Every OFA group has a staging location with definite areas of the country to secure. Our gound game is amazing with dedicated people of all ages making these last 4 days one of the largest GOTV in the history of Presidential elections. Find an office, join in this once in a lifetime history making movement to re-elect President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. If you can’t make calls, stop by with food or if you have a service that could help, join in. In Santa Rosa Ca. we had a dedicated massage therapist donate hours of her time giving chair massages to tired volunteers working multiple shifts. What a difference when people work together for the common good.

TOD family some thoughts to put out there and share, if you so desire.

If you live in an Early Voting State maybe you can help or have friends who can help.

If you know of friends who have a pizza place or a restaurant who might take you up on providing some pizza to people waiting in long lines.(donate).

Maybe you might have a Costco account and would like to pick up some water and take it to lines in your state or city.

Pick up some supplies in bulk like:
Chips, candy bars, cookies, juice, kleenex, fruit.

Some places will donate some of these. Just go in an ask.
Maybe visit your local bakery and plan to pick up on Monday morning or Tues., morning bakery goods to give people standing in line.(I have done it, and people do want to help)

Contact friends who run a catering business and ask if they would donate a load of goodies that can be passed out to people waiting in line. ( a lot of people may have illness that requires them to eat a snack so often.)

Get together with a friend, neighbor and purchase some water, juice packets and pass them out.

Your church groups can make sandwiches to be passed out. Or maybe prepare some small meals to take to polls for long lines.

Contact a performing group to entertain for long lines.

If you have money left over from your donations jars, go purchase some goodies to have and be ready to share with those in long lines on Tues., if you are available.

If you have folding chairs, take them. Or get with friends, church members and take some chairs to polls where the lines are so long., especially for elderly. You do not have to be in a wheelchair to be elderly. Some people can’t stand long hours over a period of time.

Bake some cookies and take them down or better yet, stop by a well known chain and purchase some snacks and go pass them out on Tues.,

Take some food into an OFA office for team.

Use your neighborhood markets, business to donate snacks, water, bakery goods, deli market. I know people are ready to do so. Tell them how important the voting process is for their small and neighborhood business if the right president is elected. The business comes back to them as well.

I went to bakeries, deli markets, local chain stores within the neighborhood when I was building homes for HH. You just have to go and ask. They will either say, “Yes we will help” or “No we will not.” But you will never know until you go and ask.

Just some thoughts to hopefully help. Make a big pot of soup and take down, or a large basket of fruit.

We can help in so many ways. We have to keep POTUS energized with all of our help in any goodness way that we can. (((((((((((((((((((((( Love you all.))))))))))))))))))))HZ

So, the Lakers are 0-3, and Chelsea just slipped behind Man U. But you know what? I don’t care. All I care is about Obama and the Dems winning. So, being the superstitious sort, if my teams have to suffer, so be it.

I think that the Governor believes that he brought the curse of Sandy on his state when he publicly disrepected an innocent and good man, our President. This storm has humbled the Governor deeply.

Ok, I feel completely guilty that I can’t volunteer this weekend. My team leader emailed me that they need more data people, but I told him about the spouse and her recent travails. He replied that of course I need to take care of her, they’ll be okay. But this seems so much bigger than us. Ugh. So off to give more money. I’ll be so glad when Obama secures re-election and the Robot shuts down like HAL9000.

        November 3, 2012 at 2:08 pm

😆 Thanks, Chips. I was so inspired. There were so many people. Polls open from 7 to 7, but there were many people there who had gotten to the polls at 4:30, 5, 5:30 and it was cold this morning too, but they still came out. I got there at 7 and the line was already around the building, when I left at 10:40 the line was still snaked around the building and then some. I made up a game called: “Spot the Romney Voters!’ and boy was that fun. I was wrong about two ole gals. I found that out about 40 minutes before we got into the building. They were both talking about the people of MA’s reaction to WIllard. One said to the other, “all you need to know about him is how MA feels about him. they liked him when the y voted him in, but hated him before he was done.” I think she was trying to make sure her friend did not vote for Romney. The friend was voting against Willard because her husband whom she apparently despised, told her to vote for Romney. She took a lot of pleasure talking about how she wouldn’t be complying with her husband’s wishes. also, there was an idiotic older man there dressed conservative/rich man casual. He reminded me of Lindsay Graham in EVERY way, especially with that soft southern belle voice. He kept trying to talk people into voting Romney. then I saw him giving out fliers. the two ladies I spoke about previously got fliers from him and i asked to see it, and it read: “Leader’s Picks” with a pic of all the repukes on the federal, state and local ballot. So I went up to him and asked him about it and he said he was a voter, not a solicitor but he kept moving around talking to people and by people I mean the black Haitians who’ve lived here long enough to get citizenship and the people to whom that pastor what’s his name Graham? Bill Graham? wrote a letter to saying to not vote for Obama because he supports gay marriage and abortion. It was big news in the Haitian community according to my step-father. Billy Graham sent it to religious Haitian radio shows and it was read on air. I said to a Haitian couple: “you know those people on the list are republicans, right.” And they assured me quite confidently that they did. so I think they were Romney supporters, but in all the see of people, there were more Obama supporters than Romney. Literally 10/15 to 1. Honestly. It was great. I was eavesdropping on the people in front and behind me, to the left and to the right of me and i caught a big conversation in which five people were talking about what a HUGE liar Romney was and they were like: “how could such a liar get so far?!” they talked about the debates from the first one where several defended PBO’s performance and raged about Romney’s to the second and third one where they believed PBO handed Romney his ass. It was a good day. But that Lindsay Graham guy really pissed me off. we got into it about him handing out fliers on the county supervisor of elections property and I expressly pointed out to him that everyone on the stupid flier was a repuke. His answer to me was that he was voting repuke because he’s pro business. I told that old cow that in the last 52 years there have been more republican presidents than democratic presidents and repukes only created 20+ million jobs while democratic presidents created 40+ million jobs. then i rolled eyes, snapped my neck and went back to my place in line. freak.

ps- Rick Scott tried put a constitutional amendment on the ballot so that he could deny implementation of ObamaCare in florida. there were 10 constitutional amendments and the one about ObamaCare was the first one. I took great pleasure connecting the arrow for NO!!!! I said no to all the constitutional amendments. Bastard.

Excellent, Lisa – I was cheering while reading your account, and feel like I was there neck-snapping right along with you! I work in a VERY conservative company, who send out emails about how our company will benefit under right wing propositions, etc. Yesterday in a meeting, three people joked about acting like Romney and changing our tune depending on the audience or the wind. Everyone else giggled and then we changed the subject, but it was interesting to see a little bit of common sense break into the usual nonsense. I think a lot of thinking people have seen through Romney – even if they are still clueless about President Obama’s many accomplishments and the country being on the right track.

“But I am also voting for Barack Obama because of what he believes. John Adams wrote, “Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men.” Barack Obama believes government can’t solve every problem but is not the source of all our problems either. America is still a great nation to start a business and raise a family because America is a nation — because we pull together for the common good, because we are more than the sum of our parts.”

Is anybody worried in the slightlest about NJ & NY? Suffering people have a way of spreading blame irrationally and with extended power outs and little gas they won’t be in a good mood. In NY, the most liberal parts of the state is hard hit. Hope I’m worrying about nothing.

The Red Cross, National Guard, FEMA and Janet Napolitano bombarded the area with relief and attention yesterday. NPR reported that the Defense department (I think) is setting up mobile gas stations all over the New York region to give out ten liters of free gas to residents today. I think things are getting better for more people – I saw several people saying “thank you, FEMA” on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show last night. I think they’ll be all right.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki, asked about the president saying Friday that “voting is the best revenge,” said the he was referring to revenge against GOP challenger Mitt Romney’s lies and scare tactics in recent ads.

Psaki said a recent ad falsely claiming that Jeep was moving operations overseas amounted to a “scare tactic,” “frightening workers in Ohio into thinking, falsely, that they’re not going to have a job.

“And the message [President Obama] was sending is if you don’t like the policies, if you don’t like the plan that Gov. Romney is putting forward, If you think that’s a bad deal for the middle class, then you can go to the voting booth and cast your ballot,” Psaki told reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday. “It’s nothing more complicated than that.”

President Obama made an unscripted comment yesterday and I just KNEW it would be picked up by the media, and they would try to spin it negatively: Oh my god what an “aggressive” word!!

I have a sense that President Obama is more emotional than usual in these last few days. It’s his last campaign as a candidate, and I sense that he’s letting his true feelings show. He is so fed up with the lies and the dirty tactics. He is more determined than ever to go against the defenders of the status quo. He has always wanted a true revolution in America, but a peaceful one. He and has always been a true progressive, a true man of the people. I wish “the left” would understand how transformative he really is and have his back, not just before an election, but day after day in this long battle for justice and peace.

Has anyone else received this email about Vote Buddy? This is the tool that I mentioned up-thread, based on research. Originally this man, Danny Oren, who thought up the Start menu and taskbar for Windows, was researching ways to get people to save energy. Research showed that signs asking them to turn out lights to save energy, save the planet, save money had no effect. However, when the signs showed that their neighbors were changing their behavior, energy use went down significantly. So Oran had the idea to raise voter turn-out by mailing cards with the recipients voting record (number of times voted) compared to their neighbors. Voting went up significantly! So this Vote Buddy thing is what the article was talking about. He said it probably wouldn’t be quite as effective in a national race, but could still be important.

Hey all my O peeps! What a great getting up day again riding on the TODmobile! I’m excited about this last week-end before the election. Today is our last day of early voting and while we don’t have lines in my neck of the woods, we’re going to the polls in healthy numbers.

My political take today, countdown number 4 is thanks to all you O’s who are working so hard to the very end. The real warriors in the fight for our future. Let’s move this thing FORWARD!!!

Believe it or not I was only the second patient at the walk-in clinic when I arrived there, so I was able to breeze in and out! Not often this happens. It’s also quite advantageous to live close to all the amenities! Dear TODobots I got the all clear, so we can now forget me and focus on all the good Obama-Biden-Michelle-Jill stuff. 😆 😆 Sincere thanks for your concern. Yes, I can shamefacedly admit that it IS a greatER relief having physically gone to see a doctor. Don’t get me wrong, I was really calmed by the help offered by my TOD family, but I was still feeling a little uncertain around the edges.
