I am slow today, and hanging on the last thread…..

Kust wanted to say THANK YOU ALL for the help:

I finally hit my twitter wall for the day with this story –

Thanks for all the RTs – if everyone is aware and screaming about it – hopefully all the GOP SOSs will be watched, and there will be a judge SOMEWHERE that demands some programmers audit THE DAMN “proprietary” code in the COUNTERS before Tuesday.

The more people who KNOW about this, the faster something is likely to happen.

    Thanks everyone. Now GOTV!!!!

Just read on DU that some jerks on freerepublic were bragging about canvassing for Romney in TX and reporting it to OFA like they were working for Obama. Isn’t there a way we can report this?

Summary of Wi. calls—–voters there are very aware of how critical their vote is. All except 2 oddballs made clear they were voting and voting for Obama. Had one laid back response from a cool dude Obama supporter —“That’s the plan” (re. voting for Obama), but most said things like they would never consider not voting, that they were going to be there when the polls open etc—–and “of course” for Obama. And someone called me “baby”—–which was like the cherry on top.

She effectively delivered a concession speech to a bunch of rich folk in FL, yesterday, as well.

Let’s face it, those of us who track this stuff, for real, i.e., know this site inside and out – election.princeton.edu. Willard & Rove have their internals and they know they’ve been sucking wind since the RNC 🙂 It’s just settling for Mitt & Ann that they’re going ‘home.’

For us, the issue has always been #OUTPERFORM1936 – Presidency, Congress, State Governments, ….. dog catcher’s assistant ….

What was the speech yesterday? I was not on the Tubes much as wife and I had the day to ourselves so we got stuff done.

Mitt can try and look like PBO by copying the clothes he wears – but no way can he emulate him in ANY way – the energy pours out of PBO to everyone else – no wonder Gov Christie was so impressed – he took time out to know the man he had complained about for 4 years – and discovered – to know him is to love him.

Well, there are now 3 MORE “EARLY” VOTES in the bank for my President here in Virginia!

I took my Mom (disabled) and a friend (working on Election Day) with me (I will be doing OFA Voter Protection at the polls on Election Day) to vote in-person absentee here in Richmond. We don’t do true early voting like FL, OH or IA, we do voting early if you have an excuse as to why you won’t be able to vote on Election Day.

Very steady activity at the polling place, with a very diverse group of people voting. Everyone was pleasant, calm, and orderly. Lots of Obama love in the parking lot. Felt so good!

    WOOOOOOOT for a BLUUUUUUE Virginia!!!!!!! 😛 😛 😛

  35. November 3, 2012 at 7:13 pm

So, the tradition in Casa de LL is that we get absentee ballots, fill them out, then take them to our polling places. So, it saves time, but we still get the thrill of being where democracy takes place.

    • 84 Chi
      November 4, 2012 at 4:49 am

The only problem with that LL is that your ballot isn’t counted until your signature is validated – and that can only be done at the Registrar of Voters/Elections Division…

If you want your vote to be counted early and not as part of the absentee ballot results that come much later, you will have to take it into your main County Elections office by Monday so that they can have both your signatures validated in time to count your ballot for Tuesday…

My love to your lovely wife; so glad she’s doing much better…

wonderful summation from the new yorker’s endorsement of pbo for re-election:

‘ The reëlection of Barack Obama is a matter of great urgency. Not only are we in broad agreement with his policy directions; we also see in him what is absent in Mitt Romney—a first-rate political temperament and a deep sense of fairness and integrity. A two-term Obama Administration will leave an enduringly positive imprint on political life. It will bolster the ideal of good governance and a social vision that tempers individualism with a concern for community. Every Presidential election involves a contest over the idea of America. Obama’s America—one that progresses, however falteringly, toward social justice, tolerance, and equality—represents the future that this country deserves. ♦ ‘

    Email I received:

We all know what happens when elections are this close. We all remember Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004.

2012 is shaping up to be no different. Already this year, we’ve seen hundreds of attempts to disenfranchise voters through complicated ID laws, purges of the voting rolls, and voter intimidation. And according to news reports, a Koch Brothers-funded group plans to challenge voters on Election Day across the country.

We’re sending you this email because you live in an area that is expected to experience problems on Election Day.

In past elections, it took months for the full story of voter disenfranchisement to emerge, and by that point it was too late.

That’s why we’re teaming up with our allies at Video The Vote, which is asking voters like you to be part of massive, nationwide monitoring effort on Election Day.

There are two ways to participate, and both can make a huge difference.

    1. Sign Up – Click this link to sign up as a volunteer on Election Day and connect with others in your area. You can document voting irregularities locally or help research and push out
    stories through the internet.

    2. Be Prepared – If you see anything that looks wrong on Election Day, capture it with your smart phone or camera and then tag it with #VideoTheVote on Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, or Ustream —so that the VtV team can find it and push it out to the media.

Whether or not you sign up, please forward this email to friends and family so they know about the effort and that they are prepared to #videothevote.

Over the past two decades the far-Right has used the made-up problem of voter fraud to justify an array of tactics that serve to disenfranchise voters, particularly African Americans, Latinos, poor people, and older voters.

This year, the impact of that disenfranchisement campaign could be huge. The widely respected analyst Nate Silver of the New York Times estimates that just the new voter ID laws could affect turnout in some states by as much as 2.4%. That sounds small, until you remember that the 2000 election was decided by a few hundred votes in Florida.

Election Protection advocates have been fighting this trend every step of the way, and have won some important victories. But no one really knows what will happen until Election Day. That’s where Video the Vote comes in.

Citizen documentation plays a crucial role in scaring off those who are trying to intimidate voters, and forcing the media to cover the
    issue.

And if, god forbid, the election results end up in court, the extent to which the media covers voter disenfranchisement could have a huge impact on how the cases unfold.

So please consider volunteering by signing up with the link below. When you #govote be prepared to #videothevote.

    Thanks!

Phone cameras have given Mitt grief in this election – despite his best efforts – people hear what he really believes. That is a really good email explaining what everyone can do to help.

The figure given by Nate Silver is interesting. Somewhere in his archives he has a post about accounting for voter suppression in his model – so in some areas it would seem, with unhindered elections, the President could get another 2.4%

I find it sad that a country like the US has to be concerned about voter suppression and who counts the votes. If it was possible for PBO to pass legislation taking voting out of partisan control – that would be forward and change and everything good.

ROMNEY CAMPAIGN IS LIKE CHILDREN RUNNING AFTER A BOUNCING BALL

The word “Revenge” is the latest ball. This is beyond embarrassing and really pathetic.

    =====================================================================

Steve Benen wrote a post a few months ago where he was trying to define the Romney campaign strategy. It’s all over the place, there is no rhyme or reason to their approach. He finally summed up both campaigns like this:

The struggle to define President Obama

    ———————————-

The Obama campaign tends to stick to specific themes, incorporating new information into the message matrix aides drew up a year ago, reinforcing larger arguments.

The Romney campaign tends to act like small children playing soccer, running wildly to wherever they see a bouncing ball, whether it’s strategically wise or not.

    ———————————-

They cannot bear that the Obama administration has been squeaky clean: no misuse of power, no thieving, no sex scandals. It drives the RWNJ mad so they grab at any stupid thing they can sink their dentures in and try to make it into a scandal.

  53. November 3, 2012 at 8:31 pm

I just read this interesting article http://infidel753.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-fury-of-wingnuts-scorned.html about how the wingnuts are living in a blogosphere bubble where they actually think Romney is going to win on Tuesday and that Nate Silver will be drummed into oblivion as a fraud and that they will get to come to the liberal blogs and gloat to their hearts’ content on November 7th. My question are these: Will Fox News report an alternate set of election results on Tuesday that show Romney won? Or will Fox News report the actual results and force their viewers to suck in the truth for once?

    • 133 99ts
      November 3, 2012 at 8:48 pm

May be they are planning on stealing the votes electronically and that’s why they are mad at the polls that show Romney loosing. I also heard that the media are not going to do exit polling. I wonder why? In both 2000 and 2004 exit polling conflicted with the final result in Florida and Ohio respectively. In other states, however, exit polling in 2000 and 2004 matched the final results. Without Florida, Bush would never have been selected President. And, without Ohio, Bush would never have been re-elected for a second term. It seems to me that FOX and other right wingers are trying to trash Nate Silver and others in order to prepare the public to accept a stolen election. I will be watching closely both Florida and Ohio. Mitt Romney can’t win the presidency without winning both Florida and Ohio. Like 2000 and 2004 both states respectively have Republican governors and Republican Secretaries of States who are highly partisan. Both states have done everything they could to try to suppress the votes. Thank God for the courts that have nullified their voter suppression shenanigans! All that remains that is of concern to me is how the votes are counted.

    Good Evening TOD Family,

Great day @ OFA. I’m so excited and fired up! Really happy that folks on this wonderful site have posted wonderful info for those that were concerned voter fraud and intimidation at the polls. The Obama campaign absolutely is on top of this. They knew from the very beginning that the Repugs would pull out all of the stops to steal this election, particularly in the battleground states and they are and have been MORE than prepared to deal with it. We are READY! Make no mistake. Repugs have relied on uninformed voters and bigots to get them into office…tried to stuff the most despicable candidate in U.S. history down our throats, but they have underestimated the voters in this election. Please encourage everyone not to be discouraged with the long lines…don’t let anything stop them from voting. For our Florida peeps, please don’t forget what your governor is pulling when it’s time for him to run again…run his ass out of town!

I recommend recorded books at audible.com — I listen to them in the car.
Particularly, the ones written by and narrated by Barack Obama. Pretty good writer, that young man. I think he has a promising future.

Romney is not up 6 ANYWHERE. Romney is losing and the Republicans and their friends in the media don’t want to accept it. The media is complicit with the GOP in trying to push a narrative that Obama stole the election. That’s the angle they’re gearing for when Obama actually wins on Tuesday. But we won’t let them…we’re on to their shit, and it stinks on ice.

      • November 3, 2012 at 9:28 pm

What a lie. If R was up 6 in OH and FL, it would be reflected on TPM. It isn’t. Jesus, the media is useless. Downright dangerous.

well, in the interest of factual clarity, it must be stated that robmey is up plenty in alabama, arkansas, idaho, louisianna, texas, utah–you get the picture. but in the ‘battleground states’ the races are all for pbo or tie–none of them show robmey up big.

What ABC News channel was that? Was that an ABC national broadcast or an ABC affiliated local broadcast? We need to know so we can call and ask them the source of their claims. Not even the Republican friendly polls have Romney up 6 points in either Ohio or Florida.

Question, are early voting tallys published as soon as polls close Tues? what I mean is, do they count tem soon as voting is over Tuesday, & release the numbers, or do they release them county by county on Tues?

I believe that when Chris Christie spoke to & met the President, he had an epiphany and realized how wasted had been the last 2 years of his Presidency. Gov Christie discovered that he likes the President, and the GOP bs from the past 4 years has been shown for what it really was.

I’ll keep saying it while I live about PBO “To know him is to love him”. All those folks who just want to touch him, smile at him, see him know all about it. Chris Christie just found out what they have known for years.

99ts, I believe that deep within my heart. I have been praying for the likes of Gov. Christie for four years. I see something in this meeting, however, we know that we never know what the situation will be in these types of “Coming to Jesus Moments,” but I do believe that prayer is a powerful thing. Meditation on situations for goodness between people is a real exercise within our space when we choose it.

Things have a very powerful way of moving people in order that other will not be harm or sustain suffering. POB is a pure and caring person, and million of people in this country are going to see something good come out of this pain and hurting going on right now. Very well said, HZ! It’s during crisis that you get to see the true measure of a person. I think Chris Christie, faced with an immense crisis, discovered the real Barak Obama and not the right wing manufactured caricature of the President that has dominated the right wing media for the past four years.

Ms Chips! I loved your “champion” video on an earlier thread…I was not online much today; so many posts…so little time! THANK YOU again so much for all you do, I will be staying up all night here in Germany on Tuesday, watching Wolf Blitzer (all we have!) with TOD on my laptop. Much love to you and all TOD folks, you are all brilliant!

Is it positive to call Chuck Todd an absolute fool – I think so – he is doing exactly what Nate Silver called the media on

“If you can’t acknowledge that (Mr Obama will win the electoral vote) after a day when Mr. Obama leads 19 out of 20 swing-state polls, then you should abandon the pretense that your goal is to inform rather than entertain the public.”

Chuck is even lousy at entertaining the public – no inform, no entertain – but then – seeing him squirm while he suggests this is a “toss up” – is all entertainment.

But Jim Burn, the state’s Democratic chairman, said Romney’s visit is a desperate act that shows his campaign is stalled in once more-promising swing states like Ohio.

“The Republicans are in Pennsylvania only because they have nowhere else to go,” Burn said. Democrats have carried Pennsylvania in the past five presidential elections.

Terry Madonna, a Franklin & Marshall College pollster, said he expects nearly 60 percent of the 9.9 million Pennsylvanians age 18 or older to turn out at the polls Tuesday.

Of all the virtues, kindness is the greatest. I feel kindness is in the bones of the first family. It really is what makes them so remarkable.

Just finished the first day of the four day marathon as a staging location director and I can’t remember feeling so tired. At this point, I’m not sure I could even manage to tie my shoes. But I’m so proud of the volunteers on the phones and doors and so impressed with the enthusiasm they brought to the job today. The president’s GOTV operation is being handled with military precision. Everybody is at their stations, everyone reporting up the chain of command on time through the day, And most of all, everyone committed to the single goal of winning this for our president on Tuesday. We’re in the heavily Latino area of our county and had terrific bi-lingual volunteers who really burned the telephones and ate up the miles walking the neighborhoods. One of them is a great cook and brought homemade Spanish food to every staging location in the city. And then he turned around and spent hours knocking on doors. That’s the kind of commitment that delivers a win!!! Night all.
