Harsh and undeserved punishment. See, I am actually in bed with my laptop close by. The plan is that my eyes will close on their own when I get too tired to cope.
Sleep was a problem last night, yet I can’t usually sleep during the day. I was only saying that hopefully today, daylight or no, I’ll fall asleep because my eyes simply couldn’t stay open a moment longer.
As I mentioned on the last post I was without TOD for 104 hours and am catching up. Can someone please post the link that tells us about early voting as I am pretty sure seeing those numbers will lift my spirits as high as my first shower since Monday just did.
Washington (CNN) — As it became clear this week that Hurricane Irene had her eye trained on much of the East Coast, federal officials began setting in motion preparations that have been two years in the making.
Shortly after taking office in 2009, President Barack Obama and other high-level authorities participated in a national level exercise simulating a Category 3 hurricane striking New York City, Deputy White House Secretary Josh Earnest said Friday.
Morning Bobfr! Feeling good. 😆 Lower back sore, head feels fine, and I’m staying very close to home and monitoring the feelings. That extremely timely little talk did wonders for my ‘knowledge’ and morale. Thanks! {Bobfr}
Drat! Drat! Drat! Am going to miss the President’s speech after all! Bobfr, I just got a phone lecture from a friend about going to the walk-in clinic. She said what you said, THEN pushed the guilt button about going and check despite fact I may feel okay right now BECAUSE of my only offspring and the fact she knows I haven’t yet written a will.. So catch you later. Give the Pres a virtual hug for me. 😆
This is very very good news. Trying to get from borough to borough was a nightmare. I had to literally push my way through a crowd yesterday in order to get on a bus from Manhattan to BK. Also had to keep some people from crushing this little girl. If we had to do this “Bus Bridge” any longer, chaos would have broken out.
Registration push has helped increase rolls by 40% since ’08
Latino groups say they have registered tens of thousands of new Hispanic voters in Arizona leading up to the Nov. 6 general election.
They also say the controversy over the wrong election date printed in Spanish on some Maricopa County election handouts may help boost voter turnout.
Over the past six months, a coalition of 10 Latino groups has been going from door to door, registering new voters and encouraging voters who are already registered to sign up for early mail-in ballots. The groups also have been encouraging voters who have received early ballots to mail them in and even offering to deliver them to county election officials on their behalf.
The voter-registration drives are part of a concerted effort by advocacy groups to increase the number of Latino voters in Arizona to counter what they consider anti-Latino policies such as Arizona’s immigration law, Senate Bill 1070, and Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s immigration-enforcement sweeps.
Campaign insiders tell Politico that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) was actually Mitt Romney’s first choice as his running mate, “lending an intriguing new context to the continuing drama around the Garden State governor.”
“The strong internal push for Christie, and Romney’s initial instinct to pick him for vice president, reflects how conflicted the nominee remained about choosing a running mate until the very end of the process. At least on the surface, Christie and Paul Ryan are about as opposite as two Republicans could be: a brash outsider from the Northeast versus a bookish insider from the heartland.”
“And yet Romney switched from Christie to Ryan in a span of about two weeks… Romney was so close to picking Christie that some top advisers at the campaign’s Boston headquarters believed the governor had been offered the job.”
Chips, I’m sitting heer wiping back tears after watching that video. You are simply AMAZING! Thank you so much for everything you do for our President – for all of us.
Love your video Chips – shared it on my Facebook page! Now for four days of being a staging location at my house 9-9. See you all on the flip side WHEN WE WIN!!!
So impressed with all you are doing, Judith!!! Enjoy every moment of strengthening our Democracy and expanding the future for all Americans because that is what you are doing each of these next 4 days!!!
Good morning meta – you are NOT alone!! I cried watching that video, and I thanked GOD that we have a compassionate, amazing leader in President Obama. It was a BEAUTIFUL VIDEO that spoke TRUTH to the CHARACTER of President Obama!
Let’s make sure we have his back!!! And let’s GOTV!!!
President Obama headed to FEMA headquarters Saturday morning for briefings on storm response to Hurricane Sandy, including administration and state and local officials via teleconference.
“”We still have a long way to go to make sure that the people of New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and some of the surrounding areas get their basic needs taken care of and we get back to normalcy,” he said, noting that everyone is putting in “120 percent” effort, according to a pool report. “We don’t have patience for bureaucracy. We don’t have patience for red tape.”
He has a weekend packed full of campaigning planned. On Saturday, he heads to Ohio, WIsconsin, Iowa and Virginia. On Sunday, he hits New Hampshire, Florida, Ohio and Colorado.
He has always been a warrior for and from the people. I really liked it when he starting adding the statements about being our champion. This is a wonderful video, Chips.
GM everyone. I remember how Guiliana and the republican convention mocked PBO for being a “community organizer” at their repug convention. Appears that those organizer skills are paying off and have served him well in many ways.
Long lines tell the story, if you see people lining up to vote even before the sun rises you can bet your bottom dollar they are voting for President Obama. The middle class is accustomed to getting up before the sun rises and going to work, no difference, and besides, you have to get up pretty early in the morning to fool an Obama voter.
Oh, Christ, Kerry, and my favorite General (!! Wes Clark) out in Ohio for PBO today! Marvelous! Each provides a different voice, a different dimension, to the final argument for our President.
So I took a little stroll down Twitter Lane – just to check to see how both campaigns were feeling about the days leading up to the election. And I can tell you that the differences couldn’t be more stark. I checked on Debbie Wasserman-Schultz’s TL and I see many, many fired up tweets (with pics) of early voting, OFA volunteers, etc. Her last tweet was just 2hrs ago and featured early voting enthusiasm among Latinos in FL. I also checked on Barack Obama’s TL and I also see many many tweets, pictures and videos about early voting, OFA ground game, PBO’s sterling, fact-based record of accomplishments, etc.
I then checked on Reince Preibus’s TL and I see many tweets about ad buys in this state or that state, RomneyRyan rallies with bused-in crowds, shitty endorsements from a few news papers (e.g., Des Moines Register), and other nonsense about Barack Obama’s campaign schedule. His last tweet was 12 hrs ago about that Ohio concert which had about 15K come to see kid rock but 3K come to hear Romney speak. I checked on Mitt Romney’s TL and see a whole bunch of vapid tweets with empty right-wing platitudes, interspersed with hogwash about the unemployment rate, gas prices and PBO. Not a single tweet in the last 72 hrs about early voting or the GOP ground game.
This my friends, shows the contrast between the two campaigns in this election homestretch — now which side would you want to be on?
hopefruit – I just can’t believe the number at the Ohio Rally for Willard – even the lower, correct figure of 15,000 – I was thinking he must pay people to go – does he bus them in and pay them – is there any information on this on the intertubes?
Romney has lost & your twit stroll shows it in yet another way.
My most adorable 3 yr. old Chgo grandson just called, and this was our conversation: “Guess what I doing today.” “I give up, what are you doing today?” “I voting!” “Great! Who are you voting for?” “Brock Bomma!” “Excellent choice! Yay!” “Yay!”
TOD Election Tip #1: Keep a supply of tissues on hand for the Tuesday allergies. There’s something in the air, and our eyes and noses will be running. I can feel it coming…you can feel it as well. Plan ahead.

Oh boy. Thanks 99ts
Good morning Chips TOD
Right on! The good people of NY need to be able to vote on Tuesday, and celebrate their President’s re-election on Wednesday.
Planning, planning, planning. I read that PBO and FEMA did a dry run of cat 3 storm hitting NYC and how to tackle it in 2009 itself.
That’s exactly right. For all those pundits who insist that Sandy was “luck” for PBO – if that were the case then why wasn’t Katrina “luck” for GWB?
egg.sack.lee And dumbya had much advanced warning,
True. Our President is planets ahead of Mitt on the subject of preparedness and leadership. Here’s an Aug. 2011 article on subject

HA! From Political Wire:

Wait, didn’t he practically tell Ryan that it was love at first sight?
Ryan is “bookish”? He read one Ayn Rand book and then stopped reading. At first I though he said ‘boorish’ which would be much nearer the mark,
Fabulous video Chips! Awesome… Thanks
Thanks a million Susan, thrilled you liked it! Four more years!

I like how he fit “Drove my Jeep” into the conversation, too! Nothing like a “new convert” to our O’team. Charlie’s a happy man, again, methinks.

I take great joy in how Romney has taken millions and millions and millions of dollars and squandered all of them on a very lousy campaign.

I’ve got a feeling that when the dust settles about the Des Monies Register endorsing Romney there will be a coup going on inside that newspaper.

Good numbers from a GOP pollster.
