    Good Morning!

I’m reposting this from last evening because I’m so damn proud of our OFA in Santa Fe:

    Good Evening Family!

I am SOOOO proud of our Santa Fe OFA office! I received an email today stating that our office has 1439 supporters that have so far put in 40,602 hours toward getting our President re-elected! That’s amazing! And we’re not done yet…the final push is going to be dynamite!!!

The Re-Pugs can eye New Mexico all they want…they are toast here!

Guys! I am back up! I have power and internet so I am finally getting updated on our campaign. Just heard a report that Those cans of foods on the table at Mitt’s ” campaign relief event” were actually staged by staffers who went out to buy them for fear that things would look too empty! You know I am beginning to feel sorry for the man, such desperation has never looked good on anyone. He knows and they all know they r going down! November 6 should come and put them out of their misery already! FORWARD!

He says President Obama has done a great job.. and that on election day he & his friends go out after voting & celebrate. His name is Raj, originally from India, now from Virginia and that his friends are from all different countries, citizens now and they LOVE to Vote & so they party afterwards. Six ads, one common denominator

    By Steve Benen

We talked earlier about the return of Mitt Romney’s welfare lie in a new swing-state ad, which came on the heels of Romney’s auto industry lie in an Ohio ad. And it got me thinking about how long it’s been since I saw an honest campaign commercial from the Republican nominee.

I went through the Romney campaign’s website and YouTube channel, and found that Team Romney has unveiled six English-language television ads since the third and final debate with President Obama last week, an average of nearly one per day.
Update: Dana Milbank wrote today, “The fast-and-loose with Jeep points to a troubling Romney instinct: When the stakes are high, as they are for him in must-win Ohio, the truth is often the first casualty.”

Steve documents the six atrocities here……

Even the governor of my state (*gag*) has praised PBO’s handling of Sandy:

Virginia Gov. Robert F. McDonnell, chair of the Republican Governors Association and a leading Romney surrogate, said the federal response was “incredibly fast and we’re very grateful.”

McDonnell described Obama as “direct and personal” in his approach to the disaster, adding that during natural disasters, “partisanship goes out the window.”

“The election’s going to come, but it says a lot about the president, and it makes me feel good to be an American that people have had the right focus,” McDonnell added.

    That’s MY President!

PBO and FEMA head landed in New Jersey moments ago. At the end of AF1’s stairs was Gov. Christy, and the 3 of them walked to Marine 1 across the tarmack.

Andrea Mitchell (along with that horrid David Gregory) made a big deal of it. But, it’s sop for PBO…and Christy just happens to catch reflected glory.

I’m waiting for his remarks after they view the devastation.

What is it with that woman. She sits on her perch with that haughty expression. At the root of every question is some GOP talking point or criticism. It’s disgusting. The mainstream media has done a piss poor job of reporting on this 2012 election. But when you think about it, that’s been the case since then Senator Barack Obama announced his candidacy. The three biggest scandals of this election season are voter suppression, Romney’s lying and the lack of journalistic integrity reporting the facts.

My dad is finally GONE! YAHHOOOOO!

I am so angry at the jerk that I will never let him back here again. He was telling me how his wife in Brazil was in a secret meeting with the Brazilian president and her cabinet and PBO and how PBO was ‘lecturing’ how to deal with their security and his wife was “F YOU PRESIDENT.” I got so incredibly angry at my dad for telling me this outright LIE that I will NEVER let him here again.

I wanted to deck him. His drinking and then disrespecting my president was enough for me to never want to talk to him again.

    • October 31, 2012 at 1:52 pm

I have to ask: is you dad slipping into dementia? If he’s imagining that the Brazilian president is his wife, then the drinking may be the least of his problems.

I’m so sorry you had to go through this. There are times when parents know just what to say to wound us.

I feel for you. Things are what they are, but I will not be a party to those who tear this man down unmercifully for whatever sick thoughts they’ve conjured up. I choose to live in hope rather than fear.

What are you talking about? Never talking to him again? He is your dad, plus he is a prime candidate to practice on, and learn all the tea potters talking point and then eviscerate each with facts. I would relish this opportunity. I certainly do not think you should cut off your dad in light of his politics. If you don’t want to be constantly arguing with him then let him know that when you two are together politics should not be brought up.

Christie has definitely been losing weight – and good for him! I think he’s preparing for 2016. If President Obama could quit smoking as President, with all that stress, then Christie probably is motivated to trim down. The thing is, even if he loses 200 lbs, he’ll still be a bully and not right for the presidency.

Last time he blew into my United Nations neighborhood in the middle of Chicago, he was screaming about the God damned Mexicans walking the streets (they live there. They work there. They own homes there. They educate their children there). Then he screamed that he doesn’t understand why his son, a Chicago cop, doesn’t just shoot them all. Not kidding. Yelling this on the street in front of my home.

Gentleman just came to pay taxes for his boss, he noted the Veterans for Obama sticker on my door and mention that his whole office was going to be closed on election day and they were GOTVing for the President! That’s so good to hear! I live in a 50/50 city (Omaha, NE). One of the law firm internships I work at, besides myself, the attorney (liberal) is voting Obama; the three others who work in the office (two independents–voting Obama; one is gay, one is military vet and woman) and a staunch republican (also a military vet) is leaning Obama (he said the Colin Powell endorsement was affecting his decision too, and his wife is voting Obama :-))

      • October 31, 2012 at 3:12 pm

Aside from cell phone voters, and newly registered voters, and highly motivated Democrats, I think this is another reason that the polls are not accurate. I think many Republicans are going to vote for PBO and are not announcing it to the pollsters and the world. My principal, who is a moderate Republican, is, I believe, voting for our president. We talk politics circumspectly every once in a while. I know he hated McCain (his dad apparently knew the man) and I’m pretty sure he voted for PBO last time. I think he was hoping this time that there would be someone he could get behind. But yesterday he said he was really scared (the word he used!) of Romney, and even more of Ryan. He feels he’s been dumped and disenfranchised by his party.

Ya know, I swear Dems are the most self-destructive group of people I’ve ever seen. Steve Israel was just on Andrea Mitchell ranting and raving that they haven’t received the order to get the Forest Service in there to deal with all the downed trees. Upon being pushed by Andrea he admitted that he had been at a meeting with FEMA and there was a Forest Service rep there ready to go but they were waiting on the order. Says he had requested it from both Fugate and Neapolitano yesterday. Firt, it has only been 24 hours since anyone has been able to assess the damage. Second, the lovely mayor of NYC did not want PBO there. But of course, it is PBO’s and the fed gov’t fault. Irritates me to no end.

Before leaving for New Jersey on Wednesday, President Obama took time out to call New York University Langone Medical Center.

He wanted to recognize the hospital’s efforts to safely evacuate hundreds of patients when it lost generator power at the height of the storm, White House press secretary Jay Carney said.

Obama spoke with CEO Dr. Robert Grossman and chief nursing officer Kimberly Glassman. The president had mentioned their and their staff’s heroic actions during a speech at the Red Cross on Tuesday, but Carney said he wanted to thank them personally.

Their actions were “an example of how in response to disasters like this, Americans come together,” Carney told reporters aboard Air Force One. “It was a heartening story about, as the president said, in the darkness of the storm, the brightness of America shone through.”

The Obama campaign dispatched Vice President Joe Biden to play defense in Florida on Wednesday, with stops in the smaller, more conservative markets of Sarasota and Ocala aimed at narrowing the margin where Republicans usually fare well.
Biden will speak at the Discovery Center at Tuscawilla Park in Ocala.
WFTV was at the park at authorities did a security sweep of the area.
Most of the polls in Florida put Gov. Mitt Romney ahead by a point or two.
A key in Florida is what is called the “Ground Game,” making sure that they get out the vote.
The president’s campaign is well organized in Florida and a win or a loss likely depends on getting supporters excited and getting them to the polls.
People attending the 3 p.m. rally will be allowed in starting at 1 p.m.

Jeb Bush just doubled down on giving FEMA to the States, basically-

Tampa, Florida (CNN) — At a campaign stop kicking off a swing through Florida for Mitt Romney, the state’s former governor Jeb Bush appeared to take a dig at all of the attention paid to the Obama administration’s response to Superstorm Sandy.

“My experience in all this emergency response business is that it is the local level and the state level that really matters,” Bush said to a crowd of supporters gathered in a Tampa airport hanger.

That’s stupid! I mean that, Jeb Bush fucked up!

    • 115 57andfemale
      October 31, 2012 at 2:23 pm

yeah, right. Alabama is ready for a storm. And here’s a geography lesson for Jeb: natural disasters don’t know where the borders are. Let states argue about whose job it is to secure the raging rivers, for example.

this particular piece of idiocy from a guy who presided over the most lax building codes, so the Feds can bail them out in a natural disaster.

Although the RWNJ’s are running with this today — FEMA’s in the way! Only the states can take care of themselves (except when they don’t.)

Romney’s Hurricane “Relief Effort” Was as Fake as Ryan’s Soup Kitchen Photo Op

    By Mark Karlin

Both events were pulled off with calculated cynicism.

Yesterday, Romney’s campaign – facing the challenge of a president in command of natural disaster relief – converted an Ohio political rally into a political rally disguised as providing voluntary charitable contributions to help hurricane victims on the East Coast. The problem was that collecting canned goods and other items is not what agencies such as the Red Cross want. In fact, attempting to process such relatively small donations hinders massive assistance efforts, according to non-governmental organizations.
The Ohio stunt provides a one-two punch of opportunistic displays of ambition disguised as compassion. Just last week Romney’s running mate, Paul Ryan, practically broke into a soup kitchen in Youngstown in order to get a photo of him washing pans with his wife. But don’t think the Ayn Rand acolyte was going soft. It was all for show. According to US News and World Report:
Just as Romney’s charge that Obama is responsible for a non-existent movement of 1500 Jeep manufacturing jobs to China is as fake as a three dollar bill, so is his con of acting compassionate.

I would love to have a bug on that campaign plane, particularly later today as all the photos come in. I have a little different take on why Christie has become such a huge PBO fan. While I agree that he is thinking of 2016, I suspect he is more concerned at this point with getting NJ rebuilt or he will be toast in 2016 or any time in the future. I also think he is much more realistic about PBO’s chance of winning and he will need tens of billions of federal dollars to rebuild. If he thought there was a chance that R/R might win, he would not risk those dollars by making them so angry. So I think what we’re seeing is the best assessment yet of where this race stands.

    • October 31, 2012 at 2:55 pm

    THIS is awesome! From: http://www.thedaily.com/article/2012/10/30/103012-news-campaign-tone/

“Last week, The Daily reached out to Princeton philosopher Harry Frankfurt, famous for his essay, “On Bulls***,” inquiring about a recent interview President Obama gave Rolling Stone, in which he indirectly referred to Mitt Romney as a “bulls****r.” On Tuesday night, the professor got back to us:

    Dear Mr. Libit,

Thank you for your email. I must tell you that I am tired of talking about bulls***. Just this morning I recorded an interview on the subject with somebody from the Canadian Broadcasting System, and that is surely enough for a while.

As for Romney, the only question is whether he is a bulls****er or simply a liar. Probably, he is both. One of his aides has announced that they are not going to allow fact checkers to dictate their campaign, which suggests that — in terms of my conception of bulls*** — they regard themselves as dedicated bulls****ers. But it is pretty clear that they do a lot of lying as well.

I don’t really have anything more to say about the matter than this. The only remaining mystery is why the public, which often reacts strongly against lying, is so tolerant of bulls***.

The last sentence is the mystery that defies all understanding…

Hey girl, I spent so much time bench pressing the constitution that my small wiener has become even smaller and the only pleasure I get is by redefining rape.

    LOL! x gazillion:

“Dick Morris’ latest fantasy is a Romney landslide, winning all the swing states and threatening Obama in New Jersey and Oregon, and also—get this—giving Republicans a 53-47 margin in the Senate. Many Republicans are going to read this stuff and begin their victory celebration quite early.”

Larry Flynt offers a cool million cash to Mourdock, deadline is Monday: 🙂

“I am offering you $1 million in cash, to be deposited in any bank you designate in the United States, Cayman Islands or Switzerland, for proof to substantiate your statement on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, that ‘even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that God intended to happen.’

“Please be kind enough to verify your claim for a wondering nation. I will accept for purposes of this reward any verifiable transcript of your personal conversations with God; letters, email, text messages or videos from God, or messages addressed to you from God transmitted by any third party, including the Republican National Committee or the Romney/Ryan campaign.

“I assume that you would not have made this statement unless you had been authorized by God. No one who believes in God would ever use the Almighty’s name in vain. That would be blasphemy.”

I am guessing he misspoke. He said:

“I would say I am somewhere between being a libertarian and a liberal, so…kind of a Gary Johnson vs. Mitt Romney decision, I suppose.” He meant to say between Johnson (the libertarian) and POTUS (the liberal)

I found this interesting and hilarious. Romney’s economic plan doesn’t pass muster at his alma mater.
