      Good morning all. I finally heard from my son and his girlfriend at 11:00 last night. Big storms but they have power inland from NY coast. Snow is expected to batter them now. They are survivors! They are huge President Obama supporters. Prayers for all those on the East Coast. I know what they are going through having lived on the the East Coast of Florida for the last 6 years. The worst part is…so much news coverage with numbers for them to contact if they need help……they have NO power and don’t hear these messages.

        Do they have battery powered radios? We always make sure we have one then our local tv stations broadcast their news on the local radio stations too.

        Candles lit this morning. It is early morning on the westcoast. Grateful to be alive on my 68th. So many did not make it this morning, so I rise to give thanks for this precious gift. I also have already lit my candles for all our families all across this nation.

        I cried out to God for mercy and wisdom for our beautiful president. He needs our “goodness of energies” going forth on his behalf.

        Let us love each other here and pass on the gift of our “better angels that are within each of our souls.” I will share this with my TOD Family on this day that I read during my quiet/loud time :
        “A good heart and a good head are always a formidable combination.” Nelson Mandela.
        We know God has give POB both, so we give thanks this morning for this beautiful soul in our midst.

        Donna, I hear you. That is what I mean when I say, “I cry out loud/quiet” during my prayer/meditation time with God. I know my cry outs are needed to be heard and by God’s grace, we will not have to see Mitt and Ms. Ann in the Oval Office. That is Not what we need ever.

        Let us keep our spirits moving FORWARD for POB. I plan to call today after my hair stylist comes out to see me and cut my hair. She is such an angel sent to me. Pray for me as well.

      You must be my twin. I hate to say it, but Romney has made me squint my eyes at Mormons. Do they tolerate such out and out lying in their politicians? I know Reid is also a Mormon, so I’m not going to stereotype all Mormons just because of lying Mitt.

      We’ll see if Americans are okay with electing a flip flopping millionaire and outsourcing liar who cares about nothing but lowering taxes for himself and his friends.

    Ct. daughter reports they were fortunate to not lose power. She said she thinks all the tree trimming and improvements to power infrastructure after last year’s Irene helped. But still half her neighborhood is without power as are kids’ schools and offices of both her and husband. Ct. shore took the big hit in their state—-lots of devastating destruction. She said their yard is a mess with branches and debris, but that can be cleaned up. Thought it was a great when her whole neighborhood scrambled on Sunday and arranged an early Trick or Treat for the kids, who missed out on Halloween last year because of the storm. Neighbors worked frantically to turn their garages into their traditional “haunted houses” etc., parties arranged etc.

    GM all. Again prayers and thoughts to those in the path of Sandy. And, if anything, this shows even more how important these next 7 days are. When you hear Chris Christie praising the President and FEMA, you know just how effective the government’s response is.
    And this election may well be one of the most important ever, not purely for those of us living in this country, but for the entire world.
    Due to personal circumstances I have not been able to do much lately, but I will be able to at least do some calling on Sunday and Monday.
    Let’s get this done.

    Prayers to all of those to my east. We here in Western Pennsylvania seemed to have weathered the storm pretty well.
    Most schools are closed today, including my children’s. My boss called last night to request that I work from home today. No need for extra cars out on the roads. I’m grateful to be safe inside with my kids with me, and power to keep us warm.
    My husband is working on the West Coast this week, and safe.
    Minor flooding and reports of power outages in our area, but otherwise very lucky!
    Halloween trick or treating has been moved to Saturday for most communities.
    It’s nice that my kids will still be able to get candy, but I’m so sad for the millions of children that likely will not.

    I woke up with a headache worrying about what will happen on Tuesday. It’s hard to know how this is all going to play out for election day.
    I doubt that I’ll be getting much sleep between now and then.

    Lives have been lost, and livelihoods have been washed away. Please let’s all keep those in the hardest hit areas in our prayers.
    To know that the President is in command of the situation is comforting, and we must keep him at his post.

    Be safe everyone.

      Grace I am happy that you and your family are safe. As far as the campaign goes, VP Biden and Bill Clinton are still out on the trail. Mitt Romney lied and said that he was suspending campaigning yesterday, but campaigned in Ohio and will be in Ohio today but he has set up his Ohio event today as gathering supplies for storm victims but considering he is doing this in Ohio just doesn’t seem right. He is not qualified to be our President, and I am praying for the families devastated by Sandy, and I am also praying for a victory next Tuesday.

        We will pray for healing there. No, it is not right what Mitten is doing. This is so showing and I pray that someone on the news will call him out on this for what it is.     NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — The housing market picked up more momentum in August, as the average home price for 20 major cities jumped 0.9%, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home price index

    The increase marked the fifth consecutive month of gains for the index with all but one city, Seattle, recording month-over-month price increases.

    “The sustained good news in home prices over the past five months makes us optimistic for continued recovery in the housing market,” said David Blitzer, spokesman for S&P.

    Our corner of SE Pennsylvania weathered the storm–the preparations and the communication were outstanding. We never lost power and there seems to be no property damage that we can make out. I have calls out to all relatives in New Jersey, but still no news. Keeping fingers crossed.

    Just a quick note on one part of Mitt Romney’s big speech. He didn’t simply dismiss global warming, or reject policies intended to address or mitigate against sea level rise, which is closely tied to global warming. Politicians do those things all the time. It’s ill-informed and irresponsible. But Romney took this a step further: he used the very idea of controlling sea level rise as a mere rhetorical device, a laugh line to mock Barack Obama‘s grandiosity. And he milked it for a few long seconds as the crowd at the Republican National Convention laughed.

    The biggest risk here is from storms, which can suddenly pump up sea levels by many meters, with little warning. People like living near coastlines, and, in the U.S. and other parts of the developed world, coastal development has surged in recent years. But most assumptions for development and flood protection assume a certain stability that no longer exists. Denying this (as some state and local governments are doing) is crazy: sooner or later, the people living in these places, and the businesses they built there, will pay the price.

    So Romney’s notion that helping families and protecting communities against sea level rise are somehow diametrically opposed is silly. He knows better.

If he faces genuine pushback on the Jeep/Chrysler/China falsehood, and voters are made aware of the fact that the candidate is spewing nonsense because he doesn’t trust them enough to be honest with them, it would be a step towards restoring a degree of equilibrium to the damaged discourse.

A couple months ago this GOP governor was supposedly endorsing Willard, now he refers to him with disdain, and this is the pattern within the party. It’s like they think people’s memories only live from day to day.

          Yep, Christie didn’t respect Romney very much before this week, but he surely dislikes the man even more now. Christie is obviously shaken by the events; what I saw this morning was a man totally genuine and not interested in the least in politics. Call me naĂŻve but I think Christie has kind of “bonded” with the President in the last few days. They have talked on the phone a few times and I have no doubt that Christie was impressed by President Obama’s effective leadership, and TOUCHED by his empathy and sincerity.

      The media gets very upset whenever an event like this highlights the stark difference between the GOP presidency (exemplified by GWB), and the excellent leadership of our President. And unfortunately, that is also true for some of the so-called “Librul media” Chris Matthews yesterday made the most ludicrous claim that somehow Hurricane Sandy was a stroke of luck for the President who had doomed his re-election chances during the 1st debate.

      I find it rather suspect that Tweety thinks the first debate mattered more than the second or third. And somehow, I believe that had PBO not done so well in the last debate relative to the first, Tweety’s opinion about which debate mattered the most would have changed accordingly.

      That’s how our Librul media continually moves the goalposts to avoid giving this President any credit, and to characterize his entire presidency and campaigns as being driven solely by “luck.”

My mother and grandparents were great sources of faith, love, comfort, compassion, empathy and so much in my life and my brother’s life.     Good morning TOD family and Happy Birthday to HZ. I think that your biggest birthday present is somewhat delayed, HZ. It will come next Tuesday night and the whole world will celebrate. I am grateful this morning that my little house is safe and the sun is out. My yard is littered with small and not so small tree branches, but the trees are all standing. We were lucky here on the coast of Massachusetts. I am also grateful for our President and his administration who work so hard to help those affected by this major storm. It’s really not about small government or big government, it’s all about smart government and a President who understands his role as looking out for all the people and making government the tool for building and safeguarding communities. This is the best President of my lifetime (and in just 4 months I will be 70) and I am sure that historians will recognize him as the transformational leader that he has been and will be the next four years.

    Let’s set the record straight: Jeep has no intention of shifting production of its Jeep models out of North America to China,” wrote Gualberto Ranieri, Jeep’s senior vice president of corporate communications.

    “It’s simply reviewing the opportunities to return Jeep output to China for the world’s largest auto market. U.S. Jeep assembly lines will continue to stay in operation. A careful and unbiased reading of the Bloomberg take would have saved unnecessary fantasies and extravagant comments.”
