PRESIDENT OBAMA: “I AM NOT WORRIED AT THIS POINT ABOUT THE IMPACT ON THE ELECTION.”
Attention Mrs. Greenspan of MSNBC:
Here is the transcript of President Obama’s remarks this morning about preparations for hurricane Sandy. Please view the video of his comments again and watch his lips closely when he responds to the stupid question asked by Bill Plant.
Remarks by the President on Hurricane Sandy
James S. Brady Press Briefing Room – October 29, 2012
————————————–
Q What about the impact on the election, sir?
THE PRESIDENT: I am not worried at this point about the impact on the election. I’m worried about the impact on families, and I’m worried about the impact on our first responders. I’m worried about the impact on our economy and on transportation.
The election will take care of itself next week. Right now, our number-one priority is to make sure that we are saving lives, that our search-and-rescue teams are going to be in place, that people are going to get the food, the water, the shelter that they need in case of emergency, and that we respond as quickly as possible to get the economy back on track.
LadyH, from your post, it appears that Greenspan lady said something stupid or deliberately misquoted President Obama or both. I can’t stand to watch the RW shill
I posted the transcript in response to a comment from “HOPEFRUIT2” in the previous thread. I hope ace reporter Andrea gets the message. Her sloppy reporting needs to be challenged big time. (I did not hear the comments myself, I just can not bear to watch her show.)

Just Plain Mary @MWJ1231
Andrea said “the president said what he has to do is focus on the election.” Correct yourself @mitchellreports. I rewound it.
I’m not a fan of Nate Silver 100% of the time because of some of the polls he includes in his polling averages, but I think it’s hilarious that Politico is going ape shit over him. Dylan Byers wrote an article calling him a “one term celebrity” and as evidence, cited Joe Scarborough and David Brooks. Jonathan Martin is ridiculing him, and the GOP jumped on the bandwagon on twitter. If that isn’t Politico waving their GOP flag, I don’t what else is.
They’d rather eschew the math that Nate uses in favor of commentary from pundits who don’t know jack. I’m like really, Politico? He who lives in a glass house shouldn’t throw stones. Liberals and other journalists on twitter are mocking Politico something fierce.
Thanks, ut. This is why Bryan Tau was whining last week about the president not granting Politico an interview, iirc. The president knows what a snake pit Politico is. They can say whatever they want about Nate Silver, but the one thing they can’t take away from him is his statistical knowledge and skills. They know he was dead on the money in 2008, and this is what scares them. They have lied for Romney and overlooked his glaring flaws, all in an attempt to help him win next month, but the one variable they couldn’t control is Americans’ perception of Romney. They are beginning to remind me of little kids who are realizing that Santa won’t be bringing them their favorite toy for Christmas.
Conspiracy theory: I wonder if the right wingers are attacking Nate Silver this week because he was attacked by progressives last week after his right wing skewing of polls for Romney, and his attempt to backtrack? After building up his credibility so that he could be used to demoralize Democrats with weak poll data for President Obama, and glowing analyses for Romney, it would be a shame for them to lose such a useful tool. Maybe I’m being uncharitable, but it certainly seems fishy that they’re jumping all over him now.
With the election happening in 8 days, I don’t think that is the case. The GOP always attacks the messenger when reality intrudes on their fantasy world. They are seeing the reality that all their pro-Mitt spin and bullshit has not turned the election in Mitt’s favor, Nate is merely reporting what those who don’t buy the LV screens and who have been watching states polling have been saying for weeks. The GOP is worried about their side losing enthusiasm, so they call into question information that contradicts them. Same shit different day. Most pollsters usually try to make their predictions somewhat accurate prior to election day b/c that is all people usually remember.
VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN AND PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON AT YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO RALLY
President Obama could not ask for two better surrogates. They were amazing today. Dispensing “a bit a truth” about the Romney-Ryan campaign.

Former President Bill Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden hold a grassroots rally with supporters in Youngstown, Ohio. President Clinton discussed the economic issues at stake in next week’s presidential election.
President Obama was previously scheduled to travel with Bill Clinton to Youngstown as well as an earlier event on Monday in Florida, but the President returned to the White House to monitor Hurricane Sandy and canceled all his campaign events scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
JUST IN CASE I’M GONE TOMORROW….
One day a woman’s husband died, and on that clear, cold morning, in the warmth of their bedroom, the wife was struck with the pain of learning that sometimes there isn’t “anymore”. No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat, no more “just one minute.” Sometimes, what we care about the most gets all used up and goes away, never to return before we can say good-bye, say “I love you.”
So while we have it, it’s best we love it, care for it, fix it when it’s broken and heal it when it’s sick. This is true for marriage… and old cars… and children with bad report cards, and dogs with bad hips, and aging parents and grandparents. We keep them because they are worth it, because we are worth it. Some things we keep — like a best friend who moved away or a sister-in-law after divorce. There are just some things that make us happy, no matter what. Life is important, like people we know who are special. And so, we keep them close! Suppose one morning you never wake up, do all your friends know how you really feel? The important thing is to let every one of your friends know your true feelings, even if you think they don’t love you back.
So just in case I’m gone tomorrow, please, please, vote against that asshole Mitt Romney!!
You are so right and since I nearly lost my hubby in a car accident 3 years ago, and then watched him crawl back to health, I know how precious those words are. If I could vote I would but I am making sure that everyone of my 57 US relatives are voting PBO! cause time is short. His tenure as president is limited to four more years and he still has a lot of work to do.
Does anyone have the least bit of understanding about why Willard would describe federal disaster aid as “immoral”? That one just tips the charts in absurdity.

Obama camp pushes back on Romney’s Jeep/China lie
By Steve Benen
————————–
As for Team Romney, its obviously misleading commercial is airing in at least two Ohio markets, though as Sam Stein noted, the campaign is choosing not to mount “a substantive defense of the ad’s content.” They’ve been exposed making fraudulent claims, but they don’t seem to give a damn.
Indeed, Romney aides are avoiding the most offensive lies in their ad, while also dodging the easy stuff — asked about the stated claim that Romney “plan to help the auto industry,” the campaign could offer nothing to support the claim.
Actually he did the same thing earlier this year when that other storm swept the East Coast. Christie was very complimentary of the President so on that count he is consistent.
But after touring the affected NJ areas with the President (and being asked by a voter to act as camera-person for a pic with PBO 😉 ) didn’t Christie quickly revert to his snarky partisan self? If you ask me his tweets seem quite artificial to me. Really, what was it about those statements that he felt had to be shared in a public forum? Privately there are times when I feel sad that the Pres (and his wife) can’t have a conversation without people trying to gain the spotlight themselves by sharing their every word. It’s somewhat irritating.
Hi VC, I can’t stand Christie, but saying that he appreciated the President’s “leadership” at this time will seriously piss off the Romney campaign – that’ll do for me.
CC, is that you? Really you? Good lord, I thought you had run away with the butler….or the small plane’s pilot! 😆 😆 {{CC}}
In truth, I don’t like Christie ’cause he seems too phony and I am uncomfortable with phony people, however, I see why you are satisfied with his ‘leadership’ comment. 😉
I glanced over the new thread just now and noticing all the stuff I have to go and read and the pics to study, I am now convinced it’s you! 😀 So glad to see you, I’ll even share my flax seed tea with you. It’s sweetened with KAL stevia so it tastes really really good. 😀 😀
Hurricane Sandy whispered into Gov Christie’s ear: “You better be damn respectful and nice to My President or else…” Remember, Sandy is one of the women for Obama, and she cast her early vote tonight.
#TrustBarack As everyone knows by now I love this hashtag that Bob is using because it is so true. While everyone is watching this storm with alarm, there is little doubt that most of the country KNOWS that under Barack Obama the federal government is ready and the response will be appropriate. Becaue the country DOES #TrustBarack whether they realize it or not. He has guided us through so many disasters the last three and a half years that we often pay them little notice once the initial crisis has passed. The response has been appropriate under his leadership every time, so much so that we’ve come to take it for granted. But I will never forget the absolute HORROR I and most Americans felt watching Katrina unfold and get worse by the day. We all need to be reminded of this and particularly those undecideds or soft Romney supporters. THIS man would never let a Katrina happen on his watch. Who do you want leading us the next four years? Just sayin’
Excellent comment, Foxfire and it is so true that “THIS man would never let a Katrina happen on his watch.”!!!
Thank you for supporting #TrustBarack. As the President brought the ‘trust’ factor into his stump speech in stark contrast to all that #ROMNESIA symbolizes it just seemed fitting to distil it to a hashtag. Some folk are using it on Twitter and hopefully more will as we move toward Election Day.
Excellent – and so true. I heard some radio host saying he was terrified after the last debate, because he realized he hadn’t even really thought about foreign policy for the last four years, and the thought of Willard being responsible for foreign policy and national security sent shivers down his spine. He didn’t sleep.
This whole things is unbelievable. No shame whatsoever. Here was Rob Portman in OH with Romney today:
“ROB PORTMAN: It was Barack Obama who took GM and Chrysler through bankruptcy, okay. Right? Am I right? Second, it was Mitt Romney who actually did provide for loan guarantees to make sure the warranties were backed up.”
What the hell is he talking about? There were no loan guarantee or warranties because the feds made the loans. They simply are using jargon assuming folks won’t know what they are talking about. Heaven help this nation if this man is elected.
Rob Portman has repeatedly shown himself to be an absolutely idiot, unprepared to talk about anything. I’ve seen numerous clips of him being caught completely unaware of some Romney position or statement that completely contradicts something he’s just finished talking about.
That is how a true leader leads. There are two people running for president. One of them would see nothing wrong with leaving you stranded on the roof of your flooded house for 5 days. And it’s not the black guy. Just sayin’.
Good Evening, E’rybody: reporting in from the 12th Precinct /Miami Beach. I drove past my polling location and the parking lot was full. There was a line!! It was not like Saturday nor Sunday, but a wait of 20 minutes or less – my estimate.
Yeah!!! Ok, I am off to watch the local news and see if the polling places were jammed like the weekend and catching up on the blog. Have a great evening…. #FORWARD – MARCH….
OK on this thread and the last one there’s something about Andrea Mitchell saying that PBO said ‘what he had to do was focus on the election’. I had her show on today and I didn’t hear that. I’m no Mitchell fan, but I’m curious if my ears are failing me (wouldn’t be the first time). I went and found links that were posted from her show today. There’s this one, where she talks to Chuck Todd about the election and polling data:
So if there’s a link on her making the other statement, please provide it. I can’t believe she’d be that dense especially after what PBO said to the reporter during PBO’s storm briefing. Then again, she did cover $arah Pay’em on the road during her book tour, even though her title is NBC News Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent. I wrote her an email asking why that assignment in her capacity with MSNBC. I didn’t get a reply, but I think it was because $arah was out of this world.
I was home today because of the storm and don’t watch these shows but was on twitter at the time and Just Plain Mary started tweeting that Andrea M. misquoted the President right after his press conference. Did Mitchell comment about the PC before Chuck Todd came on? I think this is apparently when the comment was made (according to Mary)?
Thanks Donna. I didn’t find a link prior to her talking to Chuck. No biggie. You all stay safe and warm tonight. Btw, if someone named Sandy knocks at your door, don’t answer it. She’s up to no good, I tells ya.
She’s been a knocking at my door all afternoon. She was pissed cuz I wouldn’t let her in so she’s been cutting my power off and on. She’s an ornery ole “B”. I wish she would go drop off in the deep part of the Ocean somewhere and leave us the heck alone. Oh well, at least I get another day off from work and for the moment I’ve got power so all isn’t lost. 😉
As communities up and down the East Coast prepare for Hurricane Sandy to make landfall, President Obama is urging residents in the path of the storm to heed warnings from state, local, and tribal officials and make final preparations. Earlier today, he spoke from the White House Briefing Room.
Watch President Obama speak about Hurricane Sandy.
We also want to make sure you have the latest guidance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. If you don’t live in an area affected by Hurricane Sandy, please pass this along to anyone you know who does.
For more information, be sure to check out FEMA.gov.
Follow the direction of local officials — If told to evacuate, do so immediately.
Know the forecast in your area — Continue to monitor your NOAA Weather Radio and your local news for severe weather updates, warnings and watches. Follow your forecast at weather.gov on your computer or mobile.weather.gov on your phone.
Turn around, don’t drown — The potential for heavy rains can also lead to flooding, or flash flooding in some areas. Driving through a flooded area can be extremely hazardous.
Make final preparations — If you’re further inland, now is the time to make final preparations. Visit ready.gov and be ready for power outages and stock up on emergency supplies of food, water, medications, and other supplies.
Check on your neighbor — Make sure they’re ready, too.
Finding shelters — Download the Red Cross Hurricane app (redcross.org/mobile-apps/hurricane-app), visit redcross.org/find-help/shelter, or check your local media outlets. You should also register on redcross.org/safeandwell, a secure and easy-to-use online tool that helps families connect during emergencies. Finally, you can download the FEMA smartphone app (fema.gov/smartphone-app) or text SHELTER and your Zip Code to 43362 (4FEMA). Standard rates apply.
Donate blood — If you don’t live in an affected area, please consider donating blood, because numerous blood drives have been canceled as a result of the storm. To schedule a blood donation or for more information about giving blood or platelets, visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
Hello TOD family: Peace Be Still in NYC.
The sound of the wind is very very loud light rain, unusually warm. When it slows down it is such peace, then it howls up fiercely again. East River and Hudson River are flooded, lots of water. Friends and family in the Bronx repotting some lights outage. Also NJ.
It is such a wonderful calming feeling to know PBO is on the job and cares for us. I am so grateful, but I can’t help to think of the people of Katrina felt with an incompetent president. It just makes you reflect and keeps you humble. What kind of person talk evil of FEMA at a time like this.
This is real….nothing else matters except the ones you love. Keep us in your prayers.
I see 465,000 are without power now in Ct. I talked to my Ct. daughter earlier—-it wasn’t bad where she lived at that time—-things may have deteriorated since then.
Your plan is probably a smart one. Take care.
Michelle Obama had 2 events in Iowa today—in Iowa City and in Sioux City. She is spending the night in Chicago, according to local news, and may be here through tomorrow night.
This writer in Sioux City was really seduced by our First Lady’s charms and persuasive speech:
I read the article from the guy in Sioux City who was covering the First Lady, and let me say the First Lady has a fan in this guy. He just said things we already knew, but he was very impress with the First Lady.
Wow, just heard Chuck Todd on Hardball while I was flipping through stations. Haven’t had him on in awhile but it sounds like he has become as delusional as the GOP base! Talking about Romney momentum? After the last week PBO had in the swing state polls? Yikes, he may have to go to work for Fox after next week. In the meantime, here’s the latest from OH showing PBO with a 5 point lead and undecideds who REALLY don’t like Romney!http://www.scribd.com/doc/111497027/12mem1029-f-Oh-Auc I believe this is the pollster that OFA is using for their internals in NV but could be wrong.
I can’t even stand to look at Chuck Todd any more. There is nothing fair and balance in that man. He might as well wear a Romney tag around his neck. I don’t care to read or hear anything Todd has to say.
We watched the CNN feed over here….everyone was supposed to be off the streets in NY…. then along comes this lunatic jogger in a Santa suit. Some folks are just plain crazy. Please stay safe everyone.
Hello TODers
Congrats for first place, Ranman – and congrats to the three way tie, as well. Lovely!

Oh, he knows Willard is gonna get wrecked on 6 Nov and he certainly is positioning himself to be the standard bearer of the Nouveau GOP, lisa 🙂

Hurricane Sandy whispered into Gov Christie’s ear: “You better be damn respectful and nice to My President or else…” Remember, Sandy is one of the women for Obama, and she cast her early vote tonight.
This is even stronger praise than Christie’s given to Romney when endorsing him…
A question that needs an answer …
… along with – Mitt, did you receive Amnesty from the IRS?
#TrustBarack Because You Can
Because Willard is pure evil. Willard don’t care about anybody but Willard.
#FORWARD
Bob, did you see the other little tax dodge that Bloomberg wrote about today?
Yep. No surprises any longer when it comes to how despicable Willard is – about everything.
Excellent – and so true. I heard some radio host saying he was terrified after the last debate, because he realized he hadn’t even really thought about foreign policy for the last four years, and the thought of Willard being responsible for foreign policy and national security sent shivers down his spine. He didn’t sleep.
Keep safe everyone.
P. S I love seeing our president presidenting.
🙂
That’s cool! Look at all those People?
#TrustBarack
He ain’t doing nothing but what Mitt pays him to do. Lie. No surprise there.
Thx, Foxfire. I tweeted that out. These jerks infuriate me with their lies.
For my MD peeps (if you still have power/Internet by then):
That is how a true leader leads. There are two people running for president. One of them would see nothing wrong with leaving you stranded on the roof of your flooded house for 5 days. And it’s not the black guy. Just sayin’.
Things are getting dangerous.
There’s this one, where she talks to Chuck Todd about the election and polling data:
http://video.msnbc.msn.com/mitchell-reports/49599322/#49599322
Then this one, where she speaks to the governor of Delaware about the storm including Beau Biden being called in for National Guard duty.
http://video.msnbc.msn.com/mitchell-reports/49599322/#49599559
Donna dem, I love you and will keep you in my thougths and prayers. ((((((((( Keep safe, beautiful one)))))HZ

The latest on Hurricane Sandy
Be safe LDS and all you TODsters in Sandy’s path this evening.
Will do, LDS.
And the Paramedics are there, checking feet for cuts. All that broken glass they had to walk over!
All you need to know. The difference between two families.
Just lost power and the wind worries me greatly…we will play it safe and sleep downstairs. I Pray that everyone in Sandy’s path stays safe!
Stay safe, CTGirl.
take care (((((((ctgirl)))))))
I see 465,000 are without power now in Ct. I talked to my Ct. daughter earlier—-it wasn’t bad where she lived at that time—-things may have deteriorated since then.
Your plan is probably a smart one. Take care.
CTGirl, good thoughts coming your way from my heart to yours. Be safe as possible.HZ
I love cross over voters for President Obama.
Way to go Georgia!!!
I hope everyone in Sandy’s path is doing okay.
Betty Anne Ward McCaskill, 84, the mother of Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) died Monday of natural causes.
RIP, Mrs. McCaskill.
My thoughts and prayers are with the McCaskill family. Losing your mother is an awful moment in life. No matter the age. May she rest in peace.
This is very sad! 😦
May strength and peace enter into Sen. McCaskill’s heart and home as she lay her mother to rest in peace.
(((((((((((((((((( May the Angels of love and comfort enfold you Senator McCaskill))))))))))))HZ
Michelle Obama had 2 events in Iowa today—in Iowa City and in Sioux City. She is spending the night in Chicago, according to local news, and may be here through tomorrow night.
This writer in Sioux City was really seduced by our First Lady’s charms and persuasive speech:
http://siouxcityjournal.com/blogs/bruceblog/bruceblog-michelle-obama-could-be-the-next-big-candidate/article_6583fd6c-4518-5d20-b286-da253be3f086.html
I don’t care to read or hear anything Todd has to say.
please go to youtube and give this video some love

There IS a GOD. Mother Nature let Faux Noise and all the Climate Change deniers know the consequences of their message of lies.

Holy shit! Not cool! 8o
O.M.G.!!!!!
WHOA.
Mother of GOD. That is wild. Can we all agree Climate change is real and do something about it before we’re literally swimming with the fishes?!
Everyone okay?
Ugh! Mother Nature is something else.
OMG.
A 30 year old in Queens has died. First reported death. Was trapped by trees. WTF was he doing outside?
We watched the CNN feed over here….everyone was supposed to be off the streets in NY…. then along comes this lunatic jogger in a Santa suit. Some folks are just plain crazy. Please stay safe everyone.
First reported death in U.S. Many died in Haiti earlier.
Oh no, really Tien Le? I heard nothing about Haiti.
Sadly, yes…all over the Caribbean: http://world.time.com/2012/10/29/in-haiti-hurricane-sandy-leaves-behind-death-and-devastation/
“52 so far confirmed dead, 20 more missing and scores of new cholera cases”
Horrific – and hardly reported. Thanks TL.
Storm is very intense! But okay right now…..cars under water in NYC East Village……parked cars.
