Chron: A defaced painting of President Barack Obama, across the street from The Breakfast Klub restaurant in midtown, will be redone with a new design, said the original artist, Reginald C. Adams.
…. The original mural, done during the presidential election campaign in 2008, was damaged sometime early Monday by vandals who threw red paint on the larger-than-life image across the street from the popular restaurant at Travis and Alabama.
…. Marcus Davis, the restaurant owner, said he discovered the damage when he got to work about 7 a.m. Monday.
“When this happened it was a sad occasion, and yet there was some excitement there in terms of the opportunity it presents,” Davis said. “Just as President Obama has not given up and has turned a negative into a positive, that’s the example I will follow.”

Morning everyone 😉
Good morning!!
Congrats magapie. and GM all
Magapie, Japa! Guys!
Yikes Pamela, only just saw your email, gonna post the pic now – you’re a legend!
Hee! Only because I learned it from YOU! {{{{{Chipsticks}}}}}. 😆
😉 Thank you Pamela!
Thank you! And you’re welcome! And thank you again and again for TOD, my place of respite!
Thank you, Pamela!!
{{{{meta}}}}
Good morning and congrats on 1st magpie.
GM folks. GM chips.
Toon time.
Dang, where is everbody??
Oh, there you are! HELLO!
Morning Magapie, moooooooooorning everyone.
Mormon’ Chips.
Typo!!! 😆 Morning Jackie!!!!
Seriously. I can’t type! I had trouble logging on too!
Now THAT was funny! Morning family:)
Moooooooooooooorning DF, mooooooooorning everyone.
That is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
A-effing-men. Will we ever learn?
So true! Can we on the Left calm the hell down if our guy doesn’t perform up to par in one debate? Do we have to crucify him if he’s not on point all the time? Matthews, Schultz and Sullivan went way overboard after the first debate. I look at them cross-eyed now and will do so until November 6th.
And some with a mic are STILL carrying on about it. But it’s all Daddy’s fault – just ask the whiners.
I still think the Dem reaction isn’t wrong – it was a true reaction to how the debate “landed” in everyone’s television screens in their homes. Dems are definitely not delusional like the GOP on the right in this cartoon — we are realistic and don’t make up lies and conspiracy theories and blame others. Like Axelrod said, POTUS is his own worst critic and in various ways he himself has admitted he had an off night. The instant polls captured what people saw and were correct. The left drama queens on cable didn’t affect the swing states. The changes in the polls were due to undecided voters who went for optics, Gallup changing to likely voter screens and natural poll tightening. Swing state polls had some minor slippage but the Obama campaign said that was going to happen regardless due to natural tightening where people are making up their minds and there is fewer undecided voters. Instead of 8% undecided there is now about 5%.
Truth be told, I think we were all a bit worried that POTUS didn’t hit back at Romney’s lies. Whether or not the media does it, in a debate that is a critical aspect for each of the debaters no matter the issue and no matter who the candidate. We didn’t want this to be the same result that John Kerry had where total shit was thrown at him in the last weeks of the campaign and it wasn’t sufficiently challenged by him and his campaign.
It’s never gonna be in the DNA of the Dems to lie, obfuscate and conspiracy theory away a problem like the GOP does, no matter what. So while the cartoon is 100% accurate imho I don’t have a problem with the Dem true reaction portrayed.
Nope, the left lacks the backbones to engage in political fist fights and the mental strength to take the ensuing results in their stride. The poll drop, if it was ever proven to have happened at all, can be squarely blamed on the freak-out left. Story of their life.
Morning all, great tweet toons there amk…congrats magapie!
Ha! We’re looking at you, Sully!
Y’all! {{{{Chipsticks}}}} hang out here while I get a tea! 😉
That’s all folks.
amk, Wow, that’s one of your best tweets. Retweeted and I hope it gets lots more!
Thx forus. RT away. 🙂
Early voting surge suggests Democratic push pays off in Iowa
More than two million Americans have already cast ballots for president less than three weeks before Election Day with a substantial number coming in the battleground state of Iowa.
The state, which holds six key electoral votes, is on pace to exceed the 1.5 million votes cast early in in 2008 — a trend that is not lost on either political party.
While both parties are investing resources in early voting, Democrats’ push to turn out voters — and in particular young voters in Iowa — could be paying off.
Early numbers, which are updated daily, show that almost 20% more registered Democrats than registered Republicans have voted so far.
Of the 463,219 early voting ballots requested in the state as of Thursday morning, 45% came from registered Democrats compared to 30% of registered Republicans.

Congrats Magapie!
Good Friday Morning everyone, near and far!

Thanks meta – I’m watching now 🙂
Kind of a more mellow and beautiful way to start the day!
Thank you Meta!
Good moooooorrnnning, Chipstar!!
Well up and at ’em all you O’s!!!! It’s another great getting up day in TOD town doncha know!!!! Well, PBO’s rally in Fairfax today slipped by me. My #2 texted me Wednesday that she was going to see PBO on Friday. Since I hadn’t heard about it, I thought she’d been hoodwinked. Well, about an hour ago, she texted a picture of her standing in line to see him. How she managed to get tickets is a mystery. She went to DC for her alma mater, Howard Univerisity’s homecoming. I should have known she’d find a way. This is the kid who always managed to get to the dressing rooms, or backstage at concert events. From the pic she sent, it looks like a long line,
My political take today is I’m glad the final debate will be on Monday. The good news about that is we won’t have to suffer through a week of the pre-debate hoopla from the pundits. The bad news about that is we will have to suffer through a week of the post debate hoopla from the pundits.
Cookemon–I totally agree that I want these debates to be over, as I’m sure the president does. They’re like gladiator contests and I just don’t have the stomach for them. If people don’t know by now who to vote for, they are beyond saving. I’ve completely run out of patience with them, I don’t need to see our president be put through another hoop.
Well, I just hope that President Obama does well enough to stave off the vultures on the Left, who love to tear him down if he gives one off performance.
Forward!
Well, we know your #2 will enjoy that, cookemom! Keep us posted! Well said on the topic of the final debate. We are THIS CLOSE to victory!
She was able to sneak and get to see FLOTUS who was speaking at Howard’s Business School, even though she was a Biology major. She was texting and sending me pics the whole time and I was relaying the info to folks on the OFA blog. It was an exciting morning.
She ended up in pics on the White House site, standing next to a Secret Service agent, waving goodby.

Oh, how wonderful!!!!!!
@mikeallen followed me the other day. Very strange.
Ugh, I’d call the police.
!
Good for you. I’ve seen your tweets. I’m glad you’re on our side. He followed me a very long time ago and I was like whaaaaaaat? You do know I’m a Democrat right? I’ve gone back and forth with him on certain things and I do have to give him credit in that no matter how hard I challenge him, he doesn’t get snippy or block me. Same with Chuck Todd. Jake Tapper on the other hand is so thin skinned. He hates whenever regular folks provide facts that prove his biased reporting wrong and he’ll block you instead of answering questions and defending his crap.
Oh, interesting. Thanks, ut. The other weird thing is that he was one of the first people to follow me on my pastry blog account about a year ago.
Jake Tapper blocked me in my first days on twitter. I’m not even allowed to view his TL. LOLz!
Little scaredy-cat Jake Tapper is afraid of you? Why am I not surprised?
Morning, meta! (And try not to mention your pastry blog too much – I’m trying not to visit there every day, ’cause you sure got the yummies!)
wait…..you have a pastry blog? Do tell, link please.
Well, here you go:
http://pastrystudio.blogspot.com/
Hope you enjoy!! I post on Fridays. So I’m about to go and post Pineapple Rum Upside Down Cake. See you in a bit.
Meta! You’ve been holding out on us! OK from now on, You are bringing the cookies! 😀
It’s a deal!!
nice I plan to visit frequently.
Wow, in his history??? That’s phenomenal!
GULP and BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
No rush of rw noise disguised as polls for nate to fall back on. Reality bites.
You’re right. Although he did include the very questionable, Republican PA poll showing Willard up by +4 in PA. I think his model still underestimates PBO’s chances. But it’s moving in the right direction, and our President’s ground game is superb and unaccounted for by most of these polling data.
OOOOOuuuuuccchhhhhhhhhh!!
WE WILL CRUSH YOU.
Wow! I just heard my third hourly radio ABC News report saying Romney is ahead 7 pts but neither can get to the number of electoral votes needed without Ohio.
Thanks for posting the YouTube clip of PBO’s interview with Stewart- can’t access Daily Show or Colbert Report in the UK!
You’re welcome Esmerelda! I’ve a feeling that video (not mine, I should add!) will be taken down soon, any Daily Show or Colbert videos on YouTube usually are.
Fantastic!!!! Morning Dotster!
Excellent expose.
Just brilliant.
This is why I stay up way past my bedtime to watch Lawrence O’Donnell. He’s so classy in his justified anger at the Romneys. Wish other media personalities could have his passion.
Thanks for posting the rewrite Chipsticks. I missed the show yesterday. LOD is my hero! 🙂
What a spectacular rewrite it was Ann – I was nearly afraid he’d jump out of the screen and hit me in the end!!
Read the file (pdf warning). All great news.
Good morning all! It’s raining again outside again but who cares.
Morning Sonjia!
Just saw on twitter that former Sen. Judd Gregg (the guy who agreed to be Pres. Obama’s commerce secretary then punked out when the GOP began screaming hell and damnation) said on Chuck Todd’s Daily Rundown that Romney will win New Hampshire comfortably. The reporters on twitter were kinda mocking him. It’s like dude….haven’t you seen all the polls from NH? It’s going blue.
The GOP lives in a dream world!
The polls tightened up quickly. I’m not that sure about NH. My friends in NH aren’t sure at all. They fall for all that ‘freedom’ b.s.
Ah yes, I remember ol’ Judd. He coulda been a contender, a patriot. Instead, he’ll be a footnote (if even that). I hope someone will have milk a cookies and a blankie ready for him on election night — he’s gonna need it.
Great info here regarding what’s been done regarding climate change:) I can’t get the graphics….but go see, and pass along!
http://www.barackobama.com/environmentalists
But, but, but: the enthusiasm gap?? 😆
FLOTUS was awesome on Live with Kelly and Michael.
collegekay, I bust out laughing when she said that, oh FLOTUS, my. my, my.
She was hilarious. Love her.
The answer to the question what’s the best gift your husband ever gave you, after thinking FLOTUS said her children. How sweet is that? I just love and respect our FLOTUS so much.
Hilarious, love it!
NAUGHTY MATS.
It is safe to assume that FLOTUS gets first dibs on the naughty mat. Then again, she doesn’t need a naughty mat. She can be naughty at will. Is it naughty when it belongs to you?
And cocoa butter!
Oh my! Perfect! 😆 😆 😆
Fine with me if that old TMI question goes away for all time.
I know some of you watch FLOTUS on Live with Kelly and Michael. 🙂
On the Daily Show his answer to “do you think you have a stronger affirmative case for Barack Obama or a stronger negative case against Romney” (paraphrased)? I loved his answer “Both” and “when you think about it they’re two sides of the same coin”. Brilliant, accurate and makes people feel better about his negative ads about Romney. I hate it when candidates run negative ads and then distance themselves from them when asked in an interview or go into doublespeack. POTUS totally backs up in this interview the negatives about Romney that he has shown in his ads.
aghh. double-speak.
I’m counting on you Chipsticks to get the video if possible.
I hadn’t had the chance to watch Pres O on Jon Stewart. Wow, Stewart was much more respectful than the last time. Almost a softball interview. It seems that Stewart realizes the stakes in this election and understands that now is not the time to create cynicism and deflate the youth vote. Maybe, just maybe he learned a lesson from 2010 ?
He has already done enough damage with his 2010 both sides do it bs stunt. Fuck him.
One of the best Daily Show’s of the last EVER, was this 11 min last month, where he calls out the complete hypocritical insanity of the GOP/FauxNews (sorry it’s in three parts, but that’s just how they posted it.) Trust me, you will cheer, and it will give you even more ammunition on just how LOST into their own CultWorld these people are:

Oh, and Jon’s BRILLIANCE regarding PBO’s masterful Rope-A-Dope that GOP heads are still exploding over from Tuesday’s debate (the last one is the Benghazi part, if you want to skip to that):

In all honesty, I’m not really convinced that Stewart was ever a problem.
Because, if Stewart was ever a problem for Obama, then why would Obama go on his show…twice! And let’s not forget the first interview Stewart did with Obama in 2008 during the campaign. I’m sorry, but I’m not suspicious of Stewart at all. If there’s a comedian who I’ve been suspicious of in regards to Obama, it’s Bill Maher.
Powerful show last night. Love Lawrence!
GM TODers. I always thought that Stewart’s big show in 2010 was about flexing muscles on the political scene; which is why I will never trust him again. 2010 was a chance to get youth vote to change the power structure in congress. Stewart and Ed S. were hateful.
Whoa- Lawrence O’Donnell really was awesome on that video… way to take it right to the Romney clan & their BS.. threatening to ‘take a swing’ at POTUS… pushing war.. when not one in their multi-generational family have served. I never follow any media on Twitter but am breaking that rule for Lawrence- really proud of him for this kick-ass of Tag Romney.
Good morning & happy friday Chips & TOD family 🙂
Awesome rise & shine, Chips!
Cagle needs to win some sort of prize for his cartoons, they are so perfect.
My President looks so dashing in his tux, and looks like he has the room in the palm of his hand, as usual.
Morning PJ! There are sometimes some seriously ugly cartoons at Cagle too, needless to say from RWers. The best a couple of them could do to attack Candy Crowley was to draw her as about 10 times the size she actually is. 🙄 Cutting edge wit.
i LOVE how they’re mad a Candy, and not about the LYING. Says everything about how truly warpped they are.
Absolutely Tally, how dare she correct a lie!
What lying? They believe their own bs.
They wanted Ms. Crowley to let Mitt have his way like the guy who did such a poor job moderating the first debate.
Didn’t the lying bishop say, I want this on record? That was why Candy Crowley spoke up. Romney was Soooooo sure for his Dan Senor lying jerk has told him to call attention on pres Obama not using Terror. Fox was on that story for days.
Now the right cry BIAS when it was the Willard that wanted 65.7M watching to be told….in Mitterrand’s mind that it was the pres fibbing. Well, Romney’s wet dreams limped out. How I had wished he had peed on the spot. That would have been the end of the Romneys.
Ooops, here I thought “Cagle” was the name of a specific cartoonist. I need to look more closely next time. 😳
Ha, no worries PJ, that’s just the name of the site!
http://www.thenation.com/article/170651/election-protection-coalition-gears-battle#
The Election Protection Coalition Gears Up for Battle
* A victory that could resonate in the battlegrounds: Reuters reports that the World Trade Organization sided with the Obama administration in barring China from imposing duties on U.S. steel exports manufactured in Pennsylvania and Ohio. This could blunt Romney’s charges that Obama has been soft on China, which is key to Romney’s final pitch to hard hit battleground state residents.
Greg Sargant
Yup. I posted a tweet about it in the last thread. This is another newly studded with spikes shoe to beat mittbot with if brings up china again.
I’m going to retweet this every time I see it today. It’s very important.
http://crooksandliars.com/ How About Some Binders Full of Your Tax Returns Instead.
Just saw CNN have these two speeches listed in their schedule for today:
2:0: Michelle Obama speaks to grassroots supporters at a campaign event in Racine, Wisconsin.
5:15: Michelle Obama speaks to supporters at a campaign event at the University of Wisconsin-Wausau.
The new Iowa and Wisconsin polls were more credible than Gallup’s crap because they’ve been holding steady for months. I’m calling IA, WI, and PA for Pres. Obama. No way Romney’s going to win those badly needed states. The data and on the ground stuff isn’t positive for him.
And Ohio. President Obama has been leading consistently in Ohio so I can’t see Romney winning that state.
A Guffaw for your day.
sweet schadenfreude.
Stephanie Miller had Bachmann’s Democratic challenger on this morning, and apparently he’s tied with her in the polls. Shocking. Wouldn’t it be awesome if she lost her seat!!! She’s so stupid. Cannot believe that she was a viable Repub candidate.
Love this:
I love the moxie of that muralist. The people, united, will never be defeated. Woot!
My sister-in-law is in line waiting to see FLOTUS in Racine!!
Wooooooot, hope she has a brilliant day Blondegrrl!
I live in a deeply red part of Northern Wisconsin – yesterday on my way to my volunteer job at the Humane Society, I passed four Obama signs to one Romney! 4:1 unbelievable up here.
yay!
Ahhh … happy news!
Love that you volunteer at the Humane Society. And glad to know that President Obama has support even in a red part of WI. I think he has that state in the bag.
FLOTUS was amazing on Live with Kelly and Michael. Team Obama uses these media appearances wisely. She made sure to emphasize early voting in person, absentee voting, and http://www.gottavote.org
She explained how easy voting/voting info is with their gottavote website. She also got into the fun stuff. She talked about how Pres. Obama and VP Biden coach Sasha’s and Maisy Biden’s (his granddaughter) basketball team and how they’re always at the games with her and Jill Biden and they always embarrass them because POTUS and VP Biden are always whooping it up, cheering, screaming Go Sasha and Maisy!!! and that Pres. Obama sometimes trash talks the referees but the refs are cool with it, because he’s always there with VP Biden most weekends to help coach and support all the girls on the team. She said sometimes the refs turn around, point and say, Mr. President; sit down and everyone gets a good chuckle.
p.s.
LOVE those tweets UT, you’re the best!!
Awww…thank you so much. 😀
Love it! *long, dreamy sigh*
Don’t tell me women can’t do a job just as good as men, if not better. Look at the debates, who did the better job moderating, the two women. The man with so much experience was horrible. But yet the stuck in the fifties Republicans think women don’t deserve equal pay.
Don’t know if this is been linked but some of these are hysterical – binders full of women – I think my favorite is the #oldwhiteguyproblems
http://bindersfullofwomen.tumblr.com/

YAY!!
Big news in a swing state. I have brothers and sisters in Colorado and this is one state where there is only one dominant paper that many still read. I’m going to check subscription numbers and see who they endorsed last election.
They endorsed Obama in 2008 but also endorsed Romney in the primaries this year.
Woot! 😛
Yea this is great because they rank #10 in online subscriptions. WSJ and NYT are #1 and #2. It’s a really detailed review – doesn’t go easy on either candidate and could be seen as too critical of POTUS but that’s probably good for a swing/undecided voter in Colorado – that they are critical but do clearly state his accomplishments as well as outlining Romney’s total BS and GOP obstruction.
Excellent. Tweeted.
PBO Destroyed RMoney in 3 easy steps: 1) First joke ridiculing Clint E., thus the GOP convention. 2) Next dinger congratulated R on not facing problem of overpopularity in World Tour and 3) VP pick? PR is a lying joke. The 4th pillar of GOP hope, the debates, PBO dealt with in the self-deprecating manner this event prefers. Sure he messed up in the 1st debate, but did you see debate # 2?
And you ain’t seen nothing yet.
Tune in Monday folks.
I meant to write zinger, but dinger works too.
I love that he made a reference to the 7.8% unemployment rate and the killing of OBL. Romney’s “jokes” were all barbed attacks on President Obama.
G’day matey’s. PBO was awesome last night but Mittens still doesn’t have a clue. Adaptability=zero. The thought of him bringing that CEO bs to World Leaders is hilarious. The world is not his board room and it’s people don’t go in binders.
Is that you Yardarm756? You look very dashing and handsome in your uniform.
I wish. That is Master Chief Carl Brashear. The movie “Men of Honor” was about him. We served at about the same time though not in the same command. Put a gray beard on him and the resemblance would be striking. 🙂
Heads up everyone:
