Repubs are so nasty. I don’t even want to imagine what they’d do if Romneybot is elected. Is there anything that the Democratic party can do about Husted’s defiance?

I blame Jon Stewart for bringing up this issue and framing it that way in the first place.

Here are Stew-Rat’s exact words: “I would say and even you would admit it was not the optimal response – at least to the American people as far as all of us being on the same page.”

And here is PBO’s response: “Here is what I will say, if four Americans get killed it is not optimal,” And we are going to fix it, all of it. And what happens during the course of a presidency, you know the government is a big operation at any given time, something screws up and you make sure you find out what’s broken and you fix it.”

      • October 18, 2012 at 7:58 pm

Oh! Another loaded question? Probably from the RNC?

        • 31 dotster3
          October 18, 2012 at 8:21 pm

Obama was just using Stewart’s word–optimal—back at him, optimal meaning “most favorable, most desirable”, and Obama using it to mean any time 4 Americans get killed it is certainly not “most desirable”.

When is the GOP not freaking about anything about terrorism? Ever since 9/11 they shit their pants over “war on terror”. Good grief, they are so fucking scared of their own shadow that they have to have terrorists imprisoned offshore as they are scared our prisons (you know those ones that are made of inflatable tents with zippered entrance/exits?) are not strong enough to hold those few hundred guys. “Oooh so he didn’t say terrorist before we did. Ooooh they were middle eastern men committing terror on us.

In reality, this is all Major League BULLSHIT. If our Ambassador to Canada and 3 other Americans had been killed by white Canadians in an attack on our embassy there do you think the GOP would be calling it terrorism?? HELL NO. This is more about the GOP and their fucking racist bigoted beliefs and hate for the president than anything to do with something called terrorism.

        October 18, 2012 at 8:36 pm

i’m no fan of Stewrat, but there’s nothing wrong with the question. Anybody freaking out about the use of the word optimal, obviously doesn’t know what it means.

      • 34 pkayden
        October 18, 2012 at 9:10 pm

What does Jon Stewart mean by “not the optimal response”? I must be missing something. President Obama is going to make sure that the creeps who killed 4 Americans are brought to justice. The response is yet to come. And who is “all of us being on the same page”? Rethugs and Democrats?

Stewart can be hilarious at times, but I prefer Colbert.

        October 18, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Kos had an article on this yesterday. The cross tabs divided the country into four parts: East, Midwest, West and South. In the East and Midwest, President Obama was leading 52-48 and 53-47 in the West, but in the South Romney led 61-39. He did not say if the regions were evenly divided. But this southern region seems to be the crux of Romney’s high numbers. But President Obama outside of Florida will not win any of those states, but he was leading in the regions where most of the swing states are.

        • 45 pkayden
          October 18, 2012 at 9:25 pm

So President Obama is leading in the East, Midwest and West? And Romney is leading in the South only? Unusual way to do a poll? Is this how Gallup always does its polls? Other polling orgs?

I have to admit that I panicked when I saw that poll. Seems like an insurmountable lead by Romney. Feel a lot better having read your comment.

  10. 46 Sharon
    October 18, 2012 at 7:59 pm

CBS is streaming from the beginning. Preliminaries now. It seems the speeches start at 9 with Romney first and the President after that. Ann is there, but not Michelle, but she wasn’t there last time though she was at a fundraiser with him later that night. I think she doesn’t see a need for her to be there and I think I would feel the same. Not a friendly place for the Obamas, but he handles himself well in all circumstances. Now they are eating and the stream ends. President looks sharp. He and Romney flank the Cardinal.

I have always thought the GOP men have a slicked back look to them. Like slicked down hair, conservative suits and ties just like the Mormons knocking on your door to talk religion. The Dem’s men look disheveled, rumpily dressed as if their outer look does not matter as much as their inner feelings.
The Dems seem more easy going and have a better sense of humor while the GOP seem uptight, and less into humor.
These are of course all generalizations but they seem more true of late.
Romney and Palin have seemed to give their kids strange names like Trig, Trip and Tagg for example.

I posted this earlier, but hasn’t seemed to gain traction:

re: auto bailout > 3,000% return on investment for Romney and Wall Street donors (written by an economist/journalist, author of “Billionaires & Ballot Bandits: How to Steal an Election in 9 Easy Steps”)

“Romney has done a good job of concealing, until now, the fact that he and his wife, Ann, personally gained at least $15.3 million from the bailout—and a few of Romney’s most important Wall Street donors made more than $4 billion. Their gains, and the Romneys’, were astronomical—more than 3,000 percent on their investment.”

It’s building, Arapaho. Bobfr has included a couple of excerpts (in the last post I think) and there have been a couple of tweets. Sometimes it takes weeks, sometimes days for stuff to gain traction. In this case I think part of the ‘delay’ is that the article itself is so long that people don’t bother to read it in its entirety to pick possible ‘sound bytes’.

I thought Feinstein learned her lesson the last time. This Benhazi faux outrage is making a fool of a lot of people. First they demand a conclusion before all the information is in. Then they conflate two separate incidents: the terrorist attack and the global outrage over an deeply offensive video. Then, they make political hay out of the death of American citizens. The whole thing is disgusting.

I don’t know how they’d do that, unless they stole your money by not paying you in the first place. I’d call their bluff on that one. I worked for a company that became involved in a pac during the Clinton/Bush campaign. I was in management, so they felt that they could pressure the non-union folks to participate. I was shocked that of the folks in my group, only two people objected and refused to contribute. I was one and the other person was voting for Ross Perot. We were both pulled in and questioned. I simply said, ‘please proceed with this line of questioning’. Silence and a thank you very much. We left the room politically on opposing sides, but we became fast friends after that. I can’t believe the mealy mouth so and so’s who went along with that crap without even voicing any dissent. They were all afraid.
