Time: Pete Souza – “This was one of the most poignant moments of the President’s first term. He was visiting wounded warriors in the intensive care unit ICU at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, May 1, 2012. He had just presented a Purple Heart to Sgt. Chase Haag, who had been injured by an IED just hours before. Sgt. Haag was covered with a blanket and it was difficult to see how badly he was injured. He was also seemingly unconscious so the President whispered in his ear so not to wake him. Just then, there was a rustling under the blanket and Sgt. Haag, eyes still closed, reached his hand out to shake hands with the President.”
Congrats maryl1 UT, Theo and Vitaminlover for sharing first. I suppose that makes me second, a rare achievement for some one who is always coming in last. I hope everyone is having a good evening!
Thank you kindly, desertflower. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you how much I love your beautiful and inspiring screen name. By the way, we are counting on you guys to turn AZ blue on Nov. 6th. The recent polls have been very exciting. I especially want to see Dr. Carmona take theSenate seat now occupied by that vile man, Jon Kyl. I have this feeling that on Nov. 6th, AZ will be glowing, like a “desert flower.”
Why, nathkatun….I do believe you’re flirting with me:) Kidding! Thank you for the compliment…I have no idea how I chose that name, been so long now…but it seems to suit me. Nothing would make so many of us here in AZ happier than to have PBO win AZ…and also to have Dr. Carmona become our senator. Like I said yesterday, I might never wipe the smile from my face if we can pull that off. We’re all working hard!
Absolutely agree! America would be crazy to replace two decent men with two cold blooded serial liars. By the way, Bob, great job on spreading the Sensata heart-wrenching story.
What a touching story! It reminds me of the story when PBO visited Gabby with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz in the hospital and she reacted to his visit giving hope to everyone.
Whew! I spotted that in the email before I opened the thread…nice to see it was caught quickly! Well Done! What an incredibly beautiful photograph and story. PBO’s face is so real. He is so real.
That is a heart-wrenching picture. I totally understand that soldier’s wish to shake this President’s hand – and it probably did him a world of good to do so, no matter the struggle.
Isn’t it truly remarkable, that even in his condition, and no doubt suffering more than we can imagine, he knew who was there, he knew by the magnificent power of the Heart of the Man, the President. President Obama.
ut, they are to busy pushing their agenda, the Mitt Romney agenda. If POTUS had lied like Romney did in that first debate, the head line would have been all about the lying. But the media over look Romney lying.
Thank you Jessica for your service It’s not enough, but be safe and godspeed. And I’m so glad you’re serving under a CiC who truly appreciates your service.
Jessica, thank you for your service. You, like all those who serve in the military, are a true hero. And thank you for your respect for President Obama.
Jovie, given the fact that Democrats have registered more new voters than Republicans in North Carolina, my bet is that the President will win North Carolina again, all the hyped polls, notwithstanding.
Wow! that’s really good news. Keep it up Ohio! I have friends in Cincinnati and Cleveland and they are all convinced the President will win Ohio. They and their four grown children have voted already.
Thanks Chipsticks –such a great picture. And it was a good story aside from the typo in the picture caption that, at best, was distracting and at worst is an unfortunate mistake given they are writing about the president and a wounded soldier. In the second sentence it s/b visiting not visited. I mean, TIME doesn’t have enough editors to catch these things? That’s their whole business – words on paper…
Any wagers on how soon Chips reaches 14million hits? I have been slammed busy today, hardly a moment to look in to see if VC has successfully baked that cheesecake I’ve been thinking about all damn day! 😆
Oh, well, I think it was the day before yesterday, Chipsticks, so what the heck, I might as well be the FIRST to donate, as I am far too often last for everything else! Here goes: KaChing! 😆 Love You!
BLIMEY! Chipsticks! I could barely get my moolah in there, it was flowing out over the top of the thermometer! Any chance you can RAISE YOUR GOAL? AGAIN! 😆 😆 😆 thanking you!
I was wondering where you were earlier, Pamela, because I couldn’t find the permission slip allowing you or Dudette to go wandering off the home place! Anyway, you’re back safely so all is forgiven. Now I just have to await Dudette’s return. Cheese cake is finished but not yet picked up – says she’ll come by tomorrow. I tell you I ain’t making another one for another couple of years! I’ve come to the happy conclusion that .. I don’t like cooking, or baking . Actually these days I don’t like anything that takes me away from what I really want to be doing. 😉 Did you put on any weight from thinking about it? This particular cheese cake recipe is the only one I eat because it’s not cloying like others are.
Oh, VC, I am blessed with that lovely, lithe (tho short) metabolism that rarely puts on weight, and certainly not from thinking about food! My top weigh in was 105lbs, until about age 36, when my daughter was born, now I’m massing in at around 116-117… But I am intense! 😆 Gotta go put some change in TOD piggy bank, then I’ll post my linky! 🙂
VC, never mind, I heard you! Hey now, girl, I seem to have some extra camping buttons here, and this morning I really felt some of them must find their way to you ~ BEFORE the election, preferably! Would you et me send them, please, please, please? 😉 tell Chips if it’s okay to give me your email, so you an get an address to me. But hurry! 🙂
Do you have a twitter account? I always hesitate to add one more straw to Chips’ load as I feel she has enough to do without acting as go-between. If you have a twitter account we could exchange email via Direct Message (DM).
They were probably discussing the reality-based, professional leftie’s conspiracy theory that Obama would drop Biden and have Hillary as his running mate
You are too funny, TrumpDog! I remember how they were all so convinced that President Obama was totally doomed if he didn’t dump Joe Biden and replace him with Hillary Clinton. I’ve been around for a number of years. From my vantage point, President Obama and Vice-President Biden are the best. They are comfortable with each other. They respect each other. And they have two brilliant spouses who support them.
Because you’ve stepped up for me and this campaign in a big way, I’d like you to join me on a special call this Wednesday, October 17th, at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
Can you make it?
I’m looking forward to the chance to give my view of how the second debate went and our plans for the third. We’ll also talk about your role in the final three weeks of this election.
RSVP to join me on the phone on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time:
I have never in my life seen such a compassionate, real, genuine, loving, caring, likeable, loveable, decent, anointed, handsome, kind person such as this very special President Barack Obama. When we get him back in office, we must definitely continue to support and encourage him and uplift him. He will still very much need this from us. Do I have a commitment?
Jovie it is not a wash. Mitt Romney owns 51% in shares. The average state retirement plans gives you what???? Even if you have .0002% in stock you are still a share holder. Can you make any decisions? Hell no. But you still own some stock. So there is no equivalency between the two. Bain and Mr. 51% makes the decisions on whether or not to sell off the company and ship those jobs overseas. and #Sensata is just one of many for Romney.
I know that, but for the media to push it… Well, I think you get my drift?
The Media is having problems pushing anything bad for Robney, giving Him a pass, it would have to be pretty bad.
However, This still might do it.
actually it is moving. Especially on the local level. Folks accessed WIW’s website and utilized her media page on the state and local level. When you google Sensata you get a lot of articles popping up all the time. So our voices are being heard.
No Jovie, It’s not a wash. Individuals have absolutely no say in these Retirement Plan investments. I remember my retirement plan here in California had invested in Enron, but I had absolutely had no idea or say so in those investment decisions. The only time I learned about this was when Enron was exposed. The same is not true of a former Owner of the company that is now outsourcing jobs. Please let’s stop letting them off the hook with these false equivalencies!
I watched that moment with my daughter at around midnight here. Had both my laptop and teevee on. The tntertoobs feed was faster by about 5 minutes. It was a scary as a thrilling moment.
The science, the research, the guts, the sweat and the efforts and finally man’s desire to push boundaries – Yeah, it was fantastic. Unlike the stupid hot dog eating and beer chugging competitions that are televised Live, this is inspiring.
Ah, okay, now I feel bad. I was kind of …. zzzzz. But maybe that’s because I’m used to seeing Wayne Rooney’s extraterrestrial relationship with a football, everything seems bla bla after that. /Scampering
The Pope met with the College of Cardinals to discuss a proposal from Shimon Peres, the former leader of Israel.
“Your holiness,” said one of the Cardinals, “Mr. Peres wants to determine whether Jews or Catholics are superior, by challenging you to a golf match.”
The Pope was greatly disturbed, as he had never held a golf club in his life.
“Not to worry,” said the Cardinal, “We’ll call America and talk to Jack Nicklaus. We’ll make him a Cardinal, he can play Shimon Peres … We can’t lose!”
Everyone agreed it was a good idea. The call was made and, of course, Jack was honored and agreed to play.
The day after the match, Nicklaus reported to the Vatican to inform the Pope of his success in the match. “I came in second, your Holiness,” said Nicklaus.
“Second?!” exclaimed the surprised Pope. “You came in second to Shimon Peres?!”
Of course, I just had the thought that if you sleep the expected 8 hours that doctors recommend it means there are times I actually spend 6-8 uninterrupted hours in TODville!!! Put like that I’m shocked! I definitely have to start making changes.
VC, Spiderwort52 here, I just did a long response back to you, but I think wordpress ate it. I don’t know what happened. Anyway I dont know why I have 2 names…was new to twitter & everything…FORWARD…
Okay, will check for you on Twitter. WordPress takes great pleasure in eating my stuff too, and mostly when I’ve spent some time writing! Drives me crazy, but I persevere because I don’t want to admit to being bested by a machine. 😉
Andrew Sullivan has an unhealthy obsession with our President. He’s still on Twitter having conniptions over the first debate. And it’s barely 2 days before the second.
Love this! RT’d! Love Rosie! Who could forget her dancing her A#@ off in the opening credits of Spike’s “Do The Right Thing” or her role as as Woody Harrelson’s girlfriend/Jeopardy champion in White Men Can’t Jump! 🙂
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – President Obama is making no more jokes about how much he dislikes debate prep.
Asked by a reporter during a pop-in at a Williamsburg campaign office how his studying is going, the president responded with a quick: “It is going great!”
The difference is palpable compared to what he told supporters outside Las Vegas while studying for his calamitous Denver debate.
“Basically they’re keeping me indoors all the time,” Obama said then. “It’s a drag. They’re making me do my homework.”
If Obama is interested in playing hooky from his debate practice — where aide Anita Dunn is playing the role of Candy Crowley and Sen. John Kerry is reprising his role as Mitt Romney — he doesn’t have to go far. The president’s hotel here, the posh Kingsmill Resort, is also hosting a Ferrari car show Sunday.
The day’s message from Team Obama continues the campaign’s vow of contrition from the first debate and vows to do better Tuesday night at Hofstra University on Long Island.
“The president is his own harshest critic and he knows Mitt Romney had a better night at the first debate,” campaign spokeswoman Jen Psaki said. “The American people should expect to see a much more energized President Obama making a passionate case for why he is a better choice for the middle class.”
The media is obsessed with this President. I haven’t seen a single media report about Willard’s debate prep. No tweets from Mark Knoller who wanted Axelrod to say exactly what PBO was going to do in the debate, etc. None of yer damn business, Mark!
When I first read that joke “they’re making me do my homework” I thought it was just a misdirection, that he was playing them, head faking and then BAM! he would get that sucka. But I guess he wasn’t. With so much hate to defeat and so many Obama supporters giving both of time and money, he gave some (Andrew and others) the fits if only because Romney’s supporters stopped being demoralized. Maybe the Prez is better under pressure cuz now there’s pressure on Tuesday. I’m gonna pray, and I ain’t even the praying kind.
The expectations for President Obama are getting insanely high, I’m afraid. I have no doubt that President Obama will be energized and will make a strong case for his policies, and will try to score some points against Romney on taxes, Medicare, women’s rights. However, we can expect that Romney will be well prepared too. President Obama can “win” the debate, but it’s possible that it will be a slight win, or it’s also possible that the debate will be declared “a tie”. Look at what they did with the VP debate.
It will be very important for supporters this time to work hard at winning the post-debate, and FIGHT HARD against the media who will try to establish the narrative that President Obama “didn’t do enough”.
“The expectations for President Obama are getting insanely high, I’m afraid.”
Who are these expectants? I hope it doesn’t include all of us who support the President and know exactly who he is and what he has been able to accomplish in the face of vicious and hostile opposition. Speaking for my self, I really could care less about the corporate media pundits’ evaluation of the debates. I don’t care how well Mitt comes across. I don’t care who Chris Matthews, Ed Shultz, Brian Williams, and the rest of the media, declare to be the winner. I am sure, like all con artists, Romney has his game perfected. Like a glib-talking, used car salesman, he will probably sell the American people, and the idiot pundits, a lemon. All I will say, before and after the debate, is shame on all the people who will buy into Romney’s lies and con games. For me, I am voting for a President and not for a first talking, glib, used car salesman liar. I just can’t imagine that anything would happen on Tuesday that would lead me to stop supporting President Obama enthusiastically. That’s why I am not going to buy into the media hype about this or the next debate. Clearly, the media are in Romney’s/Ryan’s corner. Nothing will happen on Tuesday, unless Romney wets his pants, that will change the media hostility towards President Obama. Otherwise, they (the bulk of the media) would not have reacted the way they did to the Biden/Ryan debate. I pray, and hope, that some of the pants-on-fire freak outs, that took place on this beautiful site last week, won’t happen again on Tuesday.
Again, for me: Rain or Shine, I am with President Obama 100% I refuse to be part of the superficial media games about who won and lost the debates, so long as there are no trained, objective, judges scoring the debate. My refusal to enable the false media narrative, about the winners and losers of the debate, and my steadfast support of the President, are the only way I know of that will help President Obama win re-election.
nathkatun7, this is a most excellent comment, and one that should be front-paged as a reminder that we’re not about to be dictated by the media or anyone else what our expectations should be or how we react to our President’s performance in those debates. We KNOW the pathological character that Romney is, and we KNOW our President. Our support for him is not fleeting -it’s rock solid, and our minds are not changed by a scripted, one-sided 90 minute “debate” or by the theatrics of narcissistic and overpaid cable TV pundiots or Internet bloggers.
Thanks again nathakatun7 for your great contribution to this wonderful blog.
Very important for everyone to view the video in this link and listen to Leo Gerard, United Steel workers President. Chips, sorry it’s not a YouTube link – http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/tag/sensata/
Please extend thanks to Ed for starting to get this story out ….
This merely means that the state of Illinois has a partly-private retirement plan for its elected officials. As part of its shared investments for all of the employees eligible under the state retirement system holds shares of Sensata. This has nothing specific to do with President Obama, other than that he once held a job which contributed to the state retirement system.
Well, I tried twice now to respond to you VC, hopefully this will take….either WordPress or computer issues. Spiderwort52 follows you, if you just got a retweet from me. Good sleep to all! FORWARD
I am telling you, their is some serious Racial politics going on.
First, the Medicare ad, then mentioning the birth certificate, then Sunnunu out there saying the President is lazy etc.
Well, I just looked at the internals at PPP NC poll, and Florida poll.
Well, the President is bleeding support from White People, independents frankly.
This is gross! People need to wake up and stop being Willie Hortoned!
That is all!
Jovie I hear you but at this juncture who cares? They know what this election is all about and if they waffle, let them. For every one of them that can’t bring themselves to vote for PO but will vote for Romney against their best interest, 10 more will cast their vote for the President. So I wouldn’t worry about it. You do what you can, educate as much as you can and keep it moving.
I just got back from NC and I am from a GOP county in NC. On my way from Greenville SC to Moore County NC, I literally saw 1 Romney/Ryan yard sign. I saw many Obama/Biden signs and bumper stickers. I went to Apex NC to visit some family and the neighborhood I was in had not one Romney/Ryan sign, but did have Obama/Biden. Now I am not saying this means the President will undoubtedly win NC, but I know for a fact that the Republicans are way less enthusiastic about Romney/Ryan than they were for McCain/Palin. I spoke with my family in NC and they are fired up and ready to early vote. People are awake in my opinion, and the polls are not capturing what is really going on on the ground IMHO.
Obama to headline ‘campus takeover’ at Cornell Oct. 17
// The Obama for America “campus takeover” get-out-the-vote effort at Cornell College will get a boost when the president makes a visit to the Mount Vernon campus Oct. 17.
The campaign has not released details of the President Obama’s visit to the 159-year-old private college, but he’s expected to have a late morning event at Cornell’s Armstrong Hall approximately the same time as satellite voting at the college’s Cole Library. //
A vacuum salesman appeared at the door of an old lady’s cottage and, without allowing the woman to speak, rushed into the living room and threw a large bag of dirt all over her clean carpet. He said, “If this new vacuum doesn’t pick up every bit of dirt then I’ll eat all the dirt.”
The woman, who by this time was losing her patience, said, “Sir, if I had enough money to buy that thing, I would have paid my electricity bill before they cut it off. Now, what would you prefer, a spoon or a knife and fork?”
lolol Jovie, you got me to click the link before I saw “Halperin” that was enough for me to hit the back key with the quickness. Don’t need to see any of that. Will focus on getting the word out on why we should re-elect the President and pushing #Sansata until debate night so I can see and judge for myself.
I think that If Mrs Crowley plays a bigger role, it is good for President Obama. He’s much more consistent on policy, and hasn’t anything to hide. Moreover, he has a VP who is totally aligned with him in terms of policy. As for Romney, I hope Mrs. Crowley points out some of his inconsistencies, and the differences between him and Ryan. One can dream.
Totally cosign you desire, AMK! This Ayn Rand devotee, masquerading as an Economics intellect, needs to be thoroughly defeated. Although I am strictly a red wine drinker, I may, on Nov. 6th, consider indulging in a few shots of gin, or vodka, or rum, or whisky, if the results show that Paul Ryan has lost both the VP and his Congressional seat. Now if both Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor lose their seats in Congress, there is no guarantee I will be in a position to go work on Nov. 7th, because there is no telling how much of the good stuff I would have consumed in celebration. By the way, the same is true if my neighbors in AZ turn the state blue by voting for President Obama and for Dr. Rich Carmona for the U.S. Senate.
Well Family, I just finished crying for almost two hours straight watching the First Graduating Class of the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy. So heartwarming, such a triumph! If you get the opportunity to see it, please do. It will fill you up with such pride for the these amazing young women. They will be the future leaders of South Africa and the world.
I remember watching the opening of the Leadership Academy, and really having so much hope for those young ladies. So glad to hear they have graduated the first class – especially after the horrible scandals with the headmaster there. I hope they go on to do great things for their communities.
Although I usually agree with dissing Halperin, his piece is worth reading. Crowley has stated publicly that her view of her role as moderator is far broader than either campaign agreed to and both campaigns have expressed concerns to the Commision. This could be an utter fiasco!
And what’s interesting is that both campaigns want her reined in. Ms. Candy has an inflated sense of herself. Maybe she saw Martha’s performance and wants to replicate it. The problem is that Ms. Raddatz was good, while Crowley has never shown the type of temperament to pull it off.
What concerns me is it doesn’t sound like there is any agreement between her and Commission to hold her feet to the fire. And she is an utter GOP flak. I’ve always had the sense she truly hates Obama and would love nothing more than to try to humiliate him. I truly cannot believe these debates have become such a nightmare. This was the LAST thing I was worried about when thinking about the campaign earlier in the year. And I believe that Romney will do just fine in all three debates. His entire professional life has been peddling lies to anyone who would listen. He is the slick used care salesman.
I think Mrs. Crowley is nervous and knows that her reputation is on the line. She will be afraid to appear biased. She may surprise us.
I agree with you about Romney though. I’m sure he has worked very hard on foreign policy. He doesn’t have the depth of thinking of the President nor his knowledge of history but those debates are somewhat pretty superficial and boy he can sell his stuff. I remain confident though that President Obama will be able to score a few points against him. Wanna bet that the Obama team has worked on a strategy for confronting Romney’s dangerous positions and not letting him run from them ? Moreover, President Obama will surely point out that Romney’s foreign policy team is packed with neo-cons.
Haven’t read it yet, but figured you would be interested
/One of two people suspected of shattering 11 windows Tuesday morning at the state Democratic Party headquarters has an arrest record and a history of helping a Democratic political candidate, public records show.
Thanks Inga – I never noticed that as I was so busy reading it and trying to find the connection to the tweet. Seems someone was having a lark, and I fell for it. Oh well, time to go give my brain a rest I think.
Even though that was last election, the OFA office in Denver was shot at two days ago. No one was hurt, and they have a suspect. Crazy people are out there.
Hi Cindy, I knew about the recent shooting which is why I followed the link originally – for updated info. The lead in the tweet implied the info was current but it turned out it was a red herring to stir up…….whatever it was they were trying to stir. Luckily I didn’t retweet before reading, tho I did share it here. (So I contained my red face in the family but have to apologize to you guys because I couldn’t delete once I realized it was old news and not relevant to the recent shooting.) I’ll be more careful, guys. In the words of a famous and powerful U.S. president ‘Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.’
* [new] Best stat is the ground game question (13+ / 0-)
37% of swing state voters have been directly contacted by a representative from OFA; only 27% of swing state voters have been directly contacted by the Romney campaign. This means Obama is smoking Romney in terms of ground game organization
I’m back home after two days in Iowa canvassing for the Obama campaign. I just wanted to stop in to say that we had some really positive responses of many people who have already voted for the President and others who are excited to do so. This is unfortunately the last weekend that I can get away but I plan to make phone calls across the country over the next three weeks. I’ve stayed away from cable news and social media for pretty much the past three weeks. I have to say that it does wonders for one’s attitude and provides great perspective. The thing that struck me about the team that I spent the weekend with was their optimism and good cheer. It was infectious. I am looking forward to hopefully celebrating again in Grant Park on the evening of November 6th. I can’t wait. Good night to all!
It’s my sincerest pleasure. I have known our President for years and can’t think of a better leader for our times. I love getting out and talking to people. It’s a lot of fun!
Now, now don’t tell me you’ve become ‘soft’ from living in CA for the last little while. Maybe if you came home the week before we could toughen you up a bit.
It has been several weeks since i last worked a full night shift and had time to read TOD in full by 6 a.m. Great to catch up on comments from all the familiar names and a few new ones. What a great set of pics and surely Chips has made it possible for us to see 99% of them here. There was hardly one I had not seen before. have a great day everyone. PBO is a shoo-in. No one person can generate so much love and affection and not be elected.
That’s what I wondered? Also, what happened to the Lunar lander that was let go, in the Earths Atmosphere of Apollo 13?
Maybe they both Burned up in Earths Atmosphere?
The capsule was separated from the balloon. It had its own parachute and landed safely. It has a lot of data that will be studied. As for the balloon, I’m not sure. Possibly just left to drift.
Politico battleground poll- Obama up 1- 49-48.
Wa Post national Poll- Obama up 3- 49-46.
The Race has stabilized, all set up for the President on Tuesday night.
But, Somehow, someway, the press spins this as good news for Robney.
Good Morning All….up early with a burning question….how does caller id play in the polls….I never answer the phone unless I recognize #…except the one time I was polled and that was b/c I was expecting a call and just reached and did not look…….everyone I know does the same thing…so how do they know who is voting if so much of the electorate doesn’t answer the phone?….it seems to me that the only people who answer a phone is…1..a fluke, like me….2..refuse to have caller id, age, expense…or…3…someone who is so lonely they are sitting by the phone just waiting for political calls…..doesn’t make sense to me how they would get a picture of the electorate……early morning musing…
The polls have bounced back, stabilized, just barely favor the President.
And I think the President will do great Tuesday night, Townhalls are great for him.
I am a little concerned with that Witch Crowley, though
I understand that and I’m not concerned about CC, or PBO….what I don’t understand is how you get a true picture of the electorate…I personally think that there are a LOT of elderly concerned about medicare, ss who would tell anyone that they were going to vote PBO if their life depended on it….I think there are a lot of people who only have cell phones, and not just young people…and I think there are an enormous amount of people who just don’t answer the phone…so if you only poll old people what kind of #’s do you get?
Unfortunately, a lot of elderly watch Fox News and are very suspicious of this President.
Therein lies the problem, issues are secondary to some of them.
With most recent polls looking more encouraging, Today opens with “Romney inching ahead in the polls”. NBC/Today has been on a partisan mission, day after day.
Saying Romney leads in “the 3 major national polls”, Peter Alexander, Charles Todd and Tom Brokaw piling on. Brokaw pushing “a different Mitt Romney now”, a more appealing candidate, one who says he understands you, knows what youpre going through, just loves the 47% now. Todd saying Obama not connecting now. What a bunch of BS.
Fisrt?
Congratulations on fisrt, Mary! I think I’m going to give up the quest… Fingers slowing in old age… 🙂
Actually, it was a three way tie between you, me and Mary. So congratulations to you too Theo.
Congrats to you, also, UT!
It was a four way tie! Vitaminlover was right there with you guys.
No, no, press on! I only make once in a blue moon.
Congrats to all FOUR of you! ‘The more we are together, the happier we shall be.’ 😀 😀
Good evening.
1st
How Precious!
Okay, try that again: First?
Congrats maryl1 UT, Theo and Vitaminlover for sharing first. I suppose that makes me second, a rare achievement for some one who is always coming in last. I hope everyone is having a good evening!
O.k., may be not second but at least 3rd or 4th.
Now, now…you’re never “last” with us:)
Congratulations to ALL of us! We’re all winners on TOD
Powerful
Way to go, Mary!!!
Just knew someone would do this 😀 😀 😀
#PRESSON
That story and photo are yet more motivation why we must elect President Obama. Thank you, Chips!
Absolutely agree! America would be crazy to replace two decent men with two cold blooded serial liars. By the way, Bob, great job on spreading the Sensata heart-wrenching story.
Thank you, nath!!
#FORWARD
Lootenant, I gotta tell ya this one really wiped me out. I don’t see Mittens doing anything like this. He hasn’t done it yet.
Agree and I had the same reaction to the photo!
What a touching story! It reminds me of the story when PBO visited Gabby with Debbie Wasserman-Schultz in the hospital and she reacted to his visit giving hope to everyone.
What a poignant moment.
Whoa….TIME magazine needs to correct their grammatical error.
Just spotted it UT and corrected it!!
Brought tears to my eyes. Very touching. Hope that young man is able to recover from his injuries.
From someone who tweeted me, CNN, MSNBC, and the network news shows all covered the story. We have to keep pushing it!
They’re too pre-occupied with the polls to worry about anything else!
So, so true, hopefruit!
ut, they are to busy pushing their agenda, the Mitt Romney agenda. If POTUS had lied like Romney did in that first debate, the head line would have been all about the lying. But the media over look Romney lying.
I’m so proud to serve him. I’m only doing one enlistment so he’ll be my only Commander-in-Chief.
And thank you for your service, Jessica
Thank you for your service to the country, Jessica! Thank you also for loving and respecting your CIC. We are all proud of you.
This! Thank you SOOOOOOOOO much, Jessica!!
Thank you for your service, Jessica!
Thanks for your service and kind words about our President.
Oorah!
Thank you Jessica for your service It’s not enough, but be safe and godspeed. And I’m so glad you’re serving under a CiC who truly appreciates your service.
{{{{{Jessica}}}}}. Bless you, thank you!
And we’re proud of you, Jessica. Thank you for your service.
Jessica, thank you for your service. You, like all those who serve in the military, are a true hero. And thank you for your respect for President Obama.
Not Sensata and no blankets, but my favourite election video master has another one ready
If that’s the best Robney can do in NC after his alleged surge, this is actually good news.
Case in point, NC is a tossip, still!
Jovie, given the fact that Democrats have registered more new voters than Republicans in North Carolina, my bet is that the President will win North Carolina again, all the hyped polls, notwithstanding.
I agree!
Co-sign.

#Sensata
Wow! that’s really good news.
They’re spending too much time watching polls and not enough time editing!
Interesting that Pam Grier has begun tweeting about #Sensata …
Any wagers on how soon Chips reaches 14million hits? I have been slammed busy today, hardly a moment to look in to see if VC has successfully baked that cheesecake I’ve been thinking about all damn day! 😆
Jeepers creepers Pamela, we’re getting mightily close … is time just flying, or does it only seem like, oooooh, a day and a bit ago that we hit 13m?
You know what this means: I’m going to pester the living daylights out of you all to donate $14. 🙂
Oh, well, I think it was the day before yesterday, Chipsticks, so what the heck, I might as well be the FIRST to donate, as I am far too often last for everything else! Here goes: KaChing! 😆 Love You!
😆 Love ya back, crazy girl!
Pre-congratulations to both of you! 😆
BLIMEY!
Mission accomplished, a-hem: https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/Pamela
Pamela, just lost my long answer to you, and am currently too grumpy to redo!
But hurry! 🙂
Sheesh.
*campaign buttons
*let me

I must be really tired tonight. I think it’s over for today
Sweet dreams y’all!
Do you have a twitter account? I always hesitate to add one more straw to Chips’ load as I feel she has enough to do without acting as go-between. If you have a twitter account we could exchange email via Direct Message (DM).
When was this?
From the Times link that Chips posted of the picture above. Lots of pictures.
You never saw the respect and friendship like this between G.W. and Cheney.
These guys genuinely enjoy each others company. A great A Team.
They were probably discussing the reality-based, professional leftie’s conspiracy theory that Obama would drop Biden and have Hillary as his running mate
🙄
You are too funny, TrumpDog! I remember how they were all so convinced that President Obama was totally doomed if he didn’t dump Joe Biden and replace him with Hillary Clinton. I’ve been around for a number of years. From my vantage point, President Obama and Vice-President Biden are the best. They are comfortable with each other. They respect each other. And they have two brilliant spouses who support them.
Fun email from Rufus Gifford for PBO …
Because you’ve stepped up for me and this campaign in a big way, I’d like you to join me on a special call this Wednesday, October 17th, at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
Can you make it?
I’m looking forward to the chance to give my view of how the second debate went and our plans for the third. We’ll also talk about your role in the final three weeks of this election.
RSVP to join me on the phone on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m. Eastern Time:
http://my.barackobama.com/Deadline-Supporter-Call
Thanks again,
Barack
It’s like going in to see the boss… “We’ll also talk about your role in the final three weeks of this election”.
How is it only three weeks to the election!?
I know, I know, I have it too, and I know right now I will be there only in my dreams. 😦
Got my e-mail. RSVPed with a quickness.
Just saw the Morgan Freeman ad on AMC walking Dead.
Cool!
YES! I am there!
(VL) x 2 😆
Absolutely!!
Standing with you all, beside our President.
I’m in!
Anchors aweigh!
Totally!
Just to clear up some claptrap coming from foxnoise …
That’s still not good, the right will say it’s a wash! Damn!
Doesn’t matter what they say, Jovie. The difference is vast.
Jovie, it’s not the same thing. Far from it, as Bob indicated.
Thanks Bobfr. I would have missed this explanation as I’m not currently on Twitter.
At 1342 km/h, the crazy guy did break mach.
GM folks. So any further fantastic endorsements after vc pushed me off the stage ?
Amk, am I bad to feel “bla bla-ish” about Felix doing his fasty fly-ie thing?
/Scampering
extraterrestrial relationship indeed. I mean the squirrel and the ball are rarely seen together.
Huh. Here’s Wayne closing in on goal. True, there’s no ball, but enough of your fussiness amk.
He missed that frigging goal, didn’t he ?
“No,” said Nicklaus, “second to Rabbi Woods.”
😆 Well chuffed that Rabbi Woods beat Cardinal Nicklaus!
You’re not back already! 🙄
/whispering very, very softly ….Seems I’m not the only one who pushed you away/ //ducks and rapidly hobbles away //
Nah, this is my alter ego, whom I have trained to haunt this place. From now on, expect the unexpected.
Of course, I just had the thought that if you sleep the expected 8 hours that doctors recommend it means there are times I actually spend 6-8 uninterrupted hours in TODville!!! Put like that I’m shocked! I definitely have to start making changes.
See, he (my ae) is already working. On you.
😆 Took two of you to slap me up the side of the head, eh? Provided the needed balance, I guess.
🙂
Andrew Sullivan has an unhealthy obsession with our President. He’s still on Twitter having conniptions over the first debate. And it’s barely 2 days before the second.
Andrew! STFU already!
That’s really powerful! Thanks, Dudette
Ah, another one accounted for! 😎
Love this! RT’d! Love Rosie! Who could forget her dancing her A#@ off in the opening credits of Spike’s “Do The Right Thing” or her role as as Woody Harrelson’s girlfriend/Jeopardy champion in White Men Can’t Jump! 🙂
I love Rosie Perez. This is really fantastic! It needs to shared widely. Thanks, Dudette, for sharing it with us.
What state?
Proud of Obama is from Indiana but don’t know if that’s the state she’s referring to.
Maybe Iowa?
They can’t shake their EtchaSketch fast enough ….

This merely means that the state of Illinois has a partly-private retirement plan for its elected officials. As part of its shared investments for all of the employees eligible under the state retirement system holds shares of Sensata. This has nothing specific to do with President Obama, other than that he once held a job which contributed to the state retirement system.
Thank you nospin!!!!

Thanks, it’s the media I have problems or questions with, not the Presidents Illinois 401k. But thanks for update.
O/T: Just read this diary on dk and have to share. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/10/14/1144484/-To-the-16-Year-Old-Who-Knocked-on-My-Door-Asking-That-I-Vote-for-Obama. This should get all of us off our “duffs”.
Well, I tried twice now to respond to you VC, hopefully this will take….either WordPress or computer issues. Spiderwort52 follows you, if you just got a retweet from me. Good sleep to all! FORWARD
I got it Pugeretto, and ‘followed’ you too. Either wordpress is tired or I am, but it keeps knocking me around. Grrr.
Nite VC
Good night! Sweet dreams!
Ok!
LOL. Love the heckling uncle joe.
Ha, me too, to the point where I want to leap in to my telly screen and hug him til he begs me to stop. I love the fella, in a manic kind of way.

that is adorable. Never seen it before.
What does that mean?
Obama to headline ‘campus takeover’ at Cornell Oct. 17
// The Obama for America “campus takeover” get-out-the-vote effort at Cornell College will get a boost when the president makes a visit to the Mount Vernon campus Oct. 17.
The campaign has not released details of the President Obama’s visit to the 159-year-old private college, but he’s expected to have a late morning event at Cornell’s Armstrong Hall approximately the same time as satellite voting at the college’s Cole Library. //

Thai you!
Mr. Dotster’s alma mater.
This photo just takes my breath away…brings a few tears to my eyes as well…
A vacuum salesman appeared at the door of an old lady’s cottage and, without allowing the woman to speak, rushed into the living room and threw a large bag of dirt all over her clean carpet.
Lesson ? Never mess with old wimmin.
that was pretty funny. lol
Halperin says fresh off the wire about the Debate-
http://thepage.time.com/2012/10/14/moderator-role-under-scrutiny-before-the-debate/
lolol Jovie, you got me to click the link before I saw “Halperin” that was enough for me to hit the back key with the quickness. Don’t need to see any of that. Will focus on getting the word out on why we should re-elect the President and pushing #Sansata until debate night so I can see and judge for myself.
That info is not corrupt, it’s germane to the happenings of the debate.
And it’s interesting, if you like politics.
Crowley is a control freak!
That’s why I told amk to sleep tite and not her bite as he was saying gunnite earlier today.
Ryan’s hypocrisy made front page Wisconsin news
http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2012/10/13/video-photoh-paul-ryans-pattern-of-hypocrisy-his-stimulus-funding-story-makes-front-pages-of-most-wi-papers/
Excellent. I want this election to be a two-fer for this fucker.
Yes. Yes. Yes!
George Carlin on CONSERVATIVES . . .
Has anyone already sent any of the Sensata clips/info to Randi Rhodes or Stephanie Miller?
It can’t hurt to send the info again.

I missed the date Inga, sorry. Finished reading it and discovered someone on twitter was trying to be funny???? Too much time on his/her hands, maybe.
Not a problem. I love your posts.
Sorry, I didn’t focus on your tweet. I thought that was from the Washington Times. lol

New ABC/Washington Post poll
President Obama 49
Romney 46 (-1)
Swing States
President Obama 51
Romney 46
Romney bump is gone. We’re back to pre-debate 1 numbers:
There is an enormouns discrepancy in the way these results are being reported between the WP and ABC. WaPo doesn’t even give a link to actual results and crosstabs. For the full scoop see it here:
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/10/enthusiasm-rises-for-romney-obama-has-a-right-track-retort/
PBO up 50-43 amongst RV. Also, 52% give Obama at least some credit for the improvement in the jobs numbers, contrary to the way WaPo reported this.
Thank you for all your good work! We are all grateful.
It’s my sincerest pleasure. I have known our President for years and can’t think of a better leader for our times. I love getting out and talking to people. It’s a lot of fun!
MK, your post is a delight – it is wonderful to hear about the canvassing and the optimism – thank you
Your posts are always so level headed, focused on positive. I may try and make it out to Chicago on Nov 6, as well… I hadn’t thought of that.
‘I may try and make it out to Chicago on Nov 6, as well… I hadn’t thought of that.’
Down, VC! Down. You know you can’t! Sit! [Sorry Theo – jealousy rearing its ugly head]
If I make it to Chicago – I’ll celebrate for you, too, VC! 🙂
{{{Theo67}}} I’ll look for you in the crowd…if you make it there. Will you be wearing your 2012 Obama-Biden t-shirt? 😆 😆
In Chicago in November? Maybe under a few layers… 🙂
Now, now don’t tell me you’ve become ‘soft’ from living in CA for the last little while. Maybe if you came home the week before we could toughen you up a bit.
Nope – I prefer to be soft… Just seeing people bundling up on TV sends the shivers down my spine. And I grew up in Alberta!
Wimp! 🙄
Proudly so!
Thank you MK for all you and your team are accomplishing.
Yes We Can
Time for some rest … please keep #Sensata trending … thank you.
Yes We Can
One last tweet ….
🙂
Great sign, AMK! This should be twitted over and over again. By the way, where is that sign displayed? It should be duplicated all over the country.
what the hell, just to make it fun this Monday morning how ’bout a little GOP media rounding up from 4.6 to 5!. 😉
Good one. Looks like all the polls are returning to pre-debate levels. Romney’s uptick was merely a sugar high. The GOP has a sad.
Number of sips he took from his water glass at the debate? 22. If I was a lotto player I’d go buy those numbers. Maybe not, the man is a loser.
Most of the Apollo 13 lunar lander burned up on reentry. Some parts that survived fell into the Pacific ocean near New Zealand. http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/nmc/masterCatalog.do?sc=1970-029A
The capsule was separated from the balloon. It had its own parachute and landed safely. It has a lot of data that will be studied. As for the balloon, I’m not sure. Possibly just left to drift.
Thanks Pam. I knew they couldn’t thrown away the capsule with all the data.
New Obama camp ad-

Ain’t that the freaking truth.
But…
As Jodi Kantor would say – Hmmmm….
With most recent polls looking more encouraging, Today opens with “Romney inching ahead in the polls”. NBC/Today has been on a partisan mission, day after day.
That’s because they lobby them. I think the Press knows this President doesn’t like them, they think it’s all about them.
Morning all. Please spread this to all esp.any undecideds you know.
And they are totally ignoring Sensata.
I told you!
btw, did mittbot release his sep fr numbers ?
Romney still has not released his numbers. And I would be surprised if he ever did (unless they can fudge it somehow). Isn’t the deadline this week?
The 20th
And, you know if the numbers were better than ours, they would have released them and touted them by now. So the silence may be telling. IMO
Correct.
Maintaining that Medicare lead. This is good.
But but but don’t believe this poll only the politico battleground poll that has robbery up 2 and…
Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner smashed a number of records with his “edge of space” stunt – including for live streaming.
More than eight million people flocked to their devices to watch the 43-year-old break the speed of sound live on Google’s YouTube site.
It is the largest number of concurrent live streams in the website’s history, Google UK confirmed to the BBC.
Mr Baumgartner also broke the record for the highest freefall.
He jumped from a capsule taken to 128,100ft (24 miles; 39km) above New Mexico in the US by a giant helium balloon.
It took nine minutes for him to reach the ground.
Footage from a camera on Baumgartner’s chest shows out-of-control spin
The adventurer plummeted at an estimated 833.9mph (1,343km/h), hitting Mach 1.24.
