A supporter of Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan waits for a campaign event to begin on October 12 in Lancaster, Ohio (Getty)
I posted this earlier in the comments of the previous thread, but I think it really needs to be highlighted.
Was this man even challenged at the campaign event today, by other Romney/Ryan supporters or staff?
Did anyone ask him to leave?
Will Romney/Ryan disassociate themselves from this guy?
Or are they good with this hate?
hi Chipps everyone
Hi Ourmanflint. . .
hi Marlz, just feeling excited all day after that can of whuppazz was opened over rAyn last night.
Is every Republican racists, no I don’t think so. But a hell of alot of them are, let me repeat myself, a hell of alot of them are. If you ask them why are they supporting Mitt Romney, it’s not because they believe he will make their lives better, or he will improve the economy, or they trust him, or even like him. Their number one answer is they think he can defeat that black guy in the White House. What a disgrace.
My husband is a “died in the wool republican”. It is in his DNA. I knew that when we got married 28 years ago. What I did not know was that he was a bigot. I don’t like the word racist. People are desensitized to that word. Anyhow, on election night 2008, our 11 year old son and I were watching the Grant Park festivities and my husband walks through the room, stops, looks at the TV, looks at us, and says “I can’t believe this country just elected that n—–r”! Well, I remind him everyday, every opportunity, that I cannot WAIT to hear those disgusting words come out of his mouth on November 6, 2012! Yeah. Election season is fun at my house!
Glad to know I’m not alone with the Republican husband. Thankfully, mine doesn’t say things like that though. He says “Don’t agree with his policies.”. He isn’t too specific beyond that so I feel it is a cop out and at least some of it is race related.
and i would ask the rethugs who say they’re not racist: so why do you not take a stand against the racism and racists in your party? why do you allow these terrorists to stand beside you, and support your candidates, and influence your political agenda? if you’re not a racist, then why do you side with the racists in national policy?
and if they can’t answer that, then they’re just not admitting they agree with the pukes who wear tee shirts like that skinhead shit in the photo.
Ourman… another first! You’re on a mighty roll! Congrats! 🙂
Hey Dudette!!! Thanks
Please forgive my spelling …. desperate haven’t had first in a few days ?
Trifecta?????
Where have you been, OMF?
Mostly working.. just busy
OMF, Gotta tell the boss you need more time, paid of course like Congress, to develop your online professional and political interactions. Good to see you though – haven’t since the emergency doctor had to send you the bill for my foot injury. 😉
Ourmanflint, did you say that you’ve been busy working hard? I thought all Obama supporters — you know the 47% — were lazy and totally dependent on government largess? Any way, snark aside, congrats on being #1. I also know how you feel about being busy. I usually come to this place at ungodly hours. Yesterday I missed the VP debate because of work and had to watch a C-Span replay. Actually I liked it that way because I don’t have to listen to the idiot media pundits trying to manipulate me. But I did mis joining the discussion at TOD.
I am ruling all over this thread Hurrah
Okay, cut it out! You’re not ruling aline anymore! 😆
Ruling alone – move over.
Ha ha ha
Alright now — now pushing, no shoving. Let’s all hold hands and sing…
I meant “no” pushing… 😀
Ok I’ll play nice 😳
wimmin, huh ? / smh
Truth be told, Amk, we can’t do without them “wimmin.” Of course I know you already know that. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be at TOD. By the way, thanks for the fearless job you are doing on twitter and in your commentaries here.
Okay! 😆 For a moment I saw ‘sing’ and thought “Oho, Dudes’ gonna get me back for that O song playing in her mind over and over.’ Glad to see you were more adult than that.! 😉 😉 😉
For my response… sadly we know that for a lot of people Race is what is motivating them to vote against the interest of the whole of America
OMF, I’d rather chase you around TODville than respond to that small-minded, simplistic idiot!
lets go , you’re it….
But….but…but! Oh no you don’t! I already tagged you. Nice try. You’re it. /now I can hide behind Pamela or Dudette and just dodge when you are close, instead of running./
Right here VC, got your back! What’s that behind me? Whoa! Yikes! Oh NO!
Whatever it is that’s scaring you, keep it away from me, please. As Yardarm knows, I’m a living chicken.
I wouldn’t touch that line with a ten foot pole! 😀
Cluck! Cluck! 😆
Yeah, right. I can tell by all those feathers in your buns, ha!
(Uh, it was YOU, silly! I was being funny…)
Sowwy. 😕 😆
I don’t know about you but the photo brings to a point of being seriously ill and VERY ANGERY! As I’ve said before, I knew Emmitt Till and when I see shit like this I began to think like a Mau, Mau. 😦
Behaviour like this from the GOP and their supporters do not really anger me, primarily I think because my expectations of them are so extremely low. I cannot imagine anything despicable any of them would do that would surprise me. Once I set that meter, I can face their antics with disgust but also with equanimity. It’s pointless to compare, but remember when they were sporting t-shirts and bumper stickers with a Bible verse praying for the death of the Pres? Having said that these antics no longer anger me, I hasten to add that I wouldn’t want to be in close proximity to those practising them, because the ‘evil’ would be bound to be stifling.
Well said.
VC, unlike you, I think this behavior should not be taken lightly. I say that because it’s happened before in American history. If you do have some time you need to take a peak at the history of Reconstruction after the Civil War. George Santayana was absolutely right: “those who forget (the lessons of) history are bound to repeat it.” As much as I love your point that you wouldn’t want to be any where near these blatant racists, I think It would be a mistake not to take them seriously.
Nath, you misunderstood me, I do not take these guys lightly at all! I don’t let them anger me, and nothing they do surprises me, but I do believe that at heart they carry within them the ‘axis of evil’ Bush used to talk about. I am in no doubt many of them would do the president harm if they got the chance, so I pray for him and his family and appreciate the SS, and hope good will prevail. My point above was that I just try not to get riled up at each instance of the GOP corrosive nature, because my repeated anger to the ongoing pettiness of their spirit doesn’t neutralize it, and would be disabling and demoralizing to MY spirit. I won’t give GOP haters that power over me.
You are not alone, Yardarm. It seems that these people are gearing up to create some mess. Apparently, they are no longer ashamed to hide behind white hooded robes. I really think that it would be a mistake not to take them seriously. There is one thing I’ve learned about history: it never unfolds in a predictable straight line. History has a way of going forward and then backwards if people don’t stay vigilant. One lesson of American history that is hardly taught is what happened to black people following the hopeful and euphoric period of Reconstruction after the Civil War that the gave us the 14th and 15th Amendments, a whole host of other important Civil Rights laws, and the unprecedented numbers of Black elected officials on the national, state and local levels. What followed this period was not more progress. Rather, it was the nightmare of the Jim Crow period dominated by terror and violence and open and unabashed racism. It would take decades and generations to try to undo this. For some reason the spirit of Jim Crow seems to be slowly showing its ugly face once again. This why I think It’s important to remain vigilant.
True that. The window that was shot out in Denver may be the start.
And it’s time to for all anti-racists to embrace the Jewish pledge of “NEVER AGAIN!”
That was only after they suffered a lot.
You are absolutely right! But black folks have equally suffered a lot. Yet, there is tendency to gross over the history of black suffering.
By some but not me.
Wow
I’m trying to see why the “White House” is written with different lettering. Does it look different to you?
Your right… there are black streaks throughout. These racists are just vile.
Yes…and nails or bullet holes on top of the letters. You know what? I’m so done with these ignorant excuses for people. We have to just vote for sanity all the way down the ticket. We have to make them irrelevant. Forever.
I stretched the photo, there are stars along the top, the black lines look like an iron fence, it almost looks patriotic, but it is the black and white of it, as well as the blatant offensiveness which is unforgivable. Inexcusable, and needs to be brought out to the light of sanity and reason. Shame on them all.
Chips is right to highlight that racist slug. You know nobody there challenged him — they embrace him and all he stands for. This needs to be rubbed in Romney and Ryan’s faces on every tv network, billboard, email, Twitter and Facebook account possible!
yes!! see the crowd around him? nobody’s hassling him, nobody’s trying to throw him out, nobody’s paying any attention at all–because the rethugs accept this disgusting display as normal.
We may have to keep tabs on this site:) http://actually.org/
Congratulations Mitt Romney, you’ve won the vote of the KKK and despicable racists alike.
What is so sad about that is, while watching Madcow, I saw a clip of an R rally, and there was a little black boy about 12 years old on the backing stage…….who are his parents? How do they feel about themselves as black people? How do they explain this sickness to the little boy? Poor child.
You know EDP4BHO, This is a tactic that has been used over and over again by racists. I am a student of history. My passion for history centers around the Civil War Period, Reconstruction, and The Jim Crow period. Guess what, when the Southern whites embarked on restoring “White Supremacy” after Reconstruction they initially pretended to be color-blind and used some blacks as plops to support their schemes. Some blacks were naive and bought into these schemes, others were selfish and looked out for their own personal benefits at the expense of their community. Sadly, once white supremacy was restored, those blacks who allowed themselves to be used, either unwittingly, or because they were selfish, found themselves paying the same price as those they betrayed.
So true nathkatun. I live by the saying….”lest we forget”. And that satan is very clever.
Good night everyone. Just saw that President Obama is going to be on the Daily Show with John Stewart on October 18th.
Well kids, it’s time for ol’ Dudette to leave the neighborhood for tonight. I’ll be seeing you.
Everyone have a lovely evening/morning/afternoon! (whatever applies) 😀
I leave you with this beautiful gem. Find someone to hug!
I agree with Tally. I hope it goes viral and I hope the media covers this and demands answers. This is despicable. Let there be no doubt. Racists and Republicans go hand in hand.
This x infinity.
Put the skinhead back in the penitentiary.
Bravo UT and Tally! You are doing a heroic job with your tweets! These people must be taken seriously and must be exposed! All of us who are anti-racism must pledge to “Never Again” allow the country to go back to racist Jim Crow period. Romney and Ryan should be pressed to denounce these racists! But even more importantly, the media must be pressed to report this aspect of the Romney supporters instead of denying the existence of racism as a significant force in the Republican party.
The GOP must not be allowed to hide behind people of color like Condi Rice, Marc Rubio, Allan West, Alan Keys and Clarence Thomas. Even the white supremacist who enacted Jim Crow laws had favorite blacks that they allowed as tokens in positions of prominence; as long as they did not not challenge the doctrine of “White Supremacy.”
am surprised they don’t have a picture of his face.
Hope the Secret service have a picture.
I retweeted this. I’ll start tweeting it again tomorrow and make sure I send it to as many journo as I can. I’ve already sent it to a few of the bloggers I know.
I know BuzzFeed has picked it up.
The head is skinned and the neck is red, and right underneath that, a Romney/Ryan sticker–very appropriate.
I’ll bet others there felt the same. Sadly who are the over 40% of Americans who support the party of obstructionists, who ballooned the deficit, and is ok with discriminating against the sick, and who long for a government so big to control health choices of women?
Now that is cool!!!!
you know if someone tried to wear a sesame street shirt, they would be kicked out. guaranteed this guy was not bothered at all at the rmoney event. all anyone needs to know. forward!!
He was a hero in that crowd, for sure, 4more!
#FORWARD
He wouldn’t have worn that shirt if he hadn’t felt he’d be accepted there., and he appears to be blending right in.
Doing what I can to have that image ‘go viral’ and be forever synonymous with #RomneyRyan ….
#PRESSON
This is sickening and despicable, but I’m not surprised. It was only a matter of time before they came out and overtly revealed themselves. I’m black and many of my folks and others I know have been saying for a long time now, “all they care about is getting that black man out of the white house.” No doubt, for many of these folks–even those that try to hide it–this is true.
Couple their bigotry with this ….
You all need to do everything you can to push this video …. as you listen to it you will realize what #BainMitt was saying in that #47Percent video are his ‘values’
#FORWARD
I wouldn’t surprise me if they accused the Obama campaign of planting the guy. Although we all know what kind of people they’ve been trying to appeal to.
What exactly led you to make this comment implying that President Obama planted this ugly racist? I hope this is not your clever way of trying to pre-empt us from focusing on the vile racism embraced by a substantial segment of the Republican party?
The poster means that the RW likes to accuse the Dems of doing things to make the GOP look bad; for example, the RW conspiracy nuts tried to say that the shooter of Gabrielle Giffords and the others at her gathering in Arizona was really a Democrat trying to come off as a crazy rightwinger.
Well let’s see.. the folks on the right are reality challenged and have accused the Obama administration of a number of ridiculous things. We know how they play the game, they’ll try to turn this around and blame the Democrats. Yes, I know this guy is a 100 percent Romney supporter, but I also know the right-wing loves the cast doubt by muddying the water.
I understand what rain is saying. The Republican’s M.O. is to NEVER take responsibility for ANYTHING negative that happens around them. They just turn around and blame the Democrats or more often, the “liberals”.
Polls don’t favor them: conspiracy by pollsters
Vote doesn’t favor them: election fraud
Debates go bad: biased moderator and biased media
Republican Candidate makes a gaffe: misinterpreted by the biased media
Unemployment numbers go down: White House manipulation
The list goes on. They are the biggest bunch of WHINERS and CRY BABIES I’ve ever seen. Yet the very notion of Republicans as VICTIMS is laughable! They attack and get away with it ALL the time, and characteristically we Democrats just move on. We cannot keep on doing that.
The guy pictured is a straight up racist and should be exposed nationally. The Republicans can’t get away with calling him a “Plant” (which they will), if this racist’s background is investigated and exposed. SOMEBODY knows who he is, and they Know for certain that he is NOT a Democrat.
The Democratic Party does not have to lift a finger to help the GOP to promote vile acts of racism. They are doing a mighty fine job on their own. This crap became so blatant during the 2008 election. Sarah Palin accused Senator Obama of paling around with terrorist and the tea party were emboldened to display their racist tendencies toward him.
Now the racists also feel emboldened to come to a rally for Willard because his religion Mormonism is steeped in the occult. Mormonism is rooted in a racist view.
Willard Romney does not care about the average person. He is dangerous. He and the likes of him is trying to bankrupt this country. Greed is a dangerous bedfellow motivated by hate. Power is what Willard and his cohorts are seeking. They think their money will buy what they seek.
When I think how they place no value on the human life. Always looking for a means of exploiting some one. Wanting cheap labor or slave labor. Conspiring against the weakest. Pretending they care about human life at conception but uses every available tool to remove a meaningful quality of life after they are here.
The media is at fault but God always have a plan of escape. The Internet, blogs and tweeter has been a mighty force. This information process has allowed us to remain vigilant about our freedom.
We shall remain strong and fight a good fight to never repeat the history of becoming enslaved by a few.
I see a few black folk who say that they are with the GOP party because the party represents their ideas and values. It lets me know right away that their brains are warped and they are need of some serious mental help.
We are living in dangerous times because the white man of the GOP is scared because they won’t get their war or they want the one in Afghanistan to continue with someone else’s loved ones forever and they can’t continue to fatten their coffers on the backs of the American people. When you are desperate, scared and you see your little house is crumbling before your eyes you resort to drastic means to stop the pain.
The GOP is scared.
I like this cartoon
Soooooooooooooooooooo, just never thought of working out the pencil legs too??? Too hard????
eewwww. That is considered ‘manly’. rwnj’s are weird.
OMG, he is so repulsive in every way. UGH.
Can you imagine what he would look like if he DIDN’T work out??? I am not impressed–at ALL. Besides that STILL scrawny body, he looks like a combination of Screech, Eddie Munster and Gomer Pyle. Yet some commentators have called him “attractive”. Maybe, when he puts his teeth back in.
Exactly…and they have the nerve to call him all kinds of “weak” names. May God continue to protect him.
Here’s are the Bidens in WI today 🙂
http://www.c-span.org/Events/VP-Biden-Travels-to-Wisconsin-for-Campaign-Rally/10737434919-1/
Heard shots were fired at PBO’s campaign office in Denver.
This really scares me! Someone could have gotten killed!
Wondering about RVs and LVs. The RW pollsters way of creating a different narrative about the election. Good series of tweets by Jefferson Obama on this.
Fuck ’em. They don’t know how hard we’re working and how MANY of us there are.
Exactly! I am going to be working very, very, hard to turn any registered voter who support the President into a likely voter for President Obama. I just can’t tell you how badly I want to shame pollsters and media pundits who prefer to peddle propaganda and poll hypes instead of reporting truthful news.
Bobfr,, How do I re-post this, share it on Facebook, email etc? Thanks.
This is so powerful, Bob. Thank you for spreading via tweeter. It’s really a must see, especially for middle class working people.
Bob…I had fallen asleep on the couch so I’m just checking back in…..this literally took my breath away. This needs to go viral. EVERYONE needs to see this! Thanks so much for posting.
Lawrence’s ‘Rewrite’ was good.
Hey Chips, Ed noticed ….
“They are still out there ” b/c you sorry ass media are not calling the lies, greed, rudeness the GOP is promoting. You promote the rage and ignorance when you tell people to stay home and not vote these crazies out of office. If you would do your jobs and report the truth, stop blaming PBO b/c you are inadequate at what you do, maybe just maybe Billy Bob will come to the realization that the Civil War is over and we won.
You feed their rant and rage and all you can say is,”they are still out there”. What if someone had gotten hurt in the Dem office that was shot at today? What will you say, then. Blame Obama…….again.
I am tired of this media hiding behind their repug agenda.
Speak the truth, give us facts. If not write your lying ass books get your one man show on cable and collect your repug checks while they use you as their right wing tools. If you are a repub, say it and stop straddling the fence.
They are not going away until you stop giving them the bait.
My sentiments exactly!
good! now i hope he notices that the crowd standing around this puke are not reacting at all–nothing unusual or shocking to them. nobody is hassling the guy, nobody is trying to throw him out. just another racist rethug at a robmey rally. own it, robmey, you’re the candidate of the haters.
It is not the color of the house. It is the quality in the house that makes the White House. President Obama is the finest leader that has ever lived in the People’s House.
This is a spot-on tweet! By the way, Bobfr, VP Biden did a fabulous job in exposing the lies and hypocrisy of Paul Ryan about the stimulus money, which Ryan sought twice for his constituents
Agree!
Catching up on old episodes of Boardwalk Empire, this Van Alden character is a batshit crazy religious nut. Seems like a republican.
Watching this show called Poirot and am enjoying it!
BTW I watched boardwalk empire and haven’t seen the 2nd season yet.
I really like Poirot! Didn’t realize it was on tonight.
Love Poiro! Where are you watching it?
Jeff was watching it – not sure where.
On Netflix. It seems like Poirot has to deal with people not liking him for his race at times.
Not fair – I was looking for it on TV… Sometimes it comes on Masterpiece Theater.
This is a really fine song!
I know a lot of you are done woth Ed Schultz. But the last segment of his show tonight he had on the union leader of the steel industry. Can’t recall his name. Talking about that plant in Illinois that was sold by Bain Capital, now, in real time, and they fired all the employees. Some have worked there 20+ years, and are shipping the operation to China. But the kicker to me is they actually took down the American flag during the shut down week and replaced it with the Chinese flag. Ed had interview clips with fired American employees who had photos of the Chinese flag hanging in the plant. For the love of God, why is this not a breaking news political story or at least the lead story in the MSM? Oh. Never mind. ARGHHHHHHHHH!
Look up thread. I posted the video with their story. Expect to hear more about this in the final three weeks.
Here are two additional tweets striving to get the message out …
omg!!! from watching this video, i haven’t laughed this hard in long, long time courtesy of the onion news network:
http://www.theonion.com/video/gaffeprone-biden-embarrasses-nation-yet-again-by-s,14377/
then it became a little sad, since it’s not really that far from what really happens in “the news” today.
I was checking Freeport, Il. newspaper for any news on Sensata because I can’t believe what’s happening there and the hoisting of the Chinese flag and the employees who have worked there for 43 years and they are telling them to train your Chinese counterpart and here’s 6 month’s severance and there’s the door—–I think a lot of voters should be aware of Bain’s handiwork here——-but I noticed this really great letter to the editor, making the case for Obama’s re-election.
http://www.journalstandard.com/newsnow/x2051148330/J-S-Letter-Obama-governing-The-rest-of-the-story
Sorry to end a glorious day on such a sour note. But I grew up around these cowards and it still angers me when it is not called out immediately.
Thank you, Tally for demanding this be tweeted way up above. Thank you Chips for posting this at the top of the thread.
Our President and his family do not deserve this disrespect. We are better than that……
LDS! I agree with you. For some of us who grew up in the 1950’s and 1960’s, this sort of behavior must not be taken lightly. From my reading of history, initially the KKK gangs, with their ridiculous white hooded robes, were not taken seriously. In the end, the KKK and other white supremacist terrorists groups caused so much pain and suffering and their ideology dominated the political system for over a half of the 20th Century.
😀 😀 😀
These Repubs are some fine, upstanding fellas, aren’t they?——stealing from a fund for families of soldiers

This is another story that needs to go viral!!!
The Polling Industrial Complex and The Media “Horse-race” Narrative
// I am writing this in the immediate aftermath of the Joe Biden Beat-down of Lyin Paul Ryan, aka the VP Debates. The Sunshine Patriots and Fair Weather White Guys got what they claimed they wanted all right — the Democratic Party’s #1 Enforcer had high-sticked, body checked, fact-checked and dropped the gloves, all with in the span of 5 minutes. And for 90 minutes, He. Never. Let. Up.
Ryan was left with nothing but smirks, endless water sipping and spin, including talking himself into sending more troops into Afghanistan, scaring seniors with Social Security privatization and Medicare vouchers, and denying the right to choose with a new twist – now Position #671 on Abortion from the Romney/Ryan campaign.
A clear win — the contrast was stark and Ryan was clearly out of his league. On all counts. So were the Hacks happy now? Well sort of. But tonight — unlike last Wednesday’s melt-down – they decided to be “professional”. Their right leaning counter-parts who declared the bullying Romney a clear victor on “style” were now reduced to complaining that Biden was too assertive. And last week scowling bad, but now smiling is out.
And the insta-polls? A CBS snap poll of undecided voters (no demographic detail provided) had 50% declare Biden the winner. And CNN, whose sample of old white men from the South last week declared Romney the overwhelming winner, now reports that a sample with fairly even Republican Democrat and Indie splits ( no demographic at all) declares Ryan the Winner 48% – 44%.
And if the waters were not muddied enough, Nate Silver decides –within an hour, before the dust is even settled – to report these two “polls” as “evidence” of a Biden “hold”. No clear winner – no probable poll impact. As Joe Biden would say, “Malarkey!!” But but but the Page Clicks and the Horse Race must go on. //

PBO is gonna visit Jon Stewart? At least so I heard…
MUST MUST READ! http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/10/us/politics/as-romney-repeats-trade-message-bain-maintains-china-ties.html?pagewanted=all
But there is a twist to the Asimco story that would not fit neatly into a Romney stump speech: Since 2010, it has been owned by Bain Capital, the private equity firm founded by Mr. Romney, who has as much as $2.25 million invested in three Bain funds with large stakes in Asimco and at least seven other Chinese businesses, according to his 2012 candidate financial disclosure and other documents.
That and other China-related holdings by Bain funds in which Mr. Romney has invested are a reminder of how he inhabits two worlds that at times have come into conflict during his campaign for the White House.
As a candidate, Mr. Romney uses China as a punching bag. He accuses Beijing of unfairly subsidizing Chinese exports, artificially holding down the value of its currency to keep exports cheap, stealing American technology and hacking into corporate and government computers.
“How is it China’s been so successful in taking away our jobs?” he asked recently. “Well, let me tell you how: by cheating.”
But his private equity dealings, both while he headed Bain and since, complicate that message.
Read the entire piece. THIS needs to be Tweeted!
One more thing! This show that Bain, and Romney, WILL CONTINUE to invest in China!
Mr. Romney’s campaign insists he has no control over his investments since they are held in a blind trust. That said, a confidential prospectus for one of the Bain funds, obtained by The New York Times, promotes China as a good investment for some of the same reasons that Mr. Romney has said concern him: “Strong fundamentals” like manufacturing wages 85 percent lower than what Americans earn, vast foreign exchange reserves and the likelihood that China will surpass the United States as the world’s largest economy.
“Accordingly, Bain Capital expects to see an increasing array of high-growth companies available for investment,” the prospectus says, noting the relative dearth of private equity in China.
Former President Bill Clinton and rock star Bruce Springsteen to rally for Obama next week in Parma Henry J. Gomez, Plain Dealer Politics Writer 10/13/2012 5:00 AM
PARMA, Ohio — President Barack Obama is turning to some big names to help him turn out the vote in battleground Ohio.
Former President Bill Clinton will speak and rock star Bruce Springsteen will perform Thursday at a get-out-the-vote rally in Parma, Obama’s re-election campaign announced late Friday.
Obama, who will stump the day before in Athens, will not be at the event. Time and venue have yet to be determined, but free tickets will be made available to the public.
Early voting for the Nov. 6 general election began last week. Obama faces Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
Four years ago, Springsteen appeared with Obama at a downtown Cleveland rally the weekend before Election Day. The event drew 80,000.
Springsteen also will headline an Obama event Thursday in Ames, Iowa.
“Bruce Springsteen’s values echo what the president and vice president stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity,” Jim Messina, campaign manager for Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, said in an emailed statement. “His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states and we are thrilled with his ongoing support.”
So The Boss changed his mind, nice! He said he would vote for POTUS, but would not be involved politically this time. Excellent news!
You can vote in Florida at this very moment by going to your local Supervisor of Elections Office to get an absentee ballot, vote and submit it to the office the same day you complete your ballot. Please remember to sign the envelope. You can also call and they will mail it to you. It will arrive the next day. You can fax a request for the ballot. It will arrive the next day. You can mail a request for it. You can also verify that the Supervisor of Elections has received your completed ballot.
Tell all of your family and friends please do not wait until election day. The ballot is very long.
Political mailings get priority treatment in the United States Postal Service.
About the polls, just watch our President and he will tell you how much more effort is necessary in a particular place.
3 anti-Obama AP articles in my little local paper greeting me this a.m.——Romney crowds “surging” (1/4 the size of some of Obama’s crowds which were never mentioned), coal people in Ohio mad at Obama, and GOP seizes on Biden statement on Libya. Then I turn on TV and Ron Mott is saying Repubs feel they are 2 out of 2 on debate wins, so are fired up. So the media is helping to push that false narrative too.
Triple Sigh. Obama vs. Media.
What about how we (Dems) feel?
We don’t count, according to The 47% that Mitt wrote off. So, now the Media follows suit, if your in that 47%, that means you are lazy and you don’t get counted in the likely voter models.
And now msnbc is touting the news that Romney now leads in Fl. Oh and Va.
And in New Hampshire by 5 according to ARG poll. 🙂
All these likely voter models are crap, their is actual early voting going On, and democrats are doing a lot better than republicans, especially in Ohio and Iowa.
Please don’t tout ARG polls. They are considered so inaccurate and so flawed that Electoral-vote refuses to include them in polling data.
I thought that poll was laughable. As a matter of facts all polls are laughable to me. there are absolutely to many polls. 🙂
What are the polls Msnbc is talking about?
Registered voters lead for the President, has changed very little since the debate.
What has changed is the likely voter model, that heavily favors republicans.
Their is something fishy in Denmark!
People should be advised that there is a literal and unprecedented flood of polling of swing states like OH, FL, VA, and NC by RW polling organizations showing Romney leads. Some of these are brand new polling organizations. It is clear to me that this is a strategy to create a “band wagon” effect, most of which was started by the switch from RV (registered voters) to LV (likely voters). If you are a first or second time voter, a young voter, a minority, you have a strong possibility of being excluded from the LV voter screen. So we now have gaps, as pointed out by Jeff Gauvin, of 5-9 pts. between LV and RV. I’m only interested in RV numbers. And I automatically exclude the GOP RW polling organizations like Rasmussen, We Ask America, Suffolk, Gravis Marketing and a whole host of others. And while you’re at it, the nat. tracking polls tell very little if anything about what is happening at the state level, which is where the real election is. In fact our whole attention at this point should mainly be on the ground game and getting out the vote, which OFA is quite good at, and fund raising for the final push.
A word from Bill!
Bravo, you nailed it. The Patty Hearst syndrome.
This is what they did in 2010, 5 polls per day from republican leaning polls became a self fulfilling prophecy. But, they started those polls 1 year before the midterms.
Luckily, this is a presidential election where the electorate is expanded and it probably will not sink in, to little time.
You nailed everything I wanted to say about some of these polls and their methodology.
Thank you Bill R for some perspective on these ‘polls’.
People here need to find another blog to freak out over the polls/pundtwits/cable noise/msm spin. You are only making things worse by reinforcing nonsense faux negative news. Seriously. There are gazillion blogs out there to do your freakout.
Chill the fucking out.
Good Morning amk!
GM donna. How are you doing today ?
There are probably only a handful of pollsters who are legitimate and ethical practitioners in my view. Polling and polling firms have largely become agenda driven propaganda arms of the political agendas of the people who pay them, like media outlets and activist organizations, and political parties. I have my own ideas whose products I value, but they are few, and even those few are inconsistent. And I’m only interested in RV results, in state races mainly. To begin with, how many polling organizations have samples that are 34% cell phone only households? How many sample minorities or young people at anything close to their actual representation? The recent PEW poll had 70% of their sample were 50 and older, and negligible numbers of Latinos. The refusal rate these days apparently of polling is now close to 90% (if PEW is accurate on that at all?). So it may be questionable if any polling has much accuracy.
Now nbc is saying Obama still holds a 6 pt. lead in Ohio, altho they made that news sound precarious. Gave opposite info on msnbc. I continue to be outraged that a momentary 1 point lead by Romney is reported as “a lead”, and a 1-6 point Obama lead is called “a toss up”. And that a 8,000-9,000 crowd for Romney gets headlines as “a surge” and Obama’s crowds of 2, 3, or 4 times as many never gets mentioned at all, let alone calling any of them “a surge”.
It’s a scam!
dotster I posted the exact thing on a thread yesterday – regarding the MSM’s sudden reporting of Romney’s “HUGE” crowds. The problem is we have YouTube and can look at the crowds the McCain/Palin (who LOST the election) were pulling in 2008 – which was 20,000-60,000.

So when Romney pays or buses in people to attend his KKKlan gatherings, the MSM should be focused on the hate speech like the guy in the picture above, not waste our time with crap about 9K crowd size!
President Obama will win re-election.
The media is trying to create a false illusion or narrative and they are trying to save face because after spending billions of dollars, lying, voter suppression, and propping up Willard and everything else they are realizing that their efforts are failing and that they still won’t be victorious against President Obama. They are trying to get in the psyche of the American people and they want them to second guess the legitimacy of the second term of President Obama.
All of this and the GOP will still look like the fools that they are if they think we will fall for this crap of deception.
“They are trying to get in the psyche of the American people and they want them to second guess the legitimacy of the second term of President Obama” – not going to happen if we get the vote out!

I agree with those who say we need to try to force the mainstream news media to cover this story——that an American flag has been taken down and a Chinese flag is flying in Freeport, Illinois. This is the story that the media would usually seize, send national reporters etc. But because the word “Bain” is associated with this company shutdown and outsourcing to China, there is a media blackout.
Tweet that to Lis Smith, they read everything we send them.
Morning all. It is apparently not just RW polls. PPP put out a tweet last night that was of concern to many. We will see their results this evening.
PPP is questionable also. They still exclude cell-phones from their polling. Furthermore, at this point, the sampling you are getting in Ohio is going to be very, very skewed because a good chunk of the electorate in OH has already voted.
The fact that PPP blocked me and BWD on Twitter for calling them out when they made a snarky remark about Elizabeth Warren and PBO’s debate, tells me all I need to know about their agenda.

Looks like the Democrats might be able to pick up a Congressional seat in South FL. Repub, Congressman Riviera paid for mailing 40,000 in cash against the Democrat.
That’s Marco Rubio’s best friend and former roommate.
More dirty RW tactics:
Today is a great day to take action.

Morning everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/10/13/rise-and-shine-325/
Morning all. I just want to say that I have never felt as pessimistic as I have over the last few days. It is inconceivable to me that one debate performance has caused this apparent poll collapse for the President. I don’t believe in conspiracies but I have to say that all the new RW Pollsters, the weird change in voter screens and all the narratives being pushed (such as a pollster going on Fox and despite his own polling showing the contrary says PBO can’t win Fl,Oh or Va) makes me think that this is to set the scene for some serious voter fraud e.g by use of hacked machines etc. Tally has been spot on about this and I think it is playing out before our eyes. The question is, what can be done about it?
These crazies need to be stopped. How?
Actually – I’ve never felt so optimistic as I have over the past few days. I was down in the dumps last week, not because of President Obama’s performance. But because of the fickle support from the left who went absolutely crazy after what they deemed to be a “win” for Romney. It brought to light the very sad state of affairs in this country, with respect to values and common sense. The standard by which people judged that debate were completely warped. Truth didn’t seem to matter. But, as the week wore on, I realized – the same dejection that people felt over the loss of New Hampshire in 2008 was what fueled people to realize that they couldn’t become complacent. That they had to fight every day like their lives depended on it – because it did. And I think that the dejection last week will serve the same purpose.
I heard someone call into Randi Rhodes yesterday and he said that the reason people lost their minds over the debate last week is because of fear. The right wing are afraid of a fake version of President Obama. Everyone knows that if President Obama wins a second term, none of the dire projections from the right will come to pass, because they’re all made up and they don’t exist. But, everyone knows that they have a real reason to fear a win by the Republican party. The threats they pose are absolutely real. And the first presidential debate shocked people into thinking that the things they fear about the Republicans winning in November could very well come to pass. They were shocked out of their complacency. That can only be a good thing, because it should motivate people to pay attention, work hard, vote, and get everyone they know to do the same.
The only way we lose is if people give up. One “bad performance” doesn’t erase four solid years of outstanding performance and record breaking, history making accomplishment. President Obama HAS passed health care reform, restored the economy and the auto industry, managed TARP responsibly, ended the war in Iraq, healed international relations, treated veterans with respect, repealed DADT, invested in education and energy, kept his promises to the native American community, done something about immigration (both in preventing illegal crossings and in providing a solution, albeit temporary, to young undocumented immigrants). Those things are real. As the President said – stay focused.
