VP Biden and PBO are a perfect team…watching them tiogether remind me of watching beach volley ball…PBO set it and VP Biden hit it over. I like the fact they neither one of them care about being the star, they want to win…it is not about them for either one of them, it’s about us; we the people. I love the Obama/Biden team…they are winners!!!!!!!!!!

Now that he has permission to go after Romney he will be even stronger without risk of the angry black man meme. Furthermore, no debate changes the fundamental difference between the two programs. Only our side supports the middle class, seniors, minorities, women, LGBT. The more they campaign and do organizing the better we will do. One of my patients just came back from a work trip to Nevada. He sat at a table with 40 businessmen, all strongly in support of President Obama. People are paying attention. I especially liked the part when asked about their religious beliefs, Ryan said that his Irish Catholic beliefs guide his personal and public life, leaving no doubt that he would impose his own beliefs on everyone. Biden, on the other hand, said even though his personal beliefs were guided by his faith, he and the government have no right to impose their views on everyone.

I think it is important that voters know that the repubs use their so called religion to legislate and to justify their positions re abortion, same-sex marriage. They always talk about their beloved constitution, which clearly states there is suppose to be a space in between the church and government. Frank Schaffer (sp?) has a great book about the beginning of the repubs using the bible/religion to govern.

This + a bajillion. It’s also known as Theocracy. And it’s not just social issues. Even Shrub made comments publicly about how God told him to end tyranny & terrorism in Iran &Afganistan respectively and used that as a justification for war in both of those countries along with those pesky (and non-existent) WMDs. Jeff Charlat’s books, The Family and C Street are a bit of an eye-opener also.

        • 159 cookemom

Sorry but there are other religions practiced here and to single our Catholics as if their view holds more credence than others is wrong. That, plus the folks who use religion to shape their political views know who they are. Those who don’t know how religion impacts folks political views won’t care anyway. It doesn’t belong in politics period, at least not as the candidates identify themselves.

She said Joe nailed it on facts. Ryan had no specifics, as usual. And on Libya, she said that the administration gave out information as they knew. She did not blame the Romney/Ryan campaign for the inquiry, but said that they were looking for something to take advantage of, like Romney had said in the 47% tape. And this found this Libyan situation to be just that and have politicized it.

I don’t have a problem with a recap on TV punditry stuff, but the woe is me, can you believe it, media overdrive stuff gotta go. Fat chance that’ll happen, but we can dream can’t we?

i actively work to keep that stuff out of my life, and it’s become increasing hard to avoid it here too, in the comments specifically. chips keeps the main posts positive with tidbits i don’t see other places so that’s really valuable still. but there are times where it’s impossible just to scroll through certain people’s comments since there are so many now all with stenography of the media, which is stenography of the republican party.

don’t we all know what the media will say already? i mean, really. i see no value in me knowing every detail in what joe scarborough says tomorrow morning. none. mainly because i already know the general essence right now! i’ll always have the main posts at least if current trends are allowed to continue.

I hear you, but different strokes for folks. I can be alright with a synopsis, and I’ve posted a few. I only do that when he has a guest on the show who was good and said something noteworthy. I do not post what Joe or his crew say, cause we already know their slant. I don’t get the Chuck Todd hysteria either. It’s like he shows up on the TV for the very first time each day. As a matter of fact, I don’t get the whole pundit play by play, but that’s just me.

i find it funny how MSNBC panel was so quick to tell us how poor Obama did vs Robot, but they’re acting like what Biden did to Ryan isn’t a big deal. They think Biden won, but they say Ryan didn’t give a weak debate. HUH?! They’re so quick to remind us how Obama got “destroyed” by Robot all the time, and after this debate, THIS what we get from them? They should be jumping out their seats with joy! My position is don’t dish sh*t out, if you can’t take sh*t in. Republicans are good at flinging sh*t everywhere, all over everything, but if someone flings it back at them, it’s time for the smelling salts and fainting couches. For a party whose politicians always jump in front of the first available camera and talk like they’re the bravest folks in the world, they are the biggest wusses and the biggest jokes in the country. Governor O’Malley is right, when people see republican politicians, they should laugh at them. They should have careers in theater instead of in politics.

Will continue pressing that message until we re-elect Obama/Biden and a much stronger Dem House and Senate, i.e., this is a message that we need to continue driving after our successes on 6 Nov right through 2014 mid-terms and beyond. Absolutely, DF! That’s why it’s so important for President Obama and the Democrats, across all layers of governments,– but especially Congress — must win this election to nullify the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! By the way, I am very upbeat about Dr. Carmona. I think he can be a shining star from Arizona. I don’t have much money, but I did send a very, very, small contribution to his campaign just to demonstrate that there are many of us in California who support him 100%. I’ve urged trusted friends to do the same. Just wanted to let you know that I am rooting for your next U.S. Senator from Arizona, Dr. Richard Carmona. If anyone can send a few bucks to his campaign, that would be appreciated, I’m sure. President Clinton was campaigning with him at ASU yesterday…big rally on campus. Carmona and Penzone (to rid us of that nasty piece of work, Arpiao) would be awesome…and of course, PBO….if the Hispanic community here votes…we can turn this place blue! That would be SO fitting to me that that community has the power to do that…especially after SB 1070. That would make me have a perpetual smile:)

    • 367 4morefor44
      October 12, 2012 at 1:48 am

i’m not even sure it’s about profits. many of the big networks and newspapers keep tanking, or bled money for many years, especially when they turned into republican propaganda machines instead of old school journalists, yet they keep doing it. they keep the same people writing or on-air no matter how many years their ratings go down. they never try anything new no matter how much money they lose with “news.” i think the owners of the big media conglomerates, who are a small group of billionaires, bought it all up to promote their own interests, which means getting as many modern day republicans in office as possible.

i just made the mistake of clicking on certain people on twitter, and it seems so many of the newer media people, who get paychecks from the same cabal of billionaires, are onboard with the plan too. i got lost in the land of re-tweets of buzzfeed, politico, cnn, etc., “reporters” and you’d literally think lyin ryan dominated tonight on style and on details of the issues. it’s opposite world all the time with republicans and the media. also judging by the photos, it it looks they’re all about 25-30 year olds, so we’ll be having this same fight for a long time.

seems to me to beat the trend is to keep winning elections despite the media, and maybe then we’ll get enough politicians on there who will re-regulate the media as it used to be, and actually let the “free market” work again in “the news” business and maybe follow the anti-trust laws republican teddy roosevelt put in place, since being republican shills doesn’t not make them more money in terms of ratings, and we have many years of data to prove it now. however, it does make the owners of the media tons of money right now by keeping their taxes low and by keep alowing them to suck up every media outlet possible. bain capital was a big player in doing this in the radio industry with clear channel. it’s all a giant scam. re-electing obama/biden and winning the house and senate again next month is the first step in fixing this. forward!! and in 2016, where elizabeth warren is the perfect person for president obama in which to pass the torch!!

That was indeed a great Zinger by Pierce! Charles Pierce was brilliant in his analysis of the VP debate. To be honest, I didn’t know much about Paul Ryan beyond the media hype. From my perspective he did not come across well in tonight’s debate. Like his running mate on top of the ticket, Ryan spewed talking points mixed in with lies about the President. Obviously, MSM media are still in love withRyan. That is why they just couldn’t accept the fact that VP Joe Biden, in tonights debate, trounced him, both on telling the truth and on articulating an agenda based on principles.

This, This, This, Meta! You know both Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are bullies; but they are also cowards. That is why they whine and cry when their BS is exposed.

Did CNN poll only old white people from the south again? Joe was great.
I still think people missed the presidents rebuttal because Romney kept repeating lies. I used the OFA dashboard to find a debate watch. I’ve only been in my current location for a month. With organization like that and people like I find on this sight, we’ll get the win for our president.

Why are the undecided so stupid in Virgina? I’m watching CNN and Erin Burnett asking the undecideds. I swear these people just ignore what is actually going on today.

CNN saying the lying ryan won the debate, I swear to the gods this is going to fire up the Obama/Biden base and the voters are coming out in droves now…nothing like firing up a base! Thanks CNN, you actually pissed enough people off.

CNN is dishonest! It’s trying to outdo FOX in supporting deranged right wing Republicans. As far as I am concerned, any one who says that Paul Ryan won tonight’s VP debate is a bold faced liar! If that’s what the so called undecided voters are saying then they are lying about being undecided. Ryan said nothing new that he Mitt Romney haven’t said before. He certainly was not truthful about everything he said.

The dishonest CNN poll. “SPECIAL NOTE OF CAUTION #2: The sample of debate-watchers in this poll were 31% Democratic and 33% Republican. That indicates that the sample of debate watchers is about eight points more Republican than an average CNN poll of all Americans, so the respondents were more Republican than the general public.

You guys are just learning that CNN ( TeaNN ) is not worth sh*t. Remember they used to say, CNN the most trusted news around. Now I say that’s a big lie, because CNN has become like FOX so call news, not worth watching. And I don’t watch CNN. They can’t even be fair about a debate poll. They have to fix it to play out their agenda. Not Trustworthy. That’s CNN.

Been up since 4am cdt, our business was broken into, they did not get in to the drugs (pharmacy), but hubby is tuck there the glass replacement comes. Saw a bit on Morning Joe, and Mika quoted Cnn poll, she is so half-baked to be a dem. Met her this summer at a conference, where she held the mike for me as Joe was spouting off on stage. I get so frustrated at her bi-polar behavior when it comes to standing up to Joe and the boys. We have to drive this discussion, because the repubs are trying push the narrative that Joe was over-the-top and rude to Ryan’s calm and well spoken points. Nonsense, Joe did the do!

Interesting no one posting the cbs poll that gave it to Biden 2-1.

Bill Press is damn near equally annoying: If I hear him say ‘Biden did what PBO should have done’, or “Biden better be prepping PBO from now until Tuesday’, one more time, I’m going to scream. Why do the alleged progressive pundits have to do damage?

Don’t care. The base got the debate they wanted. Biden surpassed all expectations. He was even better and more razor-sharp than he was 4 years ago with Palin. He did everything we needed done, and then some.

Now if the whiny left who have the privilege of a microphone could stop making PBO look bad…….

I don’t think Biden couldhave gone after Palin the way he did with Ryan because he knew they would play the ” sexist, misogynist” card if he did. He was smart to play it cool then.
But with Smirkin’ Ryan? gloves off!! Boy was it a joy to watch!!

Biden couldn’t but he eviscerated her anyway, without inviting any sexist b.s. (although the RWNJ’s tried). Biden was brilliant in that debate and even more brilliant last night.

That’s only part of it: it’s the coordinated effort of Republicans to have their loser VP nominee look good. Imagine if we had done that last week? We would have blunted a great deal of the damage.

Good Morning TOD. Happy Happy Happy Day. It matters not what they all say about this Debate, VP Joe Biden nailed that lyin-ryan to the floor and served a good plate of “whup a$$” Just look at that photo of the two of them passing each other after the Debate. You could read ryan’s thoughts, he knew he got beat.

Silly sausage, thinking that just memorizing the names of some places in Afghanistan and reeling them off would impress Joe. Perhaps fool him into thinking that he ryan knew anything substantial about what is really happening in that country. Joe put him right in short order.

Everyone woke up to VP Joe’s win so they can’t take it away.

I see what many in the media are trying to do—-Today Show opened with “no clear winner” so “nothing has changed”. And Charles Todd’s report mostly focused on Biden’s interrupting style—–which was a bad thing this time when it was a good thing at the Obama debate, I guess. Need to push back against this pathetic spinning attempt.
