Now that’s what I am talking about! Yahoo! Look at that smile!! He is getting ready to meet me for a lovely train ride down the coast to Newport News, VA. I am sure of it.
Meet Three!. Calls for our wonderful team today. Remember to donate before mid-night to answer our beautiful “Smashing Ms. Nancy’s” call today for the DCCC.
Our team will need the House back and a solid Senate. Please remember. (((((( Love our VP so much))))))HZ
Good one from AFL-CIO Chips. I was coming back to post that one, but ran across this.
Sigh! It’s like I instinctively know just when to submit a comment immediately after the new post announcement! Oh well, here goes.
Can somebody talk OFA or one of the Superpacs into making this a new ad?
It’s a righteous BITCH SLAP to Mittster and the Repugs! Bang, Zoom, right in the kissah!!
The tick is to watch/play the video FROM YouTube.
When you’re watching video from YouTube, you’ll see a little button below the video that’s labeled “Share” — Click that button.
That opens a little box with the direct URL (web address) to the video for embedding — copy that URL (highlight it and click CTRL-C)
Come here (or to any WordPress blog) and paste that URL in your comment (click CTRL-V).
Voila!
No… it’s a special URL that you can see when you watch a video from it’s original YouTube page.
For example, scroll up so you can see the FDR video above. See that little YouTube symbol at the bottom of the video? Click on that and it’ll open up a new tab or window where you can watch the video from it’s original YouTube page.
When you watch the video from it’s original page on YouTube, just below the box where the video is playing, there are some buttons, one of them is labeled “Share”. When you click “Share”, a little box is opens up just below the row of buttons. Inside this box is the URL that you’d copy if you wanted to embed that video into a comment here on the Obama Diary blog.
Note: This only works for videos that are posted on YouTube. WordPress doesn’t allow embeds of videos from other sources.
Open the youtube site that has the vid you want to post. Copy the url (Just click the url box and then right click and then click copy). Come to this site and then paste it here. Voila.
Of course, our blog tyrant(ess) does not allow you to post pics here. Down with blog tyrant(ess).
Something about him meeting the Seal at a party, basically shaking his hand and moving on. Then apparently coming back around every few minutes to introduce himself anew. He was just doing his car salesman thing and wasn’t even remembering the face of the person he just met. People are just figures in space to this cardboard man.
His friend of 20 years reported he had told the story of what a robotic jerk Romney was: he came to a party to which he was not invited and came up to him 4 times, each time introducing himself with the same line “I am Mitt Romeny, a political candidate.”
Just a reference to the Elizabeth Warren accolades on the previous post. She was a member of the championship debate team at Northwest Classen High School here in Oklahoma City. That high school had a regional and national championship team back when she attended. She had good training. I knew one of her teachers. Did Scott bring up the Native American again? I don’t think he gets it…..she is proud of that heritage. He is demeaning.
Yeah…I see the PBO tomorrow. Can’t wait. Hope to get pictures although the ticket say no cameras allowed. Will let you guys know. Wish I could take you here at TODville but especially, vcprezofan2!!
Thank you AuntSis! 😆 I’ll get ready just in case you find at the last minute that tho cameras aren’t allowed, you might be able to squeeze in a friend who won’t take up any more space than your camera. I’ll stand real close to you and we can just pretend to be inseparable. Failing that, make a mental note of EVERY_THING, and give a couple of extra ‘4 more years!’ shouts on my behalf.
Howdy TOD family! You folks don’t miss a beat so this has probably already been posted. But a great piece by Bob Cesca:
Illustrative of his contempt for the truth, Mitt Romney’s campaign website continues to host the following statement: “Since President Obama assumed office three years ago, federal spending has accelerated at a pace without precedent in recent history.”
On Friday, we discovered yet another reason why this is a SUPER-COLOSSAL LIE.
With the end of fiscal year 2012, the Congressional Budget Office announced the 2012 federal budget deficit: $1.1 trillion. Taken purely at face value, this number is enormous. Yet every Democrat, and especially the Obama campaign, ought to be telling anyone who will listen: Not only has the president cut the deficit by $312 billion during his first term (so far), but he’s cut the deficit by $200 billion in the past year alone. And the CBO projected that the 2013 Obama budget, if enacted as is, would shrink the deficit to $977 billion — a four year total of nearly $500 billion in deficit reduction……..
AFL-CIO: Children Speak Out Against the American Crystal Sugar Company Lockout (BCTGM)
Children of locked out American Crystal Sugar Company workers gathered to write letters to CEO Dave Berg and board members about how the lockout is affecting their families and communities.
For over 14 months, 1300 American Crystal Sugar Company workers have been locked out of their jobs. They are members of BCTGM.
The AFL-CIO has announced a boycott of American Crystal Sugar products if the company does not end the lockout by Oct. 15.
What is wrong with these greedy CEO’s and board members? I don’t understand how people can cross a picket line then later complain of being underpaid or not receiving benefits?

Mitt Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan were scrambling on Wednesday to present a coherent position on abortion amid accusations from Democrats that the Republican presidential candidate had hidden his true beliefs in an attempt to appeal to moderate voters.
In the wake of a Romney interview with the Des Moines Register newspaper in which he said his agenda included no legislation to restrict abortion, his campaign team launched a damage limitation exercise to assure conservative voters that he remained staunchly pro-life.
Within hours of the comments being published on Tuesday, Romney’s campaign insisted that he was against abortion, telling the conservative National Review Online that Romney “would, of course, support legislation aimed at providing greater protections for life.
“Mitt Romney is proudly pro-life, and he will be a pro-life president,” said his spokeswoman Andrea Saul in a statement.
I can’t believe that motherfucking bastard has the utter GALL TO WANT TO BE PRESIDENT after all the lives he ruined at Bain. FUCK HIM AND THE OVER-PRIVILEGED HORSE HE RODE IN ON.
What is at stake in this election is the dignity of all Americans. There will be many children hitting their lifetime cap in their short lifetime. Many Seniors will be left out of Medicaid in nursing homes. If their relatives can not care of them, what will they do? We did not stay involved after President Obama was elected. Supporters did not stay involved. We let Fox News create an astro turf Tea Party with the help of Dick Army. A Fox commentator was at every event. Misconceptions were told on Fox and other news organizations reported on Fox News stories as facts. We let them give Sarah Palin the spotlight. And Glen Beck. Why did we stop? Did anyone write letters to the Editors to correct the lies? An Internet supporter cannot just post to an Obama web site and think they are helping the President get re-elected. If we can’t reach out to those who get discouraged, what kind of community are we? Most liberals whined about not getting Universal coverage. Did that help Pres. Obama or the Tea Party? We got so any great things from Obama Care. It must go down in history as ObamaCare. He will be in the history books for a good thing. It can be improved upon, just like any new program. Now there are no lifetime caps. People can’t be denied because of pre-existing conditions. Many people lost good jobs and are now working at jobs with no health care benefits. They will not be denied coverage and be charged outrageous rates. The insurance companies must pay at least 80% of their money on medical care and 20% on Administrative care. Wellness check ups are free. That will begin to help bring down medical costs. Students are covered until age twent-six on their parents plan. We must write letters to our Representatives in Congress on issues we feel strongly about. WhiteHouse.gov is an excellent site to find out how to reach your representative. You can google their name if you know it. You can google your state government to find out. That is where you can find your State Representatives also. Be aware of local elections. County Commisioners, the Sheriff, the City Council have great control of your everyday rights. Think about the Secretary of State in Ohio who could suppress the vote in Romneys favor. Get involved, stay involved. We are the people, We are the Government. Take time to read the preamble to the Constitution. I guess this counts as my ninth post, if you’re counting.
In a move that seemed inevitable, the campaign of Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) has now released a series of TV ads featuring survivors of sexual assault criticizing GOP challenger Rep. Todd Akin’s views on emergency contraception. Two of the spots feature women who identify themselves as personally against abortion. One of them, identified as “Diana,” also identifies herself as a Republican. “In the hospital, I was offered emergency contraception. Because of my personal beliefs, I declined. Here’s what else I believe: No woman should be denied that choice,” she said. ”I’ve never voted for Claire McCaskill, but because of Todd Akin, I will now.”
President Obama with sh.t help from congress has got the US through the worst recession since the 1930s. Everything that is now being seen on the economic scene – employment going up, debt going down – will continue – regardless as to who wins the election. The GOP will spend bigger than ever – they just will spend on defense and millionaires – nothing for the rest of the country – the democrats will spend to bring healthcare to all & a safety net to the disadvantaged. They will also spend on infrastructure for the country – much needed and sadly missing in GOP agendas.
Spending in both areas will help the economy, but the democrat spending will also help the people. It is time the economists laid this out very clearly for everyone to see and understand. I sometimes think I must be one of the few people in existence who LIKES it when my taxes go up. I have never objected to paying income taxes – they benefit everyone including me and my family. The rubbish that the GOP talk about tax is simply unbelievable to sane people.
Hey now. Let’s not brush everyone with the same pen. We need to make it clear to the voting public: It was the traitorous, obstructionist Norquist-lackey Teapublicans who sabotaged damn near every attempt at fixing the economy. We must kick out the riff-raff, keep the patriotic Dems in place and give them some new colleagues who want to come to Washington and honorably get the people’s business done!
I know there are good guys dudette – I’m just sick of hearing GOPers who want to live on the public purse (ie get elected) say how much they hate taxes and no-one should pay tax. How the hell do they think they congress will get paid if there are no taxes. grrrrrrrrrr
I foolishly watched some of the Carmona/Flake (what a great name for an idit) debate when even Carmona was saying taxes were bad.
True, if they want to cut the budget so much, they can start by cutting their exorbitant pay for part-time work and their bloated staffs and bloated benefits!
99ts you are not alone. People are obsessed with taxes and will go to any lengths to avoid doing their part to help the community, the country or future generations. Like you, I have never objected to paying taxes. It’s something you do as a citizen, like voting.
I had one of my clients tell me he likes driving on good paved roads, drinking clean tap water, breath clean air, have the police dept. and fire dept to help him when needed, so he doesn’t mind paying taxes.
GM vc. Speaking of lawyers (and engineers like myself).
An engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. St. Peter checks his dossier and says, “Ah, you’re an engineer. You are in the wrong place.”
So, the engineer reports to the gates of hell and is let in. Pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After a while, they’ve got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy.
One day, God calls Satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer, “So, how’s it going down there in hell?”
Satan replies, “Hey, things are going great. We’ve got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there’s no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next.”
God replies, “What? You’ve got an engineer? That’s a mistake. He should never have gotten down there; send him up here.”
Satan says, “No way.” I like having an engineer on the staff, and I’m keeping him.”
God says, “Send him back up here or I’ll sue.”
Satan laughs uproariously and answers, “Yeah, right. And just where are you going to get a lawyer?”
Heard an excerpt of Stacey Dash’s interview by Piers Morgan on the radio this morning on the way to way. Hands were full — couldn’t change channel. The woman actually said that unlike some people who are supporting PBO because of the color of his skin, she’s supporting Romney because of (get this) “the content of his character” … Ha ha ha ha haha haha! I nearly drove into the back of an 18-wheeler laughing at that! What a ditz!
I think the ugly racist hate she’s gotta because of her choice is repulsive, but really, someone who honestly admires Mitt for his character has too many missing brain cells to be much of a loss for our side. More power to her.
Was she on Joy Behar’s show earlier tonight? Caught a little of it as I unpacked. Know it was an AA woman who talked over Joy and the other woman, interrupted over and over……she was a B—- and a J—! At least, what little I saw/heard.
I don’t know who this dame is, but poor thing, she does not understand the meaning of ‘character’, might have made more sense if she’d said she was choosing Mitt because of the colour of his skin.
D-list Af-Am actress, who’s biggest claim to fame was her role in “Clueless” [as prophetic a film name as there ever was].
More recently starring in tv shows The Game and Single Ladies, from which she was recently fired because of her bad attitude.
TY and say no more about this dame, ‘ “Clueless” [as prophetic a film name as there ever was].’ Going by Ms D-list’s quote today, she still has ‘attitude’. She and Romney seem to have quite a bit in common; neither learns from their ‘mistakes’.
Please excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor. But who the hell is this woman who has the nerve to talk about she is supporting Mitt Romney because of the content of his character, Romney has no character, He has sold his soul, and he is a bold face liar. So it is clear that woman Stacey Dash is full of alot of bull sh*t.
“I have no doubt Sen Brown is a good husband and a good father to his daughters, but this is an issue that affects ALL of our daughters and our granddaughters. And what matters here is how Sen. Brown votes.
So he’s gone to Washington and he’s had some good votes. But he’s had exactly one chance to vote for equal pay for equal work, and he voted no. He had exactly one chance to vote for insurance coverage for birth control and other preventive services for women. He voted no. And he had exactly one chance to vote for a pro-choice woman — from Massachusetts — to the United States Supreme Court, and he voted no.
Those are BAD votes for women.
The women of Massachusetts need a Senator they can count on not SOME of the time, but ALL of the time. I want to go to Washington to BE THERE for ALL of our daughters and ALL of our granddaughters.
This one really matters. There is a LOT at stake here…
… And I want to be blunt. We should not be fighting about equal pay for equal work and access to birth control in 2012. These issues were resolved years ago until the Republicans brought them back.”
– Soon-To-Be Massachussetts Senator-Elect Elizabeth Warren
i saw the second half. i was saying earlier, and watching this clip again above, i’m comfortable saying elizabeth warren’s performance today was quite literally one of the best debate performances i’ve ever seen. i still am stunned by how good she was, and there are a bunch of clips like the one above. basically debate perfection (could go on and on about the details). and to top it off, she many times fully embraced president obama and his policies. unreal! she needs to be president in 2016.
I will be watching tomorrow’s debate on CSPAN and not on MSNBC.
I predict that MSNBC will have their hot headed pundiots ready to do a full and prolonged analysis of how VP Biden was a much better debater than PBO (or some version of that narrative), instead of doing their jobs – which is contrasting Biden with his opponent Lyin’ Ryan.
There will hardly be any discussion of Lyin’ Ryan, no matter how many lies he tells. I will happily admit if I turn out to be wrong about MSNBC tomorrow, but needless to say I won’t be watching them before, during or after the debate.
hf – since the debate whoha I haven’t been to MSNBC, HUFF, Sullivan, etc etc. If they can’t talk sense they get no clicks from me. I watched PBO debate on CSPAN & couldn’t believe the rubbish that the press came up with – so I have just come to TOD since then. Chips finds the truth to post.
And Don’t Forget Gloria Borger and Wolfe with their incessant I call this round for blah blah blah, then You have Elliot Sputzer and Cenk Uhygur who both sound like they want to beat the crap out of the President, and then the masterful Al Gore, who got us all into this mess to begin with- he couldn’t even beat Bush, maybe it was the Altitude?
Good grief. These Pundits are a joke!
I have sworn off MSNBC. There were the only channel I watched. I quit them, all of them. ED and Chris, I don’t care how many positive stories they do about PBO, I can’t watch them and won’t for a long time.
OMG. Just caught a bit of the previous segment on LOD and realized they were talking about a TN congressman from neighboring district. Quickly went to our newspapers website and sure enough: http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/oct/10/huffington-post-tn-congressman-scott-desjarlais-ha/. Good Lord–four previous affairs and this one with a patient and the tape is about her getting an abortion!!!!!!! This pro–life, family values congressman. I scanned through some of the comments. The Dems are really giving it to the conservatives here in the area. Whatcha you want to bet he’ll be re-elected though? After all, it’s the Bible belt. He will ask forgiveness and most important: IOKIYAR–always, always IOKIYAR. SICK!!! What a bunch of hypocrites!
Washington — Michigan is not a must win state for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, his campaign said Wednesday.
Despite new polls showing Romney has narrowed the gap over President Barack Obama in Michigan from double digits, Romney’s deputy campaign manager Katie Packer Gage said the campaign has made no decisions to boost efforts in Michigan.
“There are some places that we really feel we have to win in order to win this election. There are many paths for us that get to the White House — they don’t all go through Michigan for us,” Gage told The Detroit News in an interview Wednesday. “For Barack Obama they do. So we want to make sure that he’s got to fight for it and he can’t just take it for granted.”
The Romney campaign said late Wednesday that Ann Romney will add a stop in southeast Michigan to campaign on Friday after attending an event in Grand Rapids earlier in the day.
“Mitt and Ann Romney were born and raised in Michigan and the state holds a special place in their hearts,” said Sean Fitzpatrick, a Romney spokesman. “…We have a record-setting ground game that has made over 2 million voter contacts, nearly four times as many as this point in 2008. Make no mistake, we are in Michigan, and we intend to win Michigan.”
Gage expressed some irritation with the focus by reporters on the lack of ad spending… [more in the article]
mittbot’s shameless exploitation of a dead navy seal goes international. See murka? Rest of the world is watching your klown show.
Slain ex-US Navy Seal Glen Doherty’s mother rebukes Romney
The mother of an American killed in last month’s Libya consulate attack has said his death has been used by the Romney campaign for political purposes.
The Republican presidential nominee has been citing his meeting some years ago with former US Navy Seal Glen Doherty.
///
“I don’t trust Romney,” Mrs Doherty told Boston news station WHDH.
“He shouldn’t make my son’s death part of his political agenda. It’s wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,” she said.
///
Friends of Doherty have spoken publicly about his encounter with Mr Romney at a Christmas party.
His friend, Elf Ellefsen, told a Seattle radio station: “He said it was very comical. Mitt Romney approached him ultimately four times, using this private gathering as a political venture to further his image.
“He kept introducing himself as Mitt Romney, a political figure. The same introduction, the same opening line. Glen believed it to be very insincere and stale,” Mr Ellefsen added, according to ABC News.
Election officials always say “human error” is to blame, not computers. But Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher refuses to be silent about her concerns for elections including the upcoming presidential election. Bucher said: “You know the first thing that they tell you is you’re going to scare the voters,” Bucher said. “Well you know what… we’re scared too.”
Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher is scared because her office discovered, and then proved, that a software error flipped vote totals between candidates, assigning losing candidate’s the vote totals of the winning candidate. See http://miami.cbslocal.com/2012/10/09/cbs4-investigates-palm-beach-countys-2012-ballot-debacle/ Winners of at least two local races from March had previously been announced and certified, but had to be reversed because of the software problem.
Bucher is concerned that many problems will not be detected by the required audits, and that the presidential election could be affected.
“The company didn’t own up to it real quickly and neither did the state. And we had to prove that it was a software error and we did so.”
Bucher said its time to hold Florida accountable– the State of Florida tests and certifies the voting machines for the state. Florida is one of just a handful of states that opted out of the federal program that certifies voting machines… deciding to do it on its own. Bucher said she is not confident in the system and would love to change the system she uses. She also said that the pickings are slim when it comes to finding a better choice.
“What we’re finding out, is that there are problems with almost every system in the United States,” said Bucher… [more in the article]
How come I’m just hearing about this jail bit? What for? How am I supposed to visit you if I don’t know you were in jail? Anyway, until the case is settled, when you have a message, drop it out your cell window and I’ll deliver it for you.
http://t.co/gBoqDWnd This might be a lovely photo of HHDL shaking hands with Dave Matthews at Madison Square Garden on 10/9 (if I copied it correctly) If I did not, oops, and my apologies! 😳
Watched the PBS Frontline documentary tonight, “The Choice 2012” which aired last night. I found the ending to be chilling. Someone that knows Mitt well said when he gets that look in his eye and decides what he wants, he will do anything to get it. We obviously are seeing that in the flipflops etc but just the way it was said was stunning.
Former Gov. Mitt Romney’s self-described position on choice has shifted from pro-choice to anti-choice.
As governor, Romney vetoed a bill giving rape survivors information about and timely access to emergency contraception. Fortunately, the Massachusetts state legislature voted to override Romney’s veto. 1
In April 2012, two anti-choice groups, the National Right to Life Committee and the Susan B. Anthony List, endorsed Gov. Romney for president.2
Former Gov. Romney has said repeatedly that he would be an anti-choice president:
In 2007, former Gov. Romney said, “I will be a pro-life president.” 3
That same year he also said, “I am pro-life and I support pro-life legislation…. I think the Roe v. Wade one-size-fits-all approach is wrong.”4
When asked if the repeal of Roe v. Wade would be a good day for America, former Gov. Romney responded, “Absolutely.” 5
Former Gov. Romney also said “absolutely” when asked, “Would you have supported a constitutional amendment that would have established the definition of life at conception?” 6
Vowing to defund Planned Parenthood, former Gov. Romney wrote that he would “eliminate Title X family planning programs,” which includes federal funding for birth control and cancer screenings. 7
In discussing how he would address the country’s debt, former Gov. Romney responded, “Of course you get rid of Obamacare, that’s the easy one, but there are others,” he said. “Planned Parenthood, we’re going to get rid of that.”8
He vowed to eliminate President Obama’s policy ensuring that women can get contraceptive coverage without a copay. He called the policy “a violation of conscience.” 9
Romney told the Des Moines Register that he would reinstate the global gag rule, the policy that blocks U.S. family-planning funds to any overseas health center that provides, refers for, or even takes a pro-choice position on abortion. 10
Read Gov. Romney’s full profile.
In Florida, before the debate, it was a 1-point race with Obama leading 47 percent to 46 percent. Now, it is still a 1-point race with Obama leading 48 percent to 47 percent.
In Ohio, where there has been a renewed focus by the Romney campaign after the former Massachusetts governor’s strong debate performance, Obama leads 51 percent to 45 percent. That’s a 2-point uptick for Romney.
But the Ohio poll also included an 11-point advantage for self-described Democrats — 40 percent to 29 percent for Republicans. Last week’s poll had a narrower 5-point advantage for Democrats. . (In 2008, the party identification split was 39 percent Democrat and 31 percent Republican, according to exit polls.)
One factor that may have pulled the party ID more heavily toward Democrats in this poll was early voting. One-in-five respondents (18 percent) said they have already voted, and, of those, almost two-thirds (63 percent) said they voted for Obama.
-/
18% early voted in Ohio, 63% voted for Obama. That’s great fucking news!!!
That’s a fantastic news. 63 %. Even if Obama took a ten point shellacking over debate, which is highly questionable, if that trend continues, we are looking at about 53-47 thrashing of mittbot.
Looks like Tucker Carlson’s Daily Caller and Drudge and all the Internetz Nutballs might have been a little off when they were blaring “Shock poll! Obama could lose Illinois!!!” a month or 2 ago, citing some fly by night pretend pollster with all kinds of alarming garbage poll results. In fact I was still seeing it cited by rt. wing crazies within the last week.
Obama holds a 55-36 lead in Illinois, according to new Chgo Trib poll out tonight. It’s a no contest, of course. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/ct-met-obama-romney-illinois-1011-20121011,0,5710749.story
let’s recap this week in debates: president obama gets mittbot to say live on national tv that mittbot supports a voucher system for social security. our president wins the debate on that alone.
tonight, elizabeth warren, while praising president obama and his policies all night, gets scoot brown to say regarding the norquist tax pledge, “i’m glad grover norquist agrees with me.” another major win on that one point alone. two great debate performances by our team in one week!
now tomorrow night: lyin ryan is a good spewer of talking points, be warned (way better than sarah palin), but gets mad quickly when called on the lack of logic and evidence to support his lies. he’s used to being able to then aggressively bully people who try counter his lies, but joe biden is in a league of his own, so i’m especially interested in tomorrow’s debate. one possible problem i see is that biden has been out of the day-to-day rumble aspects of politics for a few years now, so i wonder if he’s rusty in this format, although he is one of the most wily and experienced politicians in america today. lyin’ ryan has this false sense of confidence brought on my his supporters, called the mainstream media, and could be prone to make mistakes brought on by hubris, so tomorrow is the biggest wildcard of a debate to me. should be interesting! (but not that big of a deal either way…we’re winning this because of o.f.a. and the ground game, and the media almost never talks about that, which is good for us!)
Quote by man from Highland Ranch, CO. My daughter used to live there – and was so glad to move away!! She and her husband called it Hitler’s Ranchy. They were creeped out by the extreme Christianity and Stepford-like mentality.
The United States hit China with tariffs as high as 250 percent on Wednesday for selling solar cells below fair value, while also imposing a separate 16 percent tariff to counteract Chinese subsidies to its solar firms.
The final ruling on the tariffs, which are slightly higher than preliminary ones set by the administration in May, follows a Commerce Department investigation on Chinese trade practices. Though Commerce can begin collecting those duties, the U.S. International Trade Commission must approve the tariffs by Nov. 23 for them to stand.
Commerce said China has sold solar cells in the U.S. anywhere from 18 to 250 percent below fair value. The investigation also determined China has unfairly and directly subsidized between 15 and 16 percent of its solar cell exporters’ costs.
For most of the Chinese firms that sell solar cells or panels in the U.S., the tariffs will range between 34 and 47 percent.
President Obama will likely use the decision to back up assertions that he has been tough on China.
GOP White House challenger Mitt Romney argues Obama has not done enough to combat Chinese trade practices.
But Obama has upped pressure on China in recent weeks, first by imposing tariffs on tires imported from China and then by blocking a Chinese firm from buying four U.S. wind farm companies.
House Democratic Whip Steny Hoyer (Md.) said finalizing the tariffs was another example of Obama’s resolve.
“Today’s decision by the President to impose tough tariffs on Chinese solar imports is just the latest step by the Obama Administration to get tough on foreign companies who don’t play by the rules,” Hoyer said in a statement. “I applaud his move, which will help American manufacturers compete here at home and overseas.”
Of course, MSMBC running with the story from the Daiky Caller(Kolcjak the Nught stalker works there).
The story that says the President went to Raddatz Weeding in the early 90s, the Ex Husband whom This President knows, is why he went to the Wedding.
Allegedly, this is all a Luberal conspiracy to hive Joe Biden the Debate edge.
Playing the Refs again. Unfortunately, sometimes it works, so why stop now?
Sigh!
Steve Schmidt- tremendous gains by Robney amongst Democrats, best week of his campaign, tremendous momentum, yada yada yada.
They spun the God damn swing state polls to say that Obama is doomed. Quite the opposite, actually.

Unofficially, early voting has already begun in Florida – and the Obama For America campaign is encouraging supporters to get out and vote now if they worry they might have trouble making it to the polls Nov. 6.
Under Florida law, voters can walk into any county Supervisor of Elections offices, request an absentee ballot in person, fill it out on the spot [some counties may require the voter to do so outside the building] and then turn it in over the counter immediately. Absentee voting began last week.
The process is called “in-office absentee voting” and Democrats are encouraging it this fall now that Florida has reduced the number of days this year that people can vote early with ballot machines.
“We’re encouraging everyone to go out and vote for President [Barack] Obama, and not wait until election day,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said Wednesday at the Orange County Supervisor of Elections Office, as the Obama campaign rolled out its “Vote Now!” effort.
Last year the Florida Legislature passed a new law that restricts early voting to eight days, ending the Saturday before the election.
Dyer and other Obama supporters said they developed the Vote Now! Campaign has emerged as a way to respond to that law and advise voters they are not limited to those eight days if they want to vote early. The campaign is advising people of the option whenever it contacts them by phone or through door-knocking visits.
“It’s really just a way to get more people out to vote,” said OFA national co-chair and Lynnette Acosta, an Orlando-based volunteer. “On Nov. 6 it might be raining, you might have to work, you might have a child who is sick. It’s just to make it easier for people to vote.”
Orange County will have ten locations available for early voting, Oct. 27 through Nov. 3. The Supervisor of Elections office normally is open Monday through Friday, but also will be open Sunday, Nov. 4, for in-office absentee voting.
Well, he better savor the moment. While he and his MSM cronies are pushing polls with questionable and hypothetical “likely voter” models, PBO/Dems are busy doing the ground work that actually result in REAL votes.
The intro:
Why is it that every time Mitt Romney or a member of his family tries to tell a personal anecdote it’s always a freaking disaster. The unflappable Mitt knew exactly what to do when the family dog strapped on the roof of his car lost his bowels all over the back window. The fun-loving Mitt tripped his daughter-in-law rather than lose a race to her. And this latest one is just unbelievable. Let’s reconstruct it.
It’s either Christmastime 2009 or 2010, Mitt can’t remember which. Someone sticks a flier in the Romney family mailbox down in San Diego. It’s an invitation to a neighborhood Christmas Party. The Romneys read the flier but they had no intention of attending the party until they noticed a gathering of people practically across the street. “Well, now, if it’s not such a long walk, why don’t we pop in after all, Ann?”
So, off the Romneys go to attend the neighborhood Christmas Party. They show up, but it turns out that it isn’t the neighborhood Christmas Party and they haven’t been invited.

Joe Walsh has become so poisonous in Illinois that Dems in other districts are using his name in their TV ads, saying their opponent voted with JOE WALSH on this or that piece of legislation. See ya later, Joe——MUCH!

More AWESOME SAUCE from DU (http://www.democraticunderground.com/101766197)
Excellent FDR clip shown on the Daily Show last night. He nails Mitt from the grave.
Can somebody talk OFA or one of the Superpacs into making this a new ad?
It’s a righteous BITCH SLAP to Mittster and the Repugs! Bang, Zoom, right in the kissah!!
How do you post these videos? I can’t figure it out.
Voila!
Um, that’s “trick” 🙂
Do you mean the URL for The Obama Diary?
But really, thank goodness she doesn’t! Imagine what a god awful mess TOD would be with all of us rascals posting pics! Yikes, stripes!
But we promise we will behave.
Down with blog tyrant(ess).
Look at this big ass Crowd to see our First lady-
But but but the enthusiasm Crap…
Was it true that he met him?
Something about him meeting the Seal at a party, basically shaking his hand and moving on. Then apparently coming back around every few minutes to introduce himself anew. He was just doing his car salesman thing and wasn’t even remembering the face of the person he just met. People are just figures in space to this cardboard man.
But is that true? Were there witnesses to back his story? Excluding Ann?
His friend of 20 years reported he had told the story of what a robotic jerk Romney was: he came to a party to which he was not invited and came up to him 4 times, each time introducing himself with the same line “I am Mitt Romeny, a political candidate.”
First Lady had over 3k in Durango Colorado-

University of Miami?
Yes, sir!

Romney’s abortion comments leave campaign scrambling to unify ticket
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014262752

Welcome home. Welcome home! WELCOME HOME! 😉 🙂 🙂 🙂

Wonderful post….keep them coming….you are right…I am guilty!
McCaskill goes nuclear on Todd Akin [ This HAD to be done. These spots are none too soon and exceedingly WELL DONE!]

[origin: http://atr.rollcall.com/missouri-claire-mccaskill-releases-ads-featuring-sexual-assault-survivors/%5D
Y’know, I love these, but wish she would include the men who support these women.
Good point. Tell her!
Just did by email. She is one of the close races I contribute to.

Lol! The man is a global joke 🙂
Never was there a truer word
That was funny, lol. 🙂
De-evolution.
Good carton about the Embassy Security Witch Hunt! Wish I could tweet it! 😦
GM folks. Everyone on their best behavior last night ?
Hey you! GM. Did you get that letter from my lawyer – the one about misusing my name and possible consequences?
… So God calls up Elizabeth Warren: “Listen Liz, I’ve got something I need you to do…”
😆 Will Liz W take the job, I wonder?
ummm, most likely EW is down in hell fighting for those poor souls. Must be ‘mighty’ frustrating for the god. 🙂
Good morning, amk.
GM Ss.
Excellent Tweetage amk! Great job!
Thanks dudette. GM / GEto you.
Missed your greeting there! Howdy Friend! 🙂
I am good. How are you ?
Exhausted. ’bout to head out for the night!
I leave the family in your good hands, Sir! 🙂
Au revoir!!
Au revoir!! Have a good rest.
Don’t worry about this place. It is in a totally safe hands.
“way to work” — Man, the typing gremlins are working overtime on me tonight
Yes she sould stay with the peers of her mentality level. You know I. Q. below 70?
Just sayin’.
😀
That was EXACTLY my thought when I heard she was in “clueless”. 🙂
She was also fired from a movie in March this year — again “attitude”
Please excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor. But who the hell is this woman who has the nerve to talk about she is supporting Mitt Romney because of the content of his character, Romney has no character, He has sold his soul, and he is a bold face liar. So it is clear that woman Stacey Dash is full of alot of bull sh*t.
Elizabeth Warren: All of our daughters
Go Sister, Go Sister, Go Sister!! Yaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy!!!!!
Someone at DU was kind enough to write out the words ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/101766233)
Let’s savor them, shall we?
—————
Excellent smackdown of that lying liar based on his own record.. Wasn’t she debating that poster boy today ? Did anyone watch it ?
That’s where this quote is from — tonight’s debate. Scroll up to around comment #36 — 99ts posted a recap by Balloon Juice.
CSPAN has the full video here (almost an hour):
http://www.c-span.org/Events/Massachusetts-Senate-Candidates-Hold-Third-Debate/10737434840/
i saw the second half. i was saying earlier, and watching this clip again above, i’m comfortable saying elizabeth warren’s performance today was quite literally one of the best debate performances i’ve ever seen. i still am stunned by how good she was, and there are a bunch of clips like the one above. basically debate perfection (could go on and on about the details). and to top it off, she many times fully embraced president obama and his policies. unreal! she needs to be president in 2016.
I’m in! 🙂
me too
woohoo – perfect
WOW!…..that should go viral and be sent to EVERY woman you know…
I love what Senator soon to be Warren said in that video. Love it. Love it. Love it.
Seriously, you’ve gotta check this out:
LOL 🙂 🙂 I never tire of this. It’s actually an old video that was shown on AFHV some years ago!! 🙂 🙂
A-dor-able!!!! LOL!
So will I HF. I just told my sister to watch on CSPAN.
I have sworn off MSNBC. There were the only channel I watched. I quit them, all of them. ED and Chris, I don’t care how many positive stories they do about PBO, I can’t watch them and won’t for a long time.
Me, too.
I think I will do the same africa and theo67. MSNBC are no better than TeaNN
I watched the last debate on youtube link that chips posted. Zero bloviating pundtwits.
This sounds like backdoor concession to me!

Romney campaign: Michigan win not necessary to get to White House
http://www.detroitnews.com/article/20121010/POLITICS01/210100436/Romney-campaign-Michigan-win-not-necessary-get-White-House
Gage expressed some irritation with the focus by reporters on the lack of ad spending… [more in the article]
hahahahaha – Ann Romney will visit with 10 of her bff from Michigan and that will win the election for Mitt.
mittbot’s shameless exploitation of a dead navy seal goes international.
///
“I don’t trust Romney,” Mrs Doherty told Boston news station WHDH.
“He shouldn’t make my son’s death part of his political agenda. It’s wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,” she said.
///

Florida Election software Flips Vote: Losers Certified as Winners
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10021506625
This is FUCKING huge! We need to do what we can to get this out right away!

Will the Media ignore this? No wonder they were doing the old bait and switch, saying look what he did, when it was them.
Wow!
This and the voting machine manipulation stories are BOMBSHELLS. We will have to FORCE MSM to cover them!! We simply must!!!!!

So, Issa had this big hearing trying to fry the President and it backfired?
LOL! LMAO! Ain’t that some shit?
Watched the PBS Frontline documentary tonight, “The Choice 2012” which aired last night. I found the ending to be chilling. Someone that knows Mitt well said when he gets that look in his eye and decides what he wants, he will do anything to get it. We obviously are seeing that in the flipflops etc but just the way it was said was stunning.
On Nov 6, I want PBO and Dems up for Congressional and Senatorial seats to kick a lot of Republican ask…

Governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007

The 7/11 polls has accurately predicted every election since 2000 when it was started.
Maybe it’s time for BainMitt to concede Ohio too:
I think PBO is going to do better than the polls right now predict. I suspect the results will be more like the RV pols than the LV polls.
NBC swing state polls FLOHVA-
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/10/10/14352371-nbcwsjmarist-poll-romney-gains-in-key-swing-states?lite
It ain’t that bad, but Robney gained a little, of course Morning Joe will exaggerate the fuck out of this…
In Florida, before the debate, it was a 1-point race with Obama leading 47 percent to 46 percent.
Good math, I am impressed.
I suck at math. LOL!
Aren’t virgil goode and whathisnamelibertarian also on the ballot in OH ? If so, we are looking at a 10 point blowout there.
Nice.
Of course, msnbc will spin it that Robney is the comeback kid, etc.
You know the drill.
But I hope you are right.
Amk, I think Virgil Goode is actually competing in the great state of Virginia.
It’s a no contest, of course.

done
let’s recap this week in debates: president obama gets mittbot to say live on national tv that mittbot supports a voucher system for social security. our president wins the debate on that alone.
tonight, elizabeth warren, while praising president obama and his policies all night, gets scoot brown to say regarding the norquist tax pledge, “i’m glad grover norquist agrees with me.” another major win on that one point alone. two great debate performances by our team in one week!
now tomorrow night: lyin ryan is a good spewer of talking points, be warned (way better than sarah palin), but gets mad quickly when called on the lack of logic and evidence to support his lies. he’s used to being able to then aggressively bully people who try counter his lies, but joe biden is in a league of his own, so i’m especially interested in tomorrow’s debate. one possible problem i see is that biden has been out of the day-to-day rumble aspects of politics for a few years now, so i wonder if he’s rusty in this format, although he is one of the most wily and experienced politicians in america today. lyin’ ryan has this false sense of confidence brought on my his supporters, called the mainstream media, and could be prone to make mistakes brought on by hubris, so tomorrow is the biggest wildcard of a debate to me. should be interesting! (but not that big of a deal either way…we’re winning this because of o.f.a. and the ground game, and the media almost never talks about that, which is good for us!)
It is our favourite Jacqueline O’Boomer’s birthday! May Joe Biden hit it out of the park, especially for her! (and us too)
aloha and happy birthday j o’b !!
thanks, susanne!
Thank you, BCFF! Love ya!

This is another trick to suppress the vote, however, our team is on top of it.
The hill-
Of course, MSMBC running with the story from the Daiky Caller(Kolcjak the Nught stalker works there).

Gregory is so excited talking about the polls he actually just choked on his saliva.
Well, he better savor the moment. While he and his MSM cronies are pushing polls with questionable and hypothetical “likely voter” models, PBO/Dems are busy doing the ground work that actually result in REAL votes.
And they are really spinning them, exaggerating Robney bounce.

Good morning Chips!
Good morning Family!
Just got back from a nice brisk walk in NYC. Autumn is in the air…….
Looking forward for tonight’s debate. I have Stevie Wonders’ song in my head, “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing” in my head all morning.
So I invite everybody, to take a chill pill and relax.
God’s got this……
I just learned about in office voting yesterday. This means I will have more time to help get out the vote! I can’t wait to get my absentee ballot and vote for Barack Obama and Joe Biden!!!
