Joe & Kobe

Demnewswire‏ – thank you @rchakras

“I had this impulse to hug him, so I did. And I cried. I think I even got tears on the Vice President’s suit jacket! … I am hugging the man who will help me and help our President move forward.”
— Kobe

Standing at the back of a packed high school gym as Vice President Biden finished speaking in Ft. Myers, Florida, on Saturday was 15-year-old Kobe Groce. He cradled a “Forward” sign, hoping to get the Vice President to sign it for his brother, Kaelin. After unsuccessfully trying to make it to the front of the event, a staff member asked if he could help. Kobe told his story, and the staffer left for a moment and came back, saying simply: “The Vice President would like to meet you.”

This photo of Joe and Kobe really warms my heart. We’ve got the best huggers on our ticket for sure. Can you imagine being hugged by Mitt Romney or Paul Ryan??

The picture of Kobe and our VP is a picture of HOPE. So many of our voices are now lost to money, this pictures screams out..”MR. VP you and the President are all we have left to give a voice to our voices.” We all know what will happen if Romney becomes President. Our voices will be silenced, we will become “no ones”, the voices of the rich and powerful will make sure we are buried alive, where our screams will not be heard.
A picture is worth a thousand words.

Chuck Todd is not a politcal reporter, he is a propagandist. All this talk of “enthusiasm gap” and how black and brown people will vote is getting tiresome. The fact is that it is the GOP that has the enthusiasm gap. Evidence of this is found in the fact that Mitt is so afraid of losing his base that he cannot “move to the center” as all previous presidential candidates would have done long before now. Mitt’s very real fear of his base deserting him is real world evidence of his base’s lack of enthusiasm for their candidate. In addition, the constant stream of hate and racism the GOP has been spewing has not gone unnoticed by AA’s, Latinos and women. It will serve as a motivating factor for Dems to vote in this election (women don’t want to lose control of their bodies and Latinos don’t want to self-deport). THe vast majority of AA’s understand the obstacles these racists have put in PBO’s way, and have a stake in making PBO a two term President. Finally, if there really is a Dem enthusiasm gap, why is the GOP involved in so much voter suppression and outright voter fraud? Todd and his msm ilk are engaged in wishful thinking and spin in an effort to prop up Mitt’s candidacy. He has zero credibility and should be treated accordingly.

That man gets worse every day. I cannot take his smirky, snarky, arrogance anymore. I don’t watch his show (or Andrea Mitchell’s), and I have to turn away whenever he’s a guest on other shows. I’m not so much against someone having a point of view, even if I don’t agree with it, but he tries to talk down any good reports about the President, and talk up the negative, even when it doesn’t make sense.

That picture of VP Biden hugging that young man is POWERFUL. It demonstrates how high the stakes are in this election and how PBO/Biden connect with people. Can anyone imagine Cheney, GWB, Mitt or Ryan in a similar photo? I cannot. That picture is the perfect antidote to the spin and lies we will be subjected to all day from our corrupt MSM. Thanks for posting it Chips and for all you do to create this haven from nonsense and propaganda.

  16. October 3, 2012 at 12:55 pm

I know it’s stuuuuuuuuuuuupid to pay attention to polls, but holy smoley:

Obama leads Romney by 50 points with Latinos
    By NBC’s Domenico Montanaro

President Barack Obama has his largest lead in the NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Telemundo oversample of Hispanic voters: 50 points.

Obama leads Republican challenger Mitt Romney among Latino registered voters, 70 percent to 20 percent, and with an equal margin among likely Latino voters, 71 percent to 21 percent. That is an increase of 15 points from August, and outpaces Obama’s 2008 split (67 percent to 31 percent) over John McCain.

    • 45 japa21
      October 3, 2012 at 1:09 pm

Plus, as I mentioned yesterday, although historically the Latino community has relatively low turnout, every report and poll I have seen that addresses that issue indicates that the Latino vote will be anywhere from 20-30% higher than in the past. One of the reasons that those polls that keep minority percentage of the vote the same as 2008 are full of it.

Kevin Drumm tells them the fence has tetanus nails:

“…. if you’re an actual lefty agonizing over whether you can possibly support the lesser of two evils this year, I have nine words for you: How did that work out for you in 2000? Even if you assume that Al Gore would have passed the Patriot Act; and invaded Afghanistan; and given the NSA free rein to engage in wholesale amounts of warrantless surveillance; and approved the torture of enemy combatants — even if you assume all that, do you think we would have invaded Iraq if Al Gore had been president? That didn’t just happen, after all. It’s not as if the public was baying for Saddam Hussein’s scalp. It happened only thanks to a very determined effort by Dick Cheney and his fellow neocon sympathizers, and it happened only after a very deliberate, months-long marketing campaign from the Bush White House.

In other words: yes, there really is a difference. Libya and the drone strikes don’t even come close to comparing to Iraq. So go ahead and vote for Gary Johnson if you must, but do it with your eyes open. Whatever good it accomplishes, it also puts us one vote closer to having Dick Cheney’s old foreign policy gang back in the West Wing. I’m not quite sure how the math on that one ever gets above zero.”

    • 83 Don
      October 3, 2012 at 1:43 pm

There is a season for everything, Bush and Cheney and those other neo-con monsters had their season. But when their season ends they will end up like Lee Atwater, on his deathbed trying to apologize to whomever would listen for all the evil he did.

Right-Wing Media Hopelessly Confused About Their Race-Based Attacks On Obama

By ERIC BOEHLERT – Media Matters

Here’s how MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow decoded the right-wing attack last night: “People didn’t actually know [Obama] was this black, and if they had known he was this black they never would’ve elected him.”

So which is it? Will voters excuse Obama’s faults and give him a second term based on his race? Or will voters penalize Obama on Election Day based on his race?

The utter confusion and contradictory allegations shouldn’t be surprising given that Obama’s harshest opponents have been grappling for years, unsuccessfully, with the issue of race and how best to try to deploy it for political gain. They’ve alternately declared Obama a “racist” and have wallowed in the worst kind of ugly race baiting, while pre-emptively condemning any critics who dare call them out.

The us-versus-them cauldron of bigotry was purposefully reignited last night with the non-news of an Obama speech given in 2007 to an audience of African-American clergy. It was a speech that was open to the press at the time and was widely reported on, including on Fox News.

Because of that beautiful photo of VPOTUS Joe, I’ll share this, without the link cos it’s Politico:

“He’s No. 2 on the ticket but No. 1 in their hearts.

Women born before the baby boom generation seem to have a collective crush on a handsome vice presidential candidate with piercing blue eyes and a wide smile who likes to talk about government benefits for seniors. No, not Paul Ryan.

Joe Biden’s bringing sexy back — to the Medicare-eligible set — and that could be valuable for a president who trails Republican rival Mitt Romney with women of a certain age despite having a wide advantage with their 18- to 65-year-old counterparts.”

[Question: if a sitting VP is running w/ President for re-election, is he referred to as “candidate” or simply VP?]

I bet they would love PBO too if he had “piercing blue eyes” and white skin. I pray our younger generations will be better able to relegate the issue of race to the dust bin of history. It is a cancer on this society that prevents the country from reaching its true potential.

I belong to that particular demographic…..over 65, white, middle class (still) by the grace of Social Security and Medicare!…and I think President Obama is too good looking to be allowed out! But, the person who thought Paul Ryan was the “sexy” man to send out to talk about SocSec and Medicare and Seniors, had to be a man! Paul Ryan is arrogant, and callow, among his better qualities.
Joe Biden on the other hand, has lived, and loved and been hurt and had losses. He married a smart woman…….I believe you can tell the most about a man by the woman he marries…..adores her and his family, and genuinely cares for people. Who thought Lyin Ryan could compete with that!!!
Both the VP and Prez have big hearts, and we see this every day. I’m just so glad I lived long enough to have the grace of Obama and Biden in our country’s life!
