I want to tell those who brought this speech to my attention, thank you, had never seen or read it and it is a great speech. All who vote this election cycle should read it, reinforces why PBO should be reelected.
Exactly what I was thinking. Someone commented on the site which contains the entire speech that, paraphrasing, the only thing Dems would be upset about is that this speech is better than his 2012 convention one. Truly a gifted writer.
I’ve never seen this speech before either, and I’ve just finished watching it. I really don’t know what paranoia and delusional state these right wingers are living in, but I loved this speech. It shows once again that the President’s positions aren’t positions his team thought up overnight – he’s been convinced of these positions for years. He’s spoken publicly about them, made promises towards them, fulfilled those promises, and is still fighting for some of them to come to fruition. He’s entirely consistent. What a man!
Okay, …is this what Drudge was saying they were going to put out earlier. Someone give me a brief summary if what it is. I am afraid to watch it and have not been on twitter yet.
I watched some of it on Dem Underground and there’s no there there. It’s PBO giving an amazing speech. What you notice is his constancy of values, message, words, and actions. Really. It’s just PBO being his awesome self.
Relax. The video that Chips posted above is the President’s famous speech on Race from 08.
The bombshell that Drudge hyped (Chips posted it in a comment on the previous thread) was an actually good speech the then-Senator gave to Hampton University in 2007. No bombshell, nothing incendiary, nothing racist… nothing. RWNJ are just that… desperate nutjobs!
the Big Deal is that he had nice things to say about his pastor. And then, in order to get traction, Drudge lies (quelle surprise), saying PBO is talking about ‘poor people’ when he’s actually talking about returning Iraq war vets.
FORWARD & we’re leaving the DEAD party to Rove, Koch, Cheney, Drudge, Cantor & all the other creeps who are a dying breed…..blah, blah, blah…..they’re totally scum & dragging FOX down with them….hahahahaha…..FORWARD to the next 3 debates & wrap up this election. PBO deserves a reward for having to put up with this crap….4 more years already.
UT, I don’t twit but I greatly appreciate all your tweets that you post here. I think you are one of the most keen observers of politics and your comments are always filled with deep insights. It’s no wonder that other smart people, like Joy Reid, are following you on twitter.
Amk, you would definitely appreciate the exquisite engineering of the Hoover Dam. I know zero about engineering but the Hoover Dam blew me away when I first saw it in 1989.
However, thinking as I type (should think first I suppose) I guess what I see in the task bar at the top of the page is what Safari is about, and all I need to do is (tap) diminish the current page, (tap) open a new page, then (tap) open bookmarks and scroll, then (tap), I get there pretty fast. (well, except when the blog gets to around 250+ comments, then all hell breaks loose while loading, and everything jumps up and down, like a wild por-tay at amk’s when he’s had too many cheesy puffs with his Bombay Sapphire!) By (tap), I mean a lli do is use a light touch of my finger to talk to the iPad.
Right, I have a Windows machine, and Apple is no longer making Safari for Windows. That’s fine; I found Google Bookmarks support for Firefox, so all is good.
LOL… Wifey, though a good Democrat, is far from as obsessed with this as we are. I give her tidbits from around the Intertubes of the more ridiculous GOP statements and she just shakes her head.
Maybe. But my most colorful language erupts when I am stuck on some pos hp or worse, and even my dear wee macbook seems archaic next to the iPad! You can run, amk, but you cannot hide! š
It deadens the heart, and the Heart is where PBO and those who resonate with him abide! Like all of us! We are the love wave that is taking place on this planet right NOW! yes.
okay, I saw the video they’re talking about earlier… good grief, that was wonderful, the way he talked about Katrina- and how it also brought out the best in people.. how those students could choose to basically change the world.. And so drudge is calling this divisive? lol… these people are so crazy I am at a loss for words to describe their amount of crazy.
Sherijr, that’s because you don’t have an evil mind that looks for divisiveness at every turn and tries to sow it. Drudge and his FOX buddies are beneath contempt.
A speech from 2007 that he gave at a Black church. He gave an uplifting and inspiring speech. Politico reported on that same speech back in 2008. The speech was given to open press. This speech had been on Youtube since 2007. There is nothing hidden or secretive about it. In fact, many people who are now seeing for the first time LOVE it!
I thought it was the speech at Hampton University. It doesn’t matter, POTUS/Senator Obama has been consistent and superb in every speech he’s ever given.. even back in college.
The kooks have tried every single thing for 5 years to prevent us from voting for Barack Obama, to divide this country by race, by fear, by hate. By taking our votes from us. They are dredging the bottom of the river AGAIN.. and they will still lose. what utter pigs.
I gather Charles Blow is less than impressed with whatever it is in that vid….. Ugly is a ugly does, I often say. There are some masquerading as humans, but we are still unable to prove to them that beneath the skin, there is NO DIFFERENCE: muscle, sinew, bone, blood, all the same. May they all die out quickly, the Earth will be a better place when they are gone.
It’s a lovely speech, quite moving with, as is typical with #PBO, a true story that serves as a source of analogy that he weaves into the entire speech. I had never seen it, but I’ll not forget it and will certainly share it.
thanks Bob, I had not seen this speech- it was beautiful… I too love the way he wove his story of the baby & the bullet throughtout to impact his point. He’s just so remarkable – consistently so. Can’t see what the hoopla is & don’t even care… but real glad it brought this speech to all of us š
Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did, sheri. It’s a keeper, for sure. And, the portion of it about Iraq and Katrina are so moving and in hearing him in that speech I had an even deeper appreciation of how quickly he responded to the BP catastrophe and how much he wanted to be able to say, finally, WELCOME HOME to all the troops after ending the Iraq war.
Excellent point about how much he wanted to welcome the troops back home. He really cares. This speech, above everything I’ve seen from him about Iraq, really showed me how much he abhorred that illegal war, and how determined he was to bring it to an end as quickly, and as safely as possible. He was so passionate in this part of the speech – even the audience was fired up. I’m glad he was able to welcome those troops home himself, with Michelle. They care.
Oh Pam, I think I’m going to sit bak & just be a cheerleader tonight………bring it on….go Pam….are we lighting candles for the debate tomorrow? Who does that, Chips?
No, it is not usually me, but, pugeretto, dear, I would ⤠it if you would call me PAMELA not Pam. Some people like the short version, but I work well with the long! š
I watched them and I almost threw up. They are both racists. There’s no other word for it. They kept talking about Rev Wright and yelling that Pres. Obama basically hates white people, that Pres. Obama was telling black people that white people are the root of all evil and that one way to tell Pres. Obama hates white people is that he like other black people speak in a black dialect and accent that other black people understand is code for white hate. That black people don’t speak like other Americans. They have a certain black tone and intonation in the way they speak. They just went on and on and on. The naked hate they have for Pres. Obama and African-Americans was chilling.
And, really, this is the best they’ve got? This is the shiny object to distract from tomorrow? A speech that’s been around since 2007āAND REPORTED ON AT THE TIME?! Their internal polling must be scaring the shit out of them so much that they’re clutching at any life raft.
I can’t say I’m even remotely surprised by their racism… it is what has been driving them for years now, it is all they’ve got inside of them.. and they fail everytime because of it. They are very demented.
This will not get them white votes other than the white votes they were already going to get. Most decent people will be turned off by it. Voting Republican now is like condoning the racism. This shit is more appealing to men than women. My female neighbors in this rather red neighborhood are sickened by the racism and are going to vote for Obama. It’s not guilt. They are pissed about what the Republicans want to do to medicare and social security. The women are the ones who care for their elderly relatives and take on the job of helping them apply for benefits and find good nursing care. There comes a point where you just have to stand up for what’s decent and do the right thing. In this case preserving retirement benefits and voting against hate make it an easy choice.
UT, you are truly a brave and disciplined person, with wisdom beyond your age. The fact that you can watch Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity and still maintain your composure to write about what they said is amazing! I probably would not have lasted more than a minute watching them without destroying my T.V.
Obviously, what they are trying to do is to persuade whites who support the President that he is a Black nationalist racist who hates white people and should be feared by all white people. I suppose labeling him a Kenyan, a Muslim, a Socialist, a Communist, and a Nazi was not enough, and got them nowhere. They now think that calling him a black racist will work this time around. Their problem, of course, is that President Obama has now been President for almost four years. I doubt that they will convince many sane whites to start seeing him as this racist Black man who is out to destroy white people. Surely, sane whites know that Obama Care was not just for Blacks; and neither were thousands of jobs created by the Auto industry, on top of over a million saved. Sane whites know that American troops brought home from Iraq were not all Black people, but included whites, Latinos, Asians, and men and women of all races . Sane whites know that student Loan reforms and Wall Street Financial reforms benefit people of all races as well as men and women. The bottom line is: This garbage being spread by Drudge, Carlson, Hannity and some unethical media people, appeals primarily to the right wing “Echo Chamber.” I doubt that the vast majority of white people in the Obama campaign, the Obama administration, and Obama supporters, will buy into this utter race obsessed rubbish, which is clearly a sign of desperation by the right wingers/Romney campaign.
oh these debates are going to be delicious. i dare say these will be the easiest president obama has ever had. say that because in 2008, he wasn’t president yet and mccain had the whole elder statesman and ex-pow thing thing, while barack was kind of young and untested in that role. the puma-hillary thing was in full force at the time, and the media was even more in the tank for mccain than for mittbot.
before that, he was going up against the dems who were all quite strong debaters, including our own joe biden. and the minefield he had to walk during the hillary debates…and he still kicked butt in every one! i mean mittbot is a walk in the park compared to all those.
and tomorrow is the only one moderated by an actual journalist, although lehrer can be a bit of a “both sides do it” kind guy at times for my taste (sorry, carolyn, i know you’re related to him), but overall he’s one of the best out there. barack is a student of muhammed ali…oh it’s going to be brutal, in a good way. isee they flipped a coin and our president will be answering first, which means mittbot gets to talk last. expect barack in his closing statement, knowing this, to throw mittbot for a loop and say something unepxected that will fluster the mittbot and have him stumble right up to the end. any “drama” being created about the debate is media-created. don’t be fooled, president obama will be better than we’ve ever seen him. it’s going to be awesome!
Oh 4morefor44, your words are so reassuring; I hope you are right on and it goes just as you predict. Thanks for the uplifting message this evening. Got to get my wine for tomorrow night; crawl onto the bed with my laptop; comfortable clothes, maybe something spicy to eat … and live blog the event. Hope you will be there/here too!
i’m going to try and be here. family stuff sometimes gets in the way though! yes, i’m quite certain you’ll have a fun time watching the debate tomorrow. first of all, president obama is incredibly good, and second, well, just watch this and you’ll rest easy:
So I just watched the entire speech. It strikes me how his words are consistent with everything he said before and with all his words and actions since. It’s a truly moving and inspiring speech. One for the history books. I do sometimes feel sorry for those who are so misled and blinded that they are missing out on the greatest leader of our lifetimes. History is being written as we live and they are too stupid to see it.
I’m thankful to be witnessing this great change and I’m thankful Barack Obama is guiding us through it.
Some exciting news: A dense fog sat over the DC metro area this evening. Mother Nature is steamed about KKKlanity and friends harping over that silly 2007 tape!
Not to veer from things political, but I see that Manchester United barely managed to beat weak opposition in the Champions League, whereas Chelsea put the whup ass upon its equally weak foe. The Europa League awaits Sir Alex & Co.
Chips, thanks you for putting PBO’s speech up top, as I can remember back then being so nervous for him before he gave that speech. Afterwords, not-to-worry cuz he’s just meant for this leadership position. All the stuff…..they have nothing and are playing to the worst-of-the-worst. Off to twitter for a bit again….and tomorrow I will be out all day, so I hope there will be lots of informative tweets. Tomorrow, Oct 3, 2012 will be another great day.
Help me out here. We got a nasty e-mail about Patrick Caddell’s piece on Fox News.com about the media. It was crap, but I need someone who has some talking points to help me refute their crap. Anyone have some close?
Do you have some on this. They are sending this out far and wide if they sent it to me and my husband. It has stuff about David Plouffe. He talks about the Audacity of Coruption.
I would ignore it, no need to debate falsehoods. The people who believe that idiocy are haters. It’s a fact less op-ed, there’s nothing to dispute. It’s on fox, anyone with half a brain knows it’s nothing but lies. It doesn’t matter what you say they choose to believe the lies. Ignore them. You have nothing to prove to haters.
When someone sends a nasty email, I think the best thing to do is just reply from the heart, don’t worry about facts and statistics. It takes too long to put together an answer, and those people won’t be persuaded anyway. I would “reply all” because they probably sent it out to a group. Stick up for the President. Something like “I disagree totally with what you say. I am a solid supporter of President Obama and feel he is doing a great job in a tough situation. ” And send.
What exactly was the email about? And who sent it to you? I don’t know what Patrick Caddell wrote on Fox NEws because I don’t really know Caddell nor do I read Fox News. Could you expound a bit more?
Thanks, but I’ll pass on watching it. I just wanted a brief idea where you got it from and what it entailed. I agree with claire – things like that you should simply ignore them. Nasty emails like these are circulated several times a day and are increasing as the election draws near and the Republicans realize they’re losing the WH AND the senate, and probably going to have a smaller majority in the house. At this point they are throwing everything and hoping something sticks.
PBO’s got a team of folks to wade through this muck and see if they need to respond. Rather than ignoring it, I’d recommend sending it to them if it’s possible: https://my.barackobama.com/page/s/report-an-attack
Ok, I did it. Usually I let it go better than I did tonight. Usually I can find the real truth, but couldn’t find it tonight. Thank you and everyone else for “talking me down.” P.S, we opened our OFA office tonight in Parker,CO. I will be out canvasing every day!! We will get it done!!!
He doesn’t want people knowing what he does in his bedroom, why does he think he should be able to tell others what they can and can not do in their personal lives?
I think I’ve watched this at least 10 times. Her “..and I said YES” is SOOOO adorable. She’s so down to earth. Like one of the girls, just shootin’ the breeze about her man. Can’t we just make her First Lady Emeritus or something after 2016? Only an hr now until their anniversary.
Our beautiful First Lady!!!!! I love her and I am so grateful to be alive during this presidency of her brilliant husband. HZ
Oh, Please TOD Family. Do Not allow these ugly and vile people get to you. Do your homework on Hampton University. All I am saying now. Be peaceful and gentle with your spirits. Hampton University has a history that most people are not aware of. It is one of our best, especially when you see where they came from, where they have been, and will continue to go. Now put it all together, and move on with pride. HZ
I dunno, but he’s got a whole series of vids on Youtube. Hysterical!!
I love that Kerry Washington tweeted this. A comment on Youtube said her co-star who plays Quinn/Lindsay sent it to her.
Did you watch the whole thing? He pretty much breaks down the season premiere episode. A recap with LOTS of flair!!
And I must admit — the hair truly is “layed” Un-kay?!! š
Yup. Especially, if all 3 branches of govt fall in dem hands, the juggernaut would have turned in another direction and the entire criminal enterprise of media+mic+wallstreet would collapse.
Just to throw a little water on things: I would remind everyone that when scared beasts are backed into a corner, they become even more dangerous. There’s still a month left of muckslinging and threats (both real and imagined) to get through just yet. We must stay focused and like PBO says, kick off the bedroom slippers, put on our marching shoes, and in the case of Faux News, Drudge, et al., our hazmat suits!
Yup focus and determination for the next 36 days. One thing I always keep in mind is that these GOP voters are like farts: silent and deadly. š Seriously, I remember the HUGE rally that Senator Obama had in St. Louis just days before the election. McCain and Palin couldn’t have matched that turnout in their dreams. And yet, Missouri went for McCain. So crowd size is very encouraging but it isn’t necessarily reflective of what the polls will show.
Yes indeed, Dudette! In politics, a month is a life time. We must stay focused! We must continue to work as hard as we can to register more people and to get out the vote. GOT is especially crucial right now in the states with early voting. We must continue to contribute when we can. We must be disciplined to spend little energy on haters intent on distracting us from our goal. Above all, we must not rest until Nov.7, 2012! This means, as Bobfr and others have been emphasizing, that we must avoid being manipulated by the media pundits and by media obsession with day-to-day polls. The real poll numbers that ultimately matter are those that will be announced on 11/06/2012. Our #1 task is it ensure that on Nov.6. 2012 we will win the majority of the votes to re-elect our President as well as Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress.
Thanks Tally for asking the question: “If Mitt Romney gained no tax advantage by off-shoring his cash and investments” then why did he “do it?” Which leads me to this other question that has been eating me up: Romney, per his slogan, says he “Believes in America.” If that is the case, why did he invest in the Cayman Islands and Bermuda and stash his money in Swiss banks, instead of the U.S. that he believes in? Sadly, I doubt that any of the debates’ moderators would dare to ask Mitt Romney that question. Maybe if we are lucky a regular citizen, in the Town Hall debate segment, will ask him that question. Ordinary Americans, like me, need to know why Romney preferred to invest his money off-shore instead of investing it in the good old U.S.A? I especially want to know how Romney’s investments abroad that gave him tax breaks helped create jobs in the U.S.
“Projection” is the standard MO for the GOP! That’s what Karl Rove taught them so well. Witness the serial compulsive liar, Mitt Romney, announcing, before the debates, that President Obama will tell lies about him. Talk about “Pre-emptive Projection!” Sadly, the corporate media, with few minor exceptions, has allowed the GOP to get away with “Projection.”
evening all. I am so excited about the debates tomorrow. A good, happy excited. I am bouyed by the wretched writhing, whining and screaming from the RWNJs led by the band masters of hate, fear and division.
Tomorrow night we can all watch them melt like the wicked witch of the west. What fun. I find myself verily amused by them these days. A slow long painful death. Maybe a real party will emerge. Well I’m not holding my breath.
All I can think is yes, “take the bullet out!” PS ChipChica, that belongs in your Speeches file, no?
wow. ‘in the future there will be a day when men will say, who would ever support something so un-american as abortion.’ hmmm–but there will NOT be a day when WOMEN say it, asshole. because it is women who struggle through pregnancy and birth and nursing and infant care and toddler care and on and on and on–women know that abortion is not un-american; it is a part of that FREEDOM you guys love to talk about. FREEDOM, asshole.
okay, got that off my chest. is this guy losing the election yet? please??
OK, Theo, that’s it for me! These right wingers are complete idiots! I repeat: GOP right wingers are total idiots! Or maybe they are totally deranged! How in the world can you perform an abortion on a woman who is not pregnant? And if, in Akin’s warped reasoning,it’s possible to perform abortion for non pregnant women, then how does he and his fellow right wingers turn around and also argue that all abortions are about killing innocent lives?
I see Jake Tapper of ABC has jumped in with Hannity and Carlson re. “scary” 2007 vid. If there was ever a doubt………
People are revealing themselves. I would think they would be embarrassed or ashamed.
They should be embarrassed AND ashamed. This is a race for the position of President of the United States, with the power to engage the US military, affect opportunities for the next generation, influence events around the world. The GOP and their media cohorts are not taking it seriously. And the world is watching.
Putin said it best, when he said there’s no guarantee that the right wingers won’t occupy the Oval Office at some point or another – and it scares the living daylights out of everyone. The world won’t follow a bunch of loons, and somebody will step into the vacuum. The GOP need to be kept out of office for several generations – or forever. However long it takes.
You are so right Theo. To the GOP this is a game…Romney and his zingers….what game is he playing?
Reminds me of Pee Wee Herman saying “I know you are but what am I”
Bread was one of the best bands. Every song is amazing! I bought their “best of” CD a few years ago for my Dad – and I kept it for myself after listening to it…
Beautiful. I had forgotten about this song. Thanks. Perfect end to the night. Sending out some positive thoughts for the President for tomorrow and then to sleep.
I love Celine – she’s Canadian and extremely talented. And the movie “Up Close and Personal” with Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert Redford plays this song in the soundtrack – it’s one of my favorite movies.
ok – one more for the late night and West Coast crew. This song was released in October 1982 – 20 years ago, on Lionel Richie’s album. There are a few others that are so beautiful and applicable, but this one seems most apt for the Obama’s 20th wedding anniversary. “Truly”
I just read the Frum nonsense about the economy – the only reason middle class incomes are down and the recovery slow is the GOP congress. The minute they had a GOP President they would vote FOR everything they have so far voted against. Every one of them should be defeated – what lies they tell and how they hate their country to do what they have done.
This is true. I heard a snippet of Paul Ryan saying that the GOP answer wouldn’t be to present something to the President and say “my way or the highway”. They’d work with him by offering their policies and then negotiating a solution that everyone can live with.
Happy Anniversary to one of my favorite married couples (after my folks of course)–POTUS & FLOTUS!! When my brother and sister and I were much younger, and just for giggles, we used to sing the following to our parents on their wedding anniversary. š š
And on a sweeter note, a nice serenade for Potus and Flotus on their 20th wedding anniversary. Bill Withers and Grover Washington, Jr. (RIP) with one of my faves…. old skool and you know it! š
TY amk – I came home today to this racist sh– from the right – they will do anything (literally anything, which is scarey wondering what else) to get Willard elected – people like the adulterer Gingrich (why did Maddow have to play that) are absolutely amoral – while the wingnuts on the internets have to keep their supporters with hope.
It will backfire all the way through the congress.
AMK, those poll numbers are amazing! No wonder the corporate media are joining the GOP right wingers to try to scare white people about this angry racist black man who is out to destroy white people if he is re-elected President. The Redistribution meme didn’t work. Now it’s the angry black racist meme that must be pushed. I doubt that sane white people will fall for this latest rubbish.
debate party snacks? no, it’s the dullard myth robmey strategy:
‘ At a time when even his fondest supporters are pleading for more substance, Mitt Romney is giving them the political equivalent of junk food. His has been the Zinger candidacy ā all sugary platitudes, no protein.
Sample his speech Monday night upon arriving in Colorado for debate prep:
Obama ādoesnāt just like picking winners and losers,ā Romney said. āHe likes picking losers.ā
Zing!
āWeāve had 43 straight months with unemployment above 8 percent, and what does the president have to say to all this? He says āforward.ā I think āforewarnedā is a better term.ā
Zing!
āHeās out of ideas, heās out of excuses, and on November 6th youāre going to put him out of office.ā
Zing!
āHeās making us more and more like Europe. I donāt want to be like Europe. Europe doesnāt work in Europe.ā
Bob Woodward on MJ said that the media is failing the public and that they are majoring in polls and not informing the public of the candidates. Cut away to commercials and gleeful joe response was not given.
Todd is out touting his shaved off for “enthusiasm gap” tightening polls everywhere. He just referred to Gov. Romney and MISTER Obama. Purposely not saying President Obama. Unbelievable earlier when there was a big discussion on MJ when they said Romney should give up on Ohio and then would have to run the table on about 10 other states, every one where Obama leads.
Now Gregory is allowing Santorum to opine without challenge on the Today Show.
Balanced by Cutter whose every sentence is being challenged by dumb interruptions by Savannah Gurhrie.
NBC must have threatened these people with loss of job unless they push the Repub agenda. Looks like it anyway.

For real!
Thanks LadyT! You’re kinda hot, yourself! š
Thanks!
Bwahahahahaha!!! Look who tweeted this!!! LOL!!!! š
I have no doubt that Mr. Frum will be pulling the lever for Barack Obama on the first Tuesday in November.
I wouldn’t be surprised LL. Not one bit.
He’s from Canada. Don’t know if he’s a US citizen yet.
Wikipedia says he has dual citizenship.
…took the naturalization oath on 9/11/07. I forgot that he wrote speeches for Shrub. (ick!)
More classic Eddie…
Dare Drurge to post this. LOL.
I would but then I’d spend all my time blocking the trolls that would latch on to me and try tweeting some teabagger shit at me. Squash that!
Yup. No doubt in my mind. Lots of those Republicans are going to be pulling the lever for Obama.
I resemble that remark!
Axel darling! Where’ve you been, what’ve you been doing and, most importantly, with WHOM have you been doing it?
Tell me EVERYTHING!! š
The stupidity of Fox News knows no bounds.
Dumb asses!
Chips, don’t ever…EVER…eeeeva eva eva eva eva be surprised by how low a rethug can sink. *chris tucker voice*
You’re right OB, I think I must have an in-built sanity-preserving mechanism that makes me forget just how ugly they can get.
This is the way to deal with it:
These goons have just inspired me to give 50$ to the campaing, in response to their stupidity…
It’s a very fine speech and I’m so grateful to Drudge for bringing it to our attention …

EDP4BHO where can I find the entire speech?
I’ve never seen this speech before either, and I’ve just finished watching it. I really don’t know what paranoia and delusional state these right wingers are living in, but I loved this speech. It shows once again that the President’s positions aren’t positions his team thought up overnight – he’s been convinced of these positions for years. He’s spoken publicly about them, made promises towards them, fulfilled those promises, and is still fighting for some of them to come to fruition. He’s entirely consistent. What a man!
Agree, Anna. It was a beautiful speech and very well constructed and delivered. This is a brilliant man.
Great hashtag!!
RT’d meta!!!
Okay, …is this what Drudge was saying they were going to put out earlier. Someone give me a brief summary if what it is. I am afraid to watch it and have not been on twitter yet.
me either.. whats their beef exactly??
Here’s the transcript.
http://www.presidency.ucsb.edu/ws/index.php?pid=77002
I loved, loved the A More Perfect Union speech and as for the 2007, as I said it was just PBO being his usual awesome self.
Oh okay! Phew! Thanks dudette for the info! ⤠to all of the TOD family!
landl, what is <3?
Tilt your head.. it’s a heart!
š
You so smart!
Oh sorry, it is meant to be a heart! On Facebook when that is typed it turns into a heart!
I watched that video earlier Dudette, I agree it was a wonderful & inspiring speech- the one at Hampton U. they are completely nuts.
the Big Deal is that he had nice things to say about his pastor.
If you’re on twitter, go read Joy Reid’s (@TheReidReport) timeline. She breaks down what a fantastic speech then Sen. Obama gave in 2007.
p.s. I just found out that Joy Reid is following me on Twitter. OMG! OMG! OMG! Super stoked.
Wow, that’s great. Adore Joy! One day I hope she will have her own show.
I don’t blame her one bit. You rock.
Wow, UT, that is awesome! You do rock the twitter world! Congrats!
Awesome! I just love her. They really should dump the frickin’ “Cycle” bullshit on MSNBC and give Joy her own thing.
UT, I don’t twit but I greatly appreciate all your tweets that you post here. I think you are one of the most keen observers of politics and your comments are always filled with deep insights. It’s no wonder that other smart people, like Joy Reid, are following you on twitter.
Smart always recognizes itself. You both represent well.

President Barack Obama views the Hoover Dam during a stop there, Oct. 2, 2012. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza)
Wow, that’s gorgeous! And the dam’s nice too! š
teehee
Hee! Hee! ;
Hahaaaaaaa
Wow, this photo is wonderful. I love PBO’s curiosity.
I like his curiosity too, but that definitely ain’t what I was looking at! And he has on the Swagger-Shades. My heart is all a-fluttah!
[Sigh!] … naughty mat unfurling in 5, 4, 3, 2… š
My naughty mat’s been unfurled since this afternoon when I saw the first of these pictures… š
LOL. Too much š
š
Dam! He looks good in that damn!
wimmin/smh.
Oh stop yer yammerin’ amk. You, japa, and yardarm can oogle FLOTUS tomorrow when more video from her Steve Harvey appearance comes out.
In fact, you can go back two posts now and start sweating the video clips there. Nah, go ohn from roun’ hyah! Shoo fly!
I wanna look at that damn dam too.
Amk, you would definitely appreciate the exquisite engineering of the Hoover Dam. I know zero about engineering but the Hoover Dam blew me away when I first saw it in 1989.
Excuse me, I resemble that remark.
Holla gurl! š
Another reminder of how consistent President Obama has been.
This will make amk happy:
Safari.
does safari have google bookmarks support? Firefox doesn’t, and it’s annoying me.
I don’t really know, LL, I just use the bookmarks on the iPad, and that is too easy for words.
Yay. Tho I admit I cannot quite grasp why you would choose anything besides Apple.
Oh dear, you’re an Apple fangirl. š Actually, I bought the spouse an iPad.
I’m just a PC and Android kinda boy. My first computer had 2 floppy drivesāwhen the disk were, in fact, floppy.
‘Spouse’ will soon be landing Firsts on all Chipsy’s threads with that iPad, and she will thank you! š
LOL… Wifey, though a good Democrat, is far from as obsessed with this as we are. I give her tidbits from around the Intertubes of the more ridiculous GOP statements and she just shakes her head.
Overpriced and overhyped product.
/ducks and runs
Maybe. But my most colorful language erupts when I am stuck on some pos hp or worse, and even my dear wee macbook seems archaic next to the iPad! You can run, amk, but you cannot hide! š
I was sure it was there. I was just going to look for instructions.
I’m most comfortable with Firefox, too. I use Chrome at work and just don’t see what’s so different/special about it.
Good on you. I could have told you that. It’s the best browser I’ve found to date.
okay this is the awesome & beautiful race speech then Senator Obama gave.. what exactly is Drudge & his media pals harping about now?
He calls out Rev Wright and speaks with a black dialect. Says hes angry with an accent.
oh lord.. all they do is confuse me with their wacky bs. good grief they are seriously desperate & ill.
It’s all that H8torade. It damages brain cells, dulls the senses.
It deadens the heart, and the Heart is where PBO and those who resonate with him abide! Like all of us! We are the love wave that is taking place on this planet right NOW! yes.
Okay now you’ve gone and done it. Time for a musical interlude!
Standing! Dudette, you are so good to us! sweet dreams y’all, see youse on rise n shine! {{{{{{TOD}}}}}}. {{{{{chips}}}}}
Lovely musical interlude!
okay, I saw the video they’re talking about earlier… good grief, that was wonderful, the way he talked about Katrina- and how it also brought out the best in people.. how those students could choose to basically change the world..
You’re right sherijr about the speech being given at a University . I stand corrected. š
It’s a great speech, HF. They’ve done the president a favor.
Here’s a link from the previous thread:
thanks Bob, I had not seen this speech- it was beautiful… I too love the way he wove his story of the baby & the bullet throughtout to impact his point.
They care.
Yes, theo!!!! I so hope Chips will create a special video of that segment and launch it.
These racist fools have no idea how important a service they provided by bringing all of us to view this exceptional speech by our Barack Obama.
That segment needs to be seen by everyone!!!
#FORWARD
You mean ‘poor people’? Drudge has decided that PBO wasn’t talking about Iraqi war vets — he was really talking about ‘poor people’.
God.
Jesus used parables too! PREACH BROTHER OBAMA, PREACH.
He sure did, sailor, and, as with PBO, he was all about uniting and caring for every person.
I’m just sayin’. This ought to help those “guilty white people” that Chuckie Todd was talking about, eh?
Oh Pam, I think I’m going to sit bak & just be a cheerleader tonight………bring it on….go Pam….are we lighting candles for the debate tomorrow? Who does that, Chips?
http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
You’re the one, thanks Pam.
No, it is not usually me, but, pugeretto, dear, I would ⤠it if you would call me PAMELA not Pam. Some people like the short version, but I work well with the long! š
Pamela is a beautiful name, love it. Thanks for speaking up.
{{{{{{{{{pugeretto}}}}}}}}. I always do! š
Now, what’s all this about Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity making asses of themselves?
I watched them and I almost threw up. They are both racists. There’s no other word for it. They kept talking about Rev Wright and yelling that Pres. Obama basically hates white people, that Pres. Obama was telling black people that white people are the root of all evil and that one way to tell Pres. Obama hates white people is that he like other black people speak in a black dialect and accent that other black people understand is code for white hate. That black people don’t speak like other Americans. They have a certain black tone and intonation in the way they speak. They just went on and on and on. The naked hate they have for Pres. Obama and African-Americans was chilling.
Wow. I feel the need for a shower just from reading your recap.
I see them the same way I view the kkk. They are racists pure and simple.
Tee-hee!!
Love this!!
I notice Mitt hasn’t really been praising Clinton lately. Hmmm.
Way to go Bill!
oh these debates are going to be delicious. i dare say these will be the easiest president obama has ever had. say that because in 2008, he wasn’t president yet and mccain had the whole elder statesman and ex-pow thing thing, while barack was kind of young and untested in that role. the puma-hillary thing was in full force at the time, and the media was even more in the tank for mccain than for mittbot.
before that, he was going up against the dems who were all quite strong debaters, including our own joe biden. and the minefield he had to walk during the hillary debates…and he still kicked butt in every one! i mean mittbot is a walk in the park compared to all those.
and tomorrow is the only one moderated by an actual journalist, although lehrer can be a bit of a “both sides do it” kind guy at times for my taste (sorry, carolyn, i know you’re related to him), but overall he’s one of the best out there. barack is a student of muhammed ali…oh it’s going to be brutal, in a good way. isee they flipped a coin and our president will be answering first, which means mittbot gets to talk last. expect barack in his closing statement, knowing this, to throw mittbot for a loop and say something unepxected that will fluster the mittbot and have him stumble right up to the end. any “drama” being created about the debate is media-created. don’t be fooled, president obama will be better than we’ve ever seen him. it’s going to be awesome!
Hope you will be there/here too!
i’m going to try and be here. family stuff sometimes gets in the way though! yes, i’m quite certain you’ll have a fun time watching the debate tomorrow. first of all, president obama is incredibly good, and second, well, just watch this and you’ll rest easy:
the mittbot is a media creation.
Exactly, WoS!
#FORWARD
Yep. PBO is consistent overtime which would definitely piss off flip flopper MITTNOCCHIO
A slow night in social media – just silly chatter about some 2007 speech. Yawn. Oh well.
Some exciting news: A dense fog sat over the DC metro area this evening. Mother Nature is steamed about KKKlanity and friends harping over that silly 2007 tape!
Saving up excitement for tomorrow night! š
I don’t use talking points. Just use the facts.
You are correct. It’s just this time if was from a person we had a lot of respect for. I am on edge these days.
” And send.
Say whaaaa. Best to ignore on several fronts.
What exactly was the email about? And who sent it to you? I don’t know what Patrick Caddell wrote on Fox NEws because I don’t really know Caddell nor do I read Fox News. Could you expound a bit more?
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012/09/29/mainstream-media-threatening-our-country-future/
be careful, it will make you sick
Cindy. Let’s the Truth Team take care of it. Go here and fill in the form:
https://my.barackobama.com/page/s/report-an-attack
Then take a deep breath and let it go. š
Excellent! That’s the best way to shake off the ugly. Don’t get mad, get PBO re-elected!!
A much better outlet for your positive energy. š

Good point! Why invite the evil into your home?
Btw, Pamela… I posted some music for ya upthread (back where we were talking about the H8torade. Enjoy!

Only an hr now until their anniversary.
dudette9t9, I’ve watch this about ten times or more.
That is too cool. She still is thrilled about that moment. Reminds me of when my Mother would tell the story about her first meeting my Dad.
Just so cute!!! Even though I am not that much older than the Obama’s I feel a bit parental, or maybe like a favorite aunt. Cute cute cute!
HZ
Hi, HZ! How are you doing? Good to see ya!
Awwww, that is so endearing! Love them!
Where can we find the whole clip of her appearance? Looks like it was a fun interview!!
After it airs tomorrow certainly.
I was very pleased to see Mr. Gibb on the Ed Show. I reallylike him. He is sooooo smart and cool headed.
Gibbs.

dudette, Who the hell is that guy?
I dunno, but he’s got a whole series of vids on Youtube. Hysterical!!
I love that Kerry Washington tweeted this. A comment on Youtube said her co-star who plays Quinn/Lindsay sent it to her.
Did you watch the whole thing? He pretty much breaks down the season premiere episode. A recap with LOTS of flair!!
And I must admit — the hair truly is “layed” Un-kay?!! š
That was hilarious!
Mitt, in which country did you exile your economic patriotism? And do you think your tax dodges are economic refugees?
As a few of us have been saying, their internals must be scaring the shit out of them. Their entire criminal enterprise is on the verge of collapsing.
Not a minute too soon, baby! I want to watch the bonfire burn!
Yup. Especially, if all 3 branches of govt fall in dem hands, the juggernaut would have turned in another direction and the entire criminal enterprise of media+mic+wallstreet would collapse.
This is my prayer for Nov. 6, 2012! In the meantime, I must work as hard as I can to make it happen.
So crowd size is very encouraging but it isn’t necessarily reflective of what the polls will show.
voter fraud machines. That’s my guess
Well said, dudette. Unfortunately, that’s all true.
It’s a sight to see. he he he
TRUTH!!
“+ he doesn’t understand physics of pressurized airplane cabins.”
Tally, that in itself alone is cause for concern about Mitt’s “mental stability.”
Totally.
He’s a liar!
Perhaps he just needs the airline miles. [/snark]
I especially want to know how Romney’s investments abroad that gave him tax breaks helped create jobs in the U.S.
yup yup yup
Okay all, taking my nose-addled head to bed. See you all tomorrow.
{{{LL}}}
Feel better….
so true
“Projection” is the standard MO for the GOP! That’s what Karl Rove taught them so well. Witness the serial compulsive liar, Mitt Romney, announcing, before the debates, that President Obama will tell lies about him. Talk about “Pre-emptive Projection!” Sadly, the corporate media, with few minor exceptions, has allowed the GOP to get away with “Projection.”
Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing…..PBO’s got this tomorrow… AND we have his back:)
One of my faves from Mr. Morris, df! š
Love him…you know I do:)
best song ever!!!!! thanks so much desertflower!!! just singing and dancing around the house now!!!
We will prevail because we are powered by LOVE not HATE…
Glad to see that folks are setting Jake Tapper straight. He didn’t hesitate to join the FOX bandwagon about that 2007 tape.
evening all.
See you all tomorrow for all the fun.

Akin displays even more levels of stupidity. In 2008, he said some doctors give abortions to women who aren’t actually pregnant…
http://www.buzzfeed.com/rebeccaberg/akin-in-2008-doctors-give-abortions-to-women-who
FREEDOM, asshole.
okay, got that off my chest. is this guy losing the election yet? please??
Freedom from assholes….yes let women be free!!
You said everything I said when I first heard this. They are ridiculous – they don’t see women as human beings.
A man like this should be getting zero votes. Zero. He needs help. And a basic sex education class.
Yup – this one was the line for me. Completely insane. They make me tired.
And for those of you who are worried about watching the debate tomorrow night, PlanetPOV has already pre-reviewed it for you:
“A Definitive Review of the Obama/Romney Debate Before It Even Takes Place” (pretty funny!)

I see Jake Tapper of ABC has jumped in with Hannity and Carlson re. “scary” 2007 vid. If there was ever a doubt………
People are revealing themselves. I would think they would be embarrassed or ashamed.
They are right wing hacks, of course they have no shame or decency.
Reminds me of Pee Wee Herman saying “I know you are but what am I”
My contribution to the musical tribute to love: “If” by Bread
Bread…ahh takes me back to high school, David Gates and Bread.
Bread was one of the best bands. Every song is amazing! I bought their “best of” CD a few years ago for my Dad – and I kept it for myself after listening to it…
Oh wow, this song would always bring me to tears! Swoon!
“Truly”
Last one for tonight… Good night everyone!
Good night, Dudette – good one to end on.
My ears started bleeding.
Zing!

….and here we go…

Bob Woodward on MJ said that the media is failing the public and that they are majoring in polls and not informing the public of the candidates. Cut away to commercials and gleeful joe response was not given.
GOOD MORNING, TODville!!
