Any audio or video on Ann Romney’s Mental well being.

    • September 28, 2012 at 8:06 pm

I think it is interesting that she claimed to have minor surgery on her right hand, but that is the hand she is holding the mike with. Hum.

If we’re on the topic of idiotic effin NONSENSE that drives us up the effin wall: 1) willard is a great business person. Really? He made a ton of money as a mercenary financier and no doubt has THAT narrow skill set in spades, but there’s NO evidence of general management ability. He kept the SLC olympics from failing with 1.3 billion of federal funds. 2) He’s a great leader. Really?? When, where, how?? At his cloistered firm of clone-like lilly white men 15+ years ago? He slunk out of office as the governor of MA after one term with a 64% disapproval rating.

No. I have known for a while now. The main reason that I just can’t stand Willard or Ann. What irks me is that Al Gore and Kerry were hounded for fatuous made up things and the media that played Mrs. Obama’s one comment about being proud and Ann Romney says these idiotic insulting things over and over and the media looks the other way. Hilary Rosen was talked about for 3 weeks for speaking the truth, yet Ann Romney is not questioned about her reckless verbiages.

Jackie, in keeping with the point you raised, I noticed that her interviewer said Ann apparently couldn’t shake hands before their interview because of the surgery. Maybe holding the mike aggravated it? πŸ™„

        September 29, 2012 at 1:54 am

Cindy McCain suffered a similar affliction around this time during the 2008 election. Hands with soft tissue injuries are aggravated by the tendon flexion of a handshake, yes, while holding a microphone for a bit could be OK. On one hand ironic, on the other an indication, perhaps, of women who have no calluses.

          September 29, 2012 at 5:02 am

Or could the more plausible explanation be that both women -Cindy McCain and Ann Romney- who have way too much in common including their superficiality, inauthenticity, embarrassing and off-putting sense of entitlement, a penchant for lying, reaching and uncontrollabe outbursts, Oscar de la Renta outfits they both hoped would magically transform them into first ladies (because they are both that gullible), and husbands that both lost to Barack Obama…

Could it be just as simple as this: they both just don’t want to touch the unwashed masses if they can avoid it…

          • 18 Virginia
            September 29, 2012 at 9:50 am

That very well may be part of it, and it may very well be somewhat unconscious. I also have noted that Ann Romney refers so often to her illnesses and physical problems. That’s OK to an extent,, but at some point it gets a bit tiresome and starts to sound whiney, and like making excuses. We are all sympathetic of course, but the fact that your wife has had major health problems doesn’t make you more qualified or more entitled to be the President.
Now I’m wondering if she’s implying that we should vote for Mitt so he won’t have some kind of mental break, or even worse she is concerned the presidency might cause the break?? OR, is she talking about her own mental health??

      • 19 Chi
        September 29, 2012 at 5:53 am

@Jackie, I wonder how difficult it might have been for the Romney campaign to find Ann an alternative hands-free microphone set up…

A lapel microphone or the one she’s shown using but simply attached to a mounting clip – or even a combination of both, might have still allowed her to move around freely as she attacked President Obama, without compromising the ‘operated upon hand’…

The angle and flexing movement in which she holds and uses the microphone is actually similar to that that would cause strain especially on a recently operated upon hand…

Ann Romney is just too pathetic for words…

In the short time she’s been inflicted upon the American people, Anne Romney has had so many afflictions and too many corresponding woe is me stories…

Isn’t it the norm to keep a stiff upper lip, grin and bear it and suffer quietly and then much, much later if ever, tell or write a book about the many personal travails and be declared stoic and a hero to silent sufferers who gave it their all…

In all the time we’ve known Mrs Obama, we’ve never been burdened with any stories of ill-health or discomforts she might be going through…

        Not a headache or a cold…

And we know she must have tough moments too…

But Mrs Obama doesn’t indulge in self-pity and if there ever was a person who would have the world’s permission to…

And how telling that Anne Romney with all the wealth she and her husband have callously amassed and swim in, will only address the issue of Multiple Sclerosis and breast cancer as a glib pet cause and only for the purposes of a white House run…when she isn’t personally wielding it for all sorts of Anne as victim purposes…

A bored housewife empty nester for all these years, wouldn’t it have been more convincing if Ann Romney had done something tangible about helping others and shining light on these two issues long before now…

For people who have been plotting and running for office forever, they don’t even seem to care enough to fake it…

A million dollar foundation or some random annual benefit named for Ann to raise awareness and funding…something, anything…

Ann and Mitt Romney are such uncanny reminders of Meg Whitman…

Mind-blowingly cold, greedy, selfish, callous, sociopathic and with too many missing sensitivity chips…

        But Karma always comes through…

          September 29, 2012 at 10:03 am

I think if she could, Ann Romney would have walked away from this weeks ago. Neither one of them is up to this, but she is especially unsuited. And, where are the boys?? I thought sure sure they would be front and center protecting their parents. I haven’t seen one of them in weeks. They’re all adults who’ve had high quality educations. Why isn’t at least one or two of them front and center? (Aren’t there 5 of them?) I find that puzzling.

Consider the recent social phenom of the hug as a greeting accepted even in some business circles, replacing the handshake. Would never happen in a Romney White House. (ok, sorry to string those 3 words together but you get my point)

For fun, Google image search “Ann Romney hugs.” And then “Michelle Obama hugs.” You know what it looks like, but the side-x-side comp is extra stark.

Even he was quite put-off by her and Chris Hayes…

He confessed he was beginning to tire of her and was pissed at some piece she did yesterday on Afghanistan which my friend called dishonest and purposely misleading…

Which he seemed to blame mostly on Rachel’s need to impress Richard Engel who my friend describes as a shallow wannabe who mostly lacks integrity, craves relevance and reaches for it through exploiting very delicate events in the Middle East to burnish his bona fides as some sort of credible Middle East political observer and expert…

And in the end it really is all about being able to command obscene amounts in book advances as their goals ultimately is to churn out books as self-proclaimed authorities while of course arm-chair quarterbacking President Obama…

    Loved your tweet, Chips:

Someone needs to tell Miss Ann that she’s not helping. She and Mitt have no social skills outside their own circle of acquaintances and sons. Doubt if their relationships are really friendships, considering the way Mitt interacts (not) with babies and Miss Ann chiding “You people” and “It’s hard.”

Ann’s statement is actually pretty scary, given this observation from Vanity Fair’s James Wolcott after the Egypt/Libya attacks on Sept. 11th:

“Ghastly politics aside, there’s something seriously wrong–psychologically off–about Mitt Romney.”

  17. September 28, 2012 at 8:47 pm

Those really are amazing comments by Ann Romney –

Reporter: “… she also has worries should her husband become President.”

AR: “I think, um, my biggest concern obviously would just be for the, um, his mental well-being. I have all the confidence in the world in his ability … [but] for me it would just be the emotional part of it.”

From around 7 minutes in to the video here:

There’s something really dysfunctional about the Willard/MissAnn relationship. She is constantly diminishing him, saying he can’t do a thing without her, that he needs to get her nod of approval after every debate answer. At one point she said she guessed she would have to do all the talking from now on because Willard kept flubbing up. (proven to be a big miscalculation) And any sensible person would know not to say (in public) that the presidential candidate’s dad was crazy, and, for heavens’ sake, would know not to say that you question his mental well-being, his emotional well-being should he be elected. It’s almost as if she is getting even for playing 2nd fiddle her whole life, for having to serve him dinner first and alone, for everything being about him. It’s almost as if she is purposely trying to derail his campaign, not that he needed her nudge. That’s my amateur psychoanalysis, but I see relationship dysfunction—-big time.
(also thought it was really weird when she told Leno that she made a video for Willard after the last presidential run saying she would NEVER agree to do that again——really? a video? Stranger than strange. Maybe she sees the writing on the wall and is lashing out, justifying the loss—–kindof “I told you so”, again trying to take control)

      • September 28, 2012 at 9:19 pm

Completely agree with your assessment. He has more than one screw loose and she’s a tyrant. The way they ran their household is just really very creepy. I think she is terrified of the microscope that is part of being in the WH so she’s undermining him, consciously or subconsciously.

The Wall Street Journal’s failure to disclose that 10 of its op-ed writers are Mitt Romney advisers has drawn criticism from veteran editorial page editors at some of the nation’s top newspapers.

In a total of 23 pieces, the op-ed writers attacked President Obama or praised Romney without the paper acknowledging their Romney connections.

Media Matters reached out to several veteran opinion editors who either criticized the Journal directly or noted that their papers handle such disclosures more openly.

“Not disclosing is inexcusable,” declared Stephen Henderson, editorial page editor of the Detroit Free Press since 2009. “If you don’t know, that is one thing, but if you are hiding it or purposely not disclosing it I am not sure what the rationale would be. We are pretty careful here to disclose any affiliation. There are times we have declined pieces because someone is too close to it. I am pretty shocked by that.”

He added that it’s the newspaper’s responsibility to discover and report conflicts: “The Journal is publishing this stuff, so the responsibility falls on them. I expect my op ed editor to ask anyone who is writing about a campaign or a ballot issue, ‘are you involved with the campaign? Are you being paid by someone to write this?’ That is our job.”

Is it a mental well-being issue on their part, Meta?

      • September 28, 2012 at 8:57 pm

I think Republicans are throwing in the towel on Mittens. He’s definitely a lost cause, not even worthy of serious consideration. And they did this all to themselves.

        • September 28, 2012 at 9:03 pm

It’s looking that way Meta. I think they’ll wait to see how he does in the first debate, and needless to say they’ll furiously try to spin it their way, but if it’s a fiasco I think they’ll wash their hands of him and focus on clinging on to Congress seats by distancing themselves from the freak. It’s just not going well … but hey, you reap what you sow.

          • September 28, 2012 at 9:13 pm

I despise the creep but it’s shocking how unprepared he is to handle all this. He has no idea whatsoever how to campaign effectively and everything he says is truly bizarre. He lives in a tiny bubble and it’s bursting apart right now.

            • September 28, 2012 at 9:17 pm

I’ll confess, I’m absolutely astonished at how awful he is, he always repulsed me but I honestly thought he might be capable of running a smart (and deceitful) campaign that would trouble PBO if people fell for it. I really can’t get over how abysmal he is, we’re truly in Dan Quayle territory here – actually, waaaaaaay worse.

              • September 28, 2012 at 9:24 pm

I think back to the early days of PBO’s campaign and everything he did was incredibly brilliant and strategic. Everything was well planned and thought out – gamed within an inch of its life. He knew the long and the short-term gains and – MOST OF ALL – he knew how to be himself. I was impressed from the beginning and he kept surprising me with his genius. AND HE STILL DOES.

            • September 28, 2012 at 9:24 pm

Houston is in seeeeeerious trouble Bob! When I read the comments first I thought she just spoke really badly, that what she meant was the office of the President is such a demanding one, as a loving wife she worried for her Mittens, bla bla bla. But …. when you look at the video it’s actually way worse, it’s like she genuinely has SERIOUS concerns about his ability to cope. Not that he’ll ever get the chance to find out … and I suspect her bitterness in that interview, and the crap she spoke about PBO, suggests she knows that better than most.

                100% agree, Chips.

Do we elect a President who might loose his mind because of the pressures and demands of being President ? Is this a man who should be entrusted with nuclear weapons? She is preparing for the night they lose and the pieces she’ll have to pick up. There is NO REASON to blame PBO for the ineptness of her husband but that will be what happens. I would like to think so but I don’t see it. Go to any red blog site and they are, by and large, confident that the polls are going to tighten, etc and that they can turn out the base on Election Day. The whole “polls are skewed” crap going on is to keep the enthusiasm up. The power of belief is stronger than facts to that mindset.

On this whole tax return thing as time goes by I am more convinced that it is one UGLY UGLY situation and not just an “inconvenient political issue”. Having done some reading on what the various possibilities are I would just say that the core of it is Mitt Romney’s uncontrollable greed. By uncontrollable I mean exactly that – a physical and mental uncontrollable greed much like a person who is an alcoholic. Here’s a guy who KNEW he was going to run for president and yet took the most careless and huge risks in tax avoidance schemes that even the wealthiest and most money hungry millionaires don’t bother with because of the risks. And they aren’t even running for public office! And beyond the not paying taxes what also is the ugly ugly problem is where he invested his ill-gotten money. Again, because of his uncontrollable desire for power and love of money obsession he invested/stole/hid his millions in places that would be considered by the average American as un-American.

Remember Mitt Romney isn’t looking for Democrat approval of his tax returns. Here is where it is so ugly: these hidden tax returns are so bad that they would cause the most rabid Tea Party to not vote for him. Just think a moment about that. So bad that they couldn’t even go to vote AGAINST the Kenyan Muslim Black Socialist guy. Astoundingly awful and yet this is who their candidate for President – 5-7 points behind in the polls.

Forus, I think you got it exactly right about obsession with money, which I think, in his mind, trumps everything. He could not control himself from saving as much as possible from his tax schemes, almost as if the greatest sin in his mind is losing his own money. I’m sure he had absolutely no trouble risking anybody else’s money, but his is sacrosanct. That’s why even the political risk was acceptable–anything is acceptable rather than suffer a financial loss. Outside of fiction, I don’t think I’ve ever run into somebody like this before.

She DOES NOT WANT HIM TO BE PRESIDENT…….THANK YOU ANNE. You just sealed your husbands fate or got him off the hook!

President Obama to Nut-N-Ya-Who: “Did you hear what his own wife said about him? Do you want HIM as President after you go to war with Iran? He might not remember your name. Did you hear what the MA legislature said that he wouldn’t take THEIR calls and they’re in the same state! Keep F@#king with me dude and you’ll be voted out of office by your own people for endorsing a nutcase”.

The Robney Camp is calling for Susan Rice resignation, after the Benghazi attack.

Now, come on! This is way over the top.
The Robney camp is trying to set Himself up for the debate, it’s media driven crapola.

They aren’t calling for the resignation of the Secretary of State, but the Ambassador to the United Nations…

I have never thought Willard was all right in the head, and I have suspected that he has been heavily drugged on some occasions. There’s just something “off” with him (and his sidekick Ayn Ryan, for that matter). Ann’s demeanor and her choice of words here hint that life with Willard hasn’t been a bed of roses. The stories that have come out about how she handled her miscarriage basically on her own, how Willard eats before everybody else, his bullying past, his financially predatory behavior, how he tied his dog to the car roof (then hosed him off and tied him up there again) —- all this reveals a disturbed man.

Not that I have much sympathy for Ann, mind you. She is more than ready, willing, and able to perpetuate the lies and myths of Willard M. Romney so that she can get into the White House. I just think she’s in way over her head. She truly can’t understand why America doesn”t think as highly of her or her husband as she does. She just doesn’t get “[we] people,” and it leaves her a bit perturbed.

All I can say is I can’t wait until the night of November 6th when we can send these two back to California/Utah/New Hampshire/Michigan, where they can both relax, recuperate, and get all the mental health treatment they will surely need.

Thanks Pol.-Junkessa!!! “Dary” was a typo he’s Darby. But, you probably knew that! Toby is a black standard poodle, Haley is a chubby bichon and Darby is a powderpuff crested. My wife is allergic to most dogs so we have these hypo-allergenic sweeties. I love ’em all and wish I could have saved Seamus from his ordeal!

Am I the only one who thinks it’s truly odd that Romney spent the day in PA when he knows he has no chance of winning that state?

Yes. Df, Willard’s comment about PA was a thing of wonder. He is going to shock everyone by winning PA. Well, Willard, good luck with that. Try one of your little PA bus tours again. That ought to do it. I’m sure the people in Phillie would say, “Oh Gee, what was I thinking? I should really vote for Robney.”

Mentally challenged – Miss Ann seems to know him well – He is getting more and more like Sarah Palin (wanted to stay in Michigan) as each day passes. The GOP as it is now seems to assume defeat is actually a win – just have to make everyone understand that.

Mitt is counting on voter suppression.

OT but not really. We know only a few things about Mitt’s history: He & others tackled a kid and cut off his hair; he dressed up in police uniform and pulled people over; he shoved his son’s face down in butter at the dinner table; he tied his dog to the top of his car for 12 hours. Do the majority of Americans know these things? If President Obama had done these things, would he had won the primary let alone the presidency.

        September 28, 2012 at 10:20 pm

Sabreen, voter suppression works on the margin. It does not work with overwhelming numbers. Analysts have been calculating the effect of the voter ID on the PA vote for months now and place it’s impact at one or two percent at most. Even that may dissipate if we get a new ruling from the court re this election.

Didn’t the Republican speaker of the PA legislature guarantee a win for Romney after the enactment of the ID voter suppression law? In as much as I love PBO recent poll numbers I can’t relax until Nov. 7th.

New Akin ad hits McCaskill on ethics, stimulus (Updated)
    By JEDD ROSCHE | 9/28/12 5:42 PM
Todd Akin is coming out with a new ad, aggressively going after Sen. Claire McCaskill for getting rich from the president’s 2009 stimulus plan. The ad, shared early with POLITICO, comes amid a flurry of new activity as Republicans decide whether to support Akin now that there’s no question that he’ll stay in the Missouri Senate race.

    It’s getting ugly out there.

I am sorry Mitt is mentally weak and unstable! But I am very angry that Ann is so unethical to be out there campaigning for her husband to be president of the most powerful country in the world, despite her serious concerns about his “mental well being” should he become President. The job of being President of the United States is so enormous! It requires a person who is mentally strong and will not buckle under pressure.

    What ho, TOD peeps?

I’ve spent a very productive day doing chores and setting up my new laptop, so I haven’t had much time to attend to matters political. I did give an extra donation to the DCCC to make SURE that we retake the House.

So, what’s happened today? Certainly something stupid didn’t come from the enemy camp, like, say, Ann Romney saying she’s worried for Mitt’s mental well-being? I mean, certainly, they’re not THAT stupid? Are they?

Ann Romney: Mitt Might Go Mental If Elected President

    By Deaniac83

Well, if Ann had asked me, I would have told her the time to worry about Mitt’s mental well-being is long past. I mean, when someone builds their entire campaign on a set of lies, it can admittedly take a toll out of them. And keeping the Teabaggers happy… I have no idea how one would do that without going at least a little mental (whether in the crazy sense or in the evil sense). And I am pretty sure that a Romney presidency will make all sane Americans at least a little mental. But now that we are talking about a possible Romney presidency, what can be better than a president whose own wife has to worry about his mental sanity should he be elected.

This whole thing is seriously creepy, from Queen Ann “Telling” the voters what to think, to the way she tears down PBO (can you imagine Miche doing that to Romney?) to the people who find her inspirational and a breath of fresh air……yuck. They need to be told what to think?????? Those interviewed after the event remind me of a bunch of sheep being led to the slaughterhouse. But she obviously plays to her audience which just reaffirms my current thoughts about a good share of the Repub party these days.
