Makes you wonder if it’s part GOP strategy to send as many of the 99% into battle as possible.

              September 24, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Actually, that doesn’t happen but if a window blows out the cabin is no longer pressurized and you have very little oxygen (that’s why they have those little masks that drop down “in case of a loss of pressure.” It also gets FEARSOMELY COLD. At, let’s say 30,000 feet you’d freeze to death rapidly even if you had an oxygen mask.
(I saw them test the sucked-out-of-the-window story on Mythbusters — so it must be true! 😉

          • September 24, 2012 at 7:13 pm

In fact, ck, you don’t even have to ‘open a window’ or any ‘hole’ in the fuselage. If you lose pressure at typical commercial or private jet altitudes you quickly asphyxiate due to hypoxia & if that didn’t kill you because you are able to use supplemental oxygen, you’d likely freeze to death if you didn’t land quickly. Even if #BainMitt tries to spin it as a joke, there’s absolutely nothing funny about it. It’s a horrible way to die as was seared into many people’s memory because of the Learjet crash of golf star Payne Stewart and his crew:

There was an Airliner many years ago that was flying to or from HI and the top was blown off. That pilot Miraculously was able to land that air plane. Unfortunately a number of people were sucked off the air plane and their bodies were Never Found.

Yep that was in 1988 and the airline was Aloha Airlines from Hilo to Honolulu. Only one person, a flight attendent was sucked out the plane according to wiki. I thought there were more. I remember people hanging onto one another to make sure no one else or seats got sucked out. That pilot was another Hero that landed that damaged plane safely.

I posted before I saw your reply. I remember the Payne Stewart crash — and here’s how memory can be so unreliable. I remembered that he was the pilot and that he crashed into the ocean. Other than that 😉 my memory was completely accurate.

It was an Aloha Airlines on April 28, 1988. The flight was at 24,000 feet. It tore a huge hole on top of the air plane. One fatality, a flight attendant. 65 people were injured of the 90 passenger.

Southwest jet on April 4, 2011. No one was blown off. At 34,000 feet. Section of the fuselage was ripped off.

none of these ads say that emergency room care is not free! the fundamental lie coming out of myth’s mouth is when he says we already provide free care–like when we send an ambulance and take you to the hospital and take care of you, and different states deal with it different ways. yeah, myth, but they all send you a bill!!! he cannot really believe that is free care, but he says it like it’s a well-known fact.

In addition to showing off our glorious and beautiful first couple, there’s a lot going on in those photos. Barack and Michelle are lovingly holding hands, Joy is determinedly locking arms with Michelle, Barbara looks a little spacey trying to get the president’s undivided attention. Whoopi managed to get in some tidbit of conversation with Michelle. Sheri just keeps smiling at the camera off to her left, looks removed from anything going on. And Elizabeth is perched perkily at the end of the couch, trying to look cute but she cannot hide the ugliness within— and looks real disappointed with the loveliness of today’s guests.

    • 95 theo67
      September 24, 2012 at 6:20 pm

Sheri thought the world was flat up until a few years ago, and I’m not sure she was completely convinced otherwise… I totally agree with your assessment of Hasselbeck.

The attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed the American ambassador to the country earlier this month “wasn’t just a mob action,” President Barack Obama said Monday.

During an appearance on the daytime TV show “The View,” Obama was asked if the attack was an act of terrorism. Administration officials began labeling it that way last week, but Obama didn’t use precisely that language.

“There’s no doubt that the kind of weapons that were used, the ongoing assault, that it wasn’t just a mob action. What’s clear is that, around the world, there are still a lot of threats out there,” Obama said, according to a pool report.

Initially, the Obama administration claimed the attack grew out of a protest underway at the consulate in response to an anti-Muslim video posted on the Internet. However, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers said Sunday he had “no information” that a protest was underway at that consulate at the time of the attack.

After National Counterterrorism Center Director Matt Olsen labeled the incident as an act of terrorism last Wednesday during a Congressional hearing, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney picked up that line on Thursday, calling it “self-evident” that the attack was terrorism.

Republicans have jumped on the confusion to suggest that the administration deliberately understated the significance of the incident, which occurred on the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Despite indications that many in the Muslim world want government action taken against the anti-Muslim video that provoked recent violence, during his appearance on the “The View,” Obama stressed values shared by Muslim populations abroad and by Americans.

“The overwhelming majority of Muslims, they want the same things that families here want. They want opportunity, kids want an education, they want jobs, they want peace. But there are extremist strains that are there,” Obama said.

The president also insisted that the anti-Muslim video, which he has denounced, was not a justification for violence.

“There’s never an excuse for violence,” he said. “The best way to marginalize that kind of speech…is to ignore it. You don’t make yourself bigger by putting other people down.”

OMG – does this guy say anything with a SHRED of credibility or intelligence?? First he names Russia as our #1 enemy. Now I think if you poll 20 kids in 6th grade they would say Iran or Iraq or Afghanistan – not that that would be correct necessarily but it would be a better guess than the GOP nominee from Harvard who has been doing nothing but running for president for 6 years. But read this:

Romney Invests In “Number One Geopolitical Foe” Russia
Mitt Romney acquired and sold shares last year in the politically powerful Russian gas giant Gazprom. Ann and Mitt Romney’s family trust return, released Friday, shows Romney sold his Gazprom stock at a loss last September in advance of election season.

The Most Damning Line in the Secret Romney Video

    By David Corn

Yet one sentence did stand out to me. When Romney was in mid-rant about the 47 percent—simplistically and erroneously conflating three subsets of Americans: those who voted for Barack Obama, those who receive some form of government assistance, and those who pay no federal income taxes—he said:

I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.

Here was Romney sharing his view that Americans who don’t make enough money to pay income taxes and his fellow citizens who rely on Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, or other government programs are lesser people than he and the millionaires before him.

excellent point. myth has also been trying to slide out of this mess by saying he was only talking about appealing to them as potential supporters and voters–they’re being supported by gov’t so they’ll vote for the guy who gives them stuff.

but this line, about personal responsibility, clearly means he doesn’t think they’ll ever be decent human beings, not just that they won’t vote for him.

      now he’s really unzipped.

Hi, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. Just got this in my email and wanted to share. I hope it hasn’t been posted yet, but here it is again if it has:

We’re gearing up to share Michelle Obama’s first set of answers to all the awesome questions you submitted. For the first installment, the First Lady will be sharing her thoughts on education and women’s health. It’s been so fun to hear from all of you and we still want to hear what you’re thinking! Women are at the center of attention during this 2012 election season, and it’s more important than ever for us to get out there and vote. We are announcing a special interview series with First Lady Michelle Obama on PopSugar. Over the next few weeks, she will be here to answer your questions about the election and all the issues we are facing as women during this election time. We want to hear what’s on your mind, so share your questions. What are your concerns about women’s health care? Jobs? Education? Balancing being a working mom and wife? Whatever is on your mind, ask away; every week, the first lady will tackle your questions on a range of topics. Here’s Michelle Obama announcing our series in her own words.

          September 24, 2012 at 7:51 pm

Yes the WH Press Corps are the nutballs that grill Carney with repetitive and idiotic questions daily.
My best guess as to who is behind this is Jake Tapper. I see posts from Aug. when he says PBO giving interviews to People and Ent. Tonight is the “last straw” for him, that he “can’t stand” any more of this behavior from the president, avoiding his hard hitting questions, going to the fluff media. And I’m wondering if The View appearance set him off and was his last, last straw.
Either him or Ed Henry—-Chuck Todd seethes at PBO too.
If you check all the postings from the press corps in the Obama era, they’re all negative.

          • 164 hopefruit2

I know the WH Press corps journalists have been negative towards PBO, and they are rooting for a Romney presidency. But I am not convinced that it’s they who are running this account. Their reputations surely would be at stake here if it ever becomes public that they are running this account, and tweeting these vile comments about the President from it.

I always thought “White House Press Corp” was an alias for the Correspondents Association. Could be wrong though.

Wikipedia (I know, not necessarily authoritative, but useful): “The White House Press Corps is the group of journalists or correspondents usually stationed at the White House in Washington, D.C. to cover the president of the United States, White House events and news briefings. Their offices are located in the West Wing.” The link to WHCA above was on that entry.

Just read through it and it’s pretty much all hate and smear. No idea who is behind it. Is it normally better?

Might as well let them know we’ve noticed 🙂

I’m on barackobama.com going to make calls and all the words are jumbled like spanglish. Has anyone noticed that?

Have you all seen the new headlines on HuffPost. Bernie Sanders says he feels Obama will cut Social Security during the lame duck session as part of the debt reduction deal. Can you tell me why Bernie cannot wait until Obama wins to start his shit. The article is by Sam Stein.

    • September 24, 2012 at 7:33 pm

He was on one of the shows on Friday and said that. I changed the channel. He and 21 or 29 other Dems wrote a letter to the President asking whether he intends to cut Social Security.

OMG—geez. I wonder why he felt the need to throw that out there at this time, and who’s feeding him this propaganda—-or did he dream it? Idiotic.

Bernie Sanders loves to showboat and get his face on television. He’s as useless as the other characters who appeal to the emoprogs – Feingold, Weiner, Grayson, Kucinich. All about talking, not much in the way of results.

I can not stand that man, Bernie Sanders.

      • September 24, 2012 at 7:50 pm

The President has said he wants to raise the cap on SS, and Means Test More Wealthy individuals.
If that is not good for Sanders, he can Retire, he acts like a Brontosaurus.

If he raises the cap he may not need to means test SS benefits. If you pay into it, you should get it no matter how many millions you get. If it is means tested than what about people who NEVER paid into it?

POB is no fool. Stein is a two-faced person and not to be trusted. POB does not waste his precious time on people like Stein.

There is an excellent Exclusive article in Oct., Vanity Fair. Interview with POB done with Michael Lewis. I thought it was nicely done. Please check it out. HZ

        PF 58,
I havee never forgiven tein. The president gave him access as a blogger when he asked him a question. When the D.C media turned on him, he in turn trashed PBO instead of standing on his ground and basking in the gloy that PBO had asked a blogger a question in a pressor. As for Sanders he likes to trash PBO on Hartman that I no longer listen to the first hour on fridays.

Bernie Sanders is like the boy who cried Wolf. Everytime I see his mug on tv, I turn or mute the channel until his interview is over. He is getting worse. Why is he saying s*** like this when we are only a month away from the election. It serves no purpose. Those 29 Dems could have kept those signatures because PBO will not be backed and bullied into a corner.

‘ If you’ve vacationed in Hawaii, you know the come-hither scent of flowers, the trade winds cooling the peaks and the warmth of the southern ocean.

Now imagine growing up here, where Barack Obama was born, exposed from the first to a culture where the impossible has evolved: a multi-racial society, tolerant of differences and busily pursuing the delights and challenges of daily life.

For voters still wondering why Obama stays cool, thinks things through and keeps an eye focused on peaceful solutions, look toward the 50th state. The “ah-hah!” clues to the man have been right here all along, waiting to be mined. ‘

I just love them to pieces! And it looks like Joy feels about Michelle the same way I do, lol — how adorable is that? I haven’t watched the View Shrews in forever but I will definitely set my DVR for tomorrow.

(WTH does Whoopi have on her feet? I wonder if she actually stood up or walked in those things or if she put them on for sitting purposes only…)

Thank you Bobfr. I think Sam Stein should take down that article. It is not news. It is conjecture. It has no basis in fact. I think Sanders and Stein are seeing the polls and Romney/Ryan are losing the seniors vote so this is to help them
