Yes I am.
Just missed
Yup japa21 vc is up to her tricks again.
Am not! My moves are totally legal. What kind of a contestant would I be if I didn’t make use of all available legal loopholes? I wouldn’t deserve to get to the podium if I only just walked in the door without using the loopholes. Using them shows my… my… my….my….ask Mitt, he knows!
Silver tongued devil. Dick Cheney’s moves were legal too. 😆 😆
Using one of Amk’s favourite – Egg-zack-ly! 😉
that’s egg.sack.lee.
Hi Japa! We have a 3-way tie with Nena! Tonight I’m loving the company.
It has been a great Sunday. Righties having a hard time is great for USA.
I was Not able to watch the 60 mins show. I was just not up to seeing Romney today.
Me neither. I always have to wait until these things come on line but I really don’t mind – except when the O’s are involved.
Must confess, I was trying to Hold the door for YOU, VC. I might have gotten my toe in between the crack door some how. I am a newbie…loving the JOY that you bring to opening the TODville door for all to come in and soak in the Love.
You are one heck of a Lady.
Why, thank you, Nena. I didn’t step on your toe, did I? Apologies if I did. I do try to remember to move only with ladylike swiftness, but the memory is not as it used to be, and it seems to fade completely when I see a door opening. 😉 Not to worry, Obama lovers are never newbies for long in this village, and as a caution, if you try to hold doors you might inadvertently get trampled. Just make your own way in quickly when you see an open door. Just saying, ’cause I don’t know if the part of the ACA dealing with trampling in TODville has kicked in yet!
Not at all. You you are the best, still making sure that my toe is doing alright. Thank you. The memory is as sharp as ever. I enjoy tagging along and being your coattail. Learning leads to perfection. I have got the best TEACHER. I am in Great company.
Aaaw, dang! 😳 TY.
/Sheesh. Now I’ll have to try and behave circumspectly if a ‘newbie’ is going to be ‘learning’. Is this some of that reverse psychology stuff? I wonder if she did that deliberately? Lord knows I can only behave for so long. Sheeeesh./
Please don’t change a thing. I have loved every thing that you have shown here…..your humor. Your vitality. The joy that you show and share. I love every minute of it.
Now if we can get Chips to show Us 3 co-firsts some love……that would be the Icing on the cake. Should we protest and loudly?
‘Should we protest….?
Nah, Chips is usually super busy on the weekends, so I cut her some slack out of deep appreciation for the way she decorates TODville pictorally despite that. Me, I tend to get great satisfaction from needling her during the times when she has a wee bit more time to hang around and ‘shake hands’ along the TODville rope line. You’ll notice that she gives as good (or better) as she gets. What can I say – I have a weird sense of humour!
You’re missing him in orange face, bad spray tan/makeup job again. I can’t watch more than a second at a time—-the lying smirk is too revolting.
It doesn’t come on here in Arizona for another half hour. I will tape it so I can fast forward through the Romney BS.
Jackie…did you post this site to Dashboard? There was another TOD’er over there that posted the link for our home…wondered if it was you!
What is dashboard?
Dotster, are PBO and Mitt both on stage at the same time being questioned by the same person, or are they being interviewed one after the other?
Scott Pelley is interviewing Romney and Steve Kroft is interviewing President Obama. They were interviewed separately in the last few weeks.
Oh, so it’s two diff 60 Min segments? I get it.
Scott Pelley interviewed Romney first and Steve Kroft interviewed Obama. Then a little switchback to Romney and then a final few minutes with Obama. I couldn’t watch Romney, only caught a nano-second of his smirk when I would switch over to see if Obama was on yet. But I’ve noticed on twitter some of the ridiculous things he said. President Obama faced tough questions and answered in his calm, thoughtful, smart manner, impressive as always. I think he’s beyond brilliant.
TY, Dotster, and Jackie. It’s funny, but I normally prefer to see PBO live before any comments, yet I hate seeing Mitt ‘live’ because he usually seems so patheticand off-topic that I cringe in sympathy. Also when he’s campaigning I get a bit angry seeing the idiots standing and cheering when he hasn’t said anything worthy of cheers. Anyway, thank you both. I’ll hunt for them at CBS online, maybe tomorrow.
The only reason they had them both on at the same time was to avoid killing their ratings by doing just a MITTNOCCHIO interview. People would definitely tune into to see PBO. Most peeps probably TiVo paused and then fast forwarded thru all the MITTNOCCHIO segments.
Hi my name is Kim. I’m an Obamaholic.
Hi. My name is Jackie and I too am an Obamaholic.
Hiya Coz. Welcome if your mind is right.
Hey Yardarm, been here a while just don’t post much – and the “state of my mind” depends on how awful (on any given day, in any uncalled for moment) they are treating President Obama. Truly feels like we are fighting the entire civil rights movement again.
This is a great place to come when you’re feeling down. You won’t be able to stay that way for long.
AMEN! And again glad to know ya.
Welcome Kim. You’re among friends here. 🙂
Hi D, is you back in town or still in celebration land?
Hey VC. Still in AZ. Heading home on the red eye tonight.
Awrighty then, D. Travel safely, and save the good stories for your return. Sorry I can’t meet you at the airport, but I’d be too sleepy myself. 😉
Totally understandable vc. I will be sawing logs as soon as I get in my seat on the plane.
Wow. Top 10. Haven’t been in the top 10 for a while!
Hi folks! I tried to leave a comment on another thread, but I don’t think it went through — or maybe it wasn’t accepted? I’ve been following this site for a long time, and love it. Would love to be able to contribute from time to time. If I’m not doing anything correctly in terms of commenting, please let me know so I can fix it. Thanks, and go Obama!
Hi there,
Welcome! If you look here you’ll see how you can comment at the blog: http://theobamadiary.com/house-rules/
The quickest way is to sign in with a long-standing Twitter account.
Thanks!
Robme and PBO on 60 minutes now. It’s good to see how they’re interviewed. So far, Romney’s getting the follow-up questions, but he’s still not giving any specifics. PBO up next.
Saving details until AFTER the election.
Willard spewing crap. At least Pelley asking for specifics.
He doesn’t have any. He speaks in vague generalities. The Indians call it ‘double tongue’ or something like that.
“Forked tongue”, right! So, that describes Myth the Forker perfectly! 😆 look who’s home!
So I notice, Pamela, and picking on poor Myth a s soon as you walk in the door! Don’t you know what he’s doing is ‘hard’? Welcome home, anyways!
Who me? 😆 Not a chance! I have been home for a while, actually, filled the birdbaths, washed the car, walked and fed the cat, then washed my hair, just dropped in during dinner to see if y’all are behaving, and of course you ARE!! I left work at 4, try to get away a bit early on Sundays. Am also learning that I simply MUST get a few things done before I check in here, otherwise I am hopelessly hooked, so log me in as one them there obamaholics mentioned above! You know, old Myth probably spends the equivalent of my annual income on a dinner out, and would not demonstrate an iota of the stamina I have either! All this fussing about being jet lagged, tired, stress of campaigning, all from a nobody who doesn’t even have a JOB! Eff’er…. I will abuse him any time I please! 😆
‘… I simply MUST get a few things done before I check in here…’ Yep! That’s the strategy I’ve been using since offspring returned from summer away and it sure cools the guilt (I never felt when I was home alone and sitting online from morn till night). I would give you the job if I didn’t think you would take TOO MUCH pleasure in it, but someone should tell Mitt and Queen AnnD that the actual presidency comes with constant travel, tiredness, stress,..,,AND real work.
Hi Kim,
Welcome! We all approve that message. It is safe here…..you can exhale(whew!)
The graduated tax rate is considered fair in that those who can afford more pay more as it comes from their money above what it takes to live on. Many want the flat tax or paying the same percentage regardless of how much money they make. The poor and middle class are unfairly hit with the flat tax as it takes from the money they need for basics while the rich can easily pay their basics plus a lot more. It is kind of like their tax is like pennies to them. They don’t even miss the money. Whereas the poor have to miss out on a meal or the ability to fill their gas tank to drive to work in paying even a percentage more. There is a bible verse about a woman contributing a few coins into the collection while the wealthy make fun of her. That verse always impressed me.
Willard lying about the $716 billion, Pelley brought up Ryan having the same amount in his plan, Willard Sid: “I’m the one running for president.”
He’s running for King don’t cha know.
Don’t miss this … #BainMitt is truly broken, psychologically ….
‘that ends at the debates’?
how is it that he thinks it’s okay to unveil the specifics of his plans AT the debates? the whole point of a debate is to discuss and confront the opposing specifics. you unveil your plans in an announcement. you defend them in a debate.
i have no doubt that pbo is giving him plenty of rope to tie himself in knots with, but it still rankles me that the man is getting away with these antics. it’s a terrible precedent for politics in this county.
oops..’in this country.’
Willard being as vague as ever.
Talking about China now and borrowing money.
Willard blaming the crap in Washington on PBO, not on Repukes. Ass.
He’s definitely got a fake tan. 100% on that!
Willard said he’s going to win.
That is all he can say. I would have like for Mittens to have been strapped to a lie dictator machine or best be given a truth serum.
He even walks like he has a pole shoved up his butt!
I say the magic under garments makes him walk like that?
Depends?
He’s been wearing mommy jeans too much lately…..
LOL….is that why they call it magic?
“Mr. Romney, have you seen the polls, sir? They’re ugly.” “Umm well just the one I have stuck up my ass.”
aiiyeeeeee!
yardarm756, Tax returns
i think stiff miss ann is in there, to give him courage.
Now agreeing with PBO’s Afghanistan withdrawal time line. Lying to America about foreign affairs.
Where is everyone?
Right here, lisa. 🙂 PO coming up………..
So Willard, lying to placate any audience he’s confronted with. Nice.
For a guy who is Not an actor, he tries and keep playing to a different audience?
And keeps…..oops.
I’m on the west coast, so I’m reading your play by play then will decide if I’m going to watch it.
Romney…..horrible excuse for a human! Had to mute most of it.
Now they are talking about pres Obama.
The interview was conducted on Sept 12th? That is 11 days ago.
My question? Why wait so long to air it?
My response to her tweet ….
if i were a kind person, I would give that entitled serial pathological liar mitt advise : do not raise the expctations of your debate performance liar
I think Mitt thinks he’s President Obama, because he’s completely projecting. It’s got to be a type of psychosis. Not normal at all…
Please note that given the date of the interview, #BainMitt actually affirmed his loathing of #ThosePeople BEFORE David Corn broke the story on MJ …
Gonna make this stick ….
that’s retroactive doubling down–an olympic stunt!
I didn’t see this yesterday. Unbelievable!
Mitt Fit: Romney Threw ‘Temper Tantrum’ and Forced Univision to Re-tape Intro
http://www.politicususa.com/mitt-fit-romney-threw-temper-tantrum-forced-univision-re-tape-intro.html
It’s frustrating that these seniors in Florida still going to vote for Vulture Voucher are part of the 47% “moochers”.
Let’s see, Mitt up 51-44 with men, 53-42 whites, I wonder who then make up the 2% difference between men and whites?
Women? Whites include both sexes.
Those are apples and oranges. Gender category only has one other which is women. Race has categories of African American and Hispanics, White and Other. See crosstabs here.http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2011/PPP_Release_FL_923.pdf
too many moving parts, I think I’ll stick with the state electoral findings.
That asshole asking if PBO doesn’t share the blame in the discord in Washington? What an ass! What the fuck! Is that creep blind?
he tried to box the President in a corner…
he said the President should have been able to break thru the gridlock….i have heard this before….
but despite the gridlock look what he has been able to accomplish..
the President did say that it will be the American People who will alter that gridlock…hence that is what the President meant by changing Washington from the Outside….
vote vote vote!!! though he hasn’t specifically said, folks, i need you to elect me a congress i can work with to get this stuff done, the implication is so strong–and he respects us enough to let us draw that conclusion ourselves.
Why is he being so tough on our President who has done so much, who is worthy of so much respect? This is awful, no matter our President’s answers … he is trying to beat him up, beat him down. I hate this.
He’s a disrespectful asshole. He’s not even listening to the answers, he’s just biding his time till his next bullshit question!
I’m not liking this dude that’s interviewing PBO. It’s almost like that question, “Do you still beat your wife?”
He was after all the same guy who scolded President Obama for smiling during an interview earlier on in his presidency…
Steve Croft is an self-important, disingenuous idiot…
And he’s a runt too.
This guy blaming the deficit on PBO! PBO had to set him straight!
this is how the debates will be….but despite the tough questioning…PBO prevailed…
right on!!
🙂
Two things … Romney loses it when he says at the end that his campaign does not need turning around, it was him on the tape, not his campaign and his campaign is on track. WTF? President Obama is very effective when he says, if Governor Romeny wants to declare a war, he should say so.
Who is that ass asking PBO questions? How can he accuse PBO of being responsible for the tone in Washington?! And there’s no way PBO could have said: that’s bullshit, asshole and you know it! What a fricking creep!
Pelley asking Willard about the qualities of a leader. Okay, like Willard would know.
I think Steve Croft is doing way better than he’s don in the past interviewing PBO. He framed the questions this time pointing out MItt’s and the Repubs failures. For example, ‘ They said they will make you a one-term president, do you take any responsibility for that’. Well, to the average listener, that’s a ‘well, d’uh’. He also drew the contrast between PBO and Mitt by name and not his usual, ‘but you promised’ stuff, or the ‘what’s so funny’ from the past. Overall, and I admit a bias, I think this showed Mitt in the worse light possible and PBO much better. We knew the interview wasn’t going to be about what’s growing in the WH garden. PBO is a big boy and he handles himself well, imo.
This tells me the debates will be a not so great for the other guy.
I think we’re watching different things cause Croft is an asshole.
I’m watching with my good eye and I’m listening with both ears so just cause the interviewer isn’t asking the questions you may want to hear. It’s a decent interview. Fer gosh sakes, PBO is the leader of the free world, give him a little credit for being able to get through an interview. By comparison to his responsibility and all that he does, this is no more than a Sunday evening chat.
Well, we’ll agree to disagree. Croft asked BS Repuke talking point questions from my perspective, but you feel differently. Okay.
Lisa, I hear what you’re saying but I have to believe POTUS respects Scott Pelley for asking the tough questions. He knows what the questions are going to be in general well in advance (for example unemployment rate, tone in Washington, etc.) If POTUS wanted a softball interview he would go on “The View” or “Jay Leno”. And I don’t think he respects the cable shows. Every president gets grilled like this on 60 Minutes and that’s why it has a reputation for trustworthy and informative.
IPelley is with Willard, Croft is with PBO. Not listening to answers and accusing PBO of swelling the national debt by 60% in 4 years, to which PBO said: ah……No. Then he had to set him straight about Bush’s debt and the wars and prescription drug plan and tax cuts that were run up on the credit card. That was a hack move on Croft’s part. Same with accusing PBO of having some part in the acrimony in Washington. PBO had to remind Croft of McTurtle’s not so secret goal of making PBO a one term president.
Lisa ..
i agree that he was tough on PBO… he asked the question about the tone of Washington …something that PBO ran on and tried to change/but there has never been a Congress like this GOP Congress …they obstructed everything…even bills that Repubs helped to write…They are truly the Party of NO…for alot of Americans they do not know how Congress works ..they think that the Presidency is like a KING…
they may buy into the notion that PBO somehow was not a good leader and that is why he could not persuade the GOP to cooperate…
i think the clue to this answer is notion that it takes an organized electorate to push Congress to act…i hope that PBO and company…talk more about this….
I agree with you. Croft framed his questions like “do you still beat your wife”? I think he was disrespectful. I don’t expect softball questions. I do expect respectful questions. For instance, Croft could have put the question re the debt….”the debt is $$$. Please explain how and why the debt is this amount”? Instead Croft framed the question as though President Obama is responsible for the entire debt instead of the actual 10%.
Scott Pelley was not the one asking the President questions. It was Steve Croft, who in my humble opinion, regurgitated GOP talking points instead of asking intelligent and factually based questions. I also reject the notion that asking questions that are not fact based is the same asking tough questions and not “softball” questions. Just my two cents.
Agree.
In_deed! Agree!
#FORWARD
I like when PBO gets tough interviews. It allows him to show his brilliance while also debunking lies.
Now…Here, here….collegeKay. Smart men like Our pres loves to be challenged. So long as it is respectful.
I agree! But I thought at times Croft was disrespectful and seemed to be repeating GOP talking points. Obviously the President handled himself well; but still, asking questions based on false premises reinforces the validity of those false premises in the minds of uninformed viewers. This is what’s wrong with the current state of U.S. journalism. Instead of separating Truth and falsehood, many media people treat TRUTH and FALSEHOOD equally.
I think it was a decent interview. By asking those GOP talking point questions, Croft allowed PBO to respond to those charges. It was not a soft ball interview, but it was not unfair. Croft did not interrupt PBO when he was responding to his questions (that is the main problem I have had with others who interviewed PBO). PBO got to respond in full to the GOP talking points that voters are bombarded with everyday. They guy who interviewed Mitt also did a decent job, in my opinion. Though not perfect by any means, I think that 60 Minutes is probably still the most widely respected news show there is. That is why PBO often uses it to get his message out, and why PBO chooses Croft to be his interviewer.
Whether the interview was decent or not was not my point! My point is reputable journalists should not ask question based on false factual information; unless they clearly state that they are trying to play the devil’s advocate. With all due respect, I really don’t care how “60 minutes is probably still the most widely respected news show there is.” What I care about is people who claim to be respectable journalists asking questions premised on the TRUTH and not on the GOP/teabag falsehoods. For example: reputable sources exist that clearly shows that the debt under President Obama has not grown the slowest compared to four of his predecessors (Reagan, Bush Sr., Clinton, and Bush, Jr.) So, why ask a question that says that the debit has grown 60% under President Obama? The fact that a reputable journalists asks such a question without qualification, or explanation, implies that the question is based on fact.
By “decent” I meant it was a fair interview. You obviously disagree with my view, and that is your right. You seem fixated on one question (that PBO was able to answer and refute). This false info is out there and by asking the question, Croft gave PBO the opportunity to respond to the charge, which PBO did beautifully. All in all the interviews of PBO and Mitt were fair and gave both candidates the opportunity to answer questions many voters have about them. While you don’t care about 60 Minutes’ stature, it is obvious that PBO disagrees with you (as evidenced by his using the show to get his message out directly to the American people on numerous occasions). In addition, since PBO has chosen to give Croft access for these lengthy one on one interviews, he seems to trust him to be a fair interviewer, which I think he has been. Not perfect, but fair.
Obviously you respect Croft and you are willing to give him a pass. I really don’t want to belabor this, but my concern is that if we allow false information and false premises to go unchallenged it becomes that much more difficult to deal with the truth. You accused me of being “fixated on one question.” You are absolutely right. But this one question happens to be the very central reason for the GOP opposition to President Obama. Romney has repeated it over and over again. And so have many right wing Republicans I run into all the time. It’s also the attack that seems to resonate with so many so called independents. Again, my bottom line is that a reputable journalist has an obligation not to ask any question based on falsehoods. But if you are comfortable with what Croft did then there is nothing I can say that will change your opinion. Please don’t get me wrong, I am not looking for perfection. I am only interested in journalistic integrity.
False information and false premises DID NOT go unchallenged. PBO was given the opportunity to respond to that false info and he did so beautifully (pointing to the 2 wars, prescription drug benefit and tax cuts that were not paid for by GWB). That is all I am saying. As for Croft, I don’t know him well enough to give him respect or a pass (I’m going by the fact that PBO chooses to give him access, which he does not have to). I watched the interview and did not have the viseral anger you had watching it. Looking at the show as a whole, both Mitt and PBO were treated fairly.
I never said that President Obama did not challenge false facts and false premises. I also resent your characterization of the questions I raised as being based on my “viseral (sp) anger” I had “watching it.” Like you, I don’t know Mr. Croft personally. I was not angry at him; rather I was disappointed that he acted exactly the same way as his fellow mainstream journalists. All I was trying to point out is that Mr. Craft asked questions based on GOP talking points but pretended that they were factually based questions. And because he is supposedly a reputable journalists, chances are that uninformed people are likely to believe him than they are to believe the President who will be presumed to be giving political answers that make him look good. Other than the President, who else challenged Croft’s false information and false premises? It seems to me that as far as you are concerned, it was o.k. for Croft to use Republican/teabag talking points to frame his questions, without clear attribution, so long as you felt that “both Mitt and PBO were treated fairly.” In that case all I can do is respectfully disagree with you and move-on. In the end, It really doesn’t really matter about our take on the 60 minutes interviews, so longer as we both stay committed to supporting the President’s re-election. At least we do agree on one thing: President Obama handled himself admirably and answered all questions including questions based on false facts and false premises.
I do agree with you, College Kay. i hate seeing the President being disrespected, but when he’s asked questions using GOP talking points, it will reverberate with those who have been fed a constant FOX diet. I hate to see it and hear it, but he then is able to tackle the exact lies they’ve been hearing from the cable “news” outlets and FOX. And that’s a good thing.
Well said theo. That’s exactly it which I hadn’t been able to articulate. If the question is framed in the same (wrong ) way that FAUX NEWS does it then people can put it together.
Personally, these #NEWSTAINERS foolish behavior truly enables our President Obama to demonstrate just how remarkably Presidential he is. The contrast with #BainMitt is made even more glaringly obvious. So, while it’s only natural to be upset by their behavior, just watch our President eloquently put them in their place and smile 🙂
this^^^^
Pres. Obama is killing it on 60 Minutes. Romney came off as uncomfortable and whiny. He was one question away from yelling STOP IT! THIS IS HARD!
I think you’ll like this one from Political Bill, if you haven’t already seen it, ut 🙂
I know that the pres almost always never mentioning the obstructionism when being interviewed. It will be nice if some times he reminds the reporters by just saying….by the time I got here, most of them have already made up their minds to block everything during a time of crisis.
Greg Sargent @ThePlumLineGS
————————
Obama, on CBS: “If Governor Romney is suggesting we should start another war, he should say so.”
————————–
Yep…..He should say so, indeed.
Willard coming off as a choir boy. His big idea: FREEDOM!!!!
Since when was freedom lost? 🙄 what an ass.
I think he’s coming off stiff and fake as usual.
Romney has or exhibits another characteristic that Palin did during the campaign (not so much now as she virtually snarls on FOX when she talks about our President) and that is an almost constant smile or smirk on his face. It is almost like if I smile at you and I look cute you will believe anything I say. Even the Vogue article on Palin months before she was selected as VP candidate, referred to her almost constant smile (Vogue, February issue 2008). It is not real, it is freaky and narcissistic.
when he says ‘freedom’ he means ‘free to make money without regulations, taxes, or pesky unions interfering’.
Hmm not sure if I should watch or not.
Freedom? Freedom? Buzz word. Full of sound and fury, signifying Nothing.
Nothing about Romney’s missing tax returns and just a fleeting question on the 47% video. However PBO is being grilled to the core.
Have to turn this mess off or BP will rise.
One is president. They know will remain president. While the other is just a lying pretender.
People can see and judge for themselves. It is not the questions that I have issues with. It is in their answers.
Wasn’t this taped during the Libya consulate disaster and before the 47%j thing?
The interview only had 47%. The interview was out of the news cycle as they say.
Something tells me Willard knew the question about the historian long before it was asked.
But he still managed to mess it up by saying he admired that Adams referred and deferred to his wife. Ann…toinette has already told us he can’t do anything without her. So he’s telling us who will have the most influence during his presidency. Sometimes when people tell you who they are, we should believe them. Mitt didn’t do well on this, even with the crib notes.
🙂
Priceless.
My favorite zinger to Kroft by PBO on that nonsense foreign policy question (paraphrasing): I said we’d end the war in Iraq, we did. I said we’d go after AQ, OBL is gone. If Gov Romney is suggesting that we start another war, then he should say so.
Hah! Fell off my couch! LOL!

Yep!!
I do not understand the commercial at the top. Someone please tell me what is so bad about what Robme is saying. I am late to this game. Don’t jump all over me, but I really am not getting this one.
It’s highlighting his hypocrisy regarding coal mining. You are correct that what he says at the end is true. The hypocrisy is his recent appearance at a coal mine, where workers were forced to attend and lost pay that day, to serve as a prop for #BainMitt bashing #PBO’s policies toward coal and the fact that, way beyond those policies, the big impact on US coal production is ‘the market’ for real – natural gas is just way less expensive in any current total cost model for the two resources.
Not to worry folk – no one is going to jump on you for asking reasonable questions.
#PRESSON
Thanks. Now I get it.
I too did not “get” the commercial above. I follow everything closely so think it may be too complex for the average viewer. The explanation makes sense but having to explain it means it missed its mark.
Maybe send a note to the campaign to tell them this ad doesn’t seem to be effective? They would probably appreciate the feedback.
Cindysweat, I sympathize with your confusion! I thought the commercial ended abruptly without delivering the message which is: Romney’s flip-flopping on Coal! It’s utter hypocrisy that is so central to both Romney/Ryan that I thought the commercial was attempting to highlight. But, to be honest, this commercial didn’t clearly deliver that message.
How can his surrogates spin this ‘I am not my campaign’ nonsense? You were campaigning when the statements were made. How can you say you are not your campaign?
Scott Pelley: Well– as you know, a lot of people were concerned about the video of the fundraiser in which you talked about the 47 percent of the American people who don’t pay taxes. Peggy Noonan, a very well-known conservative columnist, said that it was an example of this campaign being incompetent. And I wonder if any of that criticism gets through to you and whether you’re concerned about it at all, whether–
Mitt Romney: Well, that’s not–
Scott Pelley: –the concerns of Republicans–
Mitt Romney: That’s not…that’s not the campaign. That was me, right? I– that’s not a campaign.
Romney seems like Palin…..he has always got to say something….no matter how foolish and fatuous his answers turn out to be. At 65 yrs old, the man needs some help, I think.
Say, Willard, as your “campaign” implodes please be sure to guard your money before you blow it all on President Obama and Vice-President Biden’s re-election. I understand that you had to BORROW 11 million. Are you going to put any of your own money in? That will help with some of the 47% which I am sure in part were some who you shafted when you ran Bain capital. This also may help some of the former Massachussetts subjects that you ripped off while your were their illustrious governor. Also when you concede on November 6, 2012 for once in your pitiful life admit that you have shafted or help to shaft many a soul out of their hard earned dollars. If you will not admit this then just quietly go away before so much condemning evidence comes out against you that neither you, your disheveled wife nor your sons will be able to show face and someone indicts you.
Mitt Romney is just another borrow and spend Republican.
Yeah, just don’t go to Australia…..
Kroft came with GOP talking points. On the one hand it was annoyingly disgusting, on the other hand, this is the bullpokey he’s going to have to deal with during the debates. But boy am I annoyed at the softball questions Willard got, even though Pelley tried.
You nailed it Lisa. That’s exactly how I saw these interviews. So ok, if you are going to be tough on the President then be equally
tough on the wannabe. I was like you, annoyed.
One thing I know you all know, is that POTUS can handle the hard questions. He doesn’t have to be spoon fed like a baby.
Holla! That’s why he’s my guy. He’s got this!!
No one is asking that he be spoon fed, but at least these so called journalist can respect viewers and the people they interview, enough to ask factual questions, not made up GOP hogwash. PBO increasing the national debt by 60%? That’s not a credible question. That’s Tea Party hysterics.
I totally agree with you Lisa! My problem was not what President Obama can handle. I know he can handle any bs with calm and confidence, and grace on top of that. My problem is with journalists who ask questions based on false premises as if they were legitimate questions. Like you said asking the President premised on “PBO increasing the national debt by 60%….” is not a legitimate question. Steve Kroft, as a reputable journalist has an obligation to research the validity of GOP and teabag claims before repeating them as if they were legitimate facts.
By the way, Lisalovesobama, this is what I wanted to add before I hit post comment: “Asking President Obama why his policies have not been able to reduce unemployment below 8% is a legitimate question that is based on facts that I am sure he is capable of explaining. But, asking President Obama, based on the false allegation, that he increased the national debt by 60% is an illegitimate question. No matter how well President Obama answers such illegitimate question, the fact that a reputable journalist asked it gives the false allegation the imprimatur of legitimacy in the minds of many Americans.
yep, that’s what I’m talking bout
Bob, I think it also means that the 47 percent are free to drop dead from starvation, die from lack of health care, or become fatally ill from exposure due to lack of housing. These are the things that we silly constrained people feel a sense of entitlement about. We would be free to forage, free from doctors, free from ever thinking about rents or mortgages. Wouldn’t that be grand!
Here’s the bombshell in the New York Times article referred to in Bobfr tweet “The trust also invested in derivative securities linked to the Japanese stock market and to an index that includes stocks in every major country except the United States. It invested in a derivative that would profit if the dollar fell against a group of foreign currencies.” [and] “The Romney family trusts invested around the world. It also owned shares in Credit Suisse, the Swiss bank; FLSmidth, a Danish machinery company; Arcelormittal, a steel company based in Luxembourg with operations around the world, and Komatsu, a Japanese machinery company. All those investments were sold on Aug. 10, the day before a Republican debate in Iowa.”
MITTNOCCHIO is unbelievable. Is a Mormon Bishop and is without a moral compass.
I watched the 60 minutes interview with both Romney and Pres. Obama and I have to say, Scott Pelley did a really good job of making Romney own his BS and calling him out on his nonsense. He was fairly tough. Romney was uncomfortable, came off as whiny, didn’t give any specifics and overall, he came off really bad in the interview. He basically confirmed that he and Ryan’s healthcare program is voucher care, that they will give seniors a cheque and send them off to buy healthcare in the private market. He said that it’s right for him to pay 14% because job creators like him should be rewarded for the investments they make in this country and when he becomes president (LMAO) he’ll keep it that way. At certain times in the interview, Romney was pretty much one second away from yelling STOP IT! THIS IS HARD! Just like Ann.
Steve Kroft did a good job. He was tough, came with some GOP talking points but overall, he was fair. I think that’s why Pres. Obama likes to sit down with him. Pres. Obama was great. He was able to outline his vision for a second term, outline what this election is about, outline his successes and the mess that the GOP has thrown against him. He wasn’t whiny. He took responsibility for his policies, etc.
p.s. Romney had a very weird dark tan as though he was still pandering to the Hispanic community. It was insulting.
Maybe he’s been sunning himself in La Jolla. In our socialist hellhole of California.
Are you feeling a bit better, LL, or is the ‘cold’ getting worse?
Take care, friend!
You know, I was okay for most of the day, but as it goes to night my sinuses are starting to bother me. We’ll see how I wake up in the morning. Thanks!
Hope you’re able to rest well, LL. And, thank you again for that excellent, quite touching essay on the #47Percent
thanks so much. It was a hoot to write. Mockery is the only thing that Mitt and the GOP merit.
Hmmmm . . . maybe mittnocchio was trying to pass for a “colored man.”
Didn’t Romney say again .. well that is Ryan’s plan and I am running for President, not Ryan. But one of the criteria for selecting a VP candidate is to choose someone who shares your vision and that of your Party such that if something happens to you, they will be sworn in as President. To choose Ryan then separate yourself totally from his philosophies is not such a great idea.
Besides, the Chair of NRC today cited the Ryan budget as the example of specific policies the Romney/Ryan team is offering? Romney himself praised the Ryan Budget. Why didn’t the interviewer follow up on what Romney said about the Ryan budget?
Exactly what I was trying to convey. You did it ever so more eloquently than I.
Ye gads! How am I going to get through the debates when it was all I could manage to get through 60 minutes?!
Now I’m angry all over again at the dufus moderators who went after PBO four Yeats ago about flag pins….
Yup.
HOLY MOLY! THEY ARE WAKING UP??? http://www.democraticunderground.com/1014242460
The Wheels Fall Off for Romney as Obama Leads with NASCAR Fans, 48%-41%
Yep, df, it’s all over twitter 🙂
amazing:)
Too bad there are more fans than owners, Mittiful may have done better.
This is wonderful news Df. Nascar fans? Who woulda thunk? 🙂 🙂 🙂
What really gets me, Pelley asked Willard who’s responsible for the discord in Washington and Wiklard said PBO, as “the buck stops with him and I’m sure he’d agree with that.” Then that ass Kroft asked PBO if he’s not responsible for the disaster that is Washington and PBO, basically said that as president, ultimately he has responsibility for everything (I think he meant in a general sense.) but that’s such bs and it really pisses me off that repukes can basically rewrite history with no punative measures. How comes PBO gets blamed for republican irresponsibility and mean spiritedness? How’s he supposed to take responsibility for their strategy to make him a one term president. Kroft was a huge asshole and I hope he retires soon.
I am sure PBO does not want to sound whiny or like he is making excuses. I wish there was a simple way to put the blame where it needs to be and still sound tough. It takes two to tango keeps coming up for me on working together. The GOP refuse to dance. There has to be a better line than that though.
This is the moment Romney shot himself in the foot on 60 Minutes and the Democrats are going to bury him with it hopefully.
Thank you, ut, for the link …
… others being messaged, now ….
#FORWARD
He blinks like a liar…. Someone who is hoping to sound intelligent…..
Excellent catch, Pamela.
how many feet does Romney have? If they’re not riddled with bullets, they’re in his mouth…which then begs the question, how many mouths does he have also?
Which businesses did Romney start with his 14% tax rate? Which investments did he make that created jobs in the US? If their argument is that the lower tax rate is ultimately good for the US economy, then they should be required to name the businesses they started and the jobs they created while they paid less than their fair share. Rafalca doesn’t count.
I agree Theo. Mitt is the worst spokesman for the argument that low taxes for the rich will spur investment and jobs in America because he keeps the money he saves on taxes in foreign bank accounts, which does NOTHING to help the U.S. economy. Mitt is a proponent of “trickle down” economics which history has shown does not work and results only in rising income inequality and concentration of wealth at the top.
egg.cellent.

Yikes, they beat me to it, so I will donate first thing in the morning to cover tomorrow! 🙂
Excellent!
Thanks Pamela.
{{{{DD4O}}}} my pleasure!
i won’t link to the huffypuffy site, but right now their front page headline is huge red bold type, ‘ROMNEY: MY TAX RATE IS A-OK’. with a big angry photo of him just beneath.
Will the Emmy people STOP giving the Emmy to Jon Stewart?!? Colbert is a billion times more brilliant and entertaining. Even Jimmy Fallon’s show is more entertaining and more worthy. Not that it matters, but completely undeserved—–again.
Total agreement. Stewrat is no good.
I totally agree – 100%!!!
I know PBO can stand up to tough questioning but I also think how a question is worded does matter as well as
the tone in which it is asked. Steve Croft aggressively asserting that the debt increased significantly under President Obama,
is an illustration of this. Wrong tone, poorly worded questions and fact-free to boot.
Thank you so much, Hope. This is what I’m talking ’bout.
You are welcome Lisa. Will not tolerate the disrespect.
Please see my comments, Lisa. I totally agree with you!
Exactly, Hope44! I said basically the same thing be fore I read your comment.

i would not want that child to take the fall for the hideous rethug lies and manipulations. please don’t make this viral without obscuring her face!
See below. If you have to be 18 years old…she’s no longer a child.
Although that I don’t disagree about shading her face…it’s not the girl that’s the issue…it’s the fraud.
exactly.
And it’s all about the people who put her up to it! You see when Republicans talk about voter fraud, they are usually projecting their own behavior.
And then there’s this: Though when I clicked the link, it said it has been flagged for removal. No shit.

that was so powerful
That picture is so symbolic in so many ways. The picture of President Lincoln overseaing the meeting of a little African American child whose health is such she’s on a “make-a-wish” list to meet the first African American President that without the bravery and love of this country by President Lincoln there would not be a President Obama or this moment.
Mitt Romney also provided this gem on 60 minutes.
Romney has given out all these gems on a Sunday, in front of millions. We usually have to wait for the start of the work week before his foot hits his mouth, so he’s moving up the schedule. And now it’s not just a talk at a private reception. He’s saying all these stupid things about taxes and health care out in front of everyone on national tv. Why is this clueless man running for any office, let alone president?
So true, Jackie, so true.
And, he also trashed all his apologists who were whining at David Corn, a mere 7 days ago, about lack of ‘context’ – he just provided all the context we need, real time, broadcast, internationally and archived for posterity by 60 Minutes.
This is First weekly address of the President….keep in mind…on the night of the President’s inauguration…the GOP were not planning to join with PBO to keep us from going over the cliff…from going into a depression..no their priority had nothing to do with the american People….their priority was to block this President on everything even at the cost of country…
My President looked so young in this video 🙂
Those who say the President didn’t focus on jobs should watch this. A week after his inauguration, he was already proposing a stimulus to jump start the economy. The prior president had just wound down the clock. And all but three members of the GOP voted against this measure to stop the country from falling into depression. It’s shocking!
Interesting little read. Bet Bob could make a Tweet:)

And did you know this?
The Mormon church also spends a lot of money on building grand edifices that non-Mormons are not allowed in. (That rule is so ironclad that even Ann Romney’s non-Mormon parents were not allowed to attend her wedding with Mitt.)
df, when it comes to his Mormon stuff, I leave it to others. I have to shower my brain several times a day as it is because of the wretchedness of Prince and Princess Romney that I just can’t get dirty my brain more with their Mormon scam.
#PRESSON
I would love to see him become Governor and lead the way for Texas to be run by a majority of Democrats.
Wait a couple more years. Texas is already majority minority. Just gotta get as many people registered as we can.
Boy am I out of touch. Didn’t realize the Emmys were on tonight.
Donna Brazile tweeted congrats to “Game Change” for winning the Emmy for Outstanding Movie Series
The West Coasters just got through watching the 60 Minutes on President Obama and Candidate Romney. I must say that I am with most everyone that Steve Croft used all GOP talking points and President Obama swatted them away very well…he did a great job. I will have to watch the Robme portion because he is so hard to stomach I tuned out while I was blogging here.
Jojothecat, It’s the fact that a supposedly reputable journalists used “all GOP talking points” as though they were objective facts that disturbed me greatly! President Obama, as always did a great job, despite the false premises of Kraft’s questions. My problem is that Kraft’s questions, based on false premises, are being accepted as legitimate tough questions. One question that I particularly resented was Kroft’s claim that President Obama increased the debt by 60%. That is plainly false. Journalist Steve Croft must not be allowed to get away free without consequences when he asks questions that are based on false premises or erroneous facts!
Per UT: Pres. Obama’s favorite show Homeland wins big tonight.
Yep, the good ol’ ER! I was last in there the day before PBO Inauguration, kidney stone. The bill came to $7,000.00, for 7 hours. It takes me a very long time to earn $7000.00. Maybe next time I can send the bill to Myth?
Fortunately we have good insurance, but I just payed our $50 copay for the last time that the wife was in the ER. The total bill was $6K. It’s ridiculous.
Yes Pamela, we can all send our ER and follow-up medical bills to Mitt. 1 Cayman account should be able to take care of these bills.
Well, my sinuses give me every indication that I’m going to be knocked out with a cold this week. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if I wake up okay tomorrow. But, at any rate, here’s tonight’s menu:
Marinated flank steak, broiled on high, 7 minutes a side to make it a perfect medium with a wonderful charred crust
Baked potato, smothered in butter, with garlic salt and cracked black pepper
Side salad
All washed down with a very good Spanish tempranillo
I again reminded wifey how lucky she is.
Our remedy is to take 3-4,000 milligrams of vitamin C in the morning & at night. This works for us, but only if we do it as soon as we feel a cold coming on. My colds always start with a scratchy throat. Once the cold has set in C does not help.
That’s what I should’ve done last night and this morning. Right now my sinuses are squeezing my head, so I think it may be a tad too late.
My sister has a concoction that we all swear by: a pinch of cayenne pepper, teaspoon of manuka honey, splash of lemon, tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. If you can stand a little garlic in there, too, even better. A quick shot of that concoction will sort you out very quickly – even if only because you don’t want to have to take any more of the mixture! Feel better.
My husband and I are both sick and I HAVE to go to work today. I’ve had a killer sinus headache for five days. Nothing helps.
Forgot to say I hope you feel better!
those of us with either no insurance or junk insurance who own a small bungalow — no ER is free unless we want to lose our home. Wages are garnished. YOU ARE BILLED at that full rate and that bill haunts you. We don’t want ‘free’ care, we want affordable care and access to that care. We want to pay a reasonable amount for health care. It’s outrageous.
My friend with insurance got an MRI for her sinus headaches yet there are people who can’t afford to see a doctor. How is ‘freedom’ to get as much out of the system as possible while making health care impossible for those without insurance reasonable? Why is ‘freedom’ more important than ‘fairness’?
Game Change won the Emmy for Outstanding Mini-Series which was well deserved IMO. Julianne Moore won for Best Lead Actress in her role of Sarah Palin. Julianne accepted the award saying: “I feel so validated because Sarah Palin gave me a big thumbs down”.
In your face Ms. Palin 🙂
Good Nite TOD!
Tomorrow we PressOn
🙂
I love it!
Also, too – what were you thinking with John McCain – sure wasn’t your brain.
From what I am hearing on this blog and reading in HuffPost, Romney provided some stupid comments e.g.1) the 47% comment is him and not his campaign. Does he realise that it is he running for the presidency? 2) the emergency room = Universal health care. Why did he do Romneycare then? 3) It is fair for his tax rate and the tax rate of someone working for $50,000 to be the same and 4) POTUS challenged him to say whether he wants another war. I have not seen any adverse comments based on what POTUS’s interview.
Yup, I had the same Romneycare question. If the ER is good enough, then why did he do Romneycare? He’s a fool.
I am hearing that Repubs are complaining that PBO was insensitive to the 4 killed in the recent embassy takeover with his comments Sunday of always expecting a bump in the road. The GOP inferred PBO thinks killing 4 people is an insignificant bump in the road.
Back from Camp Obama and really tired, but super excited that 50+ new people showed up, all eager and willing to help. Woo hoo!!
And, Mitt Romney referred to the myth of the 2 year supermajority again, with no pushback! My pet peeve!!
Wherein Mitt Romney shows how clueless he really is:
Rita, it will definitely affect current seniors. Because of Obamacare I was able to get annual check-ups free of charge. Also this year, I paid less than half for my asthma medicine. On top of that, my premium for my senior supplemental insurance went down over $50 dollars a month this year. There is absolutely no doubt that repealing Obama Care will drastically, and negatively, affect current seniors.
Exactly. And because Medicare Advantage plans don’t want current recipients to switch to the much improved regular Medicare, they are upping their benefits and cutting their premiums. ALL SENIORS are winning because of ACA.
Freedom from having to care about your fellow citizens. Mitt’s whole platform is based on selfishness. heartlessness and greed.
How far you can get being dumb when you come from privilege & money.
Paul Abrams of HuffPost is asking everyone to write to returns@mittromney.com to enquire whether Romney got amnesty. He believes that if the campaign gets many letters they will be forced to answer the question. If he says no, then he can be asked to allow the IRS Commissioner to verify that this is true.
Conflicting reports here on the PBO’s 60 minutes interview with kroft went.
They agreed on the fact that our PBO was brilliant and presidential, s that’s good.
Indeed.
The questions were as if they were written by Repubs and the Romney campaign, but PBO’s answers were excellent.
My husband commented on how there was actually a ton of great information from PBO. He’s starting to believe an idea that I saw posted here yesterday: LET them ask the awful questions. The frame is frankly what the ‘undecideds’ is hearing so it’s okay if he answers as well as he does.
We get protective. We get upset because every other President has been fawned over and coddled by the press and it pisses us off. Sure I would like to have the press acknowledge, to PBO’s face, all that he has accomplished and all of the obstruction that has hurt the country in order to try to defeat him. But I’m ready to make some lemonade here — our President’s answers are excellent.
Thanks Betsy and 57f.
Exactly!

We shall see what Mitt does October 3rd. I don’t think President Obama is shaking in his boots.
Kind of like Mitt came down on the 47% of Americans before the millionaires and billionaires.
what a puke!
so one of his supporters says, mitt, i’m a union guy and we support you here, but we need some facts, some specifics about your plans for medicare and so on. and then myth, the puke, tells the guy how to purchase his book, which enumerates his ideas. unbelievable! here’s a supporter who’s taken the trouble to engage with him directly, and myth refuses to talk to him, and basically says you have to pay for that information.
how can it be possible that he still has even one supporter?
He has more than one supporter because Barack Obama is a black man. And alot of Mitt supporters don’t like that.
so true. it also occurs to me that myth is treating the presidential race like a regular speaking tour, where you give vague, teaser concepts but reserve the details for your book, because you’re really only touring and speaking to sell your book.
Folks have probably alread posted this video, but for those who missed it
First OFA TV Ad about the 47% comment
On a scale of one to ten, I give the ad a ten.
Great ad.
Yup. It was short, sweet and succinct.
Thank you very much, Linda, for posting it. Had not seen it.
HEY, HEY, HEY, Mitt is going to have a very bad Monday.. Especially on MSNBC with Martin Bashir, Rev. Al, Chris Matthews, Ed show, Rachel Maddow, and my with my buddy Lawrence… Boy oh boy, I can’t wait to get home from work….
How great God is. these comments were taped before the secret tape of his real self was revealed..
Those bastards must be working overtime to spin the Er comment, the $50,000 comment, basically eat cat food old ladies because you too dependent, and if you want another War coward mitt say it bitch.
I am up and can’t stop writing because twitter is on fire especially with all the political folks time line’s I have bookmarked. The key to Willard’s campaign is that if we are talking about him and his fuck ups then his bamboozle message can’t break through. Well his secret tape, bamboozled tax returns, and his fucked up interview on 60 minutes will be the talk on Monday.
The latest DNC bomb on mittbot. Love the new democratic party under the skinny guy.
That’s pretty brutal. For once the media is finally going after candidate Romney the same way they went after Candidate Obama in ’08.
sorry, myth–when the sweet grannies don’t like you, it’s over.
‘ Even before his running mate was booed by a lobbying group for older Americans on Friday, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was losing support among such voters, whose backing is crucial to his hopes of winning the November 6 election.
New polling by Reuters/Ipsos indicates that during the past two weeks – since just after the Democratic National Convention – support for Romney among Americans age 60 and older has crumbled, from a 20-point lead over Democratic President Barack Obama to less than 4 points. ‘
