    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-09-11/medicaid-to-lose-1-26-trillion-under-romney-block-grant.html

Romney proposes to convert Medicaid to a fixed allotment of money from an entitlement tied to economic indicators and a state’s caseload. Payments from the federal government would grow at 1 percentage point above inflation a year, creating the funding reduction, in exchange for fewer rules on how states use the money, according to the study released yesterday.
The Medicaid proposal has drawn less attention in the campaign than Romney’s ideas for Medicare, the U.S. health plan for the elderly and disabled. The Medicaid plan could be implemented as soon as 2014 and involves more money. Romney has said Medicare beneficiaries wouldn’t face changes until 2022.
“The impact on our nation’s low-income children, people with disabilities, and seniors would be devastating,” said Bruce Lesley, president of First Focus, Washington-based group that concentrates on children’s issues, and a former aide to Senate Democrats. Losing $1.2 trillion “will eliminate coverage for millions of people, reduce access to necessary care and create a system of health rationing.”

As I understand it after a seniors money runs out for paying for a nursing center they can continue under Medicaid. If that changed many would not qualify. Many cannot afford Long Term Care insurance on top of Medical Insurance so guess that option would be gone and seniors would be out in the street when their own savings was gone.

The election is hardly 50 days away. Shall we concentrate on meaningful things like how to GOTV, fundraise, volunteer, spread the message etc. instead of freaking out over what is spewed every day in the cable noise thereby giving them importance which they don’t deserve at all ?

Great idea, it’s too easy to get wrapped up in the negative. PBO says our direction is FORWARD, not worrying about Mitt and his backward thinking, nor those in the MSM who go along with it. We give them way too much control of our feelings and mission.

egg.sack.lee. Their motivation is to demotivate us. Let’s not fall for that and do the real hard work that counts in the real world. morons like joe blow, toady etc. can hardly swing a vote for the right but they can distract us easily with their faux poutrage, lies etc., which they are paid to do.

Moving this over from the last thread:

Good Morning TOD! Busy with twitter rebuttals already!

Reince Prober is trying to claim Dem supermajority for two years… again! My rebuttal below, which I also tweeted to news orgs. Spread the word because this is a myth that a lot of people, including Dems, believe.

Chips – I just donated to PBO through you (at least I think I did). Initially the site said my address was wrong, then I corrected to my new address, then it said I already donated a few minutes ago. Can you check and see if a donation went through?

          September 17, 2012 at 1:24 pm

DF, you, and I are OBots for sure. I still laughing at myself for automatically recognizing the slap count.

Thanks for the get well wishes. Hell of a week to be down. I hosted a day of action this past Saturday. This week I have a ton of tax work, a Dem meeting, a municipal budget meeting, planning for the Oct 6 GOTV rehersal, and packing. I’m headed to Barcelona on Sunday for a jazz cruise; as my house is a staging location, I need to get it set up before I go.

          • September 17, 2012 at 1:27 pm

Podium-slap-counters of the world unite! Wow, Barcelona – what a fantastic trip, what an amazing city. Hope you’re hale and hearty by then Alycee, I’m sure you will be – just look after yourself 😉

WOW! You are busy, busy, busy! That jazz cruise should make you feel better though:) Jazz makes everything better! I am an OBot…I am not ashamed! Feel better:) If it makes you feel so “not alone” I’m nursing my broken foot, broken toe..whatever it is I managed to give myself. Walking around with a big boot on my foot….I had such plans for my 3 days off work….

  19. September 17, 2012 at 1:03 pm

One thing that is different between now and 08, they only play 5-10 minutes of the Rallies or speeches.
This is so the Pundits can talk and set the narrative. In 08, the President went around the media, this makes it tougher to get the message out, if they are cutting Him off.

  20. September 17, 2012 at 1:04 pm

Okay, this is getting serious: three podium slaps 😎

CNN cut the sound as soon as Springsteen started playing at the end of Obama’s speech. Don’t like to hear “We take care of our own”? Not fans of the Boss? Not fans of Obama supporters reaching out for a handshake? hmmmmm.

  30. September 17, 2012 at 1:13 pm

Our Prez has really tightened up his speech over time . I loved what I heard today with him enumerating point by point
what his plans are. This is so unlike R&R with their vague outline and no ARITHMETIC. PBO’s speech is lean and clean with MATH included.

He let the mittbot hog all the silly season before labor day while letting the ads frame willard all the time and then started his real campaign now.

  31. September 17, 2012 at 1:14 pm

I guess if you have an I-Phone, like me, you will not be able to watch the Rallies?
As the MSM cuts Him off in mid sentence, to go to a Pundit that tells us absolutely nothing!
    LOL!

  32. September 17, 2012 at 1:14 pm

A moment of exceptional oratorical beauty ….

“Now, I understand my opponent has been running around Ohio claiming he’s going to roll up his sleeves and take the fight to China,” Obama will say in Cincinatti, according to prepared remarks. “But here’s the thing: His experience has been owning companies that were called ‘pioneers’ in the business of outsourcing jobs to countries like China. Pioneers! Ohio, you can’t stand up to China when all you’ve done is send them our jobs.”

They’re obsessed with him. They whine and moan yet can’t help wagging their tails every time his name is mentioned.

  38. September 17, 2012 at 1:40 pm

LOL! I just saw MM on CNN, at the Occupy movement anniversary.
He said, a movement starts with just a few People.
Good, because that ALL their was, a few People…

    http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/09/17/857861/study-tax-cuts-rich-no-growth/

There is not conclusive evidence, however, to substantiate a clear relationship between the 65-year steady reduction in the top tax rates and economic growth. Analysis of such data suggests the reduction in the top tax rates have had little association with saving, investment, or productivity growth. However, the top tax rate reductions appear to be associated with the increasing concentration of income at the top of the income distribution.

It was a ruse…to allow the rich to get richer, gain power, and screw you. Surprise!
