‘You Are The Reason’

13 is an unlucky number? Huh! It’s magical: Some of us were born on the 13th πŸ˜•

Okay, I’m not going to be sloppy about this ….. promise ….. well ….. ish …. except to say: thank you everyone for taking the blog to another very lovely landmark, 13 million hits, this journey with you all has been pretty damn delightful and amazing. Genuine and endless thanks to you all for keeping me company along the way, and for being forgiving about the occasional meltdown. 😳

****

I think – hope – you know by now I hate mentioning the money word ….. but if you have a spare $13, it would be completely sweet if you could donate to any of these TOD fundraisers, just to mark the, ah, historic occasion:

a4alice * Alycee * BWD * CollegeKay * Cookemom * DonnaDem4Obama

Hgerhard * HZ * Judith Fardig * Mae Who Love Our CIC

Marlz * Meta * Pamela *prettyfoot58 * proudmemberofglobalzero * Rita * Theo67 * The Obama Diary

****

And if you have anything left over, you could donate to some of the Democratic candidates trying to win back Congress …. which would make PBO’s second term even more perfect:

Like Elizabeth Warren

If there are any other candidates you’d like to promote, please link them in the comments. Thanks.

Thanks again everyone.

The topline: The long-awaited report on how the Obama administration would implement sequestration will be released Friday, White House press secretary Jay Carney said Thursday.

Congress passed a law requiring the report in July, but the White House missed the deadline that was set for last week. The report is supposed to explain how the across-the-board cuts to sequestration would be implemented for both defense and non-defense spending. In the 2013, the cuts would total $109 billion.

The report could shed more light on sequestration for defense contractors, who complained in letters to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) released this week that the uncertainty surrounding sequestration was hurting their bottom line.

Congratulations, Chips. The space you created here has kept us sane, given us joy, lifted us up on dark days and given us a family to come home to at the end of a busy day supporting our president. It takes a very special person to create a place like this. There aren’t enough words to thank you for what you’ve done here.

SCARBOROUGH ON MITT ROMNEY: “HE’S NEITHER A TRUE CONSERVATIVE

———————————-NOR A COURAGEOUS MODERATE. HE’S JUST AN AMBITIOUS MAN.

    Joe Scarborough eviscerates Mitt Romney

    by Bonsai66

    ———————————-

Ahhh. The long knives have now been unsheathed.

And the lesson is clear: If we want to win the battle of ideas in the long term, we should be willing to face the fact that Mitt Romney is likely to lose β€” and should, given that he’s neither a true conservative nor a courageous moderate. He’s just an ambitious man.

    To sum up…

Instead, we have a nominee who represents the worst of both worlds. Any swing voter attracted by moderate Republicanism can’t vote for a man who ran away from his core convictions. And conservative voters don’t believe Romney has any core convictions. This has all the makings of a Greek tragedy, all playing out on C-SPAN.

Well, I guess that there is something that conservatives and liberals can finally agree on: We don’t think that Mitt Romney has any core convictions either.

      September 14, 2012 at 3:43 am

But if you read Joe S’s opinion piece in Politico he has no kind words for our President. He ends with this in his piece:

…” the tragedy for Republicans is that the opportunity is still great.
Barack Obama’s acceptance speech in Charlotte exposed him as an intellectually exhausted politician. The man who brought Hope and Change to the Democratic National Convention four years ago exposed himself in Charlotte as a guy who has no new ideas and no clue where he wants to take the country over the next four years. Obama is now reduced to mindlessly repeating the same tired lines he trotted out on the campaign trail in 2008. He had somehow morphed from the political equivalent of a young Elvis rocking Mile High Stadium four years ago to becoming the fat, sweaty singer who haunted Vegas showrooms in the months before he before his most inglorious expiration in the summer of 1977.
But that aging rock star will win this campaign going away if Romney keeps playing it safe. That is a terrible waste for Republicans, an ominous sign for a country in desperate need of new leadership, and more than enough reason for me to stop bothering to tweet on Saturday nights.”

George Badey is challenger for PA-07 — the most gerrymandered dist in PA (maybe even in the US); cover 5 counties and looks like an ink blot. The rethug state legislators really had to work hard to carve out this district. Meehan (freshman — won Joe Sestak’s open seat) is a weak ass undercover teabagger, has big money advantage, however, as PBO should win my district, I’m praying that George can hang on to his coattails. George is a good candidate and fully supports President Obama.

    YES WE CAN.

Obama Sets Big-Ticket L.A. Fundraiser for Oct. 7

“This will be a large scale event” at the Nokia Theater, says an email to supporters. A $40,000-per-couple dinner, hosted by Jeffrey Katzenberg, will be held nearby.

President Barack Obama will return to Los Angeles for a concert fundraiser at the Nokia Theater on October 7, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The campaign stop will also include a high-dollar dinner — at $40,000 per couple — in downtown Los Angeles, according to a campaign email obtained by THR.

“The exact details for the concert are still being confirmed, but this will be a large scale event with multiple performers and speakers preceding the President’s remarks,” according to an email sent to Los Angeles donors Thursday. “As we begin to confirm the talent and details, we will make the information known to all of you.”

The concert and dinner have been in the works for weeks, sources say, with Jeffrey Katzenberg spearheading the dinner. Harvey Weinstein is said to be working on a similar fundraiser in New York City.

Tickets to the concert are expected to be available through Ticketmaster starting early next week.

According to the campaign email, the price points for the concert are as follows:

$44 per person – Gen44 (Young Professionals, limited availability)
$250 per person – General Admission
$1,000 per person – General Admission, better seating
$5,000 per person – VIP access (to lounge area and preferred seating)
$10,000 per person – Photo and VIP access.

  54. September 14, 2012 at 2:45 am

Hi Chips, When you see this hope you have had a restful and very happy night after all you have accomplished.

On Friday, 14 Sept, I will begin a concerted, focused, unrelenting Twitter effort to tie #BainMitt to various House & Senate candidates by mocking each of those candidates that their leader is so toxic to their campaigns that don’t even want his name mentioned. The tweets will evolve to include #GWB as being similarly toxic. Just wanted to give all of you a heads up as to what you can expect, so here’s a little taste …

Beginning in earnest in the next 24 h πŸ™‚

    #PRESSON

Good for you, Bob, You are, as always, the general leading the charge in the war against the poisonous lies of the GOP.

How bad is Mitt Romney as a candidate? This bad:

“One of the Republican appointees to the Electoral College abruptly resigned from her post Thursday after publicly questioning whether she would support the party’s presidential ticket when casting official votes after the November election.

Melinda Wadsley of Ames, Iowa, told The Associated Press that she could not in good conscience vote for party nominee Mitt Romney. Wadsley was among three electors who had told the AP for a story published Thursday that they were exploring alternatives should Romney win their states.”

    http://wapo.st/Om3X9W

Not since 1896 have their been multiple defections of electors against their party’s candidate.

When you’re losing the Electoral College, it doesn’t get much worse than that.

Chesterfield Elementary School rejects Michelle Obama request to speak there-

    http://www2.timesdispatch.com/news/2012/sep/14/tdmet04-chesterfield-rejects-michelle-obamas-bid-t-ar-2204381/

Last week, UVA rejected the President from speaking there. Then, you have various Republucan Cities, one in NH and the other San Diego, charging the President for Police Security.
    This is coordinated, no question!

The first time she voted in her life was for Obama. “I loved being part of that decision-making process, but I never voted in prior years when I was legally eligible. I don’t know why.” She is, she says, a “liberal Republican”, put off [by] Mitt Romney because of his stance against gay marriage. This election, she says, “I don’t know which way I’m going to go.”

Iowa GOP elector says conscience won’t allow her to vote for Romney, resigns her appointment

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/in-iowa-gop-elector-who-backed-ron-paul-resigns-after-saying-she-might-not-vote-for-romney/2012/09/13/a53fc30c-fe05-11e1-98c6-ec0a0a93f8eb_story.html

Here is a comment from the article:
I wish you’d reconsider. I’m not sure I like Gary Johnson either but that’s not the point. Some states won’t give Ron Paul credit for a write in, so in some cases it will not count. And what we really need right now is to show the Republicans that they cannot win without us. So if we split our numbers between Ron, Gary and Obama (some RP supporters are so mad they want to vote for him) our true numbers/power will not show through. If we can have a good showing maybe next time Republicans will be a little more prepared to meet us in the middle. Show them we will not give them our vote while sitting down and shutting up any more.

While we do this continue to grow our base by preaching liberty to the new generation who really hate all the government intrusion, debt and wars.

We don’t have and won’t have for awhile, the numbers to get anything done by ourselves. But we can show republican that if they are not willing to work with us they won’t get anything done either.

    Support the libertarian Movement

    Honor Ron Paul

    Vote Johnson

Mr. Obama leads his Republican rival across all ages of voters, except those who are 65 or older, who favor Mr. Romney by 15 percentage points.

What way to rush your own deaths.

Gregory and Todd are on Romney Rescue Mission on the Today Show again. They’re saying that Romney was just trying to “separate” himself from the Obama campaign with his political comments after news of the deaths in Libya, that Romney said if he was president there would be no unrest in the Middle East (wow), and that Romney is planning a “major foreign policy speech” to make clear the differences he has with the Obama admin. The only positive for PBO was the dutiful reporting of the poll numbers in Fl, Oh and Va, which pretty much made the rest their spin sound really weak and desperate.

CONGRATULATIONS on 13 million, Chips. Thank you for all you do for us. You are loved!
