WTF is wrong with twitter. Seriously is anyone experiencing this? Response sorely needed. When one tweets and your tweet gets sent, it refreshes the page and your tweet becomes the first tweet on the page. That’s the normal twitter way. Now, when I tweet, it doesn’t automatically refresh the page. I have to scroll all the way up to click on where it says “20 New Tweets or 30 New Tweets” to see the new tweets that popped up while I was composing my own tweet. Then I have to click again “20 New Tweets” to be able to see my tweet.

This crap began today and I want to know if anyone else is experiencing this because it’s pissing me the fuck off.

    • September 12, 2012 at 8:16 pm

Only use Twitter, occasionally, to compose tweets but never use it to track tweets – only use TweetDeck for that.

        September 12, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Thanks Bob. Can you explain what TweetDeck is exactly?

        • September 12, 2012 at 8:31 pm

It’s a software app that integrates with Twitter and provides you a way to view multiple columns of tweets (depending on the size of your monitor) effortlessly, or on a touch screen smartphone (e.g., iPhone) you can have multiple columns and you just flip between them.

As a ‘deck’ on a good size monitor you can have a feed of Tweets from “All Friends” & a feed of “Mentions” & a feed of “DMs” etc, all vertically oriented and in view simultaneously.

I run it in the background of other apps, including browser with multiple tabs, as the only way I can possibly try to keep an eye on stuff while doing my ‘day job’ 🙂

    • September 12, 2012 at 8:22 pm

I’m with BobFR; Tweetdeck user here.

I only use Twitter to send shortened URLS with the source visible (e.g., NYT, LAT, etc.) instead of the “bit.ly” shorted URL.

But Twitter seemed OK for me today (sent a couple of tweets and the page auto-refreshed).

        September 12, 2012 at 8:25 pm

Thanks for the feedback. I’ve never used TweetDeck. Can you explain in detail how it works?

        • September 12, 2012 at 8:39 pm

Tweetdeck allows you to see different windows at the same time. Things like the feed you’re reading, mentions, certain people’s timelines. I love it.

        • September 12, 2012 at 8:50 pm

I’m just about the least technical person around, and found Tweetdeck easy to install and use.

It’s never failed to auto-refresh for me.

The best Tweetdeck feature is the separate columns you can set up for specific users (who tweet a lot) or a separate column for a Twitter List or Group. The only downside is the time it takes to set up Twitter groups/lists (if you haven’t already done so).

Just download it from Tweetdeck.com (which will give you the option of selecting your computer OS or mobile app).

          Happy tweetdecking to you.

    • September 12, 2012 at 8:25 pm

I just tested it and it automatically refreshed when I tweeted. I’m not sure why but Twitter tends to have glitches for different users at different times..I can see why you would be frustrated.

O/T: Not totally, but somewhat. Ed has been doing his radio show lying on the floor. He said, “I surrender.” Guess he is having back surgery. I heard him say he will not be on radio next two days. He didn’t say anything about tonight, but obviously we have the answer. YUCK!!! Anyway, feel sorry for him…….dealing with horrible back pain and Wendy dealing with cancer/chemo. Lot of their plate right now.

Here’s what I suspect is going on: Romney and his camp KNOW that President Obama will win the election, so right now, they are no longer trying to win, but instead are trying to create as much difficulty, distractions and headaches for our President going into his second term. The Tea Party of 2009 was their plan and the media enabled them in that regard. Will the media enable the GOP in their dangerous games of messing with foreign policy in the Middle East? This is just a test run..they might try something during the week of election to rain on PBO’s (and our) parade.

  13. September 12, 2012 at 8:33 pm

And thanks, LisaLovesObama, for letting TOD-ites know Ezra is sitting in for Ed. Won’t bother watching tonight; I wonder if @RichardWolffeDC feels the same way? He’s on @lawrences’ show tonight instead of on Ed’s.

(Saw the thread a few weeks back re: naughty mat for Wolffe. In compete agreement — I think it’s his accent [straight female here].

      September 12, 2012 at 8:39 pm

For me It’s more than the accent (Don’t really feel naughty for Martin Bashir, and certainly not for Piers Morgan) It’s the way he thinks and expresses his thoughts, his sense of humor, etc., and of course, that he supports PBO doesn’t hurt either. 🙂 🙂

        September 12, 2012 at 8:47 pm

It’s not the accent or his looks that make him sexy to me. It’s the fact that he’s in PBO’s corner. Any guy who’s got PBO’s back is ALWAYS intensely attractive to me. I like to call it ‘The Obama Factor.” it’s why I’ve always pushed for an ‘All the President’s Men” calendar! Yowza!!!! Man oh, man!!!!  oucha, magoucha!!! :leer: 😉 hehehehe 😆

You are too funny. But agree, I do like to see enthusiastic PBO support. Especially to offset the constipated looks from @chucktodd who will also be on @lawrence’s show tonight.

One thing that drives me nuts about the hyper-MSM is that they leap on the “pointing fingers” bandwagon without really taking time to pay tribute to all of the PEOPLE who died in that horrific Benghazi attack.

Sen. Paul filibusters Senate until he gets a vote to end aid to Pakistan

    By Ramsey Cox
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is filibustering all legislation until he gets a vote on his proposal to end foreign aid to Pakistan.

“We should not be giving foreign aid to any country that is not clearly our ally,” Paul said Monday. “This must end, and this week I will renew my push for a vote on this issue, including holding up Senate business to accomplish this goal.”

The MSM pretends to “call out” Romney in other to CYA in case something bad happens or someone dies, but when they think no one’s looking, they give him a wink and a nod to continue doing exactly as he’s been doing. I’ve been checking Chuck Todd’s Twitter TL all day and it’s nothing but excuse after excuse for Romney and attempts to deflect from his outrageous cravenly acts. Chuck has been retweeting tweets from Bryon Tau about PBO’s bad optics when he had the “cheering rally” after the Aurora shooting, and tweets from Donald Rumsfeld about America being perceived as weak as reason for the attacks and how “right” Romney was in that regard.

Andrea Mitchell pretended to be upset at Romney’s behavior this afternoon, but trots out Mike Rogers, a Republican on the Intelligence comittee to make excuses for Romney while underhandedly condemning the administration for the way they relate to Nut n Yahoo. Anderson Cooper’s big question tonight is whether or not PBO responded appropriately to the attacks. WTF?!?!?

It’s sickening, the hypocrisy of the MSM. Romney is behaving the way he is because he KNOWS he will get away with it. The MSM will protect him while pretending to be “shocked” or “outraged” in order to get people off their backs.

I was so disappointed I didn’t get to see Pres Obama but I couldn’t get my body cooled. they say 8,000 in attendance but I beg to differ. I feel it was more like 12,000. Hi Forus50, THX for the tweet

I am so appalled that the narrative that’s getting media play is the Robme attack on PBO – if he had an ounce of class this would have been about the brave state department employees who worked to save their colleagues, the Libyans who died trying to defend the Consulate, those who lost their lives, etc.

      For this I condemn Robme

      • 133 forus50
        September 12, 2012 at 9:37 pm

Yes, for the families who lost loved ones yesterday it must be just appalling that their deaths are only being discussed in the same sentence as Mitt Romney’s name. But then it really isn’t any surprise as the GOP NEVER respected lives lost in Iraq or Afghanistan. It seems like a long time ago (well I guess it was) when Bush dishonored their service by cutting off all media access to those who came back in a coffin. SOOOO pisses me off still. Such callous disregard for the young men and women who lost their life in foreign lands.

Susan, I also include the media in my condemnation! Americans needed to know about the heroism of both Americans and Libyans who sacrificed to defend the U.S. Consulate. Thank you David Monroe (and thank you forus50 for sharing) for focusing on the real heroes of the horrific events that took place in Libya yesterday. I really don’t want to hear from Cheney and Rumsfeld. They are nothing to me after they led this country into war over lies. I will never forget what Rumsfeld said when, in the aftermath of U.S. invasion, people were dying in Baghdad and Iraq treasures were being looted. He glibly blamed all that on the “messy democracy.” Now this war criminal has the audacity to come out and attack President Obama.

This is the sort of thing that has our CO2 levels at the lowest since 1996:

    California Efficiency Measures a Success

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on September 4 reported that its groundbreaking energy efficiency programs resulted in savings of 5,900 gigawatt-hours of electricity in 2010-2011, enough to power more than 600,000 households for a year—the equivalent of two major power plants. In addition, the estimated savings cut carbon dioxide emissions by 3.8 million tons, the equivalent of removing more than 700,000 cars from the roads. The findings were based on utility-reported estimates.

In its 2010-2011 Energy Efficiency Annual Progress Evaluation Report, the CPUC summarized investor-owned utility implementation thus far in CPUC’s $3.1 billion 2010-2012 energy efficiency program. The report details progress toward meeting multiple statewide energy and climate policy objectives. It states that 89% of estimated energy savings reported through 2011 occurred in the commercial (55%) and residential (34%) sectors. The agricultural and industrial sectors combine to make up the remaining 12% of electric savings. Through 2011, the majority of estimated electric savings was achieved through lighting (59%), followed by process improvements (13%) and HVAC (10%).

Think about it, people…saved the same amount of energy to equal closing two power plants. That’s what I’m talkin’ about.

How sad a day for him, for so many. It would cause most of us to fold up our tent and run for the hills. He is so committed to us, to whats right.

This has to be one of those days that fits well with the quote by Lincoln that he spoke of at the convention.

  49. September 12, 2012 at 9:36 pm

President Obama, speaking on a call to volunteers in advance of his campaign event in Las Vegans, said that his reelection campaign  had registered a massive number of new voters during the week of the Democratic convention.

“Last week we registered 100,000 voters,” Obama said. “Those are some big numbers.”

In poll after poll, the Obama campaign has persistently done better among registered voters or the general adult population than likely voters — pointing an electorate that supporters the president but only tepidly. One poll even found Obama leading among unlikely voters — a major incentive for the campaign to identify likely supporters, register them to vote, and get them to turn out on election day.

It’s a political cliché — but Obama told supporters that the election was going to come down to turnout.

“There are a bunch of states where if turnout is like it was in 2010, we lose. if turnout is like it was in 2008, we win,” Obama said.

Praising volunteer efforts, Obama said that voting turnout efforts and registration drives were the most important tools in the campaign’s arsenal.

“A lot of people care deeply about the direction of our country but they’re not in the habit of voting,” Obama said. “Sometimes the rules are purposely made difficult in terms of voting and they haven’t been asked to register to vote.”

Pres. Obama was pissed off tonight in the way only he can eloquently convey that emotion. One can tell that he is disgusted by Romney and wants to crush him come November.

Me too! I want him crushed into a fine ash! I want his name to become a laughingstock. I want this election to be so brutal and painful for him that even his great great great great grand kids 10 times removed still shudder at the thought of running for public office. I want him finished. NO MERCY!!!!!
Ps- never knew I was so blood thirsty. Hmmm……

I would like to see all Republicans crushed. In addition to Romney, I pray that both Eric cantor and Paul Ryan are defeated. I want Liz Warren to win back Teddy’s Senate seat in MA. I am praying to all the Gods that Kyl’s Arizona seat is won by the Doctor. I want to go to bed on Nov. 6 knowing that the Democrats have taken back the U.S. House of Rep., retained their majority in the U.S. Senate, and re-elected our great President and Vice-President, Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

DF this is awesome sauce! Wish someone could make a really coherent pictogram of it and tweet the heck out of it. SHAME on the media for it’s unrelenting distortions about 2 years of control – and for not calling out the repugs when they repeat the lie.

Nite all…I’m beat. Thanks as always for this blessed haven.

LL, you are not alone in your skepticism about the MSM’s so-called “outrage” at Romney. (See my comments upthread). They are playing games. On one hand they pretend to be upset about what Romney did in order to cover their asses and get people off their backs in case more retaliation and loss of life ensue. On the other hand (their TRUE hand), they give a wink and a nod to Romney and a closed-door promise to keep defending and enabling his outrageous behavior for as long as it creates a headache for our President, and brings ratings to their networks.

You are absolutely right LL! In this tragic situation, the media realized that they could not cover for Romney’s idiocy without loosing their total credibility. In support of the truth of your observation, some media people are already trying to provide cover for Romney’s despicable statements.

Ok, Chips, you need to get tonight’s event up ASAP. We need to tweet the hell out of it.

Agree, LL. And it will be extra special bootlicking to make up for their “lapse” today when just a moment of honest emotion on their part came through.

        September 12, 2012 at 10:12 pm

I don’t even believe that their emotion today was honest. It was designed to cover their arses and get people off their backs. They’ve already started the bootlicking and that is not consistent with people who are genuinely outraged.

I hear ya, LL. I am pissed off at the media as much as I am pissed off at Mitt Romney and the GOP. That donkey, Andrea Mitchell had the audacity to sit on Maddow’s show and equate the Obama administration’s release of statement after the attacks with Mitt Romney’s opportunistic, disgusting vile political play yesterday. And Maddow just let her spew on and on with zero pushback.
