4:50: President Obama delivers remarks at a campaign event at West Palm Beach County Convention Center
****
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother!
President Barack Obama holds on as he is hugged and picked up by Scott Van Duzer at Big Apple Pizza and Pasta Italian Restaurant in Fort Pierce, Florida, September 9
USA Today: President Obama gets his share of effusive supporters. But in what is likely a first for the 44th president, he got a bear hug.
… he stopped by the Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce and met with the owner Scott Van Duzer.
“Scott, what’s going on man,” Obama shouted to Van Duzer as he came through the door. “Scott, let me tell you, you are like the biggest pizza shop owner I’ve ever seen.”
The president then approached Van Duzer, 46, of Port St. Lucie, who stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 260 pounds. “Everybody look at these guns,” Obama said, pointing to Van Duzer’s muscles. “If I eat your pizza will I look like that?”
The two men laughed. They embraced, and Van Duzer lifted Obama about foot off the ground. “Look at that!” Obama exclaimed once back on firm ground. “Man are you a power-lifter or what?”
Obama said he decided to stop by Van Duzen’s restaurant because he had done some record-breaking work promoting blood donations in his community. He’s received commendations from the White House and U.S. Surgeon General.
“I still wonder how he got these biceps, but what we know is that the guy’s just got a big heart along with big pecs,” Obama said. “So we’re very proud of him and we just want to say thank you for all the great work.”
Politico: …. Van Duzer, who said he played basketball, football and baseball in high school, said he is a registered Republican, yet voted for Obama in 2008 and plans to do so again in November.
“I don’t vote party line, I vote who I feel comfortable with, and I do feel extremely comfortable with him,” Van Duzer said.
Of the Secret Service agents possibly flipping out over Van Duzer lifting the president of the United States, he said: “He said I was all right as long as I didn’t take him away.”

Thank you Lamh!

awesome pics Chips
Congrats lamh on sharing the #1 spot with me.
Congrats, Lamh AND Hf! 🙂
FIRST! Doggone it! 🙂
It’s been a while since I’ve heard you yelling ‘First!’, Hf. Did you give up that strategy? It sure is nice to see you up there, though, especially with company. 😉 .
Yeah vc it’s been a while, hasn’t it? Thanks!! I’m enjoying first and I’m waiting patiently for my prize. 🙂
As you wait, remember patience is supposed to be a
virtueprize in and of itself because more than likely Chips Chica will forget (being 21 yrs and all). 😉 😉 Prizes usually are instant or they are not.OMG! Luckily dude had POTUS permission. Secret Service said it was okay as long as he didn’t “walk away with him”….lol!
I love the pic and I laughed so hard when I read that Scott had asked ahead of time and Secret Service said as long he didn’t run off with him. You could tell Scott and PBO were very comfortable with each other.
I see the pizza guy said he’s a Repub that voted for Obama in ’08 and will again in ’12.
Linky link, por favore?
Laura Meckler is a White House correspondent with the Wall Street Journal.
Grazie!
He is a Republican who voted for Obama in 2008 and plan to vote for him again in November. That’s great.
That’s powerful. A Republican in the state of FLORIDA who openly declares having voted for PBO in 08 and promises to vote for him again in ’12. I think Charlie Crist’s endorsement of PBO has opened the floodgates of Republicans for Obama in the Sunshine State 🙂
Hi hopefruit2. Hope all is well with you. I think you are so correct about you comment concerning former Gov. Crist’s endorsement of POB. I think that the lady who introduced POB in Melbourne this morning stated that she is also a Republican who voted for POB in 2008 and will be voting for POB in Nov.
She also stated how much she love, respect POB, and that she will be talking with friends to come out and vote for POB in Nov. Spread the word. One on One is always a great start. Keep moving FORWARD. It happened to me in a store last week. Keep the conversations going.HZ
Chips do you have the pic of Biden with the lady Biker on his lap:
http://twitpic.com/aswlo7
That’s a hoot Lamh, added it to the post, thank yooooooooooooou!!!
There’s also another amusing photo of him giving her a shoulder massage—–not sure how Joe B. ended up in a biker bar. 🙂
Wonder if Jill will have that photo blown up and framed and put above their fireplace. 🙂 Joe B is one of a kind.
The looks on the men’s faces is hilarious.
That’s what I was looking at! I can see them rolling their eyes internally. Of course,*I* choose to believe that VPJoe was standing BEHIND her and just whispering ‘hello, how are you?’
Ok looking at that picture closely imo there is no way she’s on his lap. She’s sitting on her own chair – not his and he’s way too far back. I don’t see how people are saying she’s sitting on his lap.
I notice that also, the look on the men’s face. I hope the SS was somewhere near.
I click on a WaPo article and I see this:
Barack Obama Twitter Mentions this past week – 661,507
Mitt Romney Twitter Mentions this past week – 788,936
If you believe those figures, I have a bridge under the San Francisco bridge to sell you. Once again it appears that Romney paid WaPo to fudge his Twitter mention numbers. There is NO WAY IN HELL that Romney got more mentions on Twitter than Barack Obama during the week of the DNC convention. No.Phucking.Way.
I think mentions are one thing and RTs are another. But yeah, I hear you!
I think you have to add the attacks against Robney.. Bobfr, sends at least a million tweets attacking Robney every week..
also, not all mentions are good mentions!
It absolutely is possible. Do you know how much time people spend on twitter making fun of Mitt and tearing down his arguments. I know that I’ve contributed thousands of tweets alone making fun of Money Boo Boo:)) Remember it does not break down the mentions into positive versus negative; just mentions.
THIS!!!! I thought the exact same thing. People spend a lot of time making fun of the unfit Mittwitt.
X 2 That’s what I’ve been thinking for a while now.
I’m always on twitter reacting to MITTNOCCHIO’s craziness and lies and that of his blue eyed devil, LYINRYAN.
You all are probably right. That’s the only way he could have more mentions – if most of them are NEGATIVE. Like the pit bull from Alaska.
Those numbers COULD be right:) That would be 788,936 WTF is WRONG with him!
‘mentions’ do not equal support I ‘mention’ Mittens all the time. But what do I say about him?
all the mentions of Romney may not be in a good way. David Gregory is trending on twitter today and yesterday, but NOT for good reasons.
those numbers are about right. Lots of folks, myself included are determined to ask Willard multiple times daily to release his tax returns or call him out on some BS statement. So the twitter mentions are most likely 70% or negative.
Bringing this over because it’s so sweet and hilarious. First FLOTUS and now POTUS.
Chips already has it. Chips and TOD, we’re gonna need video. 😀
The looks on the people’s faces are priceless. The one lady who is sitting down looks like a customer and then there is a guy standing up with what looks like a press pass. And POTUS is just so relaxed as he’s being hoisted into the air. Trying to think what is funnier; this pix or the pix of the senior ladies in Chinatown palming his buns!!
Hands down “buns palming”. 🙂
Bobfr, please work your magic. This tweet is the real answer to the question for the August job numbers..
Keith Boykin@keithboykin
GW Bush August jobs record from 2001-2008: (-5,000 jobs). President Obama jobs record for August 2012: (+96,000 jobs). pic.twitter.com/ocqmeh2v
I don’t know how to copy the tweet but can you pull it, post it, and send it out to all the people you have to constantly teach to do their jobs.
Chips can you make this tweet front and center on the blog..
Thank you,
Reply
Here’ya go, Michele …
Have RT’d it so all my followers will see it … 🙂
Bobfr, he also added the link to the BLS report which shows the stats… This is solid proof because people are going to want a link…
roflmao – Newstainer.
Bobfr, thanks you are the greatest…
This is an important tweet.
Nobody seemed to care about every detail of the numbers under Bush. All of a sudden its a big deal for Obama. Good to remind people what it was like in 2008.
lmao. amazing pics. no way mittbot/voucherboy can get that kinda reactions/
Hey you, go to bed, your need your time-zone sleep! 🙂
That’s it. You made me do it.
Hope all of you are enjoying your Sunday!!

AWESOME tweet.
VPJoe is CURRENTLY speaking on the CBS link!!!! http://www.cbsnews.com/liveFeed/widget.shtml
I love VPOTUS! He just called out Robme for not naming one loophole when David Gregory asked him which ones.
I am laughing at the GOP saying that the debates will be good for Romney. Sure. Going up in a debate against the President of the Harvard Law Review is as good an idea as Paul Ryan challenging Michael Phelps to a race in the pool.
(Not my original joke. It was first made when the House GOP invited PBO to a Town Hall with them. Fox was so depressed by POTUS’ performance they didn’t even show the entire event.)
To borrow from Michelle Obama: The debates won’t change Mitt Romney. They will reveal him.
This!!!
Amen FiredUpInCA. These people have to encourage themselves someway. So they are talking about how great Romney will be in the debates. We shall see won’t we.
Hope you don’t mind FiredUpinCA; I made a tweet of this one. It is SO good!
I phonebanked today and Wow, what a difference this week! We called Colorado again and I was dreading the negativity I’d hear (going by last time), but it was all positive! I talked to 2 young men that made me especially exicted. One of them was my son’s age; 21. He was leaning towards Obama, but when I talked to him about how he reformed the student loan system, he got excited. I talked about how the President and his wife had enormous student loan debt themselves; how they understood what it was like. When I told him about when paying back the loans, you only had to pay 10% of what your salary was, he got real excited. He said he didn’t know about that, and said he’d tell his girlfriend, who was also in college.
Another young man told me he was interested in healthcare and the environment. He didn’t know about Healthcare.gov. I got his e-mail address and wrote him an e-mail when I got home, giving him all the links. I also told him about this fantastic blog. I always tell people about The Obama Diary when they’re interested.
I’m fired up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was surprised to hear on NPR this morning that Mitt Romney could have the debates in his favor due to his being in recent debates and his early practice. They said PBO hadn’t debated for quite awhile and he was procrastinating against debate prep also that he tends towards rambling answers. That surprised me due to my thinking NPR was one of the only noncorporate medias left.
NPR had always been my go-to radio station but last Friday I heard a ‘fact-check’ segment that was baloney. I thought my ears must be deceiving me and was rather disheartened. The only ‘truth-warrior’ is dear Chips.
NPR was corrupted during the Bush Administration. Frontline took some fact hits too. The Rethugs in power tried to bend it to the right.
Let’s keep raising those expectations for Mittens and lowering them for PBO. Go right ahead!
He debates issues every day. He’s president for heaven’s sake. What are people thinking?
I believe Mara Liasson is the NPR White House correspondent and, like Juan Williams, is a conservative who regularly appears on Fox. She gives any analysis she is involved in a decidedly pro-republican twist. But the facts as stated are true. Romney has debated alot this year and POTUS has not debated in four years. I think POTUS will do just fine, but we need to lower our expectations. Effectively debating someone who will stand in your face and lie will not be easy.
Hmmm . . PBO is the chess master of politics and extremely competitive. If he wanted to get a psychological advantage over his opponent, he would invite press reports giving his opponent the advantage of preparation, even though it is very clear debates are mostly about stagecraft and a detailed analysis of your opponents tells. I think PBO gets a chuckle out of journalists who write his debate obituary without understanding the real goal of debate play. It sort of like playing the dozens and in that game, PBO will always win.
I heard the “fact check” guy on NPR. What an ass. Rachel is right about them. Romney though, is good at this debate thing in that he learned the art of non-answer answers. So i hope PBO never misses a chance to point out that he just evaded the last question. One thing true about PBO, he does go on. In the age of tweets, it behooves him to come up with tight, powerful retorts. And few humorous answers as well.
The problem for Romney is that no matter what he says, it will be different from the last thing he said, which is what he stands by no matter what it is he said. PBO doesn’t have to rebutt anything Romney says because Romney will do that for him.
The Europe trip was supposed to be good for him. Then it was the convention, Ann humanizing him, now on to the debate. Oh, well.
The Corporate media is all about giving Mittwitt second, third, fourth, fifth, millionth, gazillionth chances. 🙄 they are so corrupt.
IMHO, chance after chance after chance is perfectly normal for the privileged classes. But we’re still gonna win!
beau biden mentioned his mother could beat rlyin’s marathon time. we don’t need no stinkin’ olympiad for this job!
I think I can safely declare that PBO’s Chicago Bears (and mine) will win their opening day game against the Colts. They are ahead 41-21 with 4 minutes to go. That should put another spring in his step. It’s all good today.
Reporting from the phonebank.
HUGE turnout. About 4 data, maybe 14-16 callers. We’re calling Colorado this afternoon.
This is excellent LL! Good luck for continued success and keep up the fantastic work 🙂
This Florida bus tour has been so cool. The people have been so fired up, kind, compassionate and generous towards Pres. Obama. It’s been wonderful to witness.
Yes ut, I am extremely heartened by this.. It looks as though there was more buzz in the state of FL from PBO’s little bus tour than there was from the entire RNC convention!!!
The Lord and Lady MTP
Looking on Twitter for photos of West Palm Beach crowd. Also found this.
Matt Sedensky @Sedensky
Deafening shouts of “Four more years” at Obama event in West Palm Beach; awaiting president’s arrival
Ah CBS showing the crowd.
I really hope Lyin’ rAyn underestimates Big F******n Deal Joe -The Big Dog – Biden. Joe’s gonna use rAyn to sweep up that debate floor.
USA Today: President Obama gets his share of effusive supporters. But in what is likely a first for the 44th president, he got a bear hug.
In route to a rally in West Palm Beach on Sunday, Obama stopped by the Big Apple Pizza & Pasta Restaurant in Fort Pierce and met with the owner Scott Van Duzer.
“Scott, what’s going on man,” Obama shouted to Van Duzer as he came through the door, according to pool reporter Reid Epstein.

“I still wonder how he got these biceps, but what we know is that the guy’s just got a big heart along with big pecs,” Obama said. “So we’re very proud of him and we just want to say thank you for all the great work.”
Finished my calls for today. Two plus hours, 161 calls (to NC). Don’t actually reach a lot of people. Some choose to not share who they are voting for–had 6-8 of those; had 10 STRONG PO; 6-8 undecided; 2 lean Republican; 2 definite Romney and one (older) gentlemen: “Anyone but Obama.” Why? Obamacare…..”Will bankrupt the country blah blah blah.” He was grossly misinformed, but we had a nice conversation. I urged him (three times) to get the book Health Care Reform by Jonathan Gruber. I did explain some of his misconceptions, but finally had to end the call. Thanked him for taking the time to speak with him and encouraged him again to inform himself with correct information.
…with me…….sorry.
Good work, tnmtngirl.
I’m very impressed by those of you actually in the trenches working for Obama. Hope all your hard work pays off.
thanks for your service, tnmtngirl!
Overhearing callers, and we’re getting undecideds. How can you be undecided?!
I wonder that too, LL. Crazy……just makes ZERO sense. Maybe some of them just don’t want to give a direct answer…..some may be “playing” with us. Who knows the reasoning behind it??
I still don’t get that Anne is supposed to be the closer for Mittiful. Every time that I’ve ever seen or heard her, she ends up swallowing he r well manicured feet. I’ve said all along that she is the one to keep under wraps, she is a loose canon. Every since she said Mitt’s dad was crazy, when in fact that same sentiment is what cost him his election, I knew she had open mouth disease. Today, she says that Mitt’s been demonized, that while they’ve never struggled financially, we should trust that they feel everyone’s struggle. So that whole bit about eating tuna and pasta on the ironing board was a lie? Maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was a struggle for the maid to keep all those magic undies at the ready with all that tuna in the way.
😆 at this whole comment, particularly “Mittiful.” I am SO stealing that!
You have a way with words, cookemom!
Thanks cookemom, “mittiful” it is! Thanks.
WTF….all I get is someone’s back on CBS and Cnn isn’t on and Cspan is so far away…it looked like DWS was speaking but I couldn’t even tell that…..
Nevermind…cspan got it togeter FINALLY
Is there a link where we can get a tight shot of the podium and not of the dude in the black hat?
OHHHH my goodness! I love the pictures in the pub with that guy lifting up the president. He is just awesome…wonder what the SS were thinking. lol And look at VP BIden getting all close with a biker chick, this is so cute. Who takes these pictures??? I love it!
These reports in the local press about PBO meeting local people is pure GOLD!!
And it looks like USAToday is covering some of this as well.
Its so awesome to see these guys doing this with the public, average americans. It goes to show they are average americans and know how to have some fun. So important.
First there was the black shirted guy blocking my view, and now I realize I can’t hear on either C-Span or CBS because the mikes seem to be really, really low. Is the mike problem only for me, or are others having the same frustration?
DWS is going for broke!!
Wow…thanks goodness they fixed the audio and camera angle….
OMG DWS has got the crowd FIRED UP, (while CBS tries to mute the sound) !!!
Hmmm Presidential seal at a campaign event?
It is not allowed at fundraisers…campaign events are ok….
THX
Nothing wrong with that Susan, it’s only a no-no when it’s a fundraiser. Bush did it all the time, but the media were kind of quiet about it 😉
Thanks, Chips. Must have missed that on earlier threads. BTW perpetual thanks for this amazing place to gather with like-minded lovers of POTUS and VPOTUS
When is the pity party ? November 6th at midnight ?
GottaLaff over at ThePoliticalCarnival.net has a great rebuttal to the “we empathize” ploy of Robme and Queen Ann
http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2012/09/09/video-ann-romney-we-empathize-we-know-what-it-is-like-to-struggle-really-then-here-are-a-few-questions-for-you/
this is perfect!
This needs re tweeting!!! I can’t tweet…please TOD family with Twitter accounts spread this far and wide.
Here you go!
CNN streaming has started –
http://edition.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=stream4
Audience now jamming to Al Green’s “Let Stay Together”
I love it….look at all the head bobbin…..This is so Great…
This is REALLY funny (and make sure to read the comments. It gets even funnier.):
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/09/09/1129635/-Obama-Bump-Raises-Serious-Questions
One of the best, DK Diaries, Evah! Hope all of you read it 😀 😀 😀
Wasn’t that GREAT?????
This crowd is rocking out. They’ve got rhythm.
Here he is!
This crowd is SUPER FIRED UP & READY TO GO 🙂
He’s up!!!!
How is the Crowd in WPB?
DAMMIT!
Jove, they’ve filled the space, and are fired up! No idea how many.
oops “Jovie”
Ooops…Sorry I meant to post this comment lower down the thread!
SHIT!
Preach, PBO. PREACH!!!!
This is just WOW!
I love that line, the repubs “talked a lot about me, but they didn’t really talk a lot about you.”
And I gave TAX CUTS to the people who ‘NEEDED’ them.
Tax cuts to help you lose a few pounds; tax cuts to improve your love life.
DAMMIT! Slaps the podium.
Don’t forget after this fired up stump speech by our President, VP Biden will be carried live on CSPAN one TV @ 6:30PM ET 🙂
Thank you Hopefruit!!!!!!
Sadly, CSPAN decided to show Ryan instead. 😦 Sorry Chips!
No worries Hopefruit, I’ve lost count of the number of times C-Span/CNN/CBS live streaming has advertized a speech and then not shown it 🙄 I still love you, you know 😆
I know and love you too chips!
Actually, they will be showing VP Biden at 6:50PM. It’s not live, but I’m okay with that.
Thanks!
They need to stay after school! No recess for you!!!
PBO is enjoying this speech thoroughly. And so is the crowd 🙂
They need to stay after school … gets some extra study hall … no recess for you … 😀 😀 😀 :D: 😀
#ARITHMETIC
I just looked at the Biden photo. Look at the 2 Guys? Not happy looks…
and no tip for you people!
Romney can’t understand that the American people don’t work for him, he is applying for the job of working for us.
Well said, Claire. I was just going to post that there’s now way PBO could do this if he didn’t actually and really love America and the American people – all of us!
and don’t you know he’d love to fire us right now!
Hot damn…”and I’ve got a track record you can look at!”
I’m looking forward to the Ohio PPP poll later tonight. It’s been leaked by them that the margin is bigger than Obama’s 2008 win which was 51.5% to McCain 46.9%. So I’m guessing Obama 49-43. Anyone else want to hazard a guess?
These people are ROCKING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are fired up and ready to go!!! I feel the energy. PBO is also feeling it.
great speech! love the final build up–we have more teachers to hire, more troops to bring home! the crowd was fired up!
So does PBO take vitamins? I can only hope for that kind of energy and stamina day after day, all the while being the leader of the free world, with 2 children, a wife, a dog, and crazy ladies forever tugging at him, and now even men trying to lift and whisk him away!
i keep thinking about that, cooke. he is so energetic in all his campaign events, and meanwhile, he is running this country, caring for his family, and presumably sleeping at least a little!
Cookemom you have me dying laughing about “men trying to lift and whisk him away”. 🙂
This may be the most pumped up I’ve ever seen him. Blowing kisses, doing a little dance, even saying “hey” after his podium slap and communicating directly with the people behind him. I think the convention may have allowed him to catch his second wind. With 58 days to go victory is in his sights.
Phone back at my house right now in Pasadena. I have people camped in my Mom’s room, bathroom, kitchen, living-room and stairs. Air-conditioning is working overtime, but we are making these calls.
Thank you to everyone at your house! You guys are the best!!!
Video of PBO being picked up by the pizza guy
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57509143-503544/obama-gets-an-unexpected-lift-by-pizza-shop-owner/
LOL that guys arms look thicker than PBO’s thighs!
Man Scott Van Duzer was fired up!! PBO needs to take him out on the road with him. Wonder if he’ll become this years Joe the Plumber:))
Thanks, LOL I was hoping there would be video!
Hello Joe! W-h-a-a-T is going on! Oh and Hello, this is President Obama calling, how are you doing today? Holy Moley! What am I missing by working all day? 😆
LOL – Dr. Jill is such a good sport! 🙂
how perfect that she jumped on this right away–with ricky ricardo line!
Yes, but that ain’t the real Dr. Jill. Fake account. 🙂
ooops…
loved it anyway!
HF I was supposed to leave to feed my horse…SOOO glad I took one more peek at TOD. Jill’s tweet is priceless. Hoped she’d weigh in on that photo.
and
oops my red gravatar has disappeared.
Happily gravatar is back.
i sure hope he’s right. in the article, the 3 reasons given are, one, robmey’s choice of rlyin, with the implications for medicare; two, akin’s statements about ‘legitimate’ rape, reminding us of the extremity of rw views; and three, the skinny-dippers in the sea of galilee.
i absolutely get the frist two, but it’s hard to believe rethugs would vote for a dem because of this incident, if they even remember it by now. hope it’s true! and i bet the dnc is reminding voters in their districts.
Obama spoke for more than a half hour in front of about 7,000 cheering fans. His overriding message of the afternoon was, “we’ve come too far to turn back now.”
http://www.postonpolitics.com/2012/09/obama-in-west-palm-channels-clinton-and-says-weve-come-too-far-to-turn-back-now/
I’m afraid that CSPAN one TV is NOT going to have VP Biden’s earlier speech in Portsmouth, OH at 6:30PM ET as they have on their guide listing – instead they’re carrying Paul Ryan’s earlier speech in Nevada at 6:30.
I’m not sure why they decided to switch. I hope they’re going to carry Biden at some point tonight.
They already have the video online though http://www.c-span.org/Events/Vice-President-Biden-Campaigns-in-Ohio/10737433915/
They also have Ryan’s video online.
https://twitter.com/NJedwina/status/244920280563216384
Look like POTUS was mighty pump too. I think he could have spoke for another thirty members or hour.
Another thirty minutes or hour.
We’ve got video guys and it is so sweet and funny.
From a long time friend of mine
This is all over the nightly news; getting a lot of positive coverage. Convention bounce also being reported on. It’s being acknowledged that the debates are Romneys last chance and how hard it is to remove an incumbent.
one more pic chips
Lamh, you win the award for today’s magical-photo-finder – added to the post, thank you!!!
Hahahahahahahahahahhahhahahahahahahaha!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! Retail politics at its best!!!! 😆 😆 this is how it’s done Willtard! Not by insulting people’s cookies and talking about how you’re unemployed!
Can you imagine snarling Dick Cheney mingling with the people like this? Oh no…he couldn’t be too far away from his bunker at an undisclosed location…
I like this kind of Obama campaign news—–happening across the country—-good, determined people everywhere
Very nice. Citizenship at it’s best. A far cry from the angry, hostile campaigns of the Tea Party/GOP Town Halls/Midterms, back in 2009 and 2010.
what a great photo–look at that child’s face. so proud of his family, and his country.
I have never laughed so hard as at the photo of the POTUS being lifted up by the republican pizza guy!!!
Now combine that with the photo of the biker lady sitting on VPOTUS’ lap!
Oh my what a day!
its official, Team Obama (VPOTUS, FLOTUS and POTUS) have lost their —- minds! Our collective future now rests in only Dr. Biden’s hands (until she too gets a lift off the ground)
Hahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!! 😆
The Fab Four are a whole lot of fun 😀 Makes me feel good. Just no more lifting of my POTUS and FLOTUS !!
It’s almost 7PM. Do you know where John McCain is? Do you care?
Ignore the headline, but look at what Joe’s been up to:
http://www.baynews9.com/content/news/baynews9/news/article.html/content/news/articles/bn9/2012/9/9/liftoff_pizza_shop_o.html
PORT ST. LUCIE — President Obama made a surprise visit to a sweltering storefront Obama For America office at the corner of Port St. Lucie Boulevard and Westmoreland Boulevard and placed thank-you calls to two campaign volunteers as 30 or so campaign workers looked on.
Arriving a little after 3:30 p.m. on his way to the Palm Beach County Convention Center, the president brought some pizzas, apparently from his earlier stop at Big Apple Pizza and Pasta in Fort Pierce.
Obama was handed a cell phone to place a call to campaign volunteer Barney Roberts of Jacksonville who, Obama said, also served in the armed forces for 12 years.
Barney’s phone blocked the call from the phone Obama was given, so the president was handed another phone and this time got a message machine.
“Hey Barney, this is Barack Obama. We’re in the campaign office and everybody’s saying what a great neighborhood team leader you are. We just want to say thank you for everything you do. I’m going to try you at the other number,” the president said.
“This is not as easy as it looks,” Obama said before dialing another number and reaching Barney.
“Is this Barney? Barney, this is Barack Obama…..We’re over at the campaign office and folks are telling me what unbelievable work you’re doing as a neighborhood team leader and I’m just calling to say not only do I appreciate your service in our armed forces but I really appreciate all the hop you’re giving me.”
There was a brief pause.
“You don’t believe me, do you?” Obama said.
“He’s being quiet,” Obama said to the people in the room. Then, to Barney, he said: “No, it’s true, it’s me. Anyway, I wanted you to know what you’re doing every day, that’s making all the difference in the campaign, so keep it up. Everybody up in Washington, Michelle and all the girls, they say thank you too.”

I hope Barney has recovered!

EXCLUSIVE: Interactive PANORAMIC IMAGES from the last night of the Democratic National Convention
by Anne on SEPTEMBER 9, 2012
So far as we know, these are the only interactive panoramic images taken during and after President Obama’s acceptance speech.
Click and hold your mouse to move around the image or use the tools at the bottom of each image. The button on the far right will make the image full screen (recommended). Although this is Flash technology, I use a program that will allow you to view these images on your iPad and iPhone, as well. If you don’t see the panoramic images load below often a browser refresh will load them. There are links to the images flat below the panos.

Just stunning Ladyhawke, I’ll include the link in the next post – thanks a million.
simply AWsomeeeeeeee…love that…and yanno i think i like the confetti better than the balloonss…smilin
If I remember right, they had confetti in 2008. I remember Sasha and the littlest of the Biden grand kids scooping some in the palm of their hands and throwing it in the air.
HEH.
Wow, even Frank Rich is noting the interview was a crock of phooey.
miss ann had to be there, to represent the ‘struggle’ in myth’s life. what they may not realize is that we see miss ann, who raised 5 kids without help, who had miscarriages, who had cancer and m.s.; then we see myth, who had money, some more money, and some friends with money.
her misery doesn’t humanize him; it reminds us that in myth’s world, the women suffer while the men get rich. he actually smiled during the interview while miss ann was talking about her health issues. no skin off his nose!
It didn’t get the attention it deserved, but when Queen Ann spoke about her miscarriage, she said she laid in bed for hours while she was losing her baby so as not to disturb Mitt. In the morning he dropped her off at the hospital and went to work. he didn’t know his youngest son was traumatized by the event. that is not family values — that is chilling.
I have a bad asthma attack and I wake my husband up. And we have to stress whether one or both of us has to miss a day’s work because of it. I make strong coffee, puff on my inhaler. My husband rubs my back to alleve my stress, to make it better. If I end up in the ER, I have to pay the bill because I’m self-employed with a preexisting condition and uninsurable.
It’s actually okay to not have to live through what millions of us live through. It’s another thing to not give a damn, with veiled disdain as if it’s our own fault we’re not as rich as they are. It’s despicable.
Actually as a person who has MS, I don’t see Ann like that at all. I don’t see her as having empathy for those of us who couldn’t afford to pay over 2K a month for MS injections, and the oral pill is more like 10K a month w/out ins. I don’t see empathy for those of us with MS who had to wait for 2 years on SSDI before we could qualify for Medicare to get medical care because we could not afford Cobra insurance from jobs we had to quit due to our condition. I don’t see her empathizing with those who have MS who cannot get approved for disability have to go to work each and everyday without the luxuries she has. I don’t see her empathizing with those of us with MS who had to return to work because we could not live off of SSDI pain and all.. She brags about donating to the Mormon church yet I have never heard her bragging about setting up a scholarship for children who have parents with MS, or donating to families struggling with MS. Having MS does not give you empathy. Most people with MS don’t have maids and multiple cars and homes. She should be the #1 advocate for “Obamacare,” considering her health conditions, but she is not so her performance today once again shows me just how out of touch they really are. Her husband has promised to defund planned parenthood. Services that help women discover cancer, but she doesn’t empathize with women enough to be against Mitt’s position on it so again she lacks empathy and is very unbelievable. Having MS does not equate to empathy.
I have had two close friends with MS and I’ve watched them struggle with the stress, fighting with insurance companies, wondering if they can get treatment. Worrying about their families, the roof over their heads. I’m sympathetic to anyone with the disease, but Queen Ann has chosen to learn NOTHING about the struggles that the vast majority of MS patients face. She should hang her head in shame instead of parading her illness as a badge of honor when her husband’s policies would undo the work PBO and Dem’s have done to actually alleviate the suffering of those afflicted with this disease.
I’m going to link your comment on twitter. Everyone should read it.
Reducing stress is one of the best therapies for people with MS to reduce the chance of flare ups etc. Ann Romney’s stress is not like 99% of Americans. Most people with MS are in that group of people who benefit from President Obama’s policies, not that 1% who her hubby is trying to help. I just went back to work after 7 years. I had to. It is hard trying to live off of SSDI. The GOP across the country including here in SC are slashing all kinds of programs that benefit the disabled. I could not qualify for Medicaid even when I first became disabled because my income was still considered too high. I have not heard Queen Ann discuss how #MythRomney’s plans would help others like me because he doesn’t have any.
I can’t possibly fathom what you’re going through, but I’ve seen the pressure on my two friends and it breaks my heart. My first friend with MS had been an incredible dancer with a future ahead of her, and it was devastating to watch her body take away her career and her passion, all the while wondering how she would support herself, whether or not she would be able to get treatment. The Romneys would be a disaster for this country.
AnnD seems to believe that if she repeats it enough she’ll really convince us of her empathy.
How do you convince someone you have empathy when all the Romneys talk about is themselves? It’s disgusting.
GM, 57F. I side with Obamacrat – empathy would be best shown by AnnD’s actions, and if it were there SHE wouldn’t need to mention it so much because the ‘recipients’ would step forward. The Romneys really are ‘in a world of their own, that no one else can share’.
This is beautifully said. Wish it could get wider exposure, Obamacrat. If you’re speaking from personal experience I’m sorry for your struggles. Blessings your way.
Yes Susan I am, but my faith is strong. Actually I am more on a natural path now. The injections and MS medications are very hard to take because of the side effects. I was a young 25 yr old mother when I was diagnosed. It was a very hard time. I was fully bed ridden for three months. I had a very good job but I had to take a medical leave of absence, and eventually quit after attempting to go back to work. I don’t complain, and I don’t use my MS as an excuse, but to Republicans I am lazy and have no desire to work. There are plenty of people with MS who want to be on medication, but simply cannot afford it. Some of the drug makers have special programs, but not all qualify. Ann Romney needs to be an advocate for MS, but she should not try to exploit it. I connect with Michelle Obama when she discusses her dad, but I have no connection with Ann Romney.
All I have to say is, this video of POTUS being lifted up and the VP and the biker lady, have to be the funniest things I’ve seen on a campaign trail in a long time.
LOL…..
He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother
Oh my, this song surely bring back memories of days gone by.
LOL, I agree. And Barack Obama has provided some interesting and hilarious material for all of us and for historians. One of my favorites to this day is him chiding Hillary for taking on the role of Annie Oakley during the primary. Apologies to the Hillary primary supporters but since it’s all in the family now it’s fun to take a look back. I remember while the Obama supporters were all sweating how this would play out, Senator Obama qas taking it all in stride with some playful jabs: “That’s some politics being played —by Hillary Clinton. I wanna see that picture of her – out there in the duck blind. Ha ha.”
Any Serena fans out there? Turn on CBS now!!
#ObamaPizzaGuy
I believe Ronald Reagan said he would be against Stem cell research if it found the cure for alzheimers but Nancy Reagan came out against after seeing her husband deteriorate under the dieease.
Serena Williams won the US Open! She is among the greatest of all time.
Indeed. She’s had a fabulous year as a champion 🙂
Wow! Three back to back championships. Serena is indeed “among the greatest” tennis players “of all time.”
I loathe the Romneys. http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/why-ann-romneys-meet-the-press-interview-severely-damaged-mitts-campaign/politics/2012/09/09/48672
On the nose!
“Mitt Romney has been “demonized”? Really? Ann Romney has no understanding of the word — exposing her lack of empathy all the more.
Barack Obama has been called a socialist, a communist, a Marxist, a Kenyan, a foreigner, a Muslim, a nigger, the magic negro, a dictator, a Manchurian Candidate, a racist, a homosexual, married to a man, anti-capitalism, Hitler, Stalin, tied to Murderous Communist Terrorists, treasonous, a backer of global currency, a dope dealer, an Islamic terrorist, the most anti-religious president in history, “a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S.,” and much, much more. (Note: while all of these accusations are untrue, not all of them are bad, although their sources believe they are.)”
I have a question, two actually. I did not watch the MTP interview but my sister did. She said Romney said he had visited Afghanistan in response to the expected question about Afghanistan. I googled it and cannot find anything. Did anyone else notice this segment, and does anyone know if he’s ever visisted Afghanistan or is this another lie? Thanks in advance!
Visited Afghanistan? Huh? I’ve nothing of the like. This is probably a lie. It would have been all over the news. What he went there and back without anyone knowing, including the Afghans?
Thanks to the transcript search tool, he indeed did say “I’ve been to Afghanistan and the troops know my commitment….” To me, this is pretty significsnt so can someone please tell me WHEN he’s been to Afghanistan?
Another lie? He needs to get SLAMMED for this!
Very good question. You might want to forward it to Josh Marshall at TPM – he and his team do a lot of good research. This is their email address for comments and news tips: talk@talkingpointsmemo.com
Thanks will do. I also emailed the Maddow blog. This whole thing with Afghanistan and our troops really bothers me given he wants to be CiC.
I found this article online, but can’t locate a date as to when it was posted.
Can anyone tell when this was written?
http://www.alternet.org/rss/breaking_news/429672/romney_visits_afghanistan,_middle_east/
This is bullshit! He went to London, Israel and Poland. That’s the only foreign trip he’s been on to my knowledge. I wouldn’t trust a site called Alternate as it seems to be operating in an alternate universe. We would have heard of this bastard going to all these places. He’s such a liar and whoever wrote that bullshit “article” is also a damned liar.
This article you linked to seems suspect! It does not give the dates when Romney visited Afghanistan. Besides, as much as the corporate media love him, surely they would have followed and documented Romney’s visit to a war zone.
He visited Afghanistan either while as gov or in 2007. This visit didn’t occur now.
Gov of Montana was part of that delegation. Perhaps, 2005 or 2006 before Romney left his gov post.
Yes, Nena, Schweitzer mentioned this in his speech to the convention. It was a while ago.
I guess Rand Paul (Moron- KY) was just beside himself to learn that Govt hasn’t expanded under PBO….

I’m sorry, but this is hilarious. 😆

Very welcome, Susan:)
have you folks seen this site? fantastic!!
‘ 90 Days, 90 Reasons is an independent initiative unaffiliated with Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. 90 Days, 90 Reasons was conceived by two guys originally from Chicago, Dave Eggers and Jordan Kurland. In late July, they looked around and saw that many of Obama’s voters and donors from 2008 needed to be reminded of all he has accomplished, and all he will do if given another term. They asked a wide range of cultural figures to explain why they’re voting for Obama in 2012, in the hopes that this might re-inspire the grassroots army that got Obama elected in the first place. Every day, a new reason will be posted—in short, Twitter form, with a longer essay available here. Please spread the word. ‘

Cool! Maybe Chips could add to the blogroll?
Seal Team guy on 60 minutes right now.
No thanks!
You bet!!
That such incidents are humanizing, that is…….
He’ll try, but something tells me it won’t go over well.
He’s not at all the sort of person you would feel you want to hug. PBO is a very warm and compassionate, sweet, fun-loving man. People get that.
Amen!!!
Romney would probably have his security wrestle the guy to the ground or taze him.

President Obama arriving at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
Nope, Andrews AFB
When I first heard that Rahm was leaving the campaign I was kind of surprised. In retrospect him creating this Super-Pac is huge. We have got to hold the Senate and take the House to give PBO that real mandate that everyone says he had for two years but only real had for two months at the beginning of his term. I’m actually kind of surprised that PBO doesn’t mention voting for the congress people even more when he’s out on the stump.

There’s some sad news from West Palm Beach. A local cop on motorcycle escorting the Prez’s motorcade got into an accident and later died at the hospital.
Oh, this is horrible. Poor guy.

Know the consequences of cutting Medicaid
Medicaid has a huge economic effect, not only on its recipients but also on the hospitals and clinics in many ill-served communities. Lives hang in the balance.
