Hello TOD family, as a long time lurker that has witnessed the the highs and lows (poll/single issue madness), the blowups and  makeups (welcome back Sue), the support (to many to name), the encouragement (awesome writing Liberal Librarian), even the concerned inquiry about MIA regulars, I just wanted to thank you all for being the funny, informative, argumentative, sometimes quirky (cocobutter & naughty mats anyone) family that has made politics fun during this administration.

Your support of PBO and those around him has been magnificent. You’ll even got me to volunteer & join Twitter. lol.  Thanks Chips for being an awesome host and guide. Much love!!! FORWARD!!!

And now, my friends, my Chips, on that lovely and delightful pictorial essay, I have witnessed my head roll across the floor, so that must mean something. Goodnight, sweet dreams, I am so glad I was first on this post! It has been a wonderful week for the campaign, and now we are going to move it along at Warp Factor 10, all the way to November 6, 2012! ( and please, if anyone sees where I can get a few of those WOMEN WILL REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER rally signs, please please please let me know)! 🙂

Remember in the first campaign against McCain when Obama was talking about judgement being a very important part of a person’s character? He used it as a measure of choosing a President. He said choosing a VP was an indicator of judgement. Obama showed good judgement in choosing Biden whereas McCain did not in choosing Palin. Again, Romney did not in choosing Ryan.

Polls indicate 10pt bounce for PBO!!! ( according to PoliticsUSA who are using GALLUP# s). Mitt Romney is screwed.

  8. September 8, 2012 at 12:58 am

WOW. That was awesome. And the absolute bestest picture was the “rodent training” one. Not that they weren’t all a blast to see, but that one says it all. I simply do NOT get how some people think Mr. Ryan is so good-looking. I think he looks scary and now I’ll forever think of him as a rodent with beady little eyes.
Thanks for this visual. It was simply great!!!

lead article, lead headline on google news, with nice photo, too! (note: on the site, the word ‘disappointing’ is in quotes)

‘ – In retrospect, the most dramatic tonal moment of the speech may have been this brief passage near the end. Obama was indirectly addressing the difference between the Hope-and-Change aura of 2008, and the Doing-Our-Best-and-Hoping-for-Better realities now. But with the final three words, he made several points at once:

” I recognize that times have changed since I first spoke to this convention. The times have changed, and so have I. I’m no longer just a candidate. I’m the President.”

To me, that final sentence came across not as boasting or preening. Instead it had a startling spare, understated drama. Obama used it as the transition to a line about the burden of wartime leadership. (“That means I know what it means to send young Americans into battle, for I have held in my arms the mothers and fathers of those who didn’t return.”) But I heard it as also conveying, Let’s get serious here. I’m the President, so I know how hard these trade-offs are. I’m the President, so there are some things I won’t joke about. But also: for all of you who think I’m a Muslim, an alien, a socialist, a fraud, here’s a reminder. I’m the President. ‘

Bobfr, you are indeed a true patriot in the best sense of the word. I truly appreciate your relentless exposure of the traitors who, from day one of the Obama presidency, put partisan political self interests above the national interests. One reason I will never –and I mean never –take Romney seriously is his choice of Paul Ryan to be a VP. This is the same Paul Ryan who met with the plotters, on the day President Obama took the oath of office, to commence plotting on how to undermine the new President’s policies that were aimed at rescuing the country from the nightmare of an impeding financial collapse and a sure economic depression.

In my book, Paul Ryan, Eric cantor, Newt Gingrich and the rest of the plotters, including media people like Rush Limbaugh, are true enemies of this country. The fact that the so called mainstream media are totally silent about what took place on Jan. 20, 2009 has made me lose faith in the media. Just Imagine what would have happened if leading Democratic members of Congress and prominent Democratic media strategists had met on Jan. 20, 2001, to plot against the newly Supreme Court appointed President, George W. Bush! Even though George W. Bush’s Presidency was problematic in that the majority of Americans voted against him in 2000, the fact that he was declared President was enough for the opposition party to allow him to govern. This is not what Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor, Mitch McConnell and others did when it came to President Obama who was duly elected by the majority of Americans with an electoral land slide. No! From day one of the Obama presidency, Paul Ryan and his fellow Congrtessional plotters dedicated themselves to obstructing everything the newly elected President Obama did; including policies they had previously supported. They did this in spite of the fact the country was facing a devastating economic crisis. And now they have the audacity to blame him for their obstructionism and for putting their partisan political interests above the interests of the nation/.

One of the main reasons I admire and support President Obama is his persistent steadiness. Despite the evil obstructionism by the GOP, President Obama remained focused on ensuring that the country will not go under. That is why any one with a brain not polluted by right wing madness should be thankful that President Obama is our President.

Beautifully stated, nath. I wish there was a way to make every American understand what these guys did it and how they consistently put their political prejudices over the good of the country. They are traitors to their country and Bob has been a powerful and consistent voice in calling them out.

        • September 8, 2012 at 9:51 am

          Thank you, nath.

This is an exceptional summation of the situation and I hope Chips will feature it.

SEMINOLE — President Barack Obama is throwing a rally Saturday at St. Petersburg College’s Seminole Campus and residents could be affected — even if they aren’t going to see the speech.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, college officials said. Obama will take the stage at 10:55 a.m., the White House said. The president was scheduled to arrive at St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport around 11 p.m. Friday and stay overnight in St. Petersburg.

Traffic near the event could be affected throughout the morning. Some things to know:

Closures/Traffic: The official motorcade route has not been released, but officials said at least one major road — 113th Street — will be closed for a few hours.

About 10:30 a.m., that road will close between 86th and 102nd avenues, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

Other roads in the area, likely between St. Petersburg-Clearwater International Airport and the college, could see intermittent closures or lane blockage as the president’s motorcade passes.

Parking: It will be limited and first-come, first-serve for regular and handicap spots. People are encouraged to park at Seminole Mall, 11201 Park Blvd.

Shuttles will transport people to the campus, beginning at 7 a.m.

Event rules: Those attending Obama’s speech will face some strict rules about what they can and can’t bring to the outdoor event.

My twitter timeline is full of folks agonizing over #uppers this morning…. remember folks everytime Dems succeed- and we had a hell of a successful week- the pundits attack us/President Obama. This is & has been their modus operendi since we elected President Obama… and the msnbc “progressives” have always been the worst of the bunch. What they say cannot take away anything from our success, stand taller & work even harder to get out the vote for POTUS.

    • September 8, 2012 at 9:58 am

Ecactly, Sherijr, I refuse to listen to them. I saw with my own eyes the rousing enthusiasm at this convention. People like Chris Hayes, who are eager to tell us how smart they are don’t impress me a bit. Last evening you saw Ed Schultz and Chris Matthews building on the enthusiasm from the convention, revisiting the wonderful moments and speakers.

Chris Hayes as far as I am concerned wants to be relevant. These people who never worked for anything in their lives, but was given everything, feel entitled and I refuse to waste my brain cells on therm.

        September 8, 2012 at 10:04 am

exactly. I don’t watch tv at all.. because I just can’t listen to these people- they’re inconsistent.. they pick at minute bs.. and frankly they’re no more in tune w/ “our” lives than is a Romney. When I read via my timeline that they’re basically dissecting FLOTUS’ speech.. it was clear that they are grasping at anything to bring down the enthusiasm of last week. As someone else wrote, they ‘uppers’ ought to spend this time today going hard at the gop & the AJA- one year later & still not jobs bill… or voter supression. When do they ever really FIGHT for our side?

I totally agree. Thanks to the unions, I am off on Saturday and Sunday and I refuse to let allow both CH or MHP to ruin my weekend with their self righteousness. I wish people would stop watching shows that does not edify your incoming knowledge experience.

BTW…I purchases a Macbook Pro and its is simply divine. I am getting acclimated with it now but it has been a real joy going from Dell/Windows to Mac/OS. I have wifi as well so I am just loving life right now.

Chips, thanks for a wonderful week of photos and comments. The DNC convention was a moving, informational, awe inspiring, love fest which I hope will shake those GOP folks to their knees and realize what a treasure they have in this amazing man, his wife and his team. Kudos to Kal Penn for the smoothness of everything. Considering the size and scope, I thought events were well timed, appropriate, and just downright perfect.

Chips: I love looking at this photo array. It inspires me. After this post I will go to Pamela’s page and make another donation.

I get home delivery of the NYTimes and today, as in most days it infuriattes me, at least at first. The front pages are all about the economy framed in Rep. terms. BUT, and it is a big but, the editorial tells the truth. Stick with PBO. Economic conditions will not be where we want them to be until every American wanting a job has one, BUT no reason to think that Mitt will do better and plenty of reason to worry he will do far, far worse.

This is what we do! Excellent!

    http://www.balloon-juice.com/2012/09/08/food-for-the-heart-and-soul/

Republicans, complain all you want to about the President moving his acceptance speech Friday indoors due to storms, what the Democrats did afterwards for Charlotte is outstanding. The logistics for the event move included deciding what to do with all the food for the 65,000 people expected to be on hand, and when the event was moved, the DNC absolutely did the right thing.
All the fancy catered food intended for the VIP suites and club rooms at the stadium – and perhaps even for the president himself – was redistributed Friday to local soup kitchens and shelters, via Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.
On the menu: thousands of pounds of pecan-fried chicken, baked orzo, fresh crudités, three-bean bake, fresh-cut fruit and something called short rib cobbler.
And that’s only a partial list.
It had all been prepared in advance by chef Jon Morey and the kitchen staff of Delaware North Inc., the official food provider for the stadium. A dollar value for the food was not immediately available.
“It’s really a wonderful order,” said Kay Carter of Second Harvest, which got 7,500 pounds of the food.
“None of this food will go to waste. We contacted every shelter and soup kitchen in town and asked them how much refrigeration capacity they have and how many are they feeding. It will all be gone at the end of the day.”

Spread the word! We take care of our own!
