I just turned the convention on on CSPAN…..just in time to see Caroline Kennedy! She is part of my youth/young adulthood, and I feel particularly for her. I reember the pictures of her as an adorable little girl with her brother. She has become an absolutely phenomenal woman. Also, of course….I like her name:)

Awwww Gabby. Tears in everyone’s eyes. What a reception she received. I give her so much credit for working so hard to get to this level where she was able to do this. And I cannot even let myself think about what happened to her and all that contributed to that senseless act.

  19. September 6, 2012 at 8:05 pm

This is way too emotional, and it’s only 5 pm on the West Coast.

Okay, I may come across as sexist but this is not meant to. We have been some exceptionally beautiful women speaking on the podium these three nights. Longoria being the most recent. And I will be honest, on first sight, it is their beauty that hits me. But that disappears the second they start speaking. What they have to say actually distracts from their beauty, in a good way. I can’t think of a single Republican woman that I have ever heard speak that I can say the same thing about.

it’s really hitting me that this entire convention is a healing salve on the wounds that the republicans and the billionaire owners of all the media have been purposely cutting into the american body politic for 30 years and more.

the gabby giffords pledge was the perfect embodiment of that, where that man filled with anti-government hate shot her and killed those people with his media programmed rage, and there she is tonight basically healing us all from the horror and honoring those poor victims. it explains why every other speaker turns me into a blubbering mess. this is a national purge of the republican poison. forward, america and the world with democrats and president obama!!

    Convention Thread

    by BooMan
Thu Sep 6th, 2012 at 08:35:50 PM EST

Here’s a thread for convention-watchers who want to make observations. I’m a little sad tonight because this really is going to be the last speech Obama has to give where his political career is riding on the outcome. We’ll probably see State of the Union addresses, and we’ll probably see him speak to the nation after some tragedy or another, but he’ll never again have to perform on this level with this amount of pressure. And it has always been a joy to watch Barack Obama perform as a politician. It’s the same kind of joy you get from watching a Gold Medal performance in the Olympics, or a successful Mars landing, or a really great rendition of a Beethoven symphony, or any other area where humans step up to the spotlights under pressure and just nail it. He’s been the Mohammed Ali of politics for five years. He’s had his bad fights; he’s underestimated an opponent or two. But he’s been magnificent.

Yes, we still have the debates. But Obama has never been better than adequate at debating. Tonight is his last real chance to show us what he can do.

Thanks to all of our military veterans, past, present, and future – and their families! We the People won’t forget you.

Adm. John Nathman is very handsome! I loved his speech, too. Beautiful tribute to our amazing military men and women!!!! Senator John Kerry…BAMMMMMMM, that’s gonna leave a mark!

Checking to see if the networks are airing any of this? Nope. CBS and ABC are airing some mindless shows, shows for dummies. (sorry but true) NBC has coverage but it was David Gregory telling Brian Williams that there are many who no longer care for President Obama and his policies but don’t like the personal attacks he receives and Obama will try to connect with those people tonight. What??? MSNBC and CNN think that their pundits are more worthy than the convention—–why would anyone listen to them babbling away about their deep thoughts on the convention when you can just watch the convention?

David Gergen is a doofus!!!! He said that if he were Vice President Biden he would feel a little hurt because he doesn’t have his own night. John King took up for the President saying the convention was cut to 3 days.
