evening everyone (afternoon for me)…I watched this entire DNC convention…(so glad I’m a SB owner đ ) incredible passion. Truth telling, that’s what it is.
Good night all. What a wonderful way to end the day. I watched the convention with #2 (24 years old). she was on her Twitter feed as she watched. It’s so funny that the topic among her demographic is the guys saying there should be more Michelles and the women saying they want a man like Michelle has. It’s a war between the sexes as each are seeing romantic role models that they aspire for. #2 says she feels like she should be doing more, feels so inspired, was in tears about Michelle watching PBO hunched over reading the letters. They are tweeting all over the place about voting and volunteering and becoming better citizens.
Something tells me that âLittle Honey Boo Booâ on Wednesday wonât be getting any bounce from the DNC convention. Tomorrow itâs Sandra Fluke, John Kerry, Liz Warren, Jim Clyburn, Eva Longoria, Big Dog, and many moreâŚ
It was a team meeting because we have a HUGE convention watch party on Thursday and we needed to figure how to best channel the enthusiasm of all the new volunteers that have signed up to attend. So it was a working meeting…
Not only did I cry listening to her speech, but reading all the loving comments, reactions to her speech kept me tearing for quite a while afterward. Still overwhelmed by her speech.
The haters can hate, but nothing will change the fact that we not only have a beautiful first lady but a very intelligent one as well. I know Mrs. Robinson is very proud of her, and I feel that her dad is looking down on her from above. It’s not hard to see what Sasha, Malia, and the president thinks of her. I don’t care what Fineman has to say. Something tells me that the president and first lady could introduce Jesus to him, and he’d still find something wrong with it. I sussed him out a long time ago. He comes from the old school wherein it’s never the proper thing to do to praise people of color too highly. He may fool a lot of other people, but he doesn’t fool me. I’ve dealt with people like him for almost 60 years now, and I recognize them and what their agenda is soon after they open their mouths.
@KrystalLl1..@gov says the whole#RNC netted 4 million tweets. #DNC just broke 3 million in one night.
@chrisrockoz..Ann Romney is throwing dishes at he TV right now and screaming. #AreYouBetterOff #DNC
Good Night TODers. Back tomorrow, will bring beverages.
WOW is all I can say. It was personal, it was about the policies that affect us. It came down to a heck of a tesitmony from the woman who knows him best. I am so inspired by their story, our story and the clear eyed vision they bring to who we are as Americans. I thought how can she bring us more this dnc than last. She did it. She shared and connected us all in such a moving way.
I must go to bed now as I’m incoherent and way past bed time. Here is to Michelle Obama ! What a woman, partner, mom and awesome orator.
I don’t think you could begged for a better night, so thankful this was such an outstanding night for the Dems. And that was a funny tweet on the last thread.
Thanks Chips and Tods, love the pictures!
This was so wonderful. 3 of my friends and my 85 yr old aunt were calling at various times tonight. Each one of us was glued to the television. Such an emotional night. We can’t wait for the next two. I love this.
They rocked the message tonight. All the speakers were great, including ‘Dirty Harry’ Reid. He was on fire. It was the most ‘forcefull’ I have ever seen him speak. Everyone seems hyped and excited about the message. Mitt and company are in BIG trouble.
Jennifer Granholm mentioned one of LOLGOP’s tweets on the air. I watched on C-span and taped the rest. I’m going back now to see the commentary. WOW.
Wow, looks great by the first glance at it that I can have, but has to wait till I come back home from work. Caught a whiff about teachers though, which is always so much appreciated. I love how these people talk about teachers. đ *is off to teach*
That´s the impression that I have, too. As a German, we have a very different outset on political issues and whereas recent polls show that PBO would win with 80% if the elections depended on the German public, we are also very used to bipartisan politics. Therefore, even though I strongly agree with the viewpoints of the democrats, I always find opinions important and, having a few friends on both sides of the aisle in the States, I am noone to easily say words like “hate”. However, as someone working as a teacher, I know how many of us really pour their heart and soul into the job and hearing Michelle or PBO talk of teachers in an appreciative way (and not like the Republicans who focus on stuff like “the teacher unions are too strong” or my last week´s “favourite” by Chris Christie: “Teachers didn´t become teachers to become rich and famous”) always lifts my heart. Because ours is a very rewarding job but sometimes we need a nice word about our efforts đ
I know đ And this is what makes the job so worthwhile.
It´s just nice to see these little appreciations in Michelle´s speech or in what PBO regularly says in contrast to these things because laying off teachers or talking about reducing the power of their unions and all the things I saw between the lines of Christie´s speech reminds me taht in my country, too, you can have different statuses as a teacher. It´s the same job, but depending on your status that´s about 500 euros more or less on your monthly paycheck…
I remember when our Prez was talking about the first time he met Michelle..she was interviewing him for a job. Once he realized she wouldn’t go out with him because of working “rules” he opted to quit his job. He knew she was a diamond when he first met her. He was right! Like Roger Ebert, I am so proud of being a democrat.
Just got back from a little mini-vacation getaway in Colorado to catch the C-span replay of the first lady’s speech–I have no words to describe…just…awesome. I hate that I’m going to miss everything tomorrow night because I have to work đŚ
Chris Rock â@chrisrockoz
The people who demanded to see Obama’s birth certificate dont seem the slightest bit interested in seeing Romney’s tax returns #RNC #GOP2012
It appears I have a lot to catch up on! I had night class and just got back home and so it looks like I missed the whole DNC’s first day! But thank God I will not be missing the next two. From what I see here our Michelle rocked it. Thank you Chips for work you do, you are the best.
What a wonderful speech. I read on CBS that she wrote the speech and worked on it for a month. She is truly our national treasure and she is beautiful through and through. đ
Whilst falling asleep last night with my earphones in I thought “don’t worry” you won’t miss anything TOD will have it covered so that you can catch up tomorrow. Thanks Chips (from the other side of the pond) and with tears in her eyes after that wonderful speech xxx
I am overwhelmed with emotion at how amazing tonight’s speeches were. I missed Ted Strickland’s speech, but heard it was a new level of firebrand. Deval Patrick was simply magnificent, dare I say, “presidential.” George O’Malley was the exuberance personified. Julian Castro’s personal story and powerful delivery brought to mind the 2004 speech of Senate-Candidate Barack Obama. And my First Lady, well I have only one word to describe who she is and what she did tonight… PHENOMENAL!!
Oh what a night…..what a night. Nobody can dispute that Michelle is the best. The best wife…the best mother…..the best First Lady…..the best daughter………the best sister……..the absolute best orator. GO MICHELLE. I love you.
Fantastic 1st night of the Convention: Tammy Duckworth, Ted Strictland, Lilly Ledbetter, Duval Patrick, Julian Castro & Mrs. Obama. All were great speakers. I agree with everyone here, Mrs. O’s speech was a home run. Thanks Chips for the video clips and photos.
Michelle Obama is such an inspiration not only to Americans but to so many around the world. America you did good four years ago. You can do good again. OBAMA 2012.
The sender of the above comment “Waugh……” should be RosesForObama. I know it is a very small detail in an universal context, but maybe You can correct it Chipsticks, Thank You beforehand!
So tell the Republicans ain’t no one buying their crap about last night no one mention the thing that the people care most about. More GOP lies. What do you think helping the middle class mean? The Republicans know the Democrats first night was a 25 on a scale of 1-10. And they are worry about Bill Clinton coming up next.
One of the wonderful things about Michelle Obama – everyone loves her – doesn’t matter the race or the sex. She speaks to everyone – it’s like she is just looking at you – and acknowledging you.
I was out all day in my world and now at 7pm – have lots of catching up to do – before you all start over.

Good morning TOD Community!!! I accidentally fell asleep last night, after being up at 3:30 in the morning to catch a flight that day. So I was so mad that I missed the First Lady’s speech, but I woke up around 2 in the morning and caught the reruns, and OH MY GOD! I couldn’t stop crying. I desperately wished at that moment to be able to watch it with a group like folks on TOD, just so we could have a group hug!!!
I LOVED the life video they showed of Michelle Obama and it just made me think how much she’s done and what an Amazing & CLASSY lady to do all this, despite the racist hatred thrown her way by Conservative Right Wing GARBAGE!
She rises above and she shows how it’s done with grace & brilliance! I love our First Lady. I think that law about 2 terms should be abolished briefly. Because She is today’s Eleanor Roosevelt. We need both the President and First Lady to fix all the problems for our kids future.
Given that I’m wishing for the moon…I’d like to temporarily abolish the GOP Party, as clearly they are a waste of taxpayer money! That should help shrink the deficit!!!
Speaking of which, your quotes of the day: âThe people of America recognize that the slowdown in jobs that occurred during the early years of the Bush administration were the result of a perfect storm.â (Mitt Romney, 2004) âGovernor Romney inherited an economy that was losing jobs each month and left office with an economy that was adding jobs each month.â (Romney campaign statement, May 30, 2012)
She left me speechless. I am so proud of her and her family.
I am in 100% agreement with you Scott!
You Rock! TY!
Please?
Top 3 ain’t bad. In the words of Stevie, “Isn’t she lovely?!” I will answer my own question. YES SHE IS!!!!!
Beautiful.
evening everyone (afternoon for me)…I watched this entire DNC convention…(so glad I’m a SB owner đ ) incredible passion. Truth telling, that’s what it is.
Love that dress and the shoes are so cute.
She looked absolutely fantastic – exquisite.
theo67, I agree 100%
Goodnight {{{{{{{CHIPS}}}}}}}! Goodnight TOD!
I’m so proud of our First Lady! I look forward to seeing her on stage again on Thursday after our President gives his acceptance speech.
Good night all. What a wonderful way to end the day. I watched the convention with #2 (24 years old). she was on her Twitter feed as she watched. Michelle, Our Belle! Just so beautiful. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Wow…Best. Convention. Ever. The enthusiasm and joy and heart on display were a sight to behold. Who knew politics could be so fun? #ratings
And that was only the first of three nights!
Michelle Obama was flawless from start to finish. She left me breathless and speechless.
She was absolutely magnificent…
Michelle knocked it out of the park! It’s not how much you make, it’s about how you affect people’s lives. That did it for me.
Thanks for all of it, Chips. Wonderful!
Goodnight, TOD!
Michelle’s workin’ the blue gray nail polish!
Wow, what a day. Absolutely inspired by all.
Not only was everything just flawless, but I didn’t hear one lie. That, alone, was worth the price of admission, as they say!
OMG… just got back from OFA work and finished watching the speeches. I’m so fired up, I’m shaking. Can’t go to sleep… what to do????
Didn’t they live stream the speech at OFA?
It was a team meeting because we have a HUGE convention watch party on Thursday and we needed to figure how to best channel the enthusiasm of all the new volunteers that have signed up to attend. So it was a working meeting…
Gotcha Rita. Thanks for all the hard work.
Thanks, amk đ We’re all doing our part!
Michelle Obama was simply perfect! I liked so many of the speeches today, but hers was in a class by itself. Wow – can anyone top that?!
Just stay here with the rest of us! It’ll get you in training to stay up on Thursday night – I think that’s going to be an all-nighter.
Not only did I cry listening to her speech, but reading all the loving comments, reactions to her speech kept me tearing for quite a while afterward. Still overwhelmed by her speech.
Thanks for those pictures Chips. My links to MSNBainC keeps buffering.
So, I have been getting a lot of my News from here and CNN.
Are you in Charlotte? Are you in a tent? Hotel?
Cottage. In Asheville.
Thank You Chipsticks. Good Night TOD Family. What a Barn Burning Nite….DEMOCRATS ARE BURNING UP SEPTEMBER, TALK ABOUT GLOBAL WARMNG!
So in awe! More than ever before. Who knew that was even possible?
Profane, yes. Funny as hell, Absolutely. Tweet from Clay Aiken about Michelle’s speech…
Clay Aiken: She just whooped Ann Romneyâs a** so hard that Annâs horse felt it!!! #michelle2016
So glad I put my drink down before reading this! Oh that was soooo good! đ đ đ
Clay Aiken, you told the truth. Ann Romney can’t even compare to our FLOTUS.
The haters can hate, but nothing will change the fact that we not only have a beautiful first lady but a very intelligent one as well. Many successful follks give credit to a teacher who made an indelible impact on their life….
being against the teachers union plays into the anti union meme of todays Republican Party…

Morning everyone…..
What a night……it was big election day yesterday where I live, in Quebec……
I had the tv on for the elections and I was watching the convention on Cspan…..
It was like watching a tennis match….back and forth back and forth….
One thing that got my complete attention was the amazing FLOTUS…..I was very very moved by her speech…..I love her….
I fell asleep not too long after her speech……
I woke up this morning with this and I’m VERY upset : Quebec PQ Leader Marois Being Rushed Off Stage By Bodyguards During Assassination Attempt.
1 dead, 1 critically wounded in shooting at victory speech by new premier of Quebec, Pauline Marois.
Crazy world….I don’t know what’s going on but it is very upsetting.
OMG Christi so sorry for Canada
This is horrible. Prayers to all who are affected.
i heard about this driving in to work this morning – what a troubling and upsetting event for everyone.
Look at all those disappointed Delegates. LOL!
CNN coverage is pretty good, at least it’s fair. Just saying.
I watch C-Span or MSNBC. Do not like TeaNN.
WE WERE NOT PLACED ON THIS EARTH TO SEE THROUGH EACH OTHER…BUT TO SEE EACH OTHER THROUGH! THERE IS A STRONG AND VITAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN CONVENTIONS. FIRST LADY MICHELLE AND ALL OTHERS WERE EXAMPLES OF THE REALITIES IN LIFE,THE GENUINE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL STRUGGLES IN LIFE, THE AMAZING EXAMPLES OF PERSEVERANCE THAT KEEP OUR HEARTS BEATING STRONGER AND IN UNISON EVERYDAY. GM, Sue. Have to say again, it is so wonderful to have you back. Blessed day to you and rest of our family.
I’m off in a few for blood work before my yearly physical next week.
GOOD MORNING BACK AT YOU…THE FIRST NIGHT OF THE CONVENTION WAS SUCH A SHINING LIGHT HOVERING WELL OVER THE DARKNESS WHERE THE REPUBLICANS DWELL!
Sue! So good to see you here! Many of us have been thinking about you, missing you.
Good morning, Sue:) You have been missed around here…good to see you back in great form:) All you said is true….
{{{{SUE}}}} We have soooo missed you!!!
I HAVE NEVER BEEN VERY FAR AWAY…I FOLLOW PBO EVERYDAY…I’M HIS SHADOW!…:)
hahahha……we all are, Sue.
I figured as much.;)
I sent you an email last month letting you know we here at TOD were thinking about you. Now seeing you here today has really made my day.
Im off to work.
Have a great productive O’Day everyone!
GM Sueeeeee…goood to see you…
and i love that first statement of yours…
Yay Sue! I dig the first line – “WE WERE NOT PLACED ON THIS EARTH TO SEE THROUGH EACH OTHERâŚBUT TO SEE EACH OTHER THROUGH!”
Glad to see you again! đ
Oh thanks, DF! I’ve been humming this all morning.
Me too!! Just HAD to post this….fits perfectly:)
THANK YOU…I AM A LITTLE MORE PHYSICALLY LIMITED THESE DAYS…UNABLE TO TRAVEL TO THE CONVENTION…BUT, I WILL BE VOTING FOR MY PRESIDENT. I PRAY FOR HIM ALL THE TIME AND THE REPUBLICANS MUST BE DEFEATED…FORWARD!
Good to see and hear from you again. I, too, pray daily for the First Family.
Michelle took my breath away. Just love the photo of PBO and the girls watching her speech.
