If I was to post all the highlights, we’d be here until 2096 watching them …
That was just a breathtaking night, what a truly wonderful collection of speakers and life stories.
Check all the Charlotte posts and comments tonight for lots more videos…. here are just a few:
WOW
MO had me with tears in my eyes…when you have something good, America, please don’t let it go..FORWARD
I had tears streaming down my face as Michelle talked. How heartfelt she was/is!
Me too. And I keep watching her speech because I want to learn every word of it. I want it to seep way, way down in my heart. Two of my favorite line one personal “We were so young, so in love and so in debt” and “being President doesn’t change you, it reveals you.” There were so many others but right now those are the ones that came to mind now. I love Michelle Obama and I love PBO so much. That picure of he and his girls watching their mother and his wife was also revealing. PBO looked like it was total love and pride. And no man will ever abuse his daughters because they know what real love is based on how he treats their mother and how he treats them. Just beautiful and awesome!!
I also loved the bit where she talked about achieving success and not shutting the door against others, but instead reaching back to pull up and bring through others…
What a night indeed!
Wasn’t Mrs Obama just magnificent…
She is authentic, brilliant, empathetic, grounded, stunning…
It is imperative she and President Obama get another 4 years to not only move us forward, but to guard the hard won change they’ve been able to secure for Americans – particularly the middle class and those without a voice…
OMG, that was MAGNIFICENT. WOW. WOW. WOW.
‘Wow. Wow. wow.” Indeed! I just listened to the First lady I was totally blown off by the power of her speech. Equally powerful were the speeches of Mayor Castro and Gov. Patrick. What a truly fabulous opening night for my Democratic party.
I’m in love.
Me too! 🙂
We are the luckiest people on the planet. What a speech! We are the American Dream.
My thoughts exactly. This country is so lucky to have Michelle Obama and Barack Obama willing to withstand what they’ve withstood – and persevere for this country and its future. So lucky.
FLOTUS’ gorgeous dress is by Tracy Reese. Just stunning.
Took my breath away!
Oh Chips! A wonderful end to a wonderful night! Thank you!
WOW! Michelle killed it!
MICHELLE! MICHELLE! MICHELLE! Wow, oh My goodness, how blessed are WE?! YES. WE. ARE! 😆
Best speech ever!!!! MO had much of the audience and myself in tears. She was so beautiful, moving, eloquent and so comfortable in her skin and in her message. Just loved everything a bout this night, and Michelle was the queen of the night. We are so lucky to have her.
I’m SO SORRY I didn’t get to see it!
You will get a chance to see it, I’m sure. She was amazing. There were so many amazing speeches tonight but Michelle was the best.
Looking in Michelle’s eyes and seeing the glistering of tear, I started to cry. Great Speech Michelle. We love you!
Me too! 😀
I know – I was hoping that she could hold it together to finish the speech – the rest of us were in tears…
I don’t know why she does that when she CLEARLY knows everybody will cry with her. lolol Nothing like seeing a strong woman cry.
Michelle Obama owned the night! Bravo!
Yes she did! She certainly made proud all those AA mothers and grandmothers who struggled so hard to ensure that their children and grand children will some time get a chance to let their little lights shine.” By the way, the speeches by Mayor Castro and Gov. Patrick were equally powerful. I am so proud to be a Democrat.
Oh my god, when the hell did Sasha grow up?!
At sleepover camp.
😆
I thought the same thing … oh my goodness, she is a lady now. It was more expected with Malia … but, but Sasha was supposed to be the baby!
No more baby…..they are all young ladies.
Wow -eeee! What a night! 😆 😆 😆 😆 I could feel the excitement throughout the entire evening, Wow-eee! Thanks, Chips Chica, this was a wonderful journey and you were an excellent driver!
LOVE
Thank you, Chipsticks! {{{{{{{TOD}}}}}}} Goodnight everyone, and rest well, there is much work to be done tomorrow!
I think the most wonderful thing of all, Michelle never once said the name of the GOP nominee… Not once.
Oh What a day indeed!
I still have to go back to catch up as I do not want to me ANYTHING!
Thank you Chips for this site. Its wonderful to follow the day – step by step!
Should be “miss” not “me”
What boundless love!!! An amazing person.
Thank you Chips for all you have done to make this day even more special!!!!
#FORWARD …. Together
Amen. And Amen. Thank you bobfr!
Thank you Bob for expressing so well everything I felt today. You are so amazing in your ability to accurately represent many of us who support President Obama. I hope the President will eventually get to know people like you and Chipsticks, and the many people on this space, who worked so hard behind the scenes to support him. Every time I feel discouraged your tweets are there to uplift me.
Wow. What an amazing speech!!!! Touching.
Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle, Michelle…
… and Michelle.
Never seen anything like that. It was powerfully moving. I don’t mean to sound overconfident but Lord she may of won this thing tonight.
I was thinking the same, right after I wiped my tears off my Cheek.
Very well put together Convention, DNC is really doing a great job.
This Convention is fabulous!
I hear you. She is so authentic, so open, so direct, so emotionally compelling without any artifice whatsoever = WIN WIN WIN.
The First Lady’s speech was utterly fantastic. They talked about how she connected with the people in the convention hall. Let me tell you, that connection went right through the television. She is truly something special. It is a special gift to be able to connect emotionally with people the way she does. And they say Ms. Ann is some kind of secret weapon? Great first day of the Convention for the democrats, messaging was on point and the presentation was very professional and polished. Great positive energy.
You are not alone, Donna! At 66, soon to be 67, I’ve seen my share of conventions. But after listening to the First lady’s speech I just can’t remember of any other speaker who so energized the convention. I also thought that Gov. Patrick’s speech was excellent and so was Mayor Castro’s keynote speech. But Michelle made me cry. I wished Gloria Richardson, Daisy Bates, Fannie Lou Hamer, Correta Scott King, and Ella Baker, had been around to witness her speech. On the other hand, I know that there are still thousands of SNCC women who are around and whose hearts must be full because their long and difficult struggles were not in vain. Tonight, America witnessed a genuine First Lady who knows exactly where she and her husband came from and struggles they had to overcome to be where they are. But America also witnessed a woman who is more interested in looking forward than in looking backwards.
The look on Barack’s face, like, that’s my baby up there.
How immensely proud and full of love he must be at this moment!!
Love the photo of PBO with the girls all cuddled up next to him watching mom.
WOW, WOW, WOW!!!! Michelle is FIERCE!!! LOVE HER!!!
THIS ISONPRIZE!!!!!! OMG, WHAT A SPEECH AND WHAT A NIGHT.
FLOTUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
There were a lot of great speeches tonight, but Michelle Obama was simply amazing!! Wow!
Michelle made me cry.
“Being president doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are.”
She is the best first lady of my life. I love her to pieces.
THAT, was an excellent speech by our First Lady, and was a fantastic program. I am proud to be a democrat.
My goodness, my goodness…..we see the power of love here, of husband and children, connecting with the love of country.
beautiful!
Brilliant.
“Brilliant,” Indeed, Meta! The First Lady was simply amazing. She had to follow the equally brilliant speeches by mayor Emanuel, Gov. Patrick , and keynote speaker Mayor Castro. This opening night for the Democrats was truly exceptional.
So, even Chuck can catch a clue when it’s smacks him between the eyes ….
Who gives a rat’s patootie about your vantage point Chuckles? floor or otherwise. This is not and never will be about YOU and/or your effiing vantage point. SUCH. AN. EFFING. DOOOFUS. The strength and elegance of FLOTUS’ character was revealed tonite as well.
Bobfr, how do I embed a tweet in here?
You right click or otherwise copy the time stamp of the tweet (for instance, in the Twitter app you will see in the upper right hand corner of each tweet a time or date). Then, all you need to do is open a comment here and paste the link. Select Post Comment and your done 🙂
Chuckie my boy, you are so right for once. Michelle Obama is respected and loved.
WOW!!!!!! I won’t be able to sleep tonight after all those great speeches. ESPECIALLY MICHELLE’S! She put her foot in that speech for real!!! And I see on twitter that CBS says she wrote it herself and practiced/went over it for a month.
Yeah, Lawry said she wrote it too! Damn! She killed that speech. I need to rematch that one, pronto! I wanna turn back time and watch it again. She was perfect!
YES!
The bar is officially raised higher than the sky right now. Those pinched up prune faced Repubs gotta get busy if they think they can top this. TAKE THAT!!!! Yeah, we’re moving FORWARD ———–> not <—————-backward
Indeed, cookemom! We are moving Forward and not backward. Tonight all the Democrats who spoke shined. And then came our fabulous First Lady who totally ignited the convention. She absolutely re-affirmed the reasons why we’ve put our faith in her husband, and our beloved, President Obama. Today I am so proud that I am a Democrat. All the Democrats who spoke today, plus the tribute to Sen. Teddy Kennedy, renewed my faith in the party as the party that is all about inclusiveness and moving the country forward.
Now I can watch all the videos Chips has posted. Tomorrow I am watching online. My husband would not let go of the remote and I was subjected to all kinds of garbage and punditry! Thank God Chips is here.
I feel your pain … went up to the mancave to watch with hubby on the biggest tv in the house; he watched it on CNN (TeaNN) and so I took my sandwich, chardonnay, and left … to my bedroom livestreaming from here to CSPAN, than catching up on comments here. Much, much better.
You wised up quicker than I did. My husband is the ADD type who is constantly flicking from one channel to another. Drives me crazy. I had a nice glass of red wine and a sandwich too. Tomorrow I will do CSPAN and stock up on chocolate.
Thank goodness, a new thread. Was slowing.
I am worn out emotionally, but in a good way. In all the years that i have watched conventions, I have never seen anything like what we have seen tonight; so much passion, and heart, and smarts; such diversity and togetherness; so many on message; so much truth-telling and fierceness. Even more proud of being a Democrat. Still so over-whelmed by Michelle.
Co-signed, if you don’t mind. It was just a beautiful evening from beginning to end. Passion and heart. Forward!
signed again….in my 69 yrs, never have I been so awe struck…..Barack is going to have a hard time topping Michelle…and everyone else was marvelous….JUST AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT AND YES, I’M YELLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OUR FIRST LADY WAS DOUBLY AWESOME AND SO WAS EVERYONE ELSE…GREAT CONVENTION…FORWARD!
{{{{{{{{{{{SUE}}}}}}}}}} is it really YOU? Oh, Happy Day! Oh Happy Day! Yes, yes. Yes, we can, we are, we will! Sue!
Sue, it is good to have you back. Welcome home.
((((((((((SUE))))))))))) you’re back!!
YEA, SUE. It is SO wonderful to ‘see’ you!
{{{{{{SUUUUUUUUUE!!!!}}}}}
Great to see you back Sue, hope all’s good.
Have missed your posts. glad to see you.
Oh Sue. I am so happy to see you. We have wondered where you were and hoped you were ok. I remember the work you did with the homeless and often hoped you were in good health and that you would come back.
Great to see you Sue. You have been missed!!
Well HELLO SUE!!!! You’re Back…welcome back. It’s so nice to see you here again 🙂 🙂 🙂
Sue Duvall Smith, how are you? I’ve been half stepping on reading TOD over the last few days while visiting with family. It’s good to see you post, cause it’s been awhile. I’ve often thought about you and hope things are well. You do not “know” me, but know you were missed, and it’s good to ‘see” you. 🙂
Welcome back Sue! 😀
It’s all up to each of us …
Nickey Minaj must be feeling real stoooopid right about now.
What “brilliance” did she spout?
She has a song out with Lil Wayne where she says in the lyrics that she’s voting for Romney. I don’t know if she meant it, or if it just rhymed with some other word. You never know with the young ‘uns
Ok, I know I’m old, but who s Nickey and why should I care???
She’s a very popular female rapper. You shouldn’t care really, I don’t. The only thing is she is very influential among the young group. Probably not the voting age ones, I think her appeal goes a little younger. I admit I do like some of her songs.
You shouldn’t care. At all.
Huh?
28,003 tweets per minute after FLOTUS speech vs. 14,289 per minute after Romney’s speech.
WOW. I think half of them were mine. I’m in twitter jail again. HUMPHHHHHHH.
😳
with apologies to the Four Seasons ~~
Oh what a night, Four September here in Twenty Twelve!! What a lady, what a NIGHT!!!
There really aren’t any words to describe what she just did. She epitomized everything we stand for, all that we aspire to be. I’m flabberghasted,
I know, right?
yes she was mesmerizing. I just read she took a month to write it… so no doubt from her own heart & experiences.
Fineman is a dumba***
Yes he is.
Amen.
I am starting to loathe that man.
just tweeted him that it was so nice of him and Mark Warner to remind me to run out, get, and pay for my yard sign…Was there anything else intelligent he could add?
He’s a real P.O.S.
OMG, Michelle was great!!! (as usual!!) She looked beautiful and her speech was inspiring, profound, and THE TRUTH!!! I had to get up and move when they started playing “get me bodied” at the end of the speech. Well, I actually was already standing up, but I did bust a move!! And that pic of the President and the girls is adorable!!! 4 MORE YEARS!!!! No ifs, ands , or buts about it!!!!!!
PS. The line “I found out that being president doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are,” was the comment of the night!! This shit is real y’all and we better do all we can to keep it!!
I’m telling y’all, Michelle is the truth. She was just as mesmerizing tonight on t.v. as when I saw her. Such presence, such magnetism, such warmth, such authenticity.
Wow, even this conservative guy liked it
WHOA.
High praise coming from the RWer.
And the problem is…..? Let’s just stay here til 2096 and watch all the highlights … just kidding, but yeah, what a night! Thanks for being here; thanks for imbedding certain videos, thanks for everything. Now back up to scroll down through and read all the comments. I am in awe! What a night to be a Democrat!
Wow indeed. A powerful and heart warming speech from First Lady Michelle Obama. What is so great about this is that the World knows that this is the real thing, we have seen her “up close and personal” too these past few years.
We don’t need anyone to tell us anything about this night or the First Lady’s speech, we experienced it. Love love love FLOTUS Michelle Obama.
I loved this statement for it’s clarity, and the instant recognition it brought to all of us who were listening. Immediately, did we not all think of past presidents whose natures were indeed ‘revealed’, and our disappointment lingers to this day. I scanned over the presidents in my lifetime and found only one or two who still make the grade. PBO will outlive them all in his dedication to all people, all beings and all the highest levels of honor humans can reach. He is so unique! He is so loved! We are so blessed!
so blessed, yes!!
also, i couldn’t help but think about myth–what would be revealed if he were to become (ack!) prez? i imagine many people let their minds play with that notion, and then we all ran to the bathroom to throw up!
I’m so glad our convention was second.
me too, and also i’m glad it’s so soon after theirs–the contrast is stark, and instructive.
I was thinking exactly this earlier too.
Me to CollegeKay! This opening day was absolutely amazing! From all the speeches i’ve just now watched, all the speakers were marvelous. Of course the First Lady was just incredible. I am waiting to see how the MSM try to spin this to give the GOP the advantage.
Why did I turn on MSNBC?
I watched Current TV & C-Span. I refuse to turn on MSNBC!
I watched on PBS and muted the TV whenever they moved from the floor to the pundits. I do not need Gwen, David and company to rain on my parade or to tell me what i saw and heard. I never gave a f–k about any pundits opinions beause i have my own, better informed ones, thank you very much. Let us bask in and enjoy what we experienced for ourselves.
C-Span for me. It was wonderful….no pundits, no interruptions.
Me too, so glad I stayed with CSPAN.
C-Span running on desktop / MSNBC on TV. Unfortunately, my cable co doesn’t carry Current.
Leave it to ole Fineman to be the downer in any room.
I don’t give Fineman the opportunity to depress me, Alycee, because when he appears on my TV, I always change the channel. I have no use for pundits who wouldn’t tell the truth if it took a huge chunk of their brain out of their freaking heads.
Happy Birthday, Alycee! Hope your day was happy and fun.
one of the tweets said, ‘she crushed him without mentioning him’–that’s our powerful flotus!
Michael Steele @Steele_Michael
Michele Obama gave a very good speech. period. It was a big speech, very well done.
There’s a smear campaign against Charlie Crist. It’s sponsored by the Florida repukes. Ha! Asses.
Ms. Greenspan is just as bad as ole Fineman.
Text of FLOTUS speech here:
http://www.npr.org/2012/09/04/160578836/transcript-michelle-obamas-convention-speech?ft=1&f=1001&sc=tw&utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
Oh lordy, lordy, WHO is that sitting at PBO’s left, my right? 😯
C’mon VC, you know very well who that little beauty is!
Can’t believe my eyes, Pamela, can’t believe my eyes! I blinked, and she’s changed so much. Lovely to see, though.
CNN has their skivvies in a bit of a twist tryin’ to put a spin on what FLOTUS actually meant and it’s overall effectiveness. There was more excitement in the place because it was larger than the RNC venue and held more people…..And the Yellin babe wasn’t sure whether it was true about the Obama student loans……No wonder CNN’s ratings are in the toilet.
Then there’s Andrea Greenspan trying to get a negative response or comment.
Right on yardarm756. It does bring about a measure of sadness when some people just want others to be negative along with them. They do not see beyond their little space that has so little beauty within it, that they try so hard to make the taste of life so ugly and distasteful.
You would think they would think of the many young women all over the world who were touched tonight by our beautiful First Lady’s speech. One of these young ladies will probably be First Lady someday and will remember the beauty that they came away with from FLOTUS’s words.
I have seen many First Ladies, but I must say, First Lady Obama really has been the best ever. I do hope that a young lady somewhere tonight was encouraged by First Lady Michelle Obama.
We have so much to be so grateful for in seeing both of our Ladies there tonight. Dr. Biden was so moved as you could tell from her body language. I was crying so hard, and I know that my heart was so moved by her words. My space tonight was graced by her lovely spoken words and her beauty.HZ

LOL. Love it!
Baravo, Bravo Chris!Rock Sister Michelle totally “Rocked” this evening. She surely made my mother proud!
I thought Deval Patrick rocked. He said we are not going to let President Obama be bullied. He called out the Rethugs. He had me shouting.
Governor Patrick is a great Governor, top ten in States, for Jobs.
Gov. Patrick was great and so was Mayor Castro! Actually all the speakers today were excellent! I mean all of them!
Annibella,
Your Girl done good. She never disappoints.
Michelle’s speech was fantastic, historic, incredible.
One of my favorite lines: “For Barack, success isn’t about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.”
She just summed up in a few words what Barack Obama is all about, and WHY he should be re-elected.
I’m still stunned about what I heard tonight. The heart, the truth, the humanity !
Wow, again. Wow.
She spoke to us so intimately, as if we were all seated together on a couch while she shared her heart with us. No other First Lady or political spouse has even come close. The Obamas are the true Game Changers.
Okay…I admit it. I was in tears throughout her speech. Not sure if its hormones or I was completely overwhelmed with remembering her speech at the last convention and the very pleasant difference with tonight’s speech. The elegance, warmth and her ability to connect with that entire room was magnificent to witness. She was stunning or as the kids said….’Michelle….KILT….it!!’
Delurking to say, one of my fav lines is when she mentions her dad working, supporting his family – to him that is being a man … that was a simply ‘wow’ moment for me, if young men all over can’t hear that … then that message is truly lost. Thank you Chips! Also, where in the world is Snark??? He’s the reason I am on Twitter … not that I check it much but … :o)
Sadly this Canadian can’t vote, but c’mon America, we need PBO for another 4 years !!!
Hey, fellow Canadian! 🙂
That was the key sentence of her speech and the night——perfectly sums up who Barack Obama is. That is him in a nutshell. An extraordinary person, as is his wife who did him proud tonight.
This was truly a tour de force! First Lady Michelle Obama is amazing. Now I know why our incredible President fell in love with her. She is the perfect companion. She is not only extremely intelligent, but she is also a very warm, caring, down to earth, and compassionate person. Her speech tonight will go down in history as one of the most humane and caring speeches given by the First Lady of the United States.
My God. She was the radiance of the sun embodied, then she spoke and like an earthquake shook everyone to their core. Simply too amazing for words
Even though Romney paid for his tweets to be promoted, Michelle Obama still beat him by a landslide.
Thanks, was just going to post this; glad I refreshed first.
Slept over the convention. Need to watch the speech later on.
Oh, dude, you blew it.
Dozy 🙄
It’s fricking 5 am here. While you sleepyheads are in bed, I will have my own moments with the speech. Ha.
Enough already with the time-zone excuses, amk, while you were sleeping Charlotte was rocking. Severely.
RevengeM.O.’s speech is the dish best served cold. She set off the richter scale out here in Seattle! I am sure the entire country was vibrating on a very high level! I sure know I was!
Well, you are going to freak because it was Michelle Obama to the nth power. And beyond. To infinity. +1,000,000,000. Absolutely MAGNIFICENT.
I bet it was. Every one is going Lady Gaga over it. I am flying to Joburg shortly from Cape Town. Prolly will enjoy it in another 3 hours.
You are a busy bee. Safe travels!
AMK, you will not be disappointed. The First Lady was incredible. I hope the President will be able to top her. As far as I am concerned all the speakers today were excellent; especially Mayor Castro and Gov. Patrick.
What a beautiful First Lady and an inspiring speech!!! Thank you Chips and the TOD family for making this site possible, us lurkers are grateful!!!
mia farrow @MiaFarrow
I knew tonight would be great but it was SPECTACULAR and UNFORGETTABLE
What the heck is Michael Steel talking about. “There are a lot of similarities between Michelle and Ann Romney’s speech! STFU!
Oh, I’m on Palladia now. No need to watch our “betters” tell us what we should think about tonight.
He should just shut up. He’s making himself ridiculous.
Poor Michael Steele! He is still working very hard for right wing GOIP approval.
I can’t believe we are only on Day 1 of the Convention. That was magnificent, start to finish. Whoever did the planning has a brain and a heart. FLOTUS just rocked it till it fell out.
Somewhere Mitt and Ann Freakin Romney are in the fetal position.
excellent comment meta. indeed a heart & a brain.. many hearts & brains went into this blockbuster tonight. Nothing a repub or a pundit can say can take away all that we received tonight.
Especially since the Repubs and pundits seem to have neither hearts or brains.
Well said Meta! The opening day of the Democratic convention was absolutely “magnificent.” All the speeches were excellent! Then, of course, came the First lady’s incredible speech, which put the icing on today’s speeches. I don’t care what the MSM pundits say, but I am absolutely sure that people who watched this first day of the Democratic convention were thoroughly impressed.
eggcellent.
oh. my. goodness. the entire night was beyond what i could’ve ever predicted. totally positive, and totally off the chain!! i never had any doubt about the obamas staying in the white house, but now we’ve got to use the momentum everyone tonight built, especially first lady obama, and get president obama the house back, and a stronger senate. let’s go, y’all. michelle asked you tonight for some help. let’s do this. now!!!!
YES WE CAN
That is bloody fantastic news!
Here you go, Mark! https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/Pamela Open for donations! 😆
DNC- 100
RNC- 0
Yeah. It’s like, we have all been complaining about messaging, and then it all came together Tonight.
I am delighted, and very happy.
wait what??? Who complained about messaging? Not me Jovie. I have never complained about PO and the administrations messaging.
Me neither.
Neither have I.
no, you and and few others have been complaining. most of us can see all along that tonight is the same messaging leading democrats always have, and tonight we’re able to see it without the billionaire filter which we call “the news,” which is designed to divide and conquer democratic support. that highlights the problem with focusing so much on what joe scarborough and other billionaire-paid pundits say day in and day out. you fall right into their traps of division, drama, and doubt. hopefully after tonight, you and the small handful of other obama-backers will finally realize this and move forward, not back, and stop being chicken littles about everything that’s on “the news” every single day. i do not need to know what they say…i can tell you right now what they’ll be saying tomorrow and next months. they are preprogrammed robots by the billionaires….literally…i’m not joking. forward!!! you in?
LOL! LMAO! LOL! Hahaha!
Good one! I needed that joke. Thank you! LOL!
glad you’re happy. laughter is the best medicine. so building upon the positivity, i can save you a lot of time tomorrow so that you can focus your time and energy into getting back the house and making the senate stronger, and let you know right now that joe scarborough will complain about the “divisiveness” of the democrats on the first day of the dnc, and mika will nod her head approvingly and perhaps throw out a few, “hey now, i didn’t think it was ALL negative…c’mon let’s be fair” comments. commercial break. repeat times 10. there, now you don’t have to watch it tomorrow, and you don’t need to be a stenographer for the show here at “the obama diary.” you’re welcome, in advance.
But but but what about all the Volunteering I do for OFA and the hundreds of dollars I have donated and oh yeah, just to be in yor presence everyday is just breathtaking and…
well, i’m flattered. thank you. no drama obama all the way. forward!!
May I add polls to your comment. Even on Twitter there are people who post polls every single day. Please. ENOUGH!
LOL. Same People different Day.
Boring…
In other news, how about Michelle?
Now that is a First lady!
holla!!!!
LOL.
Jovie, is that you? All very delighted? This camping thing as YOU practise it keeps looking better and better. 😆 😆 A unified party with a strong message and delegates who don’t have to be pumped up. Yes, it has all come together beautifully, and makes me ask, what are they going to do tomorrow night? 😉
Oops, Jovie, when I started to write mine there was no other comment – I was teasing. I had no intent to get on your case, okay? This is such a lovely, happy night that I want to keep it that way.
See, now that’s what I mean when I say to chillax, we got this. Can’t let the chatterers make us bite our nails. They do what they do, we do us. Glad you’re delighted and very happy. Remember this feeling the next time you hear something that sets your teeth on edge.
LOL!
You see Jovie, the problem has never been about messaging. Rather, the problem was the MSM media that either refused to transmit the message or totally distorted the message. This time, American people get to hear directly from Democrats without going through the MSM filters.
Did Chuck Todd just say to Strickland, any regrets for going so rough on Romney?
Really?
Yes he did. Strickland did not back down. They clobbered the Republicans tonight with the truth.
up-chuck! What a whiny-hiney!
yes he did and Strickland’s response was . . . not only no but HELL NO! lolol
I thought Gov. Strickland’s speech was great. There is nothing he said that was not true. I felt the same way about Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid’s speech. Both men exposed Romney’s false pretensions that he “Believes In America.” How can you believe in America and still do everything to avoid paying taxes by banking and investing in foreign countries. I especially liked this line from Leader Reid: “Trust must be based on transparency.” So far, Mitt Romney has not been forthcoming when it comes to “transparency.” How then can Americans trust him?
What a woman! What a speech!
I ran in late and instantly turned on PBS. Well, that Gwen lady and the other pundits were really getting on my nerves. Completely forgot about tunning in on my IPad. Each speech came so fast and furious I did not want to miss anything and the pundits did not have time to spin, elaborate or interject their opinons. It just kept coming at ya…….boom, bam zoom!
It felt like a Quiet Storm! So classy, beautiful, lovely/ Strong! Fierce! In your face truth!
All done in the name of love…….
I watched C-Span so that I did not have to deal with all of the punditry. I turned over for a little while after Michelle spoke. Michelle’s dress was simple and stunning.
Cliff Schecter @cliffschecter
Is there any rule against letting Michelle Obama speak every night? #p2 #DNC2012
The accolades on Twitter for Michelle Obama are just incredible, it’s so uplifting. I am not going to entertain one negative comment from whatever negative nelly pundits out there. Not tonight.
Honestly, I believe that Barack Obama is a huge inspiration to people.. he has succeeded in bringing out the compassion of people.. this was the most heartwarming & humane convention nights I’ve seen. Love & care went into it.. and I believe leadership has everything to do with it, the leadership he inspires, the inclusion he inspires in so many folks. They really brought the internal beauty outward tonight.
THIS!!
True. The leader sets the tone. I love how he insists on civility at all times; will not let crowds ‘”boo” or let others make personal comments about his opponents. The repubs had a hatefest and we have a lovefest.
YESSSSS!!! SHERIJR!!!!
Yes. He. Does.
Sherijr, I Agree with you 100%! All the speeches I listened to today were inspirational, compassionate and uplifting. I mean all of them! Then came the incredible First Lady’s speech which was simply the icing on this absolutely marvelous opening night of the Democratic convention. I am so proud that I am a Democrat. I also truly admire all the Democrats who spoke today, both ordinary folks as well as elected officials. The depth of the speakers’ humanity was absolutely inspirational.
Real assessment:
Just when I thought I couldn’t love either one of them any more – BOOM. More and more and more.
Yes! Meta
Ha!
Hahahahahaa…I feel this tweet. Pres. Obama might want to enlist FLOTUS’s help. Nah…..he’s got this. 😀
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! What a First Lady we have. She walked out there looking like a million bucks, and she made me proud. I can only imagine how Barack, her Mom, her brother, and her kids felt. WOW!!!!
I knew Michelle would show Ann Romney how it’s done. If I could have sent Ann a email, it would have said, get ready to see how it’s done.
Anniebella, her brother was brushing away a few tears as well as his wife when FLOTUS finished. Maya also was moved. The camera came around to them just as our FLOTUS completed her speech.
I enjoyed the entire evening. Everything was done very tastefully. A couple of governors tore up Willard tonight. Did you see the look on POB’s face as he was sitting there with our lovely First Daughters? Love all over the place. HZ
Remember to donate. Let our FLOTUS know how much we loved her speech!
trying again to post part 2
Just spent 3 hours watching this thing…OMG. Our Michelle! Tears were flowing….Duvall Patrick….out of the park! What a great start to a wonderful convention. I’m not sticking around…I woke at 4:30am…and I need to sleep now:) I’m so proud to be a Dem…proud to hear about the kind of America that I envision…not some hate filled, you’re on your own abomination. Night everyone…see you in the morning….
One more thing: Michelle’s dress….she killed in that tonight! Beautifiul!!!!! Thank you,Chips:) I’m with LL…what the heck happened to Sasha?!!! What a stunning young woman she has grown to be.
Chris Matthews complimented the FLOTUS on her dress and overall look. She looked wonderful.
Me too. Watched the whole thing on CSPAN. What a treat not to hear the pundits, instead heard all those speeches. I wasn’t sure Michelle could top Patrick and the mayor from San Antonio (sorry minds blanked out as to his name) but boy was I wrong! She was incredible and I was so proud of her, I just couldn’t stop crying. Incredible night. Can’t wait until tomorrow night.
Hi Betsy. Hope you are healing beautifully. I watched from C-SPAN also, and it was so peaceful to not be able to hear the rude people speaking over the speaker.
I was so moved by our First Lady, and I think that all of the other speakers did an excellent job. Everything seem to flow very nicely. I love the thematic presenting of what POB’s has done and showing how each speaker solo or group presentation decimated the naysayers. POB and Team always are several steps ahead of these small thinking people. I could feel the uplifting but firmness in the voices of each speaker. How about our Harry. Of course, O’Malley, Smash Nancy, Deval Patrick, and our Chairwomen, DWS. Lovely spirits there tonight.
Lots of loving ((((((((((((((((((((((((( To Our Beautiful Chips)))))))))))))))))))))))))))) for all of the loving presentations throughout the evening. We love you, Chips. You lift our spirits, and we do hope that your spirits are lifted as well. Get some R and R as well. Nite to you and all of my TOD Family. HZ
The girls are women now! Growing up in front of our eyes. What an incredible night and YOU KNOW tomorrow night will build on tonight, culminating on Thursday night. THIS is how you do a convention. Watched it all on CSPAN, no interruptions, no inane chattering, only way to watch, in my humble opinion. WOW! Bravo!
“Watched it all on CSPAN, no interruptions, no inane chattering, only way to watch, in my humble opinion.” I so agree. Won’t give the pundits my joy.
Me too, CSPAN all the way.
Sully’s feeling it:
Good because he was very bitchy about the other speeches earlier tonight.
He really was. He was pissy about Julián Castro’s amazing speech.
I know, I looked over at Sully’s blog and thought, he must be out of pot tonight. But Nobody was going to kill my buzz tonight, so I left his site in a hurry.
I tend to avoid him, he goes wherever the wind takes him, but he was half happy tonight:
11 pm. Stunning, brilliant, moving, passionate and right. Flawless. That was a speech a presidential nominee would be proud to have given. The best speech of the conventions so far. There was an emotional arc and steel to this that was as suffused with patriotism as it was with love. Yes, I’m gushing. But gushing is what I feel. And this is live-blogging. So sue me. I’ve never heard a speech from a First Lady anywhere close to this.
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/09/live-blogging-charlotte-day-one.html
Sullivan must have problems. I really loved Mayor Julian Castro’s speech. By the way, I still remember Bill Clinton’s atrocious 1988 Keynote Address which I have on tape. I thought Mayor Castro’s speech was almost as good as Barak Obama’s keynote speech in 2008. So I do not understand why Sullivan “was pissy” about it.
f- andrew sullivan. the obamas are ending his cushy ride along with all the other billionaire-paid pundits. we don’t need or want him. first lady obama, and the entire event tonight, threw down the gauntlet tonight.
we’re entering a new era in america ladies and gentlemen. as bobfr points out often…we’re seeing the end of the american civil war. finally after a 150 years. first lady obama hammered in yet another nail in the coffin of the confederacy/birchers tonight. president lincoln would be so proud of his fellow illini tonight in finishing his work. president obama will be equally exciting thursday night, as he takes on the reagan revolution/trickle down insanity once and for all in his big speech. fellow citizens, it’s being set up for us perfectly by the first family to end the insanity forever this election. we must win back the house and improve the numbers in the senate. our task is clear. you in?????
Wow nicely said 4more 🙂 ~ Darn right, I’m IN.
Whew! I am overwhelmed with the entire night. Not a bad speech in the bunch! Of course FLOTUS stole the show. I felt so proud when the camera panned over the crowd and saw all the diversity. It’s an indescribable feeling to know that you’re on the “right” side! My husband had tears in his eyes when Michelle spoke. Glad I picked the right man as well! G’nite all, I’m exhausted!
Michelle Obama is beyond amazing.
What a lovely night. Thank you, Chips.
Good night everyone.
it was all so great! Thanks Chips! Your coverage was outstanding! Michelle of course was overwhelmingly wonderful yet there were so many other good speakers too. I didn’t even know about the mayor of San Antonio – Castro.
Wow. I’m drained. I think I mi-
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
(nitey nite TOD)
PS: Thanks for the donations! I gotta get back at yez all in the next coupl-a days 😀
I totally agree with you a4alice about “so many other good speakers” at Democratic Convention. I replayed almost all the speeches and I could not stop clapping. I clapped for all the magnificent speakers today. Obviously, our Incredible First lady was simply the icing on this magnificent cake of the opening day of the Democratic convention. If first lady Michelle ever decided to run for political office I would right there supporting her 100%. But I was also very impressed with Mayor Castro and Gov. Patrick.
When they showed the Teddy video I thought it couldn’t get batter, I thought Strickland was great and Deval was incredible… then Michelle AMAZED! Everything was great tonight. I can’t see how they can top this tomorrow. I’ve watched many Dem conventions, I cannot recall any on this level.
Roger Ebert is one of my favorites. He is a great writer/critic and a real liberal. The convention tonight made me similarly proud. The Dems put their best foot forward tonight. Mitt is toast.
Exactly my sentiments, Roger!
What a night. Proud to be a democrat! Michelle rocks! The whole night was great!
Ted Strickland just schooled dumb ass Chuck Tod.
All of the speakers tonight were magnificent! I mean all of them made me proud to be a Democrat.
OMG!!! This line “I have seen firsthand that being president doesn’t change who you are – it reveals who you are.”
DWS on tv, She is great. She is putting together a hell of a Convention!
How are you watching all this, Jovie? I thought you were camping – roughing it? I’m glad you’re not missing it all!
Ashley Judd is one of us. She is cool!
CNN is in a bit of a snit because GOD and Israel were not mentioned once. Why?
Mentioned where? when? God and Israel were mentioned in speeches. What does CNN want?
During the whole night according to them.
CNN, I mean TeaNN is full of alot of crap. They know that the Dems convention was ten times better than that thing in Tampa. They are just trying to fine some fault. But the ex-Congressman did talk about Israel, and the support the President have given Israel. So TeaNN is full of alot of crap.
That is a LIE! (just practicing my outrage) Quelle surprise..NOT. There was a speaker who came on after Ledesi I think who spoke about Israel and PBO’s commitment to Israel and those of Jewish faith. Perhaps if they paid better attention rather than flapping their gums with their banal commentary they might have caught it. When you watch it all on C-SPAN you get to see all of it without interruption
Yep. Rob Wexler spoke at length about Israel and I am quite sure you can’t have a benediction without mentioning God.
Great speeches by all especially the First Lady. I did tear up when watching the tribute to Ted Kennedy. All though I live in Connecticut I always followed the Kennedy family. Oh how I wish that he was still here. He would boot McConnell from Washington back to Kentucky. Oh how I hate cancer.
Hey all. Back again. Vowed to watch with you all, but got caught up in the twitterverse. Just finished quickly skimming the comments on the last three threads before heading to bed. That was a truly spectacular opening night. A love and inspiration festival compared to the hatefest of last week.
I watched on CSPAN on TV. They played the whole thing without commentary or interuptions. The only way to experience this event. Won’t let those pundits rain on my parade.
Can’t believe all the clips of the speeches ChipsChica has up. I want to watch them all again but an early morning alarm clock says otherwise.
Well I’m going to sleep with a big ole smile on my face and a happy heart tonite. There is hope yet.
Hugs all around

good stuff there.
Woosah First Lady Michelle you are amazing..so blessed to have you and President Obama living in the WH and truly fighting for us..God bless you First family
ha ha ha after that hatefest last week. Isn’t it just a tad too early to be creeping out from under that rock.
But if anyone knows partisan, well it’s ‘My goal the next 4 years is to make President Obama a one term president’ O’Donnell
Really fun read:

Clay Aiken: She just whooped Ann Romney’s a** so hard that Ann’s horse felt it!!! #michelle2016
LMAO @ Clay Aiken: “She just whooped Ann Romney’s a** so hard that Ann’s horse felt it!!! #michelle2016”
Ok all, time for bed. Forward!
Oh want to add that on CSPAN just after FLOTUS finished speaking they cut to Brother and Sis in their seats. Craig looked visibly moved and Mia was wiping tears from her face and mouthing what looked like ‘wow’.
No siree, refuse to let the pundits steal my joy and admiration.
Enthusiasm gap, my tush
I saw that – very sweet. Had to be a proud moment. They circled back to Craig when Michelle had walked off stage and he was pumping his fist a little and saying something that looked like he was looking forward to Thursday and President Obama’s speech. It must be awesome to have access to both of those people every day.
I am trying to donate, it’s impossible. All I see is that thing going back and forth, for five minutes. Ugh!
Love it! Joe “chainz” Biden is gonna kick ass, Ten “brass knuckles” Strickland is gonna bit the chiz outta Upchuck Toad, Duval “Bulldog” Patrick is gonna clamp down those chops on a GOP and won’t let go, Julian “kid wonder” Castro is flying high and above Chrispy Cremepuff and Marco Polo Rubio, and last but lease our mighty mighty Michelle “superwoman” Obama.
A hilarious gif from tonight’s speeches;
That was so funny! Little cutie!
I’m so happy. G’night all ~ Sweet Dreams & thank you Chips 🙂
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/09/05/michelle/
bloody hell what a speech by our fabulo9us First Lady.I am still speechless
I won’t be long but I wanted to publicly say that I said a prayer this morning so that God could take the reigns of the Convention and inspire, protect and bless each and everyone and I said prayers during the day for Flotus and she not only hit a home run but she hit out of the stratosphere
I am so grateful to have Flotus and Potus as Flotus and Potus and I pray that God will take over the rest of the week and may inspire Potus just as He inspired Flotus
I had a tissue by mid-speech
God bless each and everyone of you
Thank you Chips for this site
have a good night ya’ll
much love to all of you
what a night for Mr Castro
Deval Patrick left me yelling and Flotus just left me amazed, speechless and grateful
Potus is very lucky and I might say,so are we
I’ll see you all tomorrow morning
Fred
If either one of those girls goes into politics, WATCH OUT, the combinaion of Barack & Michelle’s brains, their grace, we will see greatness that will surpass both parents. This is a dynasty I would love to see….President Malia or Sasha Obama.
presidents malia AND sasha obama! plenty of time for them both to serve!
Something tells me that “Little Honey Boo Boo” on Wednesday won’t be getting any bounce from the DNC convention. Tomorrow it’s Sandra Fluke, John Kerry, Liz Warren, Jim Clyburn, Eva Longoria, Big Dog, and many more…
Sorry who is honey boo boo?
A trashy reality show on TLC about a 7 year old girl, Alana (nicknamed Honey Boo-Boo) and her family. It’s a spin-off from another TLC reality show “Toddlers and Tiaras” about child beauty pageant contestants.
Ok. Thanks 🙂
Oh my gosh, histerical! Will we all die of emotional exhaustion by week’s end? What a week, oops, new post….
I know – I’m already exhausted from joy! And it’s only the first day…
All I know is I just saw- meteorite. Cool!
Anyways, I have a feeling Bubbba is going to be great Wed.
Great, but not Michelle level great. Night Jovie.
He will. Clinton is a good Democrat who cares. But Jovie is right, he is not FLOTUS. There’s something really special about her.
Sorry, I meant Walking_on_Sunshine not Jovie. I decieed to drink everytime a speaker mentioned PBO. Unfortunately, this is so not like Tampa and I’m a leeetle tipsy.
I’m a PBO supporter, but if I *had* to choose between him and Mrs. Obama, it might just be Michelle who gets my vote! He fell in love with a terrific woman. That was an awesome speech from an awesome FLOTUS. She’s also the best dressed First Lady we’ve had since Jackie O (Sorry, I love those little suits she wore).
Uberfemme, you are not alone. I am sure the President knows that if he had to compete against the the First Lady the results my not be to his liking. Michelle is such an incredible human being who is married to another equally incredible human being. On the other hand, I think Michelle and Barak complement each other very well. I just can’t imagine either one of them surviving and being happy without the other.
