Chris smoked Mrs. Greenspan. She needs to take her partisan, non-journalistic behind somewhere and get a hamburger.

This was great! I watched it as it happened. Andrea was speechless! The Obama team needs to hammer home exactly what Chris said. It was concise, truthful and direct. Loved it!

Now you can tell Ms. Greenspan didn’t like what Chris Matthews were saying. But he put the GOP witch in her GOP place didn’t he? I have to send Chris a email and thank him. Also I loved it when he said the Democrats have Biden and Obama who don’t have to prove that they are human. Greenspan didn’t are for that. Today if there was ever any doubt, Andrea Mitchell Greenpan is on of those right wing extreme Republicans.

I meant to say Greenspan didn’t go for that, she didn’t like it. She brought up about Romney’s speech. Andrea Mitchell Greenspan is one of those right wing extreme Republicans.

I mentioned this a few threads ago that Nate Silver on his NYT blog fivethirtyeight now haw Florida as light blue (instead of light pink like last week) since the latest polls there have Obama in the lead by a point or two. However Nate hasn’t updated his electoral counter. It should show 332 including Florida instead of 307. Either way the Obama predicted electoral votes are well over 270 but hope Nate corrects it soon!

Yes, she scolded Chris for having an opinion, and he told her they’re not opinions – they’re facts. Then she mumbled something like “watch yourself”. I think Chris Matthews has been watching “Newsroom”.

Yep. Mrs. Greenspin is going to “ban” Chris Matthrews from her show. Unfortunately folks we might see Chris Matthews changing his toon very soon, maybe to keep his job.

Yes, I fully expect him to get pressured to change his tune and get back in line. When Andrea told him “watch yourself” (which is what I heard), I knew Chris is going to have a decision to make in the near future.

    ‘The New New Deal’

    Review by Cardiff Garcia

Michael Grunwald has written an intensive analysis of Barack Obama’s Recovery Act

    ————————–

Grunwald’s book really tells two stories, related but distinct. The first is about the political process – how the framework of the stimulus bill was designed by the Obama team during the lame duck period, negotiated in Congress and implemented over the past three years. The main theme of this story is Republican intransigence. This is a familiar tale, though Grunwald adds much colourful detail. Rather than negotiating for concessions in good faith, Congressional Republican leaders decided early on that they would not back anything with the president’s fingerprints on it. Given the circumstances, it is naive to think Obama could have negotiated a bigger package than the one he got.

But the second story – an intensive analysis of what the Recovery Act has accomplished to date and has yet to accomplish – is more interesting.

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) — With the Democratic National Convention falling one week after the Republican gathering, Democrats hope to have the “final word” by focusing on the middle class–a message lost during the GOP event, according to a senior Obama campaign official Monday.

“Unlike last week, where you didn’t hear one tangible idea…We’re going to run on our ideas. We’re going to tout and trumpet our ideas,” the official told CNN reporters covering the convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

  27. September 3, 2012 at 5:26 pm

What is this? Are you better off than you were 4 years ago? And of Course, all the News organizations are asking this, like they did with Robney Tax returns…
That is a loaded question and it distracts, from our Convention.
We want to See A+ messaging, for the rest of the Convention. Come on Man!

      September 3, 2012 at 5:34 pm

jovie141, here is a response to that question, “Are we were we want to be?” The answer is no, but we were losing over 800,000 jobs when President Obama walk into that Oval Office. The stock market was in bad shape, so was the financial system, but now we are back lending to small businesses. Over four million jobs created. We are heading in the right direction, we can’t turn around and go back to the same old policies which got us into this mess.

    • 124 nospin
      September 3, 2012 at 7:12 pm

this is a non issue because over the next few days everyone will understand how much better off we are after the conventions. if they don’t already. I don’t see how logically anyone can say . . .no we are not better off. We may not be where we want to be but I would venture to say we are all better off than 4 years ago.

Just watched Tweety and Andrea……loved it! He was smiling the whole time. I hope that O’Malley’s “Booker” moment is over and he has been thoroughly told this is not how to be a good surrogate!
Way OT…..have you all noticed the HUGE fashion impact our FLOTUS has had? Four years ago we would not have seen one female news person in a sleeveless dress. They all wore suits withlong sleeves. Now ALL of them are wearing attractive, stylish, bright sleeveless dresses in this hot weather. I think it’s funny, because I bet few would ever admit that she paved the way and set the style and freed them.
I think Chris loved the enthusiastic crowd behind him.

    • September 3, 2012 at 5:37 pm

People on this blog love Omalley, be careful.

      Just saying…

      • September 3, 2012 at 6:05 pm

He made a mistake. Since when we eat once of our best guys for making one mistake?

        • September 3, 2012 at 6:57 pm

Since Corey Booker made a mistake. He got chewed up and spit out, but good. Pretty sure all is forgiven though.

          • September 3, 2012 at 7:46 pm

If they stay on message, they won’t have to worry about getting lit up by us. Stay on message. Why is that so hard for supposed surrogates to do? O’Mally royally fucked up yesterday by giving the media and GOP talking points on something that even we as non-politicos would have knocked out of the park. Hope he and Booker learned to not go off message.

    • 130 theo67
      September 3, 2012 at 5:55 pm

I’ve noticed that about the sleeveless dresses, too. I absolutely believe Michelle was a trendsetter on that front.

As for Gov. O’Malley – I think it was an honest mistake – not “Booker-like” at all, since Booker’s statement seemed deliberate. Gov O’Malley has been an excellent surrogate for President Obama, and the small clip I found looked like he was hurrying to make a point and he honestly misspoke. He’s very valuable – and has his heart most definitely in the right place.

      • September 3, 2012 at 6:07 pm

She has her own fashion blog mrs.o which has documented all of her clothes over the past four years. Mrs. T has done a great job for those interested in seeing Michelle’s amazing fashion.

        September 3, 2012 at 8:39 pm

When asked the same question today, O”Malley said definitely, we are better off than four years ago. Either someone said something, or he heard himself and realized what he had said. This is the kind of statement that the MSM cut soff at the knees without the follow up. You must lead with the strongest positive statement….not give a provisional then follow up with the strong positive. This is a basic rhetorical strategy. I have heard only good about Gov O’Malley up to this point, and believe he learned quickly. Good. He is an attracive, charismatic person, and we want him to be a good strong surrogate.
Ed has just given about 15 strong minutes stating the facts about how much better we are today than we were four years ago…..FACTS!!! He showed pitiful, awful videos of GWB announcing the stark financial facts, then joking about his grade in Economics 101…..what a loser! It was scary to see him again, and just breathe a hugh sigh of relief that we survived EIGHT years of him.

        • 134 theo67
          September 3, 2012 at 10:32 pm

I think the GOP are playing with fire to ask this question – and I’ve actually heard this question being floated by the media, more than the GOP. People will remember exactly what was happening in this country four years ago, and then have to compare that status with where we are today. Some right wing fool called “Didely” was on Martin Bashir earlier today, tried to say we were “absolutely worse off now than in 2008” – but Martin wouldn’t let him get away with it. The fool could not give a straight answer to the question of whether he seriously thought that the state of affairs was better in 2008. It was painful to watch. They can pose the question – but they don’t want to answer the question.

Ain’t that the truth? I like that comment someone made in the news that the GOP needs to stop pretending Bush didn’t exist, because they are going to have to own up to what he did, what he left us with, and what he ….. did …. not …. do! And Cheney also.

Haven’t read all the comments on this thread; am crying profusely; that video of Matthews and Mitchell is unbelievable and thank the Lord for that! Thank you Chris Matthews for the truth; thank you for the plain, ungarnished truth of the matter. I had put off watching it; don’t know why but am so glad I finally did! Did you hear the crowd behind them? Did you hear that? It was a little distracting, but I loved it. For some reason, the invasion of the U.S. by the British came to mind … you know the one? the Beatles! When you could not hear what Ed Sullivan was saying, because the crowd was roaring nonstop! That is going to be the DNC. We are fired up! Ready to go! It is going to be awesome! People power!

Hope Bobby didn’t “shake hands” with President Obama or greet him too warmly, when he arrived. That’s what happened to former Gov. Maybe you can point your finger at PBO, like Jan Brewer did, instead.

Chris is enjoying himself and he’s evidently reading the twitter machine and all the accolades he’s been getting since taking on Rinse Repeat on Moanin’ Mope show. Enjoy it while we can, the good twin is on full display, and the bad one may show up at anytime. However, I think Mathews has found he gets more support in the good twin mode. Secret Service recovers truck with Biden supplies
    http://bigstory.ap.org/article/secret-service-truck-biden-supplies-stolen

DETROIT (AP) — Detroit police have released photos of a male “person of interest” in the theft of a Secret Service rental truck carrying equipment related to Vice President Joe Biden’s Labor Day visit to Detroit.

Agency spokesman Ed Donovan tells The Detroit News that the U-Haul truck stolen early Sunday outside the Westin Book Cadillac hotel was found Monday in a parking lot about three miles away.

Donovan had said the truck had no weapons on board. He declined to say whether any of the equipment was stolen.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens tells The Associated Press in an email that investigators hope people will see the photos and help identify the man.

Biden addressed a union rally Monday to mark Labor Day. The rally was near the hotel.
