      Helloooooooooooooooooo Mary 😉

      • August 22, 2012 at 6:12 pm

This is a fine reward for my work in the garage today. It just lifts my spirits to see them together. My own marriage was marred by disrespect and emotional abuse. I love to see them together and see how much they love and respect each other. It restores my faith. A beautiful as the both are on the outside, it is their inner strength, love, and compassion shining through that makes them such a special couple.
        Thank you, Chips.

    I like Mr. Plouffe

    • August 22, 2012 at 7:11 pm

I went to hear him when he came to Baltimore. The line was too long and I wasn’t able to ask my question. I was walking down the hall and when I turn around he was walking behind me. I got to ask my question and I gave him the research one of our OFA members from S.C. wanted to get to HQ. He is such a great guy and so easy to talk with.

Hey TOD fam! Thanks for all of your good work here and to Chipsticks for this blog. I don’t get to comment as much as I’d like. Been a rough summer with loss. Two more relatives lost their battles with cancer this past week. Six family/friends died the last three months. On the good news front, after a rough patch the last several years with hard pregnancy, premature baby, unemployment/underemployment, relocation, foreclosure, and divorce, I’m finally starting to get back on my feet. I was approved for an apartment for me and my daughter and will be moving back out of my parents’ house mid-Sept. I’m doing well at work. I’ve been in a one-year accelerated certificate program at my local community college(career change), and have just one quarter left and also have both of my internships lined up for that. Wish me luck on getting hired at a good job thereafter. I still plan to keep my current job as well, at least part-time.

The manager of the Quality Auto Paint and Body Shop heard about this young man’s car being vandalized with homophoic slurs and called 10 other businesses to help fix the damage. PAUL RYAN LOOKING SHEEPISH AND RATTLED

I’m watching Rev Al and he just showed two clips of Paul Ryan answering questions on a tv interview and on the campaign plane. He looks totally rattled and nervous. In fact, on the plane while he was answering reporters questions you could see Dan Senor in the background looking very anxious.

    • August 22, 2012 at 6:18 pm

If you come across those clips, or can point us in the right direction to find, please let us know. Thanks! (Rev Al’s show airs at 3 pm on the west coast, not a friendly viewing time).

Hmmm… So, Ryan off-message. Looks like R-money is too:

    • August 22, 2012 at 6:25 pm

Was this one of the clips Ladyhawke? I saw another earlier and you’re so right, his arrogance seems to be dripping away, he’s a man out of his depth:

      • August 22, 2012 at 6:29 pm

So he’s throwing the blame on Romney. “Hey, base, I don’t approve of abortion for any reason, but MITT does so oh well, what can I do?” Nice move, partner.

        • 49 theo67
          August 22, 2012 at 9:29 pm

And if by some chance he has to take over the presidency – then what? Will he continue on with Romney’s agenda, which states that he’d like to see the states do away with abortion rights completely, and the GOP platform that says no abortions under any circumstances? Does he think we’re stupid? If he doesn’t believe in a “forcible rape” distinction, then will he pay back the taxpayers for the money spent pushing that stupid and offensive bill to define “forcible rape”? They think we’re stupid.

      • 50 Ladyhawke
        August 22, 2012 at 7:01 pm

Yes, that’s the one. Ryan is just stepping in it with both feet. First, he gets stuck repeating “rape is rape” three times as if it is some kind of nervous tick. He was desperately trying to avoid answering questions about his radical voting record. It’s interesting that Ryan had to echo exactly what President Obama said at the press conference. There they go again, copying the only adult in the room. Second, he had the nerve to imply that women were not going to take the bait for distractions created by President Obama. Imagine that? Sarah Jones at Politicususa has a good post on this interview. We may have to wait for Rev. Al’s team to post the video of the reporters asking Ryan questions on the campaign plane. I searched but couldn’t find it.

A nationwide ban on abortion with no exceptions – even in the case of rape or incest. Paul Ryan and his friends have finally hit rock bottom with their extreme plans to limit healthcare choices for women, and what makes it even worse is that they are being dishonest about it.

Actually, yes. I’m dreaming. My heavens it will be a national disaster if these horrors are elected! I’ve got to send some more money to liberal women running for office right away.

The wheels are rapidly coming off the R&R campaign. Both R’s are beginning to look even more zombie-eyed like they don’t know what hit them. I am 100 percent sure that Romney was convinced he could easily beat the black guy. He can’t believe that the people of the US would prefer a blah over his perfect white self.
And the Obama campaign has not placed a foot wrong. It’s been quite amazing to watch. There are still 76 days to go and strange things happen but I think it’s shaping up to be a HUGE victory for the incumbent. 🙂 🙂 🙂

Well I read a clip on another blog quoting Sarah Jones (Politicusa?) saying that Ryan is trying to run from his former positions on rape and also refusing to answer in-depth questions about it because it is a “side issue.” Her question is something to the effect of a woman’s health and life is a side issue to him? Let me see if I can find the quote/article and imbed a link here.

  16. August 22, 2012 at 6:46 pm

    Dudette,

Monday may be a moot point for RNC; see map of Hurricane Isaac:

If Isaac hits Florida well south of Tampa, things may go somewhat OK. But it’s the getting there that may be a problem. All aircraft are usually flown *away* from hurricane paths because empty planes are particularly susceptible to damage.

    • 131 hopefruit2
      August 22, 2012 at 6:58 pm

Rush Limbo said that the President Obama (1) instructed the National Weather Center to change the predicted path of the hurricane so that it will hit Tampa, and (2) has already activated FEMA to send tents to Tampa BEFORE the hurricane just to make it look like a disaster area.

      ROTFLMAO!

      • August 22, 2012 at 7:10 pm

The GOP/Fox News watching base will swallow a lot of nonsense, but even they will draw the line at “blame Obama” for a hurricane won’t they?

Wish that he had such powers, then we’d be assured of Dem majorities in both legislative branches and the executive suite this fall.

And, I gotta tell ya, the idiots who’ve already erected 12 foot high fences with RAZOR WIRE as the topping better be ready to get that stuff down, fast or you’re talking some serious shrapnel.

      • August 22, 2012 at 7:26 pm

Very scary indeed. My first trip to Florida (for business) was cut short in 2004 because of the threat of hurricane(s). As I recall, we were encouraged to leave because the planes were leaving (airlines don’t allow their fleet to remain idle in airports where hurricanes threaten).

Even though I left a day or two before the storm’s arrival, the gas stations were closed because they were out of fuel.

I’ve been told by native Floridians that the bigger the building, the safer you are during a hurricane; so hotels and convention centers should weather the storm OK. But it’s the damn logistics that will certainly be a problem; an influx of so many (entitled, elite) people during chaos is never good.

Praying for everyone’s safety, but a little chaos never did any harm (to the entitled/elite), right?

      • August 22, 2012 at 7:27 pm

Didn’t this happen once before to the RNC? This doesn’t seem like the best planning.

        • August 22, 2012 at 7:33 pm

If you asked me to plan a convention between mid-July & mid-October in the Continental US it would never be located in Gulf Coast or Atlantic States. I’ve lived (fortunately) through several hurricanes. You don’t want to be anywhere near one if you can avoid it.

Hello, my name is Ron McCune and I am running for President of the United States. I am running for the presidency because no one else in the government will present any other way to get our country out of the many messes we are now in. Also My Better America Plan is the only way to correct the mess we are now in. However I do not want anyone to vote for me in the next election. I am only running to present my ideas on what it is that we have to do. To read up to date material about the 2012 election go to the Current Events section and the bottom half of the Home section and you will see my thoughts about the 2012 election and why it is important to re-elect President Obama and elect the Democrats. Also I’ll show you why Willard Mitt Romney and the Republicans are bad for America in many ways.

    Quote of the Day?

“It’s very tough for people like me who are pro-choice Republicans. It’s an admittedly not a large caucus. But when I have to see a story like Todd Akin, and then turn to my wife and my daughters, who are looking at me and saying, `Really? These are the kind of people you’re associating with in the Republican Party?’ That’s a problem.”

    — Mark McKinnon, quoted by the Washington Post.

    • 160 jacquelineoboomer
      August 22, 2012 at 8:34 pm

I deeply admire Mark McKinnon, more so now that I realize he’s pro-choice, mostly because he told Crusty McCain if his running mate were Sen. Obama, he’d drop out of the McCain campaign. Now, if he’d just make the full switch over to the Dem side, he wouldn’t have to apologize to his wife and daughters.

      • August 22, 2012 at 9:06 pm

Oh yeah, I remember that. Sort of. Is Mark friends with Pres.Obama or worked for him before? Or did he just admire then Sen. Obama and didn’t want to work in a campaign against him.

        • 162 jacquelineoboomer
          August 22, 2012 at 11:46 pm

I think he just admired him, realized the historic nature of his election, didn’t want to be a part of unfair and unfounded charges being leveled against “that one” by McCain (probably had a premonition of how it would go), and won my personal admiration for all of it.

A piece is in place (2 places if you count Willard’s new pro life stance) — for their long term goal to make this a theocracy and to overturn Roe v. Wade—–and other restrictions on womens’ rights, including contraception—-is a possibility. Ryan has a 100% rating with the pro-life, far right religious extremists every year he has served in Congress. The media has a duty to stop concentrating on his abs and tell us what he represents. It’s frightening.

      • August 22, 2012 at 8:05 pm

They are absolutely insane extremists. Do they really think women and “minorities” are going to stand still for this kind insanity? It’s really arrogant and the media dos owe it to the country to reveal this in detail.

Would some kind soul tell me what is going on in the village? I can’t find a link to PBO’s 7:35pm speech. I don’t know what Chips is talking about in terms of the previous post having an extension somewhere. I don’t see what UTAL is saying is easier to load. I don’t get why ‘Feed for this entry’ shows comments that are not on the front screen. In short, who’s messing with my head and eyes? You young people, or you techie people, seem to enjoy tampering with a good thing when it’s already working, thereby throwing SOME old people off their stride.

      Oh heck, poor VC!!!

      Okay, here goes:

It looks like PBO’s 7:35 speech was closed to TV (print pool only), and the next one is closed too.

If you look at the previous post (What a welcome….. and there was an overflow crowd too) you’ll see it doesn’t all appear on the main page, you have to click ‘see the full post here’ under the last photo to bring up the direct link to the post where you can see it all. It means that there will be fewer photos actually appearing on the front page, so the blog should load more quickly for everyone …. well, I hope 😕

Oooh, help me with this: ‘ I don’t get why ‘Feed for this entry’ shows comments that are not on the front screen.’

      Is that your RSS feed??

Sorry for delay, I went to watch the FLOTUS interview to calm my troubled soul. 😉

I’m using my trusty laptop that I use every day. I counted roughly 19 pictures and no ‘see the full post here’ message, before I got to the comment section. Just below the pics there’s a line ‘Feed for this Entry’ line which may have always been there but never noticed by me. It falls under ‘Responses to …(name of post)’ and has the # of comments beside it. I noticed it only because I was looking for the link you guys mentioned, but when i clicked o it it took me to a comment page free of avatars yet containing some of the comments I already read on the front scree and 1 or two others that seemed ‘new’.

Obama’s Navy SEAL critics are failing

“They were the Republicans’ best chance at swift-boating President Obama, but they’re unraveling at the seams. The four-month assault by former Navy SEALs and Special Forces operatives against President Obama’s handling of the Osama bin Laden raid had the potential to discredit the president’s signature foreign policy achievement, but the veterans’ partisan excesses and absurd public remarks are turning them into a laughingstock within the special forces community.”

    • August 22, 2012 at 8:07 pm

Excellent piece Bob, loved the end:

Others echoed that same sentiment, such as retired Navy SEAL Capt. Rick Woolard. “I would prefer that SEALs and other special operators would sit down and shut the hell up.”….

      • August 22, 2012 at 8:22 pm

        He’s, of course, correct.

What these critters have failed to realize is that the attack on Senator Kerry, as totally unjust as it was, involved historical matters decades before his candidacy for President. In this case, they are attacking the Commander in Chief, so their dishonesty and flagrant craziness is amplified by that fact.

Moreover, when the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is proclaiming the brilliance and courage of the President only a fool (however well compensated and you know Rove and Kochs are more than trickling $$$ on ‘um) would open their mouth.

The #SwiftTruthing of these bigots is underway and we can expect it to intensify.

Frank Szabo wants the people of Hillsborough County, N.H., to know that if they elect him as sheriff this year, he will do whatever it takes to stop doctors from performing abortions — even if that means using deadly force.

In an interview on Wednesday with local television station WMUR, Szabo said he believed sheriffs were granted special powers under the Constitution. That means, he said, he would be empowered to arrest or even use deadly force against doctors for providing legal abortions for women.

“I would hope that it wouldn’t come to that, as with any situation where someone was in danger,” Szabo said. “But again, specifically talking about elective abortions and late term abortions, that is an act that needs to be stopped.”

Love my President and my TOD Family. I am so excited! I had to go to the bank this morning after speaking with a young lady located in PA., and in that visit to the bank to follower her instructions, I was able to take care of my business. But something happened. BiG!!!.

I was speaking about how the bank had screwed me on my interest rate. Then our conversation with into policies on POB. She asked a question, and I /went to town'( those of my age know that old expression) Start talking. I spent almost 30 minutes talking to her about the Frank-Dodd bill and how it will work, and why the opposition wants to turn it back. Went on to voting, which was great. Talked about the different voting blocks. I asked if she was registered. Other family members, friends, etc. Affirmative.

Then I told her what POB would do when he is elected and what the opposition wants to do to take her, her family, friends, her job, her children’s education, neighbors jobs, healthcare, children S CHIPS program etc. Oh, I was in heaven. Excuse me. No offence.

She did not want to stop. She did not know how much obstructions the Congress caused. I explained to her. Gave her names to remember when she listen to people on tv., and I told her what damage they did and will continue to do.

      I left with telling her:
Get on the computer and go to GOTTA.VOTE. Then I told her to go to WhiteHouse.gov for information, if she did not believe me.

I asked her to promise me to make sure that her family is registered to vote. Then I said, we only have 76 days to make the vote count for POB. She said with much urgency in her voice, “Oh, my is that all we
      have?”

I am just sharing because , I have been talking in doctor’s office(yesterday), grocery markets, gas station, on phone when someone calls about some of my business; in local bakery this week, and people are so not in touch with the good information. I am just bold with them and saying, “this is what could happpen if you do not make the right choice. And that choice from the information that I have shared with you about both candidates is in your hands when you step into that polling booth.
President Barack Obama is your choice from your response to my conversation. Affirmative. We will see on

‘ Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York authorized payments of as much as $20,000 to sexually abusive priests as an incentive for them to agree to dismissal from the priesthood when he was the archbishop of Milwaukee. […]

A spokesman for the archdiocese confirmed on Wednesday that payments of as much as $20,000 were made to “a handful” of accused priests “as a motivation” not to contest being defrocked. ‘

      and you’ll love this one:

‘ Cardinal Dolan said in response to a reporter’s question at the time that the payment was “an act of charity,” so that Mr. Becker could pay for health insurance. ‘

you know, health insurance, that thingy the cardinal doesn’t want to give to female employees, because it’s against his religious principles.

REPUBLICANS MOVE CONVENTION TO SEVENTEENTH CENTURY

TAMPA (The Borowitz Report)—With the threat of Hurricane Isaac hitting Florida next week, the Republican National Committee took the extraordinary step today of moving their 2012 National Convention to the seventeenth century.

While the decision to send the convention four centuries back in time raised eyebrows among some political observers, R.N.C. spokesperson Harland Dorrinson downplayed the unusual nature of the move.

“After exploring a number of options, we decided that moving to the seventeenth century would cause the least disruption,” he said. “We’re not going to have to change a thing.”

The US middle class is in a “lost decade” as its share of the country’s income has been surpassed by affluent earners, a new report says.

The Pew Research Center found that 62% of middle class Americans reported they were being forced to reduce spending.

And 43% expect their children’s standard of living will be better than their own, down from 51% in 2008.

Both US presidential candidates have offered competing plans for the economy to middle class voters.

But among the self-described middle class, 52% of adults say President Barack Obama’s policies in a second term would help them, opposed to 42% who said electing Republican challenger Mitt Romney would do the same.

Hi all I was listening to radio today and heard two things.
First Why cant we talk about Mitts Mormonism? We talked about Kennedys Catholicism and Obamas religion. we need to know where his loyalty lies. But crickets.
Second TheBig Lie I have made my self crazy trying to figure Mitts lies. They are blatant , everyone know what hes doing and the MSM isnt calling him out. So on Hartmann they were talking about the big lie and how Roosevelt called his opponent out on the technique started by Hitler. Tell outrageous lies and the repeat until they are believed. Use voter suppression. Sound familiar?
The only thing will be to call him out.
I dont think twitter is much good for that, I dont get responses on my opinions just retweet and links.
    Any thoughts.

      here ya go…

‘ Mormonism was the great scandal of American nineteenth-century religion, somewhat as Scientology is today, though Mormons understandably dislike the comparison. Mainstream Protestants couldn’t dismiss Mormonism, couldn’t embrace it, and couldn’t quite understand it, and yet it thrived. For American Protestantism, Mormonism was the other: you defined yourself against those nuts. Indeed, to this day, Joanna Brooks tells us, Mormons perceive their persecutors to be not atheists or secularists, let alone Jews or Catholics, but Protestant Evangelicals. ‘

‘ The most striking feature of Mitt Romney as a politician is an absence of any responsibility to his own past—the consuming sense that his life and opinions can be remade at a moment’s need. Romney, according to Romney, never favored the individual mandate, or supported abortion rights, or opposed the auto-industry bailout, or did any of the other things he obviously, and on the record, did.

‘ When, in 1978, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abandoned the rule prohibiting blacks from serving as priests, one church leader, Bruce McConkie, explained, “It doesn’t make a particle of difference what anybody ever said about the Negro matter before the first day of June 1978.” You could find, or think you’ve found, a similar logic behind Romney’s blithe amnesia when it comes to the things he used to think and say. ‘

lots and lots more, here, including the history of the sect.

Obama: ‘We’re up a few points’ on Romney
      By REID J. EPSTEIN | 8/22/12 8:19 PM EDT
NEW YORK – President Obama said he’s beating Mitt Romney “by a few points” and said time is running out in the 2012 presidential election.

“I can’t resist a basketball analogy,” he told donors at a Lincoln Center fundraiser that featured NBA commissioner David Stern and current and former basketball stars including Michael Jordan. “We are in the fourth quarter. We’re up by a few points but the other side is coming strong and they, they, they play a little dirty. We’ve got a few folks on our team in foul trouble. We’ve got a couple of injuries and I believe that they’ve got one last run in them.”

“I’d say there’s about seven minutes to go in the game. And Michael’s competitiveness is legendary and nobody knows better than Michael that if you’ve got a little bit of a lead and there’s about seven minutes ago, that’s when you put them away.”

Along with Jordan, who sat next to his fiancée, Yvette Prieto, basketball stars present included Patrick Ewing, Walt “Clyde” Frazier, former Sen. Bill Bradley and Education Secretary Arne Duncan appeared at the fundraiser.

Obama said it is “very rare I come to an event where I’m like the fifth or sixth most interesting person. Usually people want to take a picture with me, sit next to me, talk to me. That has not been the case at this event.”

Ok, for the MALE TOD members. I am a woman but I give compliments to other women when it is warranted. The First Lady is truly a nice looking woman. Her skin, yes- I was that close – is FLAWLESS. My BFF stated that you get skin like that from good sex. LOL. Oh, well. Now, you know why my skin is blotchy and I wear a ton of makeup in this Miami heat. LOL. Also, everyone speaks of her toned arms. But she has a nice pair of legs. I was checking them out. I wished my legs looked like that. Ok, that about it for my girl on girl re-action for the night. Sweet dreams, fellas!!
