The First Lady is speaking now in Florida (5:50 ET):
This is a fine reward for my work in the garage today. It just lifts my spirits to see them together. My own marriage was marred by disrespect and emotional abuse. I love to see them together and see how much they love and respect each other. It restores my faith. A beautiful as the both are on the outside, it is their inner strength, love, and compassion shining through that makes them such a special couple.
Thank you, Chips.
I went to hear him when he came to Baltimore. The line was too long and I wasn’t able to ask my question. I was walking down the hall and when I turn around he was walking behind me. I got to ask my question and I gave him the research one of our OFA members from S.C. wanted to get to HQ. He is such a great guy and so easy to talk with.
Hey TOD fam! Thanks for all of your good work here and to Chipsticks for this blog. I don’t get to comment as much as I’d like. Been a rough summer with loss. Two more relatives lost their battles with cancer this past week. Six family/friends died the last three months. On the good news front, after a rough patch the last several years with hard pregnancy, premature baby, unemployment/underemployment, relocation, foreclosure, and divorce, I’m finally starting to get back on my feet. I was approved for an apartment for me and my daughter and will be moving back out of my parents’ house mid-Sept. I’m doing well at work. I’ve been in a one-year accelerated certificate program at my local community college(career change), and have just one quarter left and also have both of my internships lined up for that. Wish me luck on getting hired at a good job thereafter. I still plan to keep my current job as well, at least part-time.
Oh it’s good to hear that despite walking through the valley a lot this summer/year you can now see a the light in the distance. I do wish you luck Thoughtful 3, and health and strength for you and your daughter!
Hey thoughtful3, great to hear from you, but so sorry about all the sadness you and your family have been through, what a terrible time. Good on you for fighting so hard to get back on your feet, sounds like you’re doing great. Wishing you and your daughter all the very, very best.
Hey thoughtful3 I’m so glad you were able to check in. My heart breaks for all the loss and stress you’ve suffered. But I firmly believe there’s always hope and always a silver lining. Sending good wishes, vibes, comfort, and good luck your way. May success and sun shine come your way. 🙂
I’m so sorry for all the loss you’ve gone through thoughtful3… however you sound like one tough cookie who keeps standing on her feet- very best wishes to you & your daughter and best of luck on your job / schooling.
Sorry about your losses and your troubles, thoughtful. To go through all those and still accomplishing things is amazing. Best wishes with your studies and your job. Here is to you and your daughter moving on to better and greater things in life.
Hi Thoughtful3. Just want you to know that we are thinking of you and wish you peace and comfort during this time of loss. Hope for much better days in the near future.
Good evening thoughtful3. I’m not familiar with you but I just have to tell you how much I admire your tenacity in the face of such odds. I am going to put in a special prayer for you tonight for you to excel and achieve all you desire. You are amazing.
Thoughtful3 I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your family and friends that have occurred in the last three months, and on your personal
past misfortune. I’m so glad that things are starting to turn around, and I wish you good luck in community college and in getting a good job. You are in my thought and prayers.
If you live in the Roanoke, Virginia area, you might want to patronize these businesses: Quality Auto Paint and Body Shop, Parts Unlimited in Vinton, Advance Auto Parts, Moon’s Auto Body, Rice Toyota, Val’s Automotive, The Rod Shop, B&C Exterminating, Twists & Turns, AJ’s Landscaping, and Sunnybrook Auto Spa. The manager of the Quality Auto Paint and Body Shop heard about this young man’s car being vandalized with homophoic slurs and called 10 other businesses to help fix the damage. They did that and more:
😆 I liked this because one so rarely comes across positive news in the unending stream of news. I sure hope Addison will have no further problem with people targeting his car or other possession.
I’m watching Rev Al and he just showed two clips of Paul Ryan answering questions on a tv interview and on the campaign plane. He looks totally rattled and nervous. In fact, on the plane while he was answering reporters questions you could see Dan Senor in the background looking very anxious.
If you come across those clips, or can point us in the right direction to find, please let us know. Thanks! (Rev Al’s show airs at 3 pm on the west coast, not a friendly viewing time).
Hmmm… So, Ryan off-message. Looks like R-money is too:
Mitt Romney hasn't tweeted about jobs or the economy since August 5th.
So he’s throwing the blame on Romney. “Hey, base, I don’t approve of abortion for any reason, but MITT does so oh well, what can I do?” Nice move, partner.
And if by some chance he has to take over the presidency – then what? Will he continue on with Romney’s agenda, which states that he’d like to see the states do away with abortion rights completely, and the GOP platform that says no abortions under any circumstances? Does he think we’re stupid? If he doesn’t believe in a “forcible rape” distinction, then will he pay back the taxpayers for the money spent pushing that stupid and offensive bill to define “forcible rape”? They think we’re stupid.
Yes, that’s the one. Ryan is just stepping in it with both feet. First, he gets stuck repeating “rape is rape” three times as if it is some kind of nervous tick. He was desperately trying to avoid answering questions about his radical voting record. It’s interesting that Ryan had to echo exactly what President Obama said at the press conference. There they go again, copying the only adult in the room. Second, he had the nerve to imply that women were not going to take the bait for distractions created by President Obama. Imagine that? Sarah Jones at Politicususa has a good post on this interview. We may have to wait for Rev. Al’s team to post the video of the reporters asking Ryan questions on the campaign plane. I searched but couldn’t find it.
Paul Ryan Insults Women Voters, Calls Forcible Rape a ‘Side Issue’
Just now from a group in Wisconsin — “The national Republican Party just passed its platform, and guess what it includes? A nationwide ban on abortion with no exceptions – even in the case of rape or incest. Paul Ryan and his friends have finally hit rock bottom with their extreme plans to limit healthcare choices for women, and what makes it even worse is that they are being dishonest about it.
This will be presented to the full convention and perhaps there will be enough people who haven’t lost their minds who will vote against it? Or am I dreaming again?
Actually, yes. I’m dreaming. My heavens it will be a national disaster if these horrors are elected! I’ve got to send some more money to liberal women running for office right away.
The wheels are rapidly coming off the R&R campaign. Both R’s are beginning to look even more zombie-eyed like they don’t know what hit them. I am 100 percent sure that Romney was convinced he could easily beat the black guy. He can’t believe that the people of the US would prefer a blah over his perfect white self.
And the Obama campaign has not placed a foot wrong. It’s been quite amazing to watch. There are still 76 days to go and strange things happen but I think it’s shaping up to be a HUGE victory for the incumbent. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Well I read a clip on another blog quoting Sarah Jones (Politicusa?) saying that Ryan is trying to run from his former positions on rape and also refusing to answer in-depth questions about it because it is a “side issue.” Her question is something to the effect of a woman’s health and life is a side issue to him? Let me see if I can find the quote/article and imbed a link here.
He can’t run from this issue …. it is too out there. It is now a part of the platform of the Republican Party; he and Romney are in agreement on the issue and yet pretending not to be. That may be why he looks anxious!! I hope so. That and Romney’s taxes, no economic plan, and on and on.
Hey there, utaustinliberal. Were you at today’s event in Miami? Your quotes are right on the money. All it takes is ONE!! “One singular sensation, every little step you take…..ONE!!!!
Wasn’t he occupied with one of his sons who was starting a new school/class/program?? I’m not sure, but I vaguely recall him mentioning something of that nature .
I call BS. Warren cites “uncivil discourse”, but I’m betting even money he did not want to put Mitt Romney in the position of having to discuss Mormonism in a church full of evangelicals!!
When Ann Romney takes the stage on Monday evening at the Republican National Convention, the three major networks will be broadcasting something else.
Politico’s Dylan Byers reports that CBS, NBC and ABC do not plan to air primetime coverage of the convention on Monday, when the wife of Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is scheduled to deliver her speech.
What’s the big idea about the networks not airing the speech? Isn’t the convention already getting normal coverage from the cable news networks like FOX, CNN and MSNBC? Do CBS, NBC and ABC normally air speeches from speakers other than the candidate?
I did a bad thing. We got the neighbor’s Newsweek in our mailbox by mistake today—-the one with the Big Lies about PBO advertised on the cover. I threw it away.
dotster3, offer to pay the neighbor for the magazine, tell them you made a mistake and you will give them the three or four dollars the piece of crap cost.
Are your neighbor’s staunch Repubs? If so, just tell them that it was God’s plan that the magazine got thrown away. They should have no problems with God’s will!
Hmmmm, Even though it was delivered to your address, that may border on mail tampering. I’d buy another one and take it over personally. Tell ’em that you thought it was junk mail and threw it away along with the other junk mail delivered to you (not a lie…it was junk mail to you). Let them know you couldn’t help by see the front page article. Ask them to let you know what they think about it once they’ve read it. This may be a good opportunity to get into a discussion about the election, where they stand and to talk up PBO.
When FLOTUS was on the View she said she was going to be out there campaigning for her President, and boy she sure is. By the way, when will FLOTUS speak at the Democratic Convention? Do you think CBS, ABC, NBC will cover FLOTUS speech?
Hi everyone, looking for you wise owls’ opinions – would it help if just the start of a post showed up on the front page, and then you had to click to see the full thing? I’m guessing that should make the site load more quickly for everyone, especially when there are loads of photos. Or do you prefer to see all the photos on the front page? Whatcha think?
Thanks Pamela, just tried it out with the previous post, see what you think. I’ll only use it for verrrrrrrrrrrry long photo posts, just to speed things up.
If you mean that just the start of the post shows up on the front page and people have to click on “comments’ to go to the page and see the rest of the post, then sure I vote yes. Loading faster would be a great help for many people.
Tried it. Chips it totally works better. It loads faster and all one has to do is click on the hyperlink that says “see more” and then it takes you to see more of the full post and then one can scroll down to the comments. Easy peasy. I vote yes for the new format. 🙂
Excellent UT, I should have thought of this ages ago, it was just the site was SO slow for me today I started investigating how it could be speeded up. Hope everyone else is good with. Thanks again UT.
Chips, I went back, didn’t see anything different, even closed out the page and refreshed, but maybe on iPad it opens so fast that an abbreviated start doesn’t matter?
GM Pamela. I see that you trashed the good name of indian railways. I will have you know that IR ferries largest no. of passengers everyday in the world.
What does that show ? The indian men are idjits. (I’ll let you stew on that one).
If Isaac hits Florida well south of Tampa, things may go somewhat OK. But it’s the getting there that may be a problem. All aircraft are usually flown *away* from hurricane paths because empty planes are particularly susceptible to damage.
Rush Limbo said that the President Obama (1) instructed the National Weather Center to change the predicted path of the hurricane so that it will hit Tampa, and (2) has already activated FEMA to send tents to Tampa BEFORE the hurricane just to make it look like a disaster area.
He’s not the idiot, his proud to be called dittoheads are. He’s actually quite the marketeer. His idiot followers will believe anything he says because he knows they are truth deniers. Slush Limpballs just confirms and validates what they already believe. He also said that he could have gotten Atkin to drop out. He didn’t say how he’d have done it, but that wouldn’t matter to the sheeple.
I bet you if hurricane was predicted to hit the site of the Democratic Convention, Rush Limbaugh and the other right wingers would be saying loudly that God was angry with America for electing President Obama and this was God’s message that he should be defeated in November.
Have been watching it’s path … if that baby picks up steam Tampa really could get walloped. Don’t want anyone injured, obviously. And, I gotta tell ya, the idiots who’ve already erected 12 foot high fences with RAZOR WIRE as the topping better be ready to get that stuff down, fast or you’re talking some serious shrapnel.
Very scary indeed. My first trip to Florida (for business) was cut short in 2004 because of the threat of hurricane(s). As I recall, we were encouraged to leave because the planes were leaving (airlines don’t allow their fleet to remain idle in airports where hurricanes threaten).
Even though I left a day or two before the storm’s arrival, the gas stations were closed because they were out of fuel.
I’ve been told by native Floridians that the bigger the building, the safer you are during a hurricane; so hotels and convention centers should weather the storm OK. But it’s the damn logistics that will certainly be a problem; an influx of so many (entitled, elite) people during chaos is never good.
Praying for everyone’s safety, but a little chaos never did any harm (to the entitled/elite), right?
If you asked me to plan a convention between mid-July & mid-October in the Continental US it would never be located in Gulf Coast or Atlantic States. I’ve lived (fortunately) through several hurricanes. You don’t want to be anywhere near one if you can avoid it.
Oh, VP Biden was so hot aka fired up today! Even though it was basically his same stump speech, as with President Obama’s stump speech, I could listen to it a hundred times and never get bored!
Does anyone know who Ron McCune is? He tried to post a link to his website, which starts…..
Hello, my name is Ron McCune and I am running for President of the United States. I am running for the presidency because no one else in the government will present any other way to get our country out of the many messes we are now in. Also My Better America Plan is the only way to correct the mess we are now in. However I do not want anyone to vote for me in the next election. I am only running to present my ideas on what it is that we have to do. To read up to date material about the 2012 election go to the Current Events section and the bottom half of the Home section and you will see my thoughts about the 2012 election and why it is important to re-elect President Obama and elect the Democrats. Also I’ll show you why Willard Mitt Romney and the Republicans are bad for America in many ways.
Here’s an additional 15 min. interview clip with FLOTUS and iVillage….really cool….50 Shades of Grey comes up too (our First Lady is just beyond awesome):
“It’s very tough for people like me who are pro-choice Republicans. It’s an admittedly not a large caucus. But when I have to see a story like Todd Akin, and then turn to my wife and my daughters, who are looking at me and saying, `Really? These are the kind of people you’re associating with in the Republican Party?’ That’s a problem.”
I deeply admire Mark McKinnon, more so now that I realize he’s pro-choice, mostly because he told Crusty McCain if his running mate were Sen. Obama, he’d drop out of the McCain campaign. Now, if he’d just make the full switch over to the Dem side, he wouldn’t have to apologize to his wife and daughters.
Oh yeah, I remember that. Sort of. Is Mark friends with Pres.Obama or worked for him before? Or did he just admire then Sen. Obama and didn’t want to work in a campaign against him.
I think he just admired him, realized the historic nature of his election, didn’t want to be a part of unfair and unfounded charges being leveled against “that one” by McCain (probably had a premonition of how it would go), and won my personal admiration for all of it.
I would love to meet Mark McKinnon. Yes he has had kind words to say about the character of our President, and refused to be part of a campaign that would smear him during 2008. He must shake his head to see where his party is today, and having Miitens as the party leader? Yes I would love to talk to Mark…
I heard Paul Ryan described rightly today as an evangelical Catholic, the most extreme of religious thinking. All the religious right are extremely energized. A piece is in place (2 places if you count Willard’s new pro life stance) — for their long term goal to make this a theocracy and to overturn Roe v. Wade—–and other restrictions on womens’ rights, including contraception—-is a possibility. Ryan has a 100% rating with the pro-life, far right religious extremists every year he has served in Congress. The media has a duty to stop concentrating on his abs and tell us what he represents. It’s frightening.
They are absolutely insane extremists. Do they really think women and “minorities” are going to stand still for this kind insanity? It’s really arrogant and the media dos owe it to the country to reveal this in detail.
Would some kind soul tell me what is going on in the village? I can’t find a link to PBO’s 7:35pm speech. I don’t know what Chips is talking about in terms of the previous post having an extension somewhere. I don’t see what UTAL is saying is easier to load. I don’t get why ‘Feed for this entry’ shows comments that are not on the front screen. In short, who’s messing with my head and eyes? You young people, or you techie people, seem to enjoy tampering with a good thing when it’s already working, thereby throwing SOME old people off their stride.
It looks like PBO’s 7:35 speech was closed to TV (print pool only), and the next one is closed too.
If you look at the previous post (What a welcome….. and there was an overflow crowd too) you’ll see it doesn’t all appear on the main page, you have to click ‘see the full post here’ under the last photo to bring up the direct link to the post where you can see it all. It means that there will be fewer photos actually appearing on the front page, so the blog should load more quickly for everyone …. well, I hope 😕
Oooh, help me with this: ‘ I don’t get why ‘Feed for this entry’ shows comments that are not on the front screen.’
Sorry for delay, I went to watch the FLOTUS interview to calm my troubled soul. 😉
I’m using my trusty laptop that I use every day. I counted roughly 19 pictures and no ‘see the full post here’ message, before I got to the comment section. Just below the pics there’s a line ‘Feed for this Entry’ line which may have always been there but never noticed by me. It falls under ‘Responses to …(name of post)’ and has the # of comments beside it. I noticed it only because I was looking for the link you guys mentioned, but when i clicked o it it took me to a comment page free of avatars yet containing some of the comments I already read on the front scree and 1 or two others that seemed ‘new’.
“They were the Republicans’ best chance at swift-boating President Obama, but they’re unraveling at the seams. The four-month assault by former Navy SEALs and Special Forces operatives against President Obama’s handling of the Osama bin Laden raid had the potential to discredit the president’s signature foreign policy achievement, but the veterans’ partisan excesses and absurd public remarks are turning them into a laughingstock within the special forces community.”
Others echoed that same sentiment, such as retired Navy SEAL Capt. Rick Woolard. “I would prefer that SEALs and other special operators would sit down and shut the hell up.”….
What these critters have failed to realize is that the attack on Senator Kerry, as totally unjust as it was, involved historical matters decades before his candidacy for President. In this case, they are attacking the Commander in Chief, so their dishonesty and flagrant craziness is amplified by that fact.
Moreover, when the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is proclaiming the brilliance and courage of the President only a fool (however well compensated and you know Rove and Kochs are more than trickling $$$ on ‘um) would open their mouth.
The #SwiftTruthing of these bigots is underway and we can expect it to intensify.
Frank Szabo wants the people of Hillsborough County, N.H., to know that if they elect him as sheriff this year, he will do whatever it takes to stop doctors from performing abortions — even if that means using deadly force.
In an interview on Wednesday with local television station WMUR, Szabo said he believed sheriffs were granted special powers under the Constitution. That means, he said, he would be empowered to arrest or even use deadly force against doctors for providing legal abortions for women.
“I would hope that it wouldn’t come to that, as with any situation where someone was in danger,” Szabo said. “But again, specifically talking about elective abortions and late term abortions, that is an act that needs to be stopped.”
Yes. Remember President Obama as much as I support him, and you know I do. He is a human being, as he always say he is not a perfect man. So yes I can imagine having him for a brother.
A man walks into the toy store to get a Barbie doll for his daughter. So he asks the assistant, as you would, “How much is Barbie?”
“Well,” she says, “we have Barbie Goes to the Gym for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Ball for $19.95, Barbie Goes Shopping for $19.95, Barbie Goes to the Beach for $19.95, Barbie Goes Nightclubbing for $19.95, and Divorced Barbie for $265.00.”
“Hey, hang on,” the guy asks, “why is Divorced Barbie $265.00 when all the others are only $19.95?”
“Yeah, well, it’s like this … Divorced Barbie comes with Ken’s house, Ken’s car, Ken’s boat, Ken’s furniture …”
You are soooooo wrong for this. 🙂 I’ll have you know that in community property states both partners walk away with a lot of stuff and in a lot of divorce cases the woman ponies up all the cash, houses etc and still has to pay ‘Ken’ alimony.
Love my President and my TOD Family. I am so excited! I had to go to the bank this morning after speaking with a young lady located in PA., and in that visit to the bank to follower her instructions, I was able to take care of my business. But something happened. BiG!!!.
I was speaking about how the bank had screwed me on my interest rate. Then our conversation with into policies on POB. She asked a question, and I /went to town'( those of my age know that old expression) Start talking. I spent almost 30 minutes talking to her about the Frank-Dodd bill and how it will work, and why the opposition wants to turn it back. Went on to voting, which was great. Talked about the different voting blocks. I asked if she was registered. Other family members, friends, etc. Affirmative.
Then I told her what POB would do when he is elected and what the opposition wants to do to take her, her family, friends, her job, her children’s education, neighbors jobs, healthcare, children S CHIPS program etc. Oh, I was in heaven. Excuse me. No offence.
She did not want to stop. She did not know how much obstructions the Congress caused. I explained to her. Gave her names to remember when she listen to people on tv., and I told her what damage they did and will continue to do.
I left with telling her:
Get on the computer and go to GOTTA.VOTE. Then I told her to go to WhiteHouse.gov for information, if she did not believe me.
I asked her to promise me to make sure that her family is registered to vote. Then I said, we only have 76 days to make the vote count for POB. She said with much urgency in her voice, “Oh, my is that all we
have?”
I am just sharing because , I have been talking in doctor’s office(yesterday), grocery markets, gas station, on phone when someone calls about some of my business; in local bakery this week, and people are so not in touch with the good information. I am just bold with them and saying, “this is what could happpen if you do not make the right choice. And that choice from the information that I have shared with you about both candidates is in your hands when you step into that polling booth.
President Barack Obama is your choice from your response to my conversation. Affirmative. We will see on
Nov. 6, 2012. HZ
really? they’re going to let this guy step up to the podium on national television?
‘ Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan of New York authorized payments of as much as $20,000 to sexually abusive priests as an incentive for them to agree to dismissal from the priesthood when he was the archbishop of Milwaukee. […]
A spokesman for the archdiocese confirmed on Wednesday that payments of as much as $20,000 were made to “a handful” of accused priests “as a motivation” not to contest being defrocked. ‘
and you’ll love this one:
‘ Cardinal Dolan said in response to a reporter’s question at the time that the payment was “an act of charity,” so that Mr. Becker could pay for health insurance. ‘
you know, health insurance, that thingy the cardinal doesn’t want to give to female employees, because it’s against his religious principles.
Gee, I can’t wait for that Hurricane to hit Tampa on Monday and ruin the Convention! Hey, wait a minute…, I live near Tampa.
Second thought- No No.
That is all.
Hi everyone! Please say a prayer for us down here in the islands of the seas. Tropical Isaac is letting us know that he is passing through us. The wind is howling outside and the rains have begun to fall. We are told that we will get up to 8 inches of rain. The good news is that the storm is moving rapidly and has become somewhat disorganized.
We were sent home from work at midday to prepare for the storm: we barred up our homes, shopped for emergency items and are now safely inside praying that the Almighty above will weaken Isaac.
REPUBLICANS MOVE CONVENTION TO SEVENTEENTH CENTURY
TAMPA (The Borowitz Report)—With the threat of Hurricane Isaac hitting Florida next week, the Republican National Committee took the extraordinary step today of moving their 2012 National Convention to the seventeenth century.
While the decision to send the convention four centuries back in time raised eyebrows among some political observers, R.N.C. spokesperson Harland Dorrinson downplayed the unusual nature of the move.
“After exploring a number of options, we decided that moving to the seventeenth century would cause the least disruption,” he said. “We’re not going to have to change a thing.”
According to the electoral college votes on this site here: http://core.talkingpointsmemo.com/election/scoreboard PBO needs only one of the swing states to get to 270. Of course, these are subject to change and PBO must keep the states he currently has.
I hear ya UT. I love me some Wonder Woman too, but this pairing is meh, IDK to me also. you can’t have Superman without Lois Lane. I’ll admit though that I’m not a WW comic book reader (or much of a comic book readera anymore) I love WW from the TV series with Lynda Carter, so I’m just like hey where is Steve…lol
poor widdle akin taking the fall for big mitty and baby paul.
‘Here are some ways Akin can be pushed to leave the race against Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill, which had been considered one of the best Republican hopes for capturing the four seats the party needs to gain a majority in the 100-member U.S. Senate.’
Meta, this link says,”District 2 is an open seat heading into the November election, as incumbent Todd Akin (R), who was first elected to the House in 2000, is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate”
he ran for the house in 2010, so he’d have to have run again this year to stay in. instead, he’s launched himself into the senate race. i think he retains his house seat until january 2013, even if he quits or loses the senate race.
I think he gives up his House seat to run for Senate, not sure. If they force him out, they disenfranchise his followers and they stay home. They won’t vote for Claire, but they sure won’t take to the big city establishment elite messing with their local election. It’s surprising how many people think like him (including PAyn Rand)
The US middle class is in a “lost decade” as its share of the country’s income has been surpassed by affluent earners, a new report says.
The Pew Research Center found that 62% of middle class Americans reported they were being forced to reduce spending.
And 43% expect their children’s standard of living will be better than their own, down from 51% in 2008.
Both US presidential candidates have offered competing plans for the economy to middle class voters.
But among the self-described middle class, 52% of adults say President Barack Obama’s policies in a second term would help them, opposed to 42% who said electing Republican challenger Mitt Romney would do the same.
Congress was the most likely to be blamed for middle class economic woes, with 62% of respondents saying “a lot” of the blame lies with the legislative body.
Banks and financial institutions were the second most likely to be blamed.
Thank you, Meta and Sherijr. The fact that I can still use the computer is an indication that we are not getting the full blast that was predicted. I am so grateful for that. However, Isaac is heading towards the US Virgin Islands so let’s hope for the best for our sisters and brothers over there.
No, it doesn’t make sense, but this is August. August is the silly season…..we just have to get through it for sense to set in. After Labor Day all the kids are back in school, people are out of the sun, and life goes back to what passes for normal. I notice this every year. August has for the past three years been President Obama’s worst month. This August is not nearly as bad as previous Augusts.
PBO is 5 electoral votes away from 270 today. He gets there by just one swing state going his way. we have to make sure he keeps the states he has and get cranking on the swing state undecides.
The beltway press shoud take Rachel’s advice, do their job, and not take the Romney campaign or anyone at face value. It is funny how the beltway press have a lot of follow up questions to PBO, but not to Robney. She gave a shout out to the local reporters for doing their job. Great!!
The Cow telling the press to do their *damned* job—— the *damned* is from me. But essentially, she said to stopping jotting down what Willard says but actually compare what he and his lover boy said their records are with their actual record and where there are inconsistencies between the two is where the story is. So fricking true.
Rachel Maddow. I used to call her MadCow but that takes too much effort so I shortened it to The Cow. We have a truce. She lays off PBO with her emoprog bullcrap leading up to the election, and instead focuses of the GOP and I watch her show. After PBO’s reelection, she’ll no doubt go back to her stupid whining and I’ll send her an e-mail telling her to go ____ herself and I will no longer watch her show. Good plan, oui?
If you want to throw up, Jake “the snake” Tapper tweeted this with link to ABC news video (Ladyhawke: includes Paul Ryan on plane).
I am sickened that he has sent out multiple self-serving “Akin-ize” tweets today. But NO mention that it’s legitimate, that AKIN COULD BE RYAN’S TWIN in Congress.
Interesting that Jake is so obsessed with President Obama’s team Akin-izing the GOP ticket. I bet even the link that Bobfr posted up thread would not change Jake’s reporting. Because he has the narrative he wants to portray and he’s going to report that and not let any silly details like practically identical voting records get in the way.
OMG. What a day, folks! I am fired up and my feet hurt. 🙂 🙂
The First Lady was awesome. Chips, I just sent some pictures. Please feel free to post if you desire. I gave out this blog site to several folks. I hope they stop by. HELLO!!!!!!
I have to catch up on today’s event. I will talk to you guys later.
Hi all I was listening to radio today and heard two things.
First Why cant we talk about Mitts Mormonism? We talked about Kennedys Catholicism and Obamas religion. we need to know where his loyalty lies. But crickets.
Second TheBig Lie I have made my self crazy trying to figure Mitts lies. They are blatant , everyone know what hes doing and the MSM isnt calling him out. So on Hartmann they were talking about the big lie and how Roosevelt called his opponent out on the technique started by Hitler. Tell outrageous lies and the repeat until they are believed. Use voter suppression. Sound familiar?
The only thing will be to call him out.
I dont think twitter is much good for that, I dont get responses on my opinions just retweet and links.
Any thoughts.
‘ Mormonism was the great scandal of American nineteenth-century religion, somewhat as Scientology is today, though Mormons understandably dislike the comparison. Mainstream Protestants couldn’t dismiss Mormonism, couldn’t embrace it, and couldn’t quite understand it, and yet it thrived. For American Protestantism, Mormonism was the other: you defined yourself against those nuts. Indeed, to this day, Joanna Brooks tells us, Mormons perceive their persecutors to be not atheists or secularists, let alone Jews or Catholics, but Protestant Evangelicals. ‘
‘ The most striking feature of Mitt Romney as a politician is an absence of any responsibility to his own past—the consuming sense that his life and opinions can be remade at a moment’s need. Romney, according to Romney, never favored the individual mandate, or supported abortion rights, or opposed the auto-industry bailout, or did any of the other things he obviously, and on the record, did.
‘ When, in 1978, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints abandoned the rule prohibiting blacks from serving as priests, one church leader, Bruce McConkie, explained, “It doesn’t make a particle of difference what anybody ever said about the Negro matter before the first day of June 1978.” You could find, or think you’ve found, a similar logic behind Romney’s blithe amnesia when it comes to the things he used to think and say. ‘
lots and lots more, here, including the history of the sect.
Our neighbors busted out an Obama-Biden yard sign! They’ve been jealous of ours probably? They are true small business people. She does jewelry from her house and a couple of over things.
NEW YORK (AP) – President Barack Obama is mocking Senate candidate Todd Akin of Missouri for his remarks about a woman’s body being able to avoid pregnancy during what Akin called a “legitimate rape.”
Obama tells a group of donors in New York that the Republican congressman from Missouri “somehow missed science class” even though he sits on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
Obama: ‘We’re up a few points’ on Romney
By REID J. EPSTEIN | 8/22/12 8:19 PM EDT
NEW YORK – President Obama said he’s beating Mitt Romney “by a few points” and said time is running out in the 2012 presidential election.
“I can’t resist a basketball analogy,” he told donors at a Lincoln Center fundraiser that featured NBA commissioner David Stern and current and former basketball stars including Michael Jordan. “We are in the fourth quarter. We’re up by a few points but the other side is coming strong and they, they, they play a little dirty. We’ve got a few folks on our team in foul trouble. We’ve got a couple of injuries and I believe that they’ve got one last run in them.”
“I’d say there’s about seven minutes to go in the game. And Michael’s competitiveness is legendary and nobody knows better than Michael that if you’ve got a little bit of a lead and there’s about seven minutes ago, that’s when you put them away.”
Along with Jordan, who sat next to his fiancée, Yvette Prieto, basketball stars present included Patrick Ewing, Walt “Clyde” Frazier, former Sen. Bill Bradley and Education Secretary Arne Duncan appeared at the fundraiser.
Obama said it is “very rare I come to an event where I’m like the fifth or sixth most interesting person. Usually people want to take a picture with me, sit next to me, talk to me. That has not been the case at this event.”
Ok, for the MALE TOD members. I am a woman but I give compliments to other women when it is warranted. The First Lady is truly a nice looking woman. Her skin, yes- I was that close – is FLAWLESS. My BFF stated that you get skin like that from good sex. LOL. Oh, well. Now, you know why my skin is blotchy and I wear a ton of makeup in this Miami heat. LOL. Also, everyone speaks of her toned arms. But she has a nice pair of legs. I was checking them out. I wished my legs looked like that. Ok, that about it for my girl on girl re-action for the night. Sweet dreams, fellas!!
I believe I heard her say that she doesn’t wear stockings. auntsis522, I’m going to stay away from the good sex comment. So good you had a nice time today seeing out FLOTUS.
Again?
Congratulations maryl on #1!
Helloooooooooooooooooo Mary 😉
This is a fine reward for my work in the garage today. It just lifts my spirits to see them together. My own marriage was marred by disrespect and emotional abuse. I love to see them together and see how much they love and respect each other. It restores my faith. A beautiful as the both are on the outside, it is their inner strength, love, and compassion shining through that makes them such a special couple.
Thank you, Chips.
Congratulations, Maryl1!
I am on a ROLL!
Rollin’ rollin’ rollin’, maryl1! Yay!
Congrats on first, maryl1
Thank you Hopefruit, Pamela, and Dudette!
I like Mr. Plouffe
How cool was that?!
Plouffe! PBO’s Alter Ego. He makes me feel calm. 🙂
Same thing that ran through my mind. I see Plouffe and I think, it’s all good people. We’ve got this. 🙂
I love Mr. David Plouffe. When I see POB and Plouffe, I feel very peaceful and calm that we are going to get through this.HZ
Thanks, VC! 🙂
Hey thoughtful3, great to hear from you, but so sorry about all the sadness you and your family have been through, what a terrible time. Good on you for fighting so hard to get back on your feet, sounds like you’re doing great. Wishing you and your daughter all the very, very best.
thanks for your well wishes, chips! and, thanks again for what you do here 🙂
Hey thoughtful3 I’m so glad you were able to check in. My heart breaks for all the loss and stress you’ve suffered. But I firmly believe there’s always hope and always a silver lining. Sending good wishes, vibes, comfort, and good luck your way. May success and sun shine come your way. 🙂
Sorry to hear. Sending good vibes your way. Take care, thoughtful3. One day at a time. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Adding my well wishes for you too, thoughtful3. Peace, love and big hugs.
Here’s a tribute to your strength and endurance.
Beautiful
I’m so sorry for all the loss you’ve gone through thoughtful3… however you sound like one tough cookie who keeps standing on her feet- very best wishes to you & your daughter and best of luck on your job / schooling.
{{{{{thoughtful3&daughter}}}}}
thoughtful3, Keep the faith. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
thoughtful3 and your precious daughter many loving((((((((( of strength and great things to come)))))))))HZ
What a tough time you’ve had! Lovely that the light is begining to shine for you again. A bright future is ahead.

Very nice. I will keep that in mind. Thanks!
😆 I liked this because one so rarely comes across positive news in the unending stream of news. I sure hope Addison will have no further problem with people targeting his car or other possession.
Oh wow. What a wonderful group of people. Certainly does restore one’s faith in humanity.
And sometimes it really does need restoring.

PAUL RYAN LOOKING SHEEPISH AND RATTLED
I’m watching Rev Al and he just showed two clips of Paul Ryan answering questions on a tv interview and on the campaign plane. He looks totally rattled and nervous. In fact, on the plane while he was answering reporters questions you could see Dan Senor in the background looking very anxious.
If you come across those clips, or can point us in the right direction to find, please let us know. Thanks! (Rev Al’s show airs at 3 pm on the west coast, not a friendly viewing time).
Hmmm… So, Ryan off-message. Looks like R-money is too:
Was this one of the clips Ladyhawke? I saw another earlier and you’re so right, his arrogance seems to be dripping away, he’s a man out of his depth:
Paul Ryan Insults Women Voters, Calls Forcible Rape a ‘Side Issue’
http://www.politicususa.com/paul-ryan-women-wont-fall-side-issue-forcible-rape-language.html
Paul Ryan is as big as liar as Mitt Romney is. Ryan and Todd Adkins feel the exact same.
The group is http://grassroots.wisdems.org/women-fight-back
This will be presented to the full convention and perhaps there will be enough people who haven’t lost their minds who will vote against it?
Oops … I read it on this blog … on previous post (face turns red) lol … anyway here it is: http://www.politicususa.com/paul-ryan-women-wont-fall-side-issue-forcible-rape-language.html
He can’t run from this issue …. it is too out there. It is now a part of the platform of the Republican Party; he and Romney are in agreement on the issue and yet pretending not to be. That may be why he looks anxious!! I hope so. That and Romney’s taxes, no economic plan, and on and on.
“Oops … I read it on this blog … on previous post (face turns red)”
😆 I know the feeling Daisydem!!!
Thanks. I feel better now. Actually, this is the blog I am mostly on so it stands to reason : I read it on the best blog, right?
“this is the blog I am mostly on so it stands to reason”
You’re cracking me up Daisydem 😆
😆 😆
I just love how David Letterman is looking at President Obama in that picture. I think we all get that look from time to time…
Me too…I love the “StopMitt” on the corner of the pix.
First Lady Michelle Obama was AMAZING. She makes you feel hope and optimism. I’ve heard and seen Ann Romney speak and she needs lessons.
Hey there, utaustinliberal. Were you at today’s event in Miami? Your quotes are right on the money. All it takes is ONE!! “One singular sensation, every little step you take…..ONE!!!!
I’m missing amk’s wimmin jokes, where is the fella? He’s missing in action on Twitter too. Lazybones.
His wife probably locked him in the bathroom for running his mouth. 😀
😆 And it’d serve him right too!!!!
Wasn’t he occupied with one of his sons who was starting a new school/class/program?? I’m not sure, but I vaguely recall him mentioning something of that nature .
Ah, maybe Hopefruit, I might have missed his excuse – 🙄 – for going missing. How are you today, oh majestic one?
Maybe he’s riding that train… Again.
Ah yeah, maybe Pamela!!! 😆
I have ridden on trains in India – words fail me!
Not doing too badly at all Chips! Thanks 🙂
Mighty glad to hear it!!!
I called this weeks maybe even months ago.
Rick Warren Cancels Presidential Forum At Saddleback Church
I call BS. Warren cites “uncivil discourse”, but I’m betting even money he did not want to put Mitt Romney in the position of having to discuss Mormonism in a church full of evangelicals!!
Waren has an over-inflated view of himself. Memo to him: The whole world views him as a hack.
You nailed it.
What the h$$$ does “uncivil discourse” mean?
Telling the truth.
bingo
Yo! I am only $33 short of reaching my 3rd goal on OFA/FR… any one care to push me to the top, I would love to see this happen today! 😆

“Someone” is a-rockin’ my world! Thank you, thank you, I won’t add a name, but you know I am sending a {{{{{{HUG}}}}}! 😆
Congrats Pamela! You reached your goal. Someone beat me to it.
Networks Won’t Air Ann Romney’s RNC Speech
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entry/networks-wont-air-ann-romneys-rnc-speech
We don’t get to hear the angry white woman?
Well, we know she will be ‘very angry’ and I’m sure someone will be recording it 😉
Next week is going to be a YouTube bonanza!!!!
You betcha!
What’s the big idea about the networks not airing the speech? Isn’t the convention already getting normal coverage from the cable news networks like FOX, CNN and MSNBC? Do CBS, NBC and ABC normally air speeches from speakers other than the candidate?
Since they ban the press on regular days, it’s only fitting that the press bans them.
I did a bad thing. We got the neighbor’s Newsweek in our mailbox by mistake today—-the one with the Big Lies about PBO advertised on the cover. I threw it away.
For shame dotster. And just what do you plan to do as penance?
Maybe I’ll bring them a pretty blooming plant——as a good neighbor. 🙂
😀
dotster3, offer to pay the neighbor for the magazine, tell them you made a mistake and you will give them the three or four dollars the piece of crap cost.
So funny! And I’m sure using the “piece of crap” words will impress the neighbor. Ha!
giggle
😆
You did a good thing.. Magazines are not first class mail, in fact, Newsweek has been classified as junk mail for a great many years now….
This may be a good opportunity to get into a discussion about the election, where they stand and to talk up PBO.
..and give them a lovely blooming plant. 😀
I would not say a word. Just relish the fact that one household was spared RWNJ mumbo jumbo.
Whatcha think?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/
Let’s try it and see?
Thanks Pamela, just tried it out with the previous post, see what you think. I’ll only use it for verrrrrrrrrrrry long photo posts, just to speed things up.
If you mean that just the start of the post shows up on the front page and people have to click on “comments’ to go to the page and see the rest of the post, then sure I vote yes. Loading faster would be a great help for many people.
p.s. You could try it and see how it goes and if it doesn’t work out just revert back to the old format.
Thanks UT, I’ll give it a go and see how you all feel about it.
UT, I’ve tried it out with the previous post, ‘What a welcome….. and there was an overflow crowd too’ – see whatcha think. Thanks 😉
Ah, maybe it’s different on an iPad Pamela, I’ll need to look in to that. Thanks.
Bienvenue! Thank YOU! just doubled my FR goal, let ‘er rip!
Ha. I suggested this 8 or 9 months back.
wimmin…..
He’s b-a-a-a-c-k! Yo, amk!
GM Pamela. I see that you trashed the good name of indian railways. I will have you know that IR ferries largest no. of passengers everyday in the world.
What does that show ? The indian men are idjits. (I’ll let you stew on that one).
Ha, would you look who’s back?
GM chips. Moving the pics inside the post and leaving only a teaser in the FP is a smart move. Saves pixels and loading time of FP. I am aye on that.
Ah, good to hear amk …. why didn’t I think of this, oooooh, two years ago.
(Say “wimmin” and I’ll give you a slap)
Well, I would be remiss in ‘my duty’ if I didn’t point out that I toldjaso several months back. 🙂
Did ya? 😳 Maybe should I start listening to you? Na.
The words of wise are ignored until after they’re dead. That’s the cross we have to bear.
😆 You’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.
Dudette,
Monday may be a moot point for RNC; see map of Hurricane Isaac:
If Isaac hits Florida well south of Tampa, things may go somewhat OK. But it’s the getting there that may be a problem. All aircraft are usually flown *away* from hurricane paths because empty planes are particularly susceptible to damage.
Rush Limbo said that the President Obama (1) instructed the National Weather Center to change the predicted path of the hurricane so that it will hit Tampa, and (2) has already activated FEMA to send tents to Tampa BEFORE the hurricane just to make it look like a disaster area.
ROTFLMAO!
The GOP/Fox News watching base will swallow a lot of nonsense, but even they will draw the line at “blame Obama” for a hurricane won’t they?
Wish that he had such powers, then we’d be assured of Dem majorities in both legislative branches and the executive suite this fall.
Um, what? Good lord, he’s an idiot.
STFU, Rump, ever heard of Global Warming? What an ass he is.
Didn’t this happen once before to the RNC? This doesn’t seem like the best planning.
If you asked me to plan a convention between mid-July & mid-October in the Continental US it would never be located in Gulf Coast or Atlantic States. I’ve lived (fortunately) through several hurricanes. You don’t want to be anywhere near one if you can avoid it.
Who made that stupid decision? EVERY August south Florida gets hurricanes…..who paid what to whom???
…….
Huh?
Ohhhh okay then.
Hmm, my thoughts too 😕
Takes all kinds … yikes …
I love that he loathes Willard, and is asking people to vote for PBO … but. Hmm, dunno.
The Vote for PBO part is definitely a good thing!!! 🙂
Wiki — Pastor Ron McCune, Bethel AME Church, 1154 Blue Hills Avenue ~ Bloomfield, Connecticut
It looks as though he was trying for unique and didn’t do it well.
If he’s running for President, why is he cheerleading for PBO?
Can’t figure that one out Yardarm …. most peculiar.
Here’s an additional 15 min. interview clip with FLOTUS and iVillage….really cool….50 Shades of Grey comes up too (our First Lady is just beyond awesome):
http://www.ivillage.com/michelle-obama-can-women-have-it-all-debate/1-h-482322
Thank you so much for the link yesterday and today’s as well.
Excellent, thank you Janelle!!
Don’t miss this interview everyone, it’s lovely.
Janelle, thank you for the link, I could listen to 15 or 30 minutes more of FLOTUS talking.
Romney, Ryan Pulled Into Abortion Debate
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/romney-ryan-pulled-abortion-debate-17060328#.UDVs_0QQJZt
Quote of the Day?
When you do, if you do, give him my regards! He’s what the Republican Party could be, if the rest of ’em had a soul.
This is just jaw-dropping. Sorry if already posted.
GOP Approves ‘Most Conservative Platform In Modern History’
http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/08/22/723241/gop-approves-most-conservative-platform-in-modern-history/
Fabulous munitions for the Obama campaign, but also for the campaigns for the House and Senate seats.
Jaw-dropping indeed.
YES. We’ve got to pound this every day. We should print this out on a card and hand it out to people who are somehow undecided.
“Conservatives” is just another name for Neanderthals. The GOP needs to be offshored.
Oh heck, poor VC!!!
Okay, here goes:
Is that your RSS feed??
Wait, VC – are you using an iPad? Pamela is and she doesn’t see the ‘split’ post either – will need to check that out.
I checked for split post on my iPad and didn’t have it. Haven’t checked on my laptop.
Chips, everyone – this is important.
Obama’s Navy SEAL critics are failing
“They were the Republicans’ best chance at swift-boating President Obama, but they’re unraveling at the seams. The four-month assault by former Navy SEALs and Special Forces operatives against President Obama’s handling of the Osama bin Laden raid had the potential to discredit the president’s signature foreign policy achievement, but the veterans’ partisan excesses and absurd public remarks are turning them into a laughingstock within the special forces community.”
http://www.govexec.com/defense/2012/08/obamas-navy-seal-critics-are-failing-miserably/57597/
Excellent piece Bob, loved the end:
Others echoed that same sentiment, such as retired Navy SEAL Capt. Rick Woolard. “I would prefer that SEALs and other special operators would sit down and shut the hell up.”….
He’s, of course, correct.
Texas Judge said get ready for Civil War if Obama wins(paraphrasing).
I am ready.

Oh Brother! Another one?
Do these people ever consider that THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING?, I wonder.
Hey Mitt – where are the tax returns?
Hey Mitt-stop lying about that welfare ad, and that medicare ad.

From our beautiful Maya Soetoro-Ng.
Lovely picture.
beautiful video, beautiful family. maya is a terrific speaker–hope we see her more.
The President and Maya both have such beautiful velvety voices.
Gawd, can you imaging having Barack Obama for a brother?!
Yes. Remember President Obama as much as I support him, and you know I do. He is a human being, as he always say he is not a perfect man. So yes I can imagine having him for a brother.
Dude!!
Oh…wow. This is such a beautiful video. Celebrating our diversity and the threads that bind us together as one people.
Well said ut. I loved listening to her speak. She has such a calming spirit about her.
I heart David Plouffe. That is all.
you and me both, baby. you and me both! 😉
A man speaks frantically on phone, “My wife is pregnant, and her contractions are only two minutes apart!”
The doctor says “Calm down. Is this her first child?”.
“No, you idiot!” the man shouts. “This is her husband!”
Hahahahahaha….men are morons.
Now you tell us.
wimmin/smh.
There you are! We were going to send yardarms boat to India to find you had you not showed up tonight.
GM donna. Been busy with son’s baby steps into college and hostel life.
…..aaannnddd–he’s back!! 🙂
Men.
You are soooooo wrong for this. 🙂 I’ll have you know that in community property states both partners walk away with a lot of stuff and in a lot of divorce cases the woman ponies up all the cash, houses etc and still has to pay ‘Ken’ alimony.
Wish I knew such ‘generous’ wimmin.
WHACK ….
When God was handing out brains, akin thought he said brains and asked for a slow one!
Ha, ha.. *trains
Derailed ‘train of thought’ ?
Me, or him? 😆 (me, just a typo!) (him, born braindead, just no one knew until now!)
We will see on
Nov. 6, 2012. HZ
Woooo! HZ You are the CHAMP! 😀
You’re phenomenal, HZ! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
HZ you are on fire……you are a very good representative for the President. I am very proud of you.
This just sickens me:
really? they’re going to let this guy step up to the podium on national television?

Sending all my positive thoughts to you PrayerWarrior.. and to all of you in the path of Isaac.
OMG, please stay safe. We will keep you and your nation in our thoughts.
You live near the Windward Islands?
Prayer and Light all around you. Angels are nearby…..

“We’re not going to have to change a thing.”
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2012/08/republicans-move-convention-to-seventeenth-century.html
this is so fun to picture! whooosh! they’re gone! now, we just quickly dismantle the time machine……
Where’s Dr. Who when you need him?
According to the electoral college votes on this site here: http://core.talkingpointsmemo.com/election/scoreboard PBO needs only one of the swing states to get to 270. Of course, these are subject to change and PBO must keep the states he currently has.
Completely OT guys but ooh photo of the day for us comic book geeks!!! Superman has new leading lady. No more Lois pic.twitter.com/XUBujE45
I like Wonder Woman and all but fuck no. You dump Lois who’s been by your side through thick and thin for a lasso of truth?
Senate.’
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/08/22/us-usa-campaign-akin-party-idUSBRE87L14N20120822
Excuse my ignorance, but Is Akin also running to keep his seat in the House?
Currently in house, is a Senate candidate vs. Dem incumbent Claire McCaskill
Right, but in order to run for the Senate, he has to give up his House seat, right?
Meta, this link says,”District 2 is an open seat heading into the November election, as incumbent Todd Akin (R), who was first elected to the House in 2000, is running for a seat in the U.S. Senate”
http://ballotpedia.org/wiki/index.php/Missouri's_2nd_congressional_district_elections,_2012
Thank you, DonnaD. I think the rules vary from state to state and wasn’t sure about Akin.
he ran for the house in 2010, so he’d have to have run again this year to stay in. instead, he’s launched himself into the senate race. i think he retains his house seat until january 2013, even if he quits or loses the senate race.
I had no idea Maya was that wonderful! Of course, why wouldn’t she be?? She resembles their mother I think.
Maya and Mailia both have Stanley Ann’s eyes.

Curiosity rover has finally begun to roll, moving forward just a few metres.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19342994
Amazing stuff.
But among the self-described middle class, 52% of adults say President Barack Obama’s policies in a second term would help them, opposed to 42% who said electing Republican challenger Mitt Romney would do the same.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-19351183
Congress was the most likely to be blamed for middle class economic woes, with 62% of respondents saying “a lot” of the blame lies with the legislative body.
Banks and financial institutions were the second most likely to be blamed.
Thank you, Meta and Sherijr. The fact that I can still use the computer is an indication that we are not getting the full blast that was predicted. I am so grateful for that. However, Isaac is heading towards the US Virgin Islands so let’s hope for the best for our sisters and brothers over there.
aloha and prayers for all our island sisters and brothers! (also kitties and doggies, and trees!)

How in the Hell are the polls closing, with everything going against the Republicans?
Unless, the Welfare ad is sticking?
Doesn’t make sense?
No, it doesn’t make sense, but this is August. August is the silly season…..we just have to get through it for sense to set in. After Labor Day all the kids are back in school, people are out of the sun, and life goes back to what passes for normal. I notice this every year. August has for the past three years been President Obama’s worst month. This August is not nearly as bad as previous Augusts.
Agreed! This month hasn’t been as bad as I expected. We still have another week, but I’m hopeful!!
PBO is 5 electoral votes away from 270 today. He gets there by just one swing state going his way. we have to make sure he keeps the states he has and get cranking on the swing state undecides.
BWWAHAHAHAAAAAAAA!!

I see it’s “right smack in the middle of downtown” too. Excellent!
Rachel Maddow’s opening segment is looking great. She is covering politicians WHO DO NO ANSWER QUESTIONS. She didn’t get to RomRyan yet.
love this post
Rachel Maddow referenced this article tonight:
Ryan backed more than one ‘forcible rape’ abortion bill
By NBC’s Kelly O’Donnell
http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2012/08/22/13416844-ryan-backed-more-than-one-forcible-rape-abortion-bill?chromedomain=nbcpolitics&lite
Who is the cow?
Lisaloves is not a BIG FAN of Rachel Maddow…..I think?
ha! Magpie, you are the King of understatements.
Oui.
See also Andrew Sullivan’s post titled “Ryan Is More Extreme on Abortion Than Akin”
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/print/2012-08-22/ryan-opposition-to-abortion-consistent-with-akin-s-no-exceptions.html

Chips. pics. now.
Oh sorry Renegade522/AuntSis, I missed your comment, will look them up now and will definitely post them tomorrow, gotta go sleep! Thanks a million.
Any thoughts.
here ya go…
‘ Mormonism was the great scandal of American nineteenth-century religion, somewhat as Scientology is today, though Mormons understandably dislike the comparison.

Go to Barbara Boxer.com/mitt

That has not been the case at this event.”
love this bit: ‘if you’ve got a little bit of a lead, and there’s about seven minutes to go, THAT’S WHEN YOU PUT THEM AWAY!’
this is that moment, and the smartest guy in the room is calling it. we are on the move!
New post everyone:

I am with you auntsis522, FLOTUS has beautiful skin and gorgeous legs. I don’t think she even wears stockings even in the winter.
I believe I heard her say that she doesn’t wear stockings. auntsis522, I’m going to stay away from the good sex comment. So good you had a nice time today seeing out FLOTUS.
