Awww snap! Do I hear them playing Ledisi at a campaign event? Damn, these people are so cool! ๐Ÿ™‚

Followed by some Gwen Stefani! Yes!

I bet neither Ledisi nor Gwen will be sending cease and desist letters to the campaign! ๐Ÿ™‚

Ledisi performed for his fundraiser at Fox Theater in Oakland. She was awesome, talked about how President Obama inspired her to follow her dream even though people said she would never make it as a singer.

Guys, Jake Tapper was on Laura Ingraham today and said…..it right now on mediaite.com….this Tool had the nerve to say to Laura I. that the media was in the tank for sen Obama and they helped sway the election in 2008. That he doesn’t want that to happen this time around. So focusing of Tax returns is another way of being in the Tank for one candidate over another instead of the real issues.Holy Elephant? This guy has it hard for Romney and his beef Cake….Ryan.

Now….question is, WHO is Jake Tapper for? Was Jake Tapper remembering 2008 correctly? The Birtherism. The Palling around with terrorist. The Fist bump. The 3am ad. The One. Celebrity. The naivete charge when then sen Obama said what he would do with Pakistan and OBL. Rev Wright. The Gasoline high prices. Etc. Jake Tapper…..as many in DC/NY press these days…..have their biases branded on their foreheads. How is this guy an objective reporter? Did he forget the weeks the media spent on Michelle Obama and her comments and the Clinging to guns and stuff about PA? These people are totally whacked.

Nena, they invent an imaginary past, just as they invent an imaginary president Obama. Also remember the way the DNC convention was dismissed and all the stories concentrated on the wonderful, sexy Sarah who was going to crush Obama Biden. Ask any ten people in a grocery store who Jake Tapper is and you will get blank stares. Nobody cares what that dolt thinks.

Great work, yardarm756. Speaking of music, Jared Bernstein features a “Musical Interlude” on his newsletterblog that he send out daily. Today, it was Lee Morgan and Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. And if you click on the word within the sentence about “Musical Interlude” it takes you to the featured song. Great item in Jared’s newsletter.

I just thought of you as being a jazz lover. Remember when we had that ‘great house party’ when Chips left us alone for a day and you provided the jazz for the evening? Jared Bernstein is a bassist and loves his music. Check it out: http://www.JaredBernsteinBlog.com

Damn right UT. You know they are good because all Dick Halperin is touting is the 23% that says more likely to vote for Romney with Ryan added, of course he makes no mention of the political leanings of the 23%.

To make Romney and Give Romney a more favorable polling data…..You see…..the difference in the 12 battle ground states? The manipulation by the media is just baffling.

Is it any wonder why Jake Tapper is having an Elephant Trunk stuck in his groin?

They keep changing their sampling to get the outcome they try to obtain. Yet….registered voters are saying…..Noooooo.

Today was Election Day in Georgia — Primary Run-Offs. My county voted for 2 non-partisan judges seats (one State Court, one Superior Court) and one county commission seat runoff between two Republicans.

Just ran across this very timely and POINTED posting on muckety.com. Our team definitely needs to take heed!

    ———————————
Why the left needs to pay more attention to state courts

    By Laurie Bennett

Arguments from the right often boil down to two basic premises: โ€œItโ€™s the lawโ€ (immigration, voting rights) and โ€œThe law doesnโ€™t require itโ€ (release of candidate tax returns, bundler lists, names of dark money contributors).

Liberals should take these comments as a warning. Republicans arenโ€™t simply relying on the law; theyโ€™re actively shaping it.

yes, it’s reminiscent of the ‘because i said so’ law in many homes. dad doesn’t just make the law, dad is the law. unfortunately, too many americans seem to think the rethugs are ‘dad’, and dad hasn’t given them permission to think for themselves.

    • 96 Nena20409
      August 21, 2012 at 8:44 pm

NBC is making sampling changes now, why? To get better result for Romney. Still Nothing changed. That means, pres Obama is doing much better. The changes took place in the so called 12 swing states. Yet every number polled the pres improved including on how the folks feel about the state of the economy…50% saying that it is getting better. People have eyes, they can see. So with the numbers favoring the president….how did the 12 swing states gap narrow? Fuzzy math or total manipulations? The latter has my cash.

The media is truly pathetic. They keep fawning on how much money the Obama Team have spent. And they tiptoe on and even avoid mentioning the Super PACS…..Karl Roves, KOCH, etc. They were not spending on behalf of the president. They are out spending this president 2-3 to 1.

OMG, almost had a heart attack. saw a tag line on the CBS live feed of PBO’s campaign that said that rockets hit Gen. Dempsey’s plane. Seriously almost shit a brick. I didn’t know I cared about Dempsey so much! I guess it’s because I associate him with PBO and it seems that PBO is very fond of Marty. Thank god he’s okay.

    • August 21, 2012 at 8:28 pm

I’m a little shocked the SS guy agreed to the photo! He’s usually pretty snarly. Love him but he’s a very serious guy! So it was nice to see him pose and smile big for POTUS and the fan.

I wasn’t surprised. I always look at how he interacts with PBO in photos and they always seem relaxed and cool. He’s serious but I bet him and PBO chilax whenever they are together. there is a recent pic of them both that chips posted sometime last week and both are standing close and talking to each other and PBO has his hand on SS guy’s shoulder. There’s also another one from IA or OH road trip where PBO and him are standing infront of the door on Ground Force 1 and they seem pretty chill. I think the SS guy was joking around with PBO. I’m very stalkerish when it comes to PBO and his main SS guy. I have to get the feeling that they are close or else I worry. PBO seemed pretty close with Big Daddy and this new guy. that makes me feel good! ๐Ÿ™‚

        • August 21, 2012 at 8:38 pm

Oh, I totally agree about all that.

I was surprised because he stepped outside his job for a moment, which they don’t ever do when on duty. I’ve smiled at the guy and said hello and he just sorta glared! He doesn’t usually mess around when he’s working.

I have had the same exprience with the SS detail looking after PBO. On two different occassions, I have talked to them when PBO was infront of me at his events and I thanked Mr USS for protecting the PBO and the First Family. The response I got was a “don’t mess with me while I doing this important work” glare. this is pretty funny–
on bloomberg’s page, there is a headline, linking to an article. the headline reads ‘ AKIN DEFYING ROMNEY REMAINS IN SENATE RACE AS DEADLINE PASSES’. yes, i did follow that link! the actual article has a less ‘defiant’ title, and the words ‘defy romney’ do not appear in the article at all. clearly, bloomberg’s editors decided the defiance is the story.

‘ Akinโ€™s comments have reignited a debate over womenโ€™s health and Democrats drew parallels between Akin and Ryan, who cosponsored last year with Akin two measures restricting the definition of rape. ‘

‘ Ryan has cast 59 votes on abortion and other reproductive- rights issues during his 13 years in the House, with all of them qualifying as โ€œanti-choice,โ€ according to NARAL Pro-Choice America, an abortion rights group.’

I still can’t believe the RW hack Jack Tapper. I don’t know if it was posted in the other thread.

Jake Tapper Tells Ingraham โ€˜Media Helped Tip The Scalesโ€™ In 2008

Tapper said that he was concerned that key issues, like the economy, were being ignored in favor of political issues like Mitt Romneyโ€™s tax returns.

    Yea I bet he is.

Ingraham then played a clip of reporter and author Mark Halperin saying that he believes the political press is often guilty of talking about what the Obama campaign wants them to talk about

โ€œI have said beforeโ€ฆ [that I] thought the media helped tip the scales. I didnโ€™t think the coverage in 2008 was especially fair to either Hilary Clinton or John McCain,โ€ said Tapper.

I twitted earlier that yes BO had more coverage but it was almost all negative. Rev. Wright, birth certificate, Muslim, flag pin, etc…..

They wanted to take him down.

No wonder Tapper and the other hypocrites keep whining about the ”tone” of the campaign.

They want to talk about the economy to help Romney, of course never mentioning the obstructions by the baggers in Congress.

The MSM continues to push the idea that talking about anything but ‘the economy’ is somehow a problem. They act like the Presidency is one-dimensional. It is also telling, in terms of what they consider ‘important’ issues. I think they’re full of shit. I want to talk about everything. Also, all these issues indirectly affect the economy, in general, and on the family micro level. Silly people.

White House Press Corps is full of Prima Donna’s. They had been whining because PBO hadn’t had an ‘official’ press conference. I actually prefer it when he gives local interviews. Local reporters ask better, locally relevant questions. The WH Press Corps asks a lot of stupid, annoying questions.

News Flash for those who elevate themselves to be PBO’s equal. You’re not. You also don’t control him. Stop trying to force your stupid narratives on us. Just report the fucking news. And, stop the ‘conventional wisdom’ meme. It. Does. Not. Apply.

    • August 21, 2012 at 8:32 pm

What the moron doesn’t understand is Romney’s tax returns have EVERYTHING to do with the economy and his value regarding how he’ll handle the economy. DUH.

Seeing him say that he thinks PBO got unfair coverage is another nail in the MSM coffin as far as I’m concerned.

    • 152 hopefruit2
      August 21, 2012 at 8:43 pm

      Jake Tapper can KMA!

He sees the writing on the wall and he’s pissed. By all objective accounts, President Obama has received far more negative coverage than Romney, yet he’s still leading in the majority of polls and among key constituent groups, and on the major issues of concern for voters.

Tell JOKE Tapper I said to GO TO HELL!

I knew Jake Tapper was a clown when he asked if Pres.Obama was accusing his “sister network” of not being a real news organization. You all remember that? In 2009, the administration went after Fox News for a bit and the MSM fainted.

After reviewing the details of this poll, I am feeling optimistic about the fall. PBO has it on trust and value issues and I don’t expect horrible economic news in the next couple of months given the recent gains in the stock market. Keep in mind that Romney’s goal is to hide as much of his platform as possible and I expect that will continue in the debates. Given his unfavorables and general unlikeability, that will not play well with the undecided voters. I also hope that at some point, the campaign hits hard on the dollars flowing into the race. I don’t think many are very enthralled with the idea that elections can be bought. Forward!

That’s my school….and I have such fond memories of being there…I worked in that student union as a student there…though this Ohio Union is brand new…they tore down the one I used to work in….I also have sad memories…my mom passed away in the hospital that we both worked in there….many years ago, and only yesterday. DF,

Yes you are right, PBO’s main event was held at Capital in Bexley.

But PBO came in a few hours early and dropped by OSU’s Student Union – it was un-announced stop and the “kids” were super-excited. Move-in day at OSU (under the univ’s very first semester) was Sun and school officially begins tommorrow so timing was all good.

In an unscheduled appearance at a high school football practice in Minneapolis, Vice President Biden said that he wishes he could go back and play football himself.

โ€œIโ€™m vice president, and let me tell you, Iโ€™d trade it all to go back and play my senior year again,โ€ Biden said to the assembled players at South High School.

โ€œThe guy I work with, his sport is basketball. He loves basketball like I love football,โ€ Biden said about President Obama. โ€œHe beat me like a drum — I tried to get the nomination for president โ€“ man, I tell you what, he beat me like a drum. Then he asked me whether Iโ€™d join him as his vice president.โ€

Biden’s remarks come a week after he said his other dream was to win the Daytona 500 in a campaign stop in Virginia. “I’d trade being vice-president in a heartbeat for having won Daytona,” Biden said at a diner in Stuart, Va.

โ€œSo, are you and Obama going to put Mitt Romney down?โ€ one student asked Biden.

Biden wisely declined to answer that question as phrased, saying: โ€œThe answer is, just because the way the press is, I will rephrase your question. Because if we said โ€˜put down,โ€™ Iโ€™m going to hear the headlines now. โ€˜Biden says Obamaโ€™s going to [have Romney] put down.’โ€

โ€œI think weโ€™re going to win this race,โ€ Biden assured the student.

    Do Not be fooled:)

The Romney campaign’s response is that college costs have increased under President Obama, which is one of those charges that’s true as far as it goesโ€”except that the president does not set tuition levels, and Romney’s charges depend on no one looking at his record in Massachusetts. Romney likes to tout a program in Massachusetts that gave free tuition at state universities for high-scoring high school students.
There was only one problem: due to the structure of university costs in Massachusetts, free tuition meant little because non-tuition fees are egregiously high. For example, the scholarship covered only 7 percent of total costs at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, according to the Boston Globe. And while tuition leveled out, other college costs grew by 63 percent during Romney’s tenure.
So those charges about Obama making college less affordable might be convincing as long as no one looks at Romney’s past record or his plans for the future, or notices that Obama has added $40 billion in Pell Grants along with other initiatives to make college more affordable.

GOP platform gets tougher on immigration
    By: James Hohmann
    August 21, 2012 04:46 PM EDT

TAMPA, Fla.โ€” Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach persuaded the Republican platform committee Tuesday to toughen its language on immigration.

โ€œWe recognize that if you really want to create a job tomorrow, you can remove an illegal alien today,โ€ he told the 100-plus representatives to the committee. โ€œThat is the way to open up jobs very quickly for U.S. citizen workers and lawfully admitted alien workers.โ€

The committee agreed to restore 2008 platform planks that didnโ€™t appear in a draft prepared by Republican National Committee staff, who worked in close consultation with Mitt Romneyโ€™s campaign.

The platform committee overwhelmingly voted to add language proposed by Kobach calling for the completion of a border fence, the end of in-state tuition for illegal immigrants and an end to sanctuary cities. It also voted to support national E-Verify, an Internet database run by the federal government that makes it harder for undocumented workers to get jobs.

Trying to make inroads with Latino votes, Romney has toned down the hardline rhetoric he used in the primaries. The GOP convention is also being held in the key state of Florida, which is home to a large population of Hispanic voters that Republicans realize are key to the partyโ€™s electoral chances and future.

Kobach, who wrote Arizona’s and Alabamaโ€™s controversial immigration laws, reminded the group of Republicans in a ballroom at the Marriott hotel here of Romneyโ€™s stated positions on the hot-button issue

โ€œThese positions are consistent with the Romney campaign,โ€ he said. โ€œAs you all will remember one of the primary reasons that Gov. Romney rose past Gov. [Rick] Perry when Mr. Perry was achieving first place in the polls was because of his opposition to in-state tuition for illegal aliens.โ€

Kobach quoted a passage from Romneyโ€™s website that says the soon-to-be GOP nominee will build a high-tech fence and eliminate the magnets for illegal immigration.

Mitt Romney To Donors: I Would Explain My Energy Plan, But Reporters Are Here

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney started to lay out his energy plan at a Tuesday event, but because there were reporters in the room, he decided against doing so.

During a Houston fundraiser, Romney told a room of about 125 donors that he planned to unveil his comprehensive energy plan this week. He said his proposal will specifically relate to fossil-based fuels. But then, he said no more.

“I know that we have members of the media here right now, so Iโ€™m not going to go through that in great detail,” Romney said, according to a pool report from the event.

    http://occupyamerica.crooksandliars.com/diane-sweet/5-reasons-romney-ryan-economic-plan-wo

    1. More unemployment through austerity measures.

    2. Taking from the poor to give to the rich. Higher federal taxes on lower income taxpayers, slashing medicaid, food stamps, and children’s health care in order to give up to a $500k tax cut to millionaires and billionaires.

    3. Turns Medicare into vouchers that won’t keep up with the rising cost of health care and shifting the burden onto seniors, ending their guaranteed health care, and leaving them at the mercy of private insurers. By contrast, Obama’s Affordable Care Act saves money on Medicare by reducing payments to providers such as hospitals and drug companies.

    4. Add money to defense spending. The plan would add money to defense spending while cutting spending on education, infrastructure, and basic research and development.

    5. Debt: The Romney-Ryan budget doesn’t even reduce the federal budget deficit. While adding to military spending, giving tax cuts to the rich, and stifling economic growth by cutting spending too early, the plan would push public debt to over 175% by 2050.

No wonder Mitt Romney doesn’t want to talk about his budget until after the election!
