Heads Up: President Obama in Rochester, N.H.

Don’t know whether this starts at 3:35 or 4:35, seeing as the last speech started an hour early, so this could be the earliest heads-up in the history of heads-ups 😕

** President Obama delivers remarks at a campaign event at Rochester Commons in Rochester, N.H. **

No! No, HF! Not this time. I was putting the chicken to marinate for tomorrow when I suddenly remembered that the previous speech was an hour early, so I washed hands, rushed over, and ‘woke up’ my laptop. AND THERE Chips was opening the door! I just about fell over trying to get my wet hand on the door handle. No strategy at all this time, just pure luck.

The photos lift my heart, Chips. Thanks!

Listening to the earlier speech… OMG he called it “trickle down snake oil” today not fairy dust. WOW! and this:

“It did not work then, it will not work now, it’s not a plan to create jobs…it’s the wrong direction for America…I think they know it’s not a very popular idea. You can tell that because now they’re being dishonest about my plans because they can’t sell their plans.” and he launches into a blistering attack on their Medicare positions.

I find it ‘interesting’ that so many presenters of the Pres tend to use most of, if not all, his speech points. What’s with that?

Please tell us once and for all, are you an Obama supporter? Because we can’t tell from your gravatar, or your comments! 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • August 18, 2012 at 5:27 pm

Hi Me4obama, I certainly don’t think you are a lunartic, just a passionate supporter of the greatest President, just like me! I thought I had almost all the available Obama gear but I think you might just beat me!!! My study at home is literally decorated with Obama posters, pictures, photos and a clock which takes pride of place. I have collected mugs, plates, t-shirts, caps etc over the years and even when I was ‘advised’ by members of my family that I should not wear or collect things on PBO I refused to listen.

There is something really special about President Obama, I don’t know whether it is his inner beauty, compassion, intelligence, eloquence or the fact that he just ‘gets it’, but the truth of the matter is that I love him and his family and I love what he is doing for America and the rest of the world.

I thought I was the only one. I have posters, stickers, buttons, the canvas bags from 2008 Runway to Win, one 2012 T, a couple of Obama tees from 2008, the wrapping paper,2012 magnet on car and postcard on refrigerator. I also have his pics on my computer and iPad.

I think I like that Obama dude.

The Paul Ryan Plan Is Weak And Assumes The Economic Equivalent Of Winning The Lottery Twice

    Peter Schiff, Euro Pacific Capital

So what was the Ryan Budget’s radical departure from the status quo that has caused such uproar? If enacted today, the Ryan budget would so drastically upend the fiscal picture that the U.S. federal budget would come into balance in just… wait for it…. 27 years! This is because the Ryan budget doesn’t actually cut anything. At no point in Ryan’s decades long budget timeline does he ever suggest that the government spend less than it had the year before. He doesn’t touch a penny in current Social Security or Medicare outlays, nor in the bloated defense budget. His apocalypse inducing departure comes from trying to limit the rate of increase in federal spending to “just” 3.1% annually. This is below the 4.3% rate of increase that is currently baked into the budget, and farther below what we would likely see if Obama’s priorities were adopted.

Because there are no actual cuts in his budget, Ryan hopes that fiscal balance can be restored by 2040 only because he assumes that we achieve returns to the annual economic growth that are equal to levels averaged for much of the last century. In other words, he sees slow growth of the last four years as the aberration, not the new normal. As with all other government projections, this is on the extreme optimistic end of the spectrum. In truth, there is nothing on the horizon that should make anyone think these growth figures will be achieved. America’s crushing debt, burdensome regulations, political paralysis, and nagging demographic problems bode poorly for the return to trend line growth anytime soon. More likely, based on the speed to which republicans will shrink from popular backlash, is that the “cuts” that Ryan proposes will be abandoned as soon as they prove to be politically unpopular.

Great speech, great campaign event! Excellent riff on the Ryan plan to give Romney a less than 1% tax rate. We need to keep the word “Vouchers” front and center. Vouchers to fund tax breaks for millionaires. Medicare is the GOP piggy bank for tax breaks for the wealthy.

Where has the real Mark Knoller gone? Ever since Snark Knoller returned to twitter, Mark Knoller has actually been tweeting facts about Pres. Obama’s campaign events, white house “We Can’t Wait” issues, etc. This is very strange. I’m sure this was one of the signs of the apocalypse. Nah…..he probably just ate some prunes that cleared up the constipated hell hole he calls his digestive system.

I was just reading his timeline and he is still repeating junk about Romney and Ryan.

I e-mailed CBS and asked them how much they pay him to count empty seats at the President’s events . I also said… I thought he was assigned to cover the President and the Whitehouse….why is he sending out snarky comments about PBO on twitter and also tweeting about Romney and Ryan’s every word and movement !

He was being nasty up this morning. But he mixes it up with some okay tweets now and then. It’s just a matter of when you catch him. He’s still a GOP tool. And apparently he blocked BWD – why I don’t know.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) — Lenders would have to offer potential home buyers an option to get mortgages with no fees, under a rule proposed by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Generally, homeowners pay fees and points in exchange for lower overall interest rates on mortgage loans.
“Consumers have a hard time comparing loans when they are dealing with a bewildering array of points and fees,” said Richard Cordray, director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, in a statement. “We want to provide consumers with clearer options and enable them to choose the loan that they believe is right for them.”

Hundreds of supporters jammed one of the development’s “town squares,” where free entertainment and boozy dances each night have helped this community of 60,000 seniors earn a somewhat double-edged reputation as Disney World for the Cialis set.

Open-air bars at the event began pouring before 8 a.m. Happy-hour pricing was in effect: $2.75 for a 14-ounce margarita. However, a Chick-fil-A stand did a brisker business.

The privately held, and tightly controlled, retirement complex is a regular campaign stop for GOP presidential candidates.

Romney counts billionaire H. Gary Morse, who built The Villages on more than 30 square miles of central Florida farmland, among his campaign’s biggest donors.

Sounds like a private ” whites only ” country club to me. I think their is a Publix ( Alec members ) on site.

    • August 18, 2012 at 5:37 pm

60,000 rich white seniors? Drinking margaritas at 8am and eating Chic-fil-A? ACK, that’s just freakin’ gross. You know, it’s good they round themselves all in one place and stay there. UGH.

Technically the article didn’t really say all 60K in the community attended the rally. Just a few hundred. I am curious to know the exact head count. My guess is not much because I believe I read somewhere (forgot which article) that the attendees were pre-selected by the candidate’s team.

I wonder how many other journalists follow @SnarkKnoller. Mark “dickhead” Halperin does:

Here’s another @delcecato tweet. He’s worth following on twitter because he’s the manager of the ad agency used by PBO’s campaign.
