Whoever the guy is talking now is ON POINT!! He showed his Social Security print out. “I’ve been paying into Social Security and Medicare for longer than Paul Ryan has been alive!” “And this guy wants to throw that away and throw me into the private sector so I can buy insurance when I retire? That’s why there are millions of Americans are uninsured now!!”

I liked that guy. OFA Team Leader is speaking now.

Endless pictures. Thanks Chips. Love the one where he is holding the baby.

He is the most amazing campaigner. And he even knows how to hold a newborn. The SS guy in that picture is giving that baby a hard look like it might attack PBO. I actually love watching the SS. They’re never looking at him but at everyone else. And the hand on the back — can’t lose contact that way. PBO just wades into the crowds and givves every appearance of having a great time.

Me? I’m exhausted just reading his schedule!

BREAKING: Oh no, during the President’s speech, in that picture near the middle I noticed a space behind the person in green and those behind him/her! Hmmmm. Has anyone reported on this yet?

the kids with the homemade sign are adorable – they look Latino – and unlike Romney’s grandkids know how to spell names correctly.

We should all keep up the “voucher/COUPON” description. There are other programs (not Ryan’s plan, but still…) where a voucher may actually cover all that is needed.

Most folks, especially older folks, just aren’t going to listen to all of this “hoopin’ and hollerin’ ” as my sweet mama used to call it.

But trust, they understand that a Medicare COUPON will not cover the whole cost of want you want to purchase. Everybody knows that a coupon just takes a few pennies off the price. And you still have to pay the difference.

Those CNN , CBS, CSPAN links are playing RR campaigns…lots of seniors there…don’t they know they’ll get screwed? Or their kids will get screwed??? Do they care?

Nope they don’t care. All they know is that they want the Black guy out of their White House. That.Is.All!

No, I think most of us understand why these older repub voters would be willing to vote against their self interest. Racism is a strong emotion thaat drives people to do some really crazy things!

    Boom! http://prospect.org/article/coming-obama-landslide

ean Trende (who is far from easy toward Obama) points out at Real Clear Politics, this new vulnerability introduces the potential for something that was quite unlikely before—an Obama landslide. He explains:

I’ve always thought that Obama wouldn’t be able to win more than a two-to-three-point re-election victory, mainly because a president almost never wins the votes of people who disapprove of the job that he is doing, and Obama’s approval rating is unlikely to be much above 50 percent on Election Day. But, while I don’t think it’s guaranteed, this really does give Democrats an opportunity to make Romney so radioactive that people who don’t like the president nevertheless vote for him. If the white working class revolts at the prospect of the Ryan plan, Obama really could match, or even exceed, his 2008 showing.

There’s always a tendency to assume some strategic calculation on the part of politicians—or find some reason for why a given choice isn’t a bad one—but in this case, the simplest explanation is probably the correct one. Ryan is an unknown politician with a deeply unpopular plan. Right now, the conventional wisdom is that this somehow means he was a smart pick who can help Romney win voters who are looking for “big” solutions to our problems.

Ignoring, for a moment, the fact that Ryan doesn’t actually offer solutions to mass unemployment or budget sustainability, it’s worth focusing on the obvious: It’s never a good thing when your vice presidential pick makes it more likely you’ll lose.

  15. August 14, 2012 at 8:25 pm

President Obama’s campaign really needs to hit Romney/Ryan HARD with advertisements, speeches, rallies, tweets, etc. I’m afraid that the R & R lies are getting out there unchallenged. We’re going to have to fight toe to toe with the Repubs as they’ll say absolutely anything and go as low as they have to go to win this election.

    Go Obama!

I’d like to see the RR twins just having their own words used against them…or other Republicans against this dastardly duo…flip flopping all over the place…like fish on a boat deck….

Take heart my friends, the R & R lies are NOT going unchallenged. If you watch cable news or MSM online sites, you may come away with that impression. But that is not the case.

    • August 14, 2012 at 8:33 pm

They are not being unchallanged by the Obama campaign. Pres.Obama is out there, Axe, Biden, and his other surrogates too. they have commercials pushing back on all of Mitt’s lies.

President Obama stopped at the Pump Haus in Cedar Falls, great photos later no doubt. Nice big crowd on a beautiful night waiting for him in Waterloo. Lots of security for the outdoor event. Saw they even had divers in the river earlier as part of the security check.

We should send Soledad some love..http://videocafe.crooksandliars.com/david/soledad-obrien-fact-checks-sununu-you-cant-j

The chairman of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s national steering committee on Tuesday angrily shouted for a CNN anchor to “put an Obama bumper sticker on your forehead” after she tried to fact check Republican claims about Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) plan to overhaul Medicare.

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien pointed out to Romney surrogate John Sununu that the candidate’s plan would turn Medicare into a voucher system much like the budget proposal offered by his vice presidential pick, Paul Ryan.

“It’s sounds awfully like the Paul Ryan Medicare plan,” O’Brien noted after reading details from Romney’s website.

“But it’s very different,” Sununu insisted. “For example when [President Barack] Obama gutted Medicare by taking $717 billion out of it, the Romney plan does not do that. The Ryan plan mimicked part of the Obama package, the Romney plan does not. That’s a big difference.”

“I understand that this is a Republican talking point because I’ve heard it repeated over and over again,” O’Brien observed. “These numbers have been debunked, as you know, by the Congressional Budget Office. … I can tell you what it says. [Obama’s plan] cuts a reduction in the expect rate of growth, which you know, not cutting budgets to the elderly. Benefits will be improved.”

“Soledad, stop this!” Sununu shouted. “All you’re doing is mimicking the stuff that comes out of the White House and gets repeated on the Democratic blog boards out there.”

“I’m telling you what Factcheck.com tells you, I’m telling you what the CBO tells you, I’m telling you what CNN’s independent analysis says,” the CNN host explained.

“Put an Obama bumper sticker on your forehead when you do this!” the frustrated surrogate shot back.

“You know, let me tell you something,” O’Brien said. “There is independent analysis that details what this is about. … And name calling to me and somehow by you repeating a number of $716 billion, that you can make that stick when [you say] that figure is being ‘stolen’ from Medicare, that’s not true. You can’t just repeat it and make it true, sir.”

After Romney on Saturday announced that he had selected Ryan as the vice presidential nominee, a campaign memo sought to distance the presidential candidate’s plan from Ryan’s budget proposal, insisting that “as president he will be putting together his own plan.”

But on Monday, Romney refused to say where his plan differed from Ryan’s vision of turning Medicare into a voucher system.

“My plan for Medicare is very similar to his plan for Medicare,” the former Massachusetts governor told reporters in Miami. “My plan, like his, really expands Medicare Advantage. It says, let’s give people more opportunity to take advantage of not just the standard Medicare, but also the [private insurance] policies that are available in the market place.”

The internal polls for the Romney campaign was be awful. I thought he would begin to become unhinged about this time in October.
