OFA: During a quick stop off in Denison, IA on the first day of President Obama’s bus tour across Iowa, there was a young supporter who had to get to the bottom of something that had been puzzling him for some time.
“Are you Spider-Man’s boss?”
And the President’s response…
“Well, I’m the Commander-in-Chief. But Spider-Man is a free agent.”
That’s a funny one!
Hey how did you get in front of me. Oh I see it’s a TIE at 1:24. We need King Solomon to resolve this tie. Anyway congrats Regster26 ๐
PBO on fiyaaaahhhhhh!
Yay! first. Haven’t done this is quite a while. Hey Field Marshall Chips, where’s my prize? ๐ ๐
Zizi!!!!!! Although your victory was actually cruelly stolen by Regster26, whose FIRST! was stuck in pending – but you win the first non-pending first pic ๐
Ok thanks for being a wonderful referee. I heard PBO say that live and I fell off my chair, especially how he paused and chuckled before delivering the punch line. Vintage PBO dry wit. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
I watched a quick clip of FL Michelle last night, on Leno, and when she explained the kissing incident, it was lovely to see that Malia was the one who orchestrated the whole thing. Knocked them over the head when they missed the first kiss-cam. Engineered a chance at redemption, then sat with them to supervise the whole thing and make sure they didn’t miss it the second time. Lovely!
It was hilarious Theo. Cracked up at Malia being “disgusted”!!
I saw them talking about that on Leno last night. And Malia set Mom and Dad up for the Kiss Cam. So they could get it right this time.
Haha—-at a stop in Denison, Ia. today a young boy asks Obama if he is Spiderman’s boss. President Obama replied that he is commander in chief but spiderman is a free agent. ๐
CUTEST THING EVERRRRRR.
That was a beautiful dig at Romney. All 100% true. Don’t fucking mess with Pres. Obama! He honed his skills in Chicago. They don’t grow them wimpy over there. ๐
It was a thing of beauty, UT! I think it could be made into an AD with some other information for WIND ENERGY!
“wind mill on your car”? “a fad”? Ya got the Stupid running on the gop ticket.
Holy Smokes! Steve Aoki the kickass DJ is a DJ for Obama 2012? Woooooooot! Steve Aoki is so freaking cool. Pres. Obama is hands down the coolest President EVER! The absolute COOLEST! ๐
HAHAHA! PBO is too cool. As someone said, ‘he can cut you off at the knees and leave you thinking you were just born short’.
โhe can cut you off at the knees and leave you thinking you were just born shortโ
First time hearing this, but I like it particularly because it reminds me of the care PBO takes, IMO, to be VERY EFFECTIVE yet without inflicting a grinding, teeth-numbing, open pain on the victim.
It reminds me of the following from Monty Python and the Holy Grail:
ARTHUR: I command you as King of the Britons to stand aside!
BLACK KNIGHT: I move for no man.
ARTHUR: So be it!
[hah]
[parry thrust]
[ARTHUR chops the BLACK KNIGHT’s left arm off]
ARTHUR: Now stand aside, worthy adversary.
Note the “worthy adversary”.
Noted, TM. ๐ ๐
lolol I love that. Gotta tweet it and give credit to the unknown author.

Could someone give me a lists of accomplishments of Rep Ryan’s for his entire life time, and what does his resume looks like during his 14 years in Washington as a congressman. I believe the voters need to know what his qualifications are for this VP slot.
He sponsored or signed off on 900-some bills. Two were passed: naming a post office and changing tax on hunting arrows.
Apparently, the post office was named after a Democrat. The GOP will probably claim that as “bi-partisanship”.
Tee hee hee! Chuckle. Chuckle.
13years in congress, a whopping TWO bills of his passed.
Impressive, huh?
All I know is that he has passed only 2 bills—–one to rename a post office and one to change the excise tax on hunting arrows——not exactly a record to brag about—–or even mention.
Here is a more specific breakdown, with a link.
“But Ryan has been in the House of Representatives for 14 years and has proposed many, many other bills. Looking through the Library of Congressโs records , I counted 71 bills or amendments that Ryan has sponsored 71 bills or amendments and 971 bills that he has co-sponsored. Thatโs a lot of legislation, and some of it is pretty interesting.”
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/wp/2012/08/11/paul-ryans-non-budget-policy-record-in-one-post/
Don’t forget, one of those failed bills was his attempt to privatize Social Security, which was rejected by George W Bush because it was too extreme.
Lol, that was a good one ๐
Thanks everyone, Paul Ryan has no record to run on, no achievements to add to Rmoney’s ticket or that would benefit anyone in the US, nothing, a big fat zero. Rmoney said he chose Ryan because he spent 14 years in Washington, but what does that really mean substantially?
It means he can find his way to the bathroom and the gym for those P90X workouts.
This is going to have me chuckling all day just like the RomneyHood moment.
๐ ๐ ๐
Get ‘im, Mr. President!
*cue willard whining & claiming exhaustion in 3, 2, 1 . . . *
A comment from a Steve Benen post:
“During my morning perambulations around the Internet I came across several articles about the Ryan’s family business. Building highways, since 1910. Defense contracts, Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, yada yada yada.(All paid for by the taxpayer)
He’s worth- along with his “better richer half”, over $7 million dollars. All is on a congresssman’s salary. . “
Thanks!
oh geez, I switch away from stuffy, puffy Sununu’s lies on msnbc and switch to cnn where Ryan in Lakewood, Co. was saying, “You have to elect Joe Coors” of the Coors brewing co. fame, extreme, radical right whackjobs, all of them. Yah, good idea—–a Congress full of Michele Bachmanns. Just what we need.
This is just too cute. Kids loooooooooove Pres. Obama.
The thing about pictures of President Obama with kids, versus Romney, is that President Obama actually interacts with them. Babies, toddlers, kids, teenagers. He’s always actually engaging them as living, breathing, worthwhile human beings. With Romney, he’s posing for a photo op. Period.
We laughed because we saw a glimpse of Willard with a baby on the news yesterday, and the baby was trying to wrangle away.
Yes, Theo! Yet it is Romney who champions the unborn, and it is POTUS who embraces the born! Children know the real deal.
Anyone wonder if Willard could have come up with such a ‘quality’ answer off the top of his head? He probably would have just said ‘yes’, as after all the U S presidency makes one ‘powerful’ and ‘famous’.
So cute indeed.
I have to add something. Every time I see white kids smiling at President Obama with total abandon, my heart just melts. You just sense that they couldn’t care less that he’s a black man. They see him for what he is: a good man they can be comfortable with, and at the same time an important man worthy of respect.
It gives me hope. Generation after generation, it gets better.
I know EXACTLY what you mean!!! And isn’t it amazing that it took so long but happened so fast.
Young people are really our better angels.
Principal at Miller School in Marshalltown prepares for President Obama’s visit. Obama people chose the old gym over the new gym because they liked the quaint setting. There’s a photo of a big truck delivering seating to the school. I know this is a big duh, but lots of prep go into these trips. Would it be fun to be on the advance team?

Wouldn’t be a PBO campaign visit without a stop to a local eatery:
http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/08/14/president-obama-makes-surprise-visit-to-knoxville-coffee-shop/
Just read that—–liked that he wrote an excuse for a woman who was going to be late to work. Interesting that he chatted with shop owner who is running for county commissioner as a Repub who said he was undecided who he would vote for in pres. election, that he respected the job President Obama has done under difficult circumstances.
Now even if he still slavishly votes republican, I daresay the Pres just laid the groundwork for a potential ‘bipartisan’ commissioner when voting on issues.
Lots of unusual PBO stories on the DSM Register now: http://www.desmoinesregister.com/
– morning after workout, secret WH brewery, disgruntled beer tent owner (naturally he’s a Repub)
.I suspect that beer vendor is exaggerating and is just another hateful Repub. None of the other nearby vendors said their business was affected by the Obama fair visit. And the beer vendor guy has ignored the Obama campaign’s outreach and was spurred on by Grassley, who was trying to stir up trouble all afternoon re. the Obama stop.
Republicans are miserable people……..
Now. That seems like a perfectly logical question, and an AWESOME answer! ๐
Has anyone seen Miss Ann lately? I thought we were waiting for her to return from her Olympics fling to hold Mitt up so he could introduce the VP – but I must have missed her on the big boat.
She was there—–both families. They just didn’t have her come prancing down all those steps to the majestic music.
Oh, thank goodness – I was worried! ๐ BTW, Jon Stewart had some good snark about all those steps for those introductions.
Quick de-lurk to share news of what the GOP political class *really* thinks of the Paul Ryan pick (forgive the politico link but this is too delicious):
GOP pros fret over Paul Ryan
Youโve heard them on television and read them on POLITICO โ cheerful, defiant statements from Republican political professionals about Mitt Romneyโs bold masterstroke in tapping Paul Ryan as his running mate, and turning the 2012 presidential race into a serious, far-reaching debate about budgets and the nationโs future.
Donโt buy it.
Away from the cameras, and with all the usual assurances that people arenโt being quoted by name, there is an unmistakable consensus among Republican operatives in Washington: Romney has taken a risk with Ryan that has only a modest chance of going right โ and a huge chance of going horribly wrong.
In more than three dozen interviews with Republican strategists and campaign operatives โ old hands and rising next-generation conservatives alike โ the most common reactions to Ryan ranged from gnawing apprehension to hair-on-fire anger that Romney has practically ceded the election.

Shades of 2008, when Peggy Noonan was caught on an open mic slamming the Palin pick (she didn’t realize that the mic was still live).
The GOP knows that Ryan is a fail pick as much as we do.
Hi all, I see that Seamus is trending on twitter.
I wonder if Rmoney took a tax write for old Seamus running away? I bet $10,000 he did.
tax “right off”
New post everyone:

Lame.
They are just going to keep lying and accuse us of lying. Pathetic Campaign.
