Thanks you Chips for possting that picture. We had a good meeting today. I can hardly wait until the 21st. We have a campaign rally, I will let you all know who will be there. I sure wished we could have seen the President today, but after looking at his schedule, new it wasn’t going to happen. I would have loved to have had a SnowCone:)

I’d faint if I saw that big black bus.

  3. August 13, 2012 at 5:58 pm

I’m so glad Gabby is being honoured there with the First Lady – I as irate when I kept seeing the other gymnasts honoured during the few Olympic roundups I saw yesterday – with no, or little, mention of Gabby – who actually won the All-Round. She deserves to be honoured.

Vilsack is on the stage in Boone, saying he studied Ryan’s budget plan, that it would absolutely shred the safety net for farmers. (and, I might add, for everyone else)
An enterprising farmer along the way posted a sign saying, “Barack, fresh sweet corn off the stalk”—–wanting him to make a corn stop obviously.

  5. August 13, 2012 at 6:01 pm

OMG Robme is repeating again the lie about you didn’t build it. Wish CBS would switch over to PBO early. This is gross.

    • August 13, 2012 at 6:03 pm

What an idiot. He said that if a kid gets on the honor roll she might have taken a bus, but she deserves credit for her grads. Ummm what about the school and teachers?

“God gave us the rights to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness”…oops wasn’t that the Declaration of Independence, not the word of god?

I may have to watch Jay to catch FLOTUS and Gabby. Also, for folks on twitter, please make sure you are retweeting and interesting tweets that mention Romney and taxes. We want to make sure this stays in the conversation and doesn’t get lost in the Paul Ryan VP pick.

Romney’s constitutional amendment disqualifies Ryan for no business experience
    http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/08/13/romneys-constitutional-amendment-disqualifies-ryan-for-no-business-experience/

A constitutional amendment suggested by presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney would have barred Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) from serving as his running mate.

Speaking to supporters in Las Vegas last May, Romney told the story of a man who said the Constitution should be amended to require three years of business experience to be qualified to be president of the United States.

The amendment would say that “the president has to spend three years working in business before he becomes president of the United States,” Romney explained. “Then he or she would understand that the policies they are putting into place have to encourage small business to grow.”

BuzzFeed’s Andrew Kaczsynski posted the video on Monday and noted that the amendment would have disqualified Ryan.

The 12th Amendment of the Constitution states that the vice president must meet all of the same eligibility requirements as the president.

“I think this reflects how dumb Romney’s proposed constitutional amendment is, not Ryan’s fitness for the presidency,” The Washington Post‘s Ezra Klein wrote. “It also reflects Romney’s tendency to take positions strategically without carefully considering their long-term impact.”

“When he made that comment, was it really so difficult for him to imagine naming a vice president without business experience? That would, for instance, disqualify career military men, like Gen. David Petraeus.”

Yeah, Former Florida GOP chairman Jim Greer is under indictment and he’s singin’ like a canary, but he’s only tellin’ what plenty of us already know. Folks need to listen to him.

“There’s no doubt that what the Republican-led legislature in Florida and Governor Scott are trying to do is make sure the Republican Party has an advantage in this upcoming election by reducing early voting and putting roadblocks up for potential voters, Latinos, African-Americans to register and then to exercise their right to vote. There’s no doubt. I was in the room. It’s part of the strategy.”

How Obama Will Cash In on Paul Ryan: Medicare, Taxes, Education & More

    By Robert Shrum

    ———————————————

The Ryan-Romney ticket has its answers, contrived and unconvincing. Ryan, we’re told, is making “the tough choices.” Yes, tough on ordinary people—and easy on the top 1 percent. Indeed, he’s neither a serious economist nor a genuine intellectual; the life of his mind is rooted in Ayn Rand’s idolatry of selfishness. And his plan is a fiscal trick that wouldn’t balance the budget until … 2040—when Romney would be 93 years old. Talk about change you can’t believe in.

This is a battle the Obama side will win. So is the contest over the claim that the Ryan plan would give seniors the option of staying with “traditional” Medicare. But if a bare-bones private plan could be purchased with a voucher—or as Ryan euphemistically calls it, “premium support”—and costs less than comprehensive Medicare coverage, recipients would have to pay the difference.

Romney strategists know the danger here. The morning of Ryan’s anointment, they rushed out talking points that labored to create a little distance between the two men: “Gov. Romney applauds Paul Ryan for going in the right direction … And as president, he will be putting together his own plan.” But Romney repeatedly embraced the Ryan proposal during the primaries; he’s right there on tape saying it would be “marvelous” to pass it. That tape will prove far more persuasive than any expedient and mealy mouthed evasions. If Romney tries to run or tiptoe away, he will trip over his own flip-flops.

OK, so I’ve finally gotten this thing to work. some of you probably weren’t even here when I first posted about all of this. I wrote an article on a blog site about Mitt’s pick for VP. the site belongs to #2 and she asked me to take over the blog portion. I’m trying to write to the young voter about this coming election. This is the first in a series. I lost the original article (forgot to save the draft) and had to redo it. Anyway, here it is, many hours later for your perusal:

Only now are they showing the end where he’s working the rope line. They also did not cover Joe Biden today, but covered Ryan. And CSPAN is supposed to be a public utility?

Michelle Obama is teasing Olympic champion Gabby Douglas about eating fast food to celebrate her achievements.

…. When Douglas was asked how she marked her stellar Olympic showing, the 16-year-old gymnast said she “splurged” on a McDonalds’ sandwich.

Mrs. Obama responded, “You’re setting me back, Gabby,” which drew a “Sorry!” from the athlete.

They do love it and they take advantage o f it. They just can’t admit it for fear they’d get run out of their teabutt social circle. They all sit around with their crazy talk pretending that they wold rather die, than take any gubmint hand outs. Then they gladly send in their insurance premium payment which includes all of the stuff they complain about. Same with welfare and food stamps. Don’t let them fool you. They put up this facade to entertain each other. It’s called cognitive dissonance. It keeps them from having to admit to a much deeper and sinister reason for their views,

Remember back in the ’08 primaries where they had that First Lady “debate”. It was hosted by Maria Shriver. Well, each spouse was asked what political achievement of their hubby’s that they were the most proud of. Well, Ann Romney gave a wonderful answer about how proud she was that her husband passed a health care bill in Massachusetts. She seemed really genuine about it.

But now, she can’t even talk about it! And it’s Michelle who can go out there and talk about how proud she is for her man doing what president after president failed to do! I love it. Ann must be pissed.

Romney-Ryan Economic Plans Would Increase Unemployment, Deepen Recession

    By Ari Berman

    ————————————-

Much has been written in recent days about Paul Ryan’s plans to privatize Medicare, dismantle Social Security, massively cut taxes for the wealthy and drastically redistribute income from the bottom to the top.
    .
    .
Heather Boushey of the Center for American Progress calls Ryan’s budget “austerity on steroids,” while Mike Konczal of the Roosevelt Institute dubs it “bizarro stimulus.” Explains Konczal: “These are arguments that doing things traditionally thought of as the opposite of economic stimulus will be the real stimulus and help bring unemployment down.” (Ryan’s also a fierce critic of actions taken by the Federal Reserve to reduce unemployment.)

This is what Romney bought into by selecting Paul Ryan:

I really hope this is the end of the wingnut GOP, and that the GOP Millennials bring back the “Rockefeller Republicans” that Mitt’s father represented.

I made the mistake of watching Morning Joe’s panel discussion on the selection of Ryan, and really wanted to throw up afterwards. Joe was absolutely orgasmic and Halperin couldn’t contain himself. Andrea Mitchell and Jon Meacheam were no better. Only Al Hunt (at the very end) said something about the discussion would sooner or later return to how we’re gonna pay for lowering taxes on the very rich. Absolutely vile discussion.

I’m taking the TOD community’s advice and quitting his show cold turkey.
