Mitt the mendacious and Ryan the ridiculous!

    • August 11, 2012 at 6:47 pm

Judging from Ryan’s speech earlier today (what little of it I could stomach), he plans to join Mitt in the mendacious category. If he really believes in his plan and ideology, why can’t he just tell the truth?

I got this as an e-mail today. Forgive me if you’ve seen it before.

This makes sense, and it is non-partisan. Please pass this on.

Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:

“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
    for re-election.

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)
took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple!
The people demanded it. That was in 1971 – before computers, e-mail,
    cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land – all because of public pressure.

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to
a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask
each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will
have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed
    around.

    Congressional Reform Act of 2012

    1. No Tenure / No Pension.

A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they’re out of office.

    2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
    Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

    3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
    Americans do.

    4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

    5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.

    6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
    American people.

    7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 12/1/12. The American people did not make this
    contract with Congressmen/women.
Congress made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will
only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive
the message. Don’t you think it’s time?
THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!
If you agree, pass it on. If not, delete.
You are one of my 20+ – Please keep it going, and thanks.

Who is sponsoring this bill Yardarm, the GOP and DINO’s won’t let this see the light of day and the GOP and DINO’s in the Senate will filibuster this also. This current set of representives are too self-serving but let me know where to go to get the ball rolling, I am all in.

Still chuckling over the Paul Ryan pick. Comedians and liberal actors and actresses alike are a hoot on twitter. OFA is leading the charge but the comics and actors are helping out. They’ve been tweeting links to articles about Ryan’s destructive policies, crazy Bush sanctioned congressional voting record, his stance against all things pro-women, his stance against anything pro-students; etc.

Romney in an attempt to deflect from his abysmal poll numbers and questions regarding his tax returns, listened to Bill Kristol and rushed his VP pick. Now he’s had to cancel his weekend media blitz-palooza. It’s great to have the field set as early as this. Once and for all, pundits now have to agree this has always been a choice election not the much ballyhooed “referendum against Pres. Obama” election.

UT, I am so elated that Mitt listened to his buddy, Kristol. POB has been telling the American people that this will be a “choice election.” Pundits will be eating their words for sure now. I love the way in which our president is always ahead of these foolish men and women in the circus coming to town.

We love you and respect you, Mr. President.HZ

Very well said HZ! President Obama has an amazing foresight. Even before he became the presumptive GOP nominee, President Obama’s team was from the get go focused on Mitt Romney. Recently the President has focused on articulating the different visions between him and Romney.

Republican Presidents were responsible for nearly 74% of this nation’s deficit.
    Dems responsible for about 15%….

That false premise of fiscal responsibility took hold for R’s and it shouldn’t have. They have NO BUSINESS claiming to be good with the nation’s money!

Where’s that picture of Pres Obama and VP Joe laughing? Or how about the one where Axe and the team are laughing around a table somewhere. I think they’re watching a game or something. This is one where that tweet of SOS Hillary on the plane could be hilarious, “He chose who??? ha, ha, ha!!!!”

For all the noise about PBO not being able to run on his record, now he doesn’t have to. He can run on Ryan’s. Geeze, if I wasn’t such a Dem, I’d manage Mitt’s campaign for half the cost.

      August 11, 2012 at 6:52 pm

However, the President CAN run on his record, in spite of what some msm people keep saying. He can and he is, and will continue to do so. He has also said since beginning the campaign, that this election is a choice, and now more people will understand that. Romney was so vague, people didn’t realize the choice. Ryan puts it there in black and white.
My husband made an interesting comment: they are both religious fanatics (I do not think I’m overstating here), but their religion has made no difference in their lives, has given them no compassion or care for others.

So who takes Ryan’s place in the house for Wisconsin? Wasn’t he on the ballot this year? Is there a strong Dem to win this seat?

  19. August 11, 2012 at 6:52 pm

Romney’s pick of Ryan really shows that ole Mitt isn’t thinking about what’s best for the US at all. Neither one of them have any foreign policy chops at all. Our Joe could have been Prez on day one if something had happened to PBO. Ugh, hated to even THINK that, but it truly highlights how desperate Mitt the Twit is. Good thing we’ll never have to think about it!

I’m still trying to figure out Team Romneyhood’s thinking was with choosing Ryan. Talk about a Hail Mary pass! Latinos? No. Women? No. Elderly? Huge No. Independents? Nope. African-Americans? Likewise. So besides a few idiot baggers, I can’t think of any group at all that this choice would appeal to. Anyone else have an idea? I bet there’s like less than .00001% that hadn’t made their mind up already by this time.

Ha, the cable shows ought to be great on Monday! Does Mittens think announcing this on a Saturday would make people forget by then? I can’t wait to hear the spin!

Another note about the music from Air Force One that Team Romney used to introduce Paul Ryan:

The composer, Jerry Goldsmith, died in 2004, so he won’t be sending the GOP a cease and desist order demanding that they stop using his music. Of course that doesn’t mean the publishing company that still holds the rights to the music won’t do it. 🙂

This article on Yahoo mentions that Goldsmith scored the movie in 12 days when director Wolfgang Petersen gave the job to him after dismissing Randy Newman. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/paul-ryan-introduced-mitt-romneys-vp-choice-air-185743970.html

What that article left out is that Goldsmith pretty much just lifted the main theme from the score that he’d already turned in six months prior for the Star Trek First Contact . http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/air_force_one.html
