SacBee: The nation’s first lady is hitting the campaign trail in eastern Pennsylvania. Michelle Obama will stump for the president’s re-election on Thursday in the Philadelphia and Lehigh Valley areas.
She’ll first hold a rally in west Philadelphia at the University of the Sciences’ athletic center. She will then travel to suburban Fort Washington, where she’ll greet supporters at Upper Dublin High School, and end her trip with remarks at Moravian College in Bethlehem.

NYT Editorial: Mitt Romney’s campaign has hit new depths of truth-twisting with its accusation that President Obama plans to “gut welfare reform” by ending federal work requirements. The claim is blatantly false, but it says a great deal about Mr. Romney’s increasingly desperate desire to define the president as something he is not.
…. this is what happens when a flailing campaign searches for a wedge issue to gain popularity among blue-collar voters. Mr. Romney’s empty promises to magically turn around the economy are losing effectiveness, so why not vilify welfare recipients and portray the president as coddling them?
That approach was favored by an earlier generation of Republican operatives, and it helped divide the country into warring political classes. Mr. Romney, no less cynical, seems bent on repeating the past.

E.J. Dionne Jr: …. Political commentary these days is obsessed with the triviality of this campaign. Most of it is rooted in the refusal of conservatives to be candid about the implications of how their beliefs and commitments would affect the choices they would have government make — and how they differ from the president’s.
In Romney’s case, this often requires him to invent an Obama who exists only in the imagination of his ad makers. So they take Obama’s statements, clip out relevant sentences and run ads attacking some strung-together words that have a limited connection to what the president said. In the welfare ad, Romney lies outright.
But this is part of a larger pattern on the right, illustrated most tellingly by conservative rhetoric around the Affordable Care Act. In going after Obamacare, conservatives almost never talk about the specific provisions of the law. They try to drown it in anti-government rhetoric….
….Here’s your chance, conservatives. Big, bad government is forcing those nice insurance companies to give people a break. From what you say, you see this as socialism …. You cannot possibly keep this money. So stand up for those oppressed insurers and give them their rebates back!
…. I’d also be curious to know whether Romney got a rebate on his health insurance premiums courtesy of Obamacare and whether he plans to return it. But given his attitude toward disclosure, we’ll probably never find out.

Needless to say I’m not going to post it, but I just happened to see a listing for a Young Turks/Cenk Uygur video on YouTube posted two days ago, with the title ‘What If Trayvon Had Died In A Drone Strike?’ Yep, that’s the level to which the fraud has descended in his increasingly desperate campaign against the President. Uygur? **** off, you right wing piece of crap.

Morning everyone 😉
Goood Morning, Everyone! I don’t doubt that you are still running on the energy generated by Pres O so far this week. Have a Happy Thursday!
Three golds! GM CM & Rikyrah, think we’ll get our awards? CC has been saving mine to put in an album in November. 😉
Good Morning Chips, TOD, lurkers and everyone. Congratulations vcprez, cookemom, Rikyrah on #1!
Helloooo, HF! Sending greetings your way & TY 😉
Moooooooooooorning VC, morning everyone 😉
Why thank, Ms C! So nice to actually see you. Thank you too for all the lovely posts you’ve been producing in the last while! BTW, how’s my photo award album coming along? 😉 😉
That album will have to be a biggie VC, I think I owe you several thousand pics by now 😕 Nice to see you too!
Did anybody see Morning Joe? (tee hee)
no…tell me about it 🙂
Good Morning, Everyone 🙂
Superb segment from Maddow about Voter Suppression in Ohio.

89 Days To Go!!!
Darn! I’m not calling names but I swear some people have a bell on their computer that goes off as soon as “rise & shine” is posted…. 🙂 🙂
I just refreshed the page, and there was no new thread. I jump on Twitter for half a second and see ‘rise & shine” Then I jump back on TOD thinking that I’m in first place, only to find out that at least three people have beat me to it!!!!!
I expected the Rise and Shine thread to be well on it’s way by the time I turned on my PC this morning. I’m usually late to the party. Much to my surprise I see ‘write a comment’. If it hadn’t been for wordpress making me log in before the comment would post, I may have gotten in even earlier.
cookemom I will give you a pass, but I know of at least one person who leans heavily on the door and as soon as Chips turns the door handle…BOOM..that person comes crashing in! 🙂 🙂
Not a Bell, I get a tip from the CIA.
that Hardball segment was very good
It sure was! Best I’ve seen in a while:)
I tape Hardball but usually end up deleting it cuz I get mad at what Chris Matthews says. Sometimes he is the best supporter ever while other times he might as well be a GOP.
There have been many rants about him on here in the past. I think I have figured him out finally. From watching some of his recent shows I have heard him say all of his family is Republican except himself. I have also heard him say he is a strong budget hawk. So as I suspected he leans heavily right of Dems, not quite completely GOP. Maybe more like a DINO except for a few issues. He totally LOVES the Kennedys and the Clintons. He’ll take Obama over Romney but lost his tingle up his leg. It all depends on what the issue is when tuning in to his show as to whether he seems a supporter or not. For awhile I just thought he was schitzophrenic since he seemed to swing from one side or the other without notice. I now think you just need to pay attention to what the issue is.
Chips I hear you about Uygur. He is truly a disgusting human being, and his rantings are no longer in the realm of partisan or ideological punditry – it’s a personal venom. It came to the point where he has not even been welcome on Old Orange – and that was BEFORE they became more positive towards PBO….
What He do now?
See what Chips wrote above, right below the cartoons…
Hopefruit, this fraud already made me feel ill, but using Trayvon like this? There are no words….
Maybe the Uhygur and his nasty Libertarian motives would prefer if Al Qaeda or His Friends the Neo Nazi, came after Him?
I wonder how he would feel, if He were taken Hostage, probably the only American I Would care less about. Keep Him, he ain’t worth the ransom!
That is all!
Does he actually have much of an audience?
Come on Jovie, speak your mind! 😆
Right on jovie.
Ugh-grr. 🙂 🙂 🙂
what ransom ?
No. WAY.
Serious?
I don’t think he’s been officially banned. However, his last diary at Orange was on May 30, 2012. The diary was titled “What Did Obama Mean by Change?”
Diary received 459 comments, 45 recs, 18 HR’s. You do the math. He has not posted since then.
Which begs the question..why the hell is Al Gore having him as part of the Current Commentary Team on Election night? Does Gore get complaints about that piece of cenk?
Did they find Robneys tax Returns on Mars yet?
Freaking awesome.
I just got a chance to sneak a peak at TOD, saw “Breaking News” and thought it was about Romney releasing his taxes. lolol
Who would have thought that further reducing the deficit would occur BEFORE Romney released his taxes.
Good Thursday morning Chips and TOD. HOPE we have another beautiful news day for the President today. Yesterday was golden.
Huffington Post headlines- Suoervilcano could mean Doomsday for millions.
How nice. Well, back to eating my cornflakes.
One correction. Young Turk isnt a RWNJ he’s actually a lefty who had a show on MSNBC but was too left 4 even them. I dont agree AT ALL with him using Trayvon Martin’s name because that was just wrong. But he was talking about drones because he’s Arab-American and has an issue with the use of drones 2 kill.
We’ll agree to differ! He was a hardcore right-winger and member of the GOP until he suddenly became a ‘progressive’ to pursue a media career. Anyone can change their political views, but this guy is a complete fake and has reversed almost every position he ever held (eg on abortion, affirmative action (which he opposed), feminism (which he had a major issue with in his GOP days), the war in Afghanistan (which he supported), etc. He’s not Arab, he’s Turkish-American – and an Armenian genocide denier. He has opposed PBO from day one and his sole aim is to turn ‘progressives’ against him, that’s what his entire media career is all about.
Very well said Chips – he is truly awful and everytime he speaks it’s like nails on a chalkboard. He’s dumb, loud, unoriginal and filled with a smug moral superiority. But most of all he’s dumb.
He’s sooooooooo smug Cluny, you’re spot on. If he was sincere he wouldn’t bother me, but I just know he’s a fake. I’ll never forget him dismissing the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act as a “minor” piece of legislation, simply because it was PBO who signed it. Equal pay for women is a “minor” thing? How progressive of him …. his mask sure slipped that day.
Cenyk also is an “EX-REPUBLICAN” like Arianna HuffnPuff, Ed Schulz, etc., and are not above knocking the President and other DEMs. As far as I am concerned he’s another DINO.
Ha! Chips you’ve nailed Uygur as only you could. +1,000,000,000
And, cenk, doesn’t mind LYING to turn progressives against PObama.. and pulling Shite like this poor Trayvon question. He’s an A##hole.
Gore should know this.
If he is Arab American then why ain’t he calling out Al Qaeda and the Muslim extremists?
He seems to side with Al Qaeda, who I have actually seen, and they are Jerks, to say the least. Al Qaeda hates all Americans and want us dead.
Are you serious? Sticking up for Al Qaeda?
Come on!!!
First, Cenk is not an Arab-American. He is a Turkish-American. Second, he is a former right wing Republican who voted for Reagan. Some of his tactics remind me of the Republican tactics, especially the tactics of neo-conservatives who were former radical Democrats. Third, from day one, he has been on a mission of personal vendetta against President Obama. Fourth his use of Trayvon Martin was despicable. Finally, just because he had a show on MSNBC does not necessary make him a genuine “lefty,” or what I would prefer to call a genuine Democrat.
OFA to blanket/bracket the Tampa airwaves for Convention-
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/79512.html
This is wise.
It looks like OFA did not buy airtime on Fox, or they were not allowed. LOL!
Goooood Morning O peeps!!!!! Another great getting up day to board the TOD train!!! I’m looking forward to the conventions and the spin that’ll come out of them. So far, the pubs have relegated the Newts and the $arahs to minor roles. Newt’s doing a workshop on school choice in a closet somewhere. $arah’s shooting caribou in the parking lot.
My political take today is if you speak to an undecided (I’ve never met one), ask them what they’re waiting for? I think those are the folks who like to play with the pollsters.
Me thinks, this Election is so publicized and important, that their is only 2 or 3% undecided left, if that.
The Pollsters have to say undecided, to justify the Ad buys!
When someone doesn’t want to tell a pollster who they are voting for, they can be candid and say they don’t want to respond, or quite often they will prefer to say “I’m undecided”. Let’s not forget that.
That is the best role I have seen allocated to Sarah in many moons – where she has belonged since forever – I cannot believe that intelligent people speak of Sarah as if she has a brain. She is a walking hate machine who knows about 15 words which are endlessly rearranged to fill in 15 minute time slots. The lady on my car GPS map system has a much larger vocab.
The labor super PAC Workers’ Voice is going after Mitt Romney’s record at the Olympics in a new advertising campaign, charging that he “steered millions to his Bain subsidiaries” while running the Salt Lake City Games.
“In Mitt’s Olympics, he went for all the gold,” says an online ad backed by the group.
That online ad has $50,000 behind it and targets white, noncollege-educated men in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Washington D.C., according to a Workers’ Voice official. The idea is to reach people who have seen Romney’s ads telling his side of the story on the Olympics, and present them with a different version of events.
That advertising is coupled with a mail piece (above) that’s going out to 250,000 voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, the same official said.. You can see the full, double-sided mailer here.
“Romney gets a lot of press for ‘saving’ the Games, but there’s been little exploration of how he used his power — and hundreds of millions of dollars in federal funds — to enrich Bain Capital subsidiaries,” the union-backed group tells its supporters in an email set for release today.

🙂
All the other presidential candidates were “businesses” and therefore HAD to release their tax returns…..this guy is digging a bigger and bigger hole for himself to jump in after Nov 6th.
What?!?!?!?!
Mitt…how did you get such a large amount in your IRA ? Do you have a SEP IRA ( Simplified Employee Pension ) which allows self employed people to contribute 25 % of their annual income.
WEAK! Robney to the Planned Parenthood ad is to release an ad on Religious Liberty.
Really?
Is he sure he wants to talk about religion? Then again, I do believe he’s trying to move to the center now. That little not so subtle slip yesterday by his press secretary about Romneycare was no accident.
It was stupid! It allows the President to go carte Blanche on his ACA and minimizes the Tea party.
This won’t help him with independants. Over the top, and reminding everyone that the GOP is now controlled by the religious far-right.
The Romney campaign looks in disarray. They’re shooting in all directions. On Hardball yesterday, they were saying Romney runs a purely tactical campaign based on the news cycle and it leads to all sorts of problems. Indeed.
When you have no set of beliefs to fall back on and you are just trying to please everyone you please no one. Atleast I hope that is what will happen to Romney Hood.
And, they’re shooting Blanks.

I have a dumb question: are there not companies that Romney decimated before this alleged 1999-2001 period that we can highlight? Why is it always about companies where the Repubs get to say that Romney has no responsibility?
Of course it would be nice if one of these news lemmings would simply ask him what he would have done differently, if he disapproved of the way his company conducted business in that period and was it any different than the way he conducted business before that period?
Just asking.
I think I remember David Corn coming out with a Bain deal that came off before the famous I wasn’t incharge then date. It was around the time of the Olympics start when Romney was cooking his own goose so I think it got lost.
” First-time claims for unemployment benefits fell slightly last week, bringing encouraging news for the job market.
About 361,000 people filed claims in the week ended Aug. 4, down 6,000 from the previous week, the Department of Labor said Thursday.
That was also better than economists’ forecasts for 375,000 claims.”

Good news Japa, here’s some more:
The U.S. trade deficit fell to its lowest level in 18 months in June, pushed down by a steep drop in oil imports and a rise in exports.
The trade gap narrowed to $42.9 billion in June, down from $48 billion in May, the Commerce Department said Thursday.

Wonder if this will shut up the “drill baby drill” crowd? Oh…wait….
🙂 Morning Desertflower!
The US oil stockpiles, however, have gone down. Oil is now at 94.
Another happy start to my day. The economy improving along with our President’s re-election seeming more and more certain every day.
Claire McCaskill looking good. Maybe we can add to our seats in Senate and 25 seats in The House also seems possible .All around goodness.
I was noticing that CM on Hardball was saying the Primary election of the Teapartiers in several states would doom both the Senate and the House. While Rachel was saying that the election of these Teapartiers was a gift to the Dems.

http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2012/08/romney-flack-promoted-climate-denial-behalf-exxon
Andrea Saul is the press secretary and chief spokesperson for Gov. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. But before Romney hired her, Saul worked for a DC-based public affairs and lobbying firm that worked to undermine climate science on behalf of corporations like ExxonMobil, according to a detailed new report from Greenpeace’s Polluter Watch project.
While working for DCI Group, Saul worked on anti-climate-science campaigns on behalf of Exxon. That included creating the faux news site Tech Central Station, which was used to promote columns from climate deniers like Willie Soon and Pat Michaels. Saul is listed as the contact person on the archived version of the Tech Central page.
She was also listed as the point person on a press release claiming that there is “no link between increased storm activity and a massive change in global climate” that was released in 2006, several months after Hurricane Katrina. DCI Group also created a video news release downplaying the climate-storm connection, though it’s not clear which DCI client paid for that work.
In late 2006, Saul also handled press for group of 17 climate skeptics who were trying to get the American Meteorological Society to weaken its statement on climate change by adding terms like “data uncertainty issues,” “natural variability,” and “imperfect climate models.”
Remember this….Robme arguing that he does not have “lobbyist” running his campagin? Isn’t that the same guy that cursed at the “scared” site in Poland?
How does she live with herself? All this for money? Wow.
DC is full of people who did PR work for the Shah, Papa Doc Duvalier, and other bloody dictators. Never hurt their reputations with the MSM. Do something because you believe in it and you’re some sort of crazy ideologue. Do it for money, you’re Mitt Romney and his acolytes. Money trumps everything, you know. 😦
Good morning from the West Coast.
Mooooooooooooorning Meta!
It’s Chipstarrrrrrr, live and in person!! What trouble can we get into today?!
Trouble? 😯 Ha, I’m sure you’ll think of something!
Yes, I will, and it won’t involve any kitchen clean up. Maybe a naughty mat or two, but nothing TOD can’t handle. Hee.
What an amazing scenery to wake up to!
Quite dramatic, no?!
How are you, hopefruit?

Gingrich admits: ‘no proof’ to support welfare smear
By Steve Benen
——————————————
When the host pressed further, asking if Gingrich would concede the “wording of the ad is not actually accurate,” the Romney surrogate ultimately conceded, “We have no proof today, but I would say to you under Obama’s ideology it is absolutely true that he would be comfortable sending a lot of people checks for doing nothing.”
So to summarize, Romney lied to the public and said Obama’s policy eliminates the welfare law’s work requirement. Romney’s high-profile surrogate appeared on national television, rejected the wording of Romney’s lie, acknowledged there’s “no proof” to support the lie, but said it might turn out to be true eventually. Maybe. He thinks.
Who’s bright idea was it to make Gingrich a campaign surrogate?
—————————————

And I believe it to be absolutely true that Romney would be comfortable deflowering sheep every full moon.
So when do I get to go on TV?
Good Morning all. Just popped in to say, “Have a great Obama Day”! Worked 10 hr shift on my day off yesterday so they let me off today. Chores, turning in new voter registration forms, and watching the Olympics are all I have planed today.
On a great note: Please stream some of the Olympics if you can. Great Decathlon going on right now. Hardee, and Easton are 1st and 2nd. Pole Vault is the event right now. Our guys both cleared the highest on their 1st and 2nd tries. Everyone else is trying to catch up.
53 yr old white woman and I LOVE TRACK AND FIELD! Go Go USA!
Good morning!
My granddaughter ran the 200 and 400 for her high school, her first time doing anything other than dance. Now she is glued to track and field events. Said of the 400, ‘I can do that’. I think that’s how Gabby started. Hmmmm, better go get new cleats.
Is this Heaven?
Looks like my idea of heaven:)
THANK YOU DARRYL ISSA AND RUSH LIMBAUGH
=========================================
I am watching the speech to women in Denver, Colorado with Sandra Fluke and President Obama for the third time. And I would like to thank Darryl Issan and Rush Limbaugh for making it possible for Sandra Flute to be a tremendous and invaluable asset for the Democrats. As President Obama said, Sandra is a tough, poised and eloquent advocate. I was bursting with pride as she introduced President Obama. She is fierce. It is not surprising that copycat Mitt Romney announced hours before the speech that his campaign was launching the “Women For Mitt Coalition” to be spearheaded by Ann Romney. How original and creative of him. NOT!
I wonder how much she gets paid as an official member of the campaign. We know he’s covered every angle in getting more money into the personal RMoney coffers.
I went to watch it after reading your comment – now there is a young woman that gives much hope for the future – eloquent, honest and enthusiastic – as is the crowd for the President. hard to believe that Mitt can’t find someone other than his wife to lead the women’s campaign – very telling about the (lack of) female support.
All those Republican female Senators and Representatives that stand in the background at all the press releases voted with the rest of the GOP against women’s issues.
They remind me of battered wives that back up their husbands with “I deserved it!” or women in Cults that don’t mind being used for men’s pleasure and being their slaves.
I expect the 12 million mark to be hit late tonight. Fully expect to wake up and see the magic number. Chips, are your cheese curls ready?
Ah Japa, I honestly hadn’t noticed! Okay, cheesy puffs at the ready! 🙂
Aw..what a nice, feel-good story
Elizabeth Twp. man gets call from Obama
// Fred Stipkovitz of Elizabeth Township admits he didn’t think much about it when he responded to a pop-up advertisement while surfing the Internet a few months back. Generally, his feeling about web ads is they only serve to separate the viewer from his or her cash. But this one got to him. It was a fund-raising ad for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign. Stipkovitz, 59, decided to donate a couple bucks — $25 or $35, he can’t remember now — to the effort.
“I feel like he’s the best president I’ve ever experienced in my lifetime,” Stipkovitz recalled, noting he especially appreciated the president’s support for the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare, and the immigration DREAM Act. It was the first time the semi-retired industrial technician and former Coast Guard member who’s originally from McKeesport ever gave to a campaign and it turned out to be a fateful event.
Last week, the president phoned Stipkovitz at his home to thank him for his support. He was one of only two donors to the campaign the president called.. …Stipkovitz said that before they closed the phone call, he told the president, “You have my 100 percent support.” //

That is so cool. Definitely brought a smile to my face. I love how the Obama team does donations. They never make it feel as though they’re forcibly taking your money. They always make it fun or heartwarming and you feel good knowing your money is going to someone who practices what he preaches.
I love this. I wonder if the other call was to College Kay?
SOME PEEPS ARE SO LUCKY!
with racist mofos, when did facts matter ?
Glad to see at least some msm pundtwits are calling out the mittbot’s blatant lying. Too little, too late, I know. At least, the narrative ship is slowly turning course.
I think some of them are beginning to realize that their shilling for Romney and enabling his lies are actually hurting, rather than helping him and THEM as well. They’re not calling him out on principle. They’re calling him out because it’s beginning to affect their bottom line. People are tuning out and getting their info from other sources, and Romney’s ratings and unfavorables continue to decline.

ROMNEY CAMPAIGN DEFINED: “MAKE UP WITH TACTICS WHAT YOU LACK IN VISION”
The Romney campaign’s big health care blunder
Philip Klein – Senior Editorial Writer
——————————————
It’s hard to say what type of political ramifications this specific development will have, but I do think it’s an example of a broader problem. Romney consistently attempts to make up with tactics what he lacks in vision. Romney’s campaign isn’t driven by any core ideology or governing philosophy, but by responding to news cycles. It is a campaign that was perhaps best summed up by senior advisor Eric Fehrnstrom, when he proudly tweeted yesterday, “On Fox just now Romney was asked to respond to ‘RomneyHood’ charge and called it ‘Obamaloney.’” Conservatives, rest assured – Romney will not allow himself to be called a childish nickname without responding by calling Obama a childish nickname.
So, if Romney thinks touting his past support for government-run health care today can help defend against baseless attacks on his business career, then he’ll tout away, even if it’ll weaken the case against government-run health care he’ll make tomorrow.

H/T Hardball – Chris Matthews
Just wondering if anybody else here noticed the new MSM pattern last couple of days. The night before last I was watching the Tweety segment with Joe Klein and Howard Fineman. Fineman announced that the next Romney line of attack on the O campaign was going to be a ‘have you no decency’ line – i.e. Obama and his people are terrible, politics as usual monsters. When I heard it I thought ‘what idiots’ – ‘that wont work’ but sure enough, next morning, Morning Joe began with the inquisition on Robert Gibbs on the Priorities Usa ad and this same line of attack in reference to this ad continued for the entire day via CNN etc. The level of poutrage was unbelievable – you’d have thought Romney was some kind of maligned, innocent victim. It seems to me that the NO1 outrage at the moment is the voting suppression story and that has not received one bit of the coverage it deserves. if the media bothered to do its job people would be out in the streets. But I am curious to see how long they continue to bang this particular drum for Romney.
On an unrelated point I loved watching Tweety’s segment with Bob Shrun – his unrestrained glee was something beautiful to behold.
Hopefruit,
Knoller is starting up again.
And I let him have it.
Great story!
HAHAHAHA! If this is any harbinger of things to come…

I just pity the poor guy helping him in the fourth photo – too bad he didn’t give it a shove. I also notice that his audience is kind of all the same, all the time.
That is toooooo weird. I can see standing on a pedestal or “chairs” in a very crowded room so people can see you….BUT IN THE RESTAURANT? Everyone was seated, they could see him, probably hear him without a mic……this guy is just too weird.
He likes looking DOWN on common people . That way he won’t have to look them in the eye.
That’s my impression as well
He’s daring you people to knock him off his self inflated pedestal.

My Obama Picture Books.
I don’t watch CNN anymore, just like Fox, it’s a hard right channel featuring the Savior Robney!
Finally jovie141, you’ve seen the light about TeaNN.
Aw, Chips…you HAVE to post this!!! Off to work, but I leave you with this funny!!!
http://boingboing.net/2012/08/08/tom-the-dancing-bug-the-tax.html
What a glorious front page in Colorado!
Why is Robney against the Wind tax credit, which is Huge in Colorado and Iowa?-
http://www.capewind.org/news1271.htm
Because of Kock opposition to it, and the barrage of Koch donations to Robney.
Also due to his connections with Oil and they don’t want wind to supply energy.

The Presidents Chicago birthday party-

1 in 10 articles on Lynn Sweets blog are now about the President.
Most of Her articles are covering Robney and Boner fundraisers.
I thought She covered local Politicians??
She’s a petty idiot.
Always has been. She, like many in her field, thinks that she should always be up front and center.
She’s still pouting because PBO gave his first important interview to the Chicago Trib and not her. She’s barely a step above a gossip reporter for the Sun-TImes rag (ah, the good old days when the Sun-Times was a great newspaper). She’s been pouting and petulant about PBO ever since.
OMG, STEVE BENEN MAKES A GREAT POINT USING WOODY ALLEN (HILARIOUS)
The emergence of McLuhan Moments
By Steve Benen
——————————————————————-
Yes, Team Romney cited the work of several respected scholars, all of whom disagreed completely with how Romney’s campaign had characterized their work. In one case, the truth was the polar opposite — Team Romney, hoping to prove Obama’s Recovery Act didn’t work, cited the scholarship of University of Chicago economist Amir Sufi, who said the stimulus actually worked rather well.
Perhaps Romney should stick to citing dead people who can’t speak up, or secret sources who’ll tell him what he wants to hear. At this point, these McLuhan Moments are making him look pretty silly.

GO GO USA USA!!!
Olympics put me in such a great mood!!
Hello Chips and TOD family. Chips, the photos from yesterday were just outstanding. Whoa our POTUS is just one fine man. Meanwhile, Mittens’ campaign is blowing up. I know we have to keep working hard to win this, but I have never laughed so hard in all my days. Mittens’ whole team is just a hot mess of incompetence.
And how funny to watch Joe and Mika and the rest of the Repubs in a panic over his losing campaign. Whole show this morning was 3-hrs of bashing the Priorities ad. Team Obama is on offense and just freakin brilliant. Love our President.
Does anyone remember how far ahead of the convention four years ago President Obama announced Joe Biden as his VP pick? I remember that the press were camping at the houses of various possibilities, and especially remember their ambushing Joe on his way to the dump to deposit lots of trash! He said definitely not, and about three days he was announced. He kept a good secret. I also remember the official announcement day was done beautifully, very upbeat and positive, with lots of good pictures and exciting speeches, and both Michelle and Jill introduced and greeting hundreds of people.
So, now can someone fill me in on the date and the place? I just remember the upbeat atmosphere and excitement.
Totally different from the Palin announcement. And, I doubt that the Romney announcement will have any excitement at all.
Biden was picked on August 22 nd ., I think….the convention started on the 25th
I think I remember Sarah Palin being picked the Friday before the GOP Convention as I spent that whole weekend researching her. I used to live in Juneau and had plenty of friends to contact about her and read up on newspaper articles and internet posts from politicians there. By the time the weekend was over I had more research than the campaign had plus stories the press never found.
SUDDENLY, ‘VALUES’ ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN JOBS & ECONOMY.
When ‘values,’ not the economy, takes center stage
By Steve Benen
—————————————
But the first thing I noticed after watching this ridiculous attack ad is what it didn’t mention: jobs and the economy. What we’re seeing this week appears to be a rather deliberate shift — for a year, Romney proudly boasted he was focused exclusively on economic issues, and wouldn’t allow himself to be thrown off-message by various “distractions.” Other candidates and politicians could chase the political story of the day, but all Mitt Romney cared about, he said, was getting people back to work and strengthening the recovery.
But he’s not saying that anymore. Now Romney wants to know which candidate shares your values. As job growth improves the recovery slowly gets stronger, the Republican suddenly believes trips to Israel, welfare, and contraception access are what really deserve attention.

Romney’s values are in his tax returns, and he’s not disclosing them.

No release of RomneyHood taxes, my conclusion, something illegal was done that’s why he refuse to release his taxes.
And that is why he released that welfare racist ad. Distraction!
jovie141, it won’t work though. People will not forget about RomneyHood taxes. The Obama campaign won’t let them.
Photos, vid and updates from Pueblo——juvenile Willard stalker bus there with honkers again—-so clever!!!? Laughed at one comment from reporter—–saying passing Democratic motorists think Romney sign wavers are #1. Get it? (hint: wrong finger)
