Wow! So Ryan Lochte poses with his “USA Flag” grill after winning his Gold (he even wanted to wear it on the damn podium) and the announcers and sports people just thought that was soo cute.

But Serena Williams does a little 20sec dance (yeah it was the “crip walk” but who the hell really knew that) and all of a sudden ….scandal!!!

Hmm wonder what makes Serena’s lil celebration different?

Chips…somehow you should highlight this…really, really wonderful post of reasons why they will be voting for this President in 2012

    ************************************************************** Add to blogroll?????

    Just one example:

    1. I’ll vote for Obama because I like the idea that Wall Street has soured on the president. It tells me they didn’t get from him what they wanted and more importantly, because they’re withholding their support, he won’t be obligated to them. Besides, I have a problem with a group of grown men who have the nerve to feel sensitive after nearly toppling the entire economy.

Like the corporations that park their profits (profits they earned in America, from Americans) offshore because they want to be unregulated and untaxed, they’re holding the nation hostage. I’ll vote for Obama because I don’t want to pay the ransom.

    From: CNN Money

Companies seek tax break for overseas profits

The tax holiday would lower the corporate tax rate to 5.25% for big companies such as the bill’s proponents — including Google, Oracle and Cisco — if they move their overseas profits to the United States.
Note: Generally, the U.S. corporate tax rate stands at 35%. I challenge anyone to name a corporation that pays 35% after all the tax cuts, tax credits, loopholes, deductions and subsidies. Costs are rising to do offshore business. Corporations are people…let them behave like all other American people and pay their taxes!
If you believe Obama’s policies are crippling, how do you account for the fact that the stock market is at an all-time high and corporations are enjoying greater profits than in decades?

    • August 5, 2012 at 2:01 am

Our election cycle doesn’t really start until the election is called and lasts only six weeks. Politicians have a very short period of time to make their case to the Canadian people. It feels like Pres Obama has been in campaign mode since he was elected.

  10. August 4, 2012 at 9:37 pm

BTW, among the few in the ‘media’ who have a clue what is happening in Syria, and happen to have their butt on the line informing us, is Ms Jenan Moussa ….

… whom at the moment may be a bit to close to the reality of war … for those of you who pray, please keep her in your thoughts.

Yesterday at the library I noticed a book Twisted Truths of Modern Dressage by Philippe Karl. His states that modern training methods are ruining horses and many of the training methods are barbaric. I noticed a article not long ago about Ann Romney selling a dressage horse for $125,000. After it was purchased the new owners found it couldn’t perform. A vet said the horse was completely shot up with pain killers. They brought a lawsuit and it was settled out of court. The trainer for that horse is the same one that is riding the Romney horse in the Olympics. When asked about how the Olympic showing of her horse, Ann said, “He didn’t disappoint”. Who talks like that in the USA? Selling a ruined horse, doping it, and passing it off as sound indicates a total lack of ethics.

http://drspud44.com/president-obama-defeat-results.html Just a taste….and why we won’t let this happen.

The opinions have been voiced thousands of times in blogs, television soundbites, and newspaper editorials concerning the performance of President Barack Obama. Today, I present a scenario of the implications of his defeat in the form of a list. Some are opinions; others are based on facts.

The Racists will declare victory—It will go like this. In the future, some other young leader with Black, Native or Latino blood will emerge on the political scene. He or she will immediately be met with the statement: “Sounds like another Obama.” (This was done after Jimmy Carter). President Obama’s defeat will be a severe blow to any future minority candidates which is why racists are so opposed to him. Many, many people do not like the fact that people of color will be the majority in a few decades.

The Tea Party Movement will be vindicated as valid—You can imagine it, can’t you? The Tea Party fraud will become a “movement” when all it has ever been is a collection of confused people, mostly racists, who are being provoked by fear. President’s Obama defeat will be advertised as a Tea Party movement victory. The media, especially television, will repeat this over and over until it becomes fact.

The Rich will continue their take-over of the entire world with no opposition-It is my opinion that the Rich are sitting on billions and billions of dollars so the economy will remain bad and ensure President Obama’s defeat. Then, they can complete the take-over of most of the rest of the world’s wealth without any opposition.

The Next Supreme Court Justices will be named by a Republican-The modern Supreme Court is already a travesty and would only get worse if one or two other Republican nominees were in power for life.

The War on Women will accelerate-Planned Parenthood is on the run. Woman’s rights in the workplace and the basic control of their bodies are already at risk as Republicans have assumed control of the state governments. Can you imagine if these same beliefs were put into action on the Federal level?

    More on the link…..

We should be so LUCKY to have another one like PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA! F**** the stupid brainwashed haters..they tried to make “Liberal” a dirty word but turns out they made “conservative” to mean vile race teabaggin’ Liar.

    • August 5, 2012 at 1:32 am

I agreed with some of his/her dire projections, but passionately disagreed with much of it. Interesting read. President Obama isn’t the “lesser of two evils” – absolutely not! He is not deserving of most of the criticisms that are thrown his way by unreasonable people, or those who have never worked to make things happen in real life – especially those who are paid to spew their uninformed opinions. I could go on.

But, if this little article causes some of the emoprogs to stop their whining and start working for President Obama’s re-election, and think about the consequences if he doesn’t win – then I’m all for it.

given the incredibly complex conditions he’s had to operate within, i really don’t see how president obama, or any human, could perform any better than he has. not only is he not the “lesser or two evils,” he’s the most perfect president for this time. president obama has done so much for the entire world…not just america. having this man become president at this point in world history is almost turning me into a religious person!

Michael Phelps got an official congratulations from the president after his record-breaking gold medal win Tuesday night. “You’ve made your country proud,” President Obama tweeted at the swimmer. “Thank you Mr. President!! It’s an honor representing the #USA!! The best country in the world!!” Phelps replied.

I watched Phelps swim in the medley relay tonight. His last Olympic swim. A great high note to finish on! Amazing achievement. I can’t wait till these medal winners go to the White House. I’m really enjoying these games more than usual.

It’s also great to know that the President is really enjoying this. I like the thought of him eating popcorn and watching like the rest of us.
I got such a kick out of seeing Michelle get into the games while she was there. They are just so natural and normal.

Agreed. I was looking so forward to these Olympics, and I have to say…aside from the opening ceremony…I’ve barely watched any of them…maybe it’s because the results aren’t a surprise. I am surprised at myself that I missed the swimming events….I LOVE them…as my daughter was a competitive swimmer and had an Olympian as a coach:)

I’ve been watching the events on TV and also following twitter and the Obama Diary on my laptop in the commercial breaks. The gymnastics have been great with Gabby Douglas winning the all-around. What a wonderful thing for your daughter to have an Olympic competitor as a coach.
Both male and female swim teams have been outstanding. It’s not too late to start watching df. You’ll need to know what’s what when they show up at the Whitehouse! Track and field is looking really good and Serena Williams was amazing today in the tennis. And the basketball, well that’s a lot of cuteness.
I also have to give a shout out to the Brits who got six golds today. Jessica Ennis was amazing!!

The paraplegic runner from SA qualified to go on to the next stage so history was made there.

Funny! But I’m more into it this time than I have been before.

          • August 5, 2012 at 3:19 am

Me, too. I’ve been hooked for four hours each night watching the recaps from 8 to midnight! These athletes are amazing. Simply amazing!

Thanks for all the comments. I don’t know how I would stay up all night if it wasn’t for the TOD late birds chatting about everything and anything. So many great links to fun stuff. I can so appreciate all the great achievements of Michael Phelps, Serena Williams, and Gabby Douglas and the US teams in swimming and gymnastics but I gotta root for the athletes who are competing under the Maple Leaf. I loved what the President said about these Olympic sports bringing the people of a country together and that is so true. He is such an inspirational man. Many leaders could take lessons from him.

    • August 5, 2012 at 3:24 am

I’m with you, Alma. I’ve been most proud of the Canadian team – even though I’ve cheered on the American team and some of the other athletes with really interesting stories. They really are truly inspirational and unifying. I loved hearing the British crowd singing their national anthem with Jessica Ennis’ win. Very touching.

The U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) is harshly criticizing Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) potential alternative to the DREAM Act — an idea that has yet to be proposed in a bill, but has provided the Republican Party with a perceived method for appeasing Latino voters — because Rubio won’t support a full path to citizenship. Without providing a path to citizenship and access to higher education for qualified undocumented youth, the USCCB believes that young immigrants will be “at risk of living as second class citizens in our society.”

Another Florida Republican, Rep. David Rivera, has also introduced an alternative to the DREAM Act — however, Rep. Rivera’s bill also fails to live up to the Catholic Bishop’s standards, since it severely complicates and limits the path to citizenship for young immigrants. As the Bishops point out, “Senator Rubio’s and Representative Rivera’s proposals would not serve the best interest of our nation. The vast majority of DREAM-eligible youth are, for practical purposes, Americans.”
