Goood Morning, Everyone! Fired up? ……..Fired up? ,,,…..,,Fired up?……… Let’s go change our world, Thursday edition!
♫Special Good ♪Morning♪ to yooou♫ , Ms Chips!
Thanks Chips!!! Hope that things get a little easier for you.
GM OMF, I see you and Ranman were waiting with me! 😆
I am here most days, VC, but notice for the past few weeks it takes several tries and a very long download time to get the new post into my mailbox. Even tho I know in my heart it is there! A little frustrating, and very hard to capture first anymore! C’est la vie, eh? Big hug to you!
Hi Pamela! Good to see you! I too am having problems getting in this week with the system telling me I need to sign in and add my password, when I know I’m already signed in. I admit I added a choice word 😳 while fumbling to enter my password today which told me it was a good time to step away for a break. I did, so now I’m all restored to calm again. 😉
It just asked me to sign in AGAIN before accepting the comment above, even though I hadn’t signed out since this morning!!! All I had done was put the laptop on ‘hibernate’, a state from which I had to enter my password BEFORE even starting my response to you!! I swear 😳 this is why I can’t stand technology; it never does what *I* want it to when I want it to!
toe nails were in the door crack
Good morning again you lot. I can’t remember when I’ve been up this early. The polls are looking better and that’s a good thing. In my mind the biggest hurdle is this voter suppression b.s. Let’s get on it!
Morning early bird!!
Y’all! 🙂 {{{{{{chips}}}}}}
Helloooooooooooooooooo Pamela!
Good morning chips, TOD early risers, and all! I am still basking in the glow of my ‘first’ yesterday. Congrats OMF. Have a great day, all! Off to the salt mines go I.
Thanks Good day to you too Sandee
G’morning to Chips, TOD, lurkers, etc..and congratulations to ourmanflint on #1!
Hellooooooooooooooooo Hopefruit, a very happy Thursday to you 😉
And the same to you, Lady Chips!
“Lady Chips.” I like that 😎
Top of the morning, Lady Chips!
That’s some great press there in Akron. Bite it, Boehner.
You want a courtesy and a bow next? 😉
Question for Willard: If “job creators” put their money in foreign bank accounts to dodge taxes how does that create jobs in the US?
Question for good researchers: I just read a comment on Margaret and Helen’s blog that said the writer received a letter from Medicare that they would no longer pay for her well-woman exam or mammogram. I have certainly received no such letter. Do any of you know about this? Would this be because of her secondary? Any ideas? Frankly, I don’t believe it, but I’d like to know. Ifi not the answer, where to look.
good morning all. Hope everyone has a great day.
@Carolyn this is because these types of exams are now covered under ObamaCares as covered preventive services with no cost. Bookmark the following for all your questions. This info has been floating around everywhere, including this blog. Seems like that comment was intended to give false impressions. I question the commentator’s sincerity and for that matter their knowledge
http://www.healthcare.gov/news/factsheets/2010/07/preventive-services-list.html#CoveredPreventiveServicesforAdults
Thank you very much. I will bookmark that. I know that where I live I will hear this same misinformation, so want to be prepared.
Reid doubles down on Romney tax charge
On Wednesday, Reid stuck to his story, and broadened it. “I am not basing this on some figment of my imagination,” Reid said in a telephone call with Nevada reporters. “I have had a number of people tell me that.” Asked to elaborate on his sources, Reid declined. “No, that’s the best you’re going to get from me.” “I don’t think the burden should be on me,” Reid said. “The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn’t he release his tax returns?”
A Romney spokesman said Reid’s charge was baseless and below the belt.
“This is further proof that the president’s campaign is willing to say whatever it takes to distract from his economic record, no matter how baseless, unfounded or demonstrably false their attacks are,” spokesman Mason Harrison said. “President (Barack) Obama condemned these kinds of negative attacks in 2008, but like many of the promises he made back then, they have turned out to be just more words.”
Reid challenged the media to be more aggressive in digging into Romney’s finances.
http://www.lvrj.com/news/reid-doubles-down-on-romney-tax-charge-164680576.html
Good morning Ms. and TOD.
Unless I am mistaken “journalists” always report stories using “anonymous” sources. In fact, it the story is controversial they refuse to identify their sources. Some have gone to jail rather than reveal their sources. I say go for it Reid. I don’t think he would be willing to put this out there unless he had sources. As the Senator Majority Leader, he could have easily had someone else leak the information. Let the Rethugs squeal like stuck pigs.
What I find interesting is Team Romney’s silence on this accusation.
Poor little willard sittin’ in corner whining his big ol fishy head off.
“Who is there among us who does not prefer tolerance, respect and forgiveness of our failings to bigotry, disrespect, and resentment?”
~ HHDL 1 August 2012. @DalaiLama
My eight year old son was having breakfast this morning and he looks up and says, “Mom, I saw that man who likes to fire people on TV today and he was telling lies on Barack Obama”. I said what do you mean the man who likes to fire people? He said, “you know, the man who wants to let Detroit go bankrupt and who doesn’t pay his fair share in taxes”.
I said, “how do you know he doesn’t pay his fair share”? He said “because when someone asks him about taxes he keeps saying he will only pay what the law says he should pay. So that means, he only does what he has to do instead of what is the right thing to do”.
lololol We had the “chat” after that and I let him know, that PO is a big boy and he will take care of it (lies). It is funny to know even the children are listening, they get it and can discern truth vs. not. It was pretty funny.
LOL “From the mouths of babes” When even children are listening, even the “low info voters” have to hear the same things!!
Let’s hear it for the next generation.
You have a smart son, nospin:) If an 8YO can understand, I would think that an adult should. Kids just know.
You are right about that. Everyone at this point gets it desertflower regardless of party affiliation. Whether they choose to accept it is another issue entirely but they all understand.
My son’s conversation made me realize just how important it is that we encourage our kids to become critical thinkers. I was interesting in the way he started the conversation as if he was really thinking about this and so I was curious to understand his thought process and I had to laugh. Even though the strategy he used to figure out how he felt about Romney was pretty simplistic, he was pretty much dead on. 🙂
I always tell my kids that if something does not pass the smell test, if they think something would be more effective if done another way or if something simply does not make sense today. . . then by all means question it regardless of who is sharing that information. I just ask that they do it respectfully and with an open mind but the final decision always rests with them/the individual.
For me President Obama represents the importance of critical thinking. I expose the kids a lot to what he, FLOTUS and his administration are doing for young people. The kids may not understand everything right now but they are becoming knowledgeable enough to question and this lays the foundation to encourage them to stay abreast of issues that will impact them as they get older.
OMG, wow, your son is so very astute. Lovely!! If only the Tea Party nuts would be so enlightened.
I had the same experience with a 10 year old. He said he did not like Romney because he fired those people.
Isn’t that funny JER? That really part got to him. You should have heard the disgust in his voice when he said that. His elementary school exposes the kids to career day every year. So he fully understands the value of hard work and the importance of having some means to be financially secure and to earn money. He knows people need jobs to take care of families and no job means the inability to support the family. That bothered him.
Nospin, your son will become a fine leader in this country, and he will make a huge difference! Wonderful story! What a gem!
thanks Pamela. He is a good kid and has a good character.
Smart kid (whom we might need to borrow to join the dots for a few Repubs), and also a smart mother. Kudos to you on the parenting you are doing! {{Nospin}} VC
Love it! Kiss your son for me, LOL! And thanks for sharing this.
Nospin, give your precious son a Big hug from me. I love to see the young ones so fair and alert in their thinking. You have to be so proud of your beautiful son. HZ
GM Chips. Thanks for the new thread and the pics. Loved the energy for the President in Akron yesterday.
Morning Jackie, yesterday was terrific, left me severely fired up! Hoping for another good day today. Hope all’s good with you?
Pretty much. Yesterday was bitter sweet for me as it was the 5th anniversary of my mother’s death. She lived with me for 8 years and had Alzheimers. She is the one who steered me to follow President Obama back in 2004. She would be very pleased he was elected President. Thanks for asking.
More importantly, how are you? We would not be where we are in this campaign without the hard work and sacrifice you make for us here everyday. Hope all is well with you.
Oh Jackie, that was a painful anniversary, days like that can bring back a whole heap of pain. Your mother sounded like a wise woman, we’ll all do our best to make her proud in November.
All’s good with me, work a bit crazy, but I need to stop whining about that!
Hugs to you Jackie! We will do your mother’s memory proud in November.
She lives forever in your memories and your heart. {{{{jackie4O}}}}
Lots of love to you, Jackie. President Obama has been a unifying force for so many of us. Be good to yourself.
Hugs, Jackie:) I know that hallow feeling of missing your Mom like you do. I also know how proud she would be…of you AND President Obama. You honor her memory.
The painful anniversaries in some way bring those loved ones back to us. Tearful, of course. But they are alive in our hearts and we reaffirm this on these sad days.
I’m so sorry for your loss. But you were blessed to have her guide you through life.
{{{{{{{{J4O}}}}}}}}
Peace and Blessings to you today Jackie.
((((Jackie)))) ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
(((((( Jackie)))))))) and lots of love to you. The same happened to me eight years ago with my mother. Keep your memories sweet and cherish your space where you store them. You will need to visit them often. Hold her close to your heart and think of the times that she made you smile even during that time. That is what keeps me going when I break thinking about my times with my mother. (((((( I send you hugs of tenderness)))HZ
Also loved the pics. Saw a lot of volunteers at the event, I hope OFAs will share some of the interesting stories they have. Things like how volunteers feel that their new skills has impacted their lives now and into the future. What have they learned about people and their lives
I’m sure the Floridians from Orlando must be extra fired up today, especially since their original rally had to be postponed due to the CO shooting. They deserve a fantastic rally for their patience and forbearance with our President and the rest of America.
Agree. I’m sure they will be very excited. They were certainly patient.
Well back to work for me. What a nice respite from work to stop in here for a quick minute. 😆
I accidentally saw one of Mitt’s “You Didn’t Build That” commercials this morning – bleech, what a start to the day. The “entrepreneur” says that he is “demonized” for being successful. WTF? How do they equate saying that “you had help in getting where you are” to “you are evil”?
The good news is that these ads just AREN’T all that effective. This ad has been running for more than a week with little change in the polls which seem to be moving in PBO’s direction. And Chuck Todd had to admit that the Romney campaign (including superPACs) actually OUTSPENT the Obama campaign in the months of June/July. What has all that spending done for them? Not a damn thing. They will still LOSE.
I hope you’re right. This is the kind of lie that Republicans get traction on.
Well they haven’t been getting traction on it – and that is despite the increased exposure and numerous “analyses” from MSM pundits hailing this ad as effective (before the outcome was apparent).
The Obama campaign has effectively neutralized the reach of these negative ads because fundamentally, people trust the President, and don’t trust Romney. This is a whole different game..not the GOP primary where Willard could just carpet-bomb Mankini, Santorum or Perry with negative ads 24/7 and get desired results.
Yup!
I doubt it. It’s like all their claims — way over the top. If they weren’t so *^&% stupid they’d realize that. The average voter sees BOTH side’s commercials. Saying “Obama hasn’t supported business enough” might be plausible. Saying that PBO hates success is just too much. The Rethugs are making commercials that the RWNJs like. They’re not doing much to appeal to the people who aren’t already crazy.
Demonized for being successful….mmmm where did I hear that before? lol…oh yes, Romney’s excuse on everything. Yep because for Republicans as long as you have money, you’re a success, doesn’t matter how you made your fortune, if you outsourced jobs and raided pension funds and walked away with millions, if you’re a tax evader , etc….nothing matters to them…money equal success period…….The party of values…..
I am no fan of Ezra Klein but this is pretty good.
Nine takeaways on Romney’s tax plan
The Tax Policy Center bent over backwards to make Romney’s promises add up.
It’s good to know!
The fact that they couldn’t make Romney’s numbers work even when they stacked all these scenarios on top of one another shows just how impossible Romney’s promises are.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/ezra-klein/wp/2012/08/02/nine-takeaways-on-romneys-tax-plan/
I’m posting point number 5 because it is important, they always use the same lame excuse.
5) Evidence the Romney campaign does not have a good counterargument, part two: They tried to brush the Tax Policy Center’s analysis off as “just another biased study from a former Obama staffer.” That former Obama staffer is Adam Looney, one of the study’s three co-authors, who was a staff economist on the Council of Economic Advisers from 2009 to 2010. But William Gale, one of Looney’s coauthors on this study, was a staff economist on George H.W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers. And the Tax Policy Center is directed by Donald Marron, who was actually a principal on George W. Bush’s Council of Economic Advisers. Calling the Tax Policy Center biased is ridiculous.
I read yesterday that the ”entrepreneur” received federal aid…..like all the ones they chose for their ads…it’s so ridiculous
Well he’s got to say that since it’s Romney’s ad. I wouldn’t be surprised if he like the rest of them also got some type of government assistance.
Because that’s the demon’s style..go into Hyper Victim mode and demonize Everything. WAH WAH WAH.
Yo, yo, yo all you O, O, Os!!!!!! A great getting up day again on TOD street!!! Well, skip, skip, skip to my Lou, skip, skip, skip to my Lou…..watching the dressaged up dancing ponies at the Olympics. I’m waiting for one of them to break out into the Casper slide or a little bump and grind.. You know, twirl around on their heads and then thump their heart with their hoof kinda thing.
My political take today is I think Mittiful’s horse should be the VP pick.
Well you gotta admit it does have more personality than Jindal and Pawltney combined. Watching that ad I couldn’t help but think about Francis The Talking Mule whom I’m pretty sure was a Democrat.
🙂 Or Mr, Ed…
Ah desertflower thanks. How could I forget that one? I should have gone right to source and asked the horse so he could give me the answer that I endorse.
Sorry that just slipped out.
hahahahaha!!!! Oh Wiiiiiiilllllllaaaaaardddd!!!!! nneeeeeigggghhhh!!!
No you didn’t!
Good morning, OTeam. Another day of having the great fortune of waking up to President Obama and our First Family in the White House.
Julian Castro is wasting no time. He sent out an email outreach today to inform and recruit for an OFA Latino-to-Latino outreach phonebank for Colorado. He’s on it!!
Our Donna Dem needs just one new donation today to keep her pledge:
https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/donnanoshock3
GOOOOOOO Donna!!
I’ve got this one! 🙂
Done! Hope DD4O is home soon, that goal will need to go up before long! 😆
Thanks so much, Pamela! Donna and President Obama approve of this message!
Hee! Now I had better get off to work, little old lady waiting! But, guess what? I am planning to take the day off on Sunday! Fingers crossed nothing else comes up…. I almost dare not think on it too much!
Oh Thank you soooo much Meta and Pamela!
I’m not gone away yet but I am knee deep in work trying to get everything cleaned up before I leave this weekend.
6 days down and 94 to go!
The Streak Is Alive and Well!!!!
We’ve got your back, DD4O! You work hard, then get out of town, and have a wonderful rest! 🙂
Watch the pollsters and forecasters slowly but surely adjust their models to conform to reality as Nov draws near…
The media doesn’t want to admit it but there’s a landslide on the horizon. That’s why the are trying desperately to pretend it’s a horse race.
Correct. They’ve seen the internal polling but were hoping they could “massage” things a bit and maximize their ratings…there’s still some time, but it’s looking increasingly difficult for the media to have any major sway in the outcome of this election.
Americans are waking up, they’re more savvy with alternate ways of getting info besides the bought and paid for “Evening (opinions disguised as) News” on CableTVCorp, Inc., and the Obama campaign is simply unparalleled and can’t be easily outdone or replicated.
I’ll say it again. When Fox News’ own poll shows PBO with a 7 to 8 point lead that has been holding steady for several months then things are a lot worse for Romney then the rest of the media is letting on.
Absolutely.
I Tivo Rev Al, Chris Matthews, Ed, Rachel and Lawrence to watch at my convenience. I was watching yesterday’s last night. I usually watch Lawrence and Rachel followed by Rev Al since I think their’s are the most informative. I only watch Ed and Tweety if I have the time. Last night I did watch Chris Matthews and noticed everyone else had polls showing PBO way ahead in the swing states and Tweety’s polls showed him only 3 to 1 points ahead and Romney ahead in one state. The polls were done by unknown pollers to me. He really has a hard time giving PBO any credit. Although I have seen him swing into hate mode for Romney too.
Yup. Reality is a bitch.
The Ladies FINALLY have a new post up!! http://margaretandhelen.com/
then there is Missouri Republican Senator Roy Blunt who has a bill to allow insurance plans to opt out of the requirement on contraception coverage if they have moral objections.
An insurance plan can have moral objections? So corporations can vote and insurance plans can find me morally objectionable. What’s next? Fast food companies can make kids gay? No wait. I’m getting confused. I’m old. It happens.
Yes. Not having sex is an alternative to taking birth control pills. But then again not eating fatty foods is an alternative to open heart surgery. Anyone have a moral objection to insurance companies covering Cheney’s bypass… es… what’s the plural for bypass?
You know what? I have a moral objection. I object to the Republican party deciding that a separation of church and state doesn’t apply to their churches. Last time I checked, my church didn’t have a problem with birth control and wasn’t trying to force anyone to use it or not use it. If Blunt and Rehberg object to birth control they can certainly start abstaining anytime they wish. Something tells me their wives already have. I have yet to see any law passed by Democrats that forces Blunt and Rehberg to eat cottage cheese.
I have moral objections to unnecessary wars. I don’t have to pay my taxes, right?
I certainly have moral objections to Cheney getting the heart that should have gone into a young person’s body. I want my taxes back!
First of all, the bill is ridiculous (as is the bill’s sponsor): Insurance companies LOVE paying for contraception. It keeps other health care costs down, and maximizes their profits.
Exactly:)

Premonition of things to come. No wonder mittbot distanced himself from his own horse. What an asshole.
I got nothing against the horse personally but I hope it sinks even further. Sorry Rafalca.
“Rafalca” doesn’t sound like a proper Amurrican name to me. Let me see it’s papers!!!! 👿
I just talked to Rafalca about that. Apparently Romney while shredding his governor records “accidentally” shredded Rafa’s as well.
😆 😆 😆
I’m sure if Rafalca had a choice, she (?–is Raf a girl or a boy horsey, haven’t bothered to find out) would not be dancing. Notice horses in natural settings. They are not dancing. Humans often mistreat our animal friends for selfish, stupid entertainment purposes. One day there will be no bull fights, horse racing, circus animals etc. etc. etc.
Rafalca is gonna pretend that it’s going through the paces and do a sidestep right out of the arena. The audience and judges will think it’s a fancy new two step that Rafalca threw in there to impress. In reality, it’ll be Rafalca making its escape. It’s gonna bob and weave all the way to the parking lot, where Seamus will be waiting in the get away car.
LOL!! Good one.
I can’t help but feel sorry for the horse, not that is is placing behind, but that it has to live with those people. Horses suffer too, as do all sentient beings. They would rather be free than enslaved to a life like that. IMO.
I don’t know, what horse wouldn’t want to wake up every morning to a new braided hairdo, dressaged up in the latest fashion, high steppin’ all the way to the air conditioned barn, to be fed golden oats. I kid, and get your point. I’m still trying to figure out why this is an Olympic sport. It’s the only one where animals are judged on performance, rather than a human being. Even it it’s ridden by a person, it’s still what the horse does that gets the score. Something’s wrong with that picture. I think if it’s going to be a sport, it should be done before or after horse racing events or during half-time of a rodeo.
New video from Stephanie Cutter!
Thank you, meta! Shared on Dashboard. Lady Chips….this one deserves more attention!!! Hugs!
Added it to the top of the post DF, thank you – and Meta!
Thank YOU:)
This is very scary stuff and I’m furious that Romney has mucked things up:
U.S. and Israel Intensify Talks on Iran Options
ASHKELON, Israel — A series of public statements and private communications from the Israeli leadership in recent weeks set off renewed concerns in the Obama administration that Israel might be preparing a unilateral military strike on Iran, perhaps as early as this fall.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/02/world/middleeast/in-israel-panetta-warns-iran-on-nuclear-program.html?_r=1&smid=tw-share
I don’t think russia and china are just going stand idly by if and when nut-n-yahoo pulls his war-mongering shite. And the UN and most of EU would not stand for it either given the dire global economic scenario.
Netanyahu has been braying for war with Iran forever as far back as I can remember. Cheney would have been his best bet but we were embroiled in too many other horror shows of his own making. The idea that bombing Iran would settle anything is sheer insanity. Netanyahu would be inciting a colossal nightmare. He doesn’t have any support as you point out.
He’s braying for a war against a country that is desperate for negotiations been hit hard by the sanctions and is at least two decades away from getting a nuke. Why?
WTF?
No point in his continuing … The Syrian people, as has been the case for the past ~ 20 months, will determine their destiny.
Yep, we are entering the final phase of this entire process. All the signs are there.
Once it was out in the open yesterday that President Obama had authorized some sort of “Help” for the Syrian rebels you just knew shit was going to get real serious real fast. I mean when President Obama “Suggests” that you to leave the country, just leave.
meta & Don – yep.
And, Don, the ‘preparations’ have been ongoing for quite some time, as you can imagine given that it’s #PBP at the helm 🙂
Good policy and political analysis of Romney’s tax middle class plan!
Fantastic Ad! Very effective.
Is this what “getting your freak on” means?/ http://www.balloon-juice.com/2012/08/02/mitt-gets-his-marching-orders/
A puppet….that’s a scary thing.
Yay! PBO is returning to Iowa sometime in mid-August. Probably won’t be in my neck of the woods, but still great news. 🙂
Boo! Mitt will be in Iowa next Tuesday fundraising with the rich folk. And our illustrious governor. And our fabulous R senator.
A noise worse than boo! Sister Sarah is also coming to our fair state. Please, no. We’ve suffered enough. Apparently she’s on some sort of Chick-fil-A tour. http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2012/08/01/sarah-palin-says-after-she-eats-some-chick-fil-a-shes-coming-to-iowa/. Fortunately, we don’t have very many of those places here. Unfortunately, one of them is 1 mile from my house.
I’ve never heard of Chick-Fil-A before. Don’t think they’re in my area.
Wow, she’ll do anything as long as it’s not a real job.
This kicks ass. I don’t know how to get this Rachel piece up from last night…but it’s here. Pass this around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/08/02/1115963/-Rachel-Maddow-helps-President-Obama-insert-Political-Shiv-Twists-the-Knife
desertflower, that was an unbelievable piece Rachel did and I’m so glad you posted the link. I couldn’t believe it – I mean my jaw was on the floor. What a filthy, filthy liar Romney is. He has no business running for President and the media are fools if they don’t go after him harder on his taxes. The American people have a right to know about his history of gob smacking lies for personal gain. It’s revealing isn’t it of just how pathological he is about money.
FYI – OFA CA just posted a bunch of very useful dox for phonebanking Nevada on Dashboard.
And PBO just came out with a new ad in Spanish. And, yes, he says he approves this message in Spanish!
Lots of high profile Latino events in FL coming up to coincide with PBO’s campaign appearances – Marc Anthony and Eva Longoria are participating.
This is really worth the click:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/08/02/1115977/-Mr-Romney-You-Haven-t-Built-A-Damn-Thing
Yes it really was. Righteous. Thanks.
I really will get back here soon. The company is gone and I just have to get the chores caught up now.

I do genealogy as a hobby and today I engaged with a person who told me her Uncle, born in 1925 at home, has no birth certificate. Not even a delayed birth certificate. He can’t get one because there is no longer anyone alive who can testify about the circumstances of his birth. This gentleman served in WWII in the Navy, but has no birth certificate. If he lived in a State with anti-voter laws, he would not be able to vote. Even though he served this country in the big War. Good thing he lives in WA.
Look what the NonSnark Knoller was forced to admit. (I’m sure this will be followed with how much this is costing the taxpayers and that it’s the 9,367th time Obama’s campaigned in Orlando and how many times he’s played golf on a Sunday not in Orlando).
But for the moment—–
Excellent read!!!!!!!!! http://www.thepragmaticpundit.com/2012/07/why-are-so-many-americans-so-dumb.html
Sure was!
New post everyone, back in a while
