We can reflect on the many ways the #KOCHSTERS have done everything possible to destroy the physical, societal and institutional infrastructure of America, but sometimes the most ludicrous serves to best exemplify the absurdity of the #KOCHSTER infested GOP. Since posting a tweet on the previous thread the naming of Post Office charade really captures that absurdity quite well.

H/T to Christi for posting the ABC news link in the previous thread.

This would make a powerful ad if the DCCC would take it on. It’s just perfect in its juxtaposition. These two years must have been excruciating for Nancy Pelosi. Imagine knowing exactly what needs to be done and how vital it is and seeing it all frittered away by a jackass GOP Congress. I want so much for that gavel to come back to her hands so she can bang Boehner over the head with it as her first act.

The effing Fed did nothing to stimulate the economy.

NYT: “Fed Offers No New Stimulus; Still Sees ‘Exceptionally Low’ Rates Through Late 2014

The Federal Reserve’s policy-making committee took no new steps to support the economy at a meeting that ended Wednesday, although the committee signaled in a statement that it was ready to take new action if job growth does not improve.

The Fed said that the pace of economic growth had slowed over the summer, and said that it expects the unemployment rate to fall “only slowly.”

Nonetheless, the Fed chose to defer action at least until the committee’s next meeting in September, in hopes that the regular arrival of new data will provide greater clarity about the health of the economy.”

Bernacke reminds me of my sister-in-law who would yell constantly at her children, “I mean it this time. I really mean it.”

Yeah, you’re waiting for Evil Incarnate until you do something to effing help. What kind of Americans are these people?

    • August 1, 2012 at 2:53 pm

Personally, I think this is fine – but I stand to be corrected. I was listening to an economist who said that the ones who benefit from the Fed stimulus are large corporations, who benefit from the bank rates when they’re seeking loans – because the stimulus is really at that mega dollar level. And he said that does little to actually stimulate the economy, because they’re hoarding the money. So, I’m quite happy that the Fed is denying these banksters any more secret money to hoard away, while rooting for the economy and the President’s demise. The people who should be working on a stimulus are the people in Congress – which would actually make a difference to the lives of normal working people.

I really know very little about this, but I thought there were things they could do to encourage, if not compel, more lending. Thought I read that somewhere, but I defer to your better knowledge, theo67.

I just commented about that on Twitter! It’s ridiculous and it’s not a breaking story. Monetary Policy by the Fed is not as strong a tool these days. Plus there’s not a whole lot they can do to lower short term rates, when it’s already close to zero.

Could they pump more liquidity into the economy? Sure, but it won’t help! Businesses won’t hire, won’t make more goods or deliver more services until Consumer Confidence and disposable income picks up.

The effect of Federal reserve to immediately impact anything is not as effective as full on govermnet spending. If there were unemployment benefits. if the freaking RedState governors would take the stimulus money to hire teachers and pay police & first responders, there would actually be more consumer confidence.

Right now, we are in a danger of a downward spiral of self fulfilling prophecy! If Consumer Confidence goes down, then spending stops. If the consumer demand drops, manufacturers and business will stop producing or hiring people to provide goods and services!

So I agree with you Theo67!

I want to adopt the OFA Latino phrase, Estamos Unidos, for all women. We are united and together we are a powerful force to be reckoned with. The GOP has harmed and denigrated women at their peril and I pray God they will pay for every misogynist remark they made in November.

All the medal winners – can’t see him leaving out silver and bronze. In fact if the entire Olympic contingent wasn’t so large I could see him having them all there for a thank you session.

The Senate Republicans blocked the Violence against Womens Act, because it includes language to protect the LGBT Community.

Thus, I feel bad for the Gay Community, the Republicans like to pick on them, sees them as less than!
