I was sitting there trying to decide if I should click, trying to second guess Chips to the minute. Will she post 1/2 hour before or twenty minutes before? What’s been the recent trend, etc. etc? My math didn’t work this time. Kudos to your math computating skills! 😆 😆

I’ll take the OC, thank you, and you have lots of time to save up for it. 😆 HOWEVER, a Chips calculator is more of an absolute necessity right now and leading up to November. You always sneak in, slitter away, or get lost in transit when I am positive I have your movements perfectly calibrated. Come to think of it, forget the calculator, how about a Chips Bell? Trust me, I will take good care of it, not lending it to anyone who might abuse its use. 😉 😉 .

Hi TOD family — This long-time lurker de-cloaking. I love this site for it’s positivity. I love PBO, FLOTUS, VPOTUS and SLOTUS. And I love the promise of young leaders like Julian Castro. I don’t know which is moving faster…Dems ascending or Repubs descending!!

Great question. It takes longer to build good things than it does to tear down things, so I would say the Republican party is descending faster. Hopefully the Republican Senate primary in Texas yesterday was a sign they are approaching the bottom.

I guess this is an appropriate thread to re-post this link to the Smithsonian First Ladies Exhibit. I was in DC this weekend and got to view our FLOTUS’ beautiful Inaugural Dress and accessories. Absolutely gorgeous! If you get a chance to see it, see it! 😛

We have progressed indeed! 😆 There were some other very beautiful dresses (and also some real duds)….

FLOTUS’ dress was even more beautiful in person and people were snapping away with their phones and cameras — lots of pics of little girls in front of the dress. Lots of Michelle love there. ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Saw it in person when I went to DC in June. The detailing is underestimated and really pretty. I love the dress but I can’t wait till her second one, I know it’s going to be the best thing since sliced bread.

A dear friend of mine saw it in person last year. She said the same thing about the detailing. She said you have to see it in person to fully appreciate how gorgeous it is. I’m anxiously awaiting the second one also.

Howdy Os!!!! What a great getting up day on the banks of the shores of TOD!!! Thanks to all of you who donated to my fundraiser page yesterday. I’m sorry I posted it and had to run. Tell your female friends, daughters, nieces, wives, moms that effective today, they are entitled to certain preventative, screening, and contraceptive healthcare benefits with no co-pay. Thanks to PBO and ACA insurance companies will cover that cost. Check with your carrier because the insurance companies have a window in which to enact the rule. Many are waiting until their open enrollment period at the end of the year. Either way, that’s no small potatoes.

My politicall take today is that I can’t wait until Mittiful takes his next trip. As long as it’s to the barn to dance with the horse and back, he should be okay. Meanwhile, PBO continues to gain in the key battleground states.

    • 32 57andfemale
      August 1, 2012 at 1:34 pm

I am a huge proponent of ACA. I’m pragmatic and I think history will write that we made this enormous step against incalculable odds and obstruction. I support the bill with my whole heart.

I am so happy for all of my sisters who now have access to the health care they deserve. But there is something amiss in this, the Greatest Country in the World: those without insurance are still without this coverage or have to pay out of pocket if they can afford it. Until 2014, so many people are left in this enormous health care hole.

This is not what our great President and Speaker Pelosi and Leader Reid wanted, but this was the best they could do against monolithic Republican obstruction and the damage of Blue Dogs. Joe Lieberman, for no other reason than he was peeved at ‘liberals’ who cost him the Democratic nomination for Senator, single handedly stopped Medicare for 55 and over. THAT would have flooded the Medicare coffers with new premiums and would have given much-needed health care to the people most at risk for not having it.

All of the benefits that we have seen — and they have been many and most welcome — were given to people who already had some health care coverage: existing policies, Medicare. But except for more help from the high risk pools, which are a state-by-state hodge podge, the uninsured are left waiting.

      It’s so sad.

Starting Wednesday, thanks to the Affordable Care Act, all new insurance policies will be required to cover the vital care women need to stay healthy without charging a fee to the patient. As a result, millions of women will soon be able to walk into their doctor’s office and get preventive services such as an annual well-woman visit without paying a dollar out of pocket.

What I sent to my email friends and family who don’t do any other form of innerwebz type social media. I try to keep them in the loop as well, cause they listen/look at MSM and don’t get much other perspective:

    Subject: Boo Ya!!!!

How many women’s lives will be impacted and saved by our President who fought for the Affordable Care Act (ACA), or better known as Obamacare? The term, Obamacare started out as a derogatory one coined by the right wing conservatives who thought it would denigrate
the great work that Pres Obama achieved. Well, guess what? Obama does care. More than any other President who tried, but failed to see that all Americans had the right and access to affordable healthcare. Pass this on to any woman you know, especially those who may have doubts about what Pres. Obama means to all citizens, not just the select entitled portion of the population.

Thanks to #ObamaCare, starting today, women’s preventive health care is more affordable. pic.twitter.com/H9zWbrqb (link to Chris Van Hollen’s tweet above)

I asked them, including my conservative friends, what woman in their right mind would vote Republican. I told them I’m open to hear their challenge to today’s good news. Still waiting, but I don’t expect to hear from any of them.

I see a tweet I want to retweet. No problem. But I’d also like to shove the facts in said tweet to all Romney followers.

I know if I’m composing a new tweet, a period before the person I’m tweeting sends it to all of that person’s followers.

These phony radical extreme Republicans claim they care about putting people back to work, it’s time for the sorry ass media to ask them what have they been doing to put people back to work? Yesterday these Republicans in the House were debating another abortion bill. Where are the jobs bill? The American people need to see through what the Republicans are doing and make them pay in November. There could have been an infrastructure bill pass which would have put people back to work fixing our roads and bridges, but these Republicans refuse to pass it because it would help the President get re-elected. They decided to put themselves first and the American people last. That is why yesterday some Republican said he was quitting because how extreme his party have become. This economy could have been alot better if the Republicans had work with this President. And i pray the American people sees that too, and help but alot of those Republicans in the unemployment line.
