‘my cranky boss was at it again’ … 🙄

Chips, you want me to have a word or two with him for you? Like “w’sup bud?”

Just let me know and I’ll distract his attention. In the meantime, here’s a wee bit of Amk’s port. I doubt he’d mind that I hid a bottle away for emergencies. Sit down, put your feet up and relax for a bit, and BTW, in an unknown plan to help him cut down his intake let’s not mention the bottle to him. 😉

Burning the midnight oil continuously is not an optimum scenario. I’m sure there are a couple of willing TOD souls with time on their hands who can give you some support. I like the grey suit too. Looks light and summery. Noticed LOD also had a grey suit on tonight…..the new color? It’s a little less formal, but classy.
We know the Obamas are style setters, but I think a lot of women are following FLOTUS who would probably never admit it, and that’s in wearing sleeveless dresses. News anchors and commentators, and many women on TV are going sleeveless, which would never have happened four or five years ago. I love it…….Her influence goes wide and deep.

Arizona has been in the news lately, mostly because of weather.

Last week, the Daily Mail UK featured a Phoenix “haboob” sand storm on its US landing page, and now it looks like you’re having torrential rains. If you don’t have to go outside, and don’t live in a low or downslope area, I’d guess the downpour is preferable.

Now, AZ is in the news because R-money has the support of only 18% of Latinos:

R-money lies/switches position hourly. Any yet some polls have him ahead of PBO in honesty. How is that possible?

      • 43 desertflower
        July 31, 2012 at 10:50 pm

AZ…always something! Yes…the haboob (love to say that…freaks people out) was nasty. They’re so awful, I can’t even tell you how much I hate them..and dangerous ! We did get a nice bit of rain here this afternoon. I swear…it’s a darn good thing that snow doesn’t come to Phoenix too often, because I’d hate to see these people drive in the snow! They can’t even drive in the rain for goodness sakes! Some woman pulled right out in front of me today and it was very hard to stop my car…rain slicked roads with oil on them….I managed, but for crying out loud.

I’m surprised that Romney even HAS 18%…even so..NOT GOOD….for HIM!!!
That Atlantic piece….balderdash. Those folks must have been hitting the port to hard when they answered:)

Tea Party favorite Ted Cruz defeated Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst in a Republican primary runoff for an open U.S. Senate seat, the Texas Tribune projected on Tuesday.

I saw on Twitter a week back the hashtag #FreedomWorks (Beck, Palin etc.) and saw they hosted a large rally of Tea Partiers from around the world. They were rallying around Ted Cruz and focused on getting out the vote to beat their incumbent Dewhurst. They got their win. I really hope the national support for PBO translates into across the ticket support for any Dems. President O needs a Dem majority House and Congress to solidify the vision of America’s future.

“”Romney’s remarks totally neglect historical facts and are actually irresponsible if he just meant to appeal to voters at home,” said the Chinese.”

Romney’s trip abroad was basically a Really Big Shit Stirrer and he’s blaming it on the press because he can’t even be held responsible for his own damn mouth.

  14. July 31, 2012 at 10:33 pm

“Justice Dept investigating all major banks for LIBOR could easily locate untaxed $21 to $32 trillion hidden overseas”

Or to put it another way, the LIBOR investigation could end up throwing an even wider net than most people would imagine.

Remember, major banks have been accused of being critical players in shifting untaxed income overseas. Most international banks have some kind of presence in the U.S., and prosecutors can offer deals on sentencing in exchange for cooperation — especially if there are much larger fish and/or a much larger crime on the table.

Which means when these threads start to unravel in the United States, they will unravel almost everywhere.

    Think about it.

Because you know Justice already is…

    • July 31, 2012 at 10:40 pm

Those bankers must be screaming at the GOP for trying to pin a scandal on Sec Geithner, even though he was the whistle-blower back then. Well, now he’s in a position to do something about the banksters. And they can thank the GOP for that!

    • July 31, 2012 at 11:14 pm

      Goodbye deficit and debt.

      • July 31, 2012 at 11:54 pm

Well, who knows how large “our share” would be in the U.S. They were estimating that America was “only” losing around $280 billion in tax revenues last year, though fines and collecting multiple years of back taxes might make restitution substantially greater than that one-year shortfall.

Still, it could be undeveloped nations in which large sums have been illegally “offshored” where the “real money” — relative to the size of their economies and their per capita income — ends up rolling in.

Sorta off topic, but not really: On the link that posted the “Team Obama” — PBO’s cabinet, some of us TODers had a discussion about the length of PBO’s suit pants. This picture focuses on Jay Carney, but also shows a great variety of suit pants breaks among some of the “President’s men.”

    • July 31, 2012 at 10:44 pm

I’m torn. I like them to look the right length when he’s standing (which he’s rarely doing – he’s always in motion), but I get annoyed if they’re riding up like flood-pants when he’s walking or sitting. So, I’d rather them be a little long and look good when he’s in his swagger. (Not that my opinion on this means squat, of course).

      • 101 isonprize
        July 31, 2012 at 10:57 pm

Yeah, that’s why I think he and his tailor prefer the ‘full break.’ The cool swag factor wins!!

Besides, I think all of his casual slacks, though certainly not ‘mom- jeans’, are high-waters. So, I’m happy to see his suit pants longer.

  17. July 31, 2012 at 10:39 pm

WASHINGTON — Most Americans have never heard of Virgil Goode, a former party-switching congressman with a distinctive Virginia drawl who conceivably could decide the presidential election. But he is well known to President Barack Obama’s team of political advisers.

Goode served six terms in Congress from Virginia and is gathering signatures to appear on the ballot in his home state as the presidential candidate from the Constitution Party. He’s already on the ballot in more than a dozen other states with an anti-immigration, pro-term limit platform he hopes makes a dent with the electorate. It’s not likely to be much of a dent, but enough in Virginia for Obama campaign officials to take close notice of his potentially helpful candidacy.

  18. July 31, 2012 at 10:46 pm

ROFLMAO Just read Huffpo piece where traveling press secretary tells press to “Kiss my ass, this is a holy site for the Polish people. Show some respect.” Forget optics, let the President and family take their regularly scheduled vacation in Martha’s Vineyard and just let Romney and his people speak some more. The second team can take them with their hands behind their backs.

Good evening all. Chips, thanks for posting my fundraiser!

    What a day.

    – R’money and his staff prove money can’t by class.
    – The disjointed, uninformed, testimony of PA Secretary of the Commonwealth proves that the voter id law is voter suppression. SMH!

I refuse to be distracted! Conducted a Voter ID Info Workshop at a local church last evening; am scheduled to do one for young folks (18 – 24) on Friday evening. The church’s transportation ministry is running a shuttle to the PennDOT office so folks can get their id’s. The local beauty shop and barber shop are both serving and mini-Obama Offices — they conduct voter reg, voter id info, and Obama accomplishments education. My community bank is doing voter reg and voter id education.

Here is a really good resource for Pennsylvania Voter ID: http://www.pahouse.com/documents/2012/Voter-ID-Education-Guide.pdf

Absolutely wonderful news, Alycee. Our regional OFA director told us not to become obsessed over the voter ID law, but to keep our heads down and do our job of registering voters and making sure they have photo IDs. If we keep registering voters, we can overcome the disparity created by the law. The OFA is making sure that all colleges and elderly care centers know about the photo ID and expiration date requirements. Meanwhile the hearing before Commonwealth Court Judge Simpson continues and our side is on fire. Keep on pressing on.

Among the ads for toothpaste and dish detergent, the loyal viewers of daytime television are seeing a new pitch: Support President Obama.

“Judge Judy,” in fact, has become one of the favorite venues for the Obama campaign and its allies to reach sympathetic voters. When the courtroom reality show featuring a sharp-tongued former judge airs in swing states, it often comes with ads telling viewers that Republican candidate Mitt Romney uses tax havens and has shipped jobs overseas as a businessman.

The show is considered an ideal vehicle for commercials pushing the president’s reelection because such courtroom programs are watched by a large number of African Americans — twice the average share for television in general.

Those shows also disproportionately draw Hispanics, another voting bloc critical for an Obama victory.

With the president and Romney virtually tied in the polls, targeted TV ads have become a central strategy to shore up support for Obama among voters who turned out in force in 2008.

“They’re trying to get people who they can count on,” said Tad Devine, a top media strategist for Sen. John F. Kerry’s 2004 presidential campaign. “There’s not a big audience to persuade out there, so the respective sides are going to their corners.”

I don’t know if we can blame Mitt for this one – the husband was clearly dysfunctional. There’s plenty more that he is actually and legitimately to be blamed for. This is just tragic.

I’m several days behind, so good day & good night. Just checked the News (aka Chip’s TOD for the past several days) & so glad to hear about the San Antonio Mayor! I was bon in that town many decades ago, and it’s just exciting to hear. I hope Chips is getting some good zzzzzz’s tonight & thank you all for the great links everday, and insight. Anyway Chips, thanks for the News, because all I’ve caught on the tube at night is the Olympics. I wait until the evening to hear how we’ve done, and Wow, the women’s gymnastics was great & Phelps breaking record for medals. I made a small donation Chips, hope it made it’s way to your count.

Yes….which I think is why the republicans are all getting so squirrelly now….this drip, drip, drip…people are getting a clue, and the more they hear, the more they begin to connect the dots….it’s going to be ugly for them. I can feel it. We just have to keep getting the truth out, and keep pushing. Everyday. All day. Hard. People don’t like to be taken advantage of or lied to….it’s beginning to occur to some people, that this is exactly what’s been happening under their noses…and that they have been used and abused in the process. Not good.

The British were offended, the Palestinians accused him of racism and even in friendlier Poland, Mitt Romney’s union policies drew criticism from the current leaders of the movement that toppled Communism.

Romney’s visit to Britain, Israel and Poland was never expected to produce the same media frenzy as then-candidate Barack Obama’s extravagant, eight-country tour of 2008.

Obama received rock star treatment from international media and world leaders as he traveled from the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan to the glittering chancelleries of Europe.

Nevertheless, comparisons were inevitable and much of it was less than favorable to the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Ny Times has an article of 3 Seing State polls that the President is doing well in.
Why isn’t anybody in the news discussing this article and how voters basically see Robney as the Boss, and not like Him?
This is extraordinary and Axelrid should be tweeter this information!

Right! See? Their is a lot of goodies(candy) in that poll.
Good for talking points. When everything is to define Robney before His convention, you should jump on info like this!
Robney is going to have to use the better portion if His convention to tell us all how Wonderful he and Miss Ann are, and it’s their turn, etc.
