Making fun of me again, are you, Pamela? 😉 I notice you were so busy today you didn’t stick your head in as often. Your lady doing relatively better these days?
No, she is not really improving, but holding, sort of. Some days time does not exist anymore. Yesterday I knew I wouldnt have time at all, so left iPad home altogether! I can check from my phone, but once the threads are long, it is challenging to keep up! Sometimes I just lurk a bit, then am off again. Sometimes, I just have nothing to say! (wha-a-t)!
Okay. Me, I’ll mostly be on the road from 11:30am Monday, with lots of hours spent in airports, then reaching a hotel in Buffalo late Monday night. I’ll pick up my car there, and drive the last leg home the next morning. Definitely the most travel experience I’ve had in forever! 😉
Thanks, Betsy. Crossing the border into US was okay, tho slow. Let’s hope you are right about both sides of the border being nice. 😉 I’ll be very happy to get back home (I’m a home body), especially to water my poor plants that I forgot to saturate before I left.
Thanks freinds. I was already on the site when it popped up a new thread. I just opened it up. This is not always true for me. Most the time very S LO W 🙂
When Hamhead Hannity was interviewing Zimmerman concerning his murdering Trayvon Martin he said that Rev. Al ‘rushed to judgement’ and a spokesperson from MSNBC replied that he did not rush to judgement in his reporting. Made me happy. The article is on Politico.
WOW,..these seniors of Century Village are LOVING our President. I’ve never seen senior citizens get so excited about someone who’s 20+ years younger than them 🙂
Those excited ladies kissing PBO are accurate representations of more grandmas(like me) than you can imagine. I watched them kissing him and felt happy for them and for all of us who were there in spirit.
r’money does not have a lock on the older white voters. just look at those intelligent faces behind him–he’s speaking to people who care about the country, they care about the future. they’re not just trying to line their pockets by aligning with mr richie rich and miss ann-toinette. i keep reading that pbo has the hispanic vote, the black vote, the youth vote, the women vote–as if he represents the fringe somehow. the middle class, blue collar, older white american is treated as a r’money constituency. that’s a fabrication, and these florida videos prove it.
WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney saved himself hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes in 2010 by transferring stock in two companies from his personal account to a nonprofit entity he set up. The stock maneuver included $172,397 in shares of Sensata Technologies, a company now under fire for a high-profile effort to offshore central Illinois jobs to China.
Sensata produces sensors, switches and various mechanical controls. The Attleboro, Mass.-based company is owned by Bain Capital, the private equity firm Romney founded, and it already does most of its work in overseas plants. A remaining factory in Freeport, Ill., garnered national attention when remaining workers began pleading with Romney to exercise his influence over Bain Capital to save their jobs.
Romney had received the Sensata stock as part of a Bain payout; he listed no cost for it on his tax return. By transferring that stock to his nonprofit Tyler Charitable Foundation, he avoided roughly $25,000 in capital gains taxes he would have owed. He also shaved an additional $50,000 off his tax bill by deducting the charitable contribution from his income.

Ryan Grimm over at Huffington Post is doing great work to expose Mitt Romney.
This crowd at Century Village is FEISTY! He’s connecting with them on the issues that matter to them. PBO just said that his administration has been cracking down on Medicare Fraud like nobody’s business (which got huge applause) and someone in the crowd yelled out Rick Scott’s name and something else and PBO just smiled a huge smile and kind of laughed.
I wish the crowd at Century Village could be recruited to make senior to senior calls in Florida. Nobody is too old for that–we have 80+ people calling and even people in the 90s. The president can’t go to every senior site in the state, but this group can spread the word. Hope OFA steps in to get them started.
Agreed! I just sent a tweet to @OFA_FL saying that if that group are not volunteers, they should be! Maybe they had some OFA people there to do just that. I wonder how how the campaign decided to go to that community anyway.
POTUS: Theres more.. as they’re yelling 4 more yrs… I am loving this crowd.. and he seems to be also- of course he is excellence itself when it comes to interacting with people while speaking. Do we all know how awesome it is that we have a President who TALKS to us??? I can listen to him say these same things 3 times a day everyday and it never gets old- he is informing us one group at a time..
And he tells EVERY single group the same thing, the same thing. He doesn’t not talk about DADT or Immigration just because he’s talking to one kind of group…
I wonder why you folks keep saying ‘little old’ ladies? Being a potential little old lady myself, who likes to feel she’s tall, I’m not exactly sure I feel comfortable with the label, plus it ignores the ‘little old men’ in the audience. Maybe, in future, we can transition to seniors/senior citizens/ladies/elderly ladies? Whatever, what do I know? It just feels a little odd to read the repeated references to little old ladies when so many of the ladies I saw behind the Pres looked neither little nor old TO ME.
🙄 VC, smarten up! Sheri, this was not meant to be directed at YOU. I just seemed to see a lot of the expression going in and out of the thread and without thinking where I was, paused to enter a general caution. At the time I was merely thinking if I were one of the ladies dropping in at TOD I might not appreciate being repeatedly referred to as a little old lady. Sorry I confused you. {{Sherijr}}
no, no- not to worry vc. I went back & checked my comments- because I would never want to offend anyone in any way- so I’m grateful you pointed this out to us- I appreciate that 🙂 (((((vc))))))
seriously, something definitely in the water at Century Village!!! These little old ladies are too darn much!!! Michelle will have a thing or two to say about this!!!
“Use the ‘mute’ button or just fast forward the DVR … plus some of the pictures of me will be unflattering … one eye’s all droopy …. ” He is just mocking the GOP brilliantly and they are loving it!!!
These folks are too much! He just said that this crowd is kind of wild! LOVE. IT. PBO had me rollin about the negative ads the Repugs are running against him. He said just hit the Mute button or DVR forward through it to “cut through that nonsense”
While they have Medicare, they have kids and grandkids who are struggling with medical coverage. ACA helps them. Not to mention younger siblings who haven’t gotten old enough for Medicare. Try being middle-aged with middle aged problems and not having coverage through your job. I’m thankful every day that I found a job with the Federal Government at 40 because of the coverage I have. No worries about pre-existing conditions and the cost of medicine is affordable. No teabagger running around in a costume borrowed from Williamsburg can change those facts.
This is being done in a way that deserves more attention. Wind companies set up wind turbines and partner with the local energy company who offers it as extra beyond what they need and at a very tiny price that is billed on the customer’s regular bill. My electric utility has the program but we don’t have any turbines nearby. If people were made more aware of this, it could incite a demand for wind energy.
Mitt Romney gave a downer shout out about green energy when he was in Bowling Green, Ohio. When I checked on Wiki to find out where Bowling Green is, I found out that Bowling Green has 4 wind turbines that power thousands of home there.
That was actually one of the most enjoyable speeches in the last week, and they have all been excellent. But I honestly was not quite expecting to be this entertained and inspired at the same time.
It’s just such a total pleasure to see him campaign. And when there’s a good crowd, a fun-loving mischievous crowd, all the better!! I think we need to send those women an invite to TODville!! They’d have Chipstar running in circles!!
Watching these people at this event you feel sure that most of these people were very successful in their working lives. They are still vibrant and are engaged. And they love our President.
Science guy Bill Nye endorses President Obama http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/19/science-guy-bill-nye-endorses-president-obama/
————————————————
Appearing at a press conference this week with Rep. Rob Andrews (D-NJ) at the Seacoast Science Center, Nye told a reporter for Foster’s Daily Democrat that the 2012 presidential election is “the most important election of my life,” and emphasized the president’s commitment to not cut public education budgets.
“I believe we’re at a crossroads, a turning point,” he said. “We can either move forward, especially in education, or backward. I think voters have a clear choice, so I’m supporting the president.”
UT, did Grandma really say that? The oldies was something else tonight. FLOTUS I think next time POTUS go speak before Grandmas you might have to tag alone. 🙂
Yes, Grandma really did say that, and at one time a phone rang, and PBO said that it was Michelle calling because she was jealous of all the ladies kissing him! 🙂
I’m a grandma and I love him, and my daughter and daughter-in-law also love him. My husband and son respect and admire him….as do I. He’s definitely once in a lifetime.
I heard POTUS say that about that was FLOTUS calling, and I thought that was so funny. Where will POTUS be at tomorrow? And FLOTUS will be in Virginia, what part of Virginia. Pay attention to when POTUS speak somewhere he doesn’t even want the crowd to boo Romney, and when he have a town hall meeting, POTUS would never allow some one to call Romney out of his name, like Romney let that bitch get away with calling POTUS a monster. That’s another difference in the character of the two men. You people have to learn that.
We know it, Anniebella – the two men aren’t even in the same league. Can’t say the two names in the same sentence – unless you’re trying to illustrate an example of extreme opposites.
United States intelligence officials said on Thursday that there is no evidence to support a report that Mehdi Ghezali, a Swedish citizen and former detainee at Guantanamo Bay from 2002 to 2004, is responsible for Wednesday’s suicide attack in Burgas, Bulgaria. The Times of Israel reported that Bulgarian media named Ghezali as the suspect, but the report could not be independently verified.
Swedish officials denied the report early Thursday afternoon, and Bulgarian officials told ABC News that the suspect’s name was reported incorrectly.
According to The Long War Journal, Mehdi Ghezali was arrested in Pakistan in December 2001. His lawyers claim he was caught in the wrong place at the wrong time, The Weekly Standard reports.
Sweden’s The Local reports that documents released by WikiLeaks show Ghezali was held at Guantanamo to “give general and specific information of the cultural, religious and ethnic recruitment of foreign nationals participating in the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.”
The truth campaign about Bain Capital is working folks. The pundits don’t know squat. These were old folks and they know about Romney and his dishonesty.
As POTUS talked abt Romney wanting additional tax cuts for the wealthy, someone in the crowd yelled: "Where's His Tax Returns?" #ItsWorking
Speier has introduced H.R. 3435, the STOP Act, which would create a new autonomous group within the military to handle the prosecution, reporting, investigation and all other aspects of a sexual assault case. Currently, those powers are exercised solely at the discretion of the unit commander.
Dear President Obama, Thank you for running for your re-election. I know that you are the winner. It will be nice to vote for the winner on November 6, 2012. Also just know that Willard thinks that he can whine, gripe and moan his way into office. Well…..IT WON’T WORK!!!! You are our President for 4 more years and I know that your honest, aggressive, thoughtful, smart and winning ways will take you through and VP Biden through to victory. You have it going on in the most major way and here’s to 4 more years for you. I love your peace, calm and confidence while all swirls around you. I am like you and am chilling the heck out cause YOU GOT THIS!!!! Sincerely, a devoted Obama/Biden admirer, vitaminlover.
I am still hollering from the reaction of those grandmas to our Prez. What a fun bunch they were . I can’t
get the smile off my face after seeing all the LOOOOVE they showed him. I guess at a certain age you don’t
give a damn and just say what’s on your mind 🙂 which is exactly what they did. Our PBO deserves the love.
He is such a great guy. Can’t wait for the up-close pics of the kisses that will be posted by Miss Chips.
Have to re-watch this. Made my day.
PBO is what is know as an ‘endangered species’ in Century Village: 50, tall and gorgeous!!!! 😉 Those women are barracudas and PBO should have gone in with protection, namely FLOTUS! 😆 😆
I loved watching the President today! I miss all the pictures Chips usually posts. Hopes for later tonight. I am working 14 hours tomorrow and will miss everything.
do you notice that Miche never talks about PBO’s opponent? yet Mz. Money always sticks her ugly, crooked nose into politics. apparently in her GMA interview she said that Americans will “fire the coach.” she needs to shut the fuck up. She should stay her ass outta politics and leave it up to the little toddler she’s married to who thinks he can be the next president. What, when Putin pisses him off is he gonna send in the little wife to squeeze Putin’s balls? That guy is the biggest ass, only superseded by his twit of a wife. {{SMH}}
I love you lisa, Bravo to you for what you said. Ann Romney is a rich uppity snob who think she is better than you people. But we the people will show her Nov. 6th just what we think of her and her lying husband.
Betcha Queen Elizabeth wouldn’t want Mz. Robmoney touching her, but you’ll recall Her Majesty was quite affectionate (for her anyway) with our FLOTUS on her visit to the Palace. She recognized what truly extraordinary people our POTUS and FLOTUS are. We are blessed to have them leading and inspiring us.
Well said lisalovesobama. FLOTUS talks about the positive things President Obama has done and will continue after he is re-elected. She is such a classy lady.

LOL!!! I am not sure the secret service can handle and mini van full of century grannies. No one knows better than them that life is short…go for it! You gotta love how our President handles it all–In one day he is blasted by the right, kissed by a bunch of grannies, and told to take his shirt off! And we wonder why people in other countries who view our election process think we are certifiable?
All these stupid stunts to ‘keep it close’ as to drive $$$ into broadcast, print media coffers may be good for those corporations but it will only harm #BainMitt. By early Sept., people are going to be so motivated to re-elect #PBO it is going to be an amazing and fun Fall season in the USA.
I want the people to see just what the Republicans have been doing. The people can’t sit back and blame President Obama for this economy alone. They have to see what these Republicans have been doing. Open your darn eyes American. Open your darn eyes.
I think that the Obama campaign should send AMK to visit those Century ladies and calm them down. He could tell some of his jokes and those women would be in the palm of his hand. If not, it sure would be a lot of fun to watch. 🙂
That might be a problem for Robme……most porn is downloaded in the state of Utah. All those pure of heart christian men thinks it’s ok if you have sex outside marriage with yourself.
If Americans have bought into the nonsense that deficits need to be dealt with RIGHT NOW, and they also don’t want to reduce the military budget (even though pretty much every other country has cut their military budgets – knowing the US will never reduce the size of it’s humongous military), then they should readily let the middle class tax cuts expire along with those for the rich. It makes no sense to cry about deficits during the recovery of a steep recession, but still have an expectation of a middle class tax cut. Except, that combination (no cut to military budget plus eliminating middle class tax cuts during the recovery) is a recipe for disaster.
What makes more sense is to forget about deficits for the time being, invest and offer tax cuts to those who actually spend the money in the economy (the poor and the middle class) and to demand an end to tax cuts for the rich – especially those who are readily writing $10 million checks for Romney’s losing campaign.
That is some DIRTY crap C-SPAN pulled! The first 4:54 seconds is of Romney shaking hands after HIS speech then they cut to PBO’s rally. Is that slimy or WHAT?!!!
Hey TOD peeps!! I went phone banking tonight. I think it went well. I had one man that said he wasn’t voting for Romney because he doesn’t like Mormons. I just Lol’d and said does that mean you’ll be voting for the President and he said probably. He said he wasn’t too happy with PBO’s performance because he didn’t close Guantanamo bay and he felt like now was not the time to go after healthcare. I told him about the issues that stopped the closing of Guantanamo bay and I said if he didn’t go for healthcare reform now, when would he. He agreed with me. I think he is just one pf those people that need something to complain about, but he will be voting OBAMA/BIDEN in Nov. He said his wife loves Obama, LOL! I asked if she would volunteer then and he said probably. I talked to a 17 yr old that said she probably will be voting for Romney. I asked why and she said she agrees with republican values, I asked if she agreed with his policies or was it just values. Then she said she agree with him on taxes and immigration. I informed her of the middle class tax cuts under PBO and how they would be cut out if Romney became President. I also told her that PBO has deported more immigrants than Bush, but that he just wants everyone to have a fair chance and not just be deported or pulled over because of stereotypes. She listened, but I believe she is going along with what her parents think. I also threw in there the fact about loans and how the President has made it more affordable for people to go to college. I told her to read and not listen to TV news that much. All in all, I think it was a good night.
Way to go, LadyT, thank you! I plan to go listen in to some phone banking on Saturday morning. This morning I just helped in the Dem office by calling around to do some comparative shopping for a land line phone., etc. I got an Obama 2012 pin from one of the ladies present and I was very, very grateful! Everybody I met in the office was enthusiastic about PBO.
Thank you guys! Amk, I’m not sure she even knew why she would vote for Romney. She never gave me specifics and she was really open to listening to me. Hopefully she takes my advice and comes to TOD and other places to learn exactly what PBO has done and is doing.
why are people saying PBO’s pay it forward speech that was misquoted by Petunia was lifted from Elizabeth Warren? It wasn’t poached, it’s common sense, I thought it before i heard PBO say it, did PBO poach from me too? 🙄
Me either! John Fugelsang (sp) said he plaigerized it. He was joking but that is a strong accusation to make against a writer! But PBO has been expressing the same sentiments about government since for ever. He’s very consistent. In a speech on Sept. 8, 2011 (10 days before Warren’s speech was posted on YouTube) he said ” No single individual built America on their own. We built it together” Its the same theme except he didn’t use the word ‘business’.
Plus, I’ve heard Thom Hartmann talk about it in the same way but I bet Rachel would never say Warren “cribbed” it from him. If these people would actually listen to his speeches then they would know he was talking about fairness before ows and the role of government before Warren speech. They never give him credit…
Despite the soundness of earlier predictions that this could only mean Romney’s vice president would be hair that accumulates on the drain after showering, evidence in a new Gail Collins column points to Pawlenty. Collins writes: “In his book, Pawlenty tells readers that once when he was introduced to a man who had just gotten a new hearing aid, he cracked up the room by ‘moving my lips as if I were talking but without saying anything so he’d think something was wrong.’”
This is exactly the sort of joke (“joke”) that might delight a man who gave tortured gay classmates unwanted haircuts for sport—same personality (“personality”) type, indeed.
When the recent landmark decision by the Supreme Court upheld the legality of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA), several major reforms of healthcare policy and practice were assured, and one huge controversy was sparked. Some key provisions of the law apply with special significance to Florida’s children:
• Protections against excluding individuals with pre-existing conditions (at least 400,000 in Florida) from obtaining full benefits of health insurance coverage.
• Offering preventive services recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics Bright Futures Guidelines at no cost to families.
• Increasing Medicaid payment rates to Medicare levels for 2013 and 2014, improving the capacity and readiness of healthcare providers to treat children.
• Extending permission for dependent children to remain on their parent’s health insurance policy until age 26 (224,000 in Florida).
• Approving the expansion of Medicaid to one million more children and adults in Florida whose families earn incomes at or below 133 percent of the federal poverty level ($25,390 for a family of three in 2012).
We’re having a series of nasty storms in the MD-VA-DC area. Hope everyone is safe inside. Our President is spending the night in FL so he’s not traveling in that stormy weather.
Didn’t see the event, but from the comments, looks like the grandmas turned it out! Maybe my wish of seeing a big push for Seniors is coming to fruition. I just KNEW they would love him!!!

A strategist tracking the 2012 air war flags an interesting development: the Obama campaign is booking ad time for rural radio in and around the states of Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The Obama campaign has reserved about $35,000 so far in airtime between July 20 and Aug. 2. Markets include Pittsburgh, Pa.; Youngstown, Ohio; Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Huntington, Charleston and Parkersburg, W. Va.
The markets in West Virginia and Indiana — two states that are not expected to be competitive — also reach voters in Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Obama’s team hasn’t rolled out any rural voter-specific media lately but some operatives believe the president has an opportunity to pick up votes on the margins due to Mitt Romney’s weakness with certain traditionally Republican voters. And we’re not talking about hugely costly airtime here.
Back in 2010, then-Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland — a very different kind of political personality than Obama — attacked his Republican challenger, John Kasich, with rural radio ads targeting his views on trade and guns.
ERIN BURNETT: Why do you think Mitt Romney won’t release his tax returns?
BILL CLINTON: I have no idea. But it– (LAUGH) whatever it is it couldn’t be as bad as not doin’ it. I mean– you know, in his first tax return, the one year he did release all of his income was taxed at 15% capital gain. But he can honestly say he didn’t draw a salary. He was runnin’ for president, so all of his income was investment income. That was the law, whether people like it or not it was the law, he fully complied with the law.
He also gave away 16% of his income, and presumably most of it to the Mormon Church. But it didn’t hurt– I mean, I think– you know, with everyone else being so much more forthcoming it raises the question of whether he thinks it should be a different set of rules for him than everybody else.
And that’s a problem for him. But I don’t know enough about it, but he obviously has concluded that the damage he’s taking for now doing it is greater than the damage he’d take from doing it. But it’s hard to imagine that that’s true.
ERIN BURNETT: Right, that there’s something that bad in there. I mean– ’cause giving money to the Mormon Church, I mean, it was about 51%. And then for the estimated numbers he gave for 2011 about 80% to the Mormon Church. So presumably people already know that and are all right with that, I mean, even if there was some sort of–
BILL CLINTON: I think that’s– you know, commendable.
ERIN BURNETT: –I don’t know, perceived issue PR-wise with Mormonism.
BILL CLINTON: They do a lot of good work around the world. You know, the– Hawaii for example is the only state in America that has totally equal public school funding, but they only have about 2/3 to 70% of their kids in public schools because before Hawaii was a state the Mormons and others but primarily Mormons came there and set up these schools.
So– I remember when I was president I helped– secure the release of some Mormon missionaries who were in Peru and had been apprehended and imprisoned but their radical group, Sendero Luminoso, before it was eliminated. So I just can’t figure out why he doesn’t do it. I think it’s a mistake, I think he ought to do it. He ought to release a decade’s worth of tax returns.
Exactly. This is classic bill covering for his rich pals and mittbot by making them out as saints because they donate to their churches. Know what bill, churches are not governments and tithes are not taxes.
Evening guys. I’m back home in DFW. Starting the 1st day of my 7 days off for this pay period. Trying to catch up on EVERYTHING I missed while I was with my mom in Cincy.
Just wanted to tell ya’ll thanks for all the well wishes and prayers and such and let ya’ll know that my moms is doing great. She’s got a lot of rehab and some diet changes, but she’s alive and that is all that’s important.
In Florida, Medicare, Medicare, Medicare, Romney ends Medicare as we know it! I’m a senior, on Medicare next year. You want to take way my Medicare and I will personally run you out of the country, Mittens.
MITT ROMNEY GETS MANGLED IN HIS OWN LIES (It’s a thing of beauty.)
Romney’s Obama attack gets sidetracked
——————————–
Company owner Brian Maloney, 69, agreed with Romney’s assessment. “I take umbrage at the suggestion that people don’t start and build businesses,” Maloney said. “I started out with 500 bucks and worked with my hands to afford grad school at night. My wife supported me. Started a little body shop and was able to bring together people, one at a time.”
But in an interview with Boston-based reporter Jon Keller of WBZ-TV, Maloney acknowledged that his business received some government help. “The only way I was able to come here, because I had no money, was with an industrial revenue bond,” Maloney said in the interview. Industrial revenue bonds are typically issued by local and state governments to attract new business to an area. They create low-interest loans for new development and startups.
.

In a statement, Obama campaign spokesman Lis Smith argued that the point the president was making on Friday is similar to statements Romney himself has made. “As President Obama said, ‘When we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together’ – a remark Mitt Romney himself says he agrees with on the campaign trail.” Romney took Obama’s words out of context, she said, to try to “turn it into a political attack.”
It’s indeed sad to see, Pennsylvania, the home of the great Congressman Thaddeus Stevens, one of greatest fighters for freedom, trying to out-do Alabama, Georgia, Texas and Mississippi in suppressing voters.
Yeah, I love my state!! (more accurately, it’s a commonwealth) But yeah, lately, it’s really been an embarrassment! We’ve had the ACLU, NAACP and AARP file suits regarding these hateful, regressive, racist, ageist laws that will suppress the vote.
We’re working our tails off to get people properly registered, but it’s an uphill battle. People STILL don’t know about the new law.
This is the guy who said his eight years were “awesome” He was “famous and had power”…….what baloney! Does this look like power? This looks like begging to me! How did we survive eight years with him?????
Great picture! Thanks for sharing this amk. This should be tweeted to Willard and other so called GOP leaders to show them that their past leader loved, and highly respected Moslem rulers. By the way, I don’t ever remember seeing a picture of Dubya holding Laura’s hand with such a facial expression of love and admiration that I see in this pic.
I have a feeling the Mormon church would go after alot of things. But we have to make sure they don’t get the chance. In afew months We have to send Mitt home for good, and take that Queen Ann with him. Never to be heard of again. That’s what we the people will do.
Hi TOD Night Owlers! I’m entertaining the idea of putting a new face on #CanMittMatchThis?!!! I want to keep the concept the same while avoiding direct comparison words, etc. I STILL WANT A POSITIVE SHARING OF THIS ADMINISTRATION’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS, with the obvious implication that there is no way Willard with all his uncertainties can do/has done the same. I’m thinking along the lines of a new hashtag and am asking for input. The daily focus could/would be the same. Here’s a chance for some brainstorming – what do you think?
My off-the-top suggestion = #PresOsOnTheJobGoAwayMitt …..what’s yours? Then we can vote, or use one for 2-3 weeks before changing it, all with the same intent.
i. #PresObamasOnTheJobGoAwayMitt

etc.
I really like your idea. I am not someone who comes up with ideas. I am great at following. These weeks of July I am gone so much it is hard to know what day is what. I will help with whatever idea all of you come up with!!!!
Man, that I could be so creative at the snap of my fingers! {{Purple Shoes}} You’ll definitely see some of these surfacing in the weeks ahead! Thanks, & G’nite, PS!
DEEP THOUGHT? Will Mitt Romney every pay a price for his shameless lying? Will anyone in the feckless mainstream media ask the Romney campaign why they have to edit or take President Obama’s statements out of context? The major networks were like sheep following the manufacture controversy pushed by Fox.
Rachel Maddow did another terrific segment on Mitt Romney’s pathological lying. It’s a must see. The kicker is that she shows President Obama, Elizabeth Warren and Mitt Romney saying almost the identical thing about how businesses benefit from government schools, infrastructure, internet, etc.
No problem amk. Be sure to check out my comment up thread “Romney’s Obama attack gets sidetracked’. Also, Lawrence O’Donnell played a clip from Fox where Neil Cavuto was interviewing one of the people in the ad. And as luck would have it, he said he remembered a particular teacher who inspired him. That’s exactly what President Obama said. Oops…. Will post the link when available.
This is from front page of DK piece. I thought it was a great thing to say in response to stupid.
So Democrats may be wondering how to respond to the “you didn’t build that” remark by President Obama that the Romney campaign is taking all out of context. Maybe some Democrats are complaining about being taken out of context. Well, welcome to presidential politics. Live with it.
If it were me in charge, I’d be DOUBLING DOWN. Yeah … YOU DIDN’T BUILD THAT!
Did Steve Jobs stand on an assembly line and assemble the iPod? No. Did Henry Ford attach motors to the Model T? No. Thousands of ordinary folks who get up in the morning and with calloused hands and sweaty brows…they are the ones who built those companies. Salesmen and customer service reps and repairmen and ordinary consumers. That’s who built those companies. Mitt Romney seems to think that its the team owners who win championships and not the team. He seems to think its owners whose money matters, and not the fans. Any real businessman knows you’ll never make a dime without your employees and your customers.
Mitt Romney may be on the side of owners, but me…I’m on the side of the employees and the customers. Its great for entrepreneurs and shareholders and bondholders to make money. That’s wonderful. But somebody needs to stand up on the side of people who do the not so glamorous work in this country. Mitt Romney wont. I will. That’s why I’m running for a second term as President of the United States.
It’s a numbers game when it comes to votes. I’ll take employees and customers over owners any day of the week.
Romney ” seems to think its owners whose money matters, and not the fans. Any real businessman knows you’ll never make a dime without your employees and your customers.”
This is goes to the heart of the matter of what the President was saying. If, for example, the government didn’t construct roads and interstate highways, Henry Ford’s motor cars would never have been manufacture on a large scale to allowed him to hire workers to produce more cars which ended up making him a rich man. Of course a vulture capitalist, like Mitt Romney, may not appreciate the role the larger society plays in assisting businesses who create useful products. His business is all about financial manipulations to maximize profits. Mitt’s business was never about selling a product that benefits society while at the same time making him a rich man. Mitt Romney is no Steve Jobs or Henry Ford!
Yeah, I just saw this Maddow piece. It was pretty good. That’s the thing about Rachel. She can be “sometimey” Sometimes she’s right on point, and other times, I think she’s just silly… and WAY too sarcastic.
Night guys. I’ll have to catch up in the morning. Long day today. My 3 hours in PP didn’t yield any new voters today..they were all registered already, and that’s a good thing in itself. But 3 hours………………… sucked the life out of me…..anyway, bedtime. Manana.
Insomnia. Watching Rachel Maddow again. She eviscerates the Romney campaign. They are flailing about and looking incompetent. They are flying by the seat of their pants and it’s showing. You have to wonder did they think through any of the crap they are throwing to get the attention off the tax returns. They keep shooting themselves in the foot. The problem is that Mitt Romney has nothing to offer so he comes across as a used car salesman. All they can do is edit tapes and make stuff up. They got nothin.
Oh My Gosh!! I LOVE Lisa Jackson!! She was just on the Colbert Report and in closing, Stephen asked her if she will be voting for Petunia since PBO “sided with republicans” on some smog bill. Lisa replied that all the president said that we should wait for more current research to make a decision. The research wil be out which will be out by next year. Stephen then said: “when Petunia is president.” Lisa got this look on her face where she squinted her eyes till she could barely see and squished up her face like:’what you talking ’bout fool?!’ she never says a word, just that look and everybody cracks up, even Stephen! I am still laughing and that whole scene was like 7 minutes ago!! 😆 😆
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Representative Michele Bachmann (R., Minn.) stirred controversy today by claiming that several key members of the Obama Administration had links to a shadowy extremist group called the Democratic Party.
While Representative Bachmann produced no evidence to back up her charges, she said she had proof that “members of this sinister cabal have infested the highest echelons of our government to take away our guns and replace them with gay health care.”
Representative Bachmann said that the member of the Administration with the closest ties to the organization is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton: “I have it on good authority that she is related to a former leader of the group.”
The Minnesota Congressperson’s shocking accusations drew widespread calls for her to back down, from such disparate quarters as Senator John McCain (R., Ariz.) and the National Institute of Mental Health.
This is why it was dangerous what that nutcase Bachman did, as Secretary of State was leaving Egypt someone was tossing things at her motorcade, all because they had heard that the U.S had rig their election in favor of the Brotherhood of Muslims. Now what if those people who were throwing things had guns, that crazy idiot Michele Bachmann would be responsible.
Exactly, Anniebella, that is why I think it is too dangerous for Boehner to appoint the looneytune Reps to the Intelligence Committee. Besides, don’t they have to take a vow of secrecy or something? How can they ever trust her or those that signed onto the same Conspiracy Theory to be secretive?
I just went to watch the Century Village video – President Obama can handle any situation – I loved it when someone’s phone started ringing – He made that person feel so much better – rather than embarrassed or ashamed. No wonder everyone loves him.
Also saw whatever it was from a rally for Mitt – only non-white people I saw were 2 SS guys. All the women were blonds – also too.
1st”?
congrats Roberta!
Thanks sherijr
😉
Congratulations on first, Roberta! You have fast fingers – even faster than VC, I see! 🙂
Thanks theo67, WP just told me I was posting too fast. 🙂
Hi Roberta. We’re holding hands, it seems, but your other hand crossed the line first. 😉 Congrats!
Thanks I will still share.
😆 Ta.
You’re funny, VC!
(wha-a-t)!
‘Sometimes, I just have nothing to say!’ Now, If only **I** could catch that malady. 😉
Yes, you’re Roberta. Congratulations!

Roberta! YES!
Hi
Hey VC! Are you back in Canada, yet?
No! I’m here till late Monday night, with the final leg of my journey home being Tuesday.
Travel safely – I’ll be traveling this weekend so not online too much, but I hope your journey home is uneventful. 🙂
Thanks, T! Where are you off to, not out of the country?
Nope – just up the road to San Francisco.
We usually go into Canada via Buffalo too. It’s such a great border crossing; everyone is really nice on both sides of the border. Safe travels.
Thanks, Betsy. Crossing the border into US was okay, tho slow. Let’s hope you are right about both sides of the border being nice. 😉 I’ll be very happy to get back home (I’m a home body), especially to water my poor plants that I forgot to saturate before I left.
Good luck with that.
Thanks freinds. I was already on the site when it popped up a new thread. I just opened it up. This is not always true for me. Most the time very S LO W 🙂
Rev Al just has on the woman in Oregon the married the Corporation. Chips put that on the morning thread from AddictingInfo. It was really good.
I am soooo glad that MSNBC stood up for Reverend Al.
What happened?
When you have time go to addictinginfo.org and watch this wedding ceremony to a corporaion. The Minister was just awesome. 🙂
Yeah, That’s what I’m talking about. Minister a United Methodist………John Wesley, thank you for your example many years ago for social justice.
Me too because Rev. Al and his show kick ass!
PBO up now!
Whew those ladies are frisky:))
Oh lord he likes the kisses 🙂 trouble brewing… everywhere he goes he WILL be Kissed~ count on it.
Seriously! He basically just said, bring it on!!!!
Yes he did 🙂
WOW,..these seniors of Century Village are LOVING our President. I’ve never seen senior citizens get so excited about someone who’s 20+ years younger than them 🙂
oh my mama.. at 79 sure does love her President 😉
Those excited ladies kissing PBO are accurate representations of more grandmas(like me) than you can imagine. I watched them kissing him and felt happy for them and for all of us who were there in spirit.
Hahaha.
Honey, I’m almost exactly 20 years older than PBO and when the day comes that I don’t get excited by such a fine man is the day you’ll read my obit.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! You said it best veryslowwriter 🙂
r’money does not have a lock on the older white voters. just look at those intelligent faces behind him–he’s speaking to people who care about the country, they care about the future. they’re not just trying to line their pockets by aligning with mr richie rich and miss ann-toinette. i keep reading that pbo has the hispanic vote, the black vote, the youth vote, the women vote–as if he represents the fringe somehow. the middle class, blue collar, older white american is treated as a r’money constituency. that’s a fabrication, and these florida videos prove it.
I agree with you on that one.
OMG, these women are too much!! Did I hear one of them say, “take off your shirt!”?!
Yes, these lil’ old ladies are putting us here at TOD to shame!!!
Chips and Yardarm should be shipping naughty mats to Century Village ASAP.
For real!!
I was just thinking the same thing hopefruit2. They were really wound up tonight. He has them going. Good speech.
The truck is on the way. 😆
:):):):)
Let’s hear it for o’ ladies and their private summers. 😆
One of them said “I love you.” Indeed!

Ryan Grimm over at Huffington Post is doing great work to expose Mitt Romney.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/19/mitt-romney-stocks-sensata_n_1687777.html?utm_hp_ref=politics
It is long but very detailed.
glad huffy is taking this on.
This crowd at Century Village is unbelievable – they are so enjoying our President right now.
BWD also thinks that these lil’ old ladies could use some naughty mats!!!
lol.. I saw that comment..
And he tells EVERY single group the same thing, the same thing. He doesn’t not talk about DADT or Immigration just because he’s talking to one kind of group…
He has so much respect for seniors; especially the little old ladies. Love him.
yep it seems to be mutua admiration love thing~
I wonder why you folks keep saying ‘little old’ ladies? Being a potential little old lady myself, who likes to feel she’s tall, I’m not exactly sure I feel comfortable with the label, plus it ignores the ‘little old men’ in the audience. Maybe, in future, we can transition to seniors/senior citizens/ladies/elderly ladies? Whatever, what do I know? It just feels a little odd to read the repeated references to little old ladies when so many of the ladies I saw behind the Pres looked neither little nor old TO ME.
I don’t think I used that term vc,. if I did I apologize.
🙄 VC, smarten up! Sheri, this was not meant to be directed at YOU. I just seemed to see a lot of the expression going in and out of the thread and without thinking where I was, paused to enter a general caution. At the time I was merely thinking if I were one of the ladies dropping in at TOD I might not appreciate being repeatedly referred to as a little old lady. Sorry I confused you. {{Sherijr}}
no, no- not to worry vc. I went back & checked my comments- because I would never want to offend anyone in any way- so I’m grateful you pointed this out to us- I appreciate that 🙂 (((((vc))))))
See? There are still a few decent, non-nutty Republicans left in this country
[Too bad those aren’t the ones running the disloyal opposition]
Indiana GOP Party takes down Obama punching bag
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57476061/indiana-gop-party-takes-down-obama-punching-bag/
“It was removed from the Republican Party tent at an Indiana fair AFTER some fairgoers complained”.
It should not have been there in the first place, shameful behavior. Shameful.
Shameful, tacky and very juvenile.
seriously, something definitely in the water at Century Village!!! These little old ladies are too darn much!!! Michelle will have a thing or two to say about this!!!
They are loving him and he is playing with it. 🙂
Didn’t you hear the phone go off? She already called to warn them.
We may all need to go there to retire. They’re a wild bunch!
“Use the ‘mute’ button or just fast forward the DVR … plus some of the pictures of me will be unflattering … one eye’s all droopy …. ” He is just mocking the GOP brilliantly and they are loving it!!!
“I’ve been to this rodeo before …” 😀
POTUS i do use the mute button, whenever Mitt and pals come on with their lies , I turn the tv.
Indeed!
I wonder what she hollered.. but its a kick when they crack him up too.
Okay, what did that woman say that made PBO remark that this is a ‘wild’ crowd?
Google Ann Romney “You People” and you get over billion searches, Huffy Poo has over 41k comments. Queen Anne really stepped in it.
yikes! a billion? since this morning? see we don’t have to go after miss ann-toinette and her high-horsey. she just brings it on a platter!
Didn’t Huffy Poo whitewash her comments as did Chris Cilizza?
To get an accurate count, you need to search: “Ann Romney” “You people” 38,500 results. Otherwise you get everything with the word ‘you’ and ‘people’.
“We choose you” says an audience member to President Obama!!!
These folks are too much! He just said that this crowd is kind of wild! LOVE. IT. PBO had me rollin about the negative ads the Repugs are running against him. He said just hit the Mute button or DVR forward through it to “cut through that nonsense”
That’s exactly what I do. Sometimes i just switch to another channel and try to time switching back without missing much.
“We choose you”!!!!! A fella shouts
These oldsters are a hoot! Prez need to take them on the road with him. And those KISSES. Lordy. Love it.
Yesss I enjoyed this one even more than the earlier campaign stop (which I enjoyed thoroughly)!!!
There were all kinds of videos showing Florida Seniors waiting for the Supreme Court ruling on the ACA……..they all wanted it upheld.
Hmmm…that’s Interesting, and good to know 🙂
Yes! The ones who don’t watch Fox!
That is good you found a job at federal government.
Someone should tell the Pollsters and maybe the real poll numbers for ACA will finally come out.
President Obama can everyone excited – from 9 months to 99 years….AMAZING.
It is amazing hopefruit- he shows his love of people wherever he goes.
stolen hf.
Thanks amk…I just noticed that we both forgot to add “get” everyone excited!!!
Anyway people’s brains will fill in the blanks when they read. 🙂
Tweeps will ‘get’ it. 🙂
It’s a great line btw.
Of all days, chips chooses today to post her shortest thread. I need to see this crazy crowd. 🙂
Haha…Methinks Chips is with PBO down in Florida!
Man Bruce Springsteen’s song ollowed up by Aretha Franklin NEVER gets old!!
err “followed”
I am usually not a Springsteen fan, but I have come to like that song “We Take Care of Our Own”.
But…
This is being done in a way that deserves more attention.
Hope there’s a video of that speech because we have to watch that again. Too funny!
Oh yeah – an invitation to TOD would get them (and us and Chips) going!
Watching these people at this event you feel sure that most of these people were very successful in their working lives. They are still vibrant and are engaged. And they love our President.
Neat!
Science guy Bill Nye endorses President Obama
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/19/science-guy-bill-nye-endorses-president-obama/
Damn! The grandmas definitely looooooove them some Pres. Obama. They put our naughty mat to shame!
Did you hear them? 😆
UT, did Grandma really say that? The oldies was something else tonight. FLOTUS I think next time POTUS go speak before Grandmas you might have to tag alone. 🙂
I am just kidding because I believe here tonight these people love and support President Obama. 100%.
One of the Guys responsible for that bombing of Israelis, was previously released from Guantanamo.
Under Bush, I hope???
Thank you Linda
The truth campaign about Bain Capital is working folks. The pundits don’t know squat. These were old folks and they know about Romney and his dishonesty.
Exactly. People aren’t fooled. This is not 2000 or 2004. The media will not get to decide who is elected on Nov 6.
” You People”
Kudos to Jackie Speier (D-CA). She is truly fighting the good fight!

Rep. Speier blasts ‘cancer’ of unaddressed military rapes (video of her on the House floor included in the article)
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/19/rep-speier-blasts-cancer-of-unaddressed-military-rapes/
Speier has introduced H.R. 3435, the STOP Act, which would create a new autonomous group within the military to handle the prosecution, reporting, investigation and all other aspects of a sexual assault case. Currently, those powers are exercised solely at the discretion of the unit commander.
Share the facts:
Nailed it Lisa. 🙂
Now when we hear that FLOTUS is campaigning in that area I think those women better hide out. Just kidding, just kidding.
wimmin!!! /
ducks and runs
iz vedy vedy true!!!! 😉

The President in Palm Beach-

Michael Eric Dyson is killing it on Ed Show tonight. He went after Ann Romney and her “You People” comment. Sweeeeeet!
I loved watching the President today! I miss all the pictures Chips usually posts. Hopes for later tonight. I am working 14 hours tomorrow and will miss everything.
I feel ya, proud…I gotta work 12 tomorrow 😦
do you notice that Miche never talks about PBO’s opponent? yet Mz. Money always sticks her ugly, crooked nose into politics. apparently in her GMA interview she said that Americans will “fire the coach.” she needs to shut the fuck up. She should stay her ass outta politics and leave it up to the little toddler she’s married to who thinks he can be the next president. What, when Putin pisses him off is he gonna send in the little wife to squeeze Putin’s balls? That guy is the biggest ass, only superseded by his twit of a wife. {{SMH}}
Good point lisa. FLOTUS always talks about what her hubby did, does and will do. She is a great role model.
I love you lisa, Bravo to you for what you said. Ann Romney is a rich uppity snob who think she is better than you people. But we the people will show her Nov. 6th just what we think of her and her lying husband.
FLOTUS is a 100% Class Act!
FLOTUS is a 100% class act.
Well said lisalovesobama. FLOTUS talks about the positive things President Obama has done and will continue after he is re-elected. She is such a classy lady.

Oh my gosh, he’s spending the night in West Palm Beach? Lookout, PBO!!
WPB is a well to do area! Very wealthy And mostly Democratic!
My one and only comment about polls and pollsters ….
#ADollarADayToOFA … It’s the 99% Way … #FORWARD
This is truth, Bob. The more the right pushes Romney and his lies, the more people want to dig in, work harder and donate more.
Exactly, Jackie, and #PBO knows this better than anyone 🙂

I want the people to see just what the Republicans have been doing. The people can’t sit back and blame President Obama for this economy alone. They have to see what these Republicans have been doing. Open your darn eyes American. Open your darn eyes.
The team is really swinging is the swing states, isn’t it ?
I think that the Obama campaign should send AMK to visit those Century ladies and calm them down. He could tell some of his jokes and those women would be in the palm of his hand. If not, it sure would be a lot of fun to watch. 🙂
I’ll be wearing my brick-batman suit. You betcha. Also. Too.

This evening’s West Palm Campaign Speech video is up on C-SPAN
http://www.c-spanvideo.org/program/WestPal
Enjoy! 😀 😀 😀
OMG! Sorry guys!!!
That is some DIRTY crap C-SPAN pulled! The first 4:54 seconds is of Romney shaking hands after HIS speech then they cut to PBO’s rally. Is that slimy or WHAT?!!!
Ha! http://www.coochwatch.com/
Well done, ladyTNT. How the young can even relate to the ‘republican values’ beats me.
I think you’re right about that kid and her parents. She inherited that.
Brava, lady! As FLOTUS says, “It takes one.” 🙂
firebagger crowd ?
Some guy on Ed and The Cow, she said it was a ‘friendly’ poaching from Elizabeth Warren. 🙄 that didn’t sit well with me.
ed show? You bet it’s a friggin’ firebagger.
Yet more reasons I’m disliking maddow.
The only two I REALLY want to see are Richard Wolfe and Krystal Ball. Anyone else doesn’t really excite me.

Heckle Jekyll and HIDE.
Clinton why didn’t you just say Mitt need to release tax returns and leave it at that.
Exactly. This is classic bill covering for his rich pals and mittbot by making them out as saints because they donate to their churches. Know what bill, churches are not governments and tithes are not taxes.
Maybe web should tax thew churches, eh?
Yup. The IRS should seriously start scrutinizing these religious orgs on how they violate their tax-exempt status by playing politics.
I know that it’s not popular, but I think churches SHOULD pay taxes.
He needs to go find a job and shut up.
Bingo!
I don’t even understand what was the point of this interview in the first place.
Wonderful news, lamh
That’s great to hear lamh, and welcome back. Hope you enjoy your coming days off!
Good to hear Mom is doing well Lamh

In Pennsylvania, you need a state issued ID or a US Passport. Wow, what a constrast!!
So, David Corn has another blockbuster coming out tomorrow? Good. Can’t wait to see it.
Really? GREAT!
I’m hoping for bombshell and not just “breakin news”, but I don’t expect it. I’m hoping it’s not just a Friday dump type of story.
I’m mortified by this picture.
Which one is the….? Ah, forget it.
Great pic.
Now Romney wants to go after my porn. So much for small government, eh?
Wiilard M Romney has a stupid way to try and change the subject, DI. Looky over here…PORN! Dumbshite.
LOLOLOL.
Then we can vote, or use one for 2-3 weeks before changing it, all with the same intent.
i. #PresObamasOnTheJobGoAwayMitt
ii.
iii.
iv.
etc.
I really like your idea. I am not someone who comes up with ideas. I am great at following. These weeks of July I am gone so much it is hard to know what day is what. I will help with whatever idea all of you come up with!!!!
Hope you are enjoying your summer activities, and thanks for responding.
Hmm, maybe slightly shorter hashtags perhaps VC?

My last post of the night. Good night guys!
Obama in FL: “Most kisses I’ve gotten at any campaign event”
Any linky LH?
Here ya go amk. Let me know what you think.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#48252407
Thanks LH.
Thanks LH. You and df are the two great real news aggregators here.

Lots of good points. Thanks for sharing DF.
Condense and tweet to ofa that is a good point to make
Romney ” seems to think its owners whose money matters, and not the fans.
Manana.
Go to your local Social security office and register voters before they go in!
nitey nite DF 🙂
Me 2
zzzzzzzzzzzz
Racists.
The Minnesota Congressperson’s shocking accusations drew widespread calls for her to back down, from such disparate quarters as Senator John McCain (R., Ariz.) and the National Institute of Mental Health.
http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/borowitzreport/2012/07/bachmann-claims-white-house-has-links-to-extremist-group-called-democrats.html#ixzz218IqWxug
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/07/20/florida-2/
I just went to watch the Century Village video – President Obama can handle any situation – I loved it when someone’s phone started ringing – He made that person feel so much better – rather than embarrassed or ashamed. No wonder everyone loves him.
Also saw whatever it was from a rally for Mitt – only non-white people I saw were 2 SS guys. All the women were blonds – also too.
