I love it that the TOD Family enjoys the fun and love between our POTUS and FLOTUS. Did you all see Malia telling them when to start the kiss. They are all so cute. Best president and vice president ever!!!

Totally agree with you HZ! This is one fun place to come to. I just love the way people on this site, especially the ladies, are not afraid to act human and enjoy themselves beyond politics. POTUS and FLOTUS are such fun loving people too. The same is true of VP Biden and Dr. Biden. It seems like Malia was the instigator for that kiss. She probably dared her parents to do it. From the way she looked at the monitor she was loving every moment of it. By the way, HZ, I hope all is well with you and you’re feeling much better.

      July 17, 2012 at 12:49 am

Joe Biden is one of the most authentic, down to earth, people holding public office. There is no pretentious bone in his body. He just doesn’t mind enjoying himself when ever he gets a chance. It’s as if he says: “F***k the cameras I am here to enjoy myself.” The same is true of President Obama. They both take their jobs seriously but they don’t take themselves so seriously that they miss out on having a good time whenever they can. It makes me feel good to know that we have such a healthy POTUS and VPOTUS leading our country.

I tweeted this as my contribution to the hashtag that was on twitter today about Mitt Romney and holy smokes! because it got RT’d a lot, it’s brought out the wingnuts. They’re mad that I would dare point out that Bain was about wealth creation not job creation. They are mad as hell. It makes me chuckle because it’s another sign that the Bain ads and topics Obama 2012 have brought up are really resonating with voters and that makes the wingnuts desperate. ๐Ÿ˜†

      July 17, 2012 at 12:49 am

I got a lot of attention from the wingnuts on Twitter this evening, too, ut, when I tweeted to Lawrence O’Donnell that PBO graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law and received higher honors than Romney. It was in response to Limbaugh saying that Romney should say that while he was out creating jobs, PBO was at Columbia smoking dope and drinking 40s or some such mess like that. Wingnuts were asking if PBO graduated and where I’d read it. they refused to believe that PBO was a better law student than Romney. It never ceases to amaze me how they will get behind a politician and know nothing about him/her except they like they way the pol looks/speaks. Another wingnut gave provided a link to a vile site attacking Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, using anti-semitism. He claimed Palin was smarter than DWS. In what universe does he live, I wondered.

Mitt Romney-Helmed Olympics Outsourced Uniforms To Burma (Myanmar)

For Romney, the 2002 Olympics anecdote represents another instance of outsourcing under his stewardship, as President Barack Obama’s reelection team continues to assail him for shipping jobs overseas while at private equity firm Bain Capital. It also exposes an embarrassing oversight in allowing the uniforms to be manufactured in Burma, which until just last year was controlled by a brutal military regime.

According to reports in 2002, the decision to outsource the torchbearer uniforms to Burma caused an uproar among human rights advocates and trade groups. It prompted the head of the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions (ICFTU) to write a letter to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), stating that “No responsible organization or body should make use of products originating in Burma.”

Note: Karen Finney just talked about this on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.

Mitt Romney and backers use โ€˜day-to-dayโ€™ to reshape questions about Bain

    By Callum Borchers, Globe Correspondent

In knocking down the straw man he erected, Rove compared Romney to the late Apple chief executive Steve Jobs.

โ€œWhen Steve Jobs was the CEO of Apple and took a leave of absence for medical reasons, nobody continues to say, โ€˜Well, youโ€™re the guy whoโ€™s making the day-to-day decisions,โ€™ โ€ Rove said on โ€œFox News Sunday.โ€ โ€œRomney was busy running the Olympics.โ€

Rove noted correctly that like Jobs, Romney stepped away from the day-to-day decisions of his company.

The questions now are coming from people who suspect Romneyโ€™s leave of absence resembled that of Jobs, who continued to participate in major Apple moments, such as the release of the iPad 2 and the companyโ€™s Mac Lion operating system.

This really is it. I am confident that the president can beat Mitt, but what we need is to demoralize the GOP base so they don’t show up in numbers that will threaten the Senate or maintain the House. They need to feel as if 2016 is pointless for them. It needs to be commonly accepted fact that the conservative movement is OVER.

Mitt Romney is one vile dude. At an upscale country club in Jackson, Mississippi tonight, he pointed to the waiters and told them that PBO had “let them down.” Something tells me that in a place like Jackson, Mississippi, these waiters were most likely POC. Romney picked one of the most racist states in the Union to play his latest race card. Snake.

Tell it anniebella. Your comment needs to be a tweet. This is par for the course with the Republicans and Mitt Romney. They never take responsibility for their actions. We have divided government. Both parties are responsible for governing. It infuriates me when the GOP and many in the media hammer President Obama for everything that’s wrong as if he is the only one responsible. The feckless media has been letting the Republicans off the hook from day one. And the Republicans from day one have been hostage taking, obstructing, delaying, filibustering, and sabotaging everything President Obama has tried to do.

Does the campaign have more stuff on mittbot other than bain, the pain and the tax-returns, the bomb ? I want the stupid, balloon-boy msm chasing the new shining object every other week, before the O team lowers the boom on the mittbot a week before the election.

Yes, I hate to link/ or excerpt anything from Mark Halperin…but this is what he posted this morning

Pause for two beats and pay “Prizzi’s Honor”-style homage to the ruthless killing machine that is the combined White House-Chicago operation.

They have parceled out their opposition research in a manner both strategic and tactical, selecting specific news organizations at times of their choosing to maximize the drip-drip-drip of the twin stories. They have used left-leaning Web outfits as recipients of over-the-transom gifts as effectively (cumulatively) as the Romney campaign uses Drudge. And they have seen the Boston Globe use its credibility to drive a ton of news.

The Obamans have dominated numerous consecutive news cycles since the last unemployment numbers came out. And there is more to come for sure. The Gang of 500 is confident it is just a matter of time before Romney relents and puts out additional years of tax returns, an eventuality that the Obama campaign will drag out for days. When some said that the Bain issue was burning out through its use by Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, and others in the nomination fight, Chicago was quietly confident the matter could be easily revived with new information and heavy advertising โ€” and Chicago was right. And, make no mistake, the Obamans are sitting on even more research that they will unfurl down the road.

From the President, to Joe Biden, to senior White House aides, to the entire re-elect operation โ€” there has been impressive coordination on every one of their Bain-tax return hits, and there’s no reason to think that that teamwork will stop.

Romney still hasn’t answered all the Bain questions (despite Boston pretending otherwise) and he still hasn’t satisfied the call (including from some Republicans) for his tax returns. For now, without a doubt, Romney is losing on two fronts: the politico-media dialogue is not focused on the Obama economic record and Romney is being defined by the opposition.

But Romney has not collapsed in the polls by any means, and the President remains short of the magical 50% in most surveys. Maybe Romney’s foreign trip, VP selection, and convention will organically turn the page for him in time. But there are a lot of nervous Republicans outside the campaign who don’t think that’s true. And most of those nervous Republicans would be even more nervous if they knew what Chicago was still, patiently, sitting on.

Cook: Romney letting Obama define him
By ALEXANDER BURNS | 7/17/12 6:50 AM EDT
Political prognosticator Charlie Cook, last seen accurately foreseeing doom and destruction for House Democrats, joins the chorus of analysts warning that Mitt Romney is losing control of the 2012 race:

Taken together, this ought to be a steep uphill fight for Obama. Voters seem perfectly open to the option of firing the president, but the Obama camp has given votersโ€”specifically in swing states where wall-to-wall advertising is runningโ€”reason to hesitate about hiring Romney. Puzzlingly, the Romney campaign has offered very little to build up its candidate as a real human being, someone of character whoโ€™s worthy of being entrusted with the Oval Office.

The strategic decision by the Romney campaign not to define him personallyโ€”not to inoculate him from inevitable attacksโ€”seems a perverse one. Given his campaignโ€™s ample financial resources, the decision not to run biographical or testimonial ads, in effect to do nothing to establish him as a three-dimensional person, has left him open to the inevitable attacks for his work at Bain Capital, on outsourcing, and on his investments. Itโ€™s all rather inexplicable. Aside from a single spot aired in the spring by the pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future, not one personal positive ad has been aired on Romneyโ€™s behalf. The view that any day or dollar spent on talking about anything other than the economy is a waste has been taken to such an extreme that Romney has no positive definition other than that of being a rich, successful, and presumably smart businessman. People see and feel the reasons for firing Obama every day in the economic statistics and the struggle that so many Americans face daily. The Romney campaign seems focused on reinforcing a message that hardly needs reinforcing, while ignoring a clear and immediate danger to its own candidateโ€™s electability.

Charlie Cook said this??? Go figure?

One thing Cook dies not mention is that a lot if People do not blame this President fir the Economy. It’s complicated, I think voters get that. In Cooks beltway world…

She is awesome! Now, I know why she used the word felony! To get more attention from the press.
She did not back down, wording it as a possible criminal offense!

It is absurd she was ever questioned about using the word “felony”. She simply said if he lied on SEC filings it was a federal crime. It was a reasonable hypothetical.

Plus it showed that Mitt was getting paid 100,000 dollars or more, for what if he wasn’t in charge anymore.
