I still haven’t looked at those pics from Virginia enough! Have to say I think the one where PBO is ever so gently holding the little girl’s right hand, as she is waving at him with her left, just before she reached out to hug him…. That touch of the hands so utterly describes the man: sensitive, gentle, open hearted, in awe of this little child, yet he knows how to speak directly to her… A Soul to Soul contact if ever there was one. It’s as if the entire group is lifted up, but at the same time the crowd disappears. It’s just the two of them, like old friends who have been parted, and meet once more. That’s how I see it!
I have to repost this because as usual it was just before Chips new thread.
Funny stuff…did you guys read Halperin comments?
”Barack Obama’s campaign and allies will run more negative ads against this Republican nominee than have ever been run in the history of the world.”
Ok that was in the ad….in the history of the world I tell you!!….he’s embarrassed because it makes him look so stupid, well he is but that’s not the point….it’s so over the top and false.
Halperin tweeted Sunday that he was uncomfortable with his image being used to back up a political point from the Romney campaign.
“To echo what NBC News’ Tom Brokaw said in January, when his image and voice were used in a Romney campaign TV ad, ‘I am extremely uncomfortable with the use of my personal image in this political ad. I do not want my role as a journalist compromised for political gain by any campaign,” Halperin said in a series of tweets.
Hahahha my role as a JOURNALIST…is that what he is?
Halperin is a true comedian! ” I do not want my role as a journalist compromised for political gain by any campaign,” Halperin said in a series of tweets.”. I can’t stop laughing at this!
Hopefruit, I’ve given serious thought to a retroactive “Not First” prize – but I fear if I followed that route you’d accuse me of actually working for TOD these past few years when, in fact, I wasn’t. Clearly I was retroactively not involved at all, even if my name might have been on the papers, but that was just a retroactive administrative glitch. You hear?
Mitt Romney needs you Chipsticks! Your ability to write and sound so intelligent, and convincing, without saying much is what he is lacking from his current surrogates, like Ed. Gillispie. Is there a chance that he may retroactively hire you? Any way, I hope you put principle over money because we can’t afford to loose you.
Thank you. I only get first maybe once in a while as I usually work weekdays, and everyone else gets it then. I’m usually on twitter and that’s where I see Chip’s new entries.
ChipsChica your humour knows no bounds. That video is fan frigging tastic. And to start and stop it with that cutiepie’s laughter is pure genius! Excellent. Evil. Hilarious. Genius!
You know, Jovie, Bill Clinton might have avoided the humiliation of impeachment if he had sent his surrogates to say that he retroactively had sexual relations with “that woman,” Monica Lewinsky, at the time he testified that he didn’t.
Most important show ever, imho—-The Newsroom—–now showing the Gabby Giffords shooting breaking——(all the gun culture talk leading up to this moment)——and how the networks reported she was dead—–and how someone says a dr. reports death, not a news channel trying to be FIRST. There’s just so much here—–how some get distracted by the silly and ridiculous in the news biz etc. etc. etc.—–and then this event puts all in perspective. What really matters. And what precedes, what leads to a real tragedy.
Yep. I just tweeted it would be great if we had ONE MSM channel that was interested in presenting the truth. I understand NBC News has bought out MSNBC. So we CNN is FOX Lite and MSNBC will become FOX Lite II.
Well——if my local NBC station is any indication——-I note they are in full Mitt Rescue Operation tonight. “Both sides do it”. Both sides are accusing the other of lying, insinuating that both sides are lying. And then after one snippet from Rahm, they air 3 or 4 Repubs saying that this is just President Obama trying to distract from the dismal economy and THAT is what is important in this election and that the economy is not expected to improve by election day and THAT is what will decide the election. It was fairly transparent—–like sock you in the eye transparent—-what they were doing. They don’t even try to appear the least bit objective any more. They don’t seem to care.
Sab, NBC is buying Microsoft’s 50 percent interest in the MSNBC website (i.e., MSNBC.com) for an undisclosed amount. MSNBC.com will be rebranded as NBCNews.com
It was really good but the shooting at the end really hit me in the gut. So horrible that it came to that, and how quickly people forget and move on to the next story. I just don’t understand why we can’t have sensible gun control.
Well, yes, I hate everything about guns myself. My sister is ex FBI, and I am from Chicago suburbs where the gun crime kills so many. The Newsroom had me laughing, then crying at the end with the Gabby shooting. The show is very well done.
WHAT.?! Sigorney Weaver is a repuke?! Oh Crap!! She hasn’t been vocal about it, maybe it won’t bother me enough to stop watching……. I hope… The fact that she’s never run her mouth about ObamaCare and socialism. Thank god. If she had, I couldn’t watch this show.
NO problem. I know what you meant though, I had to stop watching reruns of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ because Patricia Heaton was a raving lunatic if the fringe variety. Stupid cow. I fricking hate her guts.
“She is also not shy about her support of President Obama and her hope that he can accomplish a lot more in a second term. “I do think that if he gets four more years, it’s been so frustrating for him and for a lot of his supporters that I think he’ll just go for it.”
Hmmm, you know what? This doesn’t sound like a Republican to me:
“After making Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey, she became a supporter of The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and is now the DFGFI’s honorary chairwoman.[28] Weaver is an environmentalist. In October 2006, she drew international attention through a news conference at the start of a United Nations General Assembly policy deliberation. She outlined the widespread threat to ocean habitats posed by deep-sea trawling, an industrial method for harvesting fish. On April 8, 2008, she hosted the annual gala of the Trickle Up Program, a non-profit organization focusing on those in extreme poverty, mainly women and the disabled, in the Rainbow Room.”
I know! I can’t wait till next week! And it’s sounds like she’s gonna run against her boss!! Ooooooooo! The drama! Although I wish it wasn’t Bobby– the gay son– who was having all the problems. It just makes the story line so typical. It’s always the gay son who’s always in trouble. It would have been better if it had been the straight son who wasn’t the perfect child, whose life was falling apart. But that’s my only complaint. I love the fact that the network didn’t shy away from letting two men make out half nekid on tv!! I love it! This country has come a long way, baby!! 😆
CINCINNATI – President Barack Obama’s town hall meeting on Monday will be free and open to the public, but tickets to the event are required.
REPUBLICANS PREPARED TO PUSH BACK WHEN OBAMA VISITS
President Barack Obama will visit Cincinnati next week, and his political opponents plan to score some points of their own.
MORE
Tickets will be available Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. at the president’s campaign offices in Cheviot (3722 Harrison Ave.), Walnut Hills (2718 Woodburn Ave.) and Forest Park (1124 W. Kemper Rd., Unit 50).
Obama will discuss his vision for improving the economy, creating middle-class jobs and paying down the national debt.
“The President is going to make some important announcements, ” said state Sen. Eric Kearney. “One announcement is about tax policy and how the tax policy needs to serve and help America’s middle class.”
The event will be held in the ballroom at Music Hall, 1241 Elm Street, beginning at 2:20 p.m.
THIS. He is the President of ALL the people. He speaks from a point of truth and honesty. He will willingly have that discussion with an angry, ignorant of the facts, Republican. I would venture to say, that in the eyes of some people, THAT discussion will be even MORE important. He’s got this.
CSPAN2 BookTV is running a profile of yet another Ayn Rand devotee, Gary Ward. My God, look at the people in the crowd. I have to change channels before I puke,
Someone should ask the odious Ron Christie, if it’s fair to ask Romney whether he agreed with the Mormon teaching that it’s a sin for a white man to marry and procreate with a black woman? If, not then how did he sit in a church that preached that till he was in his thirties?
If I tweeted I would tell Ron Christie, okay Ron let’s visit Mitt Romney’s Mormon church. Where one Republican pastor who supported Rick Santorum call Mitt’s religion a cult. You want to go down that road. Mitt’s religion were a black man like Ron were thought of as being cursed. Where Mitt’s religion didn’t think very much of black people, and some say they still don’t. Mitt proved that last week where he showed that he feel all black people want is free things from the government. It is clear Ron Christie is a dam jackass.
Romney’s tax returns have direct relation to his candidacy for President. If Ron Christie wants to examine religions, then he should be prepared for that door to open both ways – the fact is, the religions of the candidates have nothing to do with their ability to run the country. Their religions may give us an insight into their characters, their world views, their perspectives on other human beings, and their agenda to bring about the end of the world (as the case may be), but there are plenty of other things for us to look at. President Obama’s tax records and his history with Rev Wright are already on the table. Mitt Romney’s tax records and history with his church are not on the table. These Republicans better think before making demands, because that’s a losing proposition.
Christie is an Idiot! Obama has released his tax records and Romney should do the same. Taxes have nothing to do with people who you associate with. If they want Rev Wright, a marine who served his country, then let’s have all the pronouncement of the Mormon Church about Black people, and the right wing wackos who support Romney, like Ted Nuggent, who thinks that the Country would have been better off if the Southern slave holders had won the Civil war. I suppose Christie would be more delighted to be serving in the role of a house slave rather than as a free man with the right to vote and the right to speak his mind as a right wing pundit. I am sick of these people who try to mix legitimate questions with illegitimate questions.
It shows you that these pundits like Ron Christie who get on tv are no smarter than we are. I don’t claim to be so smart but I do use the commom sense the good Lord gave me. So if this cock eyed fool (forgive me) want to go down that road, let’s go.
This is pure stupidity on Christie’s part and smacks of desperation. This guy’s gotten away with spewing anything from his mouth and having Repugs clap like trained seals. He doesn’t understand how the non brainwashed react to his bile. It isn’t clever or feisty to say anything foul thing that comes to your mind–it’s just plain repulsive.
Let me vent. After Repeal vote #33 last week on the ACA, I wrote an email to my rep…Ben Quayle(Asshat/AZ) This was his LYING ASS RESPONSE.Rest assured that I will be calling his office first thing tomorrow. I’m pissed! Lying sack of shit.I’m pissed. He’s so bought and paid for, it’s pathetic…Mr. ALEC member…Mr. I Pledged My Allegiance to Grover Norquist…
Thank you for contacting me about the Supreme Court’s deeply disturbing decision to uphold the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.
This unfortunate ruling jeopardizes the entire American healthcare system and sets forth a dangerous precedent that threatens the very core of our Constitution. Obamacare’s individual mandate will require all American’s to purchase health insurance or incur a tax enforced by the IRS. This disastrous 2,700 page anti-consumer legislation saddles the American people with increased taxes and an even larger national debt, all while imposing stifling regulations that cripple America’s small businesses and erode the high standard of medical care that Americans, like you, depend on.
From the start, I opposed Obamacare and voted for its full repeal. I have repeatedly voted to dismantle it piece by piece. While the Supreme Court’s ruling is certainly a disappointment, it by no means spells defeat. I assure you that my colleagues and I will redouble our efforts to see Obamacare repealed by Congress and replaced with pro-market, pro-consumer, commonsense reforms. These reforms include allowing consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines as well as supporting the creation of associated health plans, which would enable small businesses to band together in order to pool risk and pay the lower insurance rates afforded to larger businesses. I will also continue to fight for vital medical malpractice reform in order to reduce the burden faced by physicians and lower medical costs for consumers. These initiatives are just a portion of the broader solution towards making healthcare more affordable for all Americans.
Thank you again for contacting me. Please feel free to visit my website at http://www.quayle.house.gov/ and sign up for my newsletter to receive updates on the work I’m doing for Arizona’s Third Congressional District.
When I lived in a red district, I used to get two page lying letters from my Representative, too. My blood pressure would soar, and I’d be angry for days. I’d write back detailed responses, go to his office and spend ages with his staff refuting his lies… In the end, I moved to a Democratic district (Hahn’s district). I’m not suggesting that you do the same. Just that I know your pain! It seems that the GOP feel no compunction in lying through their teeth to their constituents, and betraying their oath of office. They’re reprehensible.
Seriously, theo…I actually had to walk away from the computer. I was so pissed. So pissed. You know, if he said that he didn’t agree with it on a point of policy, I wouldn’t like it, or agree, but he’s a Republican…I get it. But when he purposely LIES about this amazing piece of law,THAT pisses me off! He’s getting a phone call tomorrow…and I want to talk to the person that wrote that email to me…like I’m stupid. I actually detest this smug little SOB. I hope he loses the election he’s trying to win…the other guy is just as bad, but it would be a new jackass. I’m SO over this one.
Wish I could move…one day.Blue state, blue ocean. I’m there:) Thanks for talking me down…sort of:)
I couldn’t believe it when my Republican representative was re-elected in 2010, after doing zero for the district over the last two years. Good luck in your pushback tomorrow! 🙂
This jackass does nothing either, Absolutely nothing. I just pray that I can be respectful…it’s hard because I see none being shown to me. This was a form letter, to boot. He addressed none of the points I made in my email. He saw the email was about healthcare, and shot this stupid assed canned response to me. I can’t stand Jon Kyl, but when I sent him an email, he sent me back a letter in the mail that addressed what I asked him. Didn’t agree with him, never will, but he did me the honor of an honest response.
Yup – I’ve seen those form letters before. Somehow, it’s even more insulting. I just don’t know how these people are still getting paid. If I tried to get away with that crap at work, I’d be fired immediately.
Newsroom is the best darn show on television. Wow, both my husband and I are glued to TV every Sunday night. I can’t wait for episodes on ACA ruling by Supreme court.
I haven’t watched this episode yet, so don’t tell me:) Did you read my stupid reps response to my email I wrote complaining about repeal vote #33? He’s a real gem.
The GOP and MSM supported narrative that PBO is ‘weak’ and ‘afraid’ has always pissed me off. PBO has NEVER been afraid. I challenge the mongers to provide a single example of PBO ‘fear’. Our President has been under a constant threat from the moment he declared his candidacy. How many of them could withstand the pressure? They have thrown everything at him, including the kitchen sink. Who do you think the last man standing will be? I put $10,000 on PBO.
I can’t tell you how much I played this entire album back in the day!!! She’s an amazing artist.
They did a profile of her on TVOne’s Unsung a while back. So sad about her having two paralyzing strokes, but she is still kicking. She can talk again, though still challenged and is getting better all the time. Beautiful spirit.
I think I wore this album out, I loved it. I had NO IDEA that she was in ill health and that happened to her. When did that happen? I hope that she gets stronger and stronger…she is a beautiful spirit, and an amazing artist…just lovely. Off to watch The Newsroom….
great “deep cut” and thank you helping promote ms. bofill’s name around here. yes, the strokes were tragic and she is doing better, but her story is all too familiar to those in the entertainment business (from her wikipedia page):
“Because Ms. Bofill did not have health insurance, a benefit concert was organized to pay her hospital bills. The show, planned by Engel along with NY radio stations Kiss FM and CD 101.9, was held on March 11 at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood, NJ. Similar events were being planned for Detroit and Los Angeles, Engel said. Other aid was being sought from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation.[2]”
and god bless the obama family and all of us for getting him elected again, to try to help end this profit-driven healthcare inhumanity brought upon america by all republicans. forward!!!!
Omg!! The Firms ad just came on tv!!! It was on TV Land!! OMG,!! It was even better on tv than online!! 😆 I was shutting off my computer when I heard the words: ” My name is Barack Obama and I approve this message.” then I heard that horrible voice raised in song, then I cringed, then smiled and squealed!! Awesome!! 😆 😆
Hey Tod’sVille..I’ve been Retroactively Lurkin…LOL!
but I am Un-lurking tonight for this important announcement from none other than Beyonce:-)
Love U all!!!
Enjoy:-)
Good job:) We all do our part, however we can, All is important. Nice to see you here again.Don’t be a stranger! Hugs right back to you. Be well, dear kasai 🙂
there’s a reason olbermann isn’t doing anything right now! there are plenty of great liberal commentators who just need to be given that first chance, and they are much more valuable than this prima donna. stephanie miller and her crew, and randi rhodes for starters. they also make for “good tv” in terms of dynamic personality, entertaining, knowledgeable, and able to fiercely debate their points, yet we’re subjected to bill kristol, george will, peggy noonan, and so on who are none of the above. goes to show the billionaire owners of all the media don’t care about those things they claim to care about, and are only concerned about promoting republican ideology into people’s daily conversations and into the ballot boxes. forward!!
This the one from 2008 campaign from right after his Toot passed just before the election. I saw footage of him in the rain that night and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that we’d win! What a moment that was!
I love the way this was put together. Made me wanna get up and go out and campaign.
i’ve listed this as my favorite barack speech. i remember it well when it happened, and thank you for sharing this video!! what a perfect mixture of everything! with the rain and the context and content of what he was talking about, I’d say it was one of the great moments in modern political history, up there with some of the great fdr, mlk, jr and rfk, jr speeches we know so well today. a transcendent moment that night.
Hey yall, I am not on twitter but I am awake and was checking out David Corn time line and I stumbled across this note he left so I clicked on that person time line and found this… From willard mitt romney the free-loader getting away with goverment hand-outs
Hey, I found video of the beautiful opening theme from The Newsroom (composed by the prolific Thomas Newman)*
*Composer of Finding Nemo, The Road to Perdition, HBO’s Angels in America, The Shawshank Redemption, The Help, among other gorgeous soundtracks. I have the first 4 albums and play them often. Soul stirring music on each one.
By the way, HBO has already ordered the second season. A wise choice in my book! 🙂
that is some great acting by jeff daniels! i do have a little bit of an issue with the script though. that’s a dangerous sentiment in my opinion. it quickly leads to ron paul insanity, and the “liberals hate america” schtick. it goes against what president barack hussein obama says. i do think america is the best country. we elected barack as president for crying out loud…in a landslide!!!@ find me a society in human history that has embraced the “melting pot” idea more than america has, as evidenced by his election as our president. the embracing of everyone, from any skin tone, nationality, and economic background of course leads to extra challenges, and i’d suggest that is why it has been hard to reach higher levels on academics tests. but overall, we are the world superpower still and i’d say the best, or at least ONE of the best, at accepting and embracing people from all walks of life. forward with democrats in the house and senate!!!
We used to be the greatest, do the person who wrote that script remember us black folks and what it was like for my people in this country for so many, many years.
”i do think america is the best country. we elected barack as president for crying out loud…in a landslide!!!@ find me a society in human history that has embraced the “melting pot” idea more than america has, as evidenced by his election as our president. the embracing of everyone, from any skin tone,”
Morning everyone……..My opinion on this if you don’t mind.
The only reason that a black man named Barack Hussein Obama became President is because the previous administration and President was the worst in history, started an illegal war and mismanaged another one, crashed the economy, lost all standing in the world, etc….and Senator Obama was exceptional in so many ways, way above average, highly intelligent, had an impeccable record, etc….it says it all to me.
Lets just say that a black man not in the caliber as President Obama would have not be elected.
”the embracing of everyone, from any skin tone,”
The way this great man has been treated from the start from day one, from the ugly right to the emoprogs is very disturbing to say the least. It’s sickening.
The level of disrespect he received and still do is unprecedented.
The bar is way way way higher for him…it’s never good enough….the only reason why most emoprogs are on board now is because they are scared of Romney….They put ”holding his feet to the fire” on hold for now…
History will not be kind looking back at the way the first black President was treated.
what you say is also true in my opinion, and i’m just more focused on the longer-term context. when people such as PBO talk about “america’s greatness” i think they’re usually referring to the declaration of independence and the u.s. constitution, and how america was set-up to sort of self-correct itself over time, and also how it’s been able to rise up so fast historically speaking. so yes, the negative stuff is true, but so is the positive stuff. i feel that after PBO is done with his second term and all the immense good he and the democratically controlled congress bring, PBO will end up on mt. rushmore. as bobfr points out, we’re on the cusp of ending the american civil war once and for all with this election, and we’ll be able to close the book on that awful chapter in america’s history.
Just brilliant—-some real hurtful truths there——waged war on poverty, not poor people, aspired to intelligence, not belittled it——-we WERE informed. Now we lead the world in the most people who believe angels are real.
omg!! that is so amazing!! thank you president obama and richard cordray and elizabeth warren!! one of those damn agencies had a mortgage i had settled years earlier still listed as “open” on my report, even though the other two had it paid off years earlier. couldn’t figure out why i was having trouble getting approved for things, and then had to spend considerable time trying to figure it out, eventually realizing that one of the big three made an error. screwed up all kinds of things for me and my family!!! ever since I can’t believe how ridiculous that “credit rating” system is, and so glad to hear the big bad evil government is starting to watch over these crooks more closely now. democrats in the house and senate you all. forward!!
This is why I’ve been arguing that corporations are in cahoots with the GOP to keep unemployment high so that President Obama can be defeated. And these people have the audacity of calling themselves patriots. They would rather destroy the country just to defeat one man.
nathkatun7, I believe the exact same thing, these companies are working hand in hand with the GOP.They would sink the ship just to get the captain. They don’t care who suffer.
Bill if I were to ask you a question will you answer it? I’m sure you will, here goes, what do you expect from Morning Junk. Sam Stein isn’t worth a pile dog doo.
Anniebella, you are exactly right. It was even more ridiculous with the Democrat who works for Morgan Stanley, Harold Ford, Jr. on to add “balance”. Exactly as expected.
Inevitable! Childish campaign! It’s stupid. Their defense is always what our camp says about Him.
Yesterday, the Robney camp said that Obama is making stuff up! That is what we say about Him! Who is running their campaign anyways? Mr Rodgers?
It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day in the neighborhood, won’t you be mine!
We all knew this was coming. I was waiting for the rebuttal ad using President Obama singing. How original and creative. The problem for Mitt Romney’s campaign is once again they are following President Obama and copying him. Mitt does this all the time. They even follow President Obama around on the campaign trail in the Romney bus. They are like juveniles.
It’s ironic that Mitt Romney singing American The Beautiful came a few days after President Obama sang a few chords at the Apollo. Was that just a coincidence? Or was Mitt trying to make a statement. You know President Obama sings at the Apollo and and he sings about America. He’s the true patriot? I know, I’m over analyzing. Whatever. The bottom line is Mitt is the one who made that ad so easy. Now he is playing catchup as usual.
Let’s face it the Republican Party studied what PBO did in 2008 and they are blatantly trying to disenfranchise voters because they know they can’t win on their agenda.
Ironic Files: Remember how other candidates starting talking about ‘change’ AFTER they saw how successful it was for Obama? At the same time they were FOLLOWING his lead, they kept claiming he was ‘NOT A LEADER’.
Here’s Kevin Madden, Willard advisor, taking his turn on the Willard Rescue Operation on Morning Joe. Even Joe Klein wanted in—–he just called Willard “an honorable person”——-it’s our tax structure that’s the problem. Willard would have been SO NICE and LOVABLE and ADMIRABLE ‘cept for all those tempting tax havens.
And he paid all his taxes, so he is my hero. No he did not! If he stored his money in Switzeland and the Caymans, he was avoiding it.
Also, Joe Klein said nothing has been done for wall street reform! Bullshit. That has yet to be implemented, about 25% has been implemented, and Joe Klein is dishonest!

I just walked in the door and turned Bill Press Show on. David Schuster is hosting and has Amy ????? from The Hill. PO is losing AA vote…..”We talked to some AA’s last week and some are disappointed in him and are not sure they will support/vote this fall. He’s also having a hard time raising money…..the Super PAC just isn’t “working” for PO…….blah blah blah. Changed to my local morning show. Will return to Current when Stephanie comes on.
They are using the money to trade the stock and bond markets. They figure they can make more money with less risk. JPMorgan Chase just happened to get caught with a bad trade. To a large degree the Wall Street banks are hedge funds.
Did Romney get Amnesty for his Swiss Bank Account money ????
One reason that Wall Street does not show the president much love is that his administration and Senator Carl Levin have successfully pressed Switzerland to open its secretive banking. It would not be surprising if many of the “vilifiers” were those who can no longer hide their funds in a numbered (no-name) account in Switzerland.
President George W. Bush, on the other hand, served them well. President Clinton was close to concluding an international agreement to prevent tax havens from hiding income and wealth. When the Supreme Court installed Bush as president, he withdrew the US from that agreement.
Thanks to Bush, his wealthy friends were able to enjoy another nine years of hiding their income and forcing the rest of us to make up what they were hiding.
Many of those accounts, and the income from them, are now subject to U.S. taxation. Those who had hidden, undeclared accounts first were given until October 15, 2010, to reveal their accounts’ existence, pay the taxes they owed and a modest penalty, but are not subject to criminal prosecution.
That is, they received an amnesty.
If Romney’s tax returns revealed that he were one of those who received amnesty, he could still properly claim that “all taxes were paid, and that he complied with U.S. laws” on the basis of his not having been charged with a crime after he revealed his prior wrongdoing.
But, if it ever became known that he received amnesty, the American people would utterly reject him for two reasons: amnesty means he had been breaking the law for many years and putting extra tax burdens on honest Americans and that he was accorded special treatment only the wealthy receive.
this is a juicy bit of conjecture–and it could be the reason we’ll never see mitt’s taxes. true or not, i’m glad to see it circulating, because r-money needs to feel the heat.
I checked the 4 possibilies for Romney to hide his tax returns…
“Here are four possibilities: 1. Extremely high levels of income… 2. More offshore accounts…. 3. Politically explosive investments… 4. A very, very low tax rate.”
Reminder that Obamas on CBS———just aired another snippet and continue to stretch this gem out saying more will be in next half hour——they’re sure making the most of one interview—–stretching it out over days and multiple programs. They did just have a good follow up segment with Carville.
Hey maybe first?
Such a cute baby.
Helloooooooooooo Betsy!
Are you going for sweetness overload on us tonight. All these cute babies almost (and only ALMOST) makes me wanna go down that road again.
The operant word here is almost, eh? But let’s hear it for the process! 😆
Happy to dandle those lovely babies. Happy to hand them back again!
LOVE this, but I have to say my favorite are the pics of that little 4yr old girl reaching out for PBO. This is awesome though, love PBO’s face, LOL.
I still haven’t looked at those pics from Virginia enough! Have to say I think the one where PBO is ever so gently holding the little girl’s right hand, as she is waving at him with her left, just before she reached out to hug him…. So beautifully written Pamela. I agree. Two old souls together age is irrelevant.
Yes! Go Betsy!!
Yes you are! Good Job
🙂 I’m never sure who’s nimble fingers get there first. I guess I’m lucky it was mine this time. LOL.
Cute little baby!
a cutie for sure
First
hahahhaha…Oh well
Maybe 7th!
Or 9th!
Or 16th! Oh well, at least I am here, for a few more minutes. Hasn’t this been a very fine weekend? Yes. We. Can. Obama~Biden2012
Ha ha ha ha! This weekend’s news is SO full of irony.
Halperin is a true comedian! ” I do not want my role as a journalist compromised for political gain by any campaign,” Halperin said in a series of tweets.”. I can’t stop laughing at this!
LOL!!!!!!!! then how about you stop licking Romney’s butt all the time.
The history of the world? really? What viewer even buys such an exaggeration?!
Oh dear god, please tweet that to him!!! ROFL!!!!
Ooooooooooweeeeeeee….this from the man who slurred the President on Cable TV…
Not first. 😦
Chips, I think you need to implement a “Not First” prize – retroactively. Most of us have won many, many prizes on that front.
Meanwhile, congrats Betsy on #1!
i like the “not first’ title. We all can go with that!
Brilliant! I want dibs on the First Not-First!!! 😀
You hear?
Oh, you…. you’re so bad, you’re GOOOOOD! 🙂
HAHAHAHAHAHA! 🙂 🙂 🙂
P.S. There was a rumor that you were being paid $100K at the time – please release your tax returns so we can verify this nugget of information.
Excellent. Evil. Hilarious. Genius!
** Evil chuckle ** 😆
I love that the video began with the baby’s laugh and ended with the baby’s laugh but with an image of Pres. Obama with that famous grin.
Pure evil genius. 😉
All bill Clintin had to say was, I did not inhale, Retroactively.
End of story.!
Prospect.org headline: I Did Not Have Economic Relations With That Company
You know, Jovie, Bill Clinton might have avoided the humiliation of impeachment if he had sent his surrogates to say that he retroactively had sexual relations with “that woman,” Monica Lewinsky, at the time he testified that he didn’t.
Goodnight everyone, I love you guys.
Thank you for this haven from a hostile world Chips. Love you madly dear. LH
Thank you for all your BRILLIANT links Ladyhawke, the place wouldn’t be the same without you. Sleep well.
‘night LH!
Go see that Chimp story on Reuters!
Oh, it was sooo good tonight, and The Newsroom gets better each week.
I’m so jealous. I don’t get HBO 😦
Congrats on 1st last nite Betsy, way to go, Chips seres up the best pictures. This Beyonce video is just sweet!
Love the video.
This show is the shit!! Seriously! Sigorney Weaver is a fricking awesome actress!!
I just saw her give an Emmy-Winning performance and the pilot episode isn’t even OVER!!
I KNOW, RIGHT?!! This is so great!
I know it shouldn’t matter, but she’s a Republican.
I’m going to retract that, because I just read another article that said she’s a Democrat. So I don’t know. Please accept my apologies.
NO problem. I know what you meant though, I had to stop watching reruns of ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ because Patricia Heaton was a raving lunatic if the fringe variety. Stupid cow. I fricking hate her guts.
Yeh, I was shocked to learn about her a while back. Sheesh, that woman is definitely a hate-filled nutball.
No,she’s not, lisa.. In fact..
“She is also not shy about her support of President Obama and her hope that he can accomplish a lot more in a second term. “I do think that if he gets four more years, it’s been so frustrating for him and for a lot of his supporters that I think he’ll just go for it.”
Watch the entire interview with Sigourney Weaver above to hear more about Political Animals and how she thinks President Obama is a political animal himself.”
.
http://presspass.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/07/13/12709053-press-pass-sigourney-weaver
I met Sigouney Weaver back in the 1995 when she came into a Veg cafe on Kaua’i where I was cooking. 🙂
I think she’s “old school” Republican though — not right wing whack job like these nutballs that have hijacked the party.
I don’t mind old school republicans. It’s the psychos that now dominate the party I have a problem with.
She sounds like a Democrat to me..see above link to her interview with msnbc..”She’s not shy about supporting President Obama, either”..
It was great! I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Back to work tomorrow for most of us. I have a big project that I’m going to complete ahead on schedule……. RETROACTIVELY.
Ah shit! I don’t like that. Already I’m having visions is headlines:’President booed by public at town hall.’ this is absolute crap.
Trust him, Lisa. He knows what he’s doing.
THIS. He is the President of ALL the people. He speaks from a point of truth and honesty. He will willingly have that discussion with an angry, ignorant of the facts, Republican. I would venture to say, that in the eyes of some people, THAT discussion will be even MORE important. He’s got this.
I wanna echo what Lisa said earlier about Political Animals: THIS SHOW IS THE SHIT!!! WOWWWW!!!
CSPAN2 BookTV is running a profile of yet another Ayn Rand devotee, Gary Ward. My God, look at the people in the crowd. I have to change channels before I puke,
Oh, I trust him, it’s the rest those idiot Repugs who wil be crashing the town hall I don’t trust. Bastards. No respect for the office.
Ron_Christie: So Ds want all of Romney’s tax records. Fine. Then let’s re-visit Obama’s Chicago associates, including Rev Wright.
Seriously, what the heck is in those tax returns that they freak out like this?…
If they’re stupid enough not to realize how much it would backfire, so be it….bring it on
Ron Christie is the biggest disgrace. He isn’t worth the shit he spews.
It doesn’t even make sense……
Seriously, talk about double standard.
He is the whiniest little asswipe ever, I can’t stand him. What is he…two?
&e-ru @dvnix
Oh sweet fuck, @Ron_Christie … “Damn the United States” was apropos given the context of the sermon. Desperate for clicks/panel jobs much?
I can’t see his tweets directly because he blocked me but I can see from retweets that he’s getting some pushback.
If someone needs to explain it to him…he’s already a lost cause. I rest my case. He IS 2!
Someone should ask the odious Ron Christie, if it’s fair to ask Romney whether he agreed with the Mormon teaching that it’s a sin for a white man to marry and procreate with a black woman? If, not then how did he sit in a church that preached that till he was in his thirties?
Boom!
Christie’s probably never bothered to listen to the speech in context. He seems to be spoonfed his beliefs.
Oh look! Romney’s New Official Campaign Photo!

LOL!
Thanks for the chuckles. The comments are funny too!
Good night!
okay, kids, here comes the plate of butter!
Bwahahahahahaha!!! 🙂
with all his asshole-ishness and his millions from bleeding blue-collar workers dry, like his daddy done, that bread looks like sour-dough to me!!
Rerun of tonight’s episode of The Newsroom starting now!!
I have a sad: no HBO. 😦
What station?
HBO. It’s fabulous! Would leave you cheering….smart TV..Hi, yardarm:)
I’m awestruck, speechless at how good that show is!
Dayum! Aaron Sorkin is a fucking genius!
Fabulous, fabulous. Leave you wanting for more. BTW, who is Aaron Sorkin?
He created The West Wing. Brilliant writer.
He is THE political drama writer of our time:
A Few Good Men
The American President
Charlie Wilson’s War
The Social Network
THE WEST WING!!!
and now The Newsroom
[also Sports Night, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. Moneyball]
Rev. Wright will surely bring Mormanism into the debate, Romney doesn’t want to go there…
poor widdle middy–dems are laughing at him, and the rethugs….
Is Willard really a Billionaire? Stay tuned.
CNN Caption for NAACP story: Romney fights for Black support.
Please spare us from the CartoonNN ‘balance’.
@Stefcutter ate Kevin Maddon’s lunch. It was glorious. Mitt’s spokes models are starting to sound downright silly. The great unraveling.
Per JohnFugelsang: Mitt needs to show us his ‘Worth Certificate.’
Dem surrogates on the Sunday shows were so good, I got a tingle up my leg.
“Worth Certificate”!
Yeah, “romney fights for Black Support” by shitting on their carpet., and bragging about it later to his tea bags.
Sincerely,
Ben Quayle
Member of Congress
Yup.They’ll get my call in the morning.
Total jackass. Give ’em hell, df!
He totally is. More than you know.
Newsroom is the best darn show on television. Wow, both my husband and I are glued to TV every Sunday night. I can’t wait for episodes on ACA ruling by Supreme court.
Excellent show.
The fact is, the media and GOP have zero credibility on any topic under the sun. They’ve shown us exactly who they are.
Thought I’d share this with the fam here… let’s dedicate this to our awesome President!
I haven’t heard Angela Bofill in YEARS! I think I still have albums of hers somewhere around here:)
This one. She has an amazing voice.
Awesome!! 😆 😆
!!!!! TV Land? That’s a little odd though…
Perfect audience to see it!! People who watch TVLand VOTE!!

Microsoft breaks from NBC to launch own news portal
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/07/16/microsoft-breaks-from-nbc-to-launch-own-news-portal/
Hey, Microsoft — Keith Olbermann’s not doing anything right now!
there’s a reason olbermann isn’t doing anything right now! there are plenty of great liberal commentators who just need to be given that first chance, and they are much more valuable than this prima donna. stephanie miller and her crew, and randi rhodes for starters. they also make for “good tv” in terms of dynamic personality, entertaining, knowledgeable, and able to fiercely debate their points, yet we’re subjected to bill kristol, george will, peggy noonan, and so on who are none of the above. goes to show the billionaire owners of all the media don’t care about those things they claim to care about, and are only concerned about promoting republican ideology into people’s daily conversations and into the ballot boxes. forward!!
I don’t know if this video has already been posted on this site:
It’s from Rain day in Virginia. Someone added background music and stills to parts of PBO speech in the Rain. Very emotional
Oh. Too bad. We need more of these
Hey yall, I am not on twitter but I am awake and was checking out David Corn time line and I stumbled across this note he left so I clicked on that person time line and found this… From willard mitt romney the free-loader getting away with goverment hand-outs
Rossssc@rossssc
@DavidCornDC~~~Mitt Romney May Be Finished: http://youtu.be/5yR_Mn4Skt4
Good thought, but the Kochs will not give up their boy that easily.
Oh by the way, this is why there’s gonna be a second season…
That was so serious awesomeness. Serious awesomeness!
So serious? SOME SERIOUS! It’s late!
that is some great acting by jeff daniels! i do have a little bit of an issue with the script though. that’s a dangerous sentiment in my opinion. it quickly leads to ron paul insanity, and the “liberals hate america” schtick. it goes against what president barack hussein obama says. i do think america is the best country. we elected barack as president for crying out loud…in a landslide!!!@ find me a society in human history that has embraced the “melting pot” idea more than america has, as evidenced by his election as our president. the embracing of everyone, from any skin tone, nationality, and economic background of course leads to extra challenges, and i’d suggest that is why it has been hard to reach higher levels on academics tests. but overall, we are the world superpower still and i’d say the best, or at least ONE of the best, at accepting and embracing people from all walks of life. forward with democrats in the house and senate!!!
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You, CFPB!

Credit bureaus to get federal oversight for first time
omg!! that is so amazing!! thank you president obama and richard cordray and elizabeth warren!! one of those damn agencies had a mortgage i had settled years earlier still listed as “open” on my report, even though the other two had it paid off years earlier. couldn’t figure out why i was having trouble getting approved for things, and then had to spend considerable time trying to figure it out, eventually realizing that one of the big three made an error. screwed up all kinds of things for me and my family!!! ever since I can’t believe how ridiculous that “credit rating” system is, and so glad to hear the big bad evil government is starting to watch over these crooks more closely now. democrats in the house and senate you all. forward!!
It’s more than we thought…

This is why I’ve been arguing that corporations are in cahoots with the GOP to keep unemployment high so that President Obama can be defeated. And these people have the audacity of calling themselves patriots. They would rather destroy the country just to defeat one man.
nathkatun7, I believe the exact same thing, these companies are working hand in hand with the GOP.They would sink the ship just to get the captain. They don’t care who suffer.
Mitt/witt lies revealed.

Morning Joe opens with Dan Senor defending “retroactive retirement” by saying PBO is dishonest. No real pushback.
Sam Stein is now offering a weak defense for the attack on Willard and Bain.
The talking point I am catching from the right is their is No difference between the two candidates. OMG! Yeah right!
Of course, Kevin Madden coming right up on Morning Joe. Of Course!
Here is Mitts ad of our President Obama singing . . . LOOOOOSER
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/new-romney-video-uses-footage-of-obama-singing
PRESIDENT OBAMA LEADS AND MITT ROMNEY FOLLOWS
How does Joe Klein know if Mitt is an honorable man. Was he a fly on the wall in board meetings and the quiet rooms.
These people are silly.
Yes very honorable to be a pathological liar, war mongering draft dodger, animal abuser, gay basher, vulture capitalist, tax evader, etc…
Can’t be more honorable than this!
Agreed. The talking heads keep saying the ‘KNOW’ Mitt-the-Liar has done absolutely nothing CRIMINAL. Bullshit. We don’t know anything of the sort.

Romney tells Fox he won’t release more tax returns because it’ll provide fodder for “the Obama opposition research team to pick over.”
Yea yea like when he destroyed his records after his term as governor….always the same BS excuse…
Scarborough ” It makes me sad that the Obama campaign hate that song, they’ll burn the american flag next”…
He said that in jest. Everyone knows that ad is devastating.

Abc news-Wa Post poll says The President is losing votes because of his race.
No! Really? How riveting! I did not know that! LOL!
The media is desperately and foolishly trying to change the subject once again. It’s not going to work – NOT THIS TIME.
Willard wants to change the subject – and FAST…
How predictable is his team. First the ad with PBO singing in response to the Firms ad, now rumors of the veep pick. 🙄 what an idiot.
GOOD. This will give Dems 4 months to wreck them both..
Citigroup Only made 18.5 billion last quarter. So, why aren’t they lending?
But, if it ever became known that he received amnesty, the American people would utterly reject him for two reasons: amnesty means he had been breaking the law for many years and putting extra tax burdens on honest Americans and that he was accorded special treatment only the wealthy receive.

from Huffington Post
this is a juicy bit of conjecture–and it could be the reason we’ll never see mitt’s taxes. true or not, i’m glad to see it circulating, because r-money needs to feel the heat.
I checked the 4 possibilies for Romney to hide his tax returns…
“Here are four possibilities: 1. Extremely high levels of income… 2. More offshore accounts…. 3. Politically explosive investments… 4. A very, very low tax rate.”
All 4 I’m sure!
They think we’re stupid.
He’s an honorable man as Joe Klein said……puke!
Reminder that Obamas on CBS———just aired another snippet and continue to stretch this gem out saying more will be in next half hour——they’re sure making the most of one interview—–stretching it out over days and multiple programs. They did just have a good follow up segment with Carville.
Oh darn I missed the first part! Anyway thanks for the reminder dotster. 🙂
