Common belief is that children have a short attention span, yet we often see so many listening intently to this President. Good modeling for some Repub senators. 😉

As the president was working the rope line, he consoled a crying woman who was telling him a story. Pool reached the woman, Stephanie Miller, by phone and got these details.

Ms. Miller said her sister, Kelly Hines, died from colon cancer four years ago because she could not afford proper health insurance. She had no employer-provided coverage

“Even after she was diagnosed with cancer, she was told her income was too high for Medicaid,” Ms. Miller said.

“I thanked him for the getting the Affordable Health Act passed,” she said.

Disgruntled husband walked into the office here and said to me, “If we’re looking for someone to break up the United States and sell off the pieces, Romney is the man.” He’s been reading about RomneyMitt for days now ( in between working on our orchard’s irrigation system–many problems, still). It’s no wonder his blood pressure is up. Min, on the other hand, has steadied to about 10 points above normal.

    • July 5, 2012 at 7:58 pm

I had to post this on my FB page. I usually hide my post from my more conservative co-workers, but this one I posted for everyone to see with the headline “There by the grace of God goes I…”

Because sometimes I think that is the main problem with alot of the opponents of the ACA. Through partisanship or just lack of empathy, they just refuse or don’t want to admit that we don’t know what the future holds and call it karma, call it God or call it the unpredictabiligy of nature, but we never the rich of today can always be the paupers of tomorrow.

PARMA, Ohio — At an unscheduled stop at Ziggy’s Pub and Restaurant, an Amherst, OH bar, President Barack Obama suggested that the channel be changed when he was made aware that televisions were showing Fox News.
Obama and Fox News have gone to war frequently during his three and a half years in office — most recently over a teaser shown on Fox and Friends that the White House interpreted to be a Fox News-sponsored attack ad on the president.
The White House frequently used the network as a proxy punching bag for their Republican opponents in the early years of his presidency. Fox’s personality fired back with more and more incendiary comments, but a somewhat delicate balanced was reached after the 2010 election in which both sides toned down their rhetoric.
The exchange, per pooler Mark Landler:

As he thanked the group for their support, one of them, Jeff Hawks, gestured to one of the TV’s and said, “You’re in a building that has Fox news on.”
Obama suggested that Hawks ask for it to be changed. “The customer is always right,” he said.

    • 62 utaustinliberal
      July 5, 2012 at 7:41 pm

Addendum: “I’ll arm-wrestle you for your vote,” Hawks said to Obama. “No, I’ll play basketball for your vote,” he replied.

Border patrol mistakenly detains 96-year-old former AZ governor

Border Patrol agents successfully detained 96 year-old former Arizona Governor Raul H. Castro for over a half an hour last month after his pacemaker triggered a radiation sensor, according to azcentral.com.

Castro said he was travelling to Tucson, Arizona on June 12 to celebrate his birthday when a sensor at a checkpoint 25 miles from the Mexican border picked something up from his pacemaker. Border Patrol agents sent Castro to another inspection area where, according to Castro, they questioned him in the scorching summer heat for around 45 minutes before determining he wasn’t a serious threat. Castro had undergone a procedure on his heart and pacemaker the previous day and, he told MSNBC, he believes that’s why he set off the sensor.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials confirmed the incident, but said in a statement that Castro was only detained for precisely 10 minutes. “As required by policy, agents must identify and resolve all sources of radiation, regardless of the circumstances,” the agency said.

Anne Doan, a friend of Castro’s who was with him that day, was so upset with the treatment of the former governor that she criticized the agents involved in a letter to Nogales International, Castro’s hometown newspaper. “I was helpless and overwhelmed by the incident. I felt the agents had no regard for the governor’s background or age or physical condition,” she wrote. “I was embarrassed as I watched the governor being needlessly treated like a nuclear threat, especially because they knew he had just had a treatment at Tucson Heart Hospital the day before.”

Doan also wrote that Castro was forced to wait outside in a tent despite pleas that, due to the extreme heat and his frail condition, he be allowed to wait inside an air conditioned car. The Mexican-born Castro governed Arizona from 1975-1977, and also served as a U.S. ambassador to Bolivia, Argentina and El Salvador in his career.

Romney supporter gags protester with handkerchief at Ohio rally

A Mitt Romney supporter literally silenced a chanting protester during a rally in Ohio today for the Republican presidential candidate by shoving a handkerchief into the heckler’s mouth.

Romney was at a strip mall in Parma, Ohio with Louisianna Governor Bobby Jindal (R) and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty for a normal stump event in the crucial swing state. Yet the routine event was overshadowed when a small scuffle erupted as Pawlenty—who is often mentioned as a possible Romney running mate—took the stage to deliver his remarks. A group of people drowned out the former governor with chants of, “Pawlenty go home,” prompting retaliatory shouting and shoving from the Romney supporters in attendance.

At one point, Romney supporter Richard Brysac tried to quiet protester Al Neal by pouring a bottle of water in his mouth. When that didn’t work, he instead balled up a handkerchief and stuffed it in Neal’s mouth, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer….[more in the the article]

Why We Can’t Have Nice Things: WA Unions Turn Their Backs On Progressive Friends

…It’s systemic. This week we learned that the DCCC (which has a long and unfortunate history when it comes to electing Blue Dogs) has been sending millions in campaign to the same 17 Democratic bozos who voted to hold Eric Holder in contempt in the face of the GOP’s latest fake scandal, the “Fast and Furious” scam. And they’re going to keep doing so. Because there really is no such thing as party discipline among Democrats. Thanks to outfits like the DCCC.

However, the next time you hear labor leaders bemoaning the lack of leadership in Congress, just point out this race to them. When the unions act like the DCCC, they have no one to blame but themselves.”

    51-pound tumor removed from woman
She waited to become eligible for medicare before seeking treatment!!

New Jersey surgeons removed a rapidly growing, 51-pound cancerous tumor from a woman who had delayed treatment for more than a month until she became eligible for health insurance, her doctor said on Tuesday.

“She was a skinny lady with a huge belly. I mean it looked like she was literally pregnant with triplets,” said Dr. David Dupree, who led the surgery on the 65-year-old woman, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, N.J.

“She was just all belly,” he said in describing his first meeting with the patient, a homemaker from nearby Union Beach, N.J., who asked to be identified only as Evelyn, her first name.

About six to eight weeks before she showed up at the hospital, Evelyn noticed discomfort in her abdomen and that her normally 120-pound frame was rapidly ballooning. Dupree said she sought medical help on June 4, just days after her 65th birthday, when she would qualify for Medicare.

“The reason she didn’t go earlier was because she had no insurance,” he said.

By now, she weighed more than 170 pounds, her legs were swollen with trapped blood, she was badly dehydrated, and, scans showed, the tumor – a malignant sarcoma – was crushing her inferior vena cava, one of the main veins returning blood to the heart, and putting her life in danger… [more in the article]

Just amazing that McChinless-Turtle lips says we have the best healthcare system in the world. The doctor stated that he would have treated her without having insurance, well that’s the problem! The Hospital and Corporation that bills for his services would hound that woman for payment, she would have lost her home because you can’t sell you home while you are recouperating from uterine cancer treatment. If this woman was 64yrs old or younger she would be dead just like the sister of the lady hugging PBO thanking him for ObamaCares.

Great speech! I luv the campaign song from Springsteen, “We Take Care of Our Own”. It creates a real trademark for the campaign. I worked in the Clinton first campaign in ’92 and the song “Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow” became a trademark. I really hope the encounter with the woman thanking PBO for passing Healthcare, whose uninsured sister died, gets headlined. PBO can’t mention “middle class” too many times.

I heard alittle about Ann Romney complaining about the Obama campaign going after her Mitt. I know the media have to be nice to Ann Romney, well I don’t. She is full of alot of crap. If anyone can get on tv and complain about how their husband have been treated, it’s Michelle Obama, even when Donald Trump, Mitt’s new buddy were running around saying that Barack Obama was not born in this country, Michelle held her peace. Even when her husband were being disrespect, call racists names, she held her peace. Ann Romney husband have lied over and over again about President Obama, have you seen Michelle sitting up there next to her husband complaining? As I said the media won’t call Ann Romney for what she is, but I will. She’s a uppity lying snob who think the WH belong to her husband.

Don’t know much about Annie Oopsly’s history. Did she meet Pittiful at school? Was theirs an arranged Mormon marriage? Is she another $arah Payem, no there, there. The few times I’ve heard her she’s come off as airhead to me. I think they are worried about her and only let her out when she’s with Pittiful. Even then, she called his dad crazy, which is precisely what lost him his election. He started acting crazy. Now we know, thanks to the horse whisperer, that he actually was crazy. I don’t think either of them have much depth.

That’s exactly how the tax issue should be framed.

O/T sorry…but this was really something to watch…the return of a family to their home that the Waldo fire in CO burned down…and the talk of climate change.

Unsealed Ballot Bags in WI Recall’s State Senate ‘Recount’ Suggest Fraud, Charge Republicans

Now they’re concerned about unsealed ballots bags? Really?! Good! But where were they last year?

On the night of Wisconsin’s historic June 5th recall elections, The BRAD BLOG detailed how Scott Walker’s “win,” as reported by the media that night, was completely unverified by any actual human beings to be accurate in any way, shape, or form. Though voters across the state mostly used verifiable hand-marked paper ballots to vote, we explained, almost none of them are actually checked by anybody afterwards to make sure the oft-failed, easily-manipulated computer tabulator systems used across the state actually tallied the results accurately.

That was particularly important given the very same machines used in the Wisconsin recalls had, in other states in the very recent past, tallied results inaccurately (for example, check out what happened in Palm Beach County, FL, just this past March, when the very same system used to tally ballots in Waukesha County, WI, were discovered, thanks to a post-election hand count spot-check, to have named several losing candidates to be the “winners” in several municipal elections.)

The lack of verification of any of the ballots was even more disturbing given the fact that all reports by the mainstream media at the close of polls on Election Night had declared the Gubernatorial recall race to be a “dead heat,” as based on raw Exit Polling data that the MSM are allowed to review throughout the day.

The next morning, after John Lehman, the Democratic challenger in the state Senate’s District 21 recall election against incumbent Republican Van Wanggaard, declared premature “victory” with just under an 800-vote margin, we opined that Wanggaard should demand a full hand count of all paper ballots, and that Lehman should agree to one in order to assure the person with the most votes was actually the one declared the winner of the race. After all, majority control of the state Senate was hanging in the balance and, in any case, as in the other recall races that day, voters deserve to know for certain who lost and who won any such election, at least if we are to ever see legitimate Constitutional self-governance in this country…

Thank you for posting this, Dudette. The Walker victory stunk to high heaven since it defied all the exit poll predictions and was declared before votes were even counted. Only in the US do exit polls mean nothing, when they’re predictive in every other country. Each of us has to become an ‘expert’ in our own state’s elections and that includes training as poll watchers or recruiting others for the training. And, please, please study the voter registration laws in your state–especially the ones with new voter suppression laws. In PA, the GOP -led state house built in a safeguard for their own base by making it possible to vote absentee without a photo ID. For that, you only need the last four digits of your SS#. Make sure every voter you encounter who does not have a photo ID, is encouraged to vote absentee. Newly registered voters still have to get a DMV issued voter ID if they have no other valid ID, but this is is a far lesser number than the whole of those without photo IDs. Other states may have their own little “get out of jail” wrinkles. Read and ask. We’re going to have to fight every step of the way between now and November 6 and that day will be a battle royal as we make sure people get to the polls and vote. We have to be armed with training and armed with facts.

I guess I don’t know what this means. Is the GOP questioning the Dem who won the Senate seat? Were these ballots NOT COUNTED or just not handled properly?

She has MS, yes…she had breast cancer, ok……she receive the best care that money can buy…..ok for the personal part.

but…She’s been through so much professionally?…what does it mean?….

    • July 5, 2012 at 9:58 pm

      What is her profession?

Annie is an asset to the campaign. PBO’s campaign, that is. Every time she opens her mouth she puts her foot in it. I think she thought this would be a shoe-in. She and Pittiful didn’t think they’d actually have to work in order to have ‘their turn’ at the presidency. She seems very shallow and not use to life outside of the comforts of her own home. Well that is except for when she goes to the closet to pick out something to dressage her ‘my little pony’.

@SnarkKnoller is missing in action and causing concern. I’ve found three different tweets questioning his/her silence/disappearance. Anyone heard anything I might have missed? Wonder if s/he got the same treatment like that Williams guy on FOX?
