Hey Rikyrah, I see you are like me – when someone shares a good video, I also check out some of the ones that show up with it! After I watched Kasai’s offering I also enjoyed a few others, looking for the pic when Malia looked so mature in that striped blouse and dark skirt, etc. I found it too. Man, I love these Obamas – any of them, all of them. /Sigh of pure pleasure/

    Has Pres. Obama spoken yet?

  7. July 4, 2012 at 6:12 pm

I haven’t been able to watch a single YouTube video since I’ve been in Shanghai. So excited that the WhiteHouse live link is working. As always, thanks Chips. And Happy 4th everyone! Don’t know what I would have done these past couple of weeks without your insights, humor, observations, wisdom, comradeship, persistence, snark and love for our president and first family.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Consumer Product Safety Commission has approved new federal mandatory safety standards for children’s play yards.

The requirements will include latches and locks that keep the play yard from folding on a child when it’s in use and minimum height requirements so children can’t get out on their own.

The play yards will have to be tested to ensure they’re stable and that a child can’t be trapped by an accessory attachment, in a flimsy floor or a top rail that folds down.

The CPSC says it’s received reports of more than 2,100 incidents involving play yards, including 60 fatalities and 170 injuries, between November 2007 and December 2011.

The new standards go into effect six months after the final rule is published in the Federal Register.

I love seeing PBO work the rope line. Did you see him pick up that little girl twice? So cute. She must have asked him for another hug.

TeaNN didn’t even cover the President speaking few minutes ago, how about that?

    • July 4, 2012 at 6:45 pm

Every time I check that station, Willard is on the screen there. CNN couldn’t get enough of Willard vacay and parade photos. Hey CNN!—what about the President of the United States? Can’t be bothered? You are really dumb, CNN. Fox viewers aren’t leaving Fox to watch you. Your ratings will continue to tumble, as you lose all credibility with the high information voters.

I’m not sure what went on there. First I got a bit of the band playing, then nothing, then a message that it was over. i was on the WH site using it as background info while I read here and there. Kinda weird.

        • July 4, 2012 at 7:07 pm

Aw, poor VC 😦 So you missed the President singing all of ‘What a wonderful world’, with Michelle joining in, before they both broke in to ‘Call me maybe’? Flip.

            July 4, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Flip is right, but I know my friend Chips will have taped the entire duet, so I`m not too worried. Taped is the next best thing to live, I believe. The Obamas didn`t happen to do a final quintet to wrap up, did they? THAT would be double Flip! Say it ain’t so. 😦

Everyone wants their kid to connect with President Obama—-shake hands, hold them. I see Pete Souza there snapping away. I am expecting some great photos. Michelle was very patriotic in her great red, white and blue outfit and leading the applause. I love President Obama in the navy polo style shirt—much better than that blue checked number, which may have finally retired. It served him well and long. I like that there is always music playing at all the WH gatherings. It’s key to any gathering. Hope weather cooperates for the fireworks and program later.

I live in Salem, Or. At the Walgreen’s drug store nearby there are electric rechargers for your car. They are all over time. The future is here in Oregon.

“….. on the days we were together, time would glide. Most of the day I’d see him, and his smile. I’d hear his conversation and his silence.”

Gorgeous, Edwina. What a brave decision by him, considering the area he works in. It truly seems like PBO’s words have inspired so many. Yet more historical change I believe in.

Yes he has, edwina! Thank you for sharing the story. Let us hope the day will soon arrive when it doesn’t take courage to tell the world of one’s love of another, but rather that everyone has become courageously open and accepting of each person’s right to love, unbounded.

Lawd my #2 loved him and thought every word he wrote was to her. She has gone to every one of his concerts, met his manager, and tour manager, even his booking agent. She doesn’t stalk him, but her dream is to work for that organization. I just got off the phone with her, poor thing. She’s proud of him for coming out, but devastated at what she calls a personal lost.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57466477/fla-lifeguard-aids-drowning-man-gets-fired/?tag=stack

I hope a door just opened for this lifeguard. He was getting screwed…and there’s that “outsourcing” thing again:) Good for the guards.Hope they find a job where they will be appreciated.

    • July 4, 2012 at 8:20 pm

What about the pay- $8.25/(entry level) for the 4 lifeguards, and a supervisor year round, plus park pools around the city. The bulk of That $334,000.00 must be paid to the top. I hope the city steps in on this, and reassigns that contract. I could see if he left his area unsupervised because there was no one. But according to the article other lifeguards watched over his stretch of beach while he used his judgement, good heart and ethics to actually help save a life elsewhere.
