On that First, congrats Proud! Now I really gotta get going! Hope the natural fireworks do not interfere with the manmade ones tonight in our nations’ capitol! Have fun anyway!

Pamela, are you aware that you haven’t sat down for a conversation here (with kitty on your lap) and a cup of tea in your hand for quite a while now? These days you are always saying hi and running off before you can be harassed properly! What kind of a strategy is that?

Oh, I am bloody well aware of that, my dear protectoress and friend, VC. More potently, my poor kitty is feeling beyond neglected, she is such a dear little 14 pound Maine Coon. Looks so so so sad when I leave the house every day. But! As we all know, a cat feels most loved when she has someone to ignore, or to bestow her affection upon at her own choosing. We used to have a bunny rabbit, as well, and they were good buds. Bunny died a long time ago, and it was not possible to replace her. We tried another kitten, but that was a bad idea, or so we were ‘told’… By aforementioned 14 pound Maine Coon! I am doing my best, but my poor dear lady is in a bad way, lots of unmanageable pain, does not like to be alone.. I have brought in extra help, but it does not really ease up my schedule much. W may lose her soon, then I will have more time than I care for, or can afford! See? Love you, VC, {{{{{{{{{VC}}}}}}}}}!

{{{{Pamela}}} I don’t wish your dear lady any harm, and hope that her pain will be more bearable so she can better appreciate the company she has/gets.

I have a kiddie pool that I usually set up for the grandkids. Of course my perennials attacked me as I was cleaning out the area to place the pool. Well, now the grandkids are gone to N. Dak for a few weeks. Would it look really odd for me to just get in the kiddie pool without the excuse of having the kids out there with me? It holds 2 adults and 3 small kids, or 3 adults. I’m thinking I’m going to throw caution to the wind and give the neighbors something to talk about. The only thing is, it’s too hot to fill the pool, or to go out to the yard to get in it. It’s so hot that the sun is sweating.

      July 4, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Nah, CM, it won’t look odd. If any neighbours are nosy enough to ask what you are doing in the pool, just tell them you are making sure there are no kids hiding in the pool and that it’s in good shape for the grandkids’ return. You can even invite them to help you in those important tasks.

Only odd if you fail to put on a bathing suit.

      July 4, 2012 at 6:12 pm

If you get into that kiddie pool, there’s only one thing I’d advise that you not do. Don’t tell the grandkids! They’ll say you’re trying to takeover their pool!! Until the neighbors begin paying your bills, ignore them. LOL My daughter said something to me the other day about caring what other people say/think about me. I asked her if she’d ever known me to care. She said no. The way I see it, other people don’t pay my bills. I’m a strange duck when it comes to NOT being overly concerned about what others say/think about me.

Great cartoon by Sack. I wish somebody would ask conservatives why exactly are they rejecting their own idea. Besides the obvious reason.

    Good afternoon TOD.

Just sitting here enjoying the last day of my 7 off then it’s back to work tomorrow for my 7 on. So I’m watching a Superman marathon on one of the movie channels. I’m officially ready for a new Superman movie.

They are showing all 4 superman movies with Christopher reeves. Man special effects sure were “primitive” back then huh.

Btw, is it bad that I actually like the one where Superman goes all bad Superman? It’s actually the only thing good about the 3rd one other than Richard Pryor?

    • July 4, 2012 at 5:17 pm

The new Superman movie is coming out next year. He faces the Destroyer from Krypton.

        July 4, 2012 at 5:53 pm

Yep. I saw pictures of the new Superman guy Henry Cavill from the set last year I think. He looked good! No one can replace Christopher Reeves in my teenaged heart, but this new Superman is “big”. Reeves was tall and as muscular as they were back in the day, but this new dude seems huge. I’m talking Hugh Jackman Wolverine huge.

        Here he is on set.

  9. July 4, 2012 at 5:14 pm

Sen. Patrick Leahy seems to be an official part of the Caped Crusader franchise now. In “The Dark Knight Rises,” opening July 20, the Vermont Democrat has his fourth cameo in the “Batman” movie series.

Remember the last time, when he actually traded dialogue with Heath Ledger as the Joker in 2008’s “The Dark Knight”? (Leahy, as a gentleman at a party raided by the bad guys: “We’re not intimidated by you thugs.”) Well, the right people must have been impressed, because they gave the lifelong “Batman” fanatic another speaking role. His spokeswoman, Carolyn Dwyer, would give us no spoilers other than that it’s in a scene filmed last summer with stars Christian Bale and Morgan Freeman

Did you all see Nathan’s BIG hot dog eating contest??!? Come on people, YOU TO CAN ASPIRE to such lofty feats!!! (Personally I like to eat my hot dogs a little slower with lots of yummy toppings and, well two is enough for me and 65 just seems….seems….but that’s just me.)

    Hope everyone is enjoying the 4th – except #EtchASketchMitt & his #KOCHSTER, #NEOCONSTER buds ….

Fun – yesterday rather late pm when I posted this URL the views were only 116 … now, almost 500 🙂 Suspect ol’ #EtchASketchMitt will do everything he can to erase it (like already happened on the #Newts PAC website where it originally appeared):

For those of you with the tools, suggest you copy and cache it – it’ll continue to be valuable right through 6 Nov.

Bob…this one is brutal. I don’t know how to save for safe keeping…I don’t even know what the hell a “cache” means…I just know that I hope someone is keeping all “Mitt’s Greatest Hits” for future reference:) Crap on a crutch, this guy is a trip! Not in a GOOD way!

Copied it too Bob, if you use Firefox there’s a terrific add-on – DownloadHelper – that lets you copy any YouTube video (and some other formats). Keep up the BRILLIANT work! 😉

I LOVE TOD for the inspiration, comradeship, laughter, insights, wisdom…and now for a work-related tool. THX for all Chips (and everyone) and 4th of July greetings from Shanghai. Can’t wait to get back home.

It’s really excellent Bob, makes it so easy. It doesn’t work with a lot of embedded videos, but is perfect for YouTube and a few other sites. Happy downloading!

      Hi Bob

I used a tool called Keepvid.com and was able to save a copy of the video to my hard drive. If in the future it needs to be posted to the web, just let me know and I can upload my copy to youtube.

Fantastic Linda!! I’ve provided ‘hints’ to Axelrod, Cutter and others that they certainly need to be sure they archive these vids, as well 🙂

If, somehow, #BainMitt is able to force folk to remove it from their YouTube Accounts, I’ll certainly create one and request a copy of the vid from you.

Hope you are enjoying your 4th!

WASHINGTON — It’s the kind of trip President Barack Obama relishes — one that plays to his natural political abilities by taking him outside of Washington to mix it up with Americans in small towns and casual settings.

Obama embarks Thursday on his first bus tour of the 2012 campaign as he seeks to pointedly stir up more questions about rival Mitt Romney’s business record and subtly contrast himself with a Republican opponent who has struggled to connect with voters.

Dubbed the “Betting on America” tour, the two-day swing will take him through several northern Ohio communities that were critical to his 2008 win in the state and then to Pennsylvania for an event in Pittsburgh. Obama won both states four years ago but Romney and Republicans are competing hard to win them. The president will campaign in the both states as the nation’s latest monthly job-creation assessment is released. Each state had an unemployment rate of 7.3 percent in May, below the national average of 8.2 percent.

He doesn’t have to because he’ll get Illinois anyway, but I do wish he’d bring the bus tour through northern Illinois. Heck, I’d even be happy with southern Wisconsin – I’m only 10/15 minutes from the border.

The Fright Wing unfairly calls people getting food stamps or other assistance “freeloaders” but I guess “freeloading” is okay to them as long as you’re a freeloader in the health care system.

Mitt Romney has given every publication in America an obligation to explain how the mandates in RomneyCare and ObamaCare are the same.

Leave it to Romney to find the perfect issue to highlight his hypocrisy on health care and remind people what he did in Massachusetts.
