I like Edward John Francis Meagher. It comes thru the video. He’s down to earth, grateful, compassionate and probably a really cool pop-pop!! Oh yeah, and an EXCELLENT spokesperson for Pres. Obama.

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/04/1105862/-Robert-Reich-Mitt-Romney-IS-the-Economic-Crisis

The biggest players in this system have, like Romney, made their profits placing big bets with other people’s money. If the bets go well, the players make out like bandits. If they go badly, the burden lands on average workers and taxpayers.
    * * *

The fortunes raked in by financial dealmakers depend on special goodies baked into the tax code such as ā€œcarried interest,ā€ which allows Romney and other partners in private-equity firms (as well as in many venture-capital and hedge funds) to treat their incomes as capital gains taxed at a maximum of
15 percent. This is how Romney managed to pay an average of 14 percent on more than $42 million of combined income in 2010 and 2011. But the carried-interest loophole makes no economic sense. Conservatives try to justify the tax code’s generous preference for capital gains as a reward to risk-takers—but Romney and other private-equity partners risk little, if any, of their personal wealth. They mostly bet with other investors’ money, including the pension savings of average working people

What a day! Went out early to do

Beautiful video. I hope they can get it out across the country and on every channel. I don’t want to hear of a single veteran who doesn’t vote for the president. He is the only one who care about them and their families as well a all active service members.

    Good afternoon Todville and Chips

    Happy Birthday ChristiMTL!!!

My hard drive is not working properly so the video is not working properly. Judging from the comments it has to be a positively beautiful story.

I ‘d like to also wish Malia a very Happy Birthday.

I thought this video which is one of my favoritives of Ray Charles could accompany all the beautiful well wishes for America to continue as President Obama said today toward perfecting a more perfect union.

PS: Chips my birthday is on an important day too. It is the 8th of July the day the “Declaration of Independpence” was read at Philadelphia’s Independence Square in 1776. (It was actually read twice that day.)

    http://www.classbrain.com/artholiday/publish/article_112.shtml

May I place an order in advance for our President wishing me a Happy Birthday with a cake ?

That would be the best birthday present I could recieve and cherish in all my decades on this earth.

Romney: Individual mandate “is a tax”

In an exclusive interview, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney on Wednesday told CBS News chief political correspondent Jan Crawford that the individual mandate in President Obama’s signature health care law, which was upheld last week by the Supreme Court, is “a tax.” The remark contradicts what his campaign asserted Monday, when senior adviser Eric Fehrnstrom said Romney believes the mandate is a “penalty,” not a tax.

    • July 4, 2012 at 12:47 pm

LOL!!! Lord help us all this campaign is pathetic. I can’t wait for the debates when this liar will have to answer for all these lies or look foolish avoiding them. I’m depending on Pres.Obama to do this of course. Not the moderators.

As he proceeds on these very necessary trips to Ohio, Pennsylvania and Iowa later thank You again, Sir, for keeping him from any and all hurt harm or danger. Thank you that he is a major success on these tours and that he is definitely put over the top. I know that You keep him always in the right places at the right times. Thank You for continuing to be an enemy to his enemies and an adversary to his adversaries and exposing them for the frauds, tricksters and hucksters that they are. Thank You for the ministering and guardian angels tending to him and his precious family and also for Vice-President Joe Biden and his precious family. This is what the BAINSTREAMEDIA does not want to get out. If people knew that the GOTP will overturn ACA and will not replace it. People will go back to be at the mercy of Insurance companys once again. In time people WITH company provided health insurance will find they will not be able to afford the deductibles for less and less coverage. Women will be let go when they become pregnant or have high costs illnesses. The President did the right thing by focusing on health care first because this helps everyone including businesses yet the Corp owned BSM will not admit it until it’s too late, just like the war in Iraq. They admitted AFTER Bush was out of office that they did not push back on the reasons for going to war….then continued the Corporate message everything anti-Obama and pro-Robme.

A federal judge has ordered the New York Post’s top editor to answer questions about how his boss, media mogul Rupert Murdoch, reacted to a cartoon that depicted President Obama as a dead chimpanzee.

The order came last week in a lawsuit filed by former Post employee Sandra Guzman, who accused the newspaper and editor Col Allan of racial discrimination and harassment. It was first reported late Tuesday by Reuters.

In February, the order said, Allan refused during a sworn deposition to answer questions about what he and Murdoch, whose News Corporation owns the Post, talked about when the cartoon was published in 2009. Allan claimed he was protected under ā€œeditorial privilege.ā€

But federal Magistrate Judge Ronald Ellis ruled the protection didn’t apply because nothing Allan and Murdoch talked about was related to a secret source or the newsgathering process.

Romney: I love our flag. I love the heroism of those who built this great country.
I love this country. I love the people who have built this country.
This country is a country that is changing the world even today. The world needs a strong America.
Romney on picking a slogan: The idea that actually I landed on was as simple as this — we believe in America.

Amputee Oscar Pistorius named to Olympics in 4×400 race

JOHANNESBURG (AP) – Oscar Pistorius was selected Wednesday to run in both the individual 400 meters and the 4×400 relay at the London Olympics, clearing the way for him to become the first amputee track athlete to compete at any games.

South Africa’s Oscar Pistorius, who runs on carbon fiber blades, made history last year by qualifying for the world championships, where he won silver in the 4×400.

In a surprise last-minute decision, South Africa’s Olympic committee and national track federation said the double amputee can run in his individual event as well as the relay even though he did not meet the country’s qualifying criteria in the 400.

The Olympic committee earlier announced that Pistorius, who runs on carbon fiber blades, had been picked only for the relay.

“Today is truly one of the proudest days of my life,” Pistorius said. “To have been selected to represent Team South Africa at the London 2012 Olympic Games in the individual 400m and the 4x400m relay is a real honor and I am so pleased that years of hard work, determination and sacrifice have all come together.”
