These are exactly the kind of tweets I find most effective. Ad-hominen attack often just turn people off and lead to the dismissal of the tweeter. But these kind are difficult to dismiss. They make the point in a “Borowitz”-style. When words and images are inconsistent (as in many political ads), it is the image that speaks to the subconscious mind — and sinks in.

Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to President Obama, says that the White House “will be prepared” if the Supreme Court overturns all or part of the administration’s health care reform law, according to Politico.

Meanwhile, Marc Ambinder says that the White House is preparing executive orders if the law is struck down. “Their content and timing I don’t know. But they’ve got contingency plans a-plenty.”

    • June 25, 2012 at 7:17 pm

If I remember correctly, it was the WH who pushed for this HCR to be in the Supreme CT right now – and there has to be a reason they did this. That’s why I’m not sweating about the outcome. The administration is ready for whatever maybe. I don’t see PBO looking like he’s sweating bullets over this. It’s the GOP who is worried right now. And their cronies in the MSM who are flailing about with their 24/7 doomsday scenarios.

      • June 25, 2012 at 8:26 pm

Why Media’s Health Care Reform Coverage Was Even Worse Than You Thought

With the United States Supreme Court set to rule on the constitutionality of the Obama administration’s 2010 health care reform law, it’s worth noting the media coverage at the time of the debate dramatically favored Republican opponents of the bill. The Pew Research Center recently reminded us of that fact when it highlighted the findings of a comprehensive survey they conducted from June 1, 2009 to March 31, 2010.

But it turns out the Pew study likely downplayed just how dramatically media outlets aided and amplified Republican attacks on health care reform, even though Republicans were on the losing side of that legislative showdown. (Since when do losers get to write the history?)

That’s because the Pew study didn’t effectively capture the run-away misinformation and ceaseless health care reform attacks that flowed from Fox News during the debate.

    • June 25, 2012 at 6:04 pm

Sadly, media coverage of everything that pertains to President Obama is done through the GOP prism. This crop of MSM will go down in history as the worst ever.

I just left a tweet to Stefanie Cutter and David Axelrod that Obama needs to start having TOWNHALLS WITH VOTERS NOW!! He needs a townhall with SENIORS. He needs a Townhall with HISPANICS/LATINOS He needs a TOWNHALL with Independent/Undecided voters. We have had enough of rallys now, he needs to zero in on individual questions on voters minds. He kills any opponent when he directly stands in front of folks and answers their questions or concerns. It would put romney on the defensive because it will let folks now what people are worried about and are talking about. Can yall tweet Stefanie and David Axelrod or anyone in the OFA and request that Obama start having townhalls

It’s not even August yet. You don’t know A-Z of their plans. They roll these plans out. You just can’t dump all your plans in one summer. What will be left for the fall? I’m not going to demand of the Obama 2012 team what they should or should not do. I watched the c-span interview with Ben LaBolt and Axelrod and watched the behind the scenes of the Obama 2012 HQ and they are on the ball in all sorts of ways. They’re not neophytes.

      June 25, 2012 at 7:02 pm

Actually – the campaign sent out a request for feedback last month, and this is similar to what I wrote. The large rallies are easy for Romney to imitate, because they can rile up their crowds to boo and hiss. But the more intimate settings with President Obama answering people’s questions, and relating to them one on one – Romney can’t touch him. Plus, it would actually get more relevant information out. I know it’s probably a lot more exhausting for the President to have to prepare for each town hall so he can answer every question from left field – especially while he’s also doing his day job of running the Free World (as they say). But, I think the mileage would go a lot further with the give and take. The town halls just give people a chance to see the man, the person, and for him to actually engage. I’m sure they’re going to get to it when the time is right. (I also worry about these large crowds)…

I think it’s best for all of us to defer to the team that brilliantly run his campaign in 2008 about how to run his campaign now. Obviously, you have every right to make demands on twitter and post them on blogs. I for one will not join you in making demands, or telling the President and his team what to do. First, I am not qualified to make such demands as I have never run a campaign in my life, let alone a presidential campaign. Second, I don’t particularly think that what you are proposing is so urgent that it should be done right now. I am sure in due time President Obama will do “TOWN HALLS.”

Clinton Reveals Irrefutable Fact That Democrats Are The True Job Creators

So where are the jobs? Public sector jobs have been cut, primarily in states where there are new GOP governors and legislators who were elected in 2010 as a knee-jerk reaction to the bailout of Wall Street. These enthusiastic, extreme right-wing Republicans have slashed budgets for public safety, teachers and other vital service functions.

According to the Labor Department, if those cuts had not been made, our unemployment rate at this time would be 7.1 % and shrinking instead the 8.1% it is currently.

So the next time you hear your Republican friends insist that “business expert Romney” is the best solution for our ailing economy, you have some additional facts for your repertoire to confound them. Of course I know Republicans tend to break out in a rash when facts are presented, but at least for a while they’ll be distracted from their dogged itch to Obama bash.

Speaking about job creators, isn’t it interesting how quickly Boehner could make time to hold a vote re Ag Eric Holder, but all these months he hasn’t been able to get Congress to significantly discuss jobs for unemployed Americans?

The DSCC has started reserving fall air time in Ohio for the matchup between Sen. Sherrod Brown and Josh Mandel, who despite a barrage of negative headlines has been running a tight race against the incumbent, a GOP media-buying source says.

The reservation is from Oct. 2 through election day, the final five weeks of the race, for $2.28 million in three markets – Cleveland, Dayton and Youngstown.

That leaves time left to purchase in the Columbus market, meaning the price tag is likely to grow.

I like the idea someone had earlier to OFA supporters to hold up signs that say “Honk if you’re voting for Obama!” Outside the venue whenever the Robme bus shows up. Perfect counter!

I am so happy to be at home. I have been running the streets all day. I have lots of catching up to do. Chips did you post the speech in New Hampshire already?

      Little JUVENILE dicks….

I liked the idea to hold up big signs saying “Honk if you support President Obama” when they perform these juvenile rituals.
