I agree about Mitt. I have thought for quite a while that he will have a big implosion. He is not used to this pressure, to being questioned, to being expected to stand for something, for everybody around him not agreeint with him, to having an opponent like PBO…..I firmly believe he will melt down.

    Good Evening Everyone!

Haven’t had a chance to check in today. I was scoping out twitter to see if any decisions came down today. I’m not worried about the ACA decision anymore. I’m confident that whatever the outcome, Pres.Obama and his team at HHS/DOJ have contingency plans. His campaign team will also make the best of whatever happens on Thursday. I already know the reaction of the MSM/GOP to each possible outcome and if it doesn’t go well, we will see all the flaky fair weathered Democrats coming out of the wood works. In other words, not much of a damn difference from any other news cycle.

Basically, I’m emotionally prepared for the worst.

          • June 25, 2012 at 8:33 pm

Yep. SCOTUS has been siding with corporations a lot lately, (well, all the time) so add the gutting of ACA and it fits right into PBO’s campaign message of fairness.

            • June 25, 2012 at 9:26 pm

gob, it’s a good thing you missed it. During AZ ruling, Scalia went on a rampage against PBO’s immigration policy change. Very political rant. He’s completely nuts.

I like it. true American story people can relate to. glad she said she paid for her education through student loans. that’s what the vast majority of Americans who go to college do. We can’t all afford to have our parents invest $20,000 in us at a lower interest rate. (screw you, Petunia!!)
      ps- i like the ad.

    • 96 nathkatun7
      June 25, 2012 at 9:37 pm

I think this ad is great. She comes across as some one who knows and sincerely cares about the middle class. Most people I know who went to college, including those who went into business, were able to do so because of student loans, scholarships and federal work study grants. I personally related to what the ad said. By the way, Tien, what are her chances of winning?

      • June 25, 2012 at 10:51 pm

It’s hard to say. She has more money and is a true moderate (it’s a moderate district), but as you well know primary elections tend to not get great turnout. The people who vote in primaries tend to be party faithful, many of whom lean toward Darcy Burner. I think if Suzan can be on the air with more advertising and get up more signs and drop more mail, she can overcome the uber-progressive, who has zero chance of beating the republican, and is only able to raise money from the Netroots crowd. Suzan has a MUCH better chance of beating the Republican Koster, but this is looking like the Dems are going to shoot themselves in both feet with this one. Too bad…Suzan really could beat Koster handily and again in 2014–better organization and campaign ability. The Dems are operating on pure emotion this time; they are disregarding strategy entirely.

        • 98 nathkatun7
          June 26, 2012 at 12:24 am

Darcy Burner reminds of Dennis Kucinich. Suzan sounds and appears to be a level headed pragmatic Democrat. I don’t know much about her, but if you have a favorable impression of her she must be a really good candidate. We really need moderate and pragmatic Democrats, in moderate districts, to challenge Republican incumbents, in order to have a shot at regaining Democratic majorities in Congress. This is not the time for holier than thou purity progressivism that helps elect so called moderate Republicans who end up siding with their fellow right wing Republicans.

Romney’s campaign bus circled Obama’s fundraiser at Boston Symphony Hall Monday night several times, according to Romney deputy press secretary Ryan Williams and verified by several onlookers who said it was honking its horn as it passed.

Williams told BuzzFeed that the bus made “a few” laps before local police closed the roads around the venue before Obama’s arrival. They plan on bringing the bus back after Obama leaves to attend another fundraiser.

    Gangsta Pranksta

The more the Romney camp tries to unzip the “Mitt as Irrepressible Prankster” meme, the more clear it becomes that either “prank” is an earthling word that Mittbot 2012 cannot compute or else the dude is just a fucking psycho.

The future presidential candidate and three friends dressed in what Shaw calls “gangland fashion” hopped out of a 1930s vintage Ford that was double-parked across the street, in front of City Hall and the police station.

The pretend gangsters made a beeline for the storefront………….

    Another prank

”But when Shaw opened the door, he explained, he suddenly stood face-to-face with Mitt Romney “in full Bloomfield Township fireman’s regalia.”

Hiya Os!!!! Lordy, I’m getting here later and later…even on this great getting up day, or should I say going to bed evening in TODtown! Number 2’s birthday tomorrow, must call and do our birthday eve ritual for the 24th time. We go over every new thing she experienced during her current year, then we say good-by to that year and all the blessings it brought. Both #1 and #2 do that on each birthday eve, no matter where they are. The grandkids do it as well. I must admit, they thought it was corny when I started it, but now everyone looks forward to it.

Political take today is I’m going to have to get started earlier on TOD, or my political take of today will be a day late. Anyway, I want to see wide angle shots of all of Ditt’s audiences. I will let all MSM outlets know that they are purposely keeping tight and close shots of him to make folks believe the narrative they are trying to promote. I will note that they seem to be tiring of his aversion to them.

Gary Segura, the Stanford political scientist and co-founder of the polling firm Latino Decisions, told me last week that he thought the Court upholding the law would be a boon to the Obama re-election campaign.

“Latinos will be genuinely scared,” he said. “And we have polling data on this, in and out of Arizona, showing third- and fourth-generation Latinos believe there’s a very good possibility Latino ctizens will be swept up. All sections of the Latino community could be mobilized to a greater extent for the Democrats.”

Segura told me just now that even though the decision is not quite as clean-cut as the one he outlined, to the extent that the Court has allowed the portion of the law permitting police to stop and detain suspected immigrants to stand, Hispanic enthusiasm and energy for the president could climb even higher.

it is said that God has a sense of humor. can you imagine if a re-elected President Obama bets an opportunity oyo name very liberal minority replacements for “unexpectedly-retiring” Scalia & Thomas (retiring due to a family issue or something)?.

It is expected that RW radio pundits would get the interpretation of the SCOTUS ruling twisted but the left wing was radio hosts were getting it wrong too. There was an attorney on one of the left radio shows this afternoon that said the AZ provision that was left in place would not go into effect because it is being challenged. LO said that once AZ police try to enforce the law and profiling is used, it will be eventually struck down unless next year PBO and the democratic house and senate pass an immigration bill.

As Obama arrived at Symphony Hall on Monday evening, a sizable crowd of onlookers gathered and a group of Romney supporters held a large blue Romney sign and chanted, “Mitt-Mitt-Mitt.” A group of Obama supporters chanted back, “O-Bama” and “Yes, We Can.”

The Romney camp, in a bit of a taunt, sent Romney’s campaign bus circling around Symphony Hall before Obama’s arrival, then parked it two blocks away as the president spoke to his supporters.

Roland Martin drives me crazy sometimes….he’s saying that Pres Obama needs to make a national speech about violence in Chicago and nationwide. I’m really not sure a speech would be enough. The Pres already has a national forum on youth violence. It was launched after all the school kids were shot in 2009. He sent Holder and Duncan back to Chicago. The forum was launched in 2010 and began operating in 2011 working with cities including Chicago to develop strategies to combat youth violence. So the admin is working on this problem. We do need immediate action, which should include more police on the streets but the city is constrained by budget cuts, which have also affected summer programs for youth.

I wish Erin Burnett had talked about the national forum on youth violence and how to maybe implement their plans faster. That would have been constructive. Yet, you have Erin really looking at a way to blame Pres Obama (she talked about how he came home and hasn’t said a thing about the violence). Roland is talking about a national speech at a church on the south side (its my church so I really wouldn’t mind if PBO came back to visit). Roland thinks that PBO’s moral authority might move the kids to stop the violence. I don’t know…these kids are in desperate situations…no jobs, lack of food, bad schools, nothing to do this summer and its hot and a lot of homes don’t have A/C. Police are saying they think the warm weather this year is part of the problem because more people are outside much earlier this year. So, would a speech work? I don’t know, it might but as usual I really wish these reporters would really look at what is already on the table and then we can have an intelligent discussion on whether those plans work or not. If not then why and how to improve it, etc. But again budget cuts are a huge part of the problem too and the American Jobs Act could have gone a long way in helping local government – putting more police on the streets, ect – yet all of that is overlooked in our need for theatrics. Maybe that’s too harsh…
