Hopefruit2, you are so correct. The MSM hate to see this coming from these two wonderful men. They are such a great team. I remember when VP Biden gave his speech when he dropped out, and he had his family there. He acknowledged his loving mother and it was such a humble speech filled with so much hurt, but I could see his beautiful spirit. I believed in my heart that Almighty had still something sitting on the bountiful table of “Human Goodness of the Spirit Within a Decent Man’s Soul,” and surely look what happened. He and PBO were meant to be together like this.

They are so beautiful a team. We can see the respect and wonderful bond that they have for each other. I love it and ask for beautiful blessings for both of them. HZ

😆 I should quickly add only a few of them are from TODers, the rest are worky-related things I should have replied to, ooooooh, four weeks ago. 😳

Oh, those! Well, after 4 weeks or so, who cares? 😉 Actually that reminds me of my work email. 😆 Very often people have to tell me what they wrote me when we meet up. In my case I found/find it really stupid that a colleague would send me an email when we work in the same office or eat in the same lunchroom or whatever. I tend to only check my email once a week or when I’m reminded by a comment like ‘Did you get my message?’ 😆

I’ve got to give PBO, his administration, and the Obama 2012 team Kudos. Everywhere I look on TV. Every channel I flip to, I see ObamaCare ads. The ads are beautiful. Just wonderful. Step by step they outline benefits for young people, children, women, and the elderly. They talk about the fact that women won’t need co-pays for preventive care such as mammograms, cancer screenings, pap smears etc. They talk about improved medicare benefits, closing the donut hole. They talk about the fact that pre-existing conditions are no longer a barrier to getting healthcare coverage. They talk about young people being able to stay on their parents healthcare until they are 26. They show children, women, teenagers, men, granddads and grand moms who look like each and everyone of us. It’s brilliant. You look at the ads and you see yourself. You see your race, your gender, your family. Then they end by saying that you can find out more on http://www.healthcare.gov

It makes me smile every time. The behind the scenes work Obama 2012 is doing is phenomenal. This is TX! They might not ultimately win the state but they are still making a play for it so that they can drive up voter turnout and help Democrats down ticket. It’s bloody amazing. Kudos to them. Kudos!

Very encouraging news here UTAL, I retweeted your comment earlier on Twitter.

Tell me something, I figure you are in Austin, but do you have a clue what’s going on in Waco politically? I’ve heard it’s about 11/2 hours away. I’m heading that way in about 2 weeks and would love to get a chance to do even an afternoon or two with OFA. I’m trying to decide which airport to use Dallas/Austin, which it would be ‘easier’ to drive from, etc. etc. I hate flying so the little commuter plane I’ve heard about just isn’t one of my options. It’s bad enough that I’ll be flying in on a regular plane. 😦 Any comments? Also, is there any other Texas TODobot who might have any insight re helping in Waco? Would appreciate any family input.

        June 23, 2012 at 8:37 am

Go to http://www.barackobama.com and type in the zip code of wherever you’ll reside in Waco. It should give you responses about any events OFA will have in Waco. It will also tell you whether OFA has any central office in Waco like they do in Austin. As for the airports to drive from, I’ve driven from Waco to Austin and it’s a very short drive. About an hour or so. I don’t know about Dallas. Any Dallas folks on TOD who’ve driven to Waco before? Also go to http://www.googlemaps.com and type in the address of the Dallas airport or the Austin airport and the address where you’ll be staying and compare the distance and route you’ll be taking. Hope this helps. 🙂

The drive from Dallas to Waco is about an hour and a half. Construction may be present…speed limit has gone up so you may get to go faster.

          • 55 vcprezofan2
            June 23, 2012 at 9:11 am

The idea of construction detours give me the shivers as I wouldn’t want to get lost in a ‘foreign’ country, and my idea of Texas is that it’s more’ far in’ than some other US states. I’ll be honest, as we are in the family, and admit that I do not have good thoughts about traveling in the U S of A and have never before done so alone, so there’s some anxiety under the skin.

          June 23, 2012 at 9:03 am

Yes it helps, thank you. I’ve errands just before noon, but will check these out upon my return. I’ve been putting off booking my main flight as I couldn’t decide whether to go to Dallas Int’l or Austin Int’l and the old folk I’m visiting can’t come so far to pick me up. I’m not much of a traveler, so the run of the mill idea, for most people, of flying in and renting a car seems unbelievably bold for me. In addition the folks don’t have internet/computer so I haven’t yet decided how to work around that. All these decisions to move me out of my comfort zone !!

I don’t know about Austin, but the DFW airport is a nightmare to get out of all by itself. If you fly Southwest, you’ll go into Love Field, which is not nearly as fearsome as DFW, but you still have to get out of Dallas. Waco is a sleepy little town, easy to get into, easy to drive around. Pretty much everything revolves around Baylor. My sister and I spent two days there doing family geneaology work about 10 years ago. From what I’ve read above, and know about Dallas, I think the suggestion to fly into Austin is the right one. The original Dr. Pepper plant is in Waco. Good luck…….you can do it.
You could go to the car rental counter in your home airport and have them make the arrangements for your car….or if you belong to AAA, have them do the work for you. I’m a great believer in having professionals in whatever field do the work. They know how! Keep us posted.
Oh, guess what vc…….when you go to Waco, you’ll be close to Crawford and GWB’s “ranch”…….my sister, the GWB fanatic made me drive her there on our trip. It looks like a second rate stage set for a cheap western.

Not for nothing- the only one I saw was that Female Doctor saying we don’t need obamacare!
The Administration has done a great job of informing People of the rebate that insurance Companies will give them, as a result of the ACA, but those are leaks!
The 2 ads I have seen all over the tv, was the Forward ad and Willards time as a Governor.
Could you elaborate on what all these ads said about the ACA and what State you saw them in?

      • June 23, 2012 at 8:37 am

        Oh, Texas? Never mind!
None about ACA down here in Florida, so the ads you talk about are not National.

ACA ads should be everywhere. Tie it to jobs creation!

For the first time yesterday Thom Hartman I think said that 400,000 jobs would not be created if ACA goes away. I knew it would create jobs but even someone like me who follows this stuff didn’t know this extraordinary number.

Why have Dems been allergic to selling this law? The provisions of the law that are popular are the ones that have been mentioned repeatedly by the President. I simply cannot understand why this hss not received the priority it deserves and the public needs. Not to mention the 2012 election.

The president has won all weeks since 2012 started. To hell with what the MSM wants us to think. I can see and think for myself thank you very much.

          • June 23, 2012 at 9:56 am

This media nonsense of winning weeks stuff is overrated anyway. Nobody voting in November is going to make their decision based on how the President did the week of June whatever.

    • 77 LOL
      June 23, 2012 at 8:40 am

So glad the media is finally doing their job. Enough of this I’m a businessman…trust me nonsense. They need to dig further and look into his years of taking Massachusetts to the third worst state for job creation. Ask him…why his businessman skills didn’t translate into a state with less than 7 million people (2.3% of the U.S Population).

On another note…how brilliant is our president and his team? I am still marveling at this silent hit job they did on Rubio and Mitt. The whole GOP “Hispanic outreach” for this election year was going to be pumping up Rubio and his immigration plan…now all Ricky has are books to sell. And the GOP on the Hill said they defer to Mitt who defers it right back to them. HA!

So watch for the new meme folks. I saw an article but I won’t link because its absolute bollocks. Now, they are saying the President can’t win because his support amongst whites is too low. LMAO. So if Romney can’t win because of the minorites, the inverse must be true and Obama can’t win because he has too few whites. Yes, because all those auto industry jobs in the Midwest is done by Latinos, Blacks, and Asians. 🙄

The guys pushing that meme to get out more or actually open their eyes. It would come as a surprise to states like New York, Illinois and PA, and a lot of Midwestern, New England and West Coast states, all of which will fall in the Obama column, that they have an all-minority population.

      • June 23, 2012 at 10:03 am

Totally agree. Rubio never knew what hit him and the only thing Romney could do was run as far as he could away from Bob Schieffer’s questions.

However, I am very happy of the way he has continously exposed the rightwingers’ hate machine and tactics and strategies to try and destroy PBO.

    Gooooooood Morning….TODers…GM Chipssssss….

    sipping coffee…reading TOD and twitter….

today i plan to man(woman)a voter registration table at my local supermarket…i so love doing this…i meet my neighbors and friends here…i get a chance to really hear what folks on the ground feel about PBO and the issues at hand…many times i just listen and interject when needed…most folks are upset with the disrepsect shown to the President and see the Repubs as a problem but they do not have details…i realize that most of my neighbors are not political geeks like me…they get most of their info from MSM…if they have a computer i steer them to two sites..TOD and whitehouse.gov…it is so important for them to have true information..

on another note…come July 1st here in PA ..there will be a change in Medicaid benefits…single disabled persons w/o children will no longer receive cash benefits…i work in a facility that takes care of mental health patients…some of the patients there will lose their benefits…we can thank the Repub majority in my state for this….

it is always those at the bottom…who suffer so much…who speaks for them/
the pundits talk about these issues in the 3rd person…they analyze and disect this and that….

i know that it is easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer maganitude of what we face…but i do believe that we have the power to defeat those forces…

soooo…i continue to move forward and not lose faith….

PF, Corbett and his GOP henchmen in the capital are set on destroying this state. I hope we get some semblance of balance back on the House side in November, and all hands have to be on deck to get Corbett out in 2014. In the meantime, we need to engage the local press in printing the stories of those individuals who are hurt by Corbett’s action. If you know of individuals affecedt, please call your local newspaper, or write an LTE. You might even request a guest editorial. Local radio reaches a lot of people. Call in and talk about the heartlessness of the Corbett administration and its effect on real people. Good luck.

    A Quintessential Peggy Noonan Column

I saw some chatter on Twitter this morning about how we all “Must Read” Peggy Noonan’s newest Wall Street Journal column. So I read it, and I’ll concur that you probably should as well, because it stands out as an archetypal example of Noonan’s hopelessly vacant breed of analysis.

Here’s the Peggy Noonan method for column-writing: 1) seize on trite observation about modern politics, present it as your devilishly original thesis; 2) lard out that unremarkable premise with prose that is overwrought, repetitive, or both; 3) think about what a comically out-of-touch pundit wants, ascribe that want to the “the people,” sprinkle throughout; 4) go on Morning Joe.

    • 99 cluny
      June 23, 2012 at 9:19 am

Ladyhawke, I thought Noonan really blundered on the contraception issue – she was one of the first who blew it up and was on Morning Joe blathering on – she set the tone and many right wingers in congress and the media jumped on board before the Pres rope a doped them. She’s not nearly as clever as she thinks she is and she should be given a lot of thanks for helping to turn women against the republicans even though this was not her original intention. Her smug, self important phony self really helped set up the Sandra Fluke/contaception debate fro us. Gee, thanks for that Peggy.

Scott (Senator-Centerfold) Brown Gets A Royal Flush (VIDEO)

We already knew that Massachusetts’ Teapublican Senator Scott Brown is an Emperor with no clothes (see his nude centerfold in Cosmopolitan magazine). What we did not know however, is that he alleges that he pals around with other royalty to boot! Whether or not these other royals shed their own robes when in Scott Brown’s company is still open to conjecture.

Scott Brown must be truly worried about his upcoming election in November. He appears to realize that not only is his Democratic opponent (and architect of the Consumer financial Protection Agency) out-raising him in campaign donations, but Elizabeth Warren is also winning the war of framing the campaign on the actual issues. Rather than resort to character assassination as Brown has done by alleging that Warren is not of Native American descent as she claims her parents told her, Warren has taken the fight to Brown by revealing that his Senate votes prove that he is indebted to the Wall Street bankers who provide the vast majority of his donations and not to the working/middle class who he pretends to represent.

Mitt Romney Slides into Panicked Free Fall over Outsourcing Claims

After the Washington Post blew the lid off of Mitt Romney job creator claims, the Romney campaign responded by not denying the fact that he is the outsourcer in chief.

Contrary to the Romney job creator narrative, The Washington Post analysis found that, “Bain played several roles in helping these outsourcing companies, such as investing venture capital so they could grow and providing management and strategic business advice as they navigated this rapidly developing field.”
Actually, The Washington Post article is based on research of SEC disclosure forms that reveal that Romney was instrumental in moving American jobs overseas. The Romney campaign didn’t bother with disputing the facts and research in the article. Instead they adopted a Clintonesque ‘it all depends on what the definition is’ parsing of outsourcing versus offshoring.

from the same article by Jason Easley:

“What is stunning is that once again, the Romney campaign didn’t see this coming. They should have had their statement and defense prepared months ago. It is like they didn’t expect anyone to actually look at Romney’s time at Bain, and compare that to what he is saying on the campaign trail.”

Gee – there’s been a bit of that hasn’t there – Romney not being ready to answer questions on obvious topics like Bain, tax returns etc. The more I learn about Romney the more I’m convinced he’s a sociopath with a raging entitlement problem. I honestly feel like he doesn’t feel he has to answer any of this stuff cause he’s gone his whole life never having to answer for anything and having it all his own way. It’s creepy.

    Good morning everybody,

Isn’t it interesting that whilst Romney was busy loading companies up with debt and bankrupting them in order to get rich quick PBO was working as a community organiser in Chicago helping people who had lost their jobs in steel mills. I don’t know a better contrast than that – just there. And you know what drives me crazy – all this Romney talk about his business experience and how he knows what to do and how clueless PBO is – well on the MAJOR decision about the auto industry PBO got it right and Romney was wrong – I don’t know what else there is to say. There are countless other examples of where PBO gets it right and Romney is wrong – l can’t wait for these to be hammered relentlessly by the O campaign and it’s many supporters. It’s so inspiring to see all at TOD work so hard to get the Pres reelected. I didn’t get a chance to say how moving his speech was yesterday.

here is my clumsy attempt to make your statement into a tweet:

While Romney was enriching self by indebting & bankrupting companies, community organiser @barackobama was helping ppl who lost mill jobs

sorry for the blatant theft. I hope it is compensated by at least one pro-President Obama vote.

“President Obama issued an order that allows some illegal immigrants to stay in the country. Or, as Fox News reported it: Obama issues order allowing himself to stay in the country.”
    —Conan O’Brien

“Other than George Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Ronald Reagan, no president in modern history has changed deportation policy through executive action. Except all of them.”
    —Jon Stewart

“Mitt Romney said Obama is ignoring the real issues with illegals, which is that they keep blowing the grass clippings into his pool.”
    —Bill Maher

“For the first time in history, the number of Asian immigrants coming into America is larger than the number of Hispanic immigrants. Now even our immigrants are being made in China.”
    —Jimmy Fallon

Clip of Rep. Darrell Issa on Fox: Very clearly, [Obama] made a crisis [via Fast & Furious] and they’re using this crisis to somehow take away or limit people’s Second Amendment rights.
Stephen Colbert: Yes! Very clearly, Obama started this gun-tracking program in 2006 when he hypnotized George Bush, then he secretly ordered Attorney General Holder to order the Justice Department to order the ATF to order gun shops to sell guns to Mexican drug cartels and then lose track of them, thereby panicking Americans to gin up support for the draconian gun-control measures that Obama has never introduced!

I wish that PBO and AG Holder could let the gop rightwingers actual go ahead and table the contempt vote

Once the vote is brought to the floor then Team Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Dems can use the opportunity to educate the AMerican people about
        – when, how and why this program started,
        – who is pushing the contempt vote (NRA and others afraid of AG’s stand on civil rights and voting rights) and
        – how corrupt darrell issa and his crew of hatemongers ids

I’ve been meaning to mention this for 2-3 weeks and keep forgetting. In all the driving I do–to visit my mom every week, our trip to church’s annual conference, trip to hubby’s class reunion plus daily driving around the Knoxville area, I have yet to see even one Romney sticker/magnet. However, I see a number of Obama/Biden ones. A lot? No, but it is SO obvious that this very red area of east TN does not like Romney. Yes, they will vote for him, but it sure won’t be with enthusiasm. I see quite a few Paul stickers–surprise?? No. There is seldom a time when I am out running errands that I don’t see at least one Obama/Biden sticker and nearly all of theme are 2012, not 2008.

Fast & Furious is a NRA Conspiracy

    by BooMan
Sat Jun 23rd, 2012 at 09:49:09 AM EST

As far as I know, there have been no new federal laws passed during President Obama’s term in office that restrict gun ownership or impact gun owner’s privacy. After Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot by one of her constituents, there was a small flurry of bills introduced by Democrats. They were referred to committee and died. When the Republican Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee Peter King (R-NY) announced his intention to introduce a gun control bill, he was quickly shot down by Speaker Boehner.
Certainly, the president hasn’t signed any bills like the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. That bill was signed by George H.W. Bush and was found to be unconstitutional in 1995. Clinton had it tweaked a bit, but it is basically toothless at this point.

There seem to be no grounds for suspecting that President Obama has any kind of gun control agenda at all, and neither does the Democratic Party. This, of course, makes the National Rifle Association (NRA) rather irrelevant, at least in political matters. Their fundraising should be drying up since there really is no need for them to do anything in the political arena. Their opponents were vanquished long ago. Even watching a colleague get shot in the brain wasn’t enough to move Congress to do anything to restrict gun ownership.

Yet, the NRA is telling people that the president has a secret plan to confiscate their guns and actually informed Congress that they will be “scoring” the contempt vote for Eric Holder, as if you couldn’t be a supporter of gun rights if you don’t think the Attorney General should be held in contempt for failing to turn over irrelevant emails and meeting minutes.
