ROMNEY IMMIGRATION POLICY: PERHAPS THE WRONG SPEECH WAS LOADED INTO THE TELEPROMPTER

    He forgot to mention ‘self-deportation’

    By Steve Benen

    —————————-

But if he avoided a position on the goals of the DREAM Act, and chose not to address all of the positions he took before securing his party’s nomination, what is Romney’s position on immigration policy? As Adam Serwer reported, “Heading into the general election, Romney’s position on immigration now sounds more like a relationship status on Facebook: It’s complicated.”

The Romney campaign suggested this week that Romney’s speech to NALEO would finally fill in the gaps, making it clear what the candidate would do if elected. If so, perhaps the wrong speech was loaded into Romney’s teleprompter — we still have no idea what he intends to do about the millions of undocumented immigrants already living in the United States.

    Woke up thinking what is going on with these people who are meeting in Utah tomorrow: they have no apparent sense of gratitude, for anything. Then though how fitting they chose the same date Gratefulness.org is holding their summit called Pathways to Gratefulness tomorrow as well. I’m hoping enough people will light candles tomorrow, real ones and virtual ones, to balance out the darkness and hate that will be emanating from that ‘retreat’ in Utah tomorrow. http://pathways.gratefulness.org/ Bye everyone, lots to do before work today, hugs all around! {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{TODObots}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

This is for the previous thread’s picture of the President and Bo: I love that picture, and I love all pictures of the family with Bo. He just looks so relaxed with Bo. There’s something about running fingers through that soft doggie fur that is relaxing. When I pet and pat our poodle, who has much the same kind of fur as Bo, the world slips away, and everything is ok. That’s the look the President has on his face, and I’m so glad he has Bo. And, I’m so glad Bo has easy access to the Oval Office…….he’s needed there!

    POLITICIANS IN ROBES

John Roberts Is Just a Liar

Now that many polls seem to NOT be in Romney’s favor, here’s lil’ Nate to set us straight and remind us of the “house effects” which are biasing the polls. Note that in his little graphic, he indicates that PPP and a few others are even more slanted towards Obama than the FOX/Rassmussen are slanted towards Romney.

I’m sadly not a Nate Silver fan anymore as he so underutilizes his primetime space at NYT for silly or unnecessary polling information and when he could provide real proof of GOP bs he doesn’t. However this is one article that I find useful and tend to agree with. Personally I always shave off about 3 off PPP. Recent example of that is PPP had Walker on Sunday night before the Tuesday election up by only 3 and he won by 7. Wisconsin should have been fairly easy to poll relative to other elections.

    DARRELL ISSA’S SELECTIVE AMNESIA

Fringy Fraud: Darrell Issa’s Fast and Furious Exposed

    By Sarah Jones

    ——————————–

Jerry Markon and Sari Horwitz of The Washington Post had more sources who contradicted Issa’s alleged memory of that briefing:

A chief Republican critic of a controversial U.S. anti-gun-trafficking operation was briefed on ATF’s “Fast and Furious” program last year and did not express any opposition, sources familiar with the classified briefing said Tuesday.

Rep. Darrell Issa (Calif.), who has repeatedly called for top Justice Department officials to be held accountable for the now-defunct operation, was given highly specific information about it at an April 2010 briefing, the sources said. Members of his staff also attended the session, which Issa and two other Republican congressmen had requested.

Issa was there and expressed no opposition to Fast and Furious? Who is going to drag Issa before a committee to answer what he knew and when? No one, that’s who. Democrats won’t do it even if they get back into power.

ROMNEY “ON COLLISION COURSE” WITH SOME GOP GOVERNORS

    Florida’s Scott ignores Romney’s advice

    By Steve Benen

    ———————————-

Remember, it’s not just Florida. Maddow Blog has been documenting the trend for over a month, but as other news outlets pick up on this, we see the examples of conflict between Romney and his ostensible gubernatorial allies grow. The New York Times reports today that the Republican presidential nominee is “on a collision course” with GOP governors in states like Virginia, Ohio and Iowa. The Daily Beast noted the concerns in Wisconsin, too.

    Re tweet that one!

  28. June 22, 2012 at 10:02 am

Hi there Os! Another great getting up day in TODtown! I do believe my newly named perennials are fighting back. These weeds just refuse to toe the line. I think they threw some poison ivy at me in retaliation. I took Benedryl for the strange cluster of little very itchy bumps that suddenly appeared all over. I knew I was in trouble when I started reading the black spaces between the words on TOD, instead of the words themselves. I missed pretty much all of yesterday, out like a light. I still itch all over but no more benedryl for me. I’ve tried everything topical from calamine lotion to cortisone cream, but so far the only thing that comes close to working is apple cider vinegar and Monistat 7.

My political take today is that if we continue to attenuate the positive here and whenever we speak to our friends/families/strangers, our message will be more meaningful. This election will be decided by undecideds, so let’s get them to the polls encouraged by the good news of what PBO has done and will do for them. Remember we have facts on our side.

    • June 22, 2012 at 10:05 am

attenuate? must be lingering affect of the benedryl.

      • June 22, 2012 at 10:12 am

I once had a very bad case of poison oak and it nearly drove me insane. Hope the itching and swelling calm down very, very soon. Until then, stay out of the bushes!

        • June 22, 2012 at 10:26 am

Yeah, the itch is torture, but I won’t let it get the best of me. I’m formulating a counter attack. Will strike back with my weed elimination arsenal. Gonna start off with my trusty weed whacker, followed by a full fledged assault of chemical warfare. That’ll teach them to mess with me.

      • June 22, 2012 at 10:15 am

Go to your Primary and ask for medication!

        • June 22, 2012 at 10:32 am

I would but this is a fight I’m gonna have to conquer on my own. This is war. It started when I redefined the weeds growing profusely in my yard. I started calling them perennials so that they would be more easily acceptable. They felt insulted and have banded together in revolt of my efforts. No, no doctor for me. I’m gonna Rambo them. Operation Weed and/or Bleed underway!

Mitt Romney’s immigration address before Latino leaders on Thursday didn’t appease one important constituency lining up behind comprehensive immigration reform: evangelicals.

In a speech to The National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials (NALEO) in Orlando Thursday, Romney said he would “replace” President Obama’s recent immigration policy change with something permanent and a commitment to let young immigrants who serve in the military stay in the country. While touting a commitment to legal immigration, Romney remained vague on what should be done for the millions of undocumented immigrants in the country. “I will address the problem of illegal immigration in a civil but resolute manner,” he said without further explanation.

I remember President Obama being devastated that the DREAM Act was blocked by Republicans. Of course, the Latino community knows this. That’s why I am sure they were insulted by Mitt Romney’s speech yesterday. He lied to their faces.

    Funny Friday Story:

I had to go to the bank today. So off I go to deposit some checks for the Company where I work at the B of A (I know, I know I’m trying to get them to switch this account). Anyway, I get off the subway and walk up the escalator and there is this nut bag with a truck all decorated in pictures of fetuses and awful posters and bumper stickers about PBO. He is ranting and raving like something crazy. Along comes this little old woman who had to be in her nineties walking to the elevator of the subway. She stopped, looked at the guy, raised her walking cane and said, “You know you need to go sit your crazy ass down because I have lived long enough to see enough to know that PRESIDENT Obama is doing good things for this country. Now take that crazy mess on down south somewhere because we are not having it up here”. The people standing there started applauding. She made my day!!!

For the record men don’t have one. They talk a great deal about them and pass a whole lot of legislation pertaining to them, but at the end of the day they have a wee wee not a hoo hoo. Newt Gingrich has cheated on at least two vaginas that I know of, but I think he refers to them as ex-boxes. Rush Limbaugh hates vaginas, but rumor has it he smuggles Oxycontin in his maid’s vagina so I guess he just calls it a pill box. Mitt Romney used to call them vaginas and actually gave them all the rights and privileges afforded to them under the law but now he simply refers to them as votes he has alienated.

Shame on Politico………I’m not surprised but disgusted……

I was reading the tweets in my TL this morning and I saw a lot of comments on David Gregory…..the spokesperson for the Romney camp.

He represents the corporate media so well….their journalism standards……it’s a travesty.

I went back to check when he was the keynote speaker at the RW group NFIB in May, if I could find a video or something….no video but I found an article….

”Premiere guests included Republican “Architect” Karl Rove, House Speaker John Boehner, and “Meet the Press” host David Gregory. Gregory took heat for being the conference’s keynote speaker, but NBC claims that doing the gig unpaid freed him from any accusations of journalistic impropriety.”

How nice, Karl Rove was there…….

Gregory’s speech talked about the need to protect small business….you know like oil companies………

Major Oil Spills In Alberta Prompt Questions And Concerns About Keystone XL Pipeline

    ———————-

The proposed Keystone XL pipeline running from Alberta’s tar sands south to Nebraska and Texas continues to stay in the public eye. Mitt Romney gave it center stage in a campaign ad released today, and the House Republicans attempted to attach it to a drilling bill that passed yesterday.

But this week it was reported that over the past few months, a million liters (quarter million gallons) of oil from several pipelines have spilled in Alberta. Canada’s The Star reported on Wednesday that cleanup crews are working to prevent contamination from the three major oil spills:

In conversations with Democratic friends, I’ve found a lot of people who are furious at the “contempt” crap against AG Holder and are tired of being jerked around by the dimwits in Congress. So I called Nancy Pelosi’s office in DC and told the guy on the phone that if the contempt vote passes, it would mean a lot to people if Nancy would just lead the whole Democratic caucus off the floor in a ‘gesture of Democratic contempt’ for Republicants. The guy on the phone thought it was a terrific idea and I’m hoping other people could push for this as well, calling their Democratic rep, if they have one, and asking them to join in a symbolic revolt. If nothing else, a show of solidarity like this would undercut the news cycle advantage that’s so precious to the GOP. I told the guy that right now Democrats need to feel that the members of Congress “get it” when it comes to their outrage at GOP tactics.

    • June 22, 2012 at 11:26 am

“2008: Darrell Issa Voted “YES” to Fund Project Gunrunner & Merida Initiative”

“Darrell Issa pretends he has never heard of Project Gunrunner, yet in 2008 he specifically voted to fund Project Gunrunner.

In October 2007, President Bush and Mexico’s President Calderon announced the Mérida Initiative, is a Billions of dollar aid package to support President Calderón’s war on drugs by, among other things, sending military grade weapons and helicopters to Mexico.”

    Obama Outfoxes Romney

The president’s agility on gay marriage and immigration is making his rival look stodgy and unprincipled.

    By Jacob Weisberg|Posted Thursday, June 21, 2012

    ————————–

These stratagems show every sign of paying off. Obama’s positions convey a Reaganesque sense of optimism about social change while associating Romney’s views with fear and the past. Romney, whose approach to politics has always been to rearrange his views in relation to the next election, has thus far been stymied by this rabbit-punching. He has been on the defensive, landing few blows of his own and failing to come up with any memorable proposals. His strategy seems to be to trumpet increments of bad news about the economy. That is not only a risk-averse strategy, but also a sour one. This week, Romney’s campaign reportedly asked Florida’s Republican governor to stop trumpeting his state’s economic recovery, lest the credit accrue to his opponent.

Just a thought. Doing battle on Twitter is good, but don’t let it consume you.
Learn to separate Twitter RWNJ from People who are cool, because, in always protecting the President aggressively, then we start to Hate the Righties.
And if that is what is happening, I suggest you take a break from Twitter and or other blogs.
Sometimes, just out of the blue, People on this blog will attack a fellow Poster( Sometimes that fellow poster is me), and come to find out, they were on Twitter all Day doing battle with Righties.
The problem with that is, it’s there Job, we do it out of Passion for The President, and it ends up being a behavioral modifier, for the worse and a bad habit.
    Just saying!

I was reading a diary in kos about Ann Romney’s drugged horse. In 2010, a San Diego woman sued the trainer, his wife and Mrs. Romney for fraud,

So we know the story since it came out yesterday but I was reading the comments and one caught my attention, I went to check the link, an article in NYtimes.

”Asked if she was ever unhappy with Mr. Ebeling’s instruction (the trainer), Mrs. Romney said in a deposition in the lawsuit, “I think that is not a fair question because we all get upset at certain times with anybody that is — you know, especially a German.”

    Especially a German????

The more I know about her the more I profoundly dislike her…..she is his perfect match……
